Karna Faye Ferguson Schroeder, 89, Retired Medical Professional, died peacefully surrounded by family Saturday March 22, 2025. Karna was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, neighbor and friend. Music was always a large part of her life since her childhood, as she played multiple instruments and had a beautiful voice. She loved laughing with her family, offered sharp wit, provided wisdom and guidance as her family matured, and was always a friend to those friends of her family. She was open to new experiences, enjoyed learning throughout her life, and traveled to exciting destinations including Bangkok and Europe. She remained very social and active throughout her life, and so valued being with others and enjoying life.

Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30pm Friday March 28, 2025 at Downing &amp; Lahey East Mortuary 6555 E. Central, Wichita, KS 67206. A private graveside service in Kechi will be held Saturday March 29, 2025 followed by a public memorial service and light lunch at 11:00am at Grace Presbyterian Church, 5002 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS 67208.

Karna is preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Arlah Ferguson, husband Merlin, stepmother Evelyn, and stepson Thomas Schroeder.

Sherry Dee (Chidester) Bock was born October 3, 1935, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Arthur D. and Edna I. (Wickendoll) Chidester. She left this earthly life to enter heaven's gates on March 18,2025, at Parkview Care Center, Osborne, KS, following a short illness.

Sherry grew up in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High in 1953. She was united in marriage to William E "Bill" Bock, November 6,1953, in Downs, KS. To this union were born five children: Richard Wayne (Dick), Robert Allan (Tad), Sandra Jeane, Laura Susan and Rhonda Lynne.

While visiting friends around the Downs, KS area in her early teenage years, she met a man at the Downs Celebration named "Bill" Bock. They had a few dates and stayed in touch. When he entered the military, they kept in touch by letter. In December 1952, she received a diamond. Bill was discharged from the Marines in September 1953, and they were wed in November that same year.

After their wedding in Downs, KS, they moved in with his recently widowed aunt, Carol Bock…. later moving to the "little house" on that farmstead. In 1959, expecting their 5th child, they moved north to the "rock house" where they resided until 2014, when they purchased a home at 1 Circle Drive, in Downs. (Met in Downs, married in Downs, retired to Downs)

Sherry helped make a home for their 5 children, and also, helped Bill with the farming. She was a member of and attended Oak Creek Christian Church, playing the piano, teaching Sunday School, growing in her faith, and striving to encourage others.

Sherry had a God-given talent as a pianist. Self-taught and playing by ear, she accompanied many singers through the years. She felt the accompanist should enhance a singer's talent, not overshadow it and she did that very well. She also just played for herself. (Her family would say playing the piano was her "therapy"). There were several years that Bill would wake up in the night right before Easter, to Sherry playing excerpts from Handel's "Messiah"!

Sherry sang in a trio with Dorothy Jennings and Betty Jo Banks; played for high school aged singing groups directed by Betty Jo (The Highlighters and Challengers), who sang at various churches around; played at many funerals/weddings and accompaniment for many singers for funerals/weddings. She filled in a few times as Activity Director at MidAmerica nursing home in Downs and played for many sing-a-longs through the years at MidAmerica as well as Parkview Care Center. On the home front, she made sure that Bill had good food to eat (and he did like to eat her cooking!). She was secretary for the Smith County Hospice working with Deb Evangelidis in its early years. She loved to help people, whether by sending flowers, writing a bit of poetry or a hand-written note, or helping care for them…some, in their final days. Although she would not take credit…. she WAS a CARE-giver. She was also a good listener and did what she could to further the kingdom of God.

She did not talk much about herself and preferred to stay in the background. Bill was her "joy" on this earth. Now she is reunited with him and in heaven, face to face with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be missed by many…. more than she would ever have thought.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; daughter, Sandra Blankenbaker; grandsons, Andrew Bock &amp; Joshua Simmelink; her parents; mother &amp; father-in-law, Vera &amp; Neil Bock; sister &amp; husband, Marilyn &amp; Willis Rousey; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eula &amp; Wayne Merrill Thompson, Lloyd &amp; LaVerne Bock; brother-in-law, Raymond Griffith.

