Pearl Lorraine Tedford, 99, died November 13, 2024, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born August 30, 1925, in Minneola, to Roy Bryce and Vera Rose (Ward) Tedford.

Pearl graduated from Minneola High School and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. She worked in the office for the Minneola CO-OP for a few years and later moved to Hutchinson where she worked at Farmarco for many years before eventually retiring.

One of Pearl’s greatest passions was traveling and exploring the world. In her many travels, she visited all seven continents and went on many cruises and bus tours with friends. Another thing Pearl was passionate about was her family. She frequently traveled to graduations, weddings, and other special life events. She organized and hosted many family get-togethers, including family reunions at Ashland and birthday parties for her numerous nieces and nephews in her basement. Many knew her as “Aunt Pearl”, and when visiting Aunt Pearl’s house could expect to be entertained with exotic souvenirs from around the world and exciting games of Rummikub or dominoes.

Pearl volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of a camera club where she would share her extensive collection of slides amassed on her travels. Pearl was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, where she enjoyed being a greeter and participating and being an officer in the women’s group.

Pearl is survived by: nieces and nephews; Larry (Suzanne) Kabelac of Lake Bay, WA; Richard (Terill) Kabelac of Federal Way, WA; Ronald (Becki) Kabelac of Port Orchard, WA; Lynda (Bill) Linder of Lindsborg, KS; Sandra (Gary) Craft of Wichita, KS; Robert Tedford of Columbia, SC; Dennis (Brenda) Tedford of Brownfield, TX; Joan (Fred) Bloder of San Marcos, TX; Allan (Sandra) Holt of Mountain Home, AR; Arlan Holt of Mountain Home, AR; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, Fern Kabelac, Lynn Tedford, Faye Holt; nephews, Kenneth Holt, Landy Tedford, Jerry Kabelac; and niece, Cheryl Schiermeier.

Donna Jean Kroeker, 87, passed away December 2, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.

She was born November 30, 1937, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Albert J. and Sarah Ediger Regier. Donna graduated from Buhler High School and went on to get her associate’s degree in education from Bethel College. In addition to being a homemaker and farm wife, Donna worked for Gregory, Inc. in Buhler for 17 years prior to retiring. Donna was an active member of the Bethel Mennonite Church, where she enjoyed singing, Friendship Circle and her ladies Sunday School class. She especially cherished time with family, attending countless activities for her children and grandchildren.

On December 1, 1957, she married John W. Kroeker at the Buhler Mennonite Church. They shared 67 years of marriage.

Donna is survived by her husband John; her children, Loren (Kathy) Kroeker, Inman, Mark (Andrea) Kroeker, Salina, Lyle (Julie) Kroeker, Salina, and Lisa (Justin) Jensen, Hutchinson; sisters, Renetta (Elmer) Kroeker, Inman, Jan (Alvin) Kroeker, Inman, and Sylvia Schmidt (Ken Meyer), Wichita; sister- in-law, Ella Regier, Newton; grandchildren, Andrew (Caitlin) Kroeker, Daniel Kroeker, Matthew Kroeker, Kelsey Kroeker, Kyle (Anna) Kroeker, Katy Kroeker, Kaleb Kroeker, Karly Kroeker, Nathan (Michaela) Kroeker, Timothy Kroeker, Landon (Paige) Stucky, Mallory (Tyler) Cottam, Colton Stucky and Caden Stucky; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Larry W. Dreiling, 82, died December 2, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS surrounded by his loving and caring family. Larry was born on July 24, 1942, in Wichita, KS, the son of Alex&nbsp;and Regina (Lang) Dreiling.

Larry graduated from St. Teresa’s Catholic High School in 1960 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He graduated from Kansas State University and then joined the Peace Corps for 2 years. He then graduated from the University of Wisconsin.

On July 24, 1983, he married Nina Mae Griffin and shared 41 years of marriage prior to her&nbsp;death on August 9, 2022.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nina; brother, Darrell; sister, Antoinella Garcia and a stepson, Jimmy Pace.

He is survived by stepson, Tim (Yvonne) Pace of Derby, KS; sisters, Marilyn Pinkerton of Wichita, KS, Shirley (Dennis) Hogan of Hutchinson, KS; brother-in-law, Jesse Garcia of&nbsp;Hutchinson, KS; granddaughter Karla (Brian) Broadman and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry W. Dreiling |1942-2024|

Dr. William D. (Bill) Davis, 80, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, November 25, 2024, with his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Kris Bergman Davis, at his side.

Bill was born on June 20, 1944, in Hutchinson, KS to parents Jack and Louise (Petersen) Davis.

