Thelma Mae Chancellor passed away peacefully May 4, 2023, at the Legends Assisted Living facility, Hutchinson, KS at the age of 81 from Parkinson Disease.&nbsp; Thelma was the youngest of five, born September 12, 1941, to parents Charley and Elsie (Dibben) Debenham, rural Abilene, KS.&nbsp;

Attending local one room schools in the Industry community during her childhood. Thelma graduated from Dickinson County Community High School, Chapman, KS in 1959.&nbsp;

Marrying Oron Ronald Travis January 15, 1960, and had a son and daughter from this union. Thelma started her career at Southwestern Bell Company in Abilene, KS as a telephone operator. Relocating to Salina in 1980, after the SWBC offices closed in Abilene. Due to an unexpected death Thelma’s first marriage ended October 19, 1994. Continuing to work until her retirement and 40 years of service, March 17, 2000.

Thelma met and married James Chancellor and relocated to Hutchinson, KS marrying November 6, 1999.&nbsp; Thelma was a member of Telephone Pioneers and Westside Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Sojourners Sunday School Class within the church. Thelma was fond of cooking and baking everything homemade, especially her grandkids’ favorite cookies.&nbsp; She enjoying making homemade strawberry ice cream.&nbsp;

Preceded in death by: her parents; first husband; brothers, Harold Debenham and Cecil Debenham, sister, Darlene (Debenham) Drouin; two step-daughters, Stacie Schlittenhardt, and Laura Hoffman.

Survivors include: her husband, James; son, Randall Travis, Abilene; daughter, Rhonda (Travis) Garcia, Salina; grandchildren, Christopher (Gracie) Garcia, Charlottesville, VA, Gina (Jacob) Rush, Shawnee, Jennifer Dechant, Denver, CO, and Amy Tonthat, Waco, TX; step-daughter, Janice (Tommy) Murphy, Wichita; sister, Ruby French, Abilene; and many other extended family members, friends and neighbors.&nbsp;

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Minneapolis Cemetery, Minneapolis, KS.

Raymond “Ray” Kauffman, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. Ray was born on June 28, 1939, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of David J. and Elizabeth (Headings) Kauffman. Ray graduated from Haven High School. On January 27, 1961, he married Diane Sutton in Hutchinson, to this union they were blessed with three children, Scott, Kim, and D.J. Ray was owner of Sutton-Kauffman Transmission and retired after 47 years. Ray was a long time member of the Nazarene Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Raymond Scott Kauffman; sister, Janice Huyard, and niece, Glenda Darby. Ray is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Kimberly Diane (Jess) Easdon; son, David Jon (Cheryl) Kauffman, all of Hutchinson; five siblings, Betty Bentch of Holts Summit, MO, Glen (Freda) Kauffman, Willis (Thelma) Kauffman both of South Hutchinson, Barbara (Lee) Hochstetler of Elkhart, IN, Sheryl (Russ) Stucky of Moundridge; seven grandchildren, Colton (Sarah) Easdon, Charlie (Rachel) Easdon, Cyla Easdon, Sam (Sidnee) Kauffman, Lindsey Kauffman, Kaylee Kauffman and Avery Kauffman; three great grandchildren, Abigail and Josiah Easdon and Presslee Kauffman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond “Ray” Kauffman |1939-2023|

Leslie Green, 90, died February 28, 2023, at his daughter’s home in Albuquerque, NM.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born June 12, 1932, in Lenapah, OK, to Willis Ray and Susie Belle (Shufeldt) Green.

Leslie served in the United States Army and was called to duty in the Korean War in Battery A: 145th&nbsp;Anti-Artillery Battalion, 45th&nbsp;Infantry “Thunderbird” Division.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a citizen of the Shawnee and Cherokee Tribe and a life member of the VFW. In Leslie’s early years, he worked at Collingwood Grain Elevator.&nbsp;&nbsp;He then found his career path working for Blick Sales and retiring with City Beverage. Everyone seemed to know and love him.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leslie enjoyed taking walks and met practically everyone in the neighborhood. He was especially fond of playing card games and could sit for hours playing his favorite game, “Domino’s”.

