Agnes M. (Beat) Pauly, 101, of Mesa, AZ, died December 26, 2022, at 
her home. She was born May 26, 1921, in Murdock, KS, to William F. and 
Gertrude B. (Struble) Beat.

Agnes graduated from Kingman High School in 1940 and St. Francis School of Nursing in 1943. She was a 1st
 Lt. in the United States Army from 1944-1946, where she served as a 
Flight Nurse, transporting wounded soldiers back from the Pacific. Agnes
 loved to travel. She was active in the church until 2014, when she 
moved to Arizona. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Agnes was a 
member of St. Francis Nurses Alumni, Daughters of Isabella, Holy Cross 
Altar Society, Harvest House, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

On September 24, 1946, she married the love of her life, Cyril Edward
 Pauly, in Waterloo, KS. They were married for over 20 years before his 
passing on October 28, 1966.

Agnes is survived by: daughter, Sharon Boyer; grandson, Chad (Haila) 
Boyer; great-grandchildren, Kimber and Darrel Boyer; sister, Luella 
Vaughan; godchildren, Barb Winterfield and Tim Pauly; and many nieces 
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents, William &amp; Gertrude Beat; 
husband, Cyril Pauly; daughter, Karen Turnis; son, Dennis Pauly; 
brothers, Doyle, Edward, Edwin, and John Beat; sisters, Isabelle 
Hoffman, Betty Custer, Mary Kay Rausch and infant sister Catherine Beat;
 and godson, James Pauly.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023, followed by 
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631
 Independence Rd, Hutchinson with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. 
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the book 
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary. 
Cremation has taken place.

Carol Louise Greenway (Brunner), Tonganoxie, formerly of Hutchinson, 
KS passed away April 5, 2023, at age 72. Carol was born on July 29th,
 1950, to Eugene and Aliene Brunner in Fort Riley, Kansas. 

Carol was 
raised an Army “brat” and lived in Japan and Germany before moving back 
to the US. Carol graduated from Manhattan High School, class of 1968. 

In
 1968, while roller skating with some friends, Carol met her husband, 
Richard and they were married just a few short months later. They 
enjoyed 51 years together before his death in 2020. Prior to retirement,


 Carol worked as a chef and kitchen manager. Carol spent much of her 
retirement watching her grandchildren in their activities. Carol 
volunteered as a caregiver for the mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) 
through Westside Family Church. 

When her grandchildren attended Genesis 
Christian Academy, Carol volunteered often and helped every week 
preparing hot lunch. For over 50 years Carol was a member of Beta Sigma 
Phi, Lawrence, KS. She very much enjoyed socializing with friends, going
 to the casino and she could always be found cheering for her beloved KC
 Royals, Chiefs and Wildcats. 

Carol is survived by her two children, 
Richard Terry Greenway, Jr. (Candi) of The Colony, Texas, and Rhonda 
(Greenway) Overacker (Greg) of Tonganoxie, Kansas, three grandchildren, 
Gabrielle Greenway, Griffin Overacker and Carly Overacker and one 
great-grand-daughter, Isabella Grace Ruggiero. 

She was preceded in death
 by her husband of 51 years, her first grandson, Casey James Overacker, 
her mother, father, and brother, Larry Brunner. Cremation has taken 
place at her request. 

