Robert W. “Bob” Wise, age 86, passed away Wednesday, January 6, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City.

Bob was born April 15, 1934 to Jake and Ruth Wise and raised on a farm in Fernald, Iowa. Bob graduated from high school in 1952 and moved to McPherson to attend McPherson College and play football. He received his bachelor’s degree from McPherson College in 1956, married his college sweetheart, Anita McSpadden, and coached football before moving to Washington, DC for law school. He received his law degree, with honors, from George Washington University in 1961. While in law school, he worked as a Special Agent for the Office of Naval Intelligence and was a member of the board of editors of the George Washington University Law Review.

Bob loved the practice of law and his partners and was proud of his firm’s 135 year history. He was an active member of the McPherson law firm Wise &amp; Reber L.C. at his death. He practiced for 60 years in the areas of litigation, business, banking, trusts and estates, arbitration and mediation and never considered retirement. He was past president of the Kansas Bar Association, past chair of the KBA Ethics Grievance Panel, and was a recipient of the KBA’s Professionalism Award, its Outstanding Service Award and the Kansas Bar Foundation Robert K. Weary Award. He was also a past member of the State Board of Law Examiners, Kansas Annual Survey Committee and was a fellow of the Kansas Bar Foundation. Bob was universally respected by Kansas lawyers and represented thousands of clients.

Bob served as an unseen advisor to city and county leaders throughout his career and was instrumental in creating a forward thinking political and business culture in McPherson.

As president of the McPherson Industrial Development Company, (“MIDC”), Bob was instrumental in recruiting two of McPherson’s flagship industries, Sterling Drug, now Pfizer Pharmaceutical, and Johns Manville. Bob served on the MIDC Board for nineteen years and as President for nine years. During his tenure as President, McPherson’s industrial base enjoyed remarkable growth and expansion. Bob also influenced the retail sector with his work on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce as President. Bob has held numerous volunteer positions including President of the McPherson United Way and as a member of the Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. He led a significant hospital expansion as Chair of the New Building Committee.

Bob was a long time champion of local educational institutions, McPherson College and Central Christian College of Kansas. His support and counsel over the decades was recognized by McPherson College with an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree and his induction into Central Christian College’s Academe of Achievers.

He is survived by his wife Anita, son Darrell, grandchildren Erin Holman, Daniel Holman and Shannon Wise, sisters Lu Neher and Betty Wenger, his law partners, and legions of friends and clients. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Holman and parents Jake and Ruth Wise. He was a member of the McPherson Church of the Brethren.

Barbara J. Baar, age 97, of Gainesville, TX, went to be with her Lord on April 2, 2022 at Gainesville, Texas.

She was born March 17, 1924, in Stafford, to Edward and Eleanor Taylor Slade. She was a 1943 graduate of Stafford High School. She was a homemaker, an excellent seamstress and enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds. She was passionate about 4-H, Extension, water aerobics, birds and nature. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, by helping start the program in Gainesville, TX. and at National Wildlife preserves like Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge.

On May 21, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart Edwin Gene Baar in rural Stafford. He died January 3, 1990. Surviving are her children: son, Robert (Brenda) Baar of Joes, CO; two daughters, Kay (Roger) Staats of Gainesville,TX, and Julia (Matthew) Anderson of Alma, KS;&nbsp; a sister-in-law Lois Slade of Bella Vista, AR; six grandsons: Tracy (Nicole) Staats, Brad (Emily) Holliday, Brian (Stacey) Baar, Austin (Jessica) Baar,&nbsp; Lance (Lichelle) Baar, and Mark (Hanna) Anderson; fourteen great-grandchildren: Landon &amp; Camille Staats, Ashton &amp; Aidan Baar, Genesis &amp; Noah Baar, Kyren &amp; Adrian Graves, Tinley &amp; Zayley Baar, Brynn, Ivy, &amp; Ember Anderson, Daphne Holliday and many nieces and nephews. Jeanette Marie Tommer, 78, of Lyons, passed away April 3, 2022, at Hospital District #1 of Rice County, Lyons. She was born December 14, 1943, in Dodge City, the daughter of Joseph Clem and Helen Cline Langlois.