On November 22, 1952, he married Pauline Emmajean “Jeanne” Frantz, in Lenapah, OK, and they shared over 70 years of marriage. Leslie and Jeanne settled in Hutchinson, Kansas where they raised two daughters (Lesley and Sandra) before moving to Partridge, KS where they retired. Unfortunately, illnesses began in 2014, which required they move to live with their daughter, Sandy and son-in-law, Gary in Albuquerque, NM.

Leslie is survived by: his loving wife, Jeanne Green; daughter, Sandy and Gary Guerrero, all of Albuquerque, NM; his grandson, Cody McAdams, Cody’s wife Bree and his great-grand-daughters, Jaidence, Colbi and Paxton of Maricopa, AZ; his twin brother Lawrence Green of Vanita, OK; and sister, Carolyn Foster of Lenapah, OK.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Bill and Susie; a sister, Carol Faye Green; and eldest daughter, Lesley J. Hiebert.

Gretchen Kay Theisen-Halpain, 85, died May 3, 2023, surrounded by her daughters and son-in-law.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born August 10, 1937, in El Paso, TX, and raised by Karl and Gladys (Stewart) von Metzradt.

Gretchen enjoyed working in retail sales, with cosmetics as her specialty.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling (especially when she was a military wife).&nbsp;&nbsp;Gretchen was a member of Countryside Baptist Church, and looked forward to the weekly Bible studies at the church.

On October 2, 1976, she married John L. Theisen, in Wichita. He died July 16, 1997.&nbsp;&nbsp;On June 25, 2016, she married Charles Duane Halpain.&nbsp;&nbsp;He died July 20, 2018.

Gretchen is survived by:&nbsp;&nbsp;daughters, Sadie “Robin”&nbsp;&nbsp;Lawrence and husband Terry of Hutchinson; Pamala “Sue” Green and wife Cindy Servantez of Topeka; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sharon graduated from Anthony High School in 1961, and then attended Kansas State University to study elementary education. She met Don while in Manhattan. She finished her degree at McPherson College after moving to the farm. She enjoyed farming with Don and their son Brad. Sharon and Don also enjoyed square dancing, where they met some of their best friends. Sharon was a member of the Starlight Square Dance Club, a co-founder of the Inman Booster Club, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a big K-State fan and enjoyed attending games with her family. Sharon was so proud that all her grandkids attended or plan to attend K-State. She loved watching her grandkids participate in sports and other activities. Sharon was known for her wonderful cooking and baking, especially her creative cakes that she made for family and friends. She loved gardening with her daughter Kim and her grandkids. The Grandkids Garden sold their produce at the Reno County Farmers Market for the last 13 years.

On July 18, 1964, Sharon married Donald Blank in Anthony. They shared 36 years of marriage before he passed on November 23, 2000.

She is survived by: daughter, Kim Manke (Jason), Hutchinson; son, Brad Blank (Cheri), Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Taylor and Jaron Manke, Kyler, Kolby, and Kendyn Blank.

Sharon was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Ronald Johnston; and husband, Don Blank.

Sharon Blank |1943-2023|

Marsha Anne (Miles) Parker, 69, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 28, 2023, in Sedgwick, Kansas.

She was born on January 5, 1954, in Karnak, Illinois to Ernest and Alma Marie McKinney Miles. She was the eighth of nine children. At ten years old, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at the local Methodist church.

She attended schools in Pulaski County and graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1972. During this time Ernest passed away in 1971. From 1972 to 1974 she attended Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois where she graduated with a degree in Secretarial Science.

She bought her first car, a red Plymouth Duster in 1974. She and her family moved to Gates, Tennessee in 1976. She worked as a secretary for a short while but then took a job at the Tupperware plant in Halls, Tennessee because she was excited to make a higher wage. In retrospect, she decided she was not fond of the increased workload, but she stayed until October of 1978.

On October 7,1978 at 24 years old, she married Rory Parker at their church in Nutbush, Tennessee. Nine months later July 14, 1979, Charity was born. Approximately 13 months afterwards, on August 26, 1980, Samuel was born. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1987 when she took a position as a teacher’s assistant at Haywood Elementary. On August 14, 1989, through some difficulty Rebekah was born. She was born four months early and the family would take weekend day trips to Memphis, Tennessee to visit the baby at the MED, the Regional Medical Center of Memphis until the baby was able to come home in December of 1989.

