Nancy MacGregor Greenwood died on June 10, 2022 at the Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colorado. She was 91 years old. Nancy was born April 5, 1931 in Medicine Lodge, to Riley MacGrego and Alice(Martin) MacGregor. She was a retired schoolteacher. Nancy was born and grew up in Medicine Lodge. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Nancy attended the University of Kansas. She was a member of Kansas Chapter of Delta Gamma Sorority.

After graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in Art Education, she married Jack Greenwood of Kansas City, on August 7th, 1953. They moved to back to Medicine Lodge, to build their life and family. They were married for more than 61 years until Jack’s death in 2015. She was a junior high art teacher. 

Nancy was active in the community in many ways. She was a Sunday school teacher at the Methodist church and sponsor of MYF at the church. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother. A long-time participant in the Medicine Lodge Peace Treaty Pageant. Member of DAR. Lifelong and active member of the Republican Party. She was President of the Kansas Chapter Delta Chi Mothers Club. In 1986 Nancy and her husband Jack moved to Colorado. They both worked in the mortgage financial industry. She was active in the Colorado Republican party. She was a member of Cherry Creek Republican Women Club. And Cherry Creek Republican Quilters. She was a proud wife and mother. She loved her dogs and horses. Through her life she had many boxer dogs and participated in showing her boxers at AKC affiliated dog shows. She also loved to travel. She visited many of the 50 states and many countries around the globe. She was a proud American who loved her country and the blessings that come with being a U.S. citizen. Her life was blessed with the love of family and friends. And a life of laughter and faith. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack E. Greenwood. Her first-born son Riley MacGregor Greenwood. Her Parents, Riley MacGregor and Alice Martin MacGregor. Her brothers, Bill {William} MacGregor, John Jay ReQua. Sister, Comora MacGregor Nash. Larry T. Hart 84, died September 4, 2022 at his Newton residence.&nbsp; He was born November 3, 1937 in Nashville, to Eldon E. and Lois (Martindale) Hart.&nbsp; On August 31, 1958 he married Nancy J. Koch and she survives of the home.

Larry lived on a farm near Maud, and when he was 5 years old moved to Pratt where he attended public school and college.&nbsp; He worked at the Calbeck furniture and music store while in school.&nbsp; He later worked sales for BF Goodrich before becoming a business representative at Southwestern Bell.&nbsp; Larry moved to Wichita in the early 60’s with Southwestern Bell. After that he joined Royal Business Machines as a typewriter/calculator technician, before working for and then becoming co-owner of Janzen Business Machines with his wife.&nbsp; While running the company he sold and serviced business machines throughout South Central Kansas and had a large clientele in Wichita and the area school districts.

He was a member of the Methodist church, Masonic Lodge 99 and the Scottish Rite Temple in Wichita.

Larry was known as a very gracious and kind person who also had a really fun sense of humor.&nbsp; He had a beautiful bass voice and sang the most gorgeous acapella rendition of “Amazing Grace”.&nbsp; In school he played 1st&nbsp;chair trumpet and people requested he play taps at many funerals.&nbsp; One of Larry’s favorite pastimes was water skiing and he skied well into his 60’s. &nbsp;Tablerock lake was a favorite vacation spot.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy; son Tim Hart and his wife Debbie; daughter Kristi Berning and her husband Rex. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, brother Eldon Hart, Jr., and sister Marilyn Hubert.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Graveside committal will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at the Maud Cemetery in rural Cunningham, Kansas. There will be no public visitation.

David Wayne Lawrence, 65, of Valley Center, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born June 09, 1957 to Robert Lee Lawrence Sr. and Joyce (Greathouse) Sucht in Downey, California.&nbsp; He attended Hadley Junior High and North High School. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita, and Valley Center.