Family and friends are respectfully invited to

Carol Louise Greenway

Nancy Ann Layton, age 81, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away peacefully 
at her home in McPherson, Kansas at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2023. 
 Mrs. Layton was born Nancy Ann Modlin on October 18, 1941, in Beloit, 
Kansas. She was the only child of George Henry and Grace Oliver (Alcorn)
 Modlin. Nancy grew up in Randall, Kansas, where she went to 
school through the 6th grade. Her father’s employment took the family to
 Wichita, Kansas, for one year and Jamestown, Kansas, for one year where 
Nancy attended schools until the family returned to Randall in 1955. She
 graduated from Randall Rural High School in 1959. After 
attending Fort Hays State College for one year, Nancy enrolled at 
Personnel Training Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon graduating, she 
moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed by United Airlines. 
 She was engaged to Dennis Layton in 1960 and they were married in 
Lynwood, California, on May 7, 1961. They would live in Whittier, Covina 
and eventually Glendora, California, where they made their home and 
raised their family. Nancy resumed her working career outside 
the home in 1972 with Foothill Medical Laboratory and then Dr. Jack 
Bostwick, both in Glendora, CA, until 1979. She then had the opportunity
 for employment with the CPA firm of Campbell, Graves and Associates 
Inc., also in Glendora, where she worked until 1992. Nancy ended her 
working career with the firm of Gill &amp; Knowles Accountancy Corp. in 
Upland, CA, where she was office manager, retiring in 1994. 
After retirement, she and her husband Dennis returned to Kansas and 
lived in Concordia until 2002 before moving to Hillsboro, Kansas. Then 
in 2006 they moved to McPherson, where Nancy called home until her 
death. Nancy was baptized into the Methodist faith as an 
infant. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in 
McPherson. She was a former member of SASNAK Study Club, Concordia, KS. 
She was initiated into Concordia P.E.O. Chapter EV in December 1999. She
 demitted to Chapter DB in Marion, KS in September 2001. Upon her move 
to McPherson, she demitted to Chapter AY in 2007. Nancy was a member of 
McPherson Hospital Volunteer Services for many years and truly enjoyed 
giving of her time to help others. She was also a former member of the 
Ladies Auxiliary if the Alhambra Fire Department, Alhambra, CA. 
 Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great 
grandmother and a dear friend to many. Nancy made friends easily. Her 
smile and her quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 
She was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. And she 
was especially proud of her grandchildren and what they have 
accomplished in their young lives. Nancy loved all kinds of 
music, especially rock and roll in her younger days. She liked classical
 music and even grudgingly learned to like country western in her later 
years. She was an avid reader and she loved to work in her flower 
garden. She also loved to walk and would do so daily until she was no 
longer able to due to her health. She loved to travel and see new 
places. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Stacey Lynne Cordell and a grandson Russell Gregory Layton. 
 Nancy is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Dennis of McPherson,
 Kansas; her son, Greg and wife Loretta of Glendora, CA; four 
grandchildren, Kyle Layton of Concord, CA, Luke Layton and wife Taylor 
of Glendora, CA, Tyler Cordell and wife Caitlyn of Manhattan, KS and 
Kailey Cordell of Kansas City, MO; two great grandchildren, Isla 
Cordell, Manhattan, KS and Amelia Layton, Glendora, CA. 
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2023, at 
Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel, McPherson, KS. Funeral will be 10:30 
a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in

Nancy Ann Layton

Charles Louis Ridge, 79, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at Wheatlands
 Health Care Center in Kingman. He was born on January 1, 1944, in Pratt 
to Charley F. and Fern L. (Thompson) Ridge. Charles married Pat 
(Gilstrap) Donelson on April 17, 2009, in Cunningham. They were married 
for 13 years. Charles graduated from Isabel High School. He 
worked as a lifelong farmer. He was a member of The Cunningham Lions 
Club and First Baptist Church in Medicine Lodge, and later attended the 
Cunningham Christian Church. He loved farming. He also enjoyed church 
activities, fishing, his dog "Maya" and most of all his family, 
especially his wife. He is survived by his wife, Pat; 
stepchildren, Beth Patton of Cunningham, Grace Patton of Pratt, Jim 
(Michelle) Patton of Newton and John Patton of Pratt; sisters, Evelyn 
Hunt of Wichita and Helen Bailey of Pratt; 7 grandchildren; and 9 
great-grandchildren. Charles is preceded in death by his parents and brother in-law, Benny Bailey.

Danny Louis Ramey, 75, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away March 31, 2023, at his home. He was born December 16, 1947, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Louis Dale and Bessie Elnora Davidson Ramey. 

Danny has resided in Lyons since 2016, formerly of Kinsley, Kansas. He attended Kinsley High School. Danny was a machinist. He enjoyed woodworking and fixing up homes. 

Danny is survived by his son, Danny L.D. Ramey and wife Laura of Emporia, KS; daughter, Michele Seeman and husband Steve of Larned, KS; brother, David Santner and wife Beth of Las Cruces, NM; sister, Debra Blevins and husband James of Louis, KS; five grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Wayne Ramey; daughter, Lorie Lee Ramey; brother, Ronald Santner; and niece, Cheri Green. 

Cremation has taken place. No service will be held per Danny’s request.

Pamela F. “Pam” Goforth, 74, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away March 31, 2023, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born March 4, 1949, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the daughter of Loyal and Ilene Abbott French. Pam has resided in Lyons for the past 10 years, formerly of Bushton, Kansas.

She graduated from Bountiful High School, Bountiful, Utah with the class of 1967. She was a school bus driver for many years and clerk at the G-Stop in Geneseo, Kansas.

Pam was a member of the Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, Holyrood. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid domino and bingo player. On August 31, 1971, Pam was united in marriage with G. Douglas Goforth in Bountiful, Utah. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2007. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Doug Goforth; daughter, April Phillips; brother, John French; and sister, Teri French.

Pam is survived by her son, Cody Goforth and wife Jessica of Lyons, KS; daughter, Danielle Bowen and husband David of Newton, KS; grandchildren, Solomon Goforth and Avery Goforth both of Lyons, KS, Adam Schremmer (Elizabeth) of Hoisington, KS, Meghan Doyle (Zach) of Great Bend, KS, Madison Doyle (Caden) of Great Bend, KS, Macy Phillips, Gavin Erskine, Adian Erskine, and T.J. Erskine; and great-grandchildren, Derek, Quinton, Liam, Aurora, Lincoln, and Ryan.

