Ruth Ann Thrasher, born to Clark Day and Orba Jacobs of Nashville, KS, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by both parents, Clark and Orba, and her brother in law, Jim Morris.&nbsp;

Ruth is survived by her loving husband, David, of 53 years, sister, Mary Day Morris, her son John (Holly) Thrasher, daughter, Sarah (Casey) Borrowman, and three grandchildren, Maggie and Jacob Thrasher, and Ryder Borrowman.

Ruth grew up in Attica, Kansas, but lived all over with her husband David. Together they made a home in Arlington, KS and Cunningham, KS. Ruth was a devoted member of the Methodist Church in both communities.&nbsp;

She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking family photographs, and being with her grandkids. She was also an avid gardener and could always be found tending to her flowers- particularly her roses.&nbsp;

Those who knew Ruth understand that there was so much more to her life than this brief description; she will be forever loved and missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any donations be made to Alzheimer's/Dementia research organizations.

Lester, 82, of Grady, Okla., will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 15, 2023, 
at the Ringling United Methodist Church with Rev. Les Bussell and Rev. 
Glynn Baker Officiating.  Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial
 Cemetery.  Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray 
Funeral Home of Ringling, Okla.

Jeanetta was born November 8, 1940, at 
Grady to the late Mr. John Reid and Mrs. Beulah J. (Werline) Reid. She 
went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 10, 2023, in Oklahoma City.

Jeanetta
 was raised at Grady where she attended her first years of school.  She 
and her family were known for having a singing quartet, the Reid 
Quartet.  After graduating from Grady, she attended High School at 
Ringling where she excelled as a sixteen-year-old Salutatorian, Senior, 
graduating High School in 1957.  Soon after, she married Mr. Larry 
Lester on June 29, 1957, at the Ringling Baptist Church.

Together 
they moved to several communities following Larry’s employment including
 Seminole, Drumright, Duncan, Hutchinson, KS, and finally to Ardmore in 
1985.  After the passing of her parents, they moved back to her home 
place in Grady where they still resided.  Jeanetta worked outside the 
home doing secretarial and clerical work for numerous companies but 
always had a deep involvement for her church.  She served the Lord all 
her life in any capacity necessary, always enjoying singing in the choir
 and doing solos.  The light of her life was always her grandchildren, 
never missing an activity or sporting event of theirs.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margie Waters; brother, John Reid; nephew, Johnny Reid.

Survivors
 include her loving husband Larry of the home; daughters, Debra Lester 
of Grady and Angela Wade and husband Brent of Ringling; son, Laine 
Lester, and wife Michelle of Tulsa; six grandchildren, Regan Steward and
 husband Destin, Cassandra Lester, Abigail Lester, Jacob Wade and 
fiancée Ivy McPherson, Travis Wade and fiancée Steelie Price, and Larin 
Wade; many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Casket bearers are Jacob Wade, Travis Wade, Destin Steward, Steven Reid, Danny Reid, and John David Lamb.

Honorary bearers are the men of the Ringling United Methodist Church.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. Friday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Ringling.

Kathleen D. Underwood, 60, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at her home in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; She was born September 28, 1962 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Jerry and Nadine (Morgan) Underwood.

Kathleen is survived by her sister, Lynne Underwood; nephew, Dustin Underwood and a niece, Alexandra Underwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Earl Underwood.

Anton “Tony” Klassen, 81, of Moundridge, Kansas, entered the Kingdom of Heaven to be with the Lord on April 11, 2023. Born in Goessel, KS, on March 3rd, 1942, to Christoph Klassen and Marie (Boese) Klassen, Anton was the third child of four brothers, and was able to enjoy growing up with his siblings, Harold, Eldon, and Ruben on a small farm South of Goessel Kansas. The family had a strong Mennonite belief and as part of his personal faith, Anton was baptized on May 20th, 1956, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. He would continue to be a devout Christian at Eden Mennonite Church for the remainder of his life.