After graduation, David worked at Burger Stan, as a CNA and co-owner of B &amp; D Construction in Wichita. &nbsp; He enjoyed talking with people and sharing his faith in Jesus.&nbsp; He loved all things outdoors including, swimming, scuba diving, water skiing, motor cross and horseback riding. David loved growing flowers and bird watching.&nbsp; He met a lifetime goal of building his family home.&nbsp; Besides his horses, most of all, David loved his family, his wife Susan, daughter Sarah, son-in-law Danny, all his grandchildren, and his dogs, Lola and Billie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Lawrence, his step-father, Donald Sucht, and sister, Tammy Lavon Lawrence.&nbsp;

Danny Lee Brunsell, 60, of Lindsborg passed away, Friday, September 9, 2022 at home in Lindsborg.  Danny was born December 15, 1961 in Hutchinson. He was adopted by the late DeLon and the late Virginia (Coleman) Brunsell.  

Danny graduated high school and attended Colby Community College.  He worked as a rural mail carrier and farmer.  Danny had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, especially to, out of the way, places and countries.   

Survivors include his brother: Dean Brunsell (Jan) of Salina; twin brother: Daryl Brunsell (Sandra) of Lindsborg; as well as numerous extended family members.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister: Janita Gregoire.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 14 from 5-7p.m. at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.

Lulu Irene (Forbenius) Swenson – Lulu “Lou” died September 7, 2022 at the Bethany Home at the age of 92. She was born near Linconville, on September 8, 1929, the fourth child of Karl and Katherine (Beisel) Forbenius. 

Lou was raised on the family homestead with her two older brothers, older sister and one younger sister. Growing up she was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church. She attended Lincolnville Elementary School and graduated from Lincolnville High School. After graduation, Lou moved to McPherson. 

She married Raynold Swenson on April 16, 1949, and was married for 56 years until Raynold’s passing in 2005. She and Raynold had two children, son Dale and daughter Debra, and five grandchildren, Damian, Danyel, Jessica, Katie and Kendal.

Lou worked in the medical field most of her adult life, starting in 1959 through 1967, she worked for the Lindsborg Community Hospital. In 1967, she started working for Dr. Murfitt, where she remained for 17 years. In 1984, after a brief stent at the Bethany Home, she returned to the hospital where she worked in home health until her retirement. Lou enjoyed her work and cared for many people in the Lindsborg community. In her retirement, Lou helped run the TACOL thrift store for many years.

Lou was a child of God and served him in many ways. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday and Bible School. She enjoyed teaching and working with the children of the church. 

Lou was a competitive person, it didn’t matter if it was cards, sports or Wii bowling, she played to win. She played on several softball teams as a pitcher, and competed in the women’s league at the Lindsborg Bowling Center. After “retiring” from participating in sports, Lou watched from the stands, as she traveled to various sporting events watching her grandchildren play football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and track and field. She was a fan of baseball and often watched the Chicago Cubs on WGN. Lou enjoyed the outdoors, and would often take the grandkids fishing, where she was never afraid to bait a hook or take a fish off. She was also a lover of music, everything from George Jones, to the Lawrence Welk Show, to Gospel, but she was partial to the music heard while attending all of her grandchildren’s choir and band concerts.

Lou was proceeded in death by her husband, Raynold, parents Karl and Katherine, brothers Marion and E. Dean Forbenius, sisters Ruth Forbenius and Betty Beneke and son-in-law, Tony Patterson.

Lou is survived by son, Dale (Julie) Swenson, daughter Debra Patterson, and grandchildren: Damian Vosburg, Danyel Patterson, Jessica Patterson, Katie Swenson (Mike and Sydney), and Kendal Swenson (Amber).

The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the wonderful people from Kindred Hospice and the Bethany Home for their compassion and loving care of Lou over the final days of her life.

A longtime resident of Inman, he farmed and worked for Certainteed, retiring after 35 years.&nbsp;

James was a member of Zoar Mennonite Brethren Church, was a huge sports enthusiast, enjoyed reading and baking, and especially loved time with his family and grandkids.

He married Kathleen J. Ediger on March 28, 1964, in Inman.&nbsp; She passed away on September 21, 2011.

Survivors include a son, Rustin (Michelle) Lafferty, Inman; 3 daughters, Kara Lafferty, Arizona, Dana Lafferty, Overland Park, and Lora (Kenyon) Thornburg, Olathe; 2 grandchildren, Marlee and Maddie Thornburg, Olathe; 2 brothers, Keith Lafferty, Inman and Bob Lafferty, Georgia; and a sister, Viola Cooper, McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Doris Richards and Sharon Lafferty.

