Kathy Jean (LeGault) Lutman, age 70, passed away April 17, 2023, after a long battle with radiation treatment complications.&nbsp;

Kathy was born October 31, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington, to Harold LeGault and Anne Welsh.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kathy grew up in Neosho, MO, where she graduated high school. She worked as a waitress, a bank processor, bowling alley clerk, grocery store checker and worked for Pfizer in McPherson as a Group Leader. Her favorite things were laking or sitting poolside in the sun and enjoying her family.She is survived by her 3 children, Deena (Brad) Gundel, Washburn, MO, Teresa (Shanley) Loffer, Ellsworth, KS, and Kristy (Alan) Horton, McPherson KS; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Haller, Lucia LeGault, and brothers, Joey LeGault, Linn LeGault, Kenny LeGault.Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, stepparents, ex-husband Steve Lutman and two brothers, Jonathan (Joe) LeGault and James Welsh.

Kathy will be cremated and there will be a party in her honor at her pool on July 15, 2023. She will be placed next to Steve Lutman at Elmwood Cemetery Lindsborg the following day.&nbsp; She has requested any memorial contributions be made to the charity of each person's choice.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Linda was born August 22, 1952 to Grandville and DeEtta Davis.&nbsp;

Linda is survived by her three loving children, John (Angel) Gillihan of Newton, Sherry Witt (Jeff) of Hutchinson and Gary Brown Jr. (Stacy) of Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Linda has several siblings, Jerrie (Bill) Pitts of Hutchinson, Barbara (Norman) of Hutchinson, Theresa (Gary) Salmans of Leoti and Johnny Davis of Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Linda has several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Linda has 11 grandchildren with 19 great-grandchildren. Linda loved all her grandchildren with all her heart. They were her pride and joy.&nbsp;

Linda worked for First Call for Help (SER) in Hutchinson. Linda enjoyed volunteer work and her dog, Snickers. Linda would help anyone, even if she didn't know you.&nbsp;

Everyone loved Linda's macaroni salad and German chocolate cake. That surely will be missed dearly, like her.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held on April 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Hutchinson Friends Church at 1200 East 14th.

Any donations or food can be brought to the church.

Doris J. Bazil, 89, passed away on April 16, 2023, at Newton Presbyterian Manor in Newton, Kansas.

She was born on June 17, 1933, in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Leonard Sr. and Lillian (Patrick) Rodgers.

On July 5, 1953, Doris was united in marriage to David W. Bazil Sr. in the Church of the Brethren in Newton. The couple was married for 61 years prior to David’s passing in 2015.

She was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

Doris is survived by her granddaughter, Ashleigh (Joe) Parker; great-grandchildren Holden, Emmett, and Sawyer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Bazil Sr.; parents, Leonard Sr. and Lillian Rodgers; and son, David Bazil Jr..

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Vanessa J. Leite, PhD., passed away on April 7, 2023, after a short, yet courageous, battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones throughout her battle and at her passing. Her strength and grace during her cancer fight was profound and she never once complained or felt sorry for herself.

Vanessa was born on May 16, 1978, to Armin and Elizabeth (Unruh) Klassen in Filadelfia, Paraguay. During her early years, you could always find her playing outside in the dirt with the dogs, playing with her friends, visiting at her grandparents’ house, getting treats from Oma, fixing something with Opa, or swimming in their pool (once we got all the frogs out of course). She had a wonderful childhood in Paraguay.

In 1983, Vanessa, her mom, and her sisters, Tanya and Olivia, moved to Newton, KS. After living there a short time, her mom met and married Alcione (Al) Leite in 1984. This union brought Vanessa a brother and a favorite playmate, Dustin Leite. &nbsp;In 1986, Al adopted all three of the girls, and we all became the Leite Family.

Throughout her life, Vanessa would make fast friends with anyone. Her sense of humor and shenanigans always made her someone that people gravitated towards. Her laugh was one of the BEST laughs ever and if you could get her laughing, it made you feel like you were on top of the world. The loss of her is felt deeply by hundreds of people, all who felt an intense connection to her.

Vanessa loved to play sports, especially soccer, and was always stronger and faster than most of the boys. In fact, there were times, as a child, that people thought she was a boy because of how she dressed and behaved. Some of her favorite things to do were to ride her banana seat bike around town, play kick the can, climb trees, beat her siblings in Super Mario, make forts, and go mess around down by Sand Creek and hope that we didn’t fall in. She also enjoyed watching scary movies while one of her sisters sat on the stairs as a lookout for her parents, so she could warn her if she needed to turn off the movie quickly. One year for Christmas, our brother put her present in a Barbie box, and Vanessa opened it and started crying. She DID NOT want a Barbie! Once she opened the box, she was relieved to see that it was actually an action figure.