Anton is survived by his son, Scott and Suzanne, Park City, KS; grandson, Cade and Melissa and great-grandson, Easton, Olathe, KS; grandson, Calen, Wichita, KS; brother, Eldon and Darlene, Wichita, KS; brother, Ruben and Analene, Goessel, KS; brother-in-law, Larry and Betty Krehbiel, Moundridge, KS; sister-in-law, Kay and Gib Burgan, Moundridge, KS; sister-in-law, Maxine Schrag, Moundridge, KS; and countless nieces and nephews.

Anton was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy (Krehbiel) Klassen; parents, Christoph and Marie (Boese) Klassen; and his brother, Harold Klassen.

A viewing and memorial service will be held Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Moundridge Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge at 10 a.m., Monday, April 17 with the burial following at the church cemetery. Glen E. Yoder, 94, died April 11, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 21, 1928, in Haven, to Tobias and Barbara (Nissley) Yoder.

Glen married Jean Pike on January 4, 1950. They shared 73 years together.

He was a farmer and worked for Cream of Gold Dairy. Glen also worked for Jackson Ice Cream for 27 years. He helped RSVP and drove for Senior Sheriff Patrol for 12 years. Glen enjoyed camping in Branson, Missouri, where he learned to carve. He did woodwork, carving, and polished rocks as a hobby. Glen enjoyed singing and was part of several quartets and sang in the Messiah Choral Program.

He is survived by: wife, Jean Yoder; daughters, Yvonne Yearout, Diane Lingle (Cregg); sister, Anna Ruth Yutzy; brother, Orval Yoder; grandchildren, Taryn Horbotowicz (Walter), Tamra Andsager (Thomas), Jodee Johnson (Keith), Kristi Lawrence (Sean), Ashlyn Partridge (Tim), Loren Snedeker; great-grandchildren, Cadey and Jordan Dick, Dylan and Olivia Snedeker, Shea Cannon, Madison and Gage Graham, Wren Johnson, Ian and Daphne Lawrence, Alivia and Jayse Andsager, Jolie Partridge; and great great-grandchildren, Kinzy Dick and Beckett Snedeker.

Kent Darrell Smith, 56, of Hutchinson, died April 1, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. He was born February 1, 1967, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to James Whitcomb and Yvonne Smith.

Kent graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1985 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a standout basketball and track athlete in high school, and also loved boxing and race cars. Kent was an avid Denver Broncos and Kansas Jayhawks fan. He also loved to dance and was a walking jukebox.

Kent was a machinist/metalist at Superior Boiler for many years before retirement. He attended Foundation of Life Ministries.

Kent had previously been married to Jana Smith and she preceded him in death.

On September 25, 2019, he married Debbie (Harris) Ford, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: his mother, Yvonne Johnson of Hutchinson; brother, Michael Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Kanetia Jackson (Damont) of Dallas, TX; children, Kendra Ray (Ben) of Hutchinson, De’Shaun Smith (Ashley) of Rose Hill, Sh’nelle Grissom of Hutchinson, Kentra Cash’ae “Cash” Wade of El Dorado, Ya’Neigh Smith of Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Kent was preceded in death by his twin brother, Keith Smith, and a sister, Monique Johnson.

Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Elliott Chapel. The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it below will be active beginning at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Michael Allan Steiner, 30, of Little River, Kansas, passed away April 9, 2023. He was born October 7, 1992, in Houston, Texas, the son of Todd Potter and Paula Steiner. 

Michael was a near lifelong Little River resident. He attended Little River High School. Michael worked in construction for Todd Potter and Jerome Gaylor Construction in Little River and was a warehouse manager at KMW in Sterling, Kansas. He played football for Little River High School and was a member of the ROTC. 