Bill graduated from the University of Kansas in 1966 (BA in English with a focus on Pre-Medicine) and from the University of Kansas Medical School in 1970. At KU, Bill was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. As a senior, he was introduced by his brother Jim to Kristine (Kris) Bergman who was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and a KU cheerleader. They were engaged in just six weeks and married in St. Louis, Missouri on June 18, 1969.

Bill served in the U.S. Army for two years, mostly with the Rangers’ Jungle Training School of the 101st Airborne Division in the Panama Canal Zone, ending his service in 1973 with the rank of Major.

Bill completed a rotating internship in the Panama Canal Zone from 1970 to 1971. While in Panama, their daughter Kara Chellu Davis was born in 1970 and their son Octavio Alejandro Davis was born in 1973. He and Kris intentionally chose to live off-base so they could significantly develop their Spanish-speaking capabilities, learn more about Panamanian culture, and connect with Panamanian parents raising their kids. His experience in the Panama Canal Zone and fluency in Spanish helped him land his U.S. Army assignment to Panama.

As a doctor back stateside, Bill and Kris moved to Santa Rosa, California in 1973 where Bill completed his residency in Family Medicine for two years at Santa Rosa Memorial hospital. Bill and Kris returned to Hutchinson in 1975 where Bill joined the Medical Center at 11th &amp; Main. While with the Medical Center, he was a major stockholder and one of the leaders of that facility. Following the merger between the Medical Center and the Hutchinson Clinic, Bill continued his practice with the Hutchinson Clinic, ending his medical career in 2011.

Bill was a “Dr. Marcus Welby” type of doctor who loved to treat the whole family whenever possible rather than individual patients. It was not uncommon for patients to come to Bill’s home or for him to visit their home when care was needed. For many years, his patients were entertained by his green parrot “Pancho” who often accompanied him into the exam room on Bill’s shoulder.

Bill had an uncanny memory for telling detailed jokes, in various dialects, which he had perfected. In that regard, he took after his father Jack, who knew and loved jokes. Bill was a passionate watercolor painter, as well as a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and KU football and basketball. He took pride in delivering over six hundred&nbsp;babies as an OBGYN practitioner. His heart was warmed when he encountered those he delivered and their families.

Bill is survived by loving family members, including his wife Kristine, daughter Kara, son Octavio, brother Jon and wife Berna, brother Jim and wife Trish Rose, brother-in-law Steven Bergman and wife Pat, along with six nieces and nephews, and ten grand nieces and nephews.

The Davis family will have a private service. Details of a “Celebration of Life” for Bill will be announced at a later date. Those attending the “Celebration” will be encouraged to dress casually and bring at least one (family-friendly) joke to share with those attending.

Donald J. “Don” Haesemeyer, 94, died November 30, 2024, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born January 26, 1930, in rural Sylvan Grove, to Ed and Ella (Kasiska) Haesemeyer.

Don graduated from Sylvan Grove High School and Salt City Business College. &nbsp;He spent his career working for Dillons and Kwik Shop as an accountant and auditor. &nbsp; Don was a life-long member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On September 4, 1949, he married Norma H. Persigehl, in Hutchinson. &nbsp;She died December 3, 1998, after they shared almost 50 years of marriage. &nbsp;He later married Wilma Miller. &nbsp;She died January 5, 2020.

Don is survived by: &nbsp;children, Donna Kocher of Hutchinson, Dr. Allan Haesemeyer (Terry) of Shell Lake, WI, and Brenda Dobson of Hutchinson; sisters, Aileen Thouvenelle and Eloise Haesemeyer; brother, Larry Haesemeyer; grandchildren, Kelly Kocher, Alexandria Broz, Aaron “Sam” Haesemeyer, Abe Haesemeyer, Derek Dobson, and Matt Dobson (Katelyn); two great-granddaughters, Calloway Kocher and Camaro Long (Kyle); and one great-great-granddaughter, Winifred Long.

Donald J. “Don” Haesemeyer |1930-2024|

Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Edward Winters, 86, died November 26, 2024, at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems in Beloit. He was born February 21, 1938, in Moran, KS, to Edward Dan and Mildred Hazel (Thacker) Winters.

Kenny graduated from Preston High School and also attended Pratt JUCO for a year. He worked as a gas measurement technician for Williams Companies. Kenny enjoyed restoring vehicles and watching western movies. He was a very active member of Bethany Nazarene Church prior to his illness.

On June 18, 1961, he married Janet Sue Hammond in Coats. They shared over 61 years of marriage, prior to her death on August 19, 2022.

