Donald “Donnie” Orson Rawlins, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. 

He was born on May 5, 1944, in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. Donnie spent his childhood in Canada but had an adventurous soul and attended college in California and Arizona. Though he loved the Arizona desert, he decided to return home to Ontario to continue his education. Upon returning, he met the love of his life, Laura Jeanne Arthur, and they wed 6 months later, on December 10th , 1966. In 1968, they had a daughter, Tana, and in 1977 he went west once more, this time with his family, to make Arizona their permanent home.

Donnie had numerous careers which included owning a construction company, printing business, commercial HVAC business, and a vinyl sign company. He was truly a jack of all&nbsp;trades, and he mastered them all. He could fix or build anything from the ground up, whether it was a home, car, motorcycle, you name it. But what he will be known for best, is the loving and devoted caregiver he was to his wife Jeanne after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2012, until her death in 2018.

He was passionate about Harley Davidsons, cars, and music. Donnie’s favorite piano music to play was ragtime. He would also play the guitar and harmonica to entertain his family and was&nbsp;almost always whistling. The home was filled with music and he and Jeanne could be found dancing around the living room to songs from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. He built numerous custom Harleys for Jeanne and himself. They loved to ride and had a large group of lifelong biking friends. He loved Jesus and was a member of Faith Bible Church in Glendale, Arizona for many&nbsp;years. In 2022, he moved to Kansas to be closer to his daughter and grandson. There he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and going out to dinner, mostly Olive Garden – his favorite, and any place that served good chicken wings. He was a people person and loved by everyone he met.

He is survived by his daughter, Tana Prideaux and George of Sterling, KS, and his grandson, Michael Rawlins “Rawley” Dinges of Sterling, KS.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jeanne, his parents, Edna &amp; Don Rawlins,&nbsp;Sr., his 2 sisters, Catherine and Gilberta, and his son-in-law, Michael Francis Dinges.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will take place in Arizona at a later date.

Marie Martens Regehr, 98, passed away October 11, 2024 at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born February 22, 1926, to Henry B. and Lizzie Friesen Martens. She grew up on a farm Southeast of Inman with her sister and brothers speaking Low German until she started school.

She graduated from Inman High School in 1944.&nbsp;

Marie was a lifetime member of Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. She was baptized by Rev. A.J. Dyck on May 24, 1942. She taught children Sunday School and Wednesday evening class.

She served on different Committees for the Happy Hour Sewing Circle. Attending church was very important to her and in the last year when she was no longer able to attend church, she would faithfully watch the live stream on her computer.

Marie married Virgil Regehr on October 20, 1946. He passed away November 26, 2013.

Together they raised four children. Marie retired from Eddie’s Bake-N-Serve dough factory after years of employment. After retirement, she worked parttime in the Housekeeping Department at Pleasant View Home until she was 85.&nbsp;

During their retirement years, Marie and Virgil started Heritage Tours planning many bus tours working as a team. Marie had files of devotions, stories, poems, songs and games she led on the bus. This was an enjoyable time for her making hundreds of new friends. Between trips, she volunteered at Hutch Etcetera Shop and served 3 months at MCC Material Resource Center, Akron, PA.

Marie loved her family immensely. She was a prayer warrior and prayed for each one every day.

She supported her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities. She stayed in contact with family through Facebook until the end enjoying pictures, sending birthday greetings and thanks for visits. She enjoyed playing games with friends and family and often had candy in her purse for great grandchildren. Everyone loved her zwieback especially with her homemade strawberry jam! She was a compassionate, giving, and kind person relying on her faith throughout her life especially the last year. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be sorely missed.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; sister Hilda Froese; brothers Elmer, Nick, Wilbur and John Martens; brother-in-law Lewis Schroder; son-in-law Jim Reeves; and great grandsons Nicholas Parsons and Enoch Milam. She is survived by her children: Galen (Pam) Regehr, McPherson; Gary (Joanne) Regehr, Goddard; Barb Reeves, Buhler; and Betty (Lowell) Schrag, Buhler; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; and 7 step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret E. Peggy Livingston, 76, passed away October 10, 2024, at home. &nbsp;She was born November 20, 1947, to George and Margaret Homan Reddy in Las Vegas, NM.