Michael enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, drawing, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Thomas Lee Goranson, 77, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022. He was born May 22, 1945, in Lindsborg, KS to Oscar Herbert and Irma Leora (Palmquist) Goranson. He grew up in McPherson, KS and graduated from McPherson High School in 1963. He graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS in 1967. In 1968, he married Marna Kay Norris. They later separated. Tom had jobs with Ryder and Peterson, Peterson &amp; Goss before working the majority of his life at Murfin Drilling Company, retiring in 2012. Tom was known for his sense of humor and his giving spirit. He supported many charities and volunteered earlier in his life at the Braille Association and The Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Tom was preceded in death by both parents; former spouse, Marna Goranson; and sister-in-law, Sheila Finkle (Perry). Survivors include daughters, Amy McCaskey (B.J.) and Shelly Larson (Josh); grandchildren, Jordyn, Cameron, Logan, Olivia, Carter, Kaelin and Tatum; sisters, Kay Chinberg (Dennis) and Shirley Morris (Rex); sister-in-law, Lee Norris (J.D. Bobbitt); and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, April 16, 2023, in the fellowship hall at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg. &nbsp;

Howard Bill Jackson, 95, passed away April 9, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society-Hutchinson Village.&nbsp; He was born April 27, 1927, in Wichita, KS, to Howard Leslie Jackson and Edith Marie (Stone) Jackson.

Bill was a graduate of Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; His parents founded Jackson Frozen Food, Inc. in 1946, and he began working in the store.&nbsp; Bill purchased the company from his parents in 1960 and worked in the family-owned business until he sold it to his son in 1995.

He enjoyed fishing and bowling.&nbsp; Bill loved to go camping and would load up his motorhome and head for a campground in the area or to travel to Colorado for an extended stay.&nbsp; He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson, KS, and was actively involved in the activities of the church, such as being an usher or driving the church vehicles for various activities and services.

On November 25, 1949, Bill married Rosella Joy Friesen in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; They shared over 63 years of marriage, prior to her death on February 18, 2013.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his children, Michael (Robin) Jackson of Hutchinson, KS, Sherry Heim of&nbsp; Topeka, KS, and Janice (Jerry) Green of Hutchinson, KS; grandchildren, Kimberly (Brad) Vining, Stefanie (Jeremy) Kempke, Michael (Kirsten) Green, Sarah (Aaron) Keller, Douglas (Staci) Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Samuel Heim, Jack (Alexa) Heim, and Erin (Monica) Heim; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister-in–law, Hazel (Joe) Stevinson of Blue Springs, MO.

Bill was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; wife; daughter, Joni Joy Jackson Heim; infant son, Mark Allen Jackson; sister, Betty Walker; and brother, Robert Jackson.

Jacob Lee Suenram, 32, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Emporia, Kansas.

Jacob was born in McPherson, Kansas on August 23, 1990, son of Ted and Carolyn (Brack) Suenram.

Jacob attended St. Joseph Catholic grade School, McPherson Middle School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 2009. He then attended Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas.

Jacob worked as a Chef in Lawrence, Kansas before moving back to McPherson where he worked for PEM as an electrician.

Jacob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, loved being outdoors, cooking and spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his parents, Ted and Carolyn Suenram of McPherson; a son, Levi Suenram of McPherson; brothers, James Suenram of Hutchinson and John Suenram of Wichita; sister, Amy Sowder and husband Logan of Wichita; nephew, Clement Sowder ; and other relatives and a host of friends

Jacob was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson with Rosary at 6:30 p.m.. Doug Schmidt, 71, died April 8, 2023 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS surrounded by his family. He was born on March 16, 1952. Doug graduated from Newton High School, and worked as a Corrections Officer for 33 years at HCF. On July 21, 1972 he married Susan Hendry in Newton, KS. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Shauna Burdick and fiancé Clint Woodson; daughter-n-law, Jamie Schmidt; grandchildren, Vance Burdick, Jordan (Deanie) Kuhns, Raviyn, Kloe, Alivia, Erik, Kyra, Kaden, Jameson, Sorell, Hailey, Gabe, and Stephen; sister, Sandy (Bob) Fraser; niece, Sheri Fraser; brother-n-law, Randy (Nikie) Hendry; daughter by heart, Hazel (Roy) Brott; grandson by heart, Nick (Shelby) Heim, and many extended family and friends.

