Nancy Elizabeth Sawaya, 57, passed away June 6, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born June 17, 1963, in Phoenix, AZ.&nbsp; Her parents were Clifford and Darlene (Buggeln) Leitzel.

Nancy was a 1981 graduate of Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; She was employed by Dillons for 25 years.

On March 27, 1981, Nancy married Chris Sawaya, at his cousin’s home, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared over 40 years of marriage.

She is survived by:&nbsp; husband, Chris Sawaya of Hutchinson; daughters, Larissa (Ben Eisiminger) Sawaya of Lawrence, and Elizabeth Sawaya of Topeka; granddaughters, Olive and Mary Eisiminger; sister, Terri (John) Leroy; brothers, Robert Snider, John Snider, and Charles Boyer; and mother-in-law, Patricia Sawaya.

Nancy was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; brother, Curtis Farmer; and father-in-law, Norman Sawaya.

Mary Dona Teaney, 93, of Halstead, died June 6, 2021, at Halstead Health and Rehab. She was born December 25, 1927, in Turon, to Harry and Mina (Davis) Dimitt.

Dona graduated from Turon High School in 1946. She was a homemaker. Dona loved the Arlington Senior Center and was very involved there. She was an avid bowler and even traveled to different states for bowling leagues. Dona also loved butterflies and collected anything and everything that had a butterfly on it. She was a member for many years at Arlington United Methodist Church and participated in the women’s group there.

In 1947, Dona married Richard Kuhns in Arlington. He passed away in 1964. On February 26, 1966, she married William Teaney in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He passed away on May 20, 1989.

Dona is survived by: son, Darrel Kuhns (Patricia), Red Rock, Texas; daughters, Mary Hall (Terry Morris), Newton, Dawn Hill, Red Rock, Texas, Debra Chappel, Haviland; bonus children, Sue (Tom), Mary (Mike), both of Hutchinson, and Bonnie of Stillwell, Oklahoma; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.

Linda enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She spent most of her working years somewhere in a kitchen.&nbsp; Linda loved to cook and she was exceptional at it. “Cookie” will be missed by many!

Joan Rose (Stucky) Ensz, beloved wife, mother grand and great grandmother went to Heaven on June 5, 2021 from her residence at Kidron Bethel Village in North Newton, Kansas. She was born on the 17th November, 1931, the youngest of 10 children to Edward T. Stucky and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Libich) Stucky in Moundridge, Kansas.

Joan, during her childhood and adolescence went to school in Moundridge.  She would often help her mother clean houses around town and West Zion Mennonite Church, while her father worked at the grain elevator in Moundridge.    As a young adult she moved to Newton, Kansas where she worked as a secretary for the Haury Accounting firm.  Soon after she met Harry Ensz of rural Beatrice, Nebraska.  Joan and Harry married in 1951 and settled in Newton where she became a homemaker raised three sons and a daughter.  She would often babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and worked on various committees and taught children’s Sunday School at First Mennonite Church in Newton.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings, Josephine, Jess, Joy, Juanita, Jean, James, Jon, Junior, and Jane.  She is survived by her husband Harry Ensz, North Newton, Ks of nearly 70 years, her three sons and daughter, Steven and Marcia (White) Ensz, The Woodlands TX, Bryan and Nancy (Stucky) Ensz, Lawrence, KS, Kevin and Kerry (Billman) Ensz, Wichita, KS and Lori (Ensz) and Eric Shelly, North Newton, KS. Mueller of Tampa; daughter, Jody (Ron) Heath of Salina; sisters, Ophelia Jacobson of Wichita, Edna (Paul) Backhus of Tampa; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Phyllis Ann (Rhode) Mueller peacefully passed away with her immediate family present at her bedside in her home in Tampa, Kansas on June 6th, 2021, at the age of 88.

Phyllis was born to William John Rhode and Lydia Elizabeth (Galliart) Rhode on the family farm in Tampa, Kansas January 28th, 1933. She was the middle child of the three famous "Rhode girls". Ophelia Jacobson and Edna Backhus were her sisters. They all worked on the family farm southeast of Tampa with their parents. Phyllis was known to be on the tractor at an early age helping her father.

Phyllis graduated from Tampa High School in 1949 at the age of 16. She went to school a year early to be with her older sister Ophelia.