Peggy graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1965. She met her future husband Mike while attending Emporia State University. &nbsp;They were married August 17, 1968. &nbsp;They celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Peggy and Mike have lived in Hutchinson since January 1972. &nbsp;She was an interior designer and a long-time member of the Hutchinson Theatre Guild where she appeared in many productions both on stage and working behind the scenes.

She was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church.

Peggy is survived by: her husband; brother, Mike (Kathy) Reddy; brother-in-law, Pat (Cindy) Livingston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her sister, Joanne Wurtz and brother, Bob Reddy.

Earlene Kay Canfield, 82, passed away on October 9, 2024, in Hutchinson, KS. She was bornv November 12, 1941, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Earl and Juanita Barnes.

Earlene was a lifelong resident of Hutchinson. She held various positions of employment throughout the years. She was employed most recently by The Sundome Hotel. She worked at&nbsp;Alco, Doskocil and for the public schools in the food service department. Earlene attended Hutchinson Public Schools and Adela Hale Business School. In April 1964, she married Larry Dove, they later divorced. On November 22, 1967, she married William R. Canfield. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Robyn McInturff and Sharon Kelley; sons, David Dove and Wade&nbsp;Canfield. Her legacy also includes 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Earlene is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Barnes; stepson, William E. Canfield and her granddaughter, Chrystal Hinton.

Visitation will be Monday, October 14, 2024, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am at First United Methodist Church, 101 E. 1 st Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Funeral service will start at 10:30, after the visitation.

Bradley J. “Brad” Hill, 71, died October 9, 2024, at Enterprise Estates Nursing Home, Enterprise, KS. He was born July 15, 1953, in Hutchinson, to Jay H. and Erma M. (Hemphill) Hill.

Brad graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1971, Hutchinson Community Junior College in 1973, with an associate’s degree in science, and Wichita State University in 2003 with a Master of Physician Associate (MPA) degree. He worked as a police officer in Hutchinson and Garden City in the 1970’s and 1980’s, an undersheriff in Elkhart in the 1990’s. He was a physician assistant, from 2003 to 2011 in Pratt, Wichita, and Hutchinson. Brad enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to country music concerts. He was an avid sports fan of KU, K-State, Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Brad liked Westerns and was fond of Wyatt Earp. He loved to spend time with his children and attending their sporting events.&nbsp;

Brad married Joni Razo at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, in 1981, and shared over 18 years of marriage.

Brad is survived by: children, Lance (Julie) Hill of Crystal Lake, IL, Lindsay Hill, Skylar (fiancée, Brooke Davis) Hill, all of Hutchinson; granddaughters, Felicity and Adalyn Hill of Crystal Lake, IL; siblings, Craig (Mark Summers) Hill of Fort Wayne, IN, Richard (Nelly) Hill of Brock, TX, and Janice (Tim) Stangel of Concordia.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2024, in the Valley Township Cemetery, E. Longview Rd., Burrton, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Bradley J. “Brad” Hill |1953-2024|

Hutchinson, Kansas, mourns the loss of a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, Mark Allan Klug, who passed peacefully at the Hospice House in Hutchinson on September 30, 2024. Born on November 22, 1954, in Hutchinson, Mark was the cherished son of Albert and Juanita Klug, whose love and values shaped him into the remarkable man he became.

Mark was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dustin Klug, and step-son Levi Pedigo, their&nbsp;memories he held dear every day of his life. He is survived by his loving children, Shane and Jenny Klug, Shawn and Amber Klug, Sarah and James Biggs, and his daughter-in-law, Delilah Klug, step-son Luke Pedigo, and step-daughter Taylor and Phillip Rivera. His legacy lives on in his 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, who brought him boundless joy, and his numerous nieces and nephews, who will forever fondly remember “Uncle Mark.” He is also survived by his devoted sister, Sherry Kilpatrick, and his brother, Aaron and Barb Klug.

A man of humble beginnings, Mark earned his GED and carved out a fulfilling career for himself. He spent many dedicated years as a maintenance man at Consolidated Manufacturing, before moving on to a long-lasting tenure at Tyson's, where he retired in 2020. Post-retirement, Mark cherished his time engaging in his favorite hobbies—riding his Harley, sharing stories during “Thirsty Thursdays,” and surrounding himself with friends and family. A passionate collector of guns and a fan of good music, Mark rarely went without a Budweiser in hand and a smile on his face.