Susan L. Graves, 70, died Sunday, April 9, 2023, at her home in Wichita. She was born March 16, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents J. Lloyd and Blanche (Brobeil) Spaulding precede her in death.&nbsp; Susan is survived by her husband, Jon; son, William (Sarah) Graves; daughter, Kimberly (Nicholas) Wenger; brothers Timothy and Jay Spaulding, and 5 grandchildren.

Susan grew up in North Newton, Kansas and graduated from Newton High in 1971.&nbsp; While in high school she met Jon Graves and on December 19, 1975 they married, and honeymooned in England during the bicentennial summer of 1976.&nbsp; Susan was a graduate of Bethel College and went on to earn her master’s degree in library science from Emporia State University.&nbsp; Prior to her retirement, she was an educator in the Wichita Public Schools. She had a love of her grandkids, reading, sewing and was often in the kitchen baking goodies to share with her friends and family.&nbsp; She was especially known for hot crossed buns and chocolate chip banana muffins. Susan enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in different activities and could be found on the sidelines giving encouragement or in the front row cheering.

In Lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Mid-America All Indian Museum (a special place where Susan enjoyed volunteering with her family) and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.

Jeffrey G. Edwards, 65, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, in Hutchinson, KS. Jeff was born September 18, 1957 in Hutchinson, KS, the son of James and Maxine (Bass) Edwards.

Jeff graduated from Buhler High School and joined the United States Navy, earning a master’s machinist certificate. He served on the USS Forrestal, a supercarrier, and was stationed at Norfolk, VA. Jeff was an enthusiastic NASCAR and local dirt track car racing fan. He still owned and drove his own dirt track racing car. He enjoyed and loved motorcycles from smooth riding Harley Davidsons to dirt track racing bikes. Jeff was known to his friends and family as being a jokester and having a wild sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marquetta Copeland and a brother James Edwards II.

Jeff is survived by his sisters, Carol Pfister and husband Martin and Juanita Thurston; brother, John Edwards and wife Pam; nephew, Chandler Coffee; niece, Kiley Abernathy; great niece, Danae Abernathy; great nephew, Dalton Abernathy; daughter, Angela Marie and a granddaughter Nadia.

Gene Alan Schierling, 72, passed away April 10, 2023, at his home in Inman, surrounded by his family. He was born April 13, 1950, in McPherson, the son of Herbert T. and Emma Reimer Schierling. He was a graduate of Inman High School. A resident of the area all his life, he had been a plant manager for the sign department at Lowen Sign Company. On December 29, 1969, he married Karen Glenn at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman. Gene was an active member of the church, serving on almost every committee available. He had served as treasurer and Deacon. Besides the church, he enjoyed K-State, attending the games, and loved horses, especially 4H shows with his boys when they were young. Gene is survived by his wife; of the home; a son, Jason (Hana) Schierling, Ooltewah, TN; daughter in law, Tiffany Hampton Schierling, Bourneville, OK; a brother, Roy (Shivawn) Schierling, Inman; a sister, Mary Lambert, Colwich, KS; sister in law, Cindy Schierling, Inman; 3 grandchildren, Zora and Zane Schierling, Ooltewah, TN, and Memphis Schierling, Pottsboro, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nathan Schierling; a brother, Richard Schierling: and a nephew, Ross Schierling.