Phyllis married Lloyd George "Butch" Mueller January 28, 1933. They were blessed with 2 children, Rodney Lloyd Mueller ( the ornery one) and Jody Jolene (Mueller) Heath (the spoiled one). They lived on a farm for the first few years of their marriage and moved to Tampa city limits where together they built a 4 room house into the present home today.

Phyllis worked at the Tampa State Bank as cashier for 56 years from 1954 to 2010. She also owned and operated Butch's Diner with her husband for many years. She would work in the cafe in the early morning and head to her banking job at 9. She would come back and work the lunch hour with her husband and sister-in-law Agnes Steinert and return to the bank at 1. They had supper run after her work was done at the bank and she would go home at night around 9. Phyllis could not sit still and was always working on something. Her work ethic was phenomenal. They were known best for Sunday pan fried chicken dinners. The area around Tampa for many miles would come to eat Sunday dinner. She loved to cook and loved her time in the restaurant even though she frequently would say " we are just killing ourselves with this hard work".

She was a charter member of the Tampa Ambulance crew from 1978 to 1993 with her husband Butch. Phyllis always wanted to be a nurse and was able to somewhat fulfill this dream with the ambulance work. She did manage to convince her daughter to follow the dream that she had for herself. Phyllis enjoyed helping people. For many years, she was a caregiver for her parents as their health failed.

Phyllis was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Tampa.

Phyllis did enjoy bowling. She and Butch were in mixed leagues and she followed Butch around while he bowled in various leagues and tournaments. After Butch passed away, she bowled with her children for some time while she was able.

Phyllis would always make time to watch her kids play sports in school and their various activities. There were summer baseball and softball games that she attended in those hot summer months and loved to watch her kids and their friends play ball. She was able to watch her grandchildren in some activities until her health slowed her down.

Phyllis enjoyed her 3 grandchildren, Michael Mueller (Sheila) of Laramie, Wyoming and Danielle Heath and Tyler Heath of Salina. She also had 3 great-grandchildren Thomas, Saige and Dane Mueller. She loved children and enjoyed when she could spoil them.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the outpouring of support from all of their family and friends. We are thankful for our memories with our mother and grandmother and will miss her dearly.

Pratt - Bonita "Bonnie" May Rojas, 65, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Pratt Health and Rehab. She was born February 24, 1956 in Pratt to Lloyd and Lois (Jenkins) Bishop. "Bonnie" married John L. Rojas on January 10, 1983 in Pratt. They were married for 38 years.

Bonnie worked as a Manager for Love's. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended AA . She enjoyed playing Bingo.

She is survived by her husband, John Rojas of Pratt; son, James Wesley Brown of Austin, Texas; daughter, Shelly Renee (Alex) Robles of Pratt; step daughter, Anita Rojas of Pratt; and grandchildren, Trinity Brown, Chereth Brown and Alethea Brown.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Daryl Bishop and Larry Bishop.

She was born April 10, 1935 at Acres, Kansas, the daughter of Jason Burnard (Skeet) and Elsie Lunsford Simonson. A Cunningham resident most of her life she was a retired USD #332 teacher &amp; former Democratic council woman. She belonged to the Methodist Church &amp; was a member of Catholic Church of Cunningham. On August 29, 1953, she married Harold L Schreck at St. Leo, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1991. Cunningham- Effie Darlene (Simonson) Schreck, 86, died Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Grand Plains Skilled Nursing in Pratt. She was born April 10, 1935 at Acres, Kansas, the daughter of Jason Burnard (Skeet) and Elsie Lunsford Simonson. A Cunningham resident most of her life she was a retired USD #332 teacher &amp; former Democratic council woman. August Freund passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4th at the age of 90. 

He was born at home on November 9, 1930 in Andale, Kansas to August F. and Leona (Colburn) Freund. August spent his childhood on the family farm in Little River. A resident of Great Bend since 1958, he moved to South Hutchinson in 2016 and resided at the Mennonite Friendship Community. August graduated from Little River High School in 1948. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corp from December 1951 to December 1953, residing in Vista, CA. August and his wife, Vada, returned to Kansas in 1957. He worked in construction for Hahner, Foreman and Cale for over twenty years, and then worked for Baker-Hughes and retired in 1992. After retirement he enjoyed stonework, woodworking and working with metal. He was a former member of Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend and a current member of Guadalupe Catholic Church in South Hutchinson, KS. On May 26, 1951, he married Vada L. Folck in Little River, KS at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. They were married for 70 loving years. 

