Richard Dale “Dick” Humiston |1933-2022|

Richard Dale “Dick” Humiston, 89, died November 28, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.  He was born August 30, 1933, in Hutchinson, to Raymond Frank and Ruth Pauline (Griggs) Humiston.

Dick graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952.  He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.  Throughout his career, Dick worked as a Grain Inspector for the State of Kansas.  He was an avid sports fan.  Dick enjoyed following and cheering on the Hutchinson Blue Dragons and wearing anything purple, in support of his K-State Wildcats. He was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68. 

On May 25, 1957, he married Donna Goheen, in Hutchinson.  She died February 28, 2018, after they shared almost 61 years of marriage.

Dick is survived by:  sons, Jeff Humiston (Karen) of Hutchinson and Tim Humiston (Darlene) of Kansas City, MO; sister, Sally Humiston Eubanks of Nickerson; brother, James “Jim” Humiston (Charlotte) of Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William "Bill” Humiston.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 West 4th Avenue, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Kansas Honor Flight or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