Marsha continued to work at Haywood Elementary until 2003. In June of 2003, her first grandchild, Joseph, was born making her a grandma.

In August of 2005, she and her family moved to Park City, Kansas. In 2009, she began attending National American University. She obtained a degree in Medical Billing and Coding and graduated in May 2013.

She enjoyed singing in church, reading, spending time with her family, eating lasagna, watching Star Trek, shopping for clothes, Christian music and Irish music like Celtic Woman. She didn’t enjoy the travel, but she enjoyed being on vacation once she arrived. She was always a very positive person with kind words to shower on those around her.

Preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Marie Miles, and her siblings- Ray Miles, Earlene Free, David Miles and Sharon Miles.

Survived by her husband, Rory Parker; children Charity Parker, Samuel Parker (Bethany) and Rebekah Parker; grandchildren Joseph (Emma), Aaron, Levi, EmmaKate, Lily and Sadie Parker; great granddaughter Ella Parker; siblings Francis Robinson (Esco), Donna Dobbs (Ron), Ron Miles (Dora), Bobby Miles (Crystal); many other family and friends.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, at Word Made Flesh Assembly, 136 N. Wichita Ave, Bentley, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;Graveside will follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 12010 W. 109th&nbsp;St. N., Bentley, Kansas.

 </figure>Marsha Anne (Miles) Parker, 69, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 28, 2023, in Sedgwick, Kansas.She was born on January 5, 1954, in Karnak, Illinois to Ernest and Alma Marie McKinney Miles. She was the eighth of nine children. At ten years old, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at the local Methodist church.She attended schools in Pulaski County and graduated from Carbondale Community High School in 1972. During this time Ernest passed away in 1971. From 1972 to 1974 she attended Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois where she graduated with a degree in Secretarial Science.She bought her first car, a red Plymouth Duster in 1974. She and her family moved to Gates, Tennessee in 1976. She worked as a secretary for a short while but then took a job at the Tupperware plant in Halls, Tennessee because she was excited to make a higher wage. In retrospect, she decided she was not fond of the increased workload, but she stayed until October of 1978.On October 7,1978 at 24 years old, she married Rory Parker at their church in Nutbush, Tennessee. Nine months later July 14, 1979, Charity was born. Approximately 13 months afterwards, on August 26, 1980, Samuel was born. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1987 when she took a position as a teacher’s assistant at Haywood Elementary. On August 14, 1989, through some difficulty Rebekah was born. She was born four months early and the family would take weekend day trips to Memphis, Tennessee to visit the baby at the MED, the Regional Medical Center of Memphis until the baby was able to come home in December of 1989.Marsha continued to work at Haywood Elementary until 2003. In June of 2003, her first grandchild, Joseph, was born making her a grandma.In August of 2005, she and her family moved to Park City, Kansas. In 2009, she began attending National American University. She obtained a degree in Medical Billing and Coding and graduated in May 2013.She enjoyed singing in church, reading, spending time with her family, eating lasagna, watching Star Trek, shopping for clothes, Christian music and Irish music like Celtic Woman. She didn’t enjoy the travel, but she enjoyed being on vacation once she arrived. She was always a very positive person with kind words to shower on those around her.Preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Marie Miles, and her siblings- Ray Miles, Earlene Free, David Miles and Sharon Miles.Survived by her husband, Rory Parker; children Charity Parker, Samuel Parker (Bethany) and Rebekah Parker; grandchildren Joseph (Emma), Aaron, Levi, EmmaKate, Lily and Sadie Parker; great granddaughter Ella Parker; siblings Francis Robinson (Esco), Donna Dobbs (Ron), Ron Miles (Dora), Bobby Miles (Crystal); many other family and friends.Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, at Word Made Flesh Assembly, 136 N. Marsha Anne (Miles) Parker |1954-2023|

Mary Jane Barton, age 57, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at her Valley Center residence. She was born October 5, 1965, in Iola, Kansas to Herbert and Lorna (Siefker) Dolen.

Mary Jane graduated from Marmaton Valley High School in 1984. After high school,&nbsp; she attended Allen County Community College where she graduated in 1986 and then finished her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wichita State University in 1988. She worked at Pepsi and Pizza Hut Corporation while in college. Mary Jane passed her CPA exam in 1991. She worked at Ascension Via Christi for 32 years and was currently a Finance Analytics Manager. She also loved doing taxes and would help people during tax season as time allowed.