Those she has left behind are, sons, Richard (Linda) Bock of Lebanon, Robert (Terri) Bock of Ellsworth; and daughters, Laura (Vernon) Ray of Salina and Rhonda (Roy) Atwood of Esbon; 11 grandchildren, Erica, Crystal, Jessica, Jason, Mary, Carissa, Jordan, Evan, Lane, Michaela, and Jeremy; 17 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Whitley, Elijah, Jaxon, Miyah, Violet, Izayah, Levi, Ava, Eva, Beau and Briggs, Weston, Kamryn, Luka, Kooper and Emma; 3 great-great grandchildren, Jackson, Samuel and Bailee; sister-in-law, Ruth Griffith of Phillipsburg and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Forrest Holliday of Havensville as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS, with Pastor Dave Hardy officiating. Robert A. “Bob” Goertz, 78, of Hutchinson, died March 22, 2025, at Agape Home Plus in Wichita. He was born July 30, 1946, in Hillsboro, to Rudolph “Rudy” S. and Rita A. (Detmer) Goertz.

Bob graduated from Zenda High School in 1964 and received his Master Mechanic diploma from Denver Automotive Institute in 1965. He was the president and owner of Bob Goertz Auto from 1990-2023. On November 13, 1965, he married Jeannine K. Zink, in Stockton. They shared 59 years of marriage.

Bob is survived by: his wife, Jeannine of Hutchinson; children, Renee Gates (Randall) of Manhattan, Jim Goertz (Tammy), Darren Goertz (Aubrey), Chris Goertz, Jason Goertz (Kelsie Gormely), all of Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald Goertz (Carolyn) of Wichita, Barbara Swingle (Kenny) of Zenda, Jane Goetz (Steve) of Hutchinson, Doris Josephson (Jeff) of Olathe, Paul Goertz (Jan) of Pratt, Loretta Kerschen (Pat) of Harper, Susie Chambers (Jeff) of Lindsborg, Rosalie Blosser (Terry) of Newton, Joe Goertz (Debbie) of Hutchinson; aunt, Mary Lou Osner of Pratt; uncle, Lonnie Detmer (Trevlyn) of Pratt; and many extended family members.

Cameron Paul Epp, 6, of Turon, passed into the arms of Jesus, on March 20, 2025.  He was born February 16, 2019, in Pratt, to Brian Leon and Cayla Arlene (Cranmer) Epp.

Cameron was a curious and energetic kindergartener at Fairfield Elementary School. He enjoyed playing Roblox and video games, singing, and dancing.  Cameron had a soft spot for helping and loving animals and anyone in pain.  He loved playing with his sister and brothers, helping his father, and spending time with his mother.  Cameron was a mixture of pure sweetness and curiosity, and his smile could light up a room.  He touched many lives in his short 6 years.

Cameron is survived by:  his parents, Brian and Cayla Epp of Turon; sister, Taylor Isabel Epp of Turon; brothers, Keagan Epp of Dodge City and Leeland Davidson Epp of Arlington; grandmothers, Cynthia Reyes (Kenny) of Sylvia and Christie Arlene Cranmer of Hutchinson; grandfather, Kerry Anderson of Wichita; uncles and aunts, Bradley Epp (Stefanie) of Sylvia, Autumn Gray (Ethan) of Sterling, Breezy McBee (Andrew) of Tonopah, AZ, and Steven Richards of Hutchinson; and numerous cousins and extended family members who loved Cameron.

Cameron P. Epp | 2019 - 2025 | 

Glenn L. Miller, 78, of Hutchinson, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 9, 1947, in Hutchinson, and was the son of Ervin and Mary (Nisly) Miller.

On March 8, 1969, he married Anna Troyer in Millersburg, OH. They loved each other for 57 years and shared 56 beautiful years of marriage together.

Glenn and Anna started Glenn’s Bulk Food Shoppe and purchased The Gospel Bookstore in Pleasantview. An innovative problem solver, Glenn enjoyed serving people practically with his mechanic skills. He sought Christ and to continually grow in his faith. His life was marked by prayer for family, missionaries, and countless others. He loved reading Scripture and spent hours singing and learning new hymns.

