Jason ‘Jay’ Charles Faris, 28, died February 14, 2023, at his residence in Wichita, KS.&nbsp; He was born January 8, 1995, in Lyons, KS, to Jason James Faris and Jacqueline (McCutcheon) Faris.

Jay graduated from Hutchinson High School in 2015.&nbsp; After graduation, he moved to Wichita, KS, where he attended church because he had a tremendous faith in God.

Jay was a loving and devoted father, son, brother, and friend.&nbsp; He was an outgoing person who made friends very easily and he never knew a stranger.&nbsp; Anyone who met Jay would say that he was a wholehearted and respectful young man.&nbsp; Even though he had some struggles, he was a good person and a kind soul.

Jay is survived by:&nbsp; his mother, Jacqueline Faris of Hutchinson, KS; sister, Sarah Faris of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Charlie Armentrout of South Dakota; and uncle, Charles McCutcheon of McPherson, KS.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jason James Faris.

Jill Renee Hiebert, 50, died Feb. 17, 2023, at her home in Mt Hope. She was born Jan. 28, 1973, in Hutchinson to William and Angie (Warneke) Wiese.

Jill was confirmed at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haven on May 17th 1987. Jill graduated from Haven High School in 1991 and attended Hutchinson Community College. She worked as an accounting clerk and was a farmer’s wife. Jill was outgoing and social and loved to visit with friends and family. She also loved spending time with her three nieces. Jill was an avid reader and bird watcher, and in years past, enjoyed crocheting as well. She was a member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haven.

On June 5, 1993, she married her high school sweetheart Brian Earl Hiebert in Haven. They shared nearly 30 years together.

Jill is survived by husband Brian Hiebert, Mt Hope; parents William and Angie Wiese, Haven; sisters Marsha Domann, Tomball, Texas; Diane (David) Beikmann, Palmer, Kansas; nieces Claire, Camryn and Cadence Beikmann; mother-in-law Linda Hiebert, Hutchinson; grandmother-in-law Neva Crotts, Hutchinson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Koy Domann, and her maternal and paternal grandparents, all of whom she loved very much.

Charles ‘Charlie’ Howard Pitts, age 91, died February 16, 2023, in Hutchinson, KS. He was born June 20, 1931, to Charles Harold Pitts and Sarah Patton (Freerksen) Pitts.

Charlie graduated from Satanta High School, Satanta, KS. He was a very successful entrepreneur, owning Charlie’s Service and Wrecker Service, along with other businesses.

Charlie enjoyed watching KU basketball, gardening, fishing, feeding the birds, and working in the yard. He was an avid racecar driver of jalopies and Super Modified series, a passionate softball coach of “Charlie’s,” and a loyal member of the HCC Quarterback Club.

Charlie is survived by his five children: Ron (Donna) Goodwin, Tonganoxie, KS, Kae (Duane) Ruesegger, Chootaw, OK, Wynona (Dwight) Gehring, Hutchinson, Rick (Dalaine) Pitts, Hutchinson, and Rhonda (Ken) Crissman, Troutman, NC; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Forest Pitts and Orrin Pitts, both of Hutchinson.

He was proceeded in death by: his parents; brothers, Lloyd, Carl, and Roy; and sister, Cleo.

Jo Anne Leasure, 88, of Hutchinson, died February 16, 2023, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler. She was born July 31,1934, in Dodge City, to Gordon Ray and Bessie Bethel (Pierce) Vance.

Jo Anne graduated from Dodge City High School in 1952. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Kline Insurance and then Fee Insurance. Jo Anne was a charter member of Crossroads Christian Church and was active in visiting nursing home residents and those in the hospital. She was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. Jo Anne also was a good baker and bread was her specialty.