Vanessa attended Newton Public School and graduated in 1996. After graduation, she attended Cowley County Community College for one year before transferring to Bethel College. She graduated from Bethel College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and German, which had been her first language in Paraguay. While at Bethel, she studied abroad in Germany and Costa Rica and played forward on the women’s soccer team. She is still one of the top three goal scorers there with 103 goals scored.

Bethel is also where she met the love of her life, Matthew Westerman, and the group of women that she would call her best friends for 24+ years. She had an intense bond with these women, and they had many adventures and trips over the years. Most memorable were their float trips on the Elk River where she always made sure to give her “Vanessa glare” at the men trying to vye for their attention. She made sure to spend a couple of days with them when she would come home for the holidays.

After graduation from Bethel, Vanessa did voluntary service at the Richard M. Cohen AIDS hospice in San Francisco, CA; where she helped homeless men who were dying from AIDS. This experience really opened her heart to those in need, and she gave of her time and talents throughout her life. After working at the hospice, she moved back to Newton and worked at Prairie View Mental Health Hospital for several years.

In 2005, Vanessa moved to Kansas City where she became a certified personal trainer. During that time, she specialized in training women and helping them feel more confident inside and out. She also began competing in figure competitions and won several trophies. She spent many weekends traveling back to Newton or McPherson to love on and spoil her six nephews. Being Auntie Nessa was one of her titles that she was most proud of.

In 2011, Vanessa moved to Fresno, CA to attend Alliant University to study Forensic Psychology. She earned her doctorate in Forensic Psychology in 2016. She began her career with Coalinga State Hospital as an intern in 2015 and over the next 8 years, she would work her way up to Senior Psychologist Specialist in the Assessment Center.

In May 2018, she opened K &amp; L Clinical Forensic Practice with her best friend and business partner, Tamar Kenworthy, PsyD., who had been her professor at Alliant University. In her practice, Vanessa was a mentor to doctoral students, and she was highly respected, both personally and professionally, by the various individuals that she worked with. She worked with local courts and attorneys conducting forensic evaluations and assessments of clients. She was extremely goal-oriented and always looked for ways to expand their practice.

In Fresno, Vanessa enjoyed hiking, watching movies and the Golden Girls, hanging out with friends at the local wineries, taking trips to the beach, and working out. She worked out at Title 29 Fitness where it was known that the men working out would peek over and see what she was lifting so that they could add just a little more weight to their bar!! Vanessa really enjoyed eating and was known to eat several plates of food and then ask if she could eat everyone else’s leftovers. Her favorite food was anything that her mom, Betty, would cook, especially Brazilian food. She loved spending time with her precious rescue dogs, Moose, Bear, and Zero and with her best friend, Tamar and her sons, Logan and Cole. Vanessa was a second mother to those boys and had a special bond with them.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert G. and Myrtle Unruh, fiancé, Matthew Westerman, a nephew, Gabriel Fetsch, and biological father, Armin Klassen.

She is survived by her parents, Alcione (Al) and Elizabeth (Betty) Leite, her sisters, Tanya Leite, Olivia Fetsch (Clay), Sophia Klassen (Bruno González), and Pia Klassen, and brother, Dustin Leite, as well as her step-mother, Bodil Klassen, brother-in-law, Jeremy Chalfant, and her nephews, Ayden, Sylas, Corbyn, and Zeke Chalfant; Owen and Dylan Fetsch; Bruno Gabriel González and nieces, Isabella Maldonado and Viktoria González. She is also survived by a host of family members and friends in Brazil, Paraguay, Germany and Austria as well as in the US.

Vanessa’s wishes were to have her ashes spread at her grandfather’s experimental farm in The Chaco, Paraguay. Her family and friends will travel there in 2024.

A Celebration of Life is planned for May 28, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Cru Winery in Madera, CA. A second Celebration of Life will be on June 4, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Grace Hill Winery in Whitewater, KS.

