
Esther Yoder, 90, died June 27, 2023, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born May 17, 1933, in Hutchinson, to Jacob N. and Barbara Edna (Nisly) Yoder.
Esther was passionate about caring for and helping children and she impacted many people during her life. For many years she was a nanny for the McCoy family and created a special bond with them. Esther then became a licensed child care provider and opened Happy Hours Day Nursery. Later she became a foster parent, caring for 125 children over her career. Some of Esther’s other interests were cake decorating and puzzles. She was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church.
Esther is survived by: sisters, Clara Yoder, Peoria, AZ, Bertie Miller (Paul), Hutchinson; brothers, Eli Yoder (Clara Ann), Andrew Yoder (Jeanie), Ernest Yoder (Irene), Henry Yoder (Velma), all of Hutchinson; and 18 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, Becky Nisly, Elmer Jay Yoder, Verna Yoder, and Ivan Yoder.
Funeral service will be 3 pm Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Plainview Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in Plainview Mennonite Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm Saturday with family present at Plainview Mennonite Church.