 Jeanette has resided in Lyons since 1971, formerly of Kinsley. She graduated from Windhorst High School, Windhorst, with the class of 1961. 

Jeanette was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, CNA and CMA at various local nursing homes, and a Rice County Dispatcher. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Lyons, and the Sterling American Legion Post #128. 

On August 17, 1963, Jeanette was united in marriage with Richard Tommer, Sr. in Spearville. He survives of the home. 

She is also survived by her three sons, Rick Tommer and wife Julie of Sterling; Terry Tommer and wife Selena Dawn of Kansas City; and Wayne Tommer of Alden; daughter, Celena Bray and husband Cy of Stilwell, OK; brother, John “Jake” Langlois of Dodge City; sister, Janice Beebe and husband Ken of Littleton, CO; twenty grandchildren, Alexis, Brandon, Trenton, Adyan, Zach, Layne, Audrey, Calvin, Hannah, Shelbie, Chelsie, Tandra, Kevin, Ed, Stasha, Mariah, Jenny, Brandi, Sarah, Maranda; and twenty-six great-grandchildren. 

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph Robert Tommer; daughter, Cindy Rusch; brother and sister-in-law, James and Judy Langlois; and sister-in-law, Thelma Langlois.

Stacy Alan Base, 55, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side, into the arms of his Lord, on March 31, 2022 at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on October 25, 1966 in Hutchinson, the son of Duane and Mary ( Goertzen) Base.

Stacy graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1985.&nbsp; Stacy worked for Dillon's Warehouse refrigeration foods for 13 years, where he made numerous friends that he considered extended family. Stacy's favorite things to do were spending as much time with his grandkids as possible.&nbsp; Watching or attending Nascar, and concerts.&nbsp; Music was a big part of his life.&nbsp; He was a walking encyclopedia when it came to sports history and facts.

He is survived by his wife Dee (Tissue) ( Stucky) Base; sister, Shelly&nbsp; ( Randy) Berner; daughter, Alisha ( Jeremy) Lucerro; step-daughter, Maegan ( Cody) Lobban; step-son, Bryce Stucky; grandchildren, Crevan and Killian Lucerro; step-grandchildren, Keller and Jace Lobban; first wife, Dana (Diggs) Blanton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Amy; grandparents, father-in-law, Kevin Starks.

Irene attended Nickerson High School.&nbsp; She married Kenneth Smith Sr. on June 29, 1950 in Hutchinson.&nbsp; Irene was a homemaker and attended Westside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; a grandson, Jermiah J. Smith; son-in-law, Scott Cunningham; three brothers; one sister; three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law. Will lived on a farm south of Cheney for 42 years, before moving to Hutchinson 10 years ago.&nbsp; He was the owner of Ruckle Manufacturing, where he worked as a machinist and tool builder.&nbsp; Will was known as a ‘jack-of-all-trades’.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and bowling.&nbsp; Will could also be found watching Westerns on the television.&nbsp; He loved to work in the garden and his yard was his ‘pride and joy’.&nbsp; Will spent many hours on his various activities, but the time that he most cherished was when he was spending time with the family, especially the grandkids.

On October 1, 1960, Will married Janet Faye Huenergardt, in Wichita.&nbsp; They shared over 61 years of marriage.

Will is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Janet Ruckle of Hutchinson; children, Kenny (Linda) Ruckle of Burrton; and Teri (Gary) Eckhoff of Hutchinson; grandsons, A. J. Eckhoff of Lenexa; and Daniel (Paige) Eckhoff of Salina; granddaughter, Amy Malcom of Wichita; great-grandson, Owen Eckhoff; great-granddaughters, Amyah, Ariauna, and Aleana Malcom; brothers, Ricky Ruckle of Oregon; and Marvin (Cindy) Ruckle of Wichita; sisters, Judy (Dave) Stolzheise of Wichita; and Gail Ruckle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

David Van Asselt, 76, of Hutchinson, passed away in his home, Friday, April 1, 2022. He was born January 7, 1946, in Zeeland, Michigan and graduated from Grand Haven High School. David moved to Hutchinson with his family in 1979.

