Eugene Kay (Gene) Housholder, 81, of McPherson, KS, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at his home.

Gene was born in rural Scandia, Kansas on January 12, 1942, the son of the late Paul Erwin and Helen Virgie (Johnson) Housholder.

Gene attended Union Valley District 39 country school and graduated from Belleville High School, Belleville, Kansas in 1959.

Through the years Gene worked for Riners RV, Rusty Eck RV, Augusta RV and Adventure RV, all of the Wichita area.&nbsp; Gene was the owner and operator of G.H. Electric of McPherson, Bypass Repair Shop, and did installation of siding.

During his high school years, Gene belonged to F.F.A.. Later in life, he was a member of, and a board member of the S.O.S.. He was also a member of the South Main A.A. group and Firehouse A.A.

Gene K. Housholder was united in marriage to Dru K. (Brantley) Romme on September 8, 1975 in Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; This union was blessed with a son, Dan and Dru's son and daughter, Michael and Dawn.

He is survived by his wife, Dru Housholder of McPherson, Kansas; sons, Ron Murdock of Houston, Texas, Darold (Christina) Housholder, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dan (Tonya) Housholder of Salina, Kansas, Mike (Danielle) Romme of Kingman, Kansas; daughter, Dawn Spainhour of McPherson, Kansas; sister, Linda Jamison, of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Elizabeth Spainhour, Caden Spainhour, Seth Spainhour, Sheridan Spainhour, Nicole Romme, Donald Romme, Cordell Housholder, Sydney Housholder, Brittnany Elliott, Billie Jean Coyle, Brantley Housholder and Audrina Lewis; great grandchildren, Jayce Gunn, Dylan Gunn and Grayce Gunn; and special friends, Peaches, Michael and Dawn Lewis; other relatives, many nieces and nephews and host of friends. &nbsp;

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Carol Jean Housholder; a brother, Donald Housholder; and a sister, Marge Klabzuba.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Glidden - Ediger-Wiggins Chapel in McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.

Bettye Joyce Stauts, 84, of Hutchinson, died November 14, 2023 at Hospice House. She was born October 3, 1939, in Marshall, TX, to Charleston Hargrove and Tennie Lee (Waldrop) Stauts.

Bettye graduated from Longview High School in 1957. She married James McMahan in 1958, and they raised their four children in Great Bend, Kansas. She was very involved in her children’s activities and various community events. She volunteered as a Cub Scout Leader, Camp Fire Girl Leader, Sunday School teacher, and PTA President for many years. She enjoyed cheering (loudly) at ball games and attending special school and church events. When the children were older, she worked for over 10 years as the office manager for a local orthodontist. &nbsp;

Bettye married James Phelps in 1980 and moved “back home” to Texas in 1981. &nbsp;While living in Texas, Bettye loved spending time with her friends, children, and grandchildren. She continued to work as a dental office manager until she finally retired at age 70. &nbsp;In 2012, she moved in with her eldest daughter and son-in-law in Hutchinson, where she immediately made new friends and discovered new activities. Bettye was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering at the Hutchinson Public Library, attending 2 Bible study groups, and a monthly Book Club. &nbsp;She rarely missed “coffee” with her friends twice a week. She was always busy - except on Thursdays, which was her “Do -Nothin’ Day.” Bettye had a strong Christian faith and was a life-long Baptist. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

Bettye is survived by: children, Belinda Gayle (Gary) Bagby of Hutchinson, KS, James Bryan (Mary) McMahan of Sturgis, SD, Debra Lynn (Earl) VanRanken of Medicine Lodge, KS, Jerry Duane McMahan of Gilbert, TX; brother, Robert “Bobby” Lee (Mildred) Stauts of Ocean Springs, MS; grandchildren, Jason (Tara) McMahan of Royse City, TX, Aubrey (Chris) Broach of Farmersville, TX, Michael (Jessie) Ashley of San Diego, CA, Ryan Keast of Winnemucca, NV, Katlyn West of Attica, KS, Kilie West of Wilmington, NC, Brianna Bagby of Topeka, KS; great-grandchildren, Keagen Broach, Levi Broach, Spencer McMahan, Tyler McMahan, Brooke McMahan, Holden Ashley, baby girl Ashley (due in February 2024), Elliot Solis, and Isabellah Solis. Bettye also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and her best friend for over 50 years, Sherry Kerns, Wichita, KS.

