Heaven gained one hell of angel on April 27, 2023. Rodney Eugene Mears, 79, passed away at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born February 18, 1944, in Minot, ND, the son of Harry and Katherine (Reynolds) Mears. In 1961, Rodney joined the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1964. On January 20, 1995, Rodney married Cynthia Cullison in Hutchinson. Rodney was owner and operator for Chicken Etc. in Hutchinson. In his free time, Rodney enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. He was a member of the Shriners in the Des Moines, Iowa and Kansas City, KS area. Jeremy Wade Kessler, 37, died April 26, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas. He was born March 5, 1986, at Newton, the son of Terry D. and Shery K. (Albrecht) Kessler.

He was a member of the West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge.

Jeremy graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 2004. He later received a degree from Hutchinson Community College in Automotive Body Repair in 2006.

He worked as a farm hand. Jeremy was formerly employed by Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, where he was a Team Leader.

He is survived by his parents, Terry and Shery Kessler of Moundridge; children, Colton Kessler and Audrey Kessler; fiancé, Sarah Killenberg of Mönchengladbach, NRW Germany and her two children, Liam and Jakoby; and brother, Cory (Stephenie) Kessler of Hot Springs, AR, and their children, Devon and Alexis.

Cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2023 at West Zion Mennonite Church, Moundridge. A meal will follow in the church fellowship hall. Gwen Eck was born Gwendolyn Joyce Dix on February 13, 1933, in what was then The McPherson County Hospital. She was the youngest of three daughters born to George and Erma Dix. Her sisters, Hazel and Dora, were both much older, making her the baby of the family. While in high school, she was an accomplished baton-twirler and took great pride in leading the marching band in the McPherson County All Schools Day parade as well as performing at the bandshell.

While still in High School at age 17, she married her lifelong partner, Leonard Eck, on June 20, 1950. She would spend most of her adult life as a homemaker raising sons Joe, George and Jon, born of that union. One of her favorite hobbies was handwriting analysis, through which she obtained a Master’s Degree.

After her husband Leonard retired from Kansas Jack in 1993, he formed his own business called Ecktronics, and Gwen found a new role as his helper. She would handle the books, correspondence, shipping and other duties to help make Ecktronics a success.

After Leonard died in 2010, her cousin Joan gave her a cat that she named "Precious". Precious kept her company and occasionally nibbled on her tropical plants in the sunroom she greatly enjoyed.

Gwen went to be with her Lord and Savior April 27, 2023, at the home on north Hartup that she shared with Leonard for over 50 years. She was 90.

Survivors include: sons, Joe of the home and George (Ramona) of McPherson. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, her parents, sisters, and son, Jon.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, McPherson.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 1, at Emmanuel Church Cemetery, 2161 Comanche Rd., Galva.

Misti Francene DeBerry, 52, of Lyons, died in the arms of her loved ones April 26, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born September 8, 1970, in Hutchinson, to Edward W. and Sharon K. (Whithorn) Snell.

In addition to being a homemaker, Misti worked for many years as a CNA at Good Samaritan Society - Lyons. Along with her husband, Chris, she was co-owner of Jones Oil Company in Lyons. Misti loved being a grandma, and enjoyed going on cruises, being at the lake, sunsets, and gardening. She was outgoing and generous, and, in death, donated her kidneys and other tissue so others could survive.

On August 14, 1992, Misti married Ronald DeBerry, in Hutchinson. They later divorced. On September 12, 2015, she married Christopher J. Hass, in Lyons. He survives.

Also surviving are: her daughter, Holli DeBerry (fiancé, Codey Johnson) of South Hutchinson; son, Jacob Tomlin of Buhler; granddaughters, Adrianna Ford and Remington Johnson; mother, Sharon Snell of Hutchinson; brothers, Troy Snell of Wellington, Larry Snell of Hutchinson; and many extended family members.

Cremation has taken place and a remembrance celebration of her life with us will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Holli’s house, 520 S. Walnut, South Hutchinson.

Marjorie I. ‘Jean’ Esau, 92, of Hutchinson, died April 26, 2023, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born February 6, 1931, in Seminole, OK, to William T. and Anna Bell (Reddington) Mills.

Jean enjoyed spending her time: sewing, gardening, crocheting, and studying her Bible.

On October 20, 1962, she married Darlow D. Esau, in Hutchinson. They shared over 51 years of marriage before his death on July 7, 2014.

Jean is survived by: daughter, Lisa (Bob) Shuff, Hutchinson; granddaughter, Rhylie (Jacob) Moore, Newton; and grandson, Jared Shuff, Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and six sisters, Florence, Gladys, Edna, Dorothy, Mildred, and Ida Mae.