Sara “Emily” Hughes, 99, of Hesston, died September 10, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born February 14, 1923, in Penalosa, to Floyd and Ruth (Allen) Hobbs.

Emily attended Langdon High School. She worked as an overseas operator for Southwestern Bell in Wichita during World War II and later made custom-made draperies for JC Penney in Hutchinson. Emily was the credit manager at Hutchinson Hospital for 42 years, retiring in 1988. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many activities including collecting antiques, making Teddy bears and doll clothes, weaving rugs, and researching genealogy. Emily was of the Christian faith.

She married Norman Buck and they had one son, David. Emily later married Jessie L. “Tex” Hughes and they had one daughter, Judy Margo. He died August 19, 1990.

Sara “Emily” Hughes, 99, of Hesston, died September 10, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born February 14, 1923, in Penalosa, to Floyd and Ruth (Allen) Hobbs.Emily attended Langdon High School. She worked as an overseas operator for Southwestern Bell in Wichita during World War II and later made custom-made draperies for JC Penney in Hutchinson. Emily was the credit manager at Hutchinson Hospital for 42 years, retiring in 1988. Throughout her life, she enjoyed many activities including collecting antiques, making Teddy bears and doll clothes, weaving rugs, and researching genealogy. Emily was of the Christian faith.She married Norman Buck and they had one son, David. Emily later married Jessie L. “Tex” Hughes and they had one daughter, Judy Margo. Leslie “Randal” Baugh was born August 29, 1950, in Hutchinson, to two loving parents, Harold and Phyllis Baugh. He passed away on September 8, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Wichita.

Randal was raised in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. He attended Hutchinson Community College, playing basketball under legendary coach, Gene Keady. Randal served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War in 1971. He began his career as a truck driver for Krause Plow (formerly) for over 25 years. Randal retired from driving in 2020, after several years as an independent contractor. He was known and loved for his quick wit, infectious smile, strong work ethic, and love for his family. Randal loved spending time with his loved ones and talking about sports and life.

He raised three sons with Sheri Lynn: Jason, Marques, and DeAndre Baugh.

Randal is survived by: his children, Jason, Marques, and Deandre Baugh; brothers, Ricky and Roger; sister, Roxanne; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and countless lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Ruth; and nephews, Xavier and Todd Baugh.

His legacy will be carried on by his 5 loving grandchildren who loved their papa very much.

Ines Maria Weigel, 86, died September 3, 2022, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. She was born May 24, 1936, in Benghazi, Libya to Agostino and Elda (Pavoni) Filippi.

Ines worked at the 4th&nbsp;street Dillon’s in the produce and meat department for many years. She enjoyed golf outings with her lady’s group, traveling, and volunteering at the Soup Kitchen. Ines was ornery, fun to be around, and always shared what was on her mind; she had a great sense of humor. Ines was an extraordinary wife, mother, and grandmother, and consistently supporting her grandchildren in their school activities and sports. She was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. She was a woman of good faith and took pride in that.

On September 21, 1957, she married the love of her life, Herbert James “Herb” Weigel, Jr., in Tripoli, Libya.

Ines is survived by: her husband of almost 65 years, Herb of Hutchinson; daughters Susan Weigel-Wise of Hutchinson, Debbie Gray of Shawnee, Cindy Cook of Hutchinson, and Missy Pint of Lenexa. Her grandchildren: Rachel Joshi, Tanner Gray, Jenna Gray, Lexi Pint, Riley Pint, Ava Walter, Alex Wise, Hayley Wise, and Jordan Cook, her eight great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Taylor and Sheila Rohl.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Anna Stevens; brother, Sandro Filippi; and sister-in-law, Susie Ruder.