Gloria L. Roe, 91, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2023, at McPherson Hospital following a brief illness.&nbsp;

Gloria was born on September 2, 1931, in Green, KS.&nbsp; In 1960, the young family moved to McPherson, KS.&nbsp; She worked for several area businesses as a bookkeeper and ended her career as an associate with Walmart when they opened a new store in McPherson.&nbsp;

Gloria valued that she was able to live her entire life independently and “Independent” she was!&nbsp; She will be remembered by many for the pastries and cookies that she baked almost daily and shared with everyone.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Richard) Luthi of McPherson, KS; former daughter-in-law, Becky Roe, of Greenville, MS; seven grandchildren, Tennille (Curtis) Finklea, Wendy Roe Bell, Greg Roe, Shannon (Jennifer) Luthi, Brandon Luthi (Sherry Peterson), Kelli (Tor) Farley, and Tennille (Trey) Hilyard; and 16 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She also held a very special place in her heart for Claire Wiens, whom she always considered one of her own grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Roe, one brother, and one sister.

Tom M. “Turtle” Tregellas, 76, died April 12, 2023, in Hutchinson, KS. He was born January 26, 1947, in Pratt, to John H. and Martha J. (Justice) Tregellas.

Tom was a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve veteran from the Vietnam War. During his life, he enjoyed being a truck driver. He loved taking long drives with his two dogs. Tom was a good friend.

Tom is survived by: his sister, Mary Caroline Stucky, Raymore, MO; nephew, Eric Stucky; and niece, Susan Knapp.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary with Gary Getting officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

James Dean Brown, 89, of Beeler, Kansas, passed away on April 17, 2023 at Shawnee Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center, Overland Park, Kansas.

James, known by most as Jim, was born to George Mason and Carrie Etta (Smith) Brown on July 14, 1933, on the family farm in Alamota, Kansas.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Dighton High School&nbsp; and enlisted in the Army during the Korean War.&nbsp; He served as a paratrooper and completed 27 jumps and had many adventures in Greece including a meeting with some suspicious farmers with pitchforks during one landing.&nbsp; He liked to travel but returned home to help on the farm.&nbsp; He worked on the railroad and retired from the Union Pacific as a foreman in&nbsp;1997.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He&nbsp;continued to farm, share jokes with friends and family on email, and explore herbal cures and natural remedies.&nbsp; He liked to stay abreast of technology and built several televisions.&nbsp; He enjoyed keeping up with the news on his computer, using Amazon Alexa and good food, particularly ice cream.&nbsp; &nbsp;He was a&nbsp;quiet man, practical yet stubbornly optimist, who dared to dream impossible dreams. Jim marched to his own drum and loved&nbsp; the only way he knew how.&nbsp; He said 90% of success in life was just showing up and he made sure that he showed up for his family and friends.

Jim said that he was ready to move on to his other dimension and looked forward to being reunited with beloved daughter Jamie Dea who proceeded him in death in 1978. Jim was also predeceased by his parents, George and Carrie, his sisters Vera Whipple, Velma Stramel, Kitty Fisher, his brother William Brown and nephews Terry Brown and Dick Stramel.&nbsp;

Jim is survived by his daughter, Misty Brown Polo and Matteo Polo (Kansas City), son James G. Brown (Hutchinson), his step-daughter Lorrie Little (Salina) and step-son Marlin Portenier (Dodge City),&nbsp;granddaughters Annagrace and Giulietta and grandsons&nbsp;Damon, Jamon and Gianluca and 25 step grand and great grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Willard Funk, the third of five children, was born on February 8, 1952, to Roy and Mary Ann (Rempel) Funk at Bethesda Hospital in Goessel, Kansas.

He attended Cresswell, a one room country school 6 miles south of Hillsboro from first through third grade. He was sure to inform his first-grade teacher, Frieda Suderman, that "I don't know nuttin." The country schools consolidated, and he began fourth grade in the Hillsboro schools. He was baptized and became a member of Brudertal Mennonite Church, which later united with Johannestal Church and became Trinity Mennonite Church. He represented the youth by turning the first shovel at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Trinity Mennonite Church on May 15, 1966.

Fifty-seven years later, Will attended the final church service at Trinity Mennonite Church on Easter Sunday April 9, 2023. Barely able to speak and stand, he stood up and shared with the congregation what the church and the Christian doctrine had meant to him in his formative years and was the "foundation on which he was standing today."

He grew up on a dairy farm five miles southwest of Hillsboro, where he learned work ethic and commitment, doing daily chores, milking cows and everything that goes with that occupation. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1969 and entered the workforce, first at Donahue in Durham and then Hillsboro Industries.

