Pete T. Calvillo, 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born in Hutchinson on November 9, 1931, to Joe and Micaela (Chavez) Calvillo.
Pete graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He was called to serve his country in the United States Army in 1952 during the Korean War. Cpl. Pete Calvillo was honorably discharged in 1954. Pete worked at Cessna Fluid and Power Division until 1974, and then finished his career at Dillons Stores Warehouse Division in 1992.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with family and his various hobbies, including tinkering with his 1930 Model A. Pete was a lifetime 4th degree honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council 612, Hutchinson Collector Car Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Teamsters Local 795. He was a longtime member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson.
On October 4, 1952, Pete married the love of his life, Henrietta Rodriguez, of Newton, KS. They shared over 70 years of marriage.
He is survived by: his wife, Henrietta; daughter, Karen (Larry) Hase; son, Ted (Janine) Calvillo; sister, Frances J. Garcia; grandchildren, Katie (Craig) Baskins, Emily (Chris) Calvillo, Michael J. (Lauren) Calvillo, Patrick Calvillo, Matthew Hase, Paul Hase, Marcus Hase, Allison (Tim) Penner, Peter (Michelle) Calvillo, Ryan (fiancée, MacKenzie) Calvillo, and Abigail Calvillo; and great-grandchildren, Robert Graves, Brenden Calvillo, Peyten Jane ‘PJ’ Calvillo, Myles Hase, Isaiah and Dominik Pina, Allysa and Carley Penner, and Isabella Calvillo.
Pete was preceded in death by: his infant brother; parents; infant grandchild; and oldest son, Michael Eugene Calvillo.
Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson, KS. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m, at Elliott Mortuary.

Pete’s family would like to thank the local Veterans Administration office, Interim Healthcare aide, Valerie Avery, and the staff at Hospice House, Hutchinson, for all that they did!