August will be lovingly remembered by his children: Charla A. (Darren) Thornton of Olathe, Michael E. (Deborah) Freund of Great Bend, Mary Kay (Bruce) Kelm of Shawnee, Eric J. (Kathy) Freund of Hutchinson and Mark A. (Vina) Freund of Hutchinson. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Danielle Tyler, Leslie Reese, Jay Thornton, Barret Freund, Anna Loera, Andrew Freund, Craig Freund, Benjamin Kelm and Abigail Kelm; by great-grandchildren: Alexis, Joey, Ellie, Mia, Rigley, Kylie, Evonna, Evangelina, August, Asher, James, and Jace; and a brother, David Freund (Rose) and sister-in-law, Marla Freund. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Leona Freund, brothers: James and Edgar and infant sister, Lola Marie.

Burial will follow at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River with military honors by the United States Marines Corps. Rodney D. Eggert, 75, died June 5, 2021 at his home outside Norwich.

He was born May 12, 1946, at Harper, Kansas the son of Carl A. and Norma E.  Johnston Eggert.  A lifetime resident of Norwich, he was a retired architectural design and project manager for Law Kingdom.

Rod was a 1964 graduate of Norwich High School.

Ann Janet “Annie” Davenport Moeder, 73, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, due to complications with pneumonia. She was born December 30, 1947, in Eugene, OR, to Joseph A. and Viola M. (Van Hoozen) Davenport.&nbsp;

As a child, Annie pretty much grew up on a horse. A passion of hers, she won many 1st place prizes to qualify for state competition in pleasure riding on her favorite horse, Scatty Kitty. Annie took part in many rodeos all throughout her college years at Fort Hays State University. It was there that she also fell in love with and married Leon Joseph Moeder on August 16, 1969.&nbsp; Soon after their marriage, they started their family.

Annie was always an energetic storyteller. Nothing delighted her more than selling you something that just moments before you had no idea you needed so badly. When you walked away happy, Annie was positively tickled. Born with the Davenport gift of gab, she used this gift as a clerk at the family’s Davenport Auction and Realty business.&nbsp; Later, she used her gift of gab as a sales associate, selling large appliances and furniture at Woody’s and Crupper's Corner. &nbsp;Annie also enjoyed swapping stories (some of which were a little naughty) as she raised milk then meat goats.&nbsp; In addition, she started a restaurant in Sylvia called “Wheatberry Kitchen”, and embroidered numerous towels and goods for sale at various central Kansas Farmers' markets.&nbsp;

Annie was well-known as an amazing cook.&nbsp; Family members recall her making 17 gallons of macaroni and cheese at a time (or so it seemed)! &nbsp;Annie also won the Governor’s Breadbasket at the Kansas State Fair more than once for her delicious yeast rolls. She also served several years on the Nickerson/South Hutchinson USD 309 School Board.

Annie was a loving and doting mom to not only her wonderful sons but also their many friends and acquaintances. Wherever Annie was, tears of laughter were soon to follow.&nbsp;

Annie is survived by: sons, Daron Moeder and Toby Moeder; granddaughter, Brailey Moeder; sister, Alice Lewman; two nieces, Abby Trimble and Ginger Lewman;&nbsp; Daron and Toby’s father, Leon J. Moeder;&nbsp; and companion, James O. Yoder.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Joseph A. and Viola M.; brother-in-law, Wayne Lewman; and companions, Clarence Forrester and Gary Kelly.

Jack J. Malek 87, died Saturday December 19, 2020 at Newton Medical Center.  He was born June 29, 1933 in Beloit, Kansas to John and Mary (Waner) Malek.

Jack attended Catholic School in Wichita before moving to Florence, Kansas where he graduated high school and joined the US Navy soon after.

Jack was a United States Navy Veteran.  He retired as a commercial painter for both Koehn and Associates painting and LeRoy Koehn Painting both in Newton.  Jack enjoyed being kept busy and worked till he was 70 when he retired.

He was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.

Jack enjoyed being around people and being social, and was actively involved in the Mexican American softball tournament for many years. He especially enjoyed time with his loving family.  He looked forward to working out at the Newton YMCA and keeping up with his friends. When he relaxed his television was often on ESPN where he enjoyed sports especially following the Chiefs, Royals and KU.  He had a love of boxing and was a boxer in his younger years.