On a chance meeting through a mutual friend, Willard met Janet Schmidt. What started out to be a casual acquaintance culminated in Holy matrimony on December 28, 1974, at the Lehigh Mennonite Church. They lived in Lehigh, Kansas, where on September 13, 1978, they were blessed with a son, Marshal Craig. After a few years, they moved to McPherson. They joined the First Baptist Church where he was involved in the worship team, singing and playing guitar or banjo. He was employed at Hesston Corporation (now known as AGCO), McPherson Sanitation Department, and most recently, Farmers Alliance.

He was a caregiver for Janet as she fought breast cancer for three years. She passed away on June 9, 2006. As he continued life in McPherson, attending First Baptist Church, he became better acquainted with Mary Shaw, who also had musical interests. When the time was right, he asked Connor, Mary's son, for her hand in marriage and proceeded with his proposal plan, conspiring with Mary's employer, People's Bank &amp; Trust. On a lunch date at Main Street Deli across the street from People's Bank, Will asked about the temperature causing Mary to look across the street and on the People's lighted outdoor marquee sign, she read "Mary, what is your interest in marrying me?" Her reply, "100%." They united their lives in marriage on September 27, 2008, in an outdoor ceremony on a gorgeous fall morning, at the residence of a friend. His family now included two more sons, Ryan and Connor Shaw. He loved Mary's family like his own and loved sharing jokes with Camden, his 11-year-old grandson.

Will loved the outdoors and would never turn down an opportunity to enjoy a campfire, always&nbsp; bringing his guitar and being the entertainment for the evening. His family will never forget the Father's Day FUNKtion Camp Out at Marion Reservoir when he performed his "Funk Daddy" rap, dressed for the part complete with bling; then the next morning leading the worship service with a well thought out meditation. His repertoire included "De Lime in de Coconut",&nbsp;a camp site favorite, which was always requested by great nieces and nephews. After his vision had declined in 2016, he was asked to play guitar at his Uncle Johnnie Rempel's memorial service. He chose one of his favorite songs that he had memorized and didn't need to see music for; "Come Thou Fount."

When severely impaired vision forced him to retire, he continued his upbeat positive spirit. He did daily walks, continued to do yard work and had meals ready when Mary came home from work. He was legally blind, but spending time around him, one would often forget, because he tried very hard to remain independent.

Will enjoyed day trips to small Kansas towns and rides in the country. He attended weekly meetings with the Band of Brothers at church. Time spent with family and friends was a priority. Morning devotions and daily bible reading started his days off and kept him centered.

Four years after having melanoma removed from his arm, it returned in his brain and lung. He continued his positive attitude through treatment. The death of his son, Marshal, in June of 2022 was an extremely difficult time; and was the beginning of a rapid decline in his health. Mary continued to be a constant helping companion, knowing just how much assistance and independence to give him. When, after scans showed the immunotherapy treatments weren't helping to control the lung cancer, Will went on Hospice care on April 12. Some of his last audible words were, "We will all be together again." He peacefully entered his eternal rest, where "we will all be together again" on Saturday evening April 15, 2023. Praise God for His unspeakable (indescribable) gift! II Corinthians 9:15. Many of us can concur with Mary's sentiments, "I am a better person for having known him." He had a humble spirit and a quiet sense of humor that will be missed by many.

Celebrating his life and mourning his loss are his wife, Mary; her sons, Ryan (Jordan) Shaw, their children, Camden, Emercyn and Nolan of Cheney, Kansas and Connor Shaw of Kansas City, Kansas. Also surviving are his brothers, Gerald (Sharon) of Hillsboro, Kansas, Myron (Rochelle) of Wichita, Kansas, Lyle (Elaine) of Hillsboro, Kansas and sister, Elaine (Jim) Baker of Hillsboro, Kansas, his aunt, Lenora Gehring of Moundridge, Kansas, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Mary Ann (Rempel) Funk, first wife, Janet (Schmidt) Funk, and son, Marshal Craig Funk.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM, Friday, April 21, at the McPherson Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM, Friday, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor John Pattison officiating.

Joel Brian Hurd, 48, of Newton, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood, Kansas. He was born May 31, 1974 in Sacramento, California, the son of Millard and Karen (Falline) Hurd.

Joel was a member of Hillcrest Community Foursquare Church in Newton. He helped run the Harvey County Farmer’s Market and was a member on the Food and Farm Council and Harvey County Extension Board.