Kenneth is survived by: his children, Deanna Underwood of Esbon, KS, Larry (Terri) Winters of Spring Hill, KS, and Mike (Jamie) Winters of McKinney, TX; brothers, Joe (Karleen) Winters of Glenpool, OK, and Donald (Donita) Winters of Mountain View, AR; sister-in-law, Jeannie Winters of Elk City, OK; brother-in-law, Jerry (Rita) Hammond of Medicine Lodge, KS; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Lois Jane Jestes was born on June 22, 1935, to Oliver and Francis Baker. She grew up on a farm near Haven Kansas, where she enjoyed horseback riding. When in high school she contracted polio but eventually regained her health, although afterwards her legs fatigued easily. She graduated from Haven High School in 1953 and moved to Hutchinson, Kansas to work as a dental hygienist and eventually a receptionist for an insurance company.&nbsp;

She was featured in a full-page article on the modern working girl in the Hutchison News-Herald on April 1 of 1954. That same year the newspaper published an article noting that the 19-year-old, Jane Baker was crowned as the HNAS Centennial Air Show Queen. On April 27, 1956, Jane married her longtime beau, Gary Lee Edwards, in a church filled with lilacs. Jane was proud of her Welsh heritage and she and Gary visited her ancestral homeland on the Isle of Anglesey in 1965.&nbsp;

Jane enjoyed raising her four children, growing roses, cooking, and every year she returned to the farm to help with the wheat harvest. Jane loved to sing and was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s singing group.&nbsp; She relished her role as a mother and could be heard for miles cheering at the sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jane was an ardent advocate for her children and learned sign language in 1967 to better communicate with her youngest daughter. Jane and Gary parted in 1975. She married Jim Jestes in 1991, and they moved to Texas for a time. Jane passed away peacefully on November 28 Thanksgiving day, 2024.&nbsp;

She is survived by her siblings; Bill Baker of Lindsborg, KS, and Dee Ann Holeman of Dallas, TX, her children; Lisa Kellerby of Wichita, KS, Mike Edwards of Branson, MO, Ange Hilsendeger of Bozeman, MT, Judy Winter of Hutchinson, KS, Jeana Carrasco of Davison MI, Jami Jestes of Ashland, KY and Karen Barnes of Wichita, KS, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.&nbsp;

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Lea Brown Carr Harnett; twin sons, Donald Roy Brown II and Charles Clinton Brown II, and his wife Meranda; son John Haynes; sister Mabel Teddlie; and grandchildren: Adam Carr and significant other Dawn Perkins (Florida), Nathan Carr and significant other Jessica Butler (Florida), Amy Haynes and husband Anthony Matukas (Florida), John Haynes II (Florida), Daniel Brown (Florida), Jessica Soliz and husband Ian (Illinois), and Tim Maloney (Iowa). Edward Ray Bible, 75, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, Kansas. Ed was born March 7, 1949, in Cherokee, OK, the son&nbsp;of Ross and Iva (Patterson) Bible.

Ed graduated high school in Cherokee, OK and attended the Northwestern Oklahoma University&nbsp;where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree and majored in Economics and minored in&nbsp;Geography. On December 5, 1968, Ed enlisted in the United State Army and was honorably discharged on November 10, 1971. Ed worked for the Regional Planning Commissions in Wisconsin and the City of Hutchinson as an Economic Development Planner. He retired on&nbsp;March 1, 2014. On May 25, 1974, Ed married Cathrine E. Carufel in Austin, TX.

Ed was a member of the Hutchinson Noon Lions Club and the Lysle Rishel American Legion&nbsp;Post #68.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Clara Kirkland and Georgia Sayers; and a brother, Albert Bible.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine; brother, Richard Bible; brother-in-law, Rodney Sayers Sr; and several niece and nephews.

Sarah Josephine (Hatten) Schlotterback (Dec. 17, 1935-Nov. 24, 2024) was known for her compassionate nature. &nbsp;

She was born to Charles and Hazel Hatten of Nevada MO. &nbsp;Her mother was a teacher and father a dentist which helped guide her to a profession in helping others. &nbsp;She attended Cottey College in Nevada, MO, later attending the School of Nursing at Kansas University where she met and married William Schlotterback, also attending KU medical school. &nbsp;They moved to Lakin Ks. where they bought a fold out table and worked out of a small rented room. This was their first medical office. &nbsp;They later moved to the Bellville/Mankato Ks. area where Sarah spent her life serving the community. &nbsp;She was active in the church, community health, she served as the public librarian and was a care provider for many in Mankato. &nbsp;She is survived by her children Matthew, Anne Ferguson, Patrick, Mark, Mike and David and her 11 grandchildren, Sam, Summer, Jessica, Andrew, Olivia, Jackson, Sarah, Will, Lexi, Luke, Julian.

Sarah’s memory will remain in the hearts of her children and loved ones and all those who have had the privilege of knowing her.