She was a school bus driver for many years and clerk at the G-Stop in Geneseo, Kansas.Pam was a member of the Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ, Holyrood. She enjoyed quilting and was an avid domino and bingo player. On August 31, 1971, Pam was united in marriage with G. Douglas Goforth in Bountiful, Utah. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2007. Pamela F. 'Pam' Goforth |1949-2023|

Lyle Jay Brothers, 87, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away March 31, 2023, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. He was born March 7, 1936, in Saxman, Kansas, the son of Jay M. and Sylvia M. Engelland Brothers. Lyle was a lifetime Rice County resident. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1954. 

On October 31, 1954, Lyle was united in marriage with Patricia Ruth “Pat” Swenson in Lyons. Together they raised four children; Mike Brothers and wife JoAnn of Lyons, KS, Karen Malone and husband Brad of Manhattan, KS, Susan Tobias and husband Curtis of Lyons, KS, and Tricia Brothers of Newton, KS. He was blessed with nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. 

Immediate family includes; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn (Swenson) Wilson and husband Fred of Traverse City, MI, and Telva Swenson of Kansas City, KS; and many nieces, nephews as well as extended family. 

Lyle was a farmer, dairyman, and past owner of Hutchinson Livestock. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Lyons, where he served as a trustee. He was a former trustee and treasurer of the former Saxman Presbyterian Church. Lyle was active in both civic and community organizations such as the Royal Masonic Lodge #192, Lyons, Wichita Scottish Rite as a 33rd Degree Mason, Meridian Shriners, and Order of the Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter #32. He served on the Board of Directors for Camp Wa-Ja-To and was past President of Rice County Farm Bureau. 

Lyle enjoyed collecting toy tractors, wood carving, RC cars, and model railroad trains. Lyle also enjoyed spending winters with many close friends at Fun-N-Sun in San Benito, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Brothers; infant brother, Lurton Brothers; and sister, Joleen Ottlinger. 

Funeral service was Friday, April 7, 2023, at the First Christian Church, Lyons, with Pastor Nickia Larson and Rev. Jim Anderson officiating. Burial was at the Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling.

LuHelen Zink, 93, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Grand Plains 
Skilled Nursing in Pratt. She was born on August 2, 1929, near Neola, 
Kansas to William Carl and Bertha Lillian (Hodson) Smith. LuHelen 
married Grover Alan Zink on December 13, 1951, in St. John. He preceded 
her in death on June 10, 2007. LuHelen graduated from Turon 
High School in 1947. She was a homemaker, member of Turon Christian 
Community Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and served 
as 7th District President from 1965-1966. She enjoyed genealogy, 
correspondence and was known as the local historian. She is 
survived by her sons, Gary A. (Kathy) Zink of Ponca City, Oklahoma, 
Timothy K. (Lori Holcomb) Zink of St. Louis, Missouri and Andrew T. 
(Donna Stueve) Zink of Turon; son in-law, Brennan Byrne of Pennsylvania;
 brother, Thayer (Kay) Smith of Ellsworth; sister in-law, Norma Lee 
Smith of Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a

Marvin Leonard Helsel, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 
Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield. He was born on November 3, 1942, in 
Pratt to Harry Delbert and Orpha (Leonard) Helsel. Marvin married Judy 
(Branch) Helsel on July 29, 1972, in Pratt. They were married for 50 
years. Marvin graduated from Pratt High School in 1961. He 
joined the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He 
attended Pratt Community College and Southeastern Oklahoma State 
University. He worked for Terminex for several years and then opened A1 
Pest Control. In 1994, he and Judy opened Quality Laundry in Pratt and 
operated it for 30 years. He was a member of Pratt Free Methodist Church
 and Gideons. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. He enjoyed 
hunting, fishing, working on cars, building things, walking, watching 
his daily television shows and westerns, taking day trips, repairing and
 maintaining household appliances, and loved being a husband, father and
 Papa. He never complained about anything in life. He is 
survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Christina Helsel and Mary (Tron 
Kitson) Divine; grandchildren, Conrad Burns and Audrey Burns all of 
Pratt; sister, Margorie (Allen) Long of St. John; and numerous nieces, 
nephews and cousins. Marvin is preceded in death by his 
father, Harry Delbert Helsel; mother, Orpha Deselms; sister, Vera Alice 
Scott; brother, William Richard Helsel; and son in-law, Robert Divine.

Deidre Margaret Rosario, 67, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 4th, 2023.

Deidre was born in Queens, New York, on July 10, 1955, a daughter of Joy Carlene (Clark) and Thomas John Kilbride.

She served in the United States Air Force from August 1985 to November 1985.

On February 9, 1993, Deidre married Andres Rosario, Jr. in New York.

Survivors
 include her husband, Andres of the home; son, Andres Rosario III, 
(Odalis) of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Yudalis, Amanda, Stephan; 
four great grandchildren, Mia, Amor, Rose, and Elvis.