David was co-owner and head salesman for Lea J. Alan Enterprises, Inc. in Newton. He was an avid golfer, die-hard Michigan Wolverines fan, and loved his home and family.

He is survived by: his wife, Linda, Hutchinson; five daughters, Kimberly McClain (Steve), Statham, GA; Bobbi Van Asselt Strayer, Lawrence; Stephanie Dawes (Craig), Buhler; Susanne Krishna (Mohan), Bellevue, NE; Abigail Bynum (Darrell), Powder Springs, GA; brothers, Walter (Jan), Gladstone, MO; Karl (Margaret), Durham, NH; grandchildren, Zachary, Zeke, Seth, Jacob, Logan, Dylan, Kevin, Mallory, Cameron, Cullen, Maverick, Mackenzie; and five great-grandchildren.

Joe Whitmore was born on March 10, 1933, in Newton, to Roy William Whitmore and Mary Agnes (Lintner). 

He peacefully went home to the Lord on March 28, 2020, in Richardson, Texas following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty whom he married in 1990, his son Frederick (Fred) Whitmore and wife Leslie, his daughter Ann Mercado and husband Caesar, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Joe is also survived by Betty’s children Charles (Ronnie) Robison and Judy Wittenback, four step-grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His sister Erma Lou Noll predeceased him in 2012. Joe had an idyllic childhood growing up in Potwin. He graduated from Potwin High School in the class of 1951. On March 10, 1953, he married Joyce Vogelman and they had two children, Fred and Ann. He achieved the rank of Corporal in the Army during the Korean War. Joe graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in Business Administration. After college graduation, Joe then took over the family business in Potwin, Whitmore Hardware and Lumber, which was established by his grandfather John Oliver Whitmore in 1909. Joe’s retail career transitioned into the agriculture business as he and his father sold hybrid corn and sorghum field seeds to local farmers with the Garst and Pioneer seed companies. In 1973, the company moved the family to Garden City, Kansas, where he served as District and Regional Sales Manager for the Garst Production Plant. In 1987, Joe moved to Richardson, Texas to be near his two children and to assist Fred, his son, in his mortgage company. In 1990, he married Betty (Thompson) Robison. Throughout his life, Joe was devoted to showing and sharing the love and compassion of our Lord. He was baptized in his youth at the Potwin Christian Church. He was an active member and greatly enjoyed serving as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher of the Potwin and Garden City Christian churches as well as the United Disciples Christian Church in Richardson. Joe and Betty also volunteered for many years at Methodist Richardson Medical Center. He especially enjoyed delivering cards and flowers to the patients. In his spare time, Joe was a loyal fan of sports. He played baseball and basketball during his years in high school. As an adult, one of his favorite past-times was golf. Every Wednesday, he enjoyed playing a good round with his buddies until very late in life. The family would like to thank The Plaza at Richardson staff that helped Betty take such great care of him during his final years.

Viola Esther Strausz, 93, passed away April 3, 2022 at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge.&nbsp; She was born March 31, 1929 in Newton, to Lyle D. and Lelah (Crawford) Koby.

Viola graduated from Sedgwick High School in 1947.

She was a devoted homemaker and farmer’s wife.&nbsp; Viola worked for the Moundridge Ledger newspaper for 35 years.

Viola married Melvin P. Strausz on August 17, 1947 at Sedgwick.&nbsp; He died March 24, 2013.

Since 1963, she was an active member of Moundridge United Methodist Church, where she held several positions.&nbsp; Viola and her husband were leaders of the Liberty 4-H Club and Hesston Shoe Scuffers Square Dance Club.&nbsp; Viola was also a member of the Garden EHU (Extension Homemakers Unit).

She was survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.&nbsp; Viola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; son, Stacy Kent Strausz, who died in 1973; two sisters and four brothers.

Gerald Lee Green, 82, died April 3, 2022, at Hospice House in Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born June 2, 1939, in Burrton, the son of Ottis and Allene (Guthrie) Green.