He is survived by his daughters Tammy Phares and Kim (Rick) Spengler. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and his companion Cecilla “Nina” Llamas

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard Malek and William Creamer; sisters Shirley Lassley, Mary Lou Dean and Sandra Smith.  He is also preceded in death by son in law Ed Phares.

Donna LaVerne (Sims) Brown, 89, of Winfield, KS, died January 3, 2021. Donna was born on January 5, 1931 to Carrie Leona Anderson Sims and Ward Peter Sims in Minneola, Kansas. Donna was a “girly” girl who loved wearing pretty dresses, many made from flour sacks that were designed with flowers or cute patterns. She loved music which included playing the piano and then the trombone later on, spending time with her best friends Nannette Pitman and Betty Lou Sandidge, listening to her mother read stories in the evening, and teasing her older brothers.

During Easter break of her sophomore year at Southwestern College, Donna married her sweetheart, Clinton Brown, whom she had met at the “Toot N’ Tell’m” drive-in at Dodge City in the summer of 1949. Clinton was a basketball star at Pittsburg State Teacher’s College and after their marriage they remained inseparable for the next 64 years until his death in 2015, except for the year he spent serving his country in the Koren War.

After Clinton returned home, they moved to Iowa City, Iowa, before returning to Donna’s hometown where he began a career in education and they started a family. Over the next 35 years, they lived in Lincoln and McPherson as well as Minneola where Donna worked for Lincoln School and then accepted a job with People Bank &amp; Trust in McPherson, KS, where she worked until 2001 as Loan Officer and the Board Secretary while he continued teaching and coaching.

Donna and Clinton were both active members of the First Christian Church in McPherson, teaching the Young Thinkers Sunday School class, serving as Elders in the church, and working with the weekly church youth programs. Once they were both retired in 2001, they moved to Sublette to be near to three of their grandchildren and following them as they crossed the state with stops at Columbus, Yates Center, and Colby. In May, 2015, Donna and Clinton moved to Derby where he was admitted to Westview Senior Living Center and she rented an apartment at the Greens, right on the Derby Country Club golf course. When Clinton died on July 15, 2015, Donna continued living there until she moved in with her son, Kevin, and daughter-in-law, Pam, at Winfield in December of 2019. She enjoyed living in Winfield, but the effects of kidney failure and years of dialysis were hard on Donna and she passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning January 3, 2021.

The most important things in Donna’s life were her family, friends, and faith in God. She stayed active with women’s group through the Woodlawn Methodist Church in Derby, two book clubs as well as reading many other books, eating out with friends, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and promoting Camp Hope, the camp for kids with cancer that she started with the American Cancer Society in honor of her two children who died of cancer. “Ma Donna” was the director of Camp Hope for its first 18 years and has remained involved through the last 18 years as one of three Members Emeritus.

Survivors include two children, Kevin Brown (Pam) of Winfield, KS; Lori Nelzen of Hesston, KS; grandchildren, John Nelzen (Elizabeth) of Tallahassee, FL; Melissa Brown (Jenny Smith), Wichita, KS; Kyle Brown, Joplin, MO, Cameron Brown, Joplin, MO; great-grandchildren, Soren Nelzen Tallahassee, FL; Bridget Nelzen, Tallahassee, FL; step-children Blake Zimmerman (Samantha) Burlington, KS; Ryan Walt (Blaine) Collyer, KS; and Shay Howell (Cody) Manhattan, KS; step-grandchildren Brock Zimmerman, Avery Zimmerman, Jordi Walt, Bowen Walt, and Kace Howell; numerous special nieces and nephews; and, Deanna Hodges, Tony Nelzen, Donald Brown, and Stephan Lane. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clinton; son, Kyle; daughter, Melani; and, brothers, Joe Sims and Ward Sims.

Karml Jan Blumanhourst, 59, of Azle, Texas, passed away June 3, 2021 at her home. She was born January 30, 1962 in Larned, Kansas, the daughter of Melvin D. and Carol Keenan Thompson. Karml has resided in Azle since May of 2016, formerly of Lyons, Kansas. She attended school in Larned and Mt. Saint Scholastica in Canon City, Colorado. 