Deidre
 is also survived by three sisters, Jolene Larson (Robert), of 
McPherson, Kansas,  Denise Petrie (Dan), of Long Island, New York, Reene
 Edelman (Larry), of Upstate New York and brothers, Thomas Kilbride, of 
McPherson, Kansas, Barry Kilbride, (Terri), of Burton, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bryan Kilbride.

Born September 18, 1935, at Hutchinson she was the daughter of Delmar and
 Bessie Baber Steinhardt. 

She was a 1954 Stafford High School graduate 
and attended Emporia State University. She was a dental assistant in 
Austin, Texas before returning to Stafford in 2001. She was an Auxiliary
 Member of the American Legion and the Bridge Club, both of Stafford. On
 February 29, 2004, she married Monte Kimble.&nbsp; She is survived by her 
husband, Monte.&nbsp; She was the mother of five children: Regina (Jon) 
Sanchez, Brenda Schartz, Kyle Waters, Kirk Waters and Shelli (Michael) 
Rochford. Brother: Lee Steinhardt. Sister: Dee Ann Rankin. 14 grandchildren. 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sister: Peggy Leach and grandson: Jordan Charles Waters.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 6, at Minnis 
Chapel, Stafford. Burial will be at Neeland Cemetery. Visitation will be

Gary Gene Weible, 84, of McPherson, KS, passed away Tuesday, April , 2023, at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro, Kansas. Gary was born in Hutchinson, KS on February 10, 1939, the son of Edward Henry and Ramona (Whealy) Weible. 
 Gary attended Wickersham grade School, Lincoln Grade School, Park 
School, McPherson Junior High. He graduated from McPherson High School, 
McPherson in 1957. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in McPherson. 
 Gary worked in the oil fields in McPherson, Oklahoma, California, and 
the Gulf of Mexico for 28 years. He also worked for area farmers as a 
hired hand, for area construction companies and finished his career as a
 truck driver for McPherson Concrete Products. Gary enjoyed sports, working with his crew and spending time with his friends. He is survived by a daughter Amy Weible; and a cousin, Janice Oden of Sterling, Kansas. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Walter Eugene Weible. Cremation is planned and burial of cremains will be at Prairielawn Cemetery, Wellington, KS. There will be no services.&nbsp;

Robin Lynn (Nicewander) Macy was born November 6, 1958, in Clay Center, Kansas, the second of two children born to Ralph Nicewander and Leola Stites Nicewander. She died on April 4, 2023.

She attended Clay Center schools, graduating from Clay Center Community High School in 1977. During high school, Robin started working at age 14 as a waitress at The Jiffy Inn in Clay Center, then worked in various jobs as a retail salesclerk. In later years she worked in office jobs.

Robin was married to John Macy of Augusta, Kansas on November 27, 1982, at the Clay Center Wesleyan Church. They briefly lived in rural Augusta for about 18 months, then moved to the farm that John had purchased before their marriage in rural Miltonvale, KS where they had made their home for the past 39 years.

John and Robin were blessed with two children: Nicole Eilene in 1984 and Nathaniel Wesley in 1988.

Robin devoted her life to her home and family. She was a meticulous keeper of the home. She had a strong artistic bent, both in and around the house with the seasonal decorating and landscaping. She was a quiet extrovert who enjoyed being around people. Throughout her illness, she saw the medical care givers, particularly at the Tammy Walker Cancer, as well as other patients, as her ministry.

She saw this as her opportunity to impact others with the love of Christ, seeing this as part of God's sovereign design in her own battle with cancer.

She was a devoted member of the Concordia Wesleyan Church.

Robin was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Nicewander.

She is survived by her husband, John Macy of Miltonvale, Kansas; daughter, Nicole Macy of Balynure County Antrim, Northern Ireland; son, Nathaniel of Center, Kansas; grandson, Elijah; granddaughter, Audra; mother, Leola Nicewander of Clay Center, Kansas; brother, Edward Nicewander of Hutchinson, Kansas, and lifelong dear friend, Vickie Coover, of Barnard, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, from 4-7 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, KS.

Funeral Services for Robin will be on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Concordia Wesleyan Church in Concordia, KS.

Burial will take place following the service at Wesleyan No. 7 Cemetery, Clay County, KS.

Ofelia “Faye” (Rodriguez) Garcia, 93, died April 4, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 12, 1929, in Newton, to Severo and Teresa (Grajeda) Rodriguez.

Faye was a housewife and dedicated her time to her children. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking, but there was not anything she loved more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson.

On October 29, 1949, Faye married Rudolf M. Garcia, in Newton. They shared over 68 years of marriage, prior to his death on August 23, 2018.

Faye is survived by: her children, Cecilia Eldredge, Helen (Thomas) Weis, Rudolf M. (Kelly) Garcia Jr., all of Hutchinson; sisters, Henrietta Cavillo of Hutchinson, Martha Gomez of Newton; 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; son-in-law Charles Eldredge; two brothers; and five sisters.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023, followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple St, South Hutchinson, with father Eric M. Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. &nbsp;

Leora ‘Lee’ Faye Hard, 83, of Hutchinson, KS, entered into the kingdom of Heaven, amid much rejoicing by those gone on before, on April 4, 2023, breaking free from the chains of dementia.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was born on December 26, 1939, to Lloyd and Ethel Smith in Arion, Iowa.&nbsp; Leora graduated from Dow City Area Community High School in 1958.