Gerald graduated from Burrton High School.&nbsp; He was an auto mechanic for several dealerships beginning at Boyd Motors Volkswagen and retiring from Donovan Auto and Truck Center in 2001.&nbsp; He was a member of the Congregational Church, Haven, where he served as Worship Leader for many years.&nbsp; He was on the Council of the Greater Wichita Area Cherokee Community.&nbsp; He enjoyed playing church softball, bowling, boating, duck hunting and watching Blue Dragon and KU basketball.

He married Sharon King in May 1959.&nbsp; They shared almost 63 years of marriage.

Gerald is survived by wife, Sharon Green, Haven; son, Jerry Green (Karen), Overland Park; daughter, Janice Dalke (fiancé, Bob Ruxlow), Haven; five grandchildren, Alex (Justine) Dalke, Haven; Ashley (Mike) Italia, Naperville, IL; Nolan (Jessica) Dalke, Manteo, NC; Courtney (Ben) Gering, Kansas City, MO; and Hannah Dalke, Clarksville, TN; and seven great-grandchildren, Laura, Juliette, Lucas and Heidi Dalke, Jacob and Jase Dalke, and Luca Italia.

Josephine Lucille Eslinger, 92 of Canton, died April 3, 2022 at The Cedars, McPherson. She was a retired bookkeeper and had been a resident of Canton since 1994, moving from Newton.

She was born August 1, 1929 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Peter H. and Justina (Pankratz) Frantz. On December 12, 1952 she married Glen Holdeman at Newton. He died in 1986. She later married Everett Eslinger in June of 1993 in Newton. He died June 28, 2020.

Survivors include her two daughters, Glenna Coleman of Independence, Missouri and Susan (John) Gordon, Nebraska City, Nebraska; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Interment in Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022, with a memorial service following at 11:30 a.m. at Olson's Mortuary, Canton.

Cecil married Debra "Debbie" Sue (Withers) Polok on August 19, 1980 in Wichita. They were married for 41 years. Duane graduated from Pratt High School in 1976. He worked as a Sales Manager for Southwest Truck Parts, Inc. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and BPOE Elks Lodge #1451. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, raising chickens, pulling pranks and spending time with his family, his 10 grandchildren and friends. Edith Lee Hizey  |2022| 

Kathryn Laura (Holecek) Hill, 78, of McPherson, passed away at 11:15 p.m., Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022 at The Cedars Health Care Center. Kathy was born in McPherson, on February 17, 1944, the daughter of Leona (Kleiber) and F. Wayne Holecek. 

She attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from McPherson High School in 1962. She graduated from Kansas State University, concentrating on elementary education. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McPherson. After graduating, Kathy worked at raising her family and supporting Bill’s career as they moved from Illinois, to Nebraska, then Iowa, and finally Florida. Kathy began her teaching career in Florida and continued it after relocating in 1979 to Dodge City, Kansas, to be closer to family. Kathy taught special education for 25 years in Dodge City before retiring in 2004 to her hometown, McPherson. She taught a few more years in McPherson before transitioning to a paraprofessional educator role at McPherson Middle School. Kathy enjoyed K-State athletics, especially K-State football. She loved spending time with her family, socializing and traveling with friends new and old. Kathy and Bill enjoyed their social life and always enjoyed a party with friends of whom they had many. They had their childhood friends, condo friends, Dodge City friends, Florida friends, K-State friends, work friends, yoga friends, and many more. Kathy was small in stature, but her voice, smile and laugh are remembered by everyone! 

Kathryn Laura Holecek was united in marriage to William Harve Hill, Jr. on January 15, 1965, in McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first house together in Manhattan, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Jeff and Andy. 