Cremation has taken place. A private burial will occur at a later date.

Ronald Gene Cunningham, 80, formerly of McPherson, KS, Ellinwood, KS, and Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, surrounded by family at Pleasant View Home, Inman.&nbsp; He was an agronomist, working at Ohio State University and Kansas State University in the Agriculture Department.&nbsp; He retired from the Army National Guard.

Ron was born on August 5, 1942, in Winfield, KS, the son of Kedric Bogue and Virginia Nadine (Barnes) Cunningham.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School in 1960 and continued his education at Kansas State University.&nbsp;

He was a member of the American Legion and was also a Boy Scout leader.

On September 16, 1967, Ron was united in marriage to Mary Jo Hirsch in Ellinwood.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on January 30, 2022.

Survivors include: three sisters, Karen Base (Jonas) of McPherson, KS, Linda Gardner (William) of Ashland, OH, and Vicky Polreis (Gerald) of Nickerson, KS.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother John Cunningham.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood, KS.&nbsp;

Berta Lea “Bert” Newton, 91, died April 25, 2023, at Legend Senior Living, Hutchinson. She was born February 6, 1932, in Hutchinson, to Gilbert L. and Leora L. (Green) Dean.

Bert graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1950 and took classes at Hutchinson Community College, McPherson College, and Emporia State University. She was a librarian at Hutchinson Public Library for 25 years. Bert was a member of Carey Park Golf Association, Reno County Historical Society, Typographical Auxiliary, and First United Methodist Church. She was also an author and wrote, “Ghost Towns of Reno County.”

On July 28, 1951, Bert married Clyde E. Newton, in Hutchinson. He died August 6, 2005.

She is survived by: sons, Mark Newton (Becky) of Middlebury, CT, Randy Newton (Candie) of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Vici Newton of Maize; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl Dean (Janet) of Denver, CO, Gary Dean (Terry) of Wichita; and many extended family members.

Bert was preceded in death by: her parents; sons, Richard and Robert; and sister, Mary Lou Fiorillo.

Mike Eileen Robinson, 63, passed away April 23, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born September 13, 1959, in Wichita, KS, to Miguel Casanova, Sr. and Theodora (Thornton) Casanova.

Mike graduated from Wichita East High School, Wichita, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;She worked as a Medical Receivables Specialist at The Summit, Hutchinson, KS, and attended St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, KS.

Mike enjoyed working in her flower garden, listening to music, and shopping.&nbsp;&nbsp;She liked to cook and could make a ‘mean salsa’.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mike’s pride and joy was her family.&nbsp;&nbsp;She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

She worked as a purchasing manager at Vista Chemical in Oklahoma City, OK.

Joyce was born on March 15, 1939, in Lindsey, OK, the daughter of Clifton Hampton Blakley and Marjorie (Paxton) Blakley. On December 8, 1966, Joyce was united in marriage to Ronald Stuart Hall in Oklahoma.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on April 16, 2015.

Survivors include: daughters, Marcie Cottrell (Chris) of McPherson, KS and Sherry Hall of Effingham, IL, six grandchildren, Taylor Cup of Tecumseh, OK and his daughter, Reagan Renee Cup; Kyle Cottrell of McPherson, KS; Linda L. Green (Matt) of McPherson, KS and their children, Camaro and Chevelle Green; Rochelle Watson (Sank) of Tacoma, WA and their children, Leona Charlotte, Sadie Bradley, &amp; Josias Christian Watson; Damon Gillett of Effingham, IL and his son, Phoenix Gillett; Corey Gillett of Vandalia, IL and his children, Erica, Makenzie, Haley, and Ryker Gillett; cousins, Nona Beth Silvia Berkey and Ronny Gifford; and many other extended family and friends.

Jerrine Faye Bonham, 76, of Oklahoma City, died April 25, 2023, in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born December 27, 1946, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Lyle and Frankie (Corgill) Posvic.

Jerrine graduated from Ardmore High School in 1965 and attended Harding University for a year before getting married. She later earned her associates degree from Hutchinson Community College in 2004. Jerrine worked for many years for USD 308 as a para educator and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, where she was very involved. Jerrine served as the cook for Silver Maple Camp for 31 years. She was a great cook and a master of crochet. Jerrine’s true joys were working with children and helping others.

On August 18, 1967, she married Larry Dwight Bonham, in Lawton, Oklahoma. They shared 33 years of marriage before he passed on December 12, 2000.

Jerrine is survived by daughter, Stacey Kaye Bonham, Edmond, Oklahoma; and son, Bradley Allen Bonham (Joanna) of Hutchinson, and numerous family and friends whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Larry; daughter, Michelle Faye; and two brother, Frank and Tim Posvic.