On July 19, 1953, she married Kenneth R. “Ken” Leasure, in Dodge City. They shared nearly 70 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: her sons, Vance Leasure (Judy) of Hutchinson, Tim Leasure (Cheryl) of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Taylor Leasure, Casey Leasure, Madison Leasure, Kyle Pontius (Abbey), Troy Pontius; four great-grandchildren; sister, Berna Dene Spriggs of Wichita; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Jo Anne was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Cara Lee Howard and Marjorie Snell.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Crossroads Christian Church, 4310 N. Monroe, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Brent Wayne Nelson, 68, of Falun, KS, died peacefully February 9, 2023, of throat cancer at Hospice House, Hutchinson, with his older brother by his side.&nbsp; He returned to the earth shrouded in his favorite Pendleton wool blanket February 13, 2023, in a green burial at Heart Land Prairie Cemetery, New Cambria, Kansas.

Brent was the son of Darald (Mannie) Nelson and Ruth (Dolly) Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darald (Mannie) Nelson.&nbsp; Brent is survived by: his mother, Ruth (Dolly) Nelson of Bethany Home, Lindsborg; brothers, Edwin (Elizabeth) of Walpole, MA and Ward of Smolan, KS; adopted daughter, Alyssa Gaede of Colby; grandchildren, Daniel, Mali and Maja Crawford; nephews, Erick Nelson of Portland, OR, Mark Nelson of Honolulu, HI, Jon Nelson of Providence, RI; niece, Anna Nelson of Denver, CO; and former wives, Donna Sheer and Debra Fisher.

Brent was born March 9, 1954, and raised on the family farm a half-mile west of Smolan, KS.&nbsp; He attended Smolan Grade School and graduated from Lindsborg High School in 1972, followed by studies at Salina Area Vocational Technical School.

Brent is The Brent Nelson of the “Brent Nelson Special” Sandwich at the Öl Stuga, Lindsborg, that was featured on Good Morning America in November 2010! &nbsp;Brent was a product developer at Great Plains Manufacturing, Salina, where he worked from 1987-2017.&nbsp; While there, he developed several patents for seed planting delivery systems. In addition, Brent’s marksmanship with handguns gained him national rankings and recognition. Native American culture was a passion throughout his life that culminated in constructing a Lakota Sweat Lodge and conducting ceremonies on the family farm.

Spiritual, creative, insightful, brilliant and kind, Brent listened to a different drummer and was a source of wisdom for those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Eloise Marie McKnight Lichty, 98, passed away peacefully at Angel Arms, in McPherson, KS, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

Eloise was born in Quinter, Kansas, on January 26, 1925, to Verna (Long) and John D. McKnight.&nbsp; Following graduation from Quinter High School, she attended McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, where she met D. Eugene Lichty from Waterloo, Iowa.&nbsp; They were married on August 20, 1944, and enjoyed nearly 70 years together.&nbsp; From 1946-1948 this young couple volunteered in Carrara, Italy, under church auspices, helping orphans after wartime.

Being part of the Church of the Brethren was important throughout Eloise’s life.&nbsp; She lived faithfully as a pastor’s wife, bringing her gift of music, of directing plays and children’s musicals, the art of being a hostess, and her concern for others to every church they served, in Oklahoma, Missouri, Ohio, and Arizona.&nbsp; In 1993, she and Eugene made their home in McPherson, KS, where they enjoyed participating in the McPherson Church of the Brethren and being part of McPherson College cultural events.&nbsp; And in her 60s decade, Eloise completed her own college education at Mac!

Eloise and Eugene hosted three year-long high school exchange students, from three different continents.&nbsp; Whenever foreigners arrived in town, the Lichtys wanted to help them feel welcomed. They also had a habit of inviting any newcomers to church, either to their home for a meal or out for Sunday lunch.&nbsp; Eloise had a fine soprano voice and sang in church and civic choirs for many years.&nbsp; To supplement a pastor’s income, she gave piano lessons, taught Kindergarten, and worked in a doctor’s office.&nbsp; She will also be remembered for her fine culinary skills, including a short while in a private catering service with her friend ImoJean Frantz.