After graduation, she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.&nbsp; Leora later worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Underground Vaults and Storage in Hutchinson, KS, where she worked for 36 years, retiring in 2003. &nbsp; She began her employment in the mine 650’ underground, and ended her career at the corporate offices on Halstead Street.&nbsp; Leora’s picture hangs in the present-day Strataca Underground Salt Museum.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

After attending school together for many years, she finally caught the eye of Darrell B. Hard who offered her a ride home, and the rest is beautiful history! &nbsp; Darrell and Leora were married in Carroll, Iowa, on June 21, 1963.&nbsp; They moved to Hutchinson, KS in 1964.&nbsp; &nbsp; Leora and Darrell were blessed with a son, Darren (Christy) Hard and daughter, Monie (Bill) Arnett.&nbsp; Her family continued to grow with two granddaughters, Jordan Brooke (Tyler) Davis and Madison Lee (Brett) Arnett, one grandson, Justin Alan (Acelee) Hard, and four great- grandchildren, Liani, Lincoln, and Graham Davis, and Liylah Arnett.&nbsp;

Leora was actively involved with her family and her community.&nbsp; She was a member of the USD 313 School Board from 1982-84 and served as the treasurer of Rural Water District #4 for over 30 years.&nbsp; Leora belonged to the Women of the Moose Chapter #1371, Hutchinson, serving as the Sr. Regent and Deputy Grand Regent for Kansas in 1998-99.&nbsp; &nbsp; She was a member of Silver Leaf Chapter #464, Order of the Eastern Star, for 38 years. &nbsp; Leora was a Methodist her entire life, and faithfully attended First United Methodist Church of Hutchinson since moving to Hutchinson.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Darrell, and all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of the Hutchinson and the surrounding area, as well as sister-in-law, Lois Thompson, and brothers-in-law, Burdette Hard of Iowa and Harold Singbeil of Nevada.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1st Avenue, Hutchinson, KS, with the Reverend Kent H. Sandy was a lifetime Hutchinson resident, a 1965 graduate of Hutchinson High School and a retired bookkeeper at Good Samaritan Village.

Kyle Jacob Sisson, 38, of McPherson, KS, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at his home.&nbsp;

Kyle was born on May 16, 1984, in McPherson, KS, the son of James Randal and Helen Ludwena (Gruenbacher) Sisson.&nbsp; He graduated from Spearville High School in 2003 and attended Hutchinson Community College on a track scholarship.&nbsp; He then enlisted in the Navy Seabees and served his country for seven years.&nbsp; Kyle was currently enrolled as a fulltime student at McPherson College.&nbsp;

Donald Gale Gillock, 83, formerly of South Hutchinson, passed away April 3, 2023 in his home in Lawrence, with his family by his side. He was born May 7, 1939, in Nickerson, to George and Esther (Moore) Gillock.

Don graduated from Nickerson High School in 1958. He was a welder and retired from Hesston Corporation in 2001 after 27 years of service. Don had previously worked at Superior Boiler Works in Hutchinson. In 1964, he married Elizabeth Ann Calcote, She preceded him death. Don was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son Eric (Hilary) Gillock; daughter Molly Thomas; four grandchildren; and brother John Gillock. Don was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt. He shot competition trap, skeet, and sporting clays for many years and won a multitude of trophies and awards. In his later years Don enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, hunting for antlers, and crafted many beautiful walking sticks and canes out of cedar.Don was a member of the NRA, ACA, KTA, and NSCA.

Donald Gale Gillock |1939-2023|

Stephen R. Williams, 81, of Newton, Kansas died on Monday, April 3, 2023. Steve was born on January 4, 1941 in Wellington, Kansas to Leonard and Opal Williams.

Steve grew up in Wellington, Kansas where he graduated from Wellington High School in May 1960. &nbsp;He went on and attended Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia and graduated in 1964 with a BS in Education. While in college, Steve met his wife, Cheryl, through a blind date. They were married on June 28, 1964 in El Dorado, Kansas.

Steve and Cheryl made their home in Salina, Kansas next door to Harold and Florence Eisenhauer. The Eisenhauers’ became like another set of parents to them. Marci was born in 1969 and in 1971, Marc joined the family. While living in Salina, Steve taught English at Salina High School while pursuing his Masters in School Administration from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia. &nbsp;He graduated with a MS in School Administration in August of 1969. In 1971, Steve became Assistant Principal/Activities Director at Salina High School South.