On May 26, 1990, she married Roger Barton in Iola, Kansas. Mary Jane and Roger shared almost 33 years together. In the early years of their marriage prior to having children, Mary Jane and Roger spent a lot of time traveling in the U.S. with their goal to visit all 50 states together. Before her passing they had visited 39 states together with the last family vacation in 2021 going to New York and New Jersey.

Mary Jane was a woman of great faith and a member of Central Christian Church in Wichita, KS where she attended and served in the children’s programs such as AWANA and VBS. Her favorite title and one she held dearly to her was being a mother and grandmother. She was a devout mother and ensured she raised her children well and for the Lord in addition to giving them a wonderful childhood. In her spare time, Mary Jane enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, and playing games like Yahtzee, Scrabble and Nertz with her family. You could count on Mary Jane eating tomato sandwiches for lunch during the summer and have family game nights regularly. Mary Jane was a highly creative and thoughtful person and would regularly go out of her way to take care and love on those around her. She always found so much joy in bringing happiness to her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband Roger; daughter Kayla (Caleb) Claussen; 3 sons Jarrett, Derek, and Isaac Barton; brother Don Dolen; 3 sisters Lorna Ludlum, Dianne Kauth and Donna Stucky. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren Sadie and Sage Claussen.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lorna Dolen and grandparents, A.W. and Hilda Siefker who raised Mary Jane since she was 4 years old.

A private family graveside service was held at the Valley Center Cemetery on Wednesday, May 3rd. A Celebration of Life for Mary Jane will take place on May 26th, 2023, from 2-4 pm at Riverlawn Christian Church in the Fireside Room. The address is 4243 N Meridian Ave, Wichita, KS 67204.

Victoria Lee O’neal, 49, died May 4, 2023, at her residence in Hutchinson. She was born April 9, 1974, in Hutchinson, to Michael Dennis and Patricia Lee (Patterson) O’neal.

She was a Hutchinson High School graduate in 1993. Later on, she attended Hutchinson Community College, where she earned her paralegal degree in 2002. Victoria worked for Kroger as a data entry specialist for several years.

Victoria was an avid reader and even had her own book collection, she also enjoyed online gaming and 3-D printing. Anyone that knew Victoria, knows that she loved to question anybody’s authority. She was a beloved daughter, mother, and grandmother and there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.

Victoria is survived by: her daughter, Reghan O’neal and her partner, Daniel Simmons, who Victoria saw as a son; parents, Michael and Patricia O’neal; grandsons, Ryden O’neal and Dorian Simmons; brothers, Matthew, Jason, and Shaun O’neal; sisters, Taryn O’neal and Bethany Guerrero; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: both her O’neal grandparents and Patterson grandparents.

Jewelene A. Cole, 61, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS. She was born June 18, 1961 in Elkhart, IN to Dorothy (Miller) Moorehead.

Jewelene attended Sebring High School in Sebring, FL and graduated in 1979. She then attended McPherson College. She also met the love of her life in McPherson and married Robert E. Cole on July 6, 1985 in Sebring, FL. Jewelene was a member of the Community Church of the Brethren and served as a deacon there for many years. Her favorite hobbies were crafting, painting, sewing, and camping.

Jewelene is survived by her husband, Robert of Hutchinson, KS; mother, Dotty Moorehead of Zephyrhills, FL; two sons, Ben (Kim) Cole and Eric Cole, both of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Talia (Joshua) Menter of Lincoln, NE; brother Paul Anglemyer of Brandon, FL; and five grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Mia, Alexis, Levi, Evan, and Laurelin.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no services held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Jan Hannon Thomas, 81, The Highlands, passed away peacefully Oct. 22, 2022, at Hospice House- Hutchinson and is now home with the Lord and loved ones who went before her.&nbsp; She was born June 6, 1941, in Ft. Worth, TX, to Russell and Wanna Bee (Harris) Hannon.

Jan graduated from RL Paschal High School in Ft. Worth, TX, attended Christian College- Columbia, MO, and graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s in education.