Karml completed her nursing degree at Pratt Community College and served as primary care RN at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons from 1987 until 2001, Hutchinson Regional Medical Center from 2002 until 2016, and John Peter Smith Hospital, Ft. Worth, Texas from 2016 until present. Karml will be long remembered for her excellence in nursing care in every position she held. She loved traveling with her husband and her family, venturing all over the United States, Tenerife, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Australia, Aruba, Hawaii, and throughout the Caribbean. She enjoyed snorkeling, and beach combing, and was always on the lookout for “treasures” to delight her grandchildren. Family and friends will share fond memories of their travel adventures. On July 6, 1993, Karml was united in marriage with Randy Blumanhourst in Central City, Colorado, with their 7 children serving as witnesses. 

He survives of the home. She is also survived by their seven children, Levi and Mandy Blumanhourst and their children, Lane, Bennett, and Miles of South Hutchinson, KS; Christopher and Kristi Hogan and their children, Elijah and Noah of Coffeyville, KS; Hollie and Matt Ankerholz and their children, Landon and Shealeigh of Lyons, KS; Jerrehl and Jeremy Brown and their children, Jocelyn and Jaron of Aurora, CO; Andrew Hogan of Wichita, KS; Daniel Hogan of Hutchinson, KS; Dr. Keenan and Merideth Hogan and their expected baby of Shawnee, KS; three brothers, Dan Thompson and wife Kay of Pawnee Rock, KS, Kim Thompson and wife Joy of Topeka, KS, and Randall Thompson of Arlington, KS; two sisters, Kandi Smith and Doug Ramey of Ft. Lewis McCay Smith, 81, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away June 3, 2021 at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson. He was born May 7, 1940, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Paul and Patricia Irene Grubb Smith. Lewis has resided in Lyons since 2002, formerly of Hutchinson. He was a retired meat cutter for Dillons. 

Lewis served in the United States Army from November 24, 1959 until November 23, 1965. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Sterling, and Westside Baptist Church of Hutchinson. On February 6, 1960, Lewis was united in marriage with Jean Gail King in Lyons. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2019. 

Lewis is also preceded in death by his parents; and son, Kenneth A. Smith. He is survived by his three sons, Lewis M. Smith, Jr. of Sylvis, IL, Jeffrey C. Smith of Harrisburg, PA, and Kelly L. Smith of Lawrence, KS; daughter, Shelly M. She was born Feb. 22, 1942, at Norwich, Kansas the daughter of Thomas and Agnes Wallace Lowery.  A resident of the Rago most of her life, she retired from White’s IGA, Kingman.

Joyce attended the Norwich United Methodist Church.

On Aug. 6, 1960, she married Arnold Ray Reida at Harper, Kansas.  Other survivors include daughter Sandra Brown, and her husband Bryan; sister Joanne Ziegler; sister-in-law Karen Lowery; 1 grandson Jason Reida and wife Tia; and one great-grandchild Emberly  She was preceded in death by a son Sam; and brothers Darwin and Leon Lowery.

William’s life began on February 12, 1963 in Miami, Florida. He was the loving son of Enrique Antonio and Alida (Garcia) Cardonnè. William was a 1981 graduate of Bell High School in Bell, California. He also attended the El Camino Community College in Bell, California. 

William was united in marriage to Roxana Patricia Nolasco on August 12, 1994 in Hawthorne, California. To this union were three children, Vanessa, Nathan, and Jared.

William served as a pastor at El Camino Church in McPherson, Kansas until he had a debilitating stroke in 2019. William enjoyed serving the Lord on mission trips, working with children and youth, served as an interpreter for the Rice County Court system and Rice County School District. He also enjoyed his family, traveling, cooking, his KU memorabilia.

His loving family includes his wife, Roxana of the home; three children, Vanessa Pimblott (Jonny) of St. Louis, Missouri, Nathan Cardonnè (Roxanne) of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Jared Cardonnè (Esmee) of St. Louis; a brother, Enrique Cardonnè (Esther) of Cudahay, California; 5 grandchildren, Josue, Judah, Jesse, Yasiel, Lena; 2 nephews, Richard and Andy and 1 niece, Ileene.  

William was preceded in death by his parents. William passed away at the Salem Nursing Home in Hillsboro on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the age of 58 years old. She was born May 18, 1934 in Wichita, KS, the daughter of Walter A. and Johanne H. (Nelsen) Freeman. On December 21, 1952 she married Frank E. Bowlby in Eureka Springs, AR, to this union they were blessed with six children, Clifford, Jerry, Clinton, Bruce, Roxane and Frank.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; a brother, Walt Stockton, and a sister, Helen Cole.