(Frank) Stiverson. &nbsp;A veteran of WWII, he spent many years as an office supply salesman, retiring from Southwestern Office Supply in 1989.&nbsp; He subsequently worked for USD 266, spending much of his time meticulously marking football, baseball and softball fields.&nbsp; He was a man dedicated to his family, church and community.&nbsp; He loved fishing, taking care of his yard and was a big fan of the Shockers, Chiefs and Royals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard and granddaughter Jennifer D. (Stiverson) Germann.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 76 years Nona M. (Weller) Stiverson, daughter Janis (Stiverson) Clements of Moore, OK, son Richard J. Stiverson (Debbie) of Maize, son Roger E. Stiverson (Cindy) of Wichita, 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Edwin was born August 27, 1933, in the Pratt Ninnescah Hospital to Clyde S. and Orpha S. (Randle) Boots. He attended Isabel Consolidated School and one year at Kansas State College. 

He served two years in Japan with the US Army. February 11, 1956, he married Shirley Wehling. They were married 63 years before her death in 2019. Their daughter Diana was born in 1957 and they lived in Isabel for three years while Ed worked as a mechanic and welder. In 1959 he moved his family to the western Kansas farm. Ed and Shirley adopted two sons, Bradley in 1966 and Brian in 1968.

Ed served on various committees in Finney County, helping start a rural fire department on which he served 37 years. He served on the Garden City school board, the Finney County ASCS committee, and Conservation District board, the Finney County Extension executive committee, and the Ag committee. As part of the United Methodist Conference Farm Issues Task Force, he gave presentations about the plight of the farmers in the 1980s. He served 27 years as Garfield Township Clerk. 

Ed was lay leader of Kalvesta United Methodist Church, helping build a new church at Kalvesta in 1964. Ed and Shirley led a very active youth group at the Kalvesta church. They were inducted into the Kansas Master Farmer - Homemaker organization class of 1992. When crops were poor Ed ran a grader for Finney County, did mechanic work, drove a school bus, and measured land for the ASCS Office. He began no till farming in 1975. For several years he was asked to take part in seminars on no till and limited till farming. In 1990 he put together a state-of-the-art seed cleaning facility. In 2007 Ed retired from the seed cleaning.

Ed and Shirley moved in 2002 to Pratt where they purchased a home, adding a shop where Ed did many projects for their church, friends, and family. Ed served on Pratt First United Methodist Church Board of Trustees and as church treasurer. He was available to help with any project. His men’s devotion group provided fellowship and support. Ed and Shirley were faithful in supporting their church and many charities, and Ed made it his mission to do visitations to many.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Shirley, and grandson Ryan. Surviving him are his sister, Clydene Boots of CA; daughter Diana (Dr. Jerry) Nixon of Wichita; grandson Grant (Dr. Courtney) and great-grandson Riley Nixon of CA; sons Bradley (Alicia) Boots and grandchildren Aaron (Diane) and great-granddaughter Aliza; David (Anna) Boots; and Dayna Boots of Kansas City; Brian (Angela) and grandson Finley Boots of Dallas, as well as many extended family, including Shonda (Wheeler) Collins of Garden City, who they helped care for as a baby, and his sweetheart, Louise Reimer.

Visitation will be Friday, September 16, from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd, Pratt. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, Pratt. Burial will follow at Isabel Cemetery, Isabel.

He was a lifelong resident of Wichita, Kansas and Valley Center.&nbsp; &nbsp;

David Wayne Lawrence, 65, of Valley Center, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born June 09,1957 to Robert Lee Lawrence Sr. and Joyce (Greathouse) Sucht in Downey, California.&nbsp; He attended Hadley Junior High and North High School. He was a lifelong resident of Wichita, Kansas and Valley Center.&nbsp; &nbsp;After graduation, David worked at Burger Stan, as a CNA and co-owner of B &amp; D Construction in Wichita. &nbsp; He enjoyed talking with people and sharing his faith in Jesus.&nbsp; He loved all things outdoors including, swimming, scuba diving, water skiing, motor cross and horseback riding. Lloyd Roger Gallimore, Jr., age 77, passed away on Wednesday, Aug, 31, 2022 at the Stafford County Hospital, Stafford, KS. He was born on Aug. 27, 1945, in Rochester, MN., the son of Lloyd Roger, Sr., and Catherine (Molz) Gallimore. 

June 8, 1996, he married Emily Hayworth in Macksville. Lloyd was member of the Macksville Free Methodist Church, Christian Motorcycles Assc., and was a security guard for the Olympics in CA. 