Kathy was proceeded in death by her parents Wayne and Leona Holecek and her husband, Bill; She is survived by her children Jeff Hill and wife Nanette, of Tecumseh; and Andy Hill and his wife Megan, of Louisburg; her brother John Holecek, of McPherson; sister-in-law Sara Bremyer and her husband Jay, of McPherson; brother-in-laws Bob Hill of McPherson; David Hill and his wife Lisa, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is also survived by grandchildren: Caitlin Butto (David), Madeline Kolman (Alec), Benjamin Hill, Alison Hill, Jake Hill, Noah Hill, Luke Hill; her great granddaughter, Natalia Butto; and nephews Seth Bremyer and Aaron Bremyer (Dionne).

Ronald Dean Bryant, 55, of McPherson, passed away at 4:52 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2022 unexpectedly at his residence. Ronald was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 4, 1966, a son of Sherilyn Evamae Grace (Hodgkin) Thompson and David Linwood Bryant.

Ronald attended and graduated from Faith Baptist School, Olathe, in 1985. He then attended a computer trade school in Roanoke, Virginia. He was a member of Countryside Covenant Church in McPherson. Through the years Ronald worked as a operator with Viega Mfg. for 13 years. Ronald enjoyed Chiefs football, especially watching them win with his daughter Camille, Nascar, especially Dale Earnhardt Jr., traveling, camping and spending time with friends and family. His life ambition was to have a family, which he did with Menchu and Camille. Ronald Bryant was united in marriage to Menchu Perida on March 23, 2013 in McPherson. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with Ron adopting Menchu daughter, Camille. 

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Menchu Bryant, of McPherson; his daughter Camille Bryant, of McPherson; his father, David Bryant and his wife Sue, of Hudson, Florida; his mother, Sherilyn Thompson and her husband Bob, of Windham, Maine; his siblings, Rick Bryant and his significant other Rhonda Apana, of Dexter, Maine; Holly Page and her husband Morey, of Vernon, Vermont; Randall Bryant and his significant other Marta Landeros, of Lyons; and Rusty Bryant and his wife Loreane, of Watervliet, New York. Armella Marie Pohl, 85, died March 31, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born April 9, 1936, at rural Mt. Hope, to Werner and Margaret (Halfmann) Orth.

Armella worked at Holy Cross Catholic School in the kitchen and was a custodial assistant, as well as working in partnership with her husband in their painting business. Her favorite job was providing daycare in her home.&nbsp;Armella enjoyed decorating during the Christmas holidays, growing flowers, and gardening. She also excelled at canning produce from her garden. Armella was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Holy Cross Altar Society.

On June 7, 1955, she married Walter Pohl, in Conway Springs. He died March 9, 1990, having shared over 34 years of marriage. Armella was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Pete Orth.

Kenneth E. Shank, 93, died March 30, 2022, at Hospice House,
Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born February 24, 1929, in Priest River, ID, to Audra
and Robert Shank.

Kenneth is survived by:&nbsp;his wife of 68 years, Bonnie Shank;
sisters, Gloria Garcia, Lucille Kidder, and Dorothy Knauss; nephews, Duane
Beichley (Kathleen), Chuck Snapp, and John Snapp; nieces, Linda Cowel and
Sheryl Shaw (Mike); and numerous others.

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp;his daughter, Valerie Kay Shank,
in 1976 at the age of 19; parents; and brothers, Robert, Lester, and Richard
Shank.

Kenneth joined his brothers in Ardenvoir, WA, and from there
joined the United States Army, serving from 1949 to 1952.&nbsp; He graduated
from the Signal School at Fort Monmouth, NJ, studying radar and radio.&nbsp;
Kenneth served in Japan during the Korean War, where he taught radar to the
troops.&nbsp; He studied at the University of California on campus in Yokohama,
Japan, while there.

After leaving the service, Kenneth was employed by RCA as an
electronics field engineer, and later worked for Raytheon Company in Sudbury,
MA.&nbsp; He formed Orion Associates, where he designed and manufactured a
connector to be used for specialized medical equipment while in Massachusetts
and retired from that business in 1996 after moving to Hutchinson.

Kenneth graduated from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass, with
highest honors on June 15, 1969, with a degree in business.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at First
Congregational Church, 3410 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford
officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard at
the church.&nbsp; Per Kenneth’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private
family graveside service will be held at a later.&nbsp; Friends may sign the
book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, at Elliott

Tony Lee Greenemeyer was born on January 11, 1966, to David Greenemeyer, Jr. and Mary Lou (Clore) Greenemeyer. Tony, passed away peacefully with his brother by his side on March 30, at Kenwood View Nursing Home in Salina.