Glenn is survived by: his beloved wife, Anna Miller, Hutchinson; four sons, Wes (Denise) Miller and Ellis (Lynita) Miller of Hutchinson; John Allan (Tina) Miller of Redding, CA; Matthias (Bonita) Miller of Canon City, CO; three daughters, Regina (Misael) Aguilar of El Salvador; Linda (Michael) Walker of Wichita; Christina (Mark) Yoder of Hutchinson; 35 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by siblings Alma Miller, Harold Dean (Ruth) Miller, LaVerne (Rebecca) Miller, Marvin (Ruth) Miller, Loren (Dolores) Miller, and Lillian (Arthur) Nisly. 

He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Julia Ruth Miller; siblings, Paul and Pauline Miller; and brother-in-law, Edward Miller.

He was born March 9, 1947, in Hutchinson, and was the son of Ervin and Mary (Nisly) Miller.On March 8, 1969, he married Anna Troyer in Millersburg, OH. They loved each other for 57 years and shared 56 beautiful years of marriage together.Glenn and Anna started Glenn’s Bulk Food Shoppe and purchased The Gospel Bookstore in Pleasantview. An innovative problem solver, Glenn enjoyed serving people practically with his mechanic skills. He sought Christ and to continually grow in his faith. His life was marked by prayer for family, missionaries, and countless others. He loved reading Scripture and spent hours singing and learning new hymns.Glenn is survived by: his beloved wife, Anna Miller, Hutchinson; four sons, Wes (Denise) Miller and Ellis (Lynita) Miller of Hutchinson; John Allan (Tina) Miller of Redding, CA; Matthias (Bonita) Miller of Canon City, CO; three daughters, Regina (Misael) Aguilar of El Salvador; Linda (Michael) Walker of Wichita; Christina (Mark) Yoder of Hutchinson; 35 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Clinton Bernard Brewer, 76, died March 18, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born October 13, 1948, in Hutchinson, to Jack and Frances (Bergen) Brewer.

Clinton was a dedicated craftsman whose varied careers spanned multiple fields. He worked as a surveyor for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, a builder, and later retired from Hutchinson Hospital’s maintenance department. A passionate athlete, he was an avid softball player and found great joy in fishing, hunting, and dancing. Clinton was a devoted sports fan, cheering for KU basketball, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas City Royals, and the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons. He was a proud member of the Hutchinson Moose Lodge #982 and a man of faith, attending Eastwood Church of Christ before becoming a member of First Christian Church in Hutchinson.

On February 21, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Verla Marie Elliott, in Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Clinton is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of over 57 years, Verla of Hutchinson; daughters, Carrie Brewer of Salina and Penny Bettles of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Mike Bettles of Salina; grandchildren, Rachel Storm, Mason Bettles, Bryson Bettles, and Jaxson Bettles; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Storm; and sister-in-law, Anita Brewer, all of Salina.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his daughter, Jennefer Brewer; mother, Frances Gould; stepfather, Earl Gould; brother, Jack Brewer Jr.; sister, Linda Briner; and mother-in-law, Verne Harsh.

Roy Norman Rusk, 94 of Hutchinson Kansas died March 20, 2025, at Hospice House of Hutchinson. Born August 20, 1930, in Middletown Ohio, he was the son of Cash and Katherine (Kate) Garrett Rusk.

On November 2, 1951, Roy married Mary Frances Cramer at Camp Stewart Georgia while serving in the United States Army. (1951-1953) They were married 63 years until her death in 2015. He worked for Western &amp; Southern Life insurance Company for 30 years then was Executive Director of South Hutchinson Public Housing. Roy was a member of First Congregational Church and American Legion Post 68. He also worked for several years at the Kansas State Fair as Ticket Supervisor. A Die-Hard Chicago Cubs Fan and Purdue Boilermakers fan enjoyed watching sports.

Survivors include daughter, Kay Beth (Edwin) Woods; son, John Allen (Kathy) Rusk, both of Hutchinson; sister, Mary Jo Livengood of Lafayette, Indiana; sister-in-law, Donna Cunningham of Mellott, Indiana; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Decker of Lake Woods Ranch, Florida, Corrie (Bob) Morrison of Hico, Texas, Jennifer (Jeremmy) Hoard of Hutchinson, Christy (Keith) Gable of Hutchinson and Steven Garrett (Jenni) Rusk of Olathe Kansas and 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, five brothers Cash Jr., William, Richard, Thomas, David and sister Patricia.