Mark was a man with a caring heart, whose infectious smile and warm hugs were cherished by all who knew him. He had a unique fondness for the color yellow, which seemed to reflect his sunny disposition and outlook on life.

A graveside burial will be held at the Fairlawn Burial Park on October 26, 2024, at 10:00 AM&nbsp;following a celebration of Mark's life at the VFW from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Mark Allan Klug touched many lives with his open heart and generous spirit. Though he will be greatly missed, his memory will continue to inspire warmth and kindness in those who carry his legacy forward.

Born on November 22, 1954, in Hutchinson, Mark was the cherished son of Albert and Juanita Klug, whose love and values shaped him into the remarkable man he became.Mark was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dustin Klug, and step-son Levi Pedigo, their&nbsp;memories he held dear every day of his life. He is survived by his loving children, Shane and Jenny Klug, Shawn and Amber Klug, Sarah and James Biggs, and his daughter-in-law, Delilah Klug, step-son Luke Pedigo, and step-daughter Taylor and Phillip Rivera. His legacy lives on in his 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, who brought him boundless joy, and his numerous nieces and nephews, who will forever fondly remember “Uncle Mark.” He is also survived by his devoted sister, Sherry Kilpatrick, and his brother, Aaron and Barb Klug.A man of humble beginnings, Mark earned his GED and carved out a fulfilling career for himself. He spent many dedicated years as a maintenance man at Consolidated Manufacturing, before moving on to a long-lasting tenure at Tyson's, where he retired in 2020. Post-retirement, Mark cherished his time engaging in his favorite hobbies—riding his Harley, sharing stories during “Thirsty Thursdays,” and surrounding himself with friends and family. A passionate collector of guns and a fan of good music, Mark rarely went without a Budweiser in hand and a smile on his face.Mark was a man with a caring heart, whose infectious smile and warm hugs were cherished by all who knew him. Stephen Lambert Jones, 81, passed away on October 4, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 28, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Chester and Edith Lambert Jones. A proud graduate of Hutchinson High School in 1962, Stephen dedicated over 35 years as a truck driver for Dillons stores before transitioning to drive school buses for&nbsp;Buhler School District, retiring in 2022. He also served as a reserve sheriff’s officer alongside his&nbsp;son for Reno County.

Stephen had a passion for gardening, traveling in his RV with his wife Sandi, and enjoying coffee with his fellow drivers and son at Spangles. He was an enthusiastic fan of Buhler and KU sports. Above all, he was a loving father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his&nbsp;family and his dogs.

On August 22, 1986, he married Sandra Allison in Hutchinson, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Scott (Lisa) Jones of South Hutchinson, Sharlyn Jones of Wichita, Deedra&nbsp;Allison of Chevy Chase MD, Ragan (Andrew) Bonci of Mission, KS, and Brent (Angie) Fairchild of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Cody, Elizabeth, Morgan, Caitlin, Dresden, and Ellowyn; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lyla Bell.

Marlene Shirley Neufeld, 86, died October 8, 2024, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson, to Jacob and Mary (Goertzen) Base.

Marlene was raised on a small farm three and a half miles west of Burrton. She attended Buhler High School, where she was the basketball queen. Marlene was the catcher of her softball team, and a fierce ping pong player. Marlene graduated high school in 1955.

She worked for Jefferson Standard Life Insurance, Wells Aircraft, Buhler Unified School District, Gregory, Inc., Cargill Egg, and other businesses. Marlene loved cooking, especially if it was a new recipe and going for walks. She was always a very classy lady, and made sure everything was perfect from her clothes, to her hair, to her make-up and her jewelry.

On June 1, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Dean Neufeld, in Burrton. They shared over 65 years of marriage, prior to his death on September 3, 2022.