Burial will follow at a later date in Texas. Friends may sign her book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until the day of service at Elliott Mortuary.

Lila Harris, 96, of Goessel, Kansas passed away November 16, 2023 at Schowalter Villa. She was born January 16, 1927, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Voth.

She graduated from Goessel High School and received a Nursing Degree from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Hutchinson, KS. Lila was a registered nurse at Kidron Bethel Nursing home, retiring in 1987.

Lila was united in marriage to Ernest Harris on September 13, 1948. He passed away June 20, 2001.

She was a member of Tabor Mennonite Church.

Lila is survived by three daughters, Andrea Baker of McPherson; Dallas Irene Schmidt and her husband Kenneth of Hutchinson; and Susan Elizabeth Harris of Council Grove; son, Olin Harris of Goessel; brother, Ernie Voth and his wife Rose of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son, Dr. James Harris, M.D.; two sisters, Marna Abrahams, and Norma Martinez; and a brother, Alfred Voth.

Lila Harris |1927-2023|

Gail Marie Stucky, 64, died surrounded by her family on Nov. 15, 2023, at Paramount Community Living in Newton, Kan. Gail was born on Mar. 9, 1959, in Newton, to Clarence and Gladys (Schmidt) Niles.

Gail grew up in Newton and attended Sunset Grade School. She graduated from Newton High School in 1977 and from Bethel College in 1981. She was a gifted student and won many honors in debate and forensics competitions. She completed her master’s degrees in librarianship and information management and arts and sciences at the University of Denver in 1983 and 1984, respectively.

She married Mark Stucky on July 24, 1982. They were married for 41 years and enjoyed many trips to national parks together with their children.

Gail began her career as a reference librarian at Wichita State University in 1984. She served as co-director of libraries at Bethel College from 1986 until her semi-retirement in 2019. She was an assistant coach of forensics at Bethel College and directed the program for one year. After her semi-retirement, Gail continued to support Bethel College forensics and other academic activities. She was also a long-time supporter of Moundridge High School’s debate and forensics team, coached by her husband Mark until his retirement.

Gail assisted with many wheat harvests on the family farm. She especially enjoyed caring for the farm’s pets - including beloved corgis, cats, and horses - and she and Mark even showed horses for a brief period early in their marriage.

Gail was a talented musician. She was a member of touring bell choirs in junior and senior high school and an accomplished pianist. She was especially gifted at the autoharp, which she played in Eden Mennonite Church’s worship band and a family band with her husband, performing at church services, weddings, funerals, and community fundraisers.

Gail was a voracious reader and a lifelong learner. She enjoyed traveling, particularly hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colo., and touring England on a family trip. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, Owen and Kira.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; son, Matt (Blaire Mayhue); daughter, Marike (Alex Igram); and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Gladys Niles, and her sister, Jan.

A celebration of life is scheduled for both Gail and her mother, Gladys Niles, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, at Shalom Mennonite Church in Newton. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Gail’s and Gladys’ memories are encouraged to make a gift to support Bethel College, Bethel College Mennonite Church, or Shalom Mennonite Church.

Willis Edwin Harder, 85, of rural Newton, Kansas died on November 15, 2023 at NMC Health

He was born on July 25, 1938 in Newton, Kansas, the oldest child of Edwin and Edna (Janzen) Harder.&nbsp; Willis attended a one room country schoolhouse and graduated from Newton High School in 1956.&nbsp; Willis spent the majority of his life on the family farm, but did spend two years working in Topeka, Kansas at a neurological hospital as a medical aide as well.&nbsp; After that time he was a welder and factory worker in addition to farming.

Willis was a life-time member of First Mennonite Church in Newton, Kansas where he served as an usher.

On June 12, 1971 he married Anna Marie (Regier) Harder of First Mennonite Church in Halstead, Kansas.&nbsp; They were married 52 years.

Willis is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Harder; children, Jonn (Lisa) Harder and Carol (Tracy) Budde; grandchildren, Jacob Harder, Samuel Harder, Brylee Budde, and Brynn Budde; great grandchild Hadlee; sister Janice (Don) Regier; brother Richard Harder; and numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Marlin Leroy.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, November 20,&nbsp;2023, at First Mennonite Church in Newton, Kansas, with Pastor Luke Unruh officiating. Kerry Kelsey, 57, passed away November 13, 2023 in Marion. 

