William E DeVoe was born at home in Wichita Ks on July 1, 1933. He had an older sister and two younger brothers. He attended various grade schools. He left home at a very young age and worked for farmers for room and board. Some of them allowed him to go to school in the winter months. While still looking for a home he enlisted in the Navy for his education in 1951. He served in the Korean war in Sasabo Japan as Harbor defense police.
When he returned home, he married and had 4 daughters. He worked as general manager of the Kansas Emulsion plant in Eldorado.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Eldorado and a 32-degree Mason.
He tried his hand at Auctioneering and was a manager of a sonic drive in while living in Texas.
In later years he Married Betty Green of the Zenda area and lived a quiet life out on the farm for almost 25 years.
He died in Wheatland care home in Kingman Ks November 22 2021. A private family burial is planned later. Memorials to Rivercross Hospice in care of Livingstons funeral home.