He was united in marriage to Kerri Lin Fast on December 7, 2002. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Daniel (Ashley Vogan) Hurd; daughter, Haleigh Clay; parents, Millard and Karen Hurd; brothers, David Williamson and Stephen (Carol) Hurd; sister, Cyndi Hurd; and close family members, Todd and Jessica Dempster, and their son, Thomas. He leaves behind In-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joel was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Wayne Fast; nephew, Jacob Hurd; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Joel never met a stranger. He was a quiet, gentle man with a heart of gold. He loved his family more than anything. He had a heart and passion for prayer. He prayed fervently for others and very rarely asked for prayers for himself. He struggled for over 20 years with serious medical conditions, but hardly complained. He helped others as well as he could and as often as he could. He was the listening ear for so many who needed it. Joel was a great husband, dad, uncle, son and friend.

Visitation will be Friday, April 21st from 4-8pm with family present from 6-8pm at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston. Cremation is planned following visitation and a private family burial will take place at Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton KS at a later date. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Hillcrest Community Foursquare Church, Newton, and will be live streamed on their Facebook page.

Robert Wayne Balding, 73, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 11:27 a.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS. Robert was born in Hardtner, KS on May 28, 1949, a son of Richard and Dorothy (Hoffman) Balding. Bob graduated from Nickerson High School in 1967. He then attended Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, KS and graduated from Kansas University, Lawrence, KS with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Bob and his family attended Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson for approximately 25 years, where Bob served as a faithful follower of Christ. Bob and Susan then attended CrossPoint Church, Hutchinson, KS. He served honorably for the United States Army where he was a part of the Special Forces Battalion. Bob was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor For Outstanding Service in connection with military operations against a hostile force during the Vietnam War. Bob was an accountant for many companies throughout his life in Hutchinson, Wichita, Topeka, McPherson and Rose Hill. Bob enjoyed reading, watching and playing golf with his buddies and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. &nbsp; Bob was united in marriage to Susan Spence on June 7, 1975 in Hutchinson, KS. The young couple established their first home together in Hutchinson. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Lance, Adam and Cindy. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Susan Balding, of McPherson, KS; his children, Lance Balding and his wife Lorrie, of Miami, FL, Adam Balding and his wife Hayley, of Apex, NC and Cindy Glover and her husband Brian of Bel Aire, KS; his sister Kathy Howes, of Hutchinson, KS and Pam Berns and her husband Bruce, of Perry, KS. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Trevor, Zachary, Atticus, Ahmya, Lily, Siri, Malachi, and a baby coming in May; other relatives; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Robert was born in Hardtner, KS on May 28, 1949, a son of Richard and Dorothy (Hoffman) Balding. Bob graduated from Nickerson High School in 1967. He then attended Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, KS and graduated from Kansas University, Lawrence, KS with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Bob and his family attended Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson for approximately 25 years, where Bob served as a faithful follower of Christ. Bob and Susan then attended CrossPoint Church, Hutchinson, KS. He served honorably for the United States Army where he was a part of the Special Forces Battalion. Bob was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor For Outstanding Service in connection with military operations against a hostile force during the Vietnam War. Bob was an accountant for many companies throughout his life in Hutchinson, Wichita, Topeka, McPherson and Rose Hill. Bob enjoyed reading, watching and playing golf with his buddies and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. &nbsp; Bob was united in marriage to Susan Spence on June 7, 1975 in Hutchinson, KS. The young couple established their first home together in Hutchinson. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Lance, Adam and Cindy. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Susan Balding, of McPherson, KS; his children, Lance Balding and his wife Lorrie, of Miami, FL, Adam Balding and his wife Hayley, of Apex, NC and Cindy Glover and her husband Brian of Bel Aire, KS; his sister Kathy Howes, of Hutchinson, KS and Pam Berns and her husband Bruce, of Perry, KS. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Trevor, Zachary, Atticus, Ahmya, Lily, Siri, Malachi, and a baby coming in May; other relatives; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Charles Anthony “Chuck” Sallee, 64, of Hutchinson, died April 16, 2023, at his home. He was born October 25, 1958, in Marquette, to James Earl and Esther Marie (Lasiter) Sallee

Chuck worked in construction for many years until he became disabled in 2007. He loved fishing, playing horseshoes, and working on old cars.

In October, 1978, Chuck married Ramone Grossenbach and they had 2 sons together, Thomas and William.

On May 24, 1997, he married Tammi Rae Snyder, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: his sons, Thomas Sallee (Krissy Medallin), William “Willy” Sallee (Amanda), both of Hutchinson; stepson, Dustin Koeppen of Hutchinson; stepdaughter, Amanda Koeppen of Wichita; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Jimmy, Orville, Tony; and a sister, Joyce Shuttleworth.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.