He was born April 13, 1950, in McPherson, the son of Herbert T. and Emma Reimer Schierling. He was a graduate of Inman High School. A resident of the area all his life, he had been a plant manager for the sign department at Lowen Sign Company. On December 29, 1969, he married Karen Glenn at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Inman. Gene was an active member of the church, serving on almost every committee available. He had served as treasurer and Deacon. Besides the church, he enjoyed K-State, attending the games, and loved horses, especially 4H shows with his boys when they were young. Gene is survived by his wife; of the home; a son, Jason (Hana) Schierling, Ooltewah, TN; daughter in law, Tiffany Hampton Schierling, Bourneville, OK; a brother, Roy (Shivawn) Schierling, Inman; a sister, Mary Lambert, Colwich, KS; sister in law, Cindy Schierling, Inman; 3 grandchildren, Zora and Zane Schierling, Ooltewah, TN, and Memphis Schierling, Pottsboro, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nathan Schierling; a brother, Richard Schierling: and a nephew, Ross Schierling.Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Inman Funeral Home, with the family present. CSM (RET) George S. Bowman Jr., age 76, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service with full military honors will take place Friday, June 2, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Kansas Veteran's Cemetery with Will Ravenstein officiating.

On September 28, 1996, he went on to marry the love of his life, Elsie J. "Ellie" Hite; George and Ellie married in Junction City where they remained. Otis Melvin Trimble, 67, passed away April 3, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, December 18, 1955, to Louie David and Alvina (Flowers) Trimble. They lived in Texas for two weeks before moving to Wichita. Otis was a lifelong resident of Wichita, Ks.&nbsp;&nbsp;When Otis was just nine years old his father passed away and two years later his mom. After their passing, he was welcomed into the loving home of Bessie and Armour McGuire and their four boys, Bill, Jack, Charlie and Harold.&nbsp;&nbsp;Otis graduated from North High School in 1974. He married Anita Beckley in 1979 and they were together for 43 years. Otis worked for Coleman for 17 years and finished his career at Sedgwick County spending 22 years there.

Otis loved watching his Kansas City Chiefs, collecting baseball cards, bowling with his cousin Danny Duree and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his great nieces and nephew Emilia, Sophia, Layla and Parker and all&nbsp; special family and friends.

Otis is survived by his wife, Anita, his brothers Harold McGuire and Jack (Darlene) McGuire, sisters-in-law Delialah (Jim) Aubert, Cathy (Leroy Wedeking) Aubert, Terri (Tim) Norris, Diane Beckley and brother-in-law Noel Forsyth.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents, his second set of parents, his brothers Bill McGuire and Charlie McGuire, brothers-in-law Jim Beckley and Tommie Beckley, sisters-in-law Ann McGuire, Diane McGuire, Alberta Snell and Arlene Forsyth and nephews Wesley McGuire and Dennis McGuire.

Carl G. Hobbs, 74, of South Hutchinson, died April 8, 2023, at his home. He was born March 24, 1949, in Hutchinson, to Dale C. and Mary A. (Wilson) Hobbs.

Carl graduated from Nickerson High School in 1967. He owned and operated Carl’s Meat Market in Nickerson for over 20 years. Carl drove a school bus for Nickerson USD 309 for five years until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, and spending time with his grandkids.

Carl attended Nickerson United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Nickerson Masonic Lodge #43, and the Nickerson Order of the Eastern Star.

On July 19, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Mary Glandorf, in Enid, OK. They shared over 56 years of marriage before he passed.

Carl is survived by: wife, Mary Hobbs, South Hutchinson; daughters, Paula Fisher, Hutchinson; and Cindy (Tim) Adams, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jake Adams, Kansas City, MO, Ryan Adams, Buffalo, NY, and Katie Fisher, Wichita, KS; and siblings, Susan (John) Griffith, Hutchinson, and Brian Hobbs, Plano, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son-in-law, Glenn Fisher.

Sandra Lee “Sandy” Adams, 80, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away April 6, 2023, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan, the daughter of LaVerne and Elaine Scott. 

Sandy has resided in Lyons since 2016, formerly of Burbank, California. She graduated from Venice Senior High School, Venice, California, with the class of 1958. Sandy was a sales representative, and owner and operator of Adams Passports and Visa’s in Burbank, California and Lyons. She was a member of the Praise Chapel Revival and Assembly of God Church, both in Lyons. 