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marlys Bengston, and her husband Eugene.&nbsp; Survivors include two daughters and three sons:&nbsp; Jean (Francis) Hendricks, McPherson; Marilyn (Rob) Rosenow, Beaverton, OR; Dan (Lynne) Lichty, McPherson; Kent (Lori) Lichty, Lee’s Summit, MO; Lyle (Ilona) Lichty, Mt. Vernon, IA; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 25, 11:00 a.m. at the McPherson Church of the Brethren, McPherson, Kansas.&nbsp;

Eugene Lichty from Waterloo, Iowa.&nbsp; They were married on August 20, 1944, and enjoyed nearly 70 years together.&nbsp; From 1946-1948 this young couple volunteered in Carrara, Italy, under church auspices, helping orphans after wartime.Being part of the Church of the Brethren was important throughout Eloise’s life.&nbsp; She lived faithfully as a pastor’s wife, bringing her gift of music, of directing plays and children’s musicals, the art of being a hostess, and her concern for others to every church they served, in Oklahoma, Missouri, Ohio, and Arizona.&nbsp; In 1993, she and Eugene made their home in McPherson, KS, where they enjoyed participating in the McPherson Church of the Brethren and being part of McPherson College cultural events.&nbsp; And in her 60s decade, Eloise completed her own college education at Mac!Eloise and Eugene hosted three year-long high school exchange students, from three different continents.&nbsp; Whenever foreigners arrived in town, the Lichtys wanted to help them feel welcomed. They also had a habit of inviting any newcomers to church, either to their home for a meal or out for Sunday lunch.&nbsp; Eloise had a fine soprano voice and sang in church and civic choirs for many years.&nbsp; To supplement a pastor’s income, she gave piano lessons, taught Kindergarten, and worked in a doctor’s office.&nbsp; She will also be remembered for her fine culinary skills, including a short while in a private catering service with her friend ImoJean Frantz.Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marlys Bengston, and her husband Eugene.&nbsp; Survivors include two daughters and three sons:&nbsp; Jean (Francis) Hendricks, McPherson; Marilyn (Rob) Rosenow, Beaverton, OR; Dan (Lynne) Lichty, McPherson; Kent (Lori) Lichty, Lee’s Summit, MO; Lyle (Ilona) Lichty, Mt. Grant A. Young, 60, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was born January 20, 1963 in Hutchinson, KS, to Ellis G. and Kathryn A. (Laskowski) Young.

Grant became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized at the age of 25. Grant graduated from Buhler High School in 1981 and graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.&nbsp; He taught privately for more than 30 years.&nbsp; He was the leader and lead trumpeter of the Air Capital Big Band which was featured at the River Festival and the Sedgwick County Zoo summer series of concerts.&nbsp; He also worked several years as a jazz adjudicator and clinician at the Wichita Jazz Festival. Grant played with several well-known music personalities such as Ray Charles, Patti Page and The Temptations.&nbsp; In Grant’s spare time, he enjoyed gardening, landscaping and helping others.&nbsp;

Grant is survived by his mother, Kathryn Young, a sister, Becky Young; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Young.

Eldon was born on April 30, 1949, in Moundridge, KS, the son of Donald Richard and Billie Richerlee (Sutton) Becker.&nbsp; He graduated from McPherson High School.&nbsp; On March 5, 1978, Eldon was united in marriage to Donna L. Campbell in Little River, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters, Jamie and Jennifer.

He attended Countryside Covenant Church, McPherson.

Richard was&nbsp; a United States Navy Veteran, serving during Operation Desert Storm. He was a former police officer for the City of McPherson from 1997 to 2018, and was most recently a Senior Production Operator for Pfizer in McPherson.