Funeral service will be 10 am Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson. Burial will follow at 2 pm in Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony, Kansas. Friends may call from 9 am to 8 pm on Friday with family present from 6 to 8 pm at Elliott Mortuary.

Mary was a St. John resident for 85 years and worked as a Dillons produce manager and for the St. John School cafeteria. On Oct. 12, 1985 she married Gary Green in Las Vegas, NV. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. John. 

Mary is survived by daughters, Wanda (Jim) Golding, Yukon, OK, Sheryl (Danny) Smiley, Bushton, KS; a brother, Ed Alvis, Burlington, KS; sisters, Barbara (Jim) Heusner, El Dorado, KS, Peggy (Stan) MacGirvin, Hutchinson, KS; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

VernaBelle Rose Forsberg, 100, of Lindsborg passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Bethany Home of Lindsborg, KS.  VernaBelle was born October 11, 1922 in Roxbury, KS. She is the daughter of the late Francis and the late Sarah (Hesher) Hene.  

VernaBelle graduated high school and worked awhile as an office assistant.  She was also a mother and homemaker.  She was a member of Assaria Lutheran Church.  VernaBelle was the widow of the late Marion K. Norland and Glenn E. Forsberg. 

Survivors include her sons: Craig Forsberg of Assaria, KS and Gene Forsberg (Peggy) of Boyle, KS; sister-in-law: Ruth “Dolly” Nelson of Lindsborg, KS ; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

VernaBelle is preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; brothers: Ivan Henne and Milan Henne; sister: Delilah Ingram; sons: Lyle Norland and Gary Forsberg; and grandson: Luke Forsberg.

Marlene Ann Marquez, 77, of Buhler, died April 22, 2023, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community. She was born November 19, 1945, in Smith Center.

Marlene graduated from Kensington High School in 1963 and from Hastings Beauty College in 1964. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a cosmetologist and provided child care in her home for many years. Marlene enjoyed sewing, especially quilting, gardening and playing Bunco. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

On June 13, 1965, Marlene married Cecil Marquez, in Kensington. He died May 17, 2016.

She is survived by: her daughters, Gina McConnell (Jeff) of Hutchinson, Jody Burnett (Darren) of Andover, Mindy Swensen of Bel Aire; grandchildren, Clay McConnell (Lauren) of Haysville, Casey McConnell (Mariah) of South Hutchinson, Megan Burnett of Andover, Kaden, Karsen, and Keaton Scheuler of Bel Aire; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Chloe, and Jett McConnell; sisters, Linda Rice (Sam) of Athol, Cathy Bronson (Donald) of Smithville, MO; brother, William Struckhoff (Jane) of Kensington; and many extended family members.

Anna Ruzhanovska-Garcia, 39, of Hutchinson, died April 17, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. She was born April 3, 1984, in Cherkasy, Ukraine, to Vladimir and Vera Ruzhanovsky.

Anna graduated from high school in Detroit, Michigan, received two bachelor’s degrees from Wichita State University, and was working on a master’s degree from WSU. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed cooking and interior decorating. Anna was active in the Ukrainian Club of Wichita.

On May 24, 2020, Anna married Anthony L. “Tony” Garcia, in Hutchinson. He survives.

Also surviving are: her children, Emma Ruzhanovska, Dominic Garcia; stepson, Zayden Garcia; father, Vladimir Ruzhanovsky of Cherkasy, Ukraine; mother, Vera Ruzhanovska of Spain; sister, Kristina Ruzhanovska of Spain; brother, Igor Ocherednyi of Cherkasy, Ukraine;&nbsp;mother-in law, Shannon Garcia-Johnson; father-in law, Jon Johnson; brother in-law, Nicholas Garcia and his wife, Ashton, and their children; brother in-law, Chad Garcia and his wife, Anika Cohen, and their children, all of Hutchinson;&nbsp;and many extended family members.

Tom was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on July 11, 1943. He graduated from Valley Center High School and Wichita State University (Go Shockers!). Former Business owner and purchasing agent in Wichita, KS, Maryland &amp; Virginia. He enjoyed fishing, nature, reading and most importantly his ultimate passion, Wichita State Shocker everything!

Tom is survived by his wife Kathy and sons, Vance (Iris) and Shannon (Melissa). He is also survived by his brothers Charles (Constance), James (Sandy) and Walter (Sherrie) and grandchildren Chrissy (Gabe), Dylan, Ashton (Megan) and Victoria (Brandon) and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Freda Lorraine and his sister Carolyn Jane Campbell.