On November 4, 1961, Jan married David Thomas in Ft. Worth, TX.&nbsp; They shared almost 61 years together.&nbsp; Dave worked for Sears which lead to the family moving frequently.&nbsp; Jan worked a variety of jobs and managed the home in every new town!&nbsp; Her all-time favorite job was working for the Chamber of Commerce in Derby, KS.&nbsp; She was active in the Hutchinson Women’s Christian Club, volunteered at Hospice House- Hutchinson for many years, played golf with the Hooters Night Golf group and gin rummy with Highland residents, was a part of a cancer support group and loved to travel, cook, go to casinos, be with family and friends and her pets. &nbsp;

Jan is survived by: her husband, David of Hutchinson; sons Scott (Janet) Thomas of Aubrey,TX, and Stephen Thomas of Hutchinson; daughter Lisa Thomas of Overland Park; grandchildren Jake (Sarah) Boyd, Amie Boyd, Seth Thomas, and Callie Thomas; and great-grandchildren Ryder, Norah, and Michael; and several nieces and nephews..

Jerry Dean Wiens, 67, passed away in his home on Friday, April 28, 2023. He was born January 27, 1956 in Newton, Kansas to Jacob and Martha (Schroeder) Wiens of Buhler. He attended Buhler schools and graduated from Buhler High School in 1974.

He found a love for music in high school and played the trumpet for many years. He was also frequently involved in church music ministry, blessing many with the songs he would sing as well as his trumpet playing. Jerry was employed in various work settings during his lifetime. He initially worked at Sears and then spent several years at Davis Lumber where he became interested in construction. He enjoyed seeing projects come together and worked with several construction companies, most recently HIEB &amp; Associates where he had been employed since 2013. He was a hard worker and was always excited to see a job come together and be done well.

He also spent several years in ministry at Westside Baptist Church, touching many lives in his work as a youth pastor. He loved sharing the message of God’s love and salvation and often went above and beyond to inspire others to follow Christ. He enjoyed making sure the youth group had opportunities to learn more about God and have fun in the process. He also touched many lives during his time teaching at Central Christian High School. He taught Bible class and was passionate about the opportunity to share more about God with the students and faculty he worked with. He would often challenge his students to find answers in the Bible and to walk with God in a way that would make a difference in, not only their lives, but the lives of others.

In 1978, he married Roxanne Mandeville and they had two children, Brandi and Andrew, before divorcing in 2000. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time together. He also loved playing basketball, working on cars, celebrating the holidays with family, and his laugh was often heard most vibrant while enjoying homemade zwieback and a game of dominos with his siblings in Buhler.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Allen Wiens.

He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Brandi Wiens and her two children, Trevor and Chloe Cooper, of Hutchinson; son Andrew (Emily) Wiens and their son Wolfgang, of Lenexa; sisters Donna (Barry) Dick of Wichita and Janice (Vernon) Overman of Newton; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Cremation is planned. Memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the Central Christian School, 1910 E 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.

Karen A. Lynch, 69, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at her home in Pretty Prairie, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born May 24, 1953 to Benny O. and Jacqueline (Mayfield) Williams in San Diego, CA.

Karen graduated from Grossmont High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;She made Windfield, Kansas her home in 1998, where she worked as a bus aide for 10 years for USD 465.&nbsp;&nbsp;Karen knew no strangers and had a love for animals.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Benny O. and Jackie; a brother, Benny M. Williams; and the father of her children, James Lynch.

She is survived by her sister, Kathy Bann; her two daughters, MeLyssa Melvin and Chancey Lynch; her son, Ian Lynch; 8 nieces and nephews, Ronnie Lynn, April, Amy, Brandon, Charlie, Angie, Mitchell, and Jackie; and her 8 grandchildren, Kyla, Aiden, Draven, Anthony, Mila, Liam, Isaiah, and Avion.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be scheduled for a later date. Hutchinson Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Vickie Lynn Huxman (Youk) was born in Goessel, Kansas on February 17, 1954 the youngest of seven children to Leland and Lorene Youk and entered eternal life on May 2, 2023. After her fathers death, Lorene married Harry Laubhan and from that relationship Vickie gained another sister. Vickie grew up on a small farm close to the Marion Reservoir between Marion and Hillsboro, Kansas. She attended school in Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1972.

Vickie married Bruce Martens in 1972 and they had two children, Jason Martens and Jenny Dricsoll. In 1998, she married Doug Huxman.