Richard was born on April 8, 1969, in Trenton, NJ, the son of Richard Earl Keim, Sr. and Gail Etta (Trebil) Keim.&nbsp; He attended Hutchinson Community College.&nbsp; On March 17, 2012, Richard was united in&nbsp; marriage to Holly M. Steinert in McPherson.&nbsp;

Survivors include: his loving wife, Holly Steinert-Keim of the home; children, Amanda Duever (Corey) of Sarasota, FL, Amber Keim of McPherson, KS, Adalynn Keim and Ashlynn Keim, both of the home; step-sons, Isaac Linscheid and Ethan Linscheid, both of McPherson, KS; mother-in-law, Sheila Smith of McPherson, KS; siblings, Paula Entwistle (Mark), Scott Hays, Lori Jones (Chris), and Gail Engle (Charlie); and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Michael A. Henderson, 69, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, KS of a sudden illness. He was born April 4, 1953 in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Louis H. and Louise (Danford) Henderson.

Michael graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1971 and took a year of schooling at Hutchinson Community College. Michael worked several jobs in California. He retired after 28 years from Underground Vaults and Storage as a records management clerk and he also worked on the mine rescue team. Michael loved to medal detect and go catfishing.

On January 2, 1998, Michael married Ranea Risley at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include his brothers, Lou Henderson Jr. of Huntington Beach, CA, Tim (Beth) Henderson of South Hutchinson, KS; sister, Patricia Miller of Hutchinson, KS, stepsons, Ryan Corkins of Lawrance, KS, Brett (Celia) Corkins of Kansas City, MO; step-granddaughter, Natalia Corkins; brothers-in-law, Terry (Sandy) Risley of Viera, FL, and Jeff (Monica) Risley of Springhill, FL; sister-in-law, Cheryl (John) Laughary of Wichita, KS; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Walter Dechant, 96, Hays, died Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at HaysMed.

He was born April 13, 1926 in Antonino, the son of Joseph and Anna (Speier) Dechant. On September 30, 1947 he was united in marriage to Marie Antoinette Feltis in Hays, and they celebrated 64 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on December 25, 2011. Walter was a farmer, owned and operated Dechant Oil Company, and enjoyed his work as an oilfield pumper and producer. His memberships included St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Schoenchen Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #4166, and the Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Assembly #282. He loved bowling, playing in many card clubs and dancing with Marie, and the extensive traveling they did together.

Survivors include his son: Steven Dechant and wife Mary Kay of Hutchinson, three daughters: Debra Rippe of Aurora, CO, Judith Kisner and husband Mark of Sugar Land, TX, and Glori Dechant of Olathe, twelve grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, son-in-law: Ron Rippe, grandson: Kenon Lane Rippe, three brothers: William, Gene, and Richard Dechant, and seven sisters: Josephine Legleiter, Alice Legleiter, Marcella Zimmerman, Adeline Zimmerman, Eleanor King, Stella VonFeldt, and Mabel Riedel.

Joyce was born on October 5, 1930, in Salem, Oregon, to Thomas and Goldie Pearl (Monroe) McLeod.&nbsp; She graduated from McPherson High School.&nbsp; On August 1, 1954, Joyce was united in marriage to Donald Keith Rickner in McPherson.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters, Lori and Diane. Keith and Joyce were married for 64 years before his passing on September 12, 2018.

She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, McPherson.&nbsp; She also was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Amity Friendship Club, Bridge Club and TOPS of McPherson.&nbsp;

Survivors include: two daughters, Lori Hurst (Randy) of Augusta, KS and Diane Rotha (Brent) of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren, Mallory Grimmett (Will), Connor Hurst, Kaleigh Hartzler (Jared), Logan Rotha, and Macie Priddy (Kelly); seven great-grandchildren, Braxton, Brayden, Atley, Avery, Kowen, Khloe, and Brylynn; and many extended family and friends.

Ruth S. Adams, passed away on February 8, 2023.&nbsp; She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, then moved to Norfork, Arkansas, again returning to Kansas in 1965. She attended school in Valley Center and was a 1976 graduate.&nbsp; Later in life she became a registered dietitian and worked at the Cheney Golden Age Home. In 2022 she took retirement from Smithfield where she worked as a security guard.