Robert W. "Robb" Mitchell, 50, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2023. He was born March 17, 1973, in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Robert Dean and Janice Lynn (Carlock) Mitchell.

Robb graduated from Zion Benton High School in Zion, Illinois and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas. He was employed as a Criminal Court Clerk by the Shawnee County District Court.

Survivors include his domestic partner of 12 years, Douglas Jones of Topeka, KS; sister, Kimber (Royal) Mellinger of McPherson, KS; and nine nieces and nephews, Doralynn, Nickolai, Tyler, Gavin, Tommie, Hailee, Luke, Tzeitel and Josh; his aunt and uncle that were like second parents to Robb, Joyce and Bill Stein of Illinois; and other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 29, with a memorial service to begin at 4:00 PM at the Topeka Wanamaker SDA Church, 2435 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka.

A second visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, May 1, at Stockham Family Funeral Home, 205 N Chestnut St, McPherson.

Mary Anna Green, age 93, passed away on Monday, Apr. 24, 2023, at Kenwood Plaza, St. John, KS. She was born on June 3, 1929, in Nashville, TN., the daughter of Ralph and Stella (Craft) Alvis. 

Mary was a St. John resident for 85 years and worked as a Dillons produce manager and for the St. John School cafeteria. On Oct. 12, 1985 she married Gary Green in Las Vegas, NV. 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. John. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Gary and both parents.

Roger Leighton Roots, 77, passed away April 24, 2023, after a brief illness, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He is now reunited with the love of his life for over 54 years, Mary.

Roger was born December 4, 1945, in Hutchinson, to Clarence Albert “Bill” and Mildred Isabel (Copeland) Roots.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1962, received his bachelor’s degree from Sterling College, and his master’s degree from Friends University. Roger served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970.

&nbsp;For over 25 years, he was a middle school science teacher for USD 308.&nbsp;&nbsp;Roger was also a decorated Eagle Scout.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and volunteering for the Bureau of Land Management in Wyoming and Montana.&nbsp;&nbsp;Roger’s faith and family were paramount in his life.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was known for giving his time, talent, and resources to help those less fortunate.&nbsp;&nbsp;Roger was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;They were the apple of his eye.&nbsp;&nbsp;For many years, he and Mary attended Crossroads Christian Church, and most recently, he was attending Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, with his family.

On March 18, 1967, he married Mary Arnelda Glass, in South Hutchinson.&nbsp;&nbsp;She died February 17, 2021.

Roger is survived by:&nbsp;&nbsp;children, Samuel Roots of Hutchinson (Jules Pitchford) of Colorado, Matthew Roots (Tricia) of Inman, and Katie Roots of New York, NY; grandchildren, Riley Roots, Jayden Roots, and Sterling Roots; sister-in-law, Patricia People; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by:&nbsp;&nbsp;his parents; wife, Mary; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Frank Fee; brother-in-law, Frank Peoples; and niece, Carolyn Fee.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Bethel Mennonite Church, 256 8th&nbsp;Avenue, Inman, with his son, Matthew Roots and Pastor Bob Yates officiating. Military honors will be conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cremation has taken place.

Frank N. Blodgett, 84, passed peacefully, after a short illness, surrounded by family on Saturday, April 22, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;Frank was born March 2, 1939, in Great Bend, to Kenneth R. and Evelyn G. Blodgett.&nbsp; Frank lived in Claflin until his family moved to Hutchinson when he was a young boy.&nbsp;&nbsp; He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1957, and attended Hutchinson Community College and Kansas State University.&nbsp;

Frank married Sara Sue Bowles on November 24, 1962, in Hutchinson. After marriage, Frank and Sara moved to Frank’s farm in Arlington, where they raised their three daughters and lived for 55 years before retiring and moving to Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Frank is survived by: his wife of almost 61 years, Sara; daughters, Sara Weathers (Terry), Carrie Venezia, and Molly Williams (Michael), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Emily Reed (Tyler) of Great Bend, Erin Givens (Kassidy), Lane Williams, and Lexi Williams, all of Hutchinson; and three great- grandchildren, Cooper and Cohen Givens and Jensen Reed.

&nbsp;As a young farmer, Frank was given an award for his efforts in soil conservation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Later in life, he served on the Reno County Conservation Board for twelve years. After retiring from farming, Frank followed in his father’s footsteps and became a realtor and worked for Oswald Real Estate for many years.

&nbsp;Frank was a true family man and always a good friend.&nbsp;&nbsp;He treasured spending time with his family and special friends in the mountains of New Mexico. He enjoyed shooting trap with family and his fishing trips with “the guys”.&nbsp;&nbsp;Frank’s big heart touched the lives of many.

