Diane Marie Steadman, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Hutchinson on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. She was born on May 5, 1942, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of H. Newlin and Lois Allene (Brickey) Reynolds.
Diane graduated from The University of Kansas with her Bachelor of Science in Education. She was a 5th grade teacher in Kiowa, KS and worked in retail at JCPenney’s for more than 20 years. On July 14, 1973, Diane married Larry Steadman in Boise, Idaho. Diane was a homemaker, loving wife and mother, and was described as intelligent and bubbly. She enjoyed reading and loved her family dearly. She was the light and love of Larry’s life, and to all who knew her. Diane was an altar guild at Grace Episcopal Church in Hutchinson for 20+ years.
Diane is preceded by her parents; daughter, Heather Ann Hayes; and two siblings, Rozlyn and Stuart Reynolds.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughter, Heidi Sue (Jason) Kohls; stepdaughter, Lanelle (Peter) McKernan; stepson, Bradley (Julie) Steadman; a sister, Sheila (Lowell) Paul; sister-in-law, Annie Reynolds; two grandchildren, Emily and Dylan Kohls; and two nieces and two nephews.
Per the family’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Episcopal Church and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS.