Doroteo “Don” Graham, 91, passed away on April 17, 2023 at Legend of Hutchinson Senior Living, Hutchinson, KS surrounded by his family. He was born on December 1, 1931 in Guadalupita, NM, the son of Max and Maria (Torres) Graham.

In 1949, Don enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged. On May 28, 1972, Don married Mary Hernandez in Hutchinson. Don worked for Western Electric where he was an installer for 18 years and then he worked as an installation supervisor for 13 years. After 31 years of service he retired in 1983. Don was a talented wood carver and taught wood carving seminars at Hutch Rec Center. Don was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe, South Hutchinson. He was very active in his church and ran the church stand at the Kansas State Fair.

Don is survived by his daughter, Gail Richard; son, Bruce Graham; granddaughter, Emily Richard; great granddaughter, Aubrey Olson; great-great grandson, Silas Olson; and nephew, Randy Graham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; brothers, Joe, Phillip, Eddie, Alfonso, and Hugh Graham, Gene and Tony Pacheco; sisters, Emma Graham, Vergie Gonzales and Juanita Pacheco; and grandson, Adam Capps.

MaryAnn Geist Potter entered her heavenly home on April 15, 2023 at Crown Healthcare and Rehab Center in Harrisonville, MO. She was the daughter of Harlen J. Geist and Elsie I. Beatty Geist, and was born on December 6, 1926 in Sterling, (Rice County), Kansas. At age 15 she gave birth to a daughter who was adopted by Roy and Beatrice Hobbs.

After graduating from Luray High School, Luray, Kansas, she married Glenn Flickinger. They had 3 children, William, Richard and Laura. Later they divorced. On June 10, 1961, MaryAnn married Bud Potter. They were happily married until the time of his passing 20 years later.

She was part owner of D.C. Potter, Inc. and was manager for many years. MaryAnn was past Matron of Eastern Star, past Royal Matron Order of Amaranth, past president Social Order of Beauceant in Hutchinson, Newton, and Wichita. From 1984-1985 she served as Grand Guardian, Kansas International Order of Job’s Daughters and Supreme Finance Committee, International Order of Job’s Daughters.

In 1990 she was reunited with her daughter, Karen “Sue” Bedosky. In 2016 she moved to Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, MO to be near her daughter.

MaryAnn is survived by: her brother, Melvin Geist, Greeley, CO; children, Karen Sue Hobbs Bedosky, Harrisonville, MO, Richard Flickinger (Wendy), Abbyville, Laura Mae Flickinger Reger; and many grandchildren and great-children.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Flickinger.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2023, at Elliott Chapel, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. The casket will remain closed.

Rick Euliss, age 64, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Thursday, April 13, 2023, 
in Haskell County, Kansas. He was born April 9, 1959, in Dodge City, 
Kansas, the son of Paul and Willetta “Billie” (Morris) Euliss. 
Rick grew up in West Plains, Missouri, and Satanta, Kansas. He married 
Lori Parks on October 18, 1980, in Ulysses. Rick enjoyed his work in 
the oilfield, working for Dowell, Mobil, BP and most recently Linn 
Energy as a production Supervisor. He was currently driving a truck for
 El Dorado Trucking. Rick enjoyed fishing, camping and was a great 
cook. He loved spending time with his family, especially his kids and 
grandkids. 
Rick is survived by his wife, Lori of their home; children, Reanna Ramos
 and husband David of Amarillo, Texas, Micah Euliss-Torres and husband 
Armando of Ulysses, Donna Olivas and husband Refugio of Johnson, Preston
 Euliss of Ulysses, Lisa Boyce and husband Vincent of Las Vegas, Nevada,
 and Meagan Martinez and husband Chris of Hutchinson, Kansas; brothers, 
Paul Euliss, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Elmwood, Oklahoma; Kyle Euliss and 
wife Kellie of Ulysses, and John Euliss and wife Kendra of Ulysses; 13