Art worked as an independent farm equipment salesman and supported the Hutchinson community. He always worked hard and was not afraid to get his hands dirty on the farm. Although Art was vastly independent, his friends meant the world to him. He enjoyed meals at Skaets Steak Shop and fellowship at The Loyal Order of Moose #982.

Art is survived by: daughters, Keli (Jason) Teeter, Terena (Curtis) Boyer, Mary Elizabeth Wheaton Ball; sons, Todd (Kim) Herman, Al (Diane) Ball; grandchildren, Cheyenne Teeter, Dylan Teeter, Maegan (Brian) Whitum, Zachary Herman, Gabrielle Boyer and Olivia Boyer, family all of Oklahoma.&nbsp;

Marilyn Jackson, 94, of South Hutchinson, died November 25, 2024, at Hospice House. She was born June 19, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Jacob F. and Susie (Rempel) Richert.

Marilyn graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1948. She was a homemaker and, when her sons were grown, went to work at Ineeda Cleaners for 25 years until she retired. Marilyn was an avid reader and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Marilyn was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.

On September 28, 1950, she married Roy A. Jackson, in Hutchinson. They shared over 74 years of marriage.

Marilyn is survived by: her husband, Roy; sons, Craig Jackson and wife Janis of Hutchinson, Bruce Jackson and wife Kathryn of Paola, Brian Jackson of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Kari Mailloux and husband Phillip, Brianne Jackson, Carissa Jackson, Tom Jackson, Andrew Jackson, Sarah Terrell and husband Zach, Joe Power and wife Gretchen; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Elliott.

Daryl Lynn Robbins, 52, of Hutchinson, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at his home. &nbsp;He was born on May 18, 1972 in Wichita, to Blaine and Gwinetha Stark Robbins.

Daryl attended Wichita Public Schools. He worked in and raised his family in Hutchinson. He worked at Midwest Iron and Metal and Shuler Trucking before starting his career at The Hutchinson Correctional Facility. &nbsp;Daryl was so proud to be part of the correctional facility starting as a corporal and working his way up to Master Sergeant before having to medically retire in 2011.

On May 19, 1993, he married Carmella Thompson in Wichita. They shared 18 years of marriage and raised three beautiful children. He later met and fell in love with Ame Baldridge who he was blessed to spend the remainder of his life with.

Daryl was always known for being the life of the party. &nbsp;In later years, he faced many health issues, but continued to enjoy fishing and working in his shop. His greatest joy by far was the time spent with his grandchildren, coloring and playing games. He was their beloved Papa.

Daryl is survived by: his children, Sarah (Jon) Blanton, Cole Robbins, both of Hutchinson, and Makayla (Eli) Corino of Moundridge; significant other and love of his life, Ame &nbsp;Baldridge and her children Josie (Cody) Driskell and Darien Baldridge; grandchildren, Kaden Robbins, Kolton Robbins, Max Blanton, Lily Phillips, Kassidy Corino, Jordan Corino and Wyatt Driskell; sister, &nbsp;Deanna Stewart; brother, David Robbins; nephews, Phillip (Chelsea) &nbsp;Stewart &nbsp;and Jason Stewart; and mother of his children, Carmella de Beer (Wilhelm).

He was proceeded in death by his parents.

James M. “Jim” Voth, 80, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born on August 9, 1944 in Newton, Kansas, to Edward&nbsp;and Ruth (Roth) Voth.

Jim enlisted in the Air National Guard of Kansas, serving from 1964 to 1970, attaining the rank&nbsp;of Sergeant.

He was an active member of the Buhler Mennonite Church.

Jim was united in marriage to Barbara Hale on June 18, 1971 at the Buhler Mennonite Church.

She survives of the home after 53 years of marriage.

Jim owned and operated Buhler Auto since 1976.

Jim loved to drive. He drag-raced for over 58 years and was a member of the National Hot Rod Association since 1963. His racing trips to Colorado would often turn into family vacations.

He enjoyed KU basketball and football, but his favorite sports to watch were those his children&nbsp;and grandchildren played.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Voth of the home; children, Mike (Tracy) Voth of Hutchinson, Susan Voth of Hutchinson, and Brian (Sarah) Voth of Wilmington, NC; ten grandchildren, Loryn&nbsp;Wilson, Jarod (Sydney) Boll, Drew Voth, Michael Boll, Rienne Voth, Gracie Voth, Eron Boll, Tessa Johnston, Jackson Voth and Lillian Voth; four great-grandchildren Tyler and Evie Wilson, Krus Valdez, and Caleb Boll; two sisters, Suzanne Lara of Buhler, and Sally Voth Company of&nbsp;Lawrence; brother, Mark (Rebecca) Voth of Buhler; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

James M. “Jim” Voth |1944-2024|

Roberta (Rhodes) Crum, 82, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler, Kansas. She was born on July 14, 1942, to Carol and Pauline Rhodes in Austin, Texas.