 He was born November 29, 1965 in Marion to Gerald and Sharon (Youk) Kelsey.  He married Lori Vantuyl August 23, 1986 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. 

 Survivors include: wife, Lori Kelsey of Marion; sons, Jerry (Courteney) Kelsey of Hutchinson, Andy (Kathleen) Kelsey of Marion; daughter, Samantha Kelsey of Wichita; brother, Mike (Jennifer) Kelsey of Newton; sister, Kris Hardisty of Salina; mother, Sharon Kelsey of Marion; 4 grandchildren.  

Predeceased by his father Gerald Kelsey in 2012.

Lucretia Helene Nichols, 93 died November 14, 2023 at her home in Hutchinson, KS, surrounded by family and friends. She was born March 14, 1930 in Pawhuska, OK to Robert and Annie Alexander Boylan.

Lucretia graduated from Bookerteen High School in Pawhuska, OK. She attended Hutchinson Community College. She made Hutchinson, Kansas her home in 1952. She retired from the Law Enforcement Center in Environmental Services Department.

Lucretia was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she held the position of President of the Church Usher Board. She was a Lifetime member of the Hutchinson NAACP.

After retirement Lucretia enjoyed being a Community Historian and Arborist. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, walking, and attending the NJCAA men’s basketball tournament games.

Lucretia married Robert Eugene Nichols on May 17, 1959. Survivors include three sons, Bruce Sherod Nichols and Roger Ray Coffee, both of Hutchinson, KS, and Shawn Ray Coffee (grandson/son), Chicago, IL; brother Wayne Boylan, Los Angeles, CA; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Eugene Nichols in 1965; daughter, Laura Jean Ragsdale; son, Edward “Eddie” Tipton; two brothers, Napoleon Boylan and David Ough and three sisters, Augustus Ellison, Gwendolyn Carter, and Anna DeBaun.

Edwin Chester “Ed” Bartlett, 66, of Haven, died November 13, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born June 11, 1957, in Hutchinson, to Wesley and Edith (Heaney) Bartlett.

Ed was a 1975 graduate of Hutchinson High School. He was a department manager at Center Industries in Wichita. Ed was also the fire chief in Holcomb, Kanas for 10 years. He enjoyed auto racing and this was his main hobby. Ed also loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events.

On January 23, 1982, he married Shonna Martene Korte in Garden City. They shared 41 years of marriage together.

Ed is survived by: wife, Shonna Bartlett, Haven; daughters, Jenesis Bennett (Jon), Haven, Kristina Rohmeyer, Haven; honorary daughters, Sarah Coonce, Hutchinson, Amanda Girtman, Wichita; son-in-law, Adam Rohmeyer, Clearwater; grandchildren, Zoey, Eden, and Piper Bennett, Edith Rohmeyer, Morrigan and Alannah Burris; brothers, Wes Bartlett (Gwen), Les Bartlett (Judy), Topeka; many nieces and nephews; and his CIC Family.

Ferdinand “Fred” Werth, Jr., 85, died November 13, 2023, at The Arbors, Hutchinson. He was born October 3, 1938, in La Crosse, to Ferdinand and Lidwina Lydia (Hepp) Werth, Sr.

Fred graduated from Great Bend High School in 1958 and served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. During his service in the Navy, Fred designed and built bombing range targets. &nbsp;He retired as a welder with Krause Plow in South Hutchinson. Fred enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, his Harley Davidson, and working on his Chevy truck. He was a devout Catholic, attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Fred also participated yearly in the Hutchinson Christmas Parade Toys for Tots Motorcycle Drive.&nbsp;

Fred married Virginia “Ginger” Stutzman in November 2003. &nbsp;She passed away April 28, 2020.

Fred is survived by: his brother, Vernon (Diana) Werth of Colorado; his children, Katherine (Eugene) Wilbourn of Oklahoma and Michael J (Misty) Werth of Kansas; stepsons John (Amanda) and Chris (Gayle) Stutzman of Kansas; grandchildren, Tiffani (Robert) Glen, Kayla (Aaron) Butler, Megan (Lloyd) Welch, all of Oklahoma, Jesseca (John) Brady of Virginia, Ashley (John) Rios of Texas, Sydney Werth of Arizona, and Jordan Werth of Kansas; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Miriam was a graduate of Kingman High School, Kingman, KS, and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was a bookkeeper at Kingsley-Wagner Motor Supply Company, Hutchinson, KS, retiring with 25 years of service. &nbsp;Miriam was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, South Hutchinson, KS.