Hutchinson – Donald M. Frye, 89, died June 3, 2021 at Hutchinson Health and Rehab, Hutchinson. He was born March 13, 1932 in Zainzville, OH., the son of Norris and Vera (Hansen) Frye. He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School. A Hutchinson resident most of his life, he and his wife owned Mom’s Attic, Hutchinson. He had also worked for Rainbow Bakery and Dillon’s Bakery. He was a member of Crossroad’s Christian Church. He married Janice L. DeWater on October 4, 1952 in Hutchinson. She died on March 21, 2013.

Donald enjoyed being a baseball coach, Cub Scout leader and spending his time fishing and going to garage sales. He loved his wife, children and all of his grandchildren dearly and loved spending his time with them. Other survivors include two sons, Donald (Mary) Frye, Jr., Wichita and Randy (Denise) Frye, Lawrence, two daughters, Lori (Richard) Kerwood, Towanda, and Lisa (Jerry) Taylor, Hutchinson, a brother, James (Pam) Frye, Hutchinson, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. Charles E. Lanzrath, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 28, 2021, while on vacation at Beaver Lake (AR). Charlie was born in Wichita, KS on November 23, 1949, son of Duane and Rosemarie (Faber) Lanzrath.

Charlie attended St. Patrick Grade School, Bishop Carroll High School and graduated from Wichita State University. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. Charlie was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion Post #2. Charlie worked for Santa Fe Railroad, Central Kansas Railroad and retired from Westar Energy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Betty (Elizabeth) Lanzrath of Newton, daughters Jill (Slade) Engstrom, Benton, KS; Nancy Lanzrath, Lihue, HI, and Kelsey (Trey) Cleaveland, Wichita, KS; four grandchildren who know him as Bobo, Tessa, Teagan, Michael and Saylor; exchange student/daughter Tami Gongora, São Paulo, Brazil; brother Donald (Sandie) Lanzrath, Newton, sisters Beverly Klag, Mary Lou (Tom) Beskett, Andover and Virginia (Tom) Zackula, Wichita,  and numerous nieces and nephews.  Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth.

He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally. He could fix most anything and was skilled at moving furniture; learning it as a child with his dad and brothers.  He was an expert storyteller and driving instructor. He loved finding people the perfect gift to fit their personalities. Garage and estate sales were all about the thrill of the hunt. He loved fishing and hunting or any adventure as long as you were willing to wake up before sunrise to get a head start. He could find common ground with anyone.

The Rosary Vigil will be celebrated at 6 pm Thursday, June 3, 2021, and the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Friday, June 4, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Newton, KS. Services arranged by Petersen Funeral Home, Newton, KS. Services will be available to be viewed online.

Charlie worked for Santa Fe Railroad, Central Kansas Railroad and retired from Westar Energy.He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Betty (Elizabeth) Lanzrath of Newton, daughters Jill (Slade) Engstrom, Benton, KS; Nancy Lanzrath, Lihue, HI, and Kelsey (Trey) Cleaveland, Wichita, KS; four grandchildren who know him as Bobo, Tessa, Teagan, Michael and Saylor; exchange student/daughter Tami Gongora, São Paulo, Brazil; brother Donald (Sandie) Lanzrath, Newton, sisters Beverly Klag, Mary Lou (Tom) Beskett, Andover and Virginia (Tom) Zackula, Wichita, and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth.He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally. He could fix most anything and was skilled at moving furniture; learning it as a child with his dad and brothers. He was an expert storyteller and driving instructor. He loved finding people the perfect gift to fit their personalities. Garage and estate sales were all about the thrill of the hunt. He loved fishing and hunting or any adventure as long as you were willing to wake up before sunrise to get a head start. Donna Lorraine Forsberg, 89, of Lindsborg passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Bethany Home, Lindsborg. Donna was born June 1, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Francis Arthur “Art” and Alma Caroline (Holden) Swenson.  

Donna graduated from Concordia High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Bethany College.  She was married to Kenneth Forsberg on May 24, 1953 in Norway, Kansas.

Donna was a school teacher in Lindsborg and Salina.  She also worked as a paraprofessional for special education in Lindsborg.  Donna was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the Lindsborg community, where she was a Meals on Wheels volunteer.  She served on the Bethany College Alumni Council, and was the former secretary and a volunteer on the Lindsborg Pride Committee.  Donna was also a former member and president of the AlKaid Federated Club. 