Sandy enjoyed reading, shopping, and most of all spending time with her family. She was a avid Green Bay Packers fan. 

Sandy is survived by her five children, Samuel Adams of CA, Lisa Adams of Lyons, KS, Paul Adams of CA, Scott Pulley and wife Catricia of Lyons, KS, and Stephanie Noble and husband Ron of CA; daughter-in-law, Kim Adams of CA; twelve grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Scott, Sandra, Melissa, Syriah, Franceen, Isaac, Joshua, Kayla, Victoria, and Sieanna; eleven great-grandchildren, Grace, Mia, Emma, Mathew, Audrinna, Naveah, Everly, Lily, Valentino, Leo, and Cali; and her beloved dog, Magnolia.

John Warren Dilley, 83, of McPherson, KS, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Cedars House. John was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on December 12, 1939, son of the Chancellor Oliver and Ruby Esther (Weimer) Dilley. 
 John attended Monitor Country School, rural McPherson, a grade school 
in Iowa and Rollins Grade School, Kansas City, Missouri, and graduated 
from Westport High School, Westport, Missouri, in 1958. He then attended
 Kansas City Missouri Junior College and graduated from McPherson 
College, McPherson, Kansas, in 1963 with his Bachelor’s Degree in 
History. John was united in marriage to Karen Lee Zaun on 
April 14, 1967, at the Messiah Church of the Brethren, in Kansas City, 
Missouri. He was a member of Church of the Brethren in 
McPherson. In previous years John was a member of the Unity Church in 
Minnesota, Heartland Spiritual Alliance, Olathe Church of the Brethren 
and was baptized at the Messiah Church of the Brethren, Kansas City, 
Missouri. John worked for the Minnesota Highway Department for
 a short time before becoming a Carrier for the Post Office in 
Minnesota. He later was transferred to the Kansas City Area where he was
 a Carrier and later a custodian for the Monticello Branch, working for 
the postal service for 41 years. He is survived by his 
children, Wendi Cloud (Jake), of Middleburg, Florida, Becki Bowman (JD) 
of McPherson, Kansas and Jon Dilley of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven 
grandchildren and a great granddaughter; sister, Barbara Gauldin, 
of Blue Springs, Missouri and brothers, David Dilley (Nancy) of Olathe, 
Kansas and Gary Dilley of Olathe, Kansas. John was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Prudy Keeling; his wife, Karen Dilley; and brother, Donald Dilley. A private family service will take place at a later date.

Joseph Lee “Joe” Koehn, son of Harold and Ruby (Friesen) Koehn, was 
born April 25, 1983, in Coffeyville, Kansas. He passed away on April 6, 
2023, at his home in Inman.

At the tender age of two, Joe, together with his sister Heidi, were welcomed into Harold and Ruby’s home with open arms.

At times Joe worked with his father as a finish carpenter. He also 
did a variety of odd jobs. Joe enjoyed fishing with friends and 
four-wheeling. He had an open friendly personality that knew no 
strangers and often helped others with rides or favors.

Joe faced many challenges, which led to unwholesome choices.&nbsp; His 
health was compromised and Joe often dealt with pain. But during the last
 three months, he found the grace and strength to make major changes. 
Joe’s friends at Life Recovery became like extended family to him and 
spoke highly of Joe.&nbsp; And, his family experienced a son and brother much
 more gracious and affable.

Joe is survived by his parents Harold and Ruby Koehn of McPherson; 
daughter Christina Thomas; sister Heidi Koehn of South Hutchinson; 
nephews Zachary and Aiden Strawder; stepson Douglas Sherwood; 
step-grandson Karsyn Sherwood; paternal grandmother Elizabeth Becker; 
special family friend Ginger Janzen; and numerous aunts, uncles, and 
cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Herman Koehn; 
his step-grandfather LeRoy Becker; and his maternal grandparents Jacob 
and Sarah Friesen.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Zion Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, 597 6th
 Avenue, Inman, with officiating minister, Dallas Nikkel.&nbsp; Burial will 
follow in the Zion Mennonite Church Cemetery. Friends may call from

Beau Matthew Mettlen, 18, passed away April 8, 2023. He was born on June 21, 2004, to Jeff and Michelle (Baker) Mettlen.