The family moved to Newton in 1976 when Steve became Principal at Newton High School. In 1980, he changed his career and worked at Hesston Corporation holding various positions. In 1990, Steve was called to return to education and became principal at Salina High School Central.&nbsp; He held that position for eleven years until he retired. In the summer of 2001, Steve and Cheryl moved back to Newton where they have made their home since. &nbsp;Steve held many retirement jobs, but he was most proud of his time serving as a consultant for the Kansas Health Foundation.

Steve was also honored to be a member of the Army Reserves from 1967-1976. He chose the Reserves because they had an opening, and he was accepted. He was sent into active duty in 1968 for 5 months.

Steve was a proud alumnus of Emporia State University, formerly known as the Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia. Steve gave many of his years to the University serving on the Alumni Board and the Emporia State Foundation Board of Trustees.&nbsp; Steve was honored to be Chair of the Foundation from 2015-2017.

He enjoyed golfing, playing cards with friends, yard work, grilling and was an avid reader. He enjoyed watching his Red Sox and KU basketball, but never forget to cheer on the KSU Wildcats, because all his grandkids attended college there.&nbsp; His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved spending time with them.&nbsp;

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and Harold and Florence Eisenhauer.

Steve is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cheryl, his two children, Marci (Doug) Brenneman of Newton, Kansas and Marc (Kari) of Spring Hill, Kansas; five grandchildren, Katie (Jarrett) Whitson, Max Brenneman and Isabel (Hunter Willyard) Williams. Steve is also survived by his brother, Duane, of Wellington, Kansas.

Steve was born on January 4, 1941 in Wellington, Kansas to Leonard and Opal Williams.Steve grew up in Wellington, Kansas where he graduated from Wellington High School in May 1960. &nbsp;He went on and attended Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia and graduated in 1964 with a BS in Education. While in college, Steve met his wife, Cheryl, through a blind date. They were married on June 28, 1964 in El Dorado, Kansas.Steve and Cheryl made their home in Salina, Kansas next door to Harold and Florence Eisenhauer. The Eisenhauers’ became like another set of parents to them. Marci was born in 1969 and in 1971, Marc joined the family. While living in Salina, Steve taught English at Salina High School while pursuing his Masters in School Administration from Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia. &nbsp;He graduated with a MS in School Administration in August of 1969. In 1971, Steve became Assistant Principal/Activities Director at Salina High School South.The family moved to Newton in 1976 when Steve became Principal at Newton High School. In 1980, he changed his career and worked at Hesston Corporation holding various positions. In 1990, Steve was called to return to education and became principal at Salina High School Central.&nbsp; He held that position for eleven years until he retired. In the summer of 2001, Steve and Cheryl moved back to Newton where they have made their home since. &nbsp;Steve held many retirement jobs, but he was most proud of his time serving as a consultant for the Kansas Health Foundation.Steve was also honored to be a member of the Army Reserves from 1967-1976. He chose the Reserves because they had an opening, and he was accepted. He was sent into active duty in 1968 for 5 months.Steve was a proud alumnus of Emporia State University, formerly known as the Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia. Steve gave many of his years to the University serving on the Alumni Board and the Emporia State Foundation Board of Trustees.&nbsp; Steve was honored to be Chair of the Foundation from 2015-2017.He enjoyed golfing, playing cards with friends, yard work, grilling and was an avid reader. He enjoyed watching his Red Sox and KU basketball, but never forget to cheer on the KSU Wildcats, because all his grandkids attended college there.&nbsp; His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved spending time with them.&nbsp;Steve was preceded in death by his parents and Harold and Florence Eisenhauer.Steve is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cheryl, his two children, Marci (Doug) Brenneman of Newton, Kansas and Marc (Kari) of Spring Hill, Kansas; five grandchildren, Katie (Jarrett) Whitson, Max Brenneman and Isabel (Hunter Willyard) Williams. Helen Louise Boody Sawyer died on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Botkin Care and Rehab in Wellington, Kansas.

Mrs.
 Sawyer was born January 31, 1933, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Wilmer 
Walborn Boody and Charlotte “Ruth” Hamilton Boody. As a youth, she spent 
her years in Kansas, Missouri, Utah, Pennsylvania and Colorado.  She 
was a graduate of Canon City High School, Canon City, Colorado. She also
 attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, and Manhattan Christian 
College in Manhattan, Kansas.

On May 29, 1952, Helen married the 
love of her life, Porter “Eugene” Sawyer in Enid, Oklahoma.  She was a 
stay-at-home mom while living in Colorado.   She sold Avon, babysat in 
the home, sang in various church choirs, taught Sunday School, and was a
 Den Mother for Cub Scouts.  Once the Sawyer family had relocated to 
South Haven, in 1975, from Colorado, Helen went to work at Wheatland 
Lodge Nursing Home as a Certified Nurse Assistant, a Certified Medical 
Aide, and Social Services Director.  She retired from South Haven Guest 
Home (formerly Wheatland Lodge) after 28 years of service. Helen loved 
to knit and crochet, and lovingly gave away what she had created.  Many 
babies wore the baby booties that she had completed.

