
John ‘Silver’ Clyde Bowman, Jr., 75, died January 6, 2024, at his home. He was born July 8, 1948, in Great Bend, KS, to J. Clyde Bowman and Pauline (Breitenbach) Bowman.
Silver was a 1966 graduate of Macksville High School, Macksville, KS. He settled in Hutchinson, KS, where he began working for Kirby Oil and then worked for 22 years at Dillons as a truck driver. Silver retired as a fuel truck driver from Nickerson Coop. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. Many trips were made with his son and nephews to hunt pheasant and deer over the years and teaching all his grandchildren to fish. His greatest joy was the time spent with his children, grandchildren and nephews.
Silver is survived by: his children, Heather (Preston) Jennings of Novi, MI, Devin (Cheryl) Bowman of Liberty, MO, and Jennifer (Marty) Denison of Minneola, KS; grandchildren, Lily Jennings, Kate Jennings, Devin Bowman, Caiden Bowman, Maison Bowman, Jordyn Bowman, Madi Denison, Coy Denison, and Case Denison; sisters, Martha Bowman of Edmond, OK, Judy Bowman of Edmond, OK, and Mary Ann (Melvin) Schinstock of Kinsley, KS; nephews, Michael (Kimberly) Bowman, Matt Schinstock, and Mitch (Jordan) Schinstock; and great-nephews, Aaron Schinstock, Spencer Bowman, Hutson Schinstock, and Bowman Schinstock.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with the burial to follow in the Belpre Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary.
