Marilyn LaVaughn Mann Bauman, 88, died December 6, 2022, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born May 28, 1934, in Gothenburg, NE, to Eilert Albert and Elizabeth Ann (Fickenscher) Stevens.
Marilyn graduated from Gothenburg High School, Gothenburg, NE, in 1952. She received her bachelor degree in elementary education from Sterling College in 1978. Marilyn then embarked on a 20-year career as a second-grade teacher at Union Valley Grade School; she loved teaching. In addition, Marilyn enjoyed traveling, dancing, and just being with people. First and foremost, Marilyn treasured time spent with her ENTIRE family and held a special bond with her seven grandchildren, loving them unconditionally. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter HP and Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.
On June 5, 1954, she married Norman Mann; he died September 15, 1977. Together, they shared over 23 years of marriage. Marilyn married Kenneth Bauman on November 29, 1980, in Hutchinson. They shared together almost 32 years of marriage prior to his death on May 31, 2012.
Marilyn is survived by: son, Vonn Mann (Cheryl) of Ellisville, MO, and their children and grandchildren, Abby Mulcahy (Craig), Bernie and Sydney, Joel Mann (Alyssa) and Davin, and Josh Mann (Caitlin), and son, Scott Mann (T. Pritchard-Mann) of Hutchinson, and their children and grandchildren, Taylor Elizabeth Lent (Mason), Adeline, Scott, and Herschel, Chandler Grace Best (Conner) and baby due April 2023, Jewel Stevens Mann, and Lucy Camryn Mann; stepsons and their families, James Bauman (Janice), Megan Bauman and Lindsey Bauman, Rick Bauman and his daughter, Katie Degraffenried; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Norman Mann and Kenneth Bauman; and siblings and their spouses, Genevieve Franzen (Reakus), Esther Hinze (Robert), and Lavern Stevens (Marian).
Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Del Strecker officiating. Private family inurnment will take place in the church columbarium. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign Marilyn’s book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