Damien Aaron Gomez passed away on March 16th, 2025, at the age of 47 years old in his residence in Hutchinson, KS. Damien was a beloved brother, husband, father, new grandpa, best uncle, nephew, and best friend.

Damien never lived for the future, he was unique and rare in that he only lived in the present.

With his adventurous spirit, he enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sports fan, especially of his Kansas City Royals and Dallas Cowboys. In His spare time, Damien loved playing chess and listening to all his favorite music with family and friends. He was compassionate, understanding, extremely loving, and funny, and known as our gentle giant.

Born October 9, 1977, in Hutchinson, KS, he is survived by wife, Charlee Gomez; daughters, Amara, Amerika, and Ireland; granddaughter, Zay’Ari; his sister (sissy), Felecia Gomez-(John) Mixon; nieces, Dominique and Tareia (Dre) Carter; nephews, Jarin, Koltin, Brayden and Kaidence; uncle, Gary (Patty) Gomez, and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregory and Dalyne Gome; his brother, Sean Gomez, and his grandparents.

As we say goodbye, we are comforted by knowing that Damien's compassion will live on through us. The lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories we cherish will continue to shape our lives. He taught us the importance of family, laughter, and not taking life too seriously. Thank you for showing us how to find humor and joy in all situations. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ruby L. "Mimi" Chronister, 86, of Hutchinson, died on March 18, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born June 5, 1938, in Hoxie, Kansas, to Rueben and Alice (Lewis) Stapleton.&nbsp;

On July 2, 1955, she married William D. Chronister in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 51 beautiful years together before his death on April 25, 2007.&nbsp;

Ruby was a doting homemaker for her daughters and grandchildren. She was a selfless person who always put her family first. Ruby loved to read books of any genre and when reading became difficult due to her failing eyesight she turned to audio books. Ruby also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and card games such as Skip-Bo and Phase 10. She loved flowers, gardens, and enjoyed a good garage sale, always searching for the best deal! Even though Ruby did not like to cook, she was great at it. &nbsp;

Ruby is survived by: daughter, Christine (Bill) Hoffman; grandchildren, Beth (David) Edwards, Erin (Charles) Wheeler, Rick Vollnogel (Megan Kennard), all of Hutchinson, Julie Vollnogel (Aaron Dennett) of McPherson, Andrew Vollnogel of Salina, John Vollnogel of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Grace Edwards, Jackson Edwards, JoLea Wheeler (Jared Sherwin), Vincent Wheeler, Rhiannon Call, Meadow Vollnogel, and Oliver Vollnogel; and brother, Robert E. Stapleton of Hutchinson.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: husband, William Chronister; daughter, Susie Vollnogel; great-grandson, Andrew Vollnogel Jr.; six brothers; and two sisters.

Joe was a vivacious man, full of life and love, who was always eager to embrace life’s adventures. He loved to be in the great outdoors. Joe took pleasure in working outside and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed boating, jet skiing, and lake life. Joe had an adventurous spirit and loved to spend time traveling with his family. He was also a very avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and never missed a game.&nbsp;

Robert W. “Bob” Jellison, 93, died March 18, 2025 at Pittsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center, Pittsburg. He was born on September 19, 1931, in Glendale, KS, to Guy William and Josephine Amelia (Radke) Jellison.

Bob graduated from Garnett High School in 1949. He worked at a Gas Pipeline Serviceman for Williams Pipeline. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was a scoutmaster for 22 years. He was a member at First Christian Church, Lyons.

On March 30, 1950, Bob married Barbara Lou Nichols, in Welda, KS. They shared over 73 years of marriage, prior to her death on July 7, 2023.

Bob is survived by: his children, Dale (Tomi) Jellison of Hutchinson, Donald (fiancée Nelda Slider) Jellison of Skiatook, OK, Phyllis Webb of Memphis, TN; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Jellison of Mansfield, WA; and sister-in-law, Joyce Jellison of Arleta, CA.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; and two siblings.

In respect of Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Family burial will be held at a later date in Welda Cemetery.