Lloyd is survived by his daughter, Melanie Barkley, St.John; daughter, Charlene (John) Humbolt, (Childen and Grandchildren) of Wichita; brother Paul and his wife and son of Buffalo, MN and Brother Jon and his wife of Sturgeon Lake MN; two Brother-In-Laws Richard Hayworth (Shirley) and family and Jerry Hayworth (Donna) and their family. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; and his son, Lloyd Roger Gallimore III.

Thais Mary Fritzemeier went home to Heaven on August 28th, 2022 at her home in Modesto CA. She was surrounded in comfort by her daughter Tammy Balos her son-in-law Dan Balos and her granddaughters Ashley Kee and Lauren House.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born on December 25, 1936 to George Howard and Mary Glenn in Great Bend. 

She was the oldest of four children (Clarkie, Chuck, and Ruth) She spent her childhood in Wyoming and Kansas. Thais gave her life to Christ at the age of 13 and faithfully walked with Him for the rest of her life. She was an excellent student and an accomplished member of the debate team at Stafford High School.&nbsp;

Thais married Ronald Charles Fritzemeier on July 21, 1954&nbsp;at Calvary Baptist Church in Stafford. They were married for over 60 years. They had five children and lived in Kansas, Wyoming, and California.&nbsp;Thais was an avid reader and writer. She wrote many poems and short stories. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee retiring in 2008.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Thais was a beautiful example of a faithful servant to Christ. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ronald and her son Randy, as well as her daughter-in-law Marca. 

She is survived by her children Rick (Marian) Fritzemeier, Ron (Debbie) Fritzemeier, Rob Fritzemeier, Tammy (Dan) Balos and her daughter-in-law Kathy Chapman. She is also lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, family members, and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Visitation and Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022 at Minnis Chapel, Stafford.&nbsp; Interment will be at Feldhut Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Thais Mary Fritzemeier went home to Heaven on August 28th, 2022 at her home in Modesto CA. She was surrounded in comfort by her daughter Tammy Balos her son-in-law Dan Balos and her granddaughters Ashley Kee and Lauren House.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born on December 25, 1936 to George Howard and Mary Glenn in Great Bend. She was the oldest of four children (Clarkie, Chuck, and Ruth) She spent her childhood in Wyoming and Kansas. Thais gave her life to Christ at the age of 13 and faithfully walked with Him for the rest of her life. She was an excellent student and an accomplished member of the debate team at Stafford High School.&nbsp;Thais married Ronald Charles Fritzemeier on July 21, 1954&nbsp;at Calvary Baptist Church in Stafford. They were married for over 60 years. They had five children and lived in Kansas, Wyoming, and California.&nbsp;Thais was an avid reader and writer. She wrote many poems and short stories. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee retiring in 2008.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thais was a beautiful example of a faithful servant to Christ. Clyda Jayne Frederick, 71, of Clay Center, passed away on September 5, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. She was born October 15, 1950, in Lyons, the daughter of Walter Clyde and Bertha Lee Warner Pile. 

Clyda has resided in Clay Center for the past year and a half, formerly of Sterling. She graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1968. Clyda received a bachelor’s degree in education from Sterling College in 1972 and received her master’s degree in education at Friends University in 2006. 

She was a teacher at Sterling USD 376, Hutchinson High School, Little River High School and Raymond Jr. High School. Clyda was a member off Beta Sigma Sorority, Sterling Library Board, and past member of PEO Chapter C of Lyons. 

On August 3, 1969, Clyda was united in marriage with Russell “Mac” Frederick in Lyons. He survives of the home. 

She is also survived by her two sons, David Frederick and wife Shellee of Clay Center, and Mark Frederick and wife Amy of Louisburg; two sisters, Connie Sewell and husband Larry of Sterling, and Phyllis Mendenhall of Oxford, OH; and seven grandchildren, Brandon, Allie, Lauren, Blake, Brady, Kate and Sam. Glennis Lee Schropp, 91, of McPherson, KS Passed away at 6:05 a.m. on Tuesday September 6th, surrounded by her son Monte, and daughter in-law Tami, at her residence as she had requested.

Glennis was born in Burlington, on August 22, 1931, the daughter of Inez Lee (Wentworth) and Selden Burk Laird.