His other interests included hunting, fishing, sports and coaching. Born on Apr. 1st, 1933 in Lacrosse, KS he was the son of Henry &amp; Helen (Black) Schwab. Duane grew up in Lacrosse graduating from High School in 1952 where he excelled in athletics receiving many offers to further his sports career. He decided to serve in the US Navy instead.&nbsp;After his time in the service, Duane married Thelma Stanley; he then moved his family to Wyoming. During their time there, Duane worked in the oilfield around the towns of Casper and Bairoil. Thelma passed away in 1967 and in 1970 the Schwab family moved to Ellinwood where Duane was blessed to operator his oilfield business, Schwab's Tinker Shop, Inc alongside his son John. Their operation spanned multiple states and countries. Duane was a true craftsman; together he and son John invented and engineered a handful of devices to be used throughout the oilfield.&nbsp;Duane married Kathleen M. Komarek in 1991 at the home of his son in Liberal, KS.&nbsp;Duane also owned Schwabie’s Place, the restaurant that later became John Henry's. Schwabie's passion was collecting and working on Model T and A cars. He was a member of auto clubs in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas.&nbsp;Duane also loved to fish and spent lots of time at Kanopolis Lake with his betterhalf, Kathy.

Survivors include wife, Kathleen M. Schwab, Ellinwood, KS; son, John and wife Amanda, Liberal, KS; grandchildren, Nique (Todd) Brown, Whitney (David) Hampton, Dallas Schwab (companion Stacie), Johnette (Dustin) Johnson, Kendra Bozarth; and 16 beloved great-grandchildren. Kenneth Robert “Kenny” Conner, 79, died April 14, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born October 17, 1943, in Pratt, to Harry Ivan and Emily Belle (Carmichael) Conner.

Kenny graduated from Pratt High School.&nbsp; He worked for Reno County Fire District #2, retiring as Captain.&nbsp; After retirement, he worked as a custodian at his church, Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, and as a ticket-taker during the Kansas State Fair. &nbsp;Many individuals will remember Kenny as the gentleman who roller-skated all over Hutchinson. He served in the United States Navy, and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Burrton.

On June 12, 1999, he married Connie (Krehbiel) Hiebert.&nbsp; She died July 21, 2014.

Kenny is survived by:&nbsp; daughters, Sarah Voran (Aaron) and Dena Christine Conner, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Matthew Guara, Riley Voran, and Lillie Voran, Gena Gonzales, Jacob Perry, and Josh Perry; great-grandchildren, Dante, Emilee, Jayden, and Ashlyn Gonzales; stepdaughters, Angela Kuhn and Angela Fosdick; stepsons, Chris Hiebert (Rex Cheever) and Glen Eschberger; step-grandchildren, Karole and Abbie; sisters, Carol Sue Jones and Connie Lou Holt (Ron); and sister-in-law, Sandy Conner.

Sandra Elizabeth Berg, 64, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away on October 11, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. Sandi graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1976 and went on to attend Hesston College in Kansas to earn her Degree in Nursing. She was employed at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

Sandi enjoyed traveling, knitting, bird watching, drawing, writing and spending time with friends. She was always researching something new and exciting.

She is survived by sisters of the heart: Cynthia Welch of McPherson, Ks, Debbie (Mark) Mock of Hutchinson, KS, Heike (Toby) Karnes of Lindsborg, KS; Brothers of the heart: Gene Ellis of Salina, KS and Wesley Bierig of Salina, KS. Donald E. “Donnie” Bowman, 81, of Winfield, passed away at 11:15 
a.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital in Tulsa.&nbsp;

Donald Earl Bowman was born on September 16, 1941, 15 minutes after 
his twin, Ronnie, to Merle Francis and Elma Gladys (Friend) Bowman in 
Coldwater, Kansas.&nbsp; As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in 
Coldwater, where he graduated from Coldwater High School in 1960.

Following high school, Donnie attended Friends University in Wichita,
 Fort Hays State University and earned his Barber’s license.&nbsp; For 11 
years, Donnie worked as a barber before beginning his career with a 
pipeline company.&nbsp; He worked as a welder and lead measurement technician
 for Panhandle Eastern Company and lived in Guymon, Oklahoma.&nbsp; In 1998, 
he retired and moved to Westcliffe, Colorado, where he lived until 
moving to Winfield in 2008.

He attended the Winfield Nazarene Church.&nbsp; Donnie loved his family.&nbsp; 
His wife’s cooking was always a favorite and one of his last requests 
was her German Chocolate cake and ice cream.

On October 14, 1962, Donnie and Linda K. Williams were united in 
marriage at the Assembly of God Church in Coldwater.&nbsp; She survives of 
the home.