Roberta met and married the love of her life, Bruce Crum, in September of 1959. They celebrated their love for 65 years as longtime residents of Hutchinson, KS. Roberta worked in hospitality at the once-known “Holidome” Holiday Inn. Always smiling and joking, Roberta had a knack for “rummaging”, cooking, and Kansas City Chiefs football. She especially loved spreading the Christmas spirit as she passionately transformed into Mrs. Claus alongside Bruce as Santa. Caroling throughout Hutch and seeing all the young and old children’s smiling faces warmed their hearts.

Roberta loved her family fiercely, as a mother to Larry Dean Crum, Norman Dennis Crum, and Julia Lynn Crum, as grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was especially proud of each of them and their accomplishments, always having something to brag about them.

Roberta went to heaven joining her daughter, Julia; her son, Norman; her parents; and siblings, Vivian, Dorthey, Ann, Jimmy, and Paul.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce (of the home); son, Larry (Holly, CO); and sister, Cathy Bailey (Palmer, TX); as well as 10 grandchildren and their spouses, CB Crum, Jason Gulley, Jarmey Gulley, Jarid Gulley, Aaron Crum, Kathleen Crum, Richie Crum, Holly Crum, Ashley Fort, Kevin Moll, and Corey Moll; 18 great-grandchildren: Amber, Kaylee, Bradon, Athena, Nicholas, Audrey, Harley, Megan, Lealand, Rosey, Remington, Marissa, Marks, Nolan, Trinity, Cambrie, Callie, and Cayden; one great-great grandchild, Kannon, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends. She will be greatly missed.

The family extends great appreciation to Bonnie “Soupy” Sue Bribiesca, her loving niece for all the loving care she has provided over the years and to the staff and fellow residents at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community.

Elizabeth Joan Brown, native and longtime resident of Reno County, Kansas, passed away at the Hospice House in Hutchinson on Thursday, November 21, at 1:05 p.m., at the age of 87. Joan was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, on June 29, 1937, to Clarence Merle Cecil (deceased) and Margaret Ellen Macklin Cecil Starr (Deceased). Her siblings are Paul Frederick Cecil (deceased) of Round Rock, Texas, and Gloria Jean Starr Chadwick of Hutchinson, Kansas.

Joan attended high school at Hutchinson High School (the same high school that her mom and daughter attended), where she was involved in the Civil Air Patrol and participated on a skating team with her best friend, Bonnie. As a young girl, Joan took piano lessons until age 15. She played beautifully. Joan was a very creative person, engaging in a variety of artistic pursuits like making costumes and clothing for her children and grandchildren, crocheting doilies, and hanging wallpaper. Her parents had taught Joan how to hang wallpaper, and she passed this skill along to her daughter, Nancy. Joan constantly shared her creative gifts with others. She inherited a green thumb from her mother resulting in a very productive garden. Joan loved to preserve her fruits and vegetables and she happily taught others how. Joan loved animals and raised several dogs and cats over her lifetime. Recently, she and Charlie adopted two kittens, Mena and Echo, from the local SPCA. They were such a joy to Joan. During her life, Joan also enjoyed square-dancing with Charlie (she loved to make their outfits) and cruising the oceans. She and Charlie visited Alaska three times, Hawaii once, also Italy and the Mediterranean region.

Joan met her husband, Charlie, at age 17. On April 17, 1954, Joan married Donald Roy “Charlie” Brown in Hutchinson, Kansas, with her best friend as her bride's maid. Charlie was in the Navy and friends with Joan’s stepdad, Bill Starr. Bill had no idea that Charlie was dating his daughter and was surprised when Joan and Charlie came home to tell her parents they were getting married. Joan began her married life as a military wife. During their first three years of marriage, Charlie and Joan lived in Hutchinson and began raising three children: Nancy Lea Brown Carr Harnett, Charles Clinton Brown II, and Donald Roy Brown II. While Charlie traveled the world working in a variety of positions aboard military ships, Joan took care of the children, working a variety of jobs to help support the family, including retail work at the Ben Franklin store in Hutchinson.

In 1960, the Navy relocated the Browns to Marietta, Georgia, where Michael Edward Brown was born and sadly passed away. Subsequently, the Navy relocated the family to Virginia where they spent several years. During this time, Joan worked as a school bus driver. She was so good at it that she often taught other drivers. She participated in the annual school bus rodeo, where she would wrangle the bus through an obstacle course to show others how to navigate. While living in Virginia and during Charlie’s deployment, Joan had occasion to host other military wives for short periods. She hosted one wife from Greece and one from Italy. They shared recipes and lifestyles while in the United States and Joan became famous for her lasagna which she learned from Mrs. Natale from Italy.