Glennis attended Beechwood School in Sedgwick county and graduated from Hartford High School, Hartford. Glennis loved her family. She proudly wore her "Schropp's Grandma" sweatshirt to her grandchildren and eventually her great grandchildren's sporting events and activities. 

Glennis was a passionate fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. A die hard fan who loved them through both feast and famine. A love she shared with Don and Monte and eventually some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was able to celebrate both Super Bowl wins of the team. She and Don went to many games over the years and took children and grandchildren along to enjoy. On game day the Chief's flag always flew high at 615 E. Kansas.

Glennis spent countless hours preparing for and cleaning up after camping and fishing trips and hunting adventures. She would prepare whatever they brought to her kitchen to cook. 

Glennis was feisty and had a quick wit, but was also a very tender and compassionate woman. She was a quiet woman, who had a listening ear and a hot cup of coffee for anyone who needed it. She never imposed her wishes on anyone, but would let you know what she thought if you asked. "I guess, I guess" "Oh boy, oh boy" and "Oh sh-" were some of her most familiar sayings. Through the years and countless documents, Glennis' middle name has raised questions and spawned stories having been spelled both "Lee" and "Lea". Glennis said the latter was incorrect even though that's what is on her birth certificate. One thing is true, no matter how it is spelled, she has a nephew, great nephew, granddaughters, and great granddaughters who proudly bear the name of this beloved woman.

Glennis took great pride in her appearance while she was in the workforce. She worked for Farmers Alliance Insurance for 30 years. She was always dressed to the nines with perfectly manicured nails and her hair done just right. Because of this, Glennis was admired by many. She loved her friends and coworkers and enjoyed bringing her grandchildren to the annual Easter egg hunt, and attending the retiree's dinner with her sister as her plus one. She joked that this November she would have been retired for 30 years so she would get paid to not work for as many years as she had worked. After retirement Glennis worked briefly for the Hospital auxiliary, a position she loved until family needs became more pressing.

She took care of many people through the years. Her sons when they had health challenges, with train trips to St. Louis and later weekly trips to Wichita. Don was diagnosed with Leukemia and they dealt with that together as a couple. Some time after, upon her fathers passing, Glennis and Don moved her mother in with them and cared for her until she returned to Arkansas in 1995. She took care of Don in their home until he passed in 2002, according to his wishes. He commented on their final anniversary together "You know we've been together for 50 years". She always made it a point to offer care to those who needed it.

Glennis L. Laird was united in marriage to Donald D. Schropp on February 10th, 1952, in Hartford. The young couple established their first home together in Wichita, KS. This union was blessed with five children, one daughter, and four sons. Ginger, Michael, Monte, Mark, and adopted son Ron Wege. The family moved to Peabody, then Newton, until 1962, when they settled in McPherson.

She is survived by her son, Monte Schropp and his wife Tami, of McPherson; adopted daughter in law Claudette Wege, of Coleridge, NE; and sister Loretta Costner, of McPherson.

Peggy worked for Hubco Bag company for many years until she retired early. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed Bird watching, as well as baking goodies and making her famous Christmas candies. She Spent her last years surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren enjoying the outdoors and the weekly lunch dates for Mexican food with her oldest granddaughter.

September 5, 2022 in Colwich.&nbsp; She was born in Blue Rapids, May 8, 1924, to Eldon and Ethel (Dutton) Weller. &nbsp;

A 1942 graduate of Blue Rapids, she worked in Wichita aircraft plants
during WWII while her fiancé, Vernon Stiverson was fighting in Italy.&nbsp;
Later, she spent time working as a grocery clerk, an office clerk and a
stay-at-home mom.&nbsp; She was dedicated to family, church and
community.&nbsp; She loved taking care of her flowers, writing poetry,
supporting her family’s activities and was a big fan of the Shockers, Chiefs
and Royals.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of
76 years Vernon, her parents, brother Bradford Weller, brother Richard Weller,
sister Helen Cardey, twin sister Donna Nicks and granddaughter Jennifer D.
(Stiverson) Germann.

