Dale Perry Jewett, 95, died November 25, 2022 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born June 23, 1927, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Fred Allen and Eva (Perry) Jewett.
Dale graduated from Oklahoma A & M with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the United States Navy from 1945-1946. On December 17, 1950, he married Avril Seymour, in El Dorado, Kansas.
For over 50 years, Dale worked as a petroleum engineer. Dale’s passion was airplanes and flying. He had his private pilot’s license and was the proud owner of a 1939 Stinson that he would oversee rebuilding and restoring to completion. Above all, Dale loved and treasured his family. His proudest titles were: husband, dad, grandpa and great–grandpa. Dale was a member of Crossroads Christian Church.
Private family graveside service has taken place in Buhler Municipal East Cemetery.
Dale is survived by: his wife of almost 72 years, Avril Jewett of Hutchinson; sons, Randy Jewett of Hutchinson and Kirk Jewett (Carlene) of Longview, TX; daughters, Barb Hansen (Todd) of Bixby, OK, Brenda West (Mike) of Hutchinson, and Patty Mellinger (John) of Newton; 10 grandchildren, Adriane, Scott, Kristin, Kyle, Kendra, Ashley, Kelly, Ryan, Lauren, and Courtney; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don Jewett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