Bob loved landscaping and made that part of his career in Parks and Recreation. He also enjoyed anything Harley Davidson and had daily jam sessions with his record player.

Bob retired in 2019 and moved to South Carolina where he became a full-time grandpa and lived every moment for his granddaughter who was the joy of his life.

Bob is survived by his better half, Virginia Nancy Otieno; son, Jonas K. Jones; daughter, Candace M. Valadez and her husband, Kris Jr.; and his cherished granddaughter, Olivia, Jayne Valadez. He is also survived by his two sisters, Terri Main and Judy Vanlandingham and their spouses.

Bob carried much wisdom and advice. He enjoyed sharing his life by helping provide lessons and guidance to those he cared for deeply. His laughter and heart will be truly missed.

On July 4, 1952, she married Steve Bucko in Pittsburgh, PA. They shared nearly 63 of marriage before his death on August 9, 2015.&nbsp;

DeMaris happily worked in the clothing department at Dillon’s Marketplace until she retired at the age of 88. She enjoyed reading and bargain shopping for sale items. DeMaris was a very social person and loved to meet new people and hear their stories.

DeMaris is survived by: children, Sharon Quigley and Steve Bucko Jr., both of Hutchinson; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Steve Bucko Sr.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held.&nbsp;

On March 13, 2025, Carole Ann Shultz (Brown), of Hutchinson, “a child of the dirty thirties”, joined hands with Delbert and went home to the Lord.&nbsp;

Born May 16, 1935, at Grace Hospital, Hutchinson, to Leo William and Lillian Gladys (Gookins) Brown. The family moved from Grinnell, KS to Hutchinson in 1940. Carole attended Mitchell (District #2) Grade School and was a 1953 graduate of Reno Community High School (Nickerson High School), Nickerson.

She was lifetime member of Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church, Rural Hutchinson, joining at 12 years of age. Carole was member of Home Builders Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. She served on several committees and was a church greeter and usher.

On May 16, 1954, she married Delbert Lyle Shultz, at Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church. They shared nearly 63 years of marriage, prior to his death on March 16, 2017.

A stay-at-home mom, Carole and Delbert raised three children: Kay, Randy, and Lorna. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and cooking Sunday family dinners.

Carole volunteered to set up a formal office at Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was employed as secretary and pastor’s assistant for seven years. She also volunteered at the Kansas State Fair as a leader for 4-H, assisting in 4-H demonstrations, for many years.

Carole is survived by: her children, Kay Shultz, Randy (Lynn) Shultz, Lorna Wood, all of Hutchinson; bonus-daughter, Yvonne Pickerill of Gardner; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and sister in-laws, Sandy Shultz of Nickerson and Diane Parsons of Pratt.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Delbert; great-grandson, Gabriel Marshall; and three siblings.&nbsp;

Mark Depperschmidt, 72, passed away February 28, 2025, at his farm home in Langdon, Kansas.

He was born October 8, 1952, to Alfred and Viola (Herrman) Depperschmidt in La Crosse, Kansas. He graduated from La Crosse High School, La Crosse, Kansas, in 1971. After graduation he attended Barton County Community College, Great Bend, Kansas. He had a lengthy career of various jobs including work at Fisher Transmission, contract painter, welder, oil pumper, and finally plastic worker and machinist in McPherson, Kansas.

The past 20 years he has enjoyed his dream of being a farmer. He was an avid reader on many different topics. When he wasn't busy with his cattle and two dogs he enjoyed going to farm auctions He always made deeper connections with animals than he did with people. He had a small circle of friends that he visited on a regular basis just to “chew the fat”.

Survivors include four brothers, James (Theresa), Sylvia, Kansas, Neil, Liberal, Kansas, Melvin, Topeka, Kansas, and Paul, Liebenthal, Kansas; two sisters, Cheryl Resner (Gerald) Great Bend, Kansas, and Ruth Schaffer Arvada, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John; and one brother in law.

Victor W. Cross, 81, in the presence of the Lord and family, passed away on March 16, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 28, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, to Richard and Lucy Cross.

Victor graduated from Hutchinson High School and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country faithfully, with much of his time spent in Germany. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Janice Schiewe, and after just three months of knowing each other, they married on December 7, 1968. They recently celebrated their 56th anniversary with a trip to the Caribbean.