She is survived by daughter Janis (Stiverson) Clements of Moore,

“Ione” (Akers) Johnson, 98, of Lindsborg, passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg. &nbsp;Besides being a
farm wife,&nbsp;Ione worked at Bethany College for a few years, and then in the
dietary department at Bethany Home, Lindsborg for over 20 years.

She
was born on May 16, 1924, in McPherson, the daughter of John and Irene
(Pieratt) Akers.&nbsp; At the age of two, Ione moved with her parents and
brother to a farm near Conway.&nbsp; There, she lived until 1946.&nbsp; She
graduated from McPherson High School and attended McPherson College.&nbsp;
&nbsp;&nbsp;

She
was united in marriage to Lester E. Johnson on January 23, 1946, at the Messiah
Lutheran Church in Lindsborg.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children.&nbsp;
They lived on a farm east of Bridgeport, for 65 years.&nbsp;

Ione
was a member of the Assaria Lutheran Church.&nbsp; She was active in WELCA, The
Victory E.H.U., and the Friendly Valley 4-H Club.&nbsp; Ione’s main source of
joy was her family.&nbsp; She had a deep love and concern for each member and
was always appreciative of their many displays of respect and love.&nbsp;

Survivors
include: four children, Larry (Pamela) Johnson of Madison, WI, Loren (Cholly)
Johnson of Assaria, Linda (Verne) Hubalek of Lindsborg,&nbsp; and Loretta
(Joel) Mayfield of Springfield, VA; three grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren;
three great-great-grandsons; and many extended family and friends.

She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Leland Akers
and Don Akers.

The
family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, September 12,
2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson, KS.&nbsp; The funeral service

Letha
“Ione” (Akers) Johnson, 98, of Lindsborg, passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Bethany Home, Lindsborg. &nbsp;Besides being a
farm wife,&nbsp;Ione worked at Bethany College for a few years, and then in the
dietary department at Bethany Home, Lindsborg for over 20 years.She
was born on May 16, 1924, in McPherson, the daughter of John and Irene
(Pieratt) Akers.&nbsp; At the age of two, Ione moved with her parents and
brother to a farm near Conway.&nbsp; There, she lived until 1946.&nbsp; She
graduated from McPherson High School and attended McPherson College.&nbsp;
&nbsp;&nbsp;She
was united in marriage to Lester E. Johnson on January 23, 1946, at the Messiah
Lutheran Church in Lindsborg.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four children.&nbsp;
They lived on a farm east of Bridgeport, for 65 years.&nbsp;Ione
was a member of the Assaria Lutheran Church.&nbsp; She was active in WELCA, The
Victory E.H.U., and the Friendly Valley 4-H Club.&nbsp; Ione’s main source of
joy was her family.&nbsp; She had a deep love and concern for each member and
was always appreciative of their many displays of respect and love.&nbsp;Survivors
include: four children, Larry (Pamela) Johnson of Madison, WI, Loren (Cholly)
Johnson of Assaria, Linda (Verne) Hubalek of Lindsborg,&nbsp; and Loretta
(Joel) Mayfield of Springfield, VA; three grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren;
three great-great-grandsons; and many extended family and friends.She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Leland Akers
and Don Akers.The
family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, September 12,

Lynn “Kathy” Swigart, 61, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away September 5,
2022, at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City. 

She was born
December 28, 1960, in Great Bend, the daughter of Earl R. and Geneva M.
Mills Adams. Kathy has resided in Overland Park for the past fifteen years.


Prior to residing in Overland Park, she traveled with her husband in the
military and lived in various locations throughout the United States and
overseas. Kathy worked in retail in various organic specialty food stores, having
worked at Whole Foods in Overland Park, for the past fifteen years. She was an
amazing cook, avid gardener, enjoyed reading and doing word search, loved
animals, and most of all spending time with her family.

 On January 31, 1981,
Kathy was united in marriage with Randall Swigart in Great Bend. He
survives of the home. She is also survived by her two daughters, Tiffany Nelson
and husband Mark of Kansas City, MO, and Contessa Drummond of Raymore, MO;
brother, David Adams; two sisters, Gladys Miller of Andover, KS, and Lisa
Yadgar of Grandview, MO; and four grandchildren, Wesley Nelson, Isaac Nelson,
Lydia Drummond, and Nolan Drummond. 