Marlene is survived by: her children, Steve (Linda) Neufeld and Susan Mayfield; grandchildren, Jessica (Malcolm) White and Joshua (Kaitlyn) Neufeld; great-grandchildren, Matix and Emersyn White; and a sister, Valeta Franz.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; sister, Marita; and brother, Duane.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Buhler Municipal East Cemetery, 14842 E. 82nd, Buhler. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp;

Mary Beth passed away on October 6, 2024 in her home after a long health battle surrounded in love by her family. She was born on Father’s Day, June 20th, 1954 in Hutchinson, KS, daughter of Melvin and Delores Schreiber of Nickerson, KS.

She attended Nickerson High School where she was very active in showing birds receiving many Grand Champion awards. She was active in a bowling league winning the Championship in 1979 with PEO. After graduating she worked at Seven Knights and it was there meeting her dear friend Rolee that she was introduced to Rick, they were married in August of 1975.&nbsp;

Together they adopted two beautiful children, Adrian and Berkely. Adrian preceded her in death in 2001.&nbsp;

She leaves behind her loving husband, her daughter and Randy Johnsen of Garland, NE and four grandchildren, Taylor, Kynley, Paxton and Lochlyn. Her brother Tom (Cindy) Schreiber, two nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Mary Beth is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Karen Johnson; niece, Kaelen Kasper and great niece Elissa Kasper.&nbsp;

Kelly Ann Clay (Bass), 49, of Boulder, Colorado, died October 6, 2024 at her mother's home. Born on August 1, 1975, to Melvin Bass and Vanita Wise, Kelly grew up in Hutchinson and was a graduate of Hutchinson High School.

Kelly was a senior corporate account manager at IDEXX, and was the former head of business development at Future Pet. Kelly studied management and organizational development and graduated from Trans Pacific University.&nbsp;

Kelly enjoyed traveling to different countries.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Erin Davenport of California and Meghan Davenport of Colorado. Kelly is also survived by her parents, Melvin (Linda) Bass and Vanita Wise.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lindsay Deanna Davenport, as well as her grandparents, John and Shirley Bass, and Alvin and Geraldine Wise.

A celebration of Kelly's life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Methodist Church in the Chapel.

Karen Lea Fisher, 59, of Langdon, died October 6, 2024, at her home. She was born April 17, 1965, in Pratt, to Charles L. and Carolyn S. (Johnson) Ostrom Sr.

Karen received her nursing degree from Pratt Community College and was a career nurse, working at Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph in Wichita and at Stafford County Hospital for many years. She was known for her outgoing personality and contagious humor. Karen was an avid Kansas Jayhawks and San Francisco 49ers fan. She also loved cats, her dog Diesel, and Mustangs – her own was named Sally. Karen was a fighter, battling health issues in recent years. Most of all, her grandkids were her life.

On May 13, 1990, Karen married Dennis E. Fisher, in Kingman. He survives.

Also surviving are: her daughter, Jackie Redinger (fiancé, Lance Caskey) of Hutchinson; sons, Joshua Ostrom of Montgomery, AL, Jeremy Fisher (Ashley) of Wichita; grandchildren, Christyna Reifschneider (Jack), Hunter Redinger, Amie Fisher, Madisen McCarty Ostrom, Kyairra Ostrom, Hailea Redinger, Hogan McClure, Aaliyah Ostrom, King Joshua Ostrom Jr., Khaleesie Ostrom, Harriet Ostrom, Barret Fisher, Mila Fisher; five great-grandchildren; mother, Carolyn Johnson of Hutchinson; brothers, Charlie Ostrom (Loretta) of Hutchinson, Adam Ostrom (Mary Margaret) of Gillette, WY; and many extended family members.

Dale Allen Smyres, 76, died October 6, 2024, at his home. He was born September 9, 1948, in Hutchinson, to Victor A. and Edith L. (Nelson) Smyres.

Dale graduated from Nickerson High School in 1966, and Wichita Technical Institute in 1968. He was the owner of Dale’s Northgate and had previously owned a Phillips 66 gas stations (Avenue A and Adams Street), and a Goodyear Tire store, all in Hutchinson. Dale was a member of the VFW Bob Campbell Post 1361, American Legion Lyle Rishel Post 68 and had been a member of Salt City Car Club in prior years. He enjoyed having a few beers with friends, shooting pool, fishing, softball, going to the lake, and hanging out at the family ponds.&nbsp;