Tony was a jack of all trades when it come to work. He started with working as a railroader with the Santa Fe Railroad, he also worked at the Marion State Hwy Department, Salina Steel and ended with working for Holms Construction doing concrete work and building construction.

Tony is survived by his brother Leslie Greenemeyer and his wife Colleen, of Salina, sister Tracy Trego and her husband George, of Delaware, grandkids; David, Gabriel Rose, and Caleb Greenemeyer, stepchildren; Jennifer and Jerome, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Kirk, sister; Tina, son; Eric, and significant other Cathy (Cat).

Glory, on March 31, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born December 6,
1925, on the family farm west of White City, to Otto and Lydia (Albrecht)
Hansen.

Ardella attended local schools and graduated from White City
High School with the Class of 1944. On August 28, 1944, Ardella married the
love of her life Clyde in White City. This union was blessed with 5 children.
Ardella was a homemaker on the family farm, raising her children, planting a garden,
and raising vegetables for the family.&nbsp; Another priority of Ardella’s was
raising chickens and caring for all the farm cats. She also enjoyed raising
flowers and with these flowers she would supply flowers for the church altar.
Ardella was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Latimer, where she
was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild.&nbsp; Ardella loved to
quilt, making quilts for many family members throughout the years. She belonged
to several social clubs over the years and loved taking care of her
grandchildren throughout the years. Family was very important to Ardella; she
never missed a chance to spend time with her family and she always would cook
big meals for them. Ardella loved watching K-State sports and loved watching
the Kansas City Chiefs play. But her favorite thing to do was watch her
grandchildren’s sporting events regardless of the sports.

Ardella is survived by her husband of 78 years Clyde, sons; Gary
(Connie), of Manhattan, Wayne, of White City; Randy (Catherine), of Herington;
and Richard (Darlene), of White City; her sister; Barbara Tiede, her 10
grandchildren; Shanda (Jared) Wilson, Shawn (Lorri) Kasten, Shane (Melissa)

Darren James Ebling, 33, of Lindsborg, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, at Salina Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born on October 3, 1988, in Salina, to Kent and Caren Ebling.

He was a 2007 graduate of SVHS and received fire and EMS training from Hutchinson Community College and Advanced-EMS training from Butler Community College.

Darren worked in the Emergency Services as a Fireman and Advanced EMT with the Lindsborg Fire and EMS, Life Touch EMS, McPherson EMS, Reno County EMS, Hutchinson Community College – Lab Instructor, and the safety crew at Salina Speedway.

Darren was preceded in death by his father Kent and is survived by his mother, Caren, siblings, Jennifer &amp; Kurtis, Lindsborg, and grandmother, Donna Elvin, Marquette.

Dianne’s life began on January 9, 1960, in Florence. She was the daughter of Delano F. and Barbara Anne (Harbison) O’Dell. 

Dianne was a 1978 graduate of Marion High School. She worked for the Marion County Treasurer’s Office for several years as a clerk and had been the city clerk at Florence. Prior to working in local government, Dianne was a seismologist and worked in several and varied locations. 

Dianne was fortunate to have found love twice in her life, first to husband James Hinton, who preceded her in death and then to Don Burnett, who she married April 6, 1994, in Reno. 

Dianne was an expert homebody. She loved to be in her jammies, enjoying time with family. She was a fan of watching old western movies and enjoyed football, rooting on her NY Giants. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband Don of Marion; brother Mike O’Dell of Marion; nieces Erin (Shawn) Markley of Lee Summit; and Caitlin (Jake) Adkins of St. George; and great nieces and nephews Ella, Lily, Logan, Reagan, Quinn, and Collins. 

Dianne passed away at her home on Thursday March 31, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband James Hinton, and brother Scott O’Dell.