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M.,
Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Caleb

I. “Irene” Bengtson, 105, of Lindsborg, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022
at Bethany Home, Lindsborg. 

Irene was born August 31, 1917 in Oklahoma City, OK
to the late Aaron and Sigrid (Schorling) Segerhammar. She was the widow of
Gilbert Bengtson, who passed away in 1990. 

Irene was a school teacher, a
bookkeeper, and a homemaker and mother. She was a longtime member of Bethany
Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. 

Survivors include her sons: John Bengtson and Don
Bengtson (Kathey), both of Lindsborg; sister-in-law: Bea Bengtson, of
Clarksville, MD; grandsons: Kenneth Bengtson, of McPherson, Brad Bengtson
(Jessica), of McPherson, Brian Bengtson, of Lindsborg, and Mark Bengtson
(Courtney), of Wichita; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Irene was preceded
in death by her parents; husband: Gilbert; and 8 brothers and sisters.


Cremation has been chosen. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday,
September 19, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, with Pastor Chris
Deines officiating.

1926 in Galva, the son of Dan H. and Susie (Unruh) Becker.



Vernon was a farmer for 85 years. He was a
member of Lone Tree Mennonite Church in Galva.



Vernon was united in marriage to Elfrieda Mae
Koehn on May 8, 1949 in Galva, Kansas. She survives.



Other survivors include his son, Don (Trula)
Becker of Tonasket, WA; daughters, Joyce (Brad) Dirks of Hesston and Karen
(Troy) Barnt of McPherson; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;
sisters, Twila (Cleo) Jantz of Winton, CA and Lovella Koehn of Transylvania,
LA.



Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; 3
brothers; a sister; and a granddaughter, Heidi Joy Dirks.

On September 4, 2022, David Allen Stevens,
fondly known as “Pastor Dave”, of Sedgwick, was called to his heavenly
home.



Born on December 6, 1957 in Camden, New Jersey,
David has always had an adventurous soul and heart of a scholar. After earning
his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University, David pursued his love of Jesus
and service to the community through obtaining his Masters of Divinity at
Eastern Baptist Seminary, before spending time studying Biblical Interpretation
at Iliff School of Theology.



Pastor Dave continued his devotion to God
through ministry in various churches in Colorado, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and
finally, Kansas. In his ministry, Pastor Dave strived to be a source of
comfort, peace, and compassion for his congregation. His work was never done,
waking up early to study the scripture, making late night phone calls or
hospital visits to reassure those during their challenging days, or working
diligently to find the best scripture verse to read at a wedding he officiated.
Pastor Dave made certain that he was present with his congregation through
their tragedies and their joys; a true shepherd. Pastor Dave’s service reached beyond
his own church, having served as a mentor to Chaguanas Mennonite Church and as
a teacher to aspiring pastors at the West Indies Theological College in
Trinidad &amp; Tobago.



David’s love of God and his congregation was
echoed by the love for his family. David married the love of his life, Carole,
on June 9, 1984. David and Carole would go on to have two children, Laura and
Katie. David shared many adventures with his family, including canoeing trips
down the Susquehanna river, visiting Andre the Seal in Maine, skating the
frozen Rideau Canal, and reading every museum sign, much to his kid’s chagrin.



In recent years, David graduated to being “Opa”
with the birth of his three cherished grandsons, Connor, Collin, and Caysen.
David adored being their grandfather… racing the car as they drove down the
driveway, saving snakes and frogs he found to show the boys, and taking them
hiking, much like he did with his own girls.



David was greeted at heaven’s gates by his
mother, Ruth, and father Norman, as well as his in-laws Warren and Ella, who he
treasured as much as his own.



David’s memory and legacy will be carried on
through his wife, Carole, daughters Laura (Daniel), Katie (Josh), grandsons
Connor, Collin, and Caysen, cousins Lynne, Judy, and Gale, and sisters-in-laws
Janice (Jerry) and Linda, along with various nieces and nephews (and great
niece and nephews), and the many people he touched through his spiritual
leadership and friendship.

call to God, and the Lord saves me.”