On December 20, 1970, he married Susan Kay “Su” Dunbar, in Hutchinson. They shared over 53 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Harold L “Duff” Deardoff, 90, of Hutchinson, peacefully passed away Friday, October 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. &nbsp;He was born November 13, 1933, in Omaha, NE, to Loyal Kenneth and Ester Katherine (Jensen) Deardoff.&nbsp;

In 1951, Harold graduated from high school in Omaha, NE, and attended Hastings College, Hastings, NE. &nbsp;On May 17, 1953, he married Sharon McCormick, who passed away July 30, 1968, after a short illness. &nbsp;Harold married Dorothy (Klein) Krehbiel, in 1973, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage. &nbsp;He has three sons, one stepdaughter, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Harold retired from Garvey Elevators after 46 years of service, with the last few years serving as an Executive Vice-President. &nbsp;He had a deep appreciation for his work at Garvey Elevators and his co-workers and cronies from the Hutchinson Board of Trade era. &nbsp;In retirement, Harold kept busy assisting elderly and low-income taxpayers by preparing their taxes through AARP. &nbsp;He loved taking care of his yard, which was always pristine. In addition, Harold loved visits from family and was especially excited to see his great-grandchildren. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan which came from his childhood and young adult life living in Nebraska. Anyone who ever met Harold had a friend for life. &nbsp;He was considered by many as a kind and considerate person with an infectious personality. &nbsp;

Harold is survived by: &nbsp;his loving wife of 51 years, Dorothy Deardoff; sons, Randy Deardoff and John Deardoff (Jerri); stepdaughter, Robin Martinez, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Heather Braman (Mike) of Overland Park, Lindsay Cohen (Aaron) of Olathe, Lacey Menagay (Jon) and Taylor Donahue (Patrick), all of Spring Hill, KS; and great-grandchildren, Everett, Calahan, Brinley, Brecken, Sage, Violet and Sanford, all from the Kansas City area.&nbsp;

Melvin S. Schrock, 87, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Legends Senior Living, Hutchinson, KS. Melvin was born April 23, 1937, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Sam and Fannie (Yoder) Schrock.

Melvin graduated from Haven High School in 1955. He worked as a quality control engineer for Eaton Corp and retired after 35 years. Melvin earned his pilots licensed and did transportation for Eaton before retirement. Melvin enjoyed spending his time golfing and bowling. On July 22, 1972, Melvin married Paulene Kohler at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hutchinson. They enjoyed 52 years together.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Paulene; daughters, Katheryn (Rick) Rudiger and Marjean (Alan) Meeder; stepson, Bill (Mary) Ritzdorf; sister, Sue Miller; sister-in-law, Millie Schrock; grandson, Jeremy Grubbs; step granddaughters, Erika Ritzdorf and Kyrie Ritzdorf; great grandson, Cailen Drown.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, three sisters; stepdaughter, Barbara Ritzdorf; and grandsons, Mitchell Mueller and Dallas Grubbs.

The Reverend John E. Schroeppel, 86, of Hutchinson, died October 4, 2024, at his home. He was born April 17, 1938, in New Ulm, MN, to John Earl and Alice (Swenson) Schroeppel Sr.&nbsp;

Jack, as he was known to many, graduated from Winthrop High School in 1956, where he excelled in athletics. John attended the University of Minnesota, Gustavus Adolphus College, and graduated from Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary. He received his Doctor of Ministry degree at the University of Notre Dame. John served congregations in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Canada, and Manly and Griswold, Iowa, before moving to Hutchinson in 1994 to serve as pastor of Emanuel Lutheran Church, retiring in 2001. He loved being outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, and especially being at the cabin on Horseshoe Lake, MN.

On September 7, 1980, John married Anne E. (Jackson) Casper, in Winthrop, MN. They shared 44 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Stephen Casper (Tonya) of Eureka, Dr. John Paul Schroeppel (Mandy) of Leawood, Peter Schroeppel of Hutchinson, Dr. Sarah Schroeppel DeBacker (Christopher) of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Austin, Annaliese Casper, Addison, Payton, John Pierce Schroeppel, Nathaniel John and Theodore DeBacker; siblings, Douglas Schroeppel (Nancy) of Buffalo, MN, Kay Ferris (Brad) of Backus, MN, Sue Coulter of Crosslake, MN; sister-in-law, Karen Schroeppel of Plano, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Schroeppel.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Upper Fall River Lutheran Church Cemetery near Eureka.