In 1966, the Navy relocated Charlie to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Joan and the children lived in Hutchinson Kansas, shortly before their reassignment but in May 1966, all relocated to Guantanamo Bay for two-and-a-half years, during which time Joan performed noteworthy accounting duties for the Base Commander while Charlie worked on Crane Hill. After this tour of duty, the family returned to Virginia in 1969.

Charlie retired from the Navy in 1971, and the family relocated to Casselberry, Florida (and eventually to Lake Mary, Florida). While living in Casselberry, Joan and Charlie brought John Haynes into the family, formally adopting him later. John is one day older than his brothers, Donald and Charlie, so they grew up close. &nbsp;When the family relocated to Lake Mary, Joan performed accounting duties for Charlie’s construction business, where Charlie, Charlie II, and John all worked construction. It was a family venture. She also took a position as an accountant with an insurance agency, Group Insurance Services, for almost 10 years. Joan encouraged her daughter, Nancy, to join her at the agency, which Nancy did and Nancy continues that career today. At some point in her accounting career, Joan decided she would go back to school and get a degree in nursing. She had always had a passion for helping others and she felt led to become a nurse. She attended Seminole Community College and received her first degree and then, ultimately, her RN degree. We were all so proud of her when she graduated. She loved her nursing career and worked at Central Florida Hospital (now HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital) in Sanford, Florida, as an Emergency Room nurse working the night shift, until she relocated back to Hutchinson, Kansas, to care for her elderly parents. Upon returning to Kansas, Joan worked at Hutchinson Hospital as an ER nurse until she retired. They lived in Hutchinson for a short time, then relocated to a 20-acre farm in Nickerson where they had chickens, a large garden, cows and other animals at different points in time. Joan cared for her parents in an apartment attached to her home until the passing of her stepfather, Bill Starr. She continued to care for her mother, Margaret, until Margaret was moved to a nursing home in Hutchinson. Joan and Charlie moved to Abbyville, Kansas, shortly after Joan’s mom moved into the nursing home.

A devout Roman Catholic, Joan was active in church. At Virginia Beach, she saw all three of her surviving children take communion and confirmation at St. James Catholic Church. Most recently, she and Charlie attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in South Hutchinson.

Joan is survived by: her husband of more than 70 years, Donald Roy “Charlie” Brown; daughter, Nancy Lea Brown Carr Harnett; son, John Haynes, twin sons, Donald Roy Brown II and Charles Clinton Brown II and wife Meranda; sister, Gloria Chadwick and husband Hubert; as well as a long list of grandchildren, including, Adam Carr and significant other Dawn Perkins (Florida), Nathan Carr and significant other Jessica Butler (Florida), Amy Haynes and husband Anthony Matukas (Florida), John Haynes II (Florida), Daniel Brown (Florida) Jessie Soliz and husband Ian (Illinois), Tim Maloney (Iowa); great-grandchildren, Hayden Carr, Hayley Carr, Danielle Carr, Cali Carr, Oakley Carr, Elizabeth Jolly, Hailey Jolly, Angela Jolly, Jeremy Jolly, Robert Matukas; and two great-great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She will be sincerely missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Parish Rosary will be 10 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchison.

John is one day older than his brothers, Donald and Charlie, so they grew up close. &nbsp;When the family relocated to Lake Mary, Joan performed accounting duties for Charlie’s construction business, where Charlie, Charlie II, and John all worked construction. It was a family venture. She also took a position as an accountant with an insurance agency, Group Insurance Services, for almost 10 years. Joan encouraged her daughter, Nancy, to join her at the agency, which Nancy did and Nancy continues that career today. At some point in her accounting career, Joan decided she would go back to school and get a degree in nursing. She had always had a passion for helping others and she felt led to become a nurse. She attended Seminole Community College and received her first degree and then, ultimately, her RN degree. We were all so proud of her when she graduated. She loved her nursing career and worked at Central Florida Hospital (now HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital) in Sanford, Florida, as an Emergency Room nurse working the night shift, until she relocated back to Hutchinson, Kansas, to care for her elderly parents. Upon returning to Kansas, Joan worked at Hutchinson Hospital as an ER nurse until she retired. They lived in Hutchinson for a short time, then relocated to a 20-acre farm in Nickerson where they had chickens, a large garden, cows and other animals at different points in time. Joan cared for her parents in an apartment attached to her home until the passing of her stepfather, Bill Starr. She continued to care for her mother, Margaret, until Margaret was moved to a nursing home in Hutchinson. Joan and Charlie moved to Abbyville, Kansas, shortly after Joan’s mom moved into the nursing home.A devout Roman Catholic, Joan was active in church. At Virginia Beach, she saw all three of her surviving children take communion and confirmation at St. James Catholic Church. Most recently, she and Charlie attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in South Hutchinson.Joan is survived by: her husband of more than 70 years, Donald Roy “Charlie” Brown; daughter, Nancy Lea Brown Carr Harnett; son, John Haynes, twin sons, Donald Roy Brown II and Charles Clinton Brown II and wife Meranda; sister, Gloria Chadwick and husband Hubert; as well as a long list of grandchildren, including, Adam Carr and significant other Dawn Perkins (Florida), Nathan Carr and significant other Jessica Butler (Florida), Amy Haynes and husband Anthony Matukas (Florida), John Haynes II (Florida), Daniel Brown (Florida) Jessie Soliz and husband Ian (Illinois), Tim Maloney (Iowa); great-grandchildren, Hayden Carr, Hayley Carr, Danielle Carr, Cali Carr, Oakley Carr, Elizabeth Jolly, Hailey Jolly, Angela Jolly, Jeremy Jolly, Robert Matukas; and two great-great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Ruth Irene (Smith) Spaniol Spivey, 99, died November 21, 2024, just a few months shy of her 100th birthday, at Legend at Council Road, Oklahoma City, OK. &nbsp;She was born March 9, 1925, in South Hutchinson, to Henry E. and Minnie C. (Luginbill) Smith.&nbsp;