One daughter – Joyce Latham and her husband, Larry, of Conway, Arkansas

One son – Ashley Bowman of Cleveland, Oklahoma

Timothy Raymond Oglesby, loving husband, dad, and “Grandpa/Pappo," departed for his eternal heavenly home on April 13, 2023, after a brief 
battle with pneumonia. Tim, the son of Freeman and Erma Delores “Buzzy” 
(Carpenter) Oglesby, was born on March 8, 1951, in Independence, Missouri
 but spent much of his childhood and adolescence in Ashland, Nebraska. 
He and his siblings David, Melissa, and Suzy enjoyed an adventurous 
youth, and the retelling of their exploits continue to entertain even 
decades later. They never let facts get in the way of a good story. &nbsp;

Tim graduated from Ashland High School in 1969 and began his college 
career at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he met his 
wife Connie Friedley over their shared love of worship. They wed in 
1971, and Tim continued his academic journey at the University of 
Nebraska in Lincoln, where he received a bnachelor’s degree in Music 
Education in 1974. Tim taught music briefly before discovering his 
charismatic personality lent itself perfectly to a career in sales, and 
he spent 30 years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. Tim and 
Connie welcomed their son Nicholas in 1981 and daughter Christina in 
1985. The young family attended The Father’s House Church in Hutchinson,
 where Tim and Connie continued sharing their love of music leading 
worship until Connie lost her lengthy battle with breast cancer in 1991.

Tim found his second chance at happiness when he met Jackie Ellis at 
church, and they joined their two families including Jackie’s son Luke 
and daughter Sarah in December 1992. Tim and Jackie’s spiritual journey 
led them to convert to Catholicism in 2013, and Tim went on to receive 
his Master’s in Theological Studies at Newman University in Wichita in 
2015. He created his catechism class “On Fire Catholic University,"&nbsp; which allowed him the opportunity to share his passion for the faith. 
When he wasn’t preparing for class, he loved connecting with family and 
friends and cheering on his beloved Huskers and Chiefs.

Tim leaves behind his wife Jackie, son Luke (Laura) Ellis, daughter 
Sarah (Eric) Horton, son Nicholas (Kari) Oglesby, and daughter Christina
 (Yancy) Young and all three of his siblings. He also leaves behind 11 
grandchildren – Landen, John, Lincoln, Abel, Genevieve, Shepherd, 
Guinevere, Sebastian, Callahan, Violet, and Hildegard. He was preceded 
in death by his parents, his first wife Connie, and granddaughter 
Samantha.

Teaching the faith sustained him all his life and he was a powerful 
witness to the love of the Lord, until he saw him face to face. To know 
Tim, was to be his family, he never met a person who stayed a stranger.&nbsp;

Karen Kaye Rickett, 83, died April 9, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born February 11, 1940, in Hutchinson, to Elmer and Velma (Rich) Norquist.

In 1958 she married Michael Arthur McKeown and they had three sons together. She then married Bobby Dale Rickett on April 21, 1972. He passed away on May 13, 2003.

They had been married 31 years. Karen was primarily a homemaker, though she also had many other jobs throughout her life.

She is survived by: sons, Timothy McKeown (Sue), Cheney, Trenton McKeown (Kristine), Hutchinson; grandson, Travis McKeown, Hutchinson; granddaughter, Ashley McKeown, Bigelow, AR; three step children, David Rickett (Tammy), Shellee Hansen (Rocky), Darcee Vernon; and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Karen was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Bobby; son, Thomas McKeown; and brother, Robert Norquist.

Ethel Estalene Ferguson, 87, of Hutchinson, died April 6, 2023, at Legend Senior Living. She was born March 16, 1936, in Burr Oak, to Alfred Edgar and Verda May (Dillon) Glover.

Estalene graduated from Haviland Friends Academy in 1953 and Friends Bible College, Haviland, in 1955. She enjoyed cooking, playing games, puzzles, journaling, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Estalene was active in the Haviland community for many years before moving to Hutchinson in 2001. She was a member of the Friends Church.

On November 23, 1956, Estalene married Floyd P. Ferguson, in North Branch. They shared nearly 64 years of marriage before his death on November 3, 2020.

She is survived by: her children, Sheri Elliott (Raymond) of Haviland, Debbie Davis (Craig) of Orange, CA, Bryan Ferguson (Tina) of Oregon City, OR; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

They shared nearly 64 years of marriage before his death on November 3, 2020.She is survived by: her children, Sheri Elliott (Raymond) of Haviland, Debbie Davis (Craig) of Orange, CA, Bryan Ferguson (Tina) of Oregon City, OR; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.She was preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Wilda Baker; and a brother, LaVae Glover.Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Haviland Community Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Friends Church Youth Building in Haviland.Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday at Elliott Mortuary.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Barclay College or Traditions Health, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