In her spare time, she loved working with her flowers and attending grandkids many events. She also loved to attend Flea Markets with her siblings and when they couldn’t go, she coerced Doug into going. She also loved to travel, especially places that had the reputation of being haunted. She was also fortunate to visit Europe twice. Anyone that knew her also new that she was infatuated with the Beatles and had an entire room at home dedicated to the Beatles. One of the last concerts she attended was a concert in Wichita that featured one of the members of the Beatles, Paul McCartney.

Most of all she loved and cherished each and every member of her family and spending time with them. They will all remember her constant smile, gentle nature, and spirit of generosity, but most of all, they will miss her love. Though she is not with us anymore, none of us will ever consider her gone because, for each of us, her memory lingers on and she will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Vickie was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro where over the years she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.

In 2016, Vickie was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA) which robbed her of the ability to communicate. In time she also lost her ability to take care of herself and eventually came to depend on others. She became a resident of Newton Presbyterian Manor in 2020 where she remained until her death.

Vickie was preceded in death by her father, Leland Youk; mother, Lorene Laubhan and step-father, Harry Laubhan; sisters, Carolyn (Leon) Schmidt and Linda (Terry) Shaw; and brother Gaylen (Betty) Youk.

She is survived by her husband Doug Huxman; daughter Jenny (Pat) Driscoll; grandsons Dayton (Brianna) Stucky and Parker Schultz and great-granddaughter Oakley Stucky; son Jason Martens and his friend Lynda Karseboom; her sisters Shirley Carstens; Margie (J.B.) Geisler; Sharon (Gerald) Kelsey; Laurie (Tom) Koslowsky; stepsons Chris (Jamie) Huxman and Brian (Cori) Huxman and their children. She will be missed by her extended family and all her friends that touched her life as well.

Beverly Kay Baker, 70, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at her home in Inman. She was born June 10, 1952, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Donald F. and Doris L. Martin Phillips. She was a graduate of Nickerson High School and had gotten her business degree from Adale Hale Business College, Hutchinson.

Beverly had worked for Walmart for several years and most recently for Primetime Convenience Store in Inman for several years before retiring. She was a member of the Buhler Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Meinhardt, Tucson, AZ; a brother, Michael Bradford; 4 grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Hainkel and a granddaughter, Shania Elizabeth Baker.

Cremation is planned. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 8, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Inman Funeral Home.

Patrick “Gordy” Torres 60, died April 27, 2023 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, Illinois.&nbsp; He was born July 1, 1962 in Newton, Kansas to Felix and Kathleen (Martinez) Torres. His parents preceded him in death.

On October 6, 2018 he married Leslie Marshno at Topeka, Kansas and she survives of the home.

Patrick was active in the Mexican-American Softball Tournament in Newton and played catcher for several years. He had a love of all sports and could often be found in his favorite chair cheering on his teams, especially his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. One of Patrick’s other favorite past times was spending time at is favorite casinos. He was a lover of music and especially enjoyed old school live concerts. He loved to share time with his kids at various venues and fairs enjoying music. His family was very important to him and he looked forward to spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids and following their activities.

He is survived by his wife Leslie of the home; sons Felix Torres and Eliseo (Miranda) Torres; daughter Ana Alicia Torres (Andrew Jaso); brothers Vincent “Barney” Torres; Pedro “PeeWee” Torres and Alex Torres; sisters Cecilia “Nini” Llamas; Victoria “Vicky” Torres and Rosalinde “Rosie” Torres. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton with The Reverend Jorge Lopez presiding. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton and the family will receive friends at the church following Rosary. Robert ‘Bob’ Harold Plotner, 81, entered the Heavenly Kingdom on May 1, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; He was born May 10, 1941, in Thayer, KS, to Arthur William Plotner and Margretha Helena (Degenhardt) Plotner.

Bob was a 1960 graduate of Ingalls High School, Ingalls, KS, and attended Garden City Community College, Garden City, KS, until he had his first of two open heart surgeries at KU Medical Center. He was a semi truck driver for Gerber Oil Inc., Charleston, KS, hauling gas and diesel on many routes that included Hutchinson, KS, and Scott City, KS, for over 42 years. Along these many routes, he created many lifelong friends.