Mary Kathryn (Yoder) Stucky, 95, died April 23, 2023. She was born June 29, 1927, to Eli T. and Ida (Plank) Yoder. She was raised on farms in the Hesston area, and in high school the family resided at a farm a few miles northwest of Walton. She attended Hesston Academy, and graduated from Walton High School in 1946. She attended Bethel College two years where she met Ransom Stucky. Ransom and Mary Kathryn were married in the Bethel College chapel on October 24, 1948.

They established a dairy farm in western Harvey County. Mary Kathryn raised a large family, a big garden, and farmed together with Ransom for many years. They were members of the First Mennonite Church of Christian in Moundridge. In 1997, Ransom and Mary Kathryn moved to Pine Village independent living in Moundridge. Ransom passed away March 14, 2011.

Ransom and Mary Kathryn had five children, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Children are Diana F. Graber (Charles) of Newton, Clinton D. Stucky (Kim Lockwood) of Wichita, Brian D. Stucky (Nancy) of Goessel, Annette K. Epp (Don) of Buhler and Janice L. Hershberger (Dale) of Clay Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Arnold Yoder, Lawrence Yoder, and Dr. Vernon Yoder.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2023 with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moundridge Funeral Home. Daniel Wayne ‘Danny’ Burdette, 64, died April 23, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born January 11, 1959, in Hutchinson, to Ralph and Alice (Thomas) Burdette.

Danny married Maryland Franklin D. “Frankie” Witt on July 17, 1996. They were married 26 years, though they were together for over 31 years prior to his death.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from May of 1977 to December 2, 1982. Following Danny’s time in the service, he worked for Sonoco for 41 years as a machine tender.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Danny is survived by: his wife, Frankie Burdette; two brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Burdette and Christopher Burdette; three sisters, Carrolyn (Danny) Miller, Kathryn Winkler, and Linda Burdette; and many nieces and nephews.

Danny was preceded in death by: his parents; nephew, Jonathan Winkler; and brother-in-law, Stephen Winkler.

He has been cremated. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

He was born January 11, 1959, in Hutchinson, to Ralph and Alice (Thomas) Burdette.Danny married Maryland Franklin D. “Frankie” Witt on July 17, 1996. They were married 26 years, though they were together for over 31 years prior to his death.He served in the United States Marine Corps from May of 1977 to December 2, 1982. Vila Marie Cooper, 81, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023, surrounded by family at Salina Regional Health Center.

Throughout her life, she cooked for the McPherson High School and the McPherson Senior Center.&nbsp; Many might have known her also while working at Daylight Donuts in McPherson.

She was born on January 26, 1942, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Harold and Opal (Harder) Lafferty.&nbsp; She grew up on a farm outside of Inman, KS.&nbsp; She graduated from Windom High School in 1960.&nbsp; On November 25, 1961, Vila was united in marriage to Robert Cooper at the Andover Lutheran Church in Windom, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters, Kay and Patti.

She was a member of Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors of America.

Vila enjoyed cooking for the entire family for birthdays and holidays.&nbsp; Her specialty being fried chicken.&nbsp; She also enjoyed collecting owls and would tell everyone, “No two are alike!”&nbsp;&nbsp; In earlier years, she enjoyed family vacations with the kids and in later years, she and Bob traveled on their own.&nbsp; Above all, Vila loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kay Graham and husband, Jerry, of McPherson, KS and Patti Cooper of McPherson, KS; her brothers, Keith Lafferty of Inman, KS and Bob Lafferty of Bishop, GA; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Bob in 2022; her parents; brother, Jim Lafferty; and sisters, Doris Richards and Sharon Lafferty.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 28, 2023, at the McPherson Cemetery.

Rowena Arlene Turner, 96, passed away April 20, 2023, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born December 22, 1926, in Neosho Falls, KS, the daughter of Leo and Myrtle Brammer Skinner.

She was a school secretary but found her true passion teaching stained glass. She enjoyed that for over 20 years. She was a member of Garden City Methodist Church. While residing in Inman, she enjoyed attending services at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ.

Rowena married Melvin Turner on December 28, 1943, in Rocky Ford, CO. He passed away in 2003.

Survivors include daughter, Melva (James) Barlow, Inman, KS; a sister, Carol (Bill) Manion, Topeka, KS; grandchildren, J. Scott (Janet) Barlow, Mark (Dorothy) Baier, Mel (Ashley) Baier, Ryan (Chevese) Turner, and Lindsay Turner; and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Baier; one son, Michael Turner; one sister; three brothers; and one grandchild, Sean Barlow.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Inman Funeral Home, Inman, KS. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