On October 18, 1947, she married Nathan William Bailey in Kingman, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 58 years of marriage, prior to his death on February 3, 2006.

John was a graduate of Hutchinson Community College, formerly Hutchinson Community Junior College, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;He served in the United States Merchant Marines, as well as the United States Army and the United States Air Force. &nbsp;John was proud of his military service. &nbsp;He was a lifelong Mason with the Masonic-32nd Degree. &nbsp;John enjoyed golfing at the Newton Country Club. &nbsp;He retired as a Sales Manager for Excel Industries in Hesston, KS.

On March 2, 1945, he married Betty J. Price, in Los Angeles, CA. &nbsp;They shared over 69 years of marriage, prior to her death on November 27, 2014.

John is survived by: &nbsp;his nephew, Jim (Jan) Lee; nieces, Katie Flora, Nancy (Dale) Goss, and Stephanie (Darren) Temple; two great-nieces; sister-in-law, Jerry Harrison; two great-nephews; and seven great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Phyllis A. Becker, 91, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

Phyllis was born on June 28, 1932, in Centralia, KS, the daughter of Gordon and Berniece Aileen (Conley) Shup.&nbsp; She graduated in 1950 from high school in Russell, KS.&nbsp; She then attended Fort Hays State University.&nbsp;

In 1951, Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert E. Eichman in Russell, KS.&nbsp; On November 10, 1972, Phyllis married Marion Ray Becker in McPherson.&nbsp; They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Phyllis worked as an insurance clerk at Memorial Hospital for 21 years and then was a payroll clerk for The Cedars.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, former President of UMW, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Survivors include: her loving husband, Marion of the home; children, Monica Koehn (Ernie) of McPherson, KS, Jeff Eichman (Shari) of McPherson, KS, and Vicki Lingafelter (Bryan) of Coweta, OK; siblings, Karan Lunsford of McPherson, KS and Vicki Round (Jerry) of Galva, KS; eight grandchildren, Jon Vance (Gayla), Danica Fitzmorris (Doug), Bobby Vance (Amanda), Aaron Koehn (Amber), Sara Wilson (Jeff), Abby Hagemann (Jared), Bryanna Beavers (John), and Christopher Lingafelter (Natalie); 22 great-grandchildren; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Maureen Brown.

Darryl Dean Tackett, 85, died November 13, 2023, at Paramount Health and Rehab in Newton, Kansas.

He was born on May 5, 1938, in McCamey, Texas, the son of Elby and Alta (Hoover) Tackett.

On November 28, 1963, he was united in marriage to Jereline Summers in Elko, Nevada. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2021.&nbsp;

He was retired from Excel Industries in Hesston where he worked as a test associate.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Darryl and Jereline were sealed in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple.

Darryl was a member of the Newton Lodge #142 AF&amp;AM; He was also a member of the Shrine, Scottish Rite and Knights of St. Andrew.

Darryl and Jereline traveled most all the Western United States in their camper and especially enjoyed Yellowstone National Park and seeing the giant redwoods in California. The couple belonged to a camping club that regularly met at the Marion Reservoir. Family was important to Darryl, and he looked forward to spending time with his family.

Darryl is survived by his son Jeffrey Tackett; daughter Susan (Nick) Gehrer; granddaughter Mallory Gehrer and grandson Brody Gehrer. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Wallace Tackett and Sister LaWanda Tackett

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Newton Ward with Bishop Brian Kynaston presiding. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home.

Leslie Lee Sanborn Sr., 80, died November 12, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 9, 1943, in Salina, to William R. and Mildred I. (Parmly) Sanborn.