Bob married Sheryl Ann Murphy on August 18, 1968, in Stafford, KS.&nbsp; Sharing over 54 years of marriage, and a lifetime of memories.

One of his all time favorite activities was coaching his children’s sports teams.&nbsp; Bob made many lifetime connections through his coaching.&nbsp; He coached many winning teams spanning over years, and mentored many young individuals.&nbsp; Bob liked fishing and watching any kind of sports on television, especially Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and his KU Jayhawks. He spent many hours cheering on KU at&nbsp; Phog Allen Fieldhouse watching KU games with his family. Bob enjoyed adventuring with his lifelong friend, Vyrl, riding motorcycles to the east coast, west coast, Canada, and racing cars.&nbsp; He was “The Mechanic” and could often be found helping others, or working on a project car of his own.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Sheryl A. Plotner of Charleston/South Hutchinson, KS; son from a previous marriage, Robert D. Plotner and wife of Larned, KS; son, Jason S. (Carolyn Wehe) Plotner of Cape Coral, FL; and a daughter, MeLisa Ann (Efrain) Gonzalez of Olathe, KS; and his two beloved granddaughters which he loved spending time and joking with, Sara Breann Gonzalez and Abby R. Gonzalez.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bob was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Donald Plotner and Gerald Plotner; and sister, Evelyn Woodall.

Robert ‘Bob’ Harold Plotner |1941-2023|

At 6:40 a.m. May 1, 2023, Walter Ediger, 95, passed away to his new home in heaven, with his family by his side.  He left this world rejoicing, looking forward to meeting Jesus and joining his wife, Tena in their new home.  Walter was born April 12, 1928, in Meade, to Henry P. and Katie (Neufield) Ediger. 

He enjoyed working around vehicles, and was an automotive specialist for a body shop for many years.  Walter retired from State Farm Insurance, after 15 years of service. He enjoyed working on puzzles and anything to do with woodworking.  Walter would enter the Kansas State Fair periodically with his woodworking, and won numerous ribbons for his projects.  He was a member of Union Valley Bible Church.

On December 14, 1948, he married Tena Doerksen, in Meade.  They shared almost 71 years of marriage, before her death on October 27, 2019.

Walter is survived by:  daughter, Velva Miller (David); sons, Verlyn (Clyde) Ediger (Julie) and David Ediger (Tina); brother, Elden Ediger; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th St., Hutchinson, with Pastors Matt Chapin and Steve Hodgson officiating.  Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. at Countryside Bible Church Cemetery, Meade, KS.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Walter Ediger |1928-2023|

Harry Milton Nachtigal, 93, died April 28, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born January 13, 1930, in Buhler, to Peter Frank and Agatha (Wiens) Nachtigal.

Harry attended Newton High School. After high school, he purchased a Harley Davidson motorcycle, and participated in motorcycle shows with his friends. From 1951 to 1953, Harry served in the United States Army. Following his service during the Korean Conflict, Harry received his pilot’s license for small planes from Topeka, and his pilot’s license for larger planes in Fresno, CA.&nbsp;&nbsp;He volunteered with the civil air patrol, in Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;Harry’s employment was with the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman and brakeman.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also enjoyed writing poetry, hunting, fishing, and flying planes, especially with his grandsons.

In 1962, Harry accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and became a member of Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson. He was also a member of Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68.

On May 20, 1955, he married Emily Jane Jantz, in Emporia. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Arvada, CO.&nbsp;&nbsp;After residing in Colorado for 46 years, they moved back to Kansas.

Harry is survived by: his wife of almost 68 years, Emily Nachtigal of Hutchinson; daughters, Debra (Gordon) Smith of Holton and Connie (Jimmy) Wallace of Newton; daughter-in-law, Tammy (Kevin) Rouse of Wichita; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; niece, Becky (Bob) Davidson; and nephew, Kelly (Gale) Nachtigal, all of Newton; two granddaughters-in-law; and two great-grandchildren-in-law.&nbsp;&nbsp;Harry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Ronald Nachtigal; granddaughter, Katarina “Kate” Cofer; brother, Virgil Nachtigal and his wife Viola; niece, Randyln Nachtigal; and nephew, Lonny Nachtigal.

Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Buhler West Municipal Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m.at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th&nbsp;Street, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dorothy Ann Wheeler, 76, passed away April 28, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was born March 1, 1947, in Hutchinson, KS, to Isadore Frank Rohr and Mary Marie (Weiss) Rohr.

Dorothy was a 1965 graduate of Hutchinson High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was the owner and operator of a day care center.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dorothy spent hours and was very meticulous in taking care of the flower garden in memory of her son, David.

On September 3, 1966, Dorothy married James David Wheeler, in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;They shared over 56 years of marriage.

She is survived by:&nbsp;&nbsp;her husband, James David Wheeler; son, Donald Paul Wheeler; daughter, Joy Ann Wheeler; sister, Patricia (Duane) Redenbaugh; brother, Edward Rohr; and brother-in-law, Charles (Pamela) Wheeler.

Dorothy was preceded in death by:&nbsp;&nbsp;her parents; son, David Scott Wheeler; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Paul Bean passed&nbsp;away April 29th, 2023. 

He was born in Newton, KS April 15,1938 to Preston Charles (P.C.) Bean and Miriam Katherine Wilkerson Bean. He graduated from Newton High School and later married Carole Aileen Berger of Halstead and were later divorced.

He held a variety of jobs, later joining his father P.C. in running Bean Radio and TV in Newton. After his parents passed, he tried running the family farm for a while, but eventually returned to using his exceptional mechanical and troubleshooting skills, fixing electronic components and then branching out into appliance and HVAC work. He then worked for the City of Wichita a number of years as a Building Maintenance Engineer and finally moved to the same position with the Newton School District retiring there 20 years ago. He was also a veteran radio&nbsp;operator of the United States Naval Reserve.He enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to the lake with family and friends and spent winters at Lake Texoma until his health no longer made that possible. 

He is survived by sons Mick (Mary K) Bean, of rural Sedgwick KS, Dave (Lori) Bean of Newton KS, Matt (Tammy) Bean of Guymon OK, Jason Bean of rural Halstead KS and Chuck (Jennifer) Bean of rural Moundridge KS, 10 grandkids and 12 great grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris VanRossen and infant daughter Susan Bean.

A simple celebration of his life will be held at the Newton Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 120 W 5th St, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday May 5th.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kyle Nathan Buller was born January 12, 1978, at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge, KS, with a diagnosis of Spina Bifida and entered his Eternal Home after a courageous battle with cancer April 26, 2023.

Kyle spent his lifetime being more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus, emphasizing what he could do instead of what he could not do. He enthusiastically volunteered at the Inman Library, Pleasant View Home, Inman Grade School, Zoar Youth Group, Inman Community Events and others. He had two books and a poem published and was a graduate of Colorado Christian University. Most importantly though, he put his whole life in the hands of Jesus Christ, God the Son of God. His favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

He is survived by his parents, Neal and Anita Buller, Inman; siblings Jeff (Noel) Buller, Wichita, KS and Joni (Jeff) Walter, Elbing, KS; 5 nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as his fiancé Sherri Riley.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Adolph and Lorene Thiessen, and Dean and Evelyn Buller.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 1st from 5-7 PM at Zoar MB Church, Inman. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 2nd at Zoar Church Cemetery followed by the Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM at Zoar MB Church. Meal will follow. Dr. Laura Lee (Workman) Eells, 68, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.

Dr. Laura Eells was a member of the McPherson College faculty for 26 years and served as a Professor of Sociology, the department chair, and the academic dean.&nbsp; She retired in May of 2022. She was also &nbsp;the Assistant Professor of Sociology at Wichita State University and the Executive Director of the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center.

Laura was born on September 22, 1954, in Seward, NE, the daughter of Robert LeRoy “Jack” and Laura Bell (Snavely) Workman.&nbsp; She graduated from Seward High School in 1972 and received a PhD degree from the University of Nebraska.&nbsp; On November 22, 1979, Laura was united in&nbsp; marriage to Michael Allan Eells in Seward, NE. This union was blessed with a son, Dan.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Michael of the home; a son, Dan Eells (Elizabeth) of Newton, KS; a niece, Kris Finley (Aaron) of Lincoln, NE; a great-niece, Morgan Finley of Lincoln, NE; a great-nephew, Logan Finley of Lincoln, NE; and many friends.