Clara H. Copeland&nbsp;passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in Wichita.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born in Crossroads, Arkansas to Gertha Noveda (Hearn) May Toone and "Dan" Ely Lee May. She was a lifelong resident of Valley Center and Wichita.&nbsp;

She worked and retired from Furr's Cafeteria. Clara loved to be helping all and any family. She took care of anyone that needed her until their final resting days.&nbsp;She enjoyed shopping and eating out around town. Her favorite was to stop in and visit with her sister Melba and have coffee.&nbsp;They loved, absolutely loved playing dominoes and would get a game going and play for hours at a time. Her greatest love too was when the grandkids were all over for a visit with her.&nbsp; She truly loved her family and time with them. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Gertha and Dan May, siblings Clemon May and Melba Lee Dater, spouse Ernest Copeland and their son Glen J. Copeland, great grandson Dominic, a niece and great nephew. Clara is survived by her son &nbsp;Ronald Seiter (Jackie) of Florida and daughter Rhonda Thomas (Shane) of Wichita; grandchildren: Tammy Blackford (Glen), Jamie Seiter, Ronnie Seiter, Karl Seiter and Steven Seiter (Nicole) all of Florida; Danica (Daniel) Johnson and Aaron Smith (Sandra) of Wichita; and Glen Brownlee; great grandchildren Alyssa Seiter and Kayla Seiter of Florida;&nbsp;&nbsp;Madison, Hunter and Kennedy of Wichita; Kristy Minshall (Curtis) of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; and Brandy Minshall (Dexter) of Little River Academy, Tx; great great grandson: Lyam Kolb; many other family and friends.&nbsp;

Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 1, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center with Harry Hynes Hospice Chaplain Ed officiating.&nbsp; Clara will be laid to rest at Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita.

John Edward Schwartz, the son of Christina Margaret (Kuhn) McReynolds and John J. Schwartz was born on March 9, 1954 in Hoisington. 

He was one of six children born to this union, four sons and two daughters, John Jr., Betty, Don, Theresa, Tom and John. 

John attended St. John grade school, Hoisington, and graduated from Hoisington High School, Hoisington, in 1972. He then attended Barton County Community College, Great Bend, for Automotive Mechanics. After John was discharged from the military he attended Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, Kansas where he received his Associates Degree. 

John E. Schwartz was united in marriage to Nancy Jean Sheridan on April 28, 1975 in Ellsworth. The young couple established their first home together in Bainbridge, Maryland. This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Sonya and Megan. 

John proudly served in the United States Navy until his Honorable discharge in 1980. Through the years John worked as a Electrician for the Board of Public Utilities, McPherson. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson. John was a Christian, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend to many. 

His wise counsel, gentle but firm guidance and gracious smile will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was very proud of his children and always wanted the very best for them. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to the times they would share together. John was a master of all trades who could build anything from a house to a vehicle from scratch. His favorite pastime was restoring old Chevy trucks but he was reluctant to even work on Fords or foreign vehicles. He also enjoyed traveling with the Hot Rod Power Tour, competing in car shows with the Mac Area Cruisers, and watching Nascar every weekend. He loved going to auctions and swap meets. For him, everything was for sale, for the right price of course. 

When John was a young man, he was an excellent drummer and still enjoyed listening to anything with a good drum line. John cherished his family and friends, but was always quick to say goodbye. 

John Edward Schwartz, 68, of Moundridge, passed away at 5:44pm, Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 unexpectedly at his residence. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty Szmyd.He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nancy Schwartz, of Moundridge; his daughters, Sonya Jenkins and her husband Mike, of Moundridge; and Megan Schwartz, of Moundridge; his siblings, Don Schwartz and his wife Julie, of Moundridge; Theresa Murray, of Kingman; and Tom Schwartz and his wife Pat, of Wichita. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Bayli Hoppes, Brenen Hoppes, Ian Jenkins, Kaden Jenkins, J.D. Jenkins, Thomas Jenkins and two great grandchildren, Bronx Hoppes and Kingston Ogbevoen. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas w/ Rosary starting at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Carneiro Cemetery, Carneiro.&nbsp;&nbsp;