Les graduated from Salina High School in 1961 and Fort Hays State University in 1970, with a degree in accounting, passing the CPA exam in 1975. He worked at and co-owned several accounting firms in Kansas, lastly being a family firm, Sanborn &amp; Daughters Ltd, with his daughters in Hutchinson. Les continued to work in the field of accounting until his 80th birthday this year. He was a car aficionado and owned many cars over his lifetime, drag raced when he was younger, and also owned a Chevrolet dealership, Sanborn Brothers Chevrolet, in the 1970s, with his younger brother in St. John, Kansas. Les was also an avid golfer both at the Highlands and later Carey Park. He loved woodworking, making furniture, carvings of all kinds, and also completely remodeled several buildings in Hutchinson, including his home/office at 1006 N. Main and office at 525 N. Main. &nbsp;

On December 27, 1966, Les married Barbara Jean Waldschmidt in Hays. They shared nearly 57 years of marriage before his passing. She survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Stacey Bryant (Adam) of Colwich, Stefanie Sanborn-Miller (Mike) of Hutchinson, Leslie L. Sanborn II of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Abigail Bryant, Mason Bryant (Kelsey), Braden Miller; sister, Linda Ford (Cole) of Ipswich, England; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers David Sanborn, William “Billy” Sanborn; and sisters, Joyce Ditto and Carol “Sue” Sanborn.

David Hollingsworth born September 16th, 1960, to Donald and Myrth (Theede) Hollingsworth, passed away on Tuesday, November 7th, surrounded by his family.

David graduated in the class of 1979 from Nickerson High School.&nbsp; David moved to Ponca City Oklahoma in the fall of 1979, where he met his best friend and future wife of 40 years, Betty. They were married on April 30th, 1984 in Ark City, Kansas, later to move back to Hutchinson with his new bride.

David was a successful Drywall Tradesman for over 35 years and owned his own business. David&nbsp;was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed weekend floats with friends and family on many of the waterways through Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. The love of the outdoors came from his many years of being involved in Scouting with which he was very passionate about, being an Eagle Scout a Scout Master. Above all things his family was the most important.

David is survived by Wife Betty, Sons Justin, Kyle (Rayna) Hollingsworth, grandchildren, Dyllan,Tyler, Jamen, and Mason, brothers, Marshall (Annette) and Doug Hollingsworth, sister, Marilyn (Sam) Davis, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

David was preceded in death by both his parents, his sister Monica Hendershot, and his daughter-in-law, Joni (Montano) Hollingsworth.

Ila Maurine Ventsam, 98, of Haven, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born May 4, 1925 in Wellington, Kansas, the daughter of Walter L. and Anna M. (Crewse) Burden.

She graduated from Belle Plaine High School with the class of 1943.

Ila retired from the Haven Post Office as postmaster in 1989.

She married Marvin “Barney” Ventsam from Haven, Kansas. They were married for 24 years and later divorced.

Ila was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haven, where she served on the altar guild, funeral committee, and was secretary to the LWML Bowling League. She also volunteered at the Haven Food Bank and was a Girl Scout Leader.

She is survived by her four children, Eddie Ventsam of Costa Rica, Jeanette (Ed) Ladd of Hutchinson, Diane (Mike) Krone of Kanopolis Lake, and Dena (Jim) Kirkman of Mt. Hope; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Gloria Jean; two brothers, Mervin and Marion; and five sisters, Vera, Viola, Cleora, Melba, and Beulah.

Burrel graduated from Upland High School, Upland, CA, in 1959. He served in the United States Navy from February 1, 1961, until January 6, 1965. In 1976, Burrel moved his family to Stafford, KS, where he was the owner/operator of Stafford Plumbing for over 30 years. He was a member of the Stafford Church of the Nazarene, coached Stafford Youth Baseball, hosted numerous church youth gatherings, and taught his family to know the Lord Jesus through his love, actions, and teaching of the Word of God.

Burrel was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Lonnie Tennison; and sister, Vicky Van Alstine.

He is survived by: his son, Scott Tennison and wife, Chris of Roseburg, OR; daughter, Katherine “Kelly” Love and husband, Dale of Partridge, KS; daughter, Susan “Susie” Petellin and husband, Kurt of Coeur d’Alene, ID; sister, Margaret Barber of Tucson, AZ; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He was born July 18, 1946, at Chanute, Kansas the son of Charles L. and H. Lucille Pittser Drake.

A longtime resident of Murdock, he was a former employee of Kraus Implement, the Don Dye Co., Chance Industries and the Goddard school district.

On April 8, 1967, he married Marilyn Taber in Hutchinson; she died Oct.23, 2016.&nbsp;&nbsp;Survivors include a daughter Joyce Hall; adopted son Charles Frank Oakman; brother Larry; sisters Donna Agoitia and her husband Gary, Pat Bailey and Maggie Groves; and granddaughter Sam Hall.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was also preceded in death by a son LaVerne Drake.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17, 2023 at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.&nbsp;&nbsp;Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont.