Beau grew up in Colby and was a current Great Bend resident.&nbsp; He was 
attending Barton Community College, on course to graduate in May 2023, 
with an associate degree in Agriculture Crop Protection. He was 
preparing to serve an internship with Performance Crop Research in Great
 Bend. 

Never having idle hands and having a servant’s heart, Beau was 
always ready to help his family, friends, and community, operating his 
own mowing business at an early age, helping his grandpa work cattle and
 farm, and serving on the color guard for Memorial Day at the Lucas 
Cemetery. He enjoyed “all things outdoors”; including construction, 
fishing, hunting, kayaking, and playing baseball.

Survivors include, his parents, Jeff and Michelle Mettlen of Great 
Bend; two sisters, Makenna Park and husband Tyler of Colby and Jayln 
Mettlen of Hutchinson; his grandparents, Richard and Kay Mettlen of 
Lucas and Bob and Doneida Baker of Great Bend; and many nieces, nephews,
 cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts and great uncles, including, great 
aunt, Joan Dunlap of Lucas.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11:00

Agnes M. (Beat) Pauly, 101, of Mesa, AZ, died December 26, 2022, at 
her home. She was born May 26, 1921, in Murdock, KS, to William F. and 
Gertrude B. (Struble) Beat.

Agnes graduated from Kingman High School in 1940 and St. Francis School of Nursing in 1943. She was a 1st
 Lt. in the United States Army from 1944-1946, where she served as a 
Flight Nurse, transporting wounded soldiers back from the Pacific. Agnes
 loved to travel. She was active in the church until 2014, when she 
moved to Arizona. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Agnes was a 
member of St. Francis Nurses Alumni, Daughters of Isabella, Holy Cross 
Altar Society, Harvest House, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

On September 24, 1946, she married the love of her life, Cyril Edward
 Pauly, in Waterloo, KS. They were married for over 20 years before his 
passing on October 28, 1966.

Agnes is survived by: daughter, Sharon Boyer; grandson, Chad (Haila) 
Boyer; great-grandchildren, Kimber and Darrel Boyer; sister, Luella 
Vaughan; godchildren, Barb Winterfield and Tim Pauly; and many nieces 
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents, William &amp; Gertrude Beat; 
husband, Cyril Pauly; daughter, Karen Turnis; son, Dennis Pauly; 
brothers, Doyle, Edward, Edwin, and John Beat; sisters, Isabelle

Carol Louise Greenway (Brunner), Tonganoxie, formerly of Hutchinson, 
KS passed away April 5, 2023, at age 72. Carol was born on July 29th,
 1950, to Eugene and Aliene Brunner in Fort Riley, Kansas. 

Carol was 
raised an Army “brat” and lived in Japan and Germany before moving back 
to the US. Carol graduated from Manhattan High School, class of 1968. 

In
 1968, while roller skating with some friends, Carol met her husband, 
Richard and they were married just a few short months later. They 
enjoyed 51 years together before his death in 2020. Prior to retirement,


 Carol worked as a chef and kitchen manager. Carol spent much of her 
retirement watching her grandchildren in their activities. Carol 
volunteered as a caregiver for the mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) 
through Westside Family Church. 

When her grandchildren attended Genesis 
Christian Academy, Carol volunteered often and helped every week 
preparing hot lunch. For over 50 years Carol was a member of Beta Sigma 
Phi, Lawrence, KS. She very much enjoyed socializing with friends, going
 to the casino and she could always be found cheering for her beloved KC
 Royals, Chiefs and Wildcats. 