Ruth graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1943. &nbsp;She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, working in her immaculate yard, and tending to her flowers. &nbsp; In addition, Ruth was an amazing baker and loved all animals, but had a soft spot for cats. Originally from Hutchinson, she moved to Oklahoma City, to be near her family. &nbsp;Ruth was a member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

Ruth married James Walter “Jimmy” Spaniol May 1946. &nbsp;He died in 1962. &nbsp;On October 15, 1970, she married Leland Earl “Lee” Spivey, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church. &nbsp;He died June 20, 2017, after they shared 46 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Ruth is survived by: &nbsp;sons, Rick Spaniol (life partner, Kim Byrd) of Yukon, OK and Dennis Spaniol (life partner, Barbara Marco) of Verdi, CA; daughter-in-law, Mona Spivey of Oklahoma City, OK; twin-sister, Ruby Jacques of South Hutchinson; grandchildren, Dennis Spaniol II (Kayla), Jimmy Spaniol (Jennifer), Erin Gatlin (Brad), Taylor McGee (Brett), Lillian Werner (Brad), Michael Spivey, Chief Warrant Officer 3, U.S. Army, Ret. (Lauren), and Mitchell Spivey, Senior Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy, (Stacey); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Cruz Apalonia Marquez, 88, of Hutchinson, died November 20, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born May 3, 1936, in Dodge City, to Antonio H. and Lus (Perez) Flores.

Cruz was the first and original cook at Anchor Inn Mexican Restaurant and worked there for over 30 years. She also was an attendant at Econowash Laundromat for over 30 years. Cruz was known by everyone as an avid bingo player and was gifted lottery tickets when she was no longer able to make it to bingo. Her greatest joy in life was her family, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and there was never a shortage of homemade tortillas. Cruz was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

On June 29, 1957, she married Tony L. Marquez, in Hutchinson. They shared 58 years of marriage before his death on August 5, 2015.

Delinda Kay Collmann, 74, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. She was born on March 26, 1950, in Quinter, Kansas, to Michael and Isabelle (Scheck) Stefan.

Delinda was a woman full of life, with a heart brimming with love for her family and passions. She had an unshakable devotion to country and Christian music, with Alan Jackson holding a special place in her heart. Music was her constant companion, and it was a source of comfort and joy in her life. She also loved the thrill of game shows, often participating and sharing her enthusiasm with anyone who would listen.

Above all, Delinda treasured her family. She was the heart and soul of their gatherings, particularly the cherished Sunday family dinners, which were a tradition she held dear. She spent months planning family reunions and get-togethers, always eager to bring everyone together to celebrate love and laughter. Her energy and care in these moments created lasting memories for all who were fortunate enough to attend.

Delinda married the love of her life, Dale Collmann, on September 6, 2008, in Dodge City, Kansas. Their love was further blessed when they remarried in 2010 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hutchinson. Together, they shared 16 wonderful years of marriage, filled with joy, love, and support.

Delinda is survived by: her beloved husband, Dale Boyd Collmann of Hutchinson; daughter, Michelle Linnette Meador (David) of McPherson; granddaughters, Molly Ruth Strickler, Mary Isabelle Strickler (Camen Nordstrom), Melissa Kay McAtee (Jordan), and Courtney Ciara Meador (Anthony Zetrouer Jr.); great-grandchildren, Lilian Isabelle Nordstrom, Matthew Leon Nordstrom, and Joshua James McAtee; siblings, Donna Stefan, Duane Stefan, Delbert Stefan, and Darrell Stefan; along with many nieces and nephews who were all cherished deeply.