Barbara graduated from Haven High School in 1963. &nbsp;She was a lifelong member of&nbsp; Haven United Methodist Church and belonged to P.E.O. Chapter BL.

On May 9, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Delmar Kincaid, at Haven United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Barbara is survived by:&nbsp; her husband of almost 59 years, Delmar Kincaid; daughters, Kimberley Kincaid-Warner (Todd) and Lisa Hall (Mark), all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Grace Scott, Reed Scott, Katelyn Hall, Brynn Hall, Sam Warner (Whitney Steele), and Jake Warner; great-grandson, Jaxson Warner; and brother, W.R. “Dub” Allam (Susan) of Hutchinson.

Barbara Fern Kincaid |1945-2023|

Andrew Jay McCurry,72, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, at his home in Burrton, KS surrounded by his loving family.

Andy was born on September 8, 1950 in Hutchinson, KS to Ruth (Campbell) and A.J. McCurry. Andy graduated from Burrton High School in 1968; obtained a B.S. degree in Animal Sciences &amp; Industry from Kansas State University in 1978. Andy made a career change to meet his family goals and was accepted into the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1990. He worked as a pharmacist in the Hutchinson, KS area for 30 years retiring on his 70th&nbsp;birthday in 2020. He also worked for the Kansas Livestock Association from 1980-1984.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; son, John (Melody) McCurry and their children Aubree, Molly and Drew, Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Emily (Tyson) Mullen and their children, Avery and Hallie, Ulysses, KS. He was their biggest cheerleader and the light of his life.

Other survivors are sister, Carole (Rick) Schlender, Burrton, KS; brother, Ray (Rose) McCurry, Mt. Hope, KS; and brother-in-law, Raymond Dixon of McAlester, OK. Also, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jan Dixon of McAlester, OK, sister-in-law, Sue (Smith) Coley of Rockford, IL, and nephew, Tyler Schlender of Burrton, KS.

Andy married Mary Elizabeth Smith on August 5, 1977 in Jackson, TN. Together they created a start-up registered Angus operation, McCurry Angus Ranch (formerly Marands Angus using their combined names …Andy &amp; Mary). As a 3rd&nbsp;generation Angus breeder, Andy wanted something he could call his own and not someone else’s legacy. It wasn’t the easy way but in reality he created his own legacy, his own Angus herd and ranch.

Never one to shine the light on himself, Andy worked tirelessly behind the scenes to turn a run-down piece of property into his own “homeplace”. A lifetime of pounding posts (thus the hearing loss!) by hand for over 40 years turned into a place hosting many livestock judging teams, visitors from across the US, cattle sales, chuckwagon cookouts and a place to raise his family. His work ethic, dependability and strong, solid values were the backbone of the decisions he made in his life.

Andy’s gift was the ability to meet people from all walks of life and “visit” with them. He was always interested in YOU…not himself. His network of friends was nationwide thanks to many years showing cattle with his family’s operation. There wasn’t a cattle event anywhere in the country that Andy didn’t know or see someone he had met in his journey with Angus cattle.

Because Andy re-invented himself by changing his career, he was sought out by many who were struggling with “what to do” with their life or unhappy in their chosen profession. He encouraged many to consider pharmacy as a career. When folks said “I wish I could” …. his response was “you can if you put your mind to it”.

Many awards came his way, some of which included:

Instead of traveling to attend a funeral, it was Andy’s wish that people use that time to do something positive for someone else; take your grandchild for a walk through the cattle, reconnect with someone from your past, go visit or help someone with a project you have been meaning to do; make an effort to resolve old conflicts or lend a stranger a helping hand. Offering your time and energy in this way will not only honor Andy’s memory and spirit, but benefit us all by touching the hearts and lives of others as he has touched ours.

Larry Eugene Goodwin Sr. passed away February 10, 2023, in Hutchinson. He was born in Hutchinson, December 2, 1945, to James Goodwin and Betty Wingert. 