John served in the United States Navy for eight years. He worked for Williams Natural Gas Company for over 25 years. John enjoyed reading books by Louis L’ Amour, fishing and eating a good homecooked meal. He also enjoyed cooking fired okra, pancakes and biscuits and gravy. John was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, in Hutchinson.

On August 11, 1972, he married Susan E. Patton, in Ulysses. They shared over 52 years in marriage.

John is survived by: wife, Susan Rust of Hutchinson; son, Caleb (Tara) of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Sue Rust; half-brother, Johnny Peterson.

Funeral service will be 9:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2024, at First Southern Baptist Church, 1201 E. 23rd Avenue, Hutchinson, with Dr. Roy Jaye officiating. Nita Ann McFarland, 73, of Kingman, died October 3, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi Village in Wichita. She was born March 13, 1951, in Syracuse, the daughter of Earl W. and Nina E. (Dimmitt) Seyb.

Nita graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1969 and later received her nursing degree from Hutchinson Community College. She started her nursing career at Prairie Sunset Home in Pretty Prairie, then worked as a surgical nurse for a doctor in Smith Center, and then at Kingman Hospital for over 30 years before retiring as Director of Nursing. Nita also owned and operated Mollie’s Attic in Kingman for many years. She was an avid shopper, reader – especially Clive Cussler novels, and Kansas Jayhawks fan. Nita especially loved attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

In 1970, she married Fredrick Carrithers in Pretty Prairie. He died in 1985. Nita married Merlin L. McFarland on October 16, 1987, in Smith Center. He survives.

Also surviving are: her son, Matthew Carrithers (Shanda) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Megan Pipkin (Kyle) of Cheney; stepchildren, Dustin McFarland (Paula) of Wichita, Jill Fisher (Andy) of Lawrence; grandchildren, Brody Carrithers, Madeline Carrithers, Camdyn Pipkin, Hadley Pipkin, Carter Pipkin; step-grandchildren, Keegan McFarland, Tatum McFarland, Nicole Wieshar, Kennedy George (Virgil), Augden Fisher; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mitchell Carrithers.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Lone Star Cemetery, 3000 W. Sun City Rd., Pretty Prairie.

Merlyn R. Buss, 85, died early morning of October 2, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born April 11, 1939, in McAlester, Oklahoma. The daughter of Robert S. and Rosie Whiteside Cornish. Later moving to Newton, Kansas where she grew up.

She graduated Newton High in 1957. On October 19, 1958, she married Eldon Buss. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Four children were born to this union. Merlyn liked to knit, crochet, tat, sew and quilt. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Hutchinson Collector Car Club and PEO AG chapter.

She is survived by her husband, Eldon Buss of Hutchinson, Kansas; her sister, Rosalea Sudlow; and two children,&nbsp;daughter, Laura Tebbe and husband Sean Tebbe from Overland Park, and son, Trent Buss and Fernanda Lopes from Olathe, Kansas; three grandchildren, Audrey Lovett of Tampa, Florida, Britton Schroeder of Eugene, Oregon and Aydon Buss of Olathe, Kansas; Goddaughters, Mindy Matson of Newton, Kansas and Laura Lobberecht of Jefferson City, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Laurella Kerr; her son, Mark Buss, and daughter Marty Jo Buss.

 </figure>Merlyn R. Buss, 85, died early morning of October 2, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born April 11, 1939, in McAlester, Oklahoma. The daughter of Robert S. and Rosie Whiteside Cornish. Later moving to Newton, Kansas where she grew up.She graduated Newton High in 1957. On October 19, 1958, she married Eldon Buss. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Four children were born to this union. Merlyn liked to knit, crochet, tat, sew and quilt. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Hutchinson Collector Car Club and PEO AG chapter.She is survived by her husband, Eldon Buss of Hutchinson, Kansas; her sister, Rosalea Sudlow; and two children,&nbsp;daughter, Laura Tebbe and husband Sean Tebbe from Overland Park, and son, Trent Buss and Fernanda Lopes from Olathe, Kansas; three grandchildren, Audrey Lovett of Tampa, Florida, Britton Schroeder of Eugene, Oregon and Aydon Buss of Olathe, Kansas; Goddaughters, Mindy Matson of Newton, Kansas and Laura Lobberecht of Jefferson City, Missouri.She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Laurella Kerr; her son, Mark Buss, and daughter Marty Jo Buss.Visitation will be Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 East 30th, Hutchinson, Kansas. Barbara Joyce Smith, 85 passed on September 23, 2024. Born October 17, 1938 in Newton, KS, she was the daughter of Randall and Ruby (Moore) Buckman. Growing up in Sterling, KS, Barbara graduated in 1956 from Sterling High School. She married W. Glenn Smith in February, 1957.