Kathryn attended Hutchinson High School and earned her GED. She thoroughly enjoyed reading and anime.

She is survived by: her father, Earl Danley; step-mother, Dawn Navarro; aunt, Carol Drayton; uncles, Casey Danley and John Rysdyk; and five cousins.

Brad H. Galloway, 71, of Partridge, died August 3, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, after battling pancreatic cancer since April, 2023.&nbsp;

He was born October 26, 1952, in Wichita, to Jay H. Galloway and Margie L. (Bradley) Swengel.&nbsp;

Brad graduated from Haven High School in 1972 and attended Eastern New Mexico State on a rodeo scholarship. He owned and operated Galloway Construction and volunteered as a firefighter for Partridge Fire Department (as Chief) and Reno County District 4. Brad enjoyed hunting (especially bow hunting) teaching the grandkids archery, leather tooling, raising, showing and training horses, racing and rodeos. He was a member of Partridge Community Church.&nbsp;

On June 3, 1979, he married Vicki Stiggins, at Partridge Community Church. They shared over 45 years of marriage prior to his death.&nbsp;

Brad is survived by: wife, Vicki Galloway of Partridge; sons, Tyler (Lindsey) Galloway of Nickerson, Wesley (Tish Gaylord) Galloway of Haven; grandchildren, Hunter (Mattyson) Galloway, Talon Lentz, all of Haven, Taylor Galloway, Paisley Galloway and Harper Galloway, all of Nickerson; siblings, Kerrie (Bill) Pruitt of Haven, Lance (Jeni) Galloway of Topeka, Casey (Celia) Galloway of Scottsdale, AZ; aunt Mary Lou Owen of West Palm Beach, Florida and uncle Wilbur and Nancy Bradley of Wichita, cousins and many beloved nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Theodore Lee “Ted” Pankratz, 92, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, died November 17, 2024, in Hester Care Center at Wesley Towers. &nbsp;He was born August 18, 1932, in Van Nuys, CA, to Theodore Roosevelt and Ella Sonora (Unrau) Pankratz.

Ted graduated from Inola High School, Inola, OK, in 1950. &nbsp;After a short time at Bethel College ended by a polio illness he returned home. &nbsp;His love for agriculture and the land was evidenced by the jobs he chose throughout his life. &nbsp;He spent eight years working for John Deere company in the fertilizer division in Pryor, OK which was sold in 1964. Ted then spent time overseeing bulk fertilizer plant construction and a grain terminal in Enid, OK. &nbsp;After managing a large farm and grain elevator in Southeast Kansas, he moved back to Enid to manage the John Deere dealership. &nbsp;While working for the Long Family dealership he bought land and began farming, eventually moving to a full-time farm and livestock operation. &nbsp;Ted was an entrepreneur, evidenced by his last business venture, owning the John Deere dealership in Hutchinson, KS with all the family working together at Pankratz Implement. &nbsp;When he sold it to his son in 1998, he returned to full time farming and harvested his last wheat crop in 2020 at the age of 88. Ted loved to work, to improve his farm and grow his business. &nbsp;When he had free time, it was spent traveling with Marge and friends, collecting antique tools, John Deere memorabilia and grain scales. &nbsp;His commitment was always to care for his family and engage with them in their activities. &nbsp;Despite some health challenges he continued as an avid reader and learner. Ted was truly a steward of not only the land, but of his family. &nbsp;He was a member of Journey Mennonite Church in South Hutchinson.&nbsp;

On November 28, 1952, he married the love of his life, Marjorie Joy “Marge” Springer, in Inola, OK. &nbsp;She was his partner wherever work took them and they raised their family together engaging in church activities and leadership.&nbsp;

Ted is survived by: his wife of almost 72 years, Marge Pankratz; daughter, Linda Barkley (Jim), and Darrell Pankratz (Mary), all of Hutchinson; brothers, Harry Pankratz and Bill Pankratz (Liz), all of Inola, OK; grandchildren, Kyle Ratzlaff (Melisssa), Justin Ratzlaff, Caitlin Peterson (Adam), Reed Pankratz (Annie), and Macki Deck (Dillon); and great-grandchildren, Kade Ratzlaff, Kameron Ratzlaff, Jax Peterson, Brecklyn Peterson, Maci Peterson, Leo Deck, and Millie Deck.

Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Journey Mennonite Church, 808 S. Poplar, South Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;Private family burial will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Ted’s Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at Journey Mennonite Church in South Hutchinson (Journey@South Hutch).

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Mennonite Central Committee or Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS &nbsp;67501.