Larry loved working in his garage on cars and motorcycles, doing yard work and being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his coffee buddies, traveling when he was able, telling jokes, going to his granddaughter's activities and raising his two grandchildren, Lance and Tabitha. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Roberta (Bobbie), of 52 years; daughters, Joyce Waller (Dennis) and Debbie Murrell; brothers, Jim Goodwin and Sam Martin; sisters, Donna Reimer and Diana McKeen; grandchildren, Lance Wheeler, Robert Sharp Jr., Tabitha Wheeler, Meeka Cale, Emerson Murrell, Bentley Murrell and Denton Murrell and 10 great grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry Goodwin II; brother, Bob Goodwin and sisters, Beverly Bailey and Pam Riney. In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be donated to the family.

Mildred Irene Brown, 88, of Hutchinson, passed away on February 8, 2023.&nbsp; She was born June 20, 1934, in Pretty Prairie, KS, to William Jennings Bryan and Adah Catherine (Elliott) Lintecum.

Irene graduated from Nickerson Rural High School.&nbsp; She retired from 1st&nbsp;National Bank as well as Alexander’s Jewelry.&nbsp; She loved cooking, music, concerts, reading and was known as a people person.

She married Luther Robert Brown on September 19, 1953.&nbsp; They had over 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2019.

Irene is survived by: sons, Jeff (MaryAnn) Brown of Haven, and Steve; sister, Betty Warner of Hutchinson; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, and grandson Christopher Ryan Ogden.

The family will be present for a Memorial visitation for both Luther and Irene from 2 - 4 p.m. on Saturday February 18, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp; Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Linda Lee Caley, 75, died February 12, 2023, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born May 4, 1947, in Long Beach, California, to Billy Curtis and Phyllis (Kennison) Young.

Linda graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1965. She worked for many years as a lab tech at the hospital. Linda was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. She enjoyed crafts, such as coloring and cross stitch, movies, and word searches.

On August 30, 1978, Linda married Ronald Eugene Caley in Deadwood, South Dakota. He passed away on May 28, 2019.

Linda is survived by: sons, Brice Wroe (Christine), Brian Caley (Tammie), Brandon Caley (Sonya), Shawn Caley (Amy), Shane Caley (Angie); 12 grandchildren; five grandchildren; and brothers, Ed and Terry Young.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant.

Linda Lee Caley 1947-2023

Marilyn Ruth (Potter) Land was born August 4, 1939, in Iowa City, IA, the second child and only daughter of Samuel George and Inez Irene Marcella (Wright-Carson) Potter. She had an older brother, Larry Eugene, and two younger brothers, Richard Samuel and Paul Frederick. The family lived in Clarinda, IA, and Ruth, as she was always known to her family, attended Clarinda schools until 1956 when her family moved to Denver, CO where she attended high school, later graduating from Central Academy (now Central Christian College of Kansas) in McPherson, KS.

Ruth was married to Myron Black in 1963; her son Wesley Myron Black was born in 1964. She married Michael Milliken in 1981, and on April 13, 1991, was&nbsp;married to Jerome L. Land, with whom she had fallen in love as a teenager but had been prevented from marrying. They had a very happy 31 years together before his death in November 2022.

Ruth was employed at several different places in Colorado and California, retiring from Burroughs Corp/Unisys, where she was a purchasing agent, in 2001. She and Jerry moved from California to Moundridge, KS, in 2002.

In her younger years, Ruth enjoyed bowling, and was always politically active. She cheered on the Denver Broncos and the KC Royals and Chiefs. She and Jerry also enjoyed traveling together in later life and gathering with family in the holidays, with the 4th&nbsp;of July holiday being their favorite to host.

Ruth was brought up in the Free Methodist church. She belonged to Cornerstone Bible Church where she was baptized in 2022 at the age of 82.

Marilyn Ruth Land passed into eternity in the early morning hours of February 13, 2023, at Pleasant Hills Home in Hutchinson, KS. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Jerry Land, son Wesley Myron Black, brothers Richard and Paul Potter, sister-in-law Judith Potter, and great nephew Christopher Shepard.