A stranger to no one and a friend to everyone, Victor had a gift for conversation and loved meeting new people. One of his greatest joys was sharing stories about his children and grandchildren. Known affectionately as the “Candy Man,” he always had candy in his pocket, a simple yet meaningful way to break the ice and start a conversation. An avid golfer, Victor cherished his time on the course, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and sharing stories along the way.

Victor was a devoted member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, where he served in various roles over the years. As his children were growing up, he eagerly sponsored and chaperoned youth group trips, always bringing laughter and joy while sharing God’s love in his own unique way. In his later years, he found purpose in visiting shut-ins, bringing companionship and comfort to those unable to leave their homes. Even during his recent health struggles, he remained concerned for those he visited and longed to return to his ministry.

Victor was proud of his military service and was often seen wearing his Army Veteran hat. He also proudly wore his Kansas Honor Flight hat, which he received during his 2021 trip to Washington, D.C., where he joined fellow veterans in touring the nation’s capital.

Victor is survived by his beloved wife, Janice; children, Marcy Cross (Stacy) of Wichita, Mark Cross (Suzanne) of Wichita, and Monte Cross (Michelle) of Buhler; grandchildren, Ansley, McKinley, Riley, Mallory, Molly, and Mitchel; great-grandchild, Ryeder; brother Robert Cross Sr of Hutchinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Raymond, Jack, Richard; sisters Helen and Maudee.

Victor had a deep love for travel, especially to the Caribbean, and he wished for his funeral to be a joyous celebration of his life. He requested that those attending wear flowered or brightly colored shirts in his honor.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Henry Blickhahn officiating. Burial will follow with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard, at the Buhler East Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

He was born on December 28, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, to Richard and Lucy Cross.Victor graduated from Hutchinson High School and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country faithfully, with much of his time spent in Germany. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Janice Schiewe, and after just three months of knowing each other, they married on December 7, 1968. They recently celebrated their 56th anniversary with a trip to the Caribbean.A stranger to no one and a friend to everyone, Victor had a gift for conversation and loved meeting new people. One of his greatest joys was sharing stories about his children and grandchildren. Known affectionately as the “Candy Man,” he always had candy in his pocket, a simple yet meaningful way to break the ice and start a conversation. Johnny Joe “John” Pollock, 50, of Inman, died Friday, March 14, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, with his family by his side. He was born April 24, 1974, in Hutchinson, to Homer Wayne “Skip” and Mary Jo (Watkins) Pollock.

John graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1992, and received his bachelor’s degree from KU in 1996. &nbsp;He was inquisitive and enjoyed the challenge of learning new trades. As an entrepreneur, John owned and managed health clubs, including Bodies in Motion and then Body and Soul, Caribbean Tan, and Academy Martial Arts/Lil Dragons. (He even held a black belt in karate). &nbsp; In addition, John was a business and leadership consultant for John Maxwell Certified Consulting and Director of Operations for A.W.E. Inc.&nbsp;

John’s hobbies and interests were just as diversified as his jobs as he enjoyed motorcycles, gun collecting, fishing, and reading. &nbsp;In addition, photography, working on house renovations, cooking for his family and friends and anything to do with horticulture were just a few of his other interests. &nbsp;If John did not know how to do something, he would research it on the computer. &nbsp;Despite his health challenges over the past 17 years, John strived to be there for his family and friends. &nbsp;He was an amazing father and supportive husband.

On February 2, 2003, he married Alisha Leigh Delehoy, in Gatlinburg, TN.&nbsp;

John is survived by: &nbsp;his wife and best friend, Alisha of Inman; children, Kayleigh Pollock of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Tamra Pollock of Scottsdale, AZ, Grace Pollock-Gomez (Daven) of Winfield, Noah Pollock (Brisa) of Hutchinson, and Paige Pollock of Inman; grandchildren, Daven “Junior” Gomez, Leo Gomez, Lola Gomez, Soul “John Junior” Gomez, and another grandchild on the way; mother, Mary Jo Swenson (Paul) of Inman; father, Homer “Skip” Pollock (Oma) of Oklahoma; and a brother, Scott Wayne Pollock of Iola.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Robert E. “Bob” Queen, 84, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS. Bob was born August 19, 1940, in Sylvia, KS, the son of Floyd and Helen Queen.