Carol is survived by her two children, 
Richard Terry Greenway, Jr. (Candi) of The Colony, Texas, and Rhonda 
(Greenway) Overacker (Greg) of Tonganoxie, Kansas, three grandchildren, 
Gabrielle Greenway, Griffin Overacker and Carly Overacker and one 
great-grand-daughter, Isabella Grace Ruggiero. 

She was preceded in death
 by her husband of 51 years, her first grandson, Casey James Overacker, 
her mother, father, and brother, Larry Brunner. Cremation has taken 
place at her request.

Carol Louise Greenway

Nancy Ann Layton, age 81, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away peacefully 
at her home in McPherson, Kansas at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2023. 
 Mrs. Layton was born Nancy Ann Modlin on October 18, 1941, in Beloit, 
Kansas. She was the only child of George Henry and Grace Oliver (Alcorn)
 Modlin. Nancy grew up in Randall, Kansas, where she went to 
school through the 6th grade. Her father’s employment took the family to
 Wichita, Kansas, for one year and Jamestown, Kansas, for one year where 
Nancy attended schools until the family returned to Randall in 1955. She
 graduated from Randall Rural High School in 1959. After 
attending Fort Hays State College for one year, Nancy enrolled at 
Personnel Training Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon graduating, she 
moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed by United Airlines. 
 She was engaged to Dennis Layton in 1960 and they were married in 
Lynwood, California, on May 7, 1961. They would live in Whittier, Covina 
and eventually Glendora, California, where they made their home and 
raised their family. Nancy resumed her working career outside 
the home in 1972 with Foothill Medical Laboratory and then Dr. Jack 
Bostwick, both in Glendora, CA, until 1979. She then had the opportunity
 for employment with the CPA firm of Campbell, Graves and Associates 
Inc., also in Glendora, where she worked until 1992. Nancy ended her 
working career with the firm of Gill &amp; Knowles Accountancy Corp. in 
Upland, CA, where she was office manager, retiring in 1994. 
After retirement, she and her husband Dennis returned to Kansas and 
lived in Concordia until 2002 before moving to Hillsboro, Kansas. Then 
in 2006 they moved to McPherson, where Nancy called home until her 
death. Nancy was baptized into the Methodist faith as an 
infant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in 
McPherson. She was a former member of SASNAK Study Club, Concordia, KS. 
She was initiated into Concordia P.E.O. Chapter EV in December 1999. She
 demitted to Chapter DB in Marion, KS in September 2001. Upon her move 
to McPherson, she demitted to Chapter AY in 2007. Nancy was a member of 
McPherson Hospital Volunteer Services for many years and truly enjoyed 
giving of her time to help others. She was also a former member of the 
Ladies Auxiliary if the Alhambra Fire Department, Alhambra, CA. 
 Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great 
grandmother and a dear friend to many. Nancy made friends easily. Her 
smile and her quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 
She was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. And she 
was especially proud of her grandchildren and what they have 
accomplished in their young lives. Nancy loved all kinds of 
music, especially rock and roll in her younger days. She liked classical
 music and even grudgingly learned to like country western in her later 
years. She was an avid reader and she loved to work in her flower 
garden. She also loved to walk and would do so daily until she was no 
longer able to due to her health. She loved to travel and see new 
places. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Stacey Lynne Cordell and a grandson Russell Gregory Layton. 
 Nancy is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Dennis of McPherson,
 Kansas; her son, Greg and wife Loretta of Glendora, CA; four 
grandchildren, Kyle Layton of Concord, CA, Luke Layton and wife Taylor 
of Glendora, CA, Tyler Cordell and wife Caitlyn of Manhattan, KS and 
Kailey Cordell of Kansas City, MO; two great grandchildren, Isla 
Cordell, Manhattan, KS and Amelia Layton, Glendora, CA. 
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at 
Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel, McPherson, KS. Funeral will be 10:30