Helen is 
survived by her youngest brother, Dale Boody; four children: Charles 
(Loveda) Sawyer of Miles City, Montana; Robert Sawyer of Hutchinson, 
Kansas; David (Yvonne) Sawyer of Hutchinson, Kansas; Linda (Rick) Evans 
of Yates Center, Kansas. 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren 
with one on the way. Also surviving is brother-in-law, Jack Garrison, 
and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her 
husband of 69 years, Porter Eugene Sawyer, her parents, and two 
brothers: Howard Boody and Elwin Boody.

A Celebration of Life will
 be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, in South Haven, KS at the Christian 
Church, with internment to follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery, South 
Haven, KS. Family asks that you wear purple, yellow or pink, as they 
are Helen’s favorite colors.

Betty L. Reinert, age 95, of Hester Care Center, passed peacefully March 31, 2023, at Hospice House.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was born March 23, 1928, in Redfield, Iowa, to Clair and Effie (Kisling) Miller.&nbsp;

Betty graduated from high school in Redfield, IA. She and her husband, Carroll, moved to&nbsp;Hutchinson from Wichita, Kansas in 1960. &nbsp;&nbsp;Betty was the most loving, generous, and gracious person! She was a selfless caregiver for her husband for many years while he was ill. Betty was&nbsp;a fantastic cook and baker, wonderful homemaker, and enjoyed playing bridge and bingo.&nbsp;Betty was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, UANDI Study Club, and the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary. In addition, she was a Sunday school teacher and Brownie leader.&nbsp;

On August 24, 1947, Betty married Carroll D. Reinert, in Redfield, Iowa. He passed away in&nbsp;November of 2014. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Betty is survived by: daughters, Patty Bass of Hutchinson; Ellen (Roger) Shook of Lakewood,&nbsp;CO: grandchildren, Courtney Shook and Travis Shook of Wheat Ridge, CO; Jeremy&nbsp;Bass of Hutchinson; and sisters, Joann Heldenbrand and Jeannette Clark of Iowa.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Dean Miller, Donald Miller, and&nbsp;Jerry Miller; and son-in-law, David Bass.&nbsp;

Shirley Ann Smith, age 74, passed on Saturday, April 1st&nbsp;2023 in Wichita, Kansas. She was born in Valley Center Kansas to Albert “Fuzzy” and Lucille (Carnahan) Fielding. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Valley Center, she attended Valley Center schools and was a member of the 1966 graduating class. 

After graduating from high school Shirley accepted a position at Koch Industrials within the clerical department where she would meet her future lifelong husband Charles Smith. They would be married 51 years this month. After graduating and creating a career Shirley enjoyed long summer drives in her 1966 mustang that she was able to buy off the show room floor. Later, in life Shirley would continue to work within the admin clerical fields in medical offices as Office Admin/Managers as well as spend several years prior working with special needs children as a para-professional for the Valley Center School District. Shirley loved flowers, home decor and all of God’s animal. She went on to spend many of her springtime hours in the garden up to her elbows in dirt planting new flowers and working hard to make sure her home had colorful curb appeal.&nbsp;

She is proceeded in death by her parents Albert and Lucille Fielding, brothers James” Jimmy” &nbsp;Fielding and Ron Fielding.

Shirley is survived by her husband Charles Smith, daughter Tammy Swanson, son Chris (Kalise) Smith, sisters Mary Lou Stevens and Janet Overman, granddaughter Hailey Smith, grandson Ethan Smith, granddaughter Breanna Thompson, other family and friends.

Visitation for Shirley will be held 5-7 p.m., Monday, April 10 and Service 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, both held at Grace Connections, 300 N. Ash, Valley Center, Kansas.&nbsp; Graveside will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Sedgwick, Kansas.

Millie Rose Hein, age 78, of Newton, Kansas, went home to the Lord on April 2, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 26, 1944, in Lawrence, Kansas, she was the daughter of Lewis and Dorothy Higgins, and sister to Sonny Higgins, all of whom preceded her in death.

Millie was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family, making memories that will be treasured forever. She had three children, Michael, Robin, and Patricia, with her former husband Gerald (Jerry) Collins. In 1975, she found the love of her life and soulmate, Manfred Hein, whom she was married to for 46 wonderful years.

Throughout her life, Millie worked in many different jobs, but her favorite was serving as a telemetry technician at Newton Medical Center, where she worked for 25 years until retirement in 2020. Her true passion in life, however, was serving Christ and being an active member of First Church of God in Newton. She led youth groups, the pioneer club, crafts and the prayer chain, and was known for her unwavering faith and devotion.

Millie will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and positive spirit. She had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Manfred Hein; her children, Michael (Ian) Collins, Robin (Russell) Stewart, and Patricia Laird; her grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Antonaccio, Zoe (Matt) Wennberg, Zachary (Sarahfae) Collins, Linsey (Jonathan) Foth, Hunter Collins, Levi Laird, Brandon Birzer, Demi Collins, and Tiffany (Shawn) Walker; and great-grandchildren, Ruxson, Harper, Makenzie, Zendaya, Karter, Danielle, Lila, Landry, Ruby, Elijah, and Karma. She is also survived by her sister, Linda (Larry) Weliver; other to mention, Jody (Mike) Sutherland, Tammie (Paul) Laird Pendleton, and numerous other family members and dear friends.

