Austin L. Havens |1933-2022|

Austin L. Havens, 88, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital.  He owned & operated Havens Printing and Copy Shop.

Austin was born on December 11, 1933, in Cherry, NE, the son of Charles Granison and Lydia Elizabeth (Gotheridge) Havens.  Austin was raised until age 11 on a farm near Green Ridge, MO and then at the Grace Children’s Home in Henderson, NE. He later graduated from Berean Academy in Elbing, KS and Taylor University in Upland, IN. 

On June 13, 1954, Austin was united in marriage to Gladys Ruth Gaeddert in Hutchinson, KS.  She preceded him in death on September 27, 2013.  He married Lavina Ruth (Penner) Goering on March 7, 2015, in McPherson, KS. 

He was a member of New Hope Evangelical Church and Kiwanis International.  He also volunteered for Friendship Meals and McPherson Hospital.

Survivors include: his wife, Lavina of the home; children, Charlie Havens (Barbara) of Chicago, IL, Phil Havens (Lori) of McPherson, KS, Hal Havens (Kelly) of Lenexa, KS, and Rebecca Provinse of St. Louis, MO; eight grandchildren, Jessica Havens, Allison Havens (Omar), Joshua Havens (Christy), Derek Havens (Courtney), Audrey Benham (Matthew), Kasey Wiglesworth (Curtis), Brian Havens, (Kay), and Alexander Provinse; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Havens of Newton, KS; three step-children, Lynnae Applequist (Lee) of McPherson, KS, Darin Goering (Teresa) of Salina, KS, and Lisa Bouray (Kirk) of McPherson, KS;  7 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and many extended family & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; two sisters, Edna Hiebert and Evelyn McDonald; and a step-daughter, Charla Voth.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, December 9, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, December 10, at the McPherson Cemetery with a memorial service following at 11:00 AM, Saturday, at New Hope Evangelical Church with Rev. George Bocox officiating.
