Barbara J. Baar, age 97, of Gainesville, TX, went to be with her Lord on April 2, 2022 at Gainesville, Texas.

She was born March 17, 1924, in Stafford, to Edward and Eleanor Taylor Slade. She was a 1943 graduate of Stafford High School. She was a homemaker, an excellent seamstress and enjoyed working in her garden and flower beds. She was passionate about 4-H, Extension, water aerobics, birds and nature. She volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, by helping start the program in Gainesville, TX. and at National Wildlife preserves like Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge.

On May 21, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart Edwin Gene Baar in rural Stafford. He died January 3, 1990. Surviving are her children: son, Robert (Brenda) Baar of Joes, CO; two daughters, Kay (Roger) Staats of Gainesville,TX, and Julia (Matthew) Anderson of Alma, KS;  a sister-in-law Lois Slade of Bella Vista, AR; six grandsons: Tracy (Nicole) Staats, Brad (Emily) Holliday, Brian (Stacey) Baar, Austin (Jessica) Baar,  Lance (Lichelle) Baar, and Mark (Hanna) Anderson; fourteen great-grandchildren: Landon & Camille Staats, Ashton & Aidan Baar, Genesis & Noah Baar, Kyren & Adrian Graves, Tinley & Zayley Baar, Brynn, Ivy, & Ember Anderson, Daphne Holliday and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Royce, Rodney, Bernard, Byron & Don Slade and a sister Phyllis McClure.

Funeral date not set yet, it will be held at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Burial will be at Neola Cemetery, Reno County, Turon.