On November 11, 1989, Bob married Beverly G. Wood in Park City, KS. He worked for S &amp; C Transport for many years as a truck driver. He was also the sole owner of Liberty Lounge in Hutchinson. Bob enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends at Cottonwood Lake fishing and enjoyed all different types of cars.

Bob is proceeded in death by his parents; and brothers, Cary P. Queen, Bud Queen, Jerry L. Queen and Bradley Queen.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Stephanie R. Queen; stepdaughter, Mandy Julin; stepson, Reid Julin brother, Glenn Queen; step grandchildren, Van Jr. and Ava; several nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Sharon Queen.

Heidi (Burkert) Crumble, 77, of Hutchinson, Kansas, went from labor to reward on March 12, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. Heidi was born on July 30, 1947, in Viernheim Hessen, Germany, she was the daughter of George Harris Sr. and Marianne (Burkert) Harris.

One of Heidi’s great accomplishments was receiving her American citizenship on October 27th, 1977. Heidi retired from Rainbow bakery as a bread foreman. She was a devoted and loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother (Oma), great grandmother (Big Oma) and friend. Heidi was one of a kind, never knowing a stranger, everyone knew her as “Mom” or “Oma.”

Heidi accepted the Lord as her savior. She stood on her faith and loved the Lord. She was a member of New Resurrection Church where she loved testifying about God’s Grace and Mercy. She felt the power of God’s Mercy and would say “I got Cancer, Cancer don’t got me and God got me!” Heidi sang in the choir, where she would solo “Ride out your storm”. She loved to praise and worship. Throughout Heidi's life she always attended church to include Ward Chapel AME, Junction City, KS, Second Baptist Church, Bethel AME Church, Macedonia MBC, Hutchinson, KS.

Heidi loved to go to the Family Bingo where she supported her Broncos gear in lieu of that red and yellow stuff. She loved to travel with her group of friends (The Golden Girl) making lasting memories and frequent stops along the way at the casinos. Heidi and The Golden Girls traveled to Albuquerque, NM; Tulsa, OK; Little Rock, AK; Memphis, TN; Kansas City; Houston and Galveston TX just to name a few. Heidi was known for not being afraid to get on the dance floor and shaking a leg. Heidi enjoyed reading, camping, crocheting and knitting. She would watch videos to learn new patterns. She loved to bring a touch of Germany to the plates of her family with German dishes. She was known for her German Cheesecake, and Rouladen. Throughout her life she lived in Colorado Springs, CO, and Junction City, KS before calling Hutchinson her home. With all the things she loved, her first love was her family. Heidi cherished her family and would stand up for them right or wrong (she had your back!!!). Heidi loved life and she would tell it like it was, she did not bite her tongue.

Francis ‘Sonny’ William Severin, 86, died March 15, 2025, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. He was born September 14, 1938, in Huntington Park, California, to Frank J. and Orlean (Norris) Severin.

Francis graduated Hutchinson High School in 1956, then attended Hutchinson Community College, earning his associates degree. He worked as a lab technician for Morton Salt, Hutchinson for many years, eventually retiring in September 2000.

He was a member of the HCC Quarterback club and HCC Alumni in which he organized the Alumni football game for 20 years. &nbsp;He was an active member in the Knight of Columbus #612 council. &nbsp;He helped start the Knights Pizza stand at the fair, a long-standing major fundraiser event for the council. He and Jolene were avid sports fans. They attended many HCC games, watching sports on TV and going to the sports events for their grandchildren. &nbsp;After retirement they enjoyed traveling with friends and on bus tours. He always had a ball cap for every occasion due to his large collection.

They shared over 65 years of marriage.Francis is survived by: his wife, Jolene Severin; children, Karla Severin and Tom (Rhonda) Severin; grandchildren, Kyle Severin and Kristi Austin; and great-grandchildren, Liam and Nicole Austin.He was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Sheryl Severin; sister, Kathy and her husband Bill Bearden.Parish rosary will be 10 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025, both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Rd, Hutchinson, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary.