Barbara and Glenn eventually settled in Hutchinson, KS with their four children. Barbara began working for Buhler USD as a cook. She enjoyed working in the school system, grade school, middle school, and becoming Kitchen Manager for Buhler High School. After Barbara retired she loved to travel, especially cruising.

Survivors include son Dallas (Carla) Smith of Wichita KS, daughter Julie Smith of Montgomery TX, son Russell Smith of Florence CO. Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son Tedd D. Smith. Husband W. Glenn Smith. Her parents, one sister, and four brothers.

Services in Hutchinson, KS are to be announced.

Hector Beltran Beltran, 69, died September 30, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born November 22, 1954, in Pachera, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Antonio and Maria Del Refugio (Villalobos) Beltran.

Hector was dedicated to his faming and enjoyed raising his cattle and horses. He was a member of the Agricultural Association in Chihuahua, Mexico. He also enjoyed his time spent with his family and grandchildren.

On November 17, 1975, he married Laura Elena Gonzalez in Chihuahua, Mexico. They shared over 48 years of marriage.

Hector is survived by: his wife, Laura Beltran of Stafford; children, Hector (Alma) Beltran Jr. of Phoenix, Mario Beltran of St. John, Laura Ivonne (Luci) Veleta of Stafford; grandchildren, Hector Jr. Beltran, Crystal Beltran, Jose Ernesto Beltran, Xiomara Beltran, Kayla Guadalupe Beltran, Melany Beltran, Viannay Beltran, Mario Jr. Beltran, and Angie Guadalupe Veleta.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and two sons, Omar and Angel Beltran.

Funeral services will take place in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Eugenia Emily Rodriguez, 81, passed away September 23, 2024, at St. Francis Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, KS. The daughter of Antonio and Cleofas (Urioste) Flores. Eugenia was born in Villanueva, New Mexico on November 13, 1942.

She was a homemaker and assisted her husband, John in supervising the cross-country teams in Delta, Colorado on away trips, as well as attending numerous cross-country races, track&nbsp;meets, basketball games and summer races of her son, Chris and daughter, Amanda. Eugenia was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church from 1976-2019 and was an Altar Society member. She also attended St. Teresa Catholic Church from 2020-2024.

Her family moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1945. She attended schools there until 1959 when her family moved to Greeley, Colorado. She worked for Wright and Magill until 1962 when she met and married John Rodriguez on June 13, 1963, in Colby, Kansas.

Eugenia is survived by her two sons, John M. (Vera) Rodriguez and Christopher T. (Sam) Rodriguez; two daughters, Lisa R. (Miguel) Martinez and Amanda E. Garcia; two sisters, Rose and Lucy; a brother Tony Jr.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; four sisters, Amanda, Viriginia, Josie and Susie; two brothers, Vidale and Joe; and one grandson.

Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., on Friday,&nbsp;October 4, 2024, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, KS, with FatherJerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS.

Marianne K. ‘Mary’ Marne, 61, of Haven, died September 27, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born August 3, 1963, in Fargo, ND, and was adopted by James and Mildred ‘Millie’ (Svagera) Marne.&nbsp;

Mary acquired her associate degree from Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE, where she graduated cum laude in electronic technology. She felt drawn to volunteer and dedicated her adult life to rescuing and caring for animals. Mary funded food and veterinarian care with unwavering love and attention to over 95 fosters, adoptions, and rescues since moving to Kansas in 2000. Although she will be deeply missed, 34 of those rescues shall continue to thrive with her animal rescue partner of 32 years in their furever home.&nbsp;