Suzanne "Suzy" F. Wilcox, 65, of Paola, KS, passed away April 2, 2023,&nbsp; at the University of Kansas Hospital after a several year battle with 
ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Suzy was born on November 
8, 1957, to George Frolik and Eileen (Churchill) Frolik Spears. Suzy 
attended and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1976. She attended
 Washburn University for one year, and then transferred and graduated 
from Kansas State University in 1979 with her bachelor’s degree in Early
 Childhood Education. She then furthered her education and earned a 
master's degree in Special Education from the University of Kansas.

She
 married Arlen Wilcox of Paola on July 28, 1979. They made their home in
 Paola. They had three children Clint, Emily, and Mallory.

After
 graduation, she began her teaching career in Paola at Lakemary Center, 
then taught in the Olathe School District for many years, and ended her 
career teaching in Paola School District 368, before retiring in 2018. 
She was awarded the Paola School District Elementary Teacher of the Year
 in 2016. Her students knew her as Miss Suzy. Teaching was her passion 
and she had a tremendous impact on many students’ lives. She was loved 
by many of her former students and their families. She served children 
in many capacities whether it was teaching at school, teaching Sunday 
School and Vacation Bible School, serving on the Autism Support team for
 the local special education cooperative and supporting other teachers; 
she truly loved what she did. 

Suzy had many interests.
 Her Irish ancestry was important to her, as was her passions of 
gardening, antiquing, traveling, her K-State Wildcats, and spending time
 with her grandchildren and grand dogs. She was a member of the First 
Presbyterian Church of Osawatomie and served on many committees and 
volunteered whenever she could.

Suzy was preceded in death by her parents. 

She
 is survived by her husband Arlen; son Clint (Shannon) Wilcox of Forney,
 Texas; daughters Emily (Jeff) Reece of Hutchinson, Kansas and Mallory 
(Brad) Green of Paola, Kansas;  grandchildren Parker Wilcox and Madelyn,
 Olivia, and Collin Green; her brother Richard Frolik of Overland Park, 
Kansas; sister-in-law Bonnie (Allen) McKoon; and a niece and nephew.

Ralph Charles Pfenninger, 90, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on April 1, 2023. &nbsp;Ralph was born on November 10, 1932 to Alice Dicus and Ralph E. Pfenninger in Scott City, KS, spending his early years growing up on the farm. 
Ralph married the love of his life, Billee Jeanne Maxwell in 1949. The two spent the first five years of their marriage farming before moving to Hutchinson, KS to pursue what would be the start of a successful career in business. In that time the two had three children, Steve, Lewis, and Susan. Ralph and Billee Jeanne would go on to be married for 73 years, serving as a guidepost of love, trust, and stability for all who were lucky enough to witness their immense love for one another. 
Ralph and Billee Jeanne moved to Oklahoma City, OK in 1977 where he owned R&amp;L Texaco for nearly 30 years prior to retiring at age 62. Ralph spent his retired years volunteering for Provide-A-Ride for 17 years, logging nearly 5,000 hours taking people to doctor’s appointments and doing something he did best in all aspects of his life, providing thoughtful conversation and making people smile with his one-of-a-kind sense of humor. 
Ralph could often be found with a fishing pole in hand, hunting with family in Kansas, reading a book in his recliner or woodworking. A devoted husband and father, Ralph truly shined as the quintessential grandpa. He clocked countless hours supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren at the ballfield, grandparents’ days at school, plays, giving wise words of wisdom like “bored people are boring people," and handing out the crispest dollar bills after a job well-done. 
Ralph was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Dicus, father, Ralph E. Pfenninger, stepmother, Mary Pfenninger, brother Walter Pfenninger, and sister Rose Marie Torson. 
He is survived by his loving wife, Billee Jeanne, sister Margaret Cook, son Steve Pfenninger, his wife Mary, son Lewis Pfenninger, and daughter Susan LeBegue. 
Ralph’s legacy is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, Heather Rimmer (Reese &amp; Hudson), Sarah Halley and husband Josh (Nathan &amp; Kaitlyn), Stephanie Noel (Alyssa Bartlett and husband Blake, Jacob &amp; Kathryn), Jennifer LeBegue, Brian Pfenninger and wife Kristin (Story &amp; Thea), Michelle LeBegue, and Christina McCluskey and husband Joe (Carolyn &amp; Owen). 
Viewing will be held at Vondel L. Smith &amp; Son Mortuary, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd., OKC 73142 on Wednesday, April 5th, from 4-8 PM. 
Services will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 7801 NW Expressway, OKC 73132 on Thursday, April 6th, at 11 AM.
