Larry Joe O’Hara, 85, of Hutchinson, died December 18, 2025, at Reno County Hospice House. He was born July 18, 1940, in Hobbs, NM, to John Wallace and Cleora Irene (Christian) O’Hara.

Larry graduated from Chase High School, Pratt Community College, and Kansas State University. He was a standout high school athlete and played football, basketball and ran track, winning first place at state in high hurdles. Larry went on to play football at Pratt Junior College and K-State. He was a purchasing agent for Cessna/Eaton Hydraulics for over 30 years before retiring. Larry was a member of Chase Baptist Church.

After retiring, he enjoyed traveling in his 5th wheel, traveling the east coast, Florida to Maine, and spending the winters in Texas for 13years. On one of those trips, Larry learned to braid wool rugs.  He was “best in show” with his braided rugs at the Kansas State Fair. Larry’s braided rugs are cherished by his family.

On December 19, 1959, Larry married Lavon Sue Milsap, in Lyons. They shared 66 years of marriage.

He is survived by: his wife, Sue of Hutchinson; daughters, Gail O’Hara Streepy and husband Dan Streepy of Hutchinson, Angie O’Hara of Topeka; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Larry was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Cleora; brothers, John O’Hara, Frank Miller, Pat O’Hara; and son-in-law, Elston Arrington.

Larry’s wishes were to be cremated and with no services held.