Sandra Kay “Sandi” Bredvick went home to her heavenly Father, family, and friends, which she was looking forward to, on November 11, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;

Sandra was born March 3, 1951, in Shawnee, OK to N.A. Stevens and Katherine (Lumley) Stevens. &nbsp;She spent her early years in education in the Oklahoma school system. &nbsp;

Sandra married John O. Bredvick in 1990, and they shared many memories, vacations, and traveling together. For the past 25 years, she was a key figure and co-owner of her family business, Mid-Plains Waterproofing, in Hutchinson.

Sandra’s previous marriage resulted in her children: &nbsp;Todd and Michelle Kimmell of Stillwater, OK, Toni and Mike Mantze of Hugoton, and Will Thomas, Tahlequah, OK. &nbsp;After marrying John, she gained three children in Nebraska, and Sandra treated them as one large family; Thomas and Janie Bredvick, McCook, NE, Tim and Barb Bredvick-Kimberling, Columbus, NE, and Jon Jo and Ashley Bredvick, Omaha, NE; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Deanna Bredvick Sekyra, Columbus, NE.&nbsp;

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael Stevens.

Per Sandi’s request, cremation has taken place. &nbsp;A memorial service will be announced at a later date. &nbsp;

 </figure>Sandra Kay “Sandi” Bredvick went home to her heavenly Father, family, and friends, which she was looking forward to, on November 11, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Sandra was born March 3, 1951, in Shawnee, OK to N.A. Stevens and Katherine (Lumley) Stevens. &nbsp;She spent her early years in education in the Oklahoma school system. &nbsp;Sandra married John O. Bredvick in 1990, and they shared many memories, vacations, and traveling together. For the past 25 years, she was a key figure and co-owner of her family business, Mid-Plains Waterproofing, in Hutchinson.Sandra’s previous marriage resulted in her children: &nbsp;Todd and Michelle Kimmell of Stillwater, OK, Toni and Mike Mantze of Hugoton, and Will Thomas, Tahlequah, OK. &nbsp;After marrying John, she gained three children in Nebraska, and Sandra treated them as one large family; Thomas and Janie Bredvick, McCook, NE, Tim and Barb Bredvick-Kimberling, Columbus, NE, and Jon Jo and Ashley Bredvick, Omaha, NE; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Deanna Bredvick Sekyra, Columbus, NE.&nbsp;Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Michael Stevens.Per Sandi’s request, cremation has taken place. &nbsp;A memorial service will be announced at a later date. &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS &nbsp;67501.&nbsp;

Judith Ann (Vickrey) White was born January 22, 1945 in Emporia, Kansas, to Abner H. Vickrey and Margaret Mae (Burris) Vickrey and passed away November 11, 2023. Their family moved to Canton, Kansas, when Judy was 3 years old. She met James White, her future husband, when he was in the eighth grade and she was in seventh. 

The high school sweethearts married on August 9, 1964, and started their married life in Fort Hood, Texas, where James was stationed in the Army. Once he was discharged, they moved back to Canton to the farmstead they still call home. 

Judy was a city kid so farming and raising cattle were all new to her, but with the help of James and her father-in-law, George, she learned to drive the tractor and wheat trucks with the best of them. No cowboy could outwork her, and her favorite time was watching young calves run around the pasture with their tails in the air. 

For many years, she made custom decorated cakes for weddings, birthdays, graduations, and more. This filled her spare time when she wasn't farming, sitting on the back of the flatbed shaking cubes out to the cattle or trying to keep her kids in line. 

Judy was preceded in death by their stillborn son, Jay, and her brother, Abner A. Vickrey. 

Judy is survived by James; son Justin and his wife, Adrianna, of Canton; daughter Jennifer and her husband, Ty Theurer, of Coldwater; as well as granddaughters Haylee (RodRick) Seeber and Emily White; grandsons Grant and Grady Theurer; and great-grandsons Augustus Seeber and baby boy Seeber due in March. Her brother Larry Vickrey of McPherson also survives. 

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., November 20, 2023, at the Canton Township Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Pine Village of Moundridge, in care of Olson's Mortuary, Canton.