Donna is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Kenneth; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lewis and Nadine Sole and Paul and Romeyn Nordell; and brother-in-law: Edwin Pick

Survivors include her daughter: Rochelle Glover (Rick) of Newton, KS; son: Brad Forsberg (Jill) of Lindsborg, KS; grandchildren: Brianne Whitley (Zach), Brooke Glover, Allison Forsberg; Megan Forsberg, and Garrett Forsberg; sister: Marian Pick; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Shirley and Jon Sjogren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 401 N. 1st St., Lindsborg, KS with Pastor Amy Truhe officiating.  Private inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery prior to the memorial.

Tina Rae Harris, 66, of Buhler, KS passed away suddenly on May 29, 2021. She was born in Boyd, Kentucky and raised in Kokomo, Indiana. Tina was the daughter of the late Ernest Frazier and Levonia Virginia (Riffe) Frazier.

She was a lifelong, loving fan of the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees, but her love for her teams was not as much as her love for her grandchildren. Tina was known for her kind heart, generosity, and contagious smile. Hook ‘em Horns!

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Carl Thomas Harris, Buhler; stepson, Carl Robert Shircliff, Ohio; sons, Robert (Victoria) Graf, Kansas and Zachary (Keriann) Harris, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Kailee, Max, Emma, Carly, Noah, Austin, Ellie, Allison, and Zeke; two sisters, Sheila Hayes, Florida and Donna Frazier, Indiana; one brother, Ernie Frazier,  Indiana; and several nieces &amp; nephews

Ronald John “Ron” Dryden, 65, died May 30, 2021, at Pine Village, Moundridge.  He was born December 1, 1955, in Larned, to Robert Scott and Velda Lenora (Ernsting) Dryden.

Ron graduated from Larned High School in 1974.  He worked on the family farm, before finding his passion as an over-the-road truck driver, typically hauling hazardous material.  Ron enjoyed gardening, hunting, and welding.  He was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, Hutchinson.

In November 2007, he married Linda (Taylor) Bock, in Las Vegas, NV. 

Ron is survived by:  wife, Linda; siblings, Glenda Elaine Schuft (Ronny), Harold William Dryden (Valerie), and Marvin Wayne Dryden (Janelle); children, Diane Lika (Endri), Michael Dryden (Belen) , Wyatt Dryden (Ingrid),  and Leslie Ziola (Jeramie); stepdaughters, Crystal Thiessen (Jacob) and Carissa Bock (CJ); 13 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary.  Burial will follow in the Burrton Cemetery.  Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday.

Patricia “Patty” Ann Beaushaw, 65, of Halstead, passed away on May 17, after a fierce battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Patty, born on November 12, 1955, to Nancy and Robert Mandeville in Sterling, KS, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world as the youngest of 6.

In 1972, she met Gordon and the two were inseparable from that point on. Patty and Gordon were married for 46 years and had 4 daughters, Wendy, Jody, Kasey, and Ashley.

Patty was a lovingly devoted mom to her children, raising all 4 of them to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Patty, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Patty was predeceased by her parents in 2002 and 2003. She is survived by her husband, all of her brothers and sisters, her 4 daughters, and her 9 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 6th at 7:00 pm.  Join us at The Ark Church, 5501 N. Maize Rd, Maize, to celebrate her new life in Heaven.

W. Roy Ralston, 105, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at South Wind Home. He was born April 3, 1916 on a farm Southeast of Kismet in Seward County to Walter R and Florence (Thompson) Ralston. Walter married Ila F. (Covey) Ralston on May 15, 1937 in Pratt. They were married for 82 years when she preceded him in death on December 19, 2019.

Roy moved to Pratt County in 1930. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 20th Infantry in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He owned and operated Ralston Trucking Service (R &amp; R Truck) for 16 years. He was a manager and salesman for Mid Kansas Irrigation. He was a member of Pratt Elks and Pratt Saddle Club. He enjoyed horses and spending time with grandson and great-grandsons and welding.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Ralston (Bobby Stone) Slade of Euless, Texas; grandson, Jeff (Amy) Slade of Haviland; and great-grandsons, Wyatt, Buck, Justin and Tucker Slade.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ila F. Ralston.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2021 at Sunset Cemetery, Cullison with John Hamm presiding.