She is survived by her brother Larry Potter, Inman, KS, sister-in-law Dolores Phelps (Bernie Wieland) of Florida, and step-children Linda Hess of Idaho, and Steve Land and Todd Land (Jerry Reinke) of Joplin, MO, step-grandchildren Serena Riley, Skyler Land, and Ryan Land, several nieces and nephews.

 </figure>Marilyn Ruth (Potter) Land was born August 4, 1939, in Iowa City, IA, the second child and only daughter of Samuel George and Inez Irene Marcella (Wright-Carson) Potter. She had an older brother, Larry Eugene, and two younger brothers, Richard Samuel and Paul Frederick. The family lived in Clarinda, IA, and Ruth, as she was always known to her family, attended Clarinda schools until 1956 when her family moved to Denver, CO where she attended high school, later graduating from Central Academy (now Central Christian College of Kansas) in McPherson, KS.Ruth was married to Myron Black in 1963; her son Wesley Myron Black was born in 1964. She married Michael Milliken in 1981, and on April 13, 1991, was&nbsp;married to Jerome L. Land, with whom she had fallen in love as a teenager but had been prevented from marrying. They had a very happy 31 years together before his death in November 2022.Ruth was employed at several different places in Colorado and California, retiring from Burroughs Corp/Unisys, where she was a purchasing agent, in 2001. She and Jerry moved from California to Moundridge, KS, in 2002.In her younger years, Ruth enjoyed bowling, and was always politically active. She cheered on the Denver Broncos and the KC Royals and Chiefs. She and Jerry also enjoyed traveling together in later life and gathering with family in the holidays, with the 4th&nbsp;of July holiday being their favorite to host.Ruth was brought up in the Free Methodist church. She belonged to Cornerstone Bible Church where she was baptized in 2022 at the age of 82.Marilyn Ruth Land passed into eternity in the early morning hours of February 13, 2023, at Pleasant Hills Home in Hutchinson, KS. Marilyn Ruth (Potter) Land |1939-2023|

Deborah Denise Boomhower, 65, of Salina, KS, and formerly of McPherson, KS and New Castle, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Salina Regional Health Center.&nbsp; She worked 18 years as an operator for Southwestern Bell in McPherson and then as a switchboard operator for Jameson Hospital in New Castle, PA.

Debbie was born on December 8, 1957, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Jay and Marilee (Kemp) Keagle.&nbsp;Debbie was the oldest of four sisters, and she loved being the “Number One” daughter.&nbsp;She graduated from McPherson High School in 1976 and attended Hutchinson Community College and Fort Hays University.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Hauck in 1988.&nbsp;They lived in Hutchinson, KS and then moved to Kansas City.&nbsp; It was during these years in Kansas City that Debbie became a huge Chiefs football fan.&nbsp; She watched every game with enthusiasm.&nbsp; Debbie and Bob then moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she also became fanatical about the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even though she cheered for the Steelers, the Kansas City Chiefs were always number one in her heart.&nbsp;

Bob died in 1993.&nbsp; She later married James “Jim” C. Boomhower on June 16, 1997.&nbsp; Debbie and Jim moved to New Castle, PA where they were able to live close to Jim’s children and grandchildren. One of Debbie’s most treasured roles was being “mama Debbie” to Matthew, Trevor, and Lexie.&nbsp; After Jim’s death on November 18, 2008, Debbie moved back home to Kansas. She loved being able to spend valuable time with her parents, sisters, and nieces and nephews, as well as new friends made in Salina, KS, where she lived.

Debbie enjoyed cooking and baking for others.&nbsp; At her apartment home on potluck days, Debbie would be in the kitchen preparing yummy food to share with all her friends.&nbsp; She loved it!

Debbie was a fan of NBA and college basketball.&nbsp; She liked watching The Golden State Warriors and The Phoenix Suns, as well as college teams such as KU and K-State. &nbsp;

One of the highlights of her later life was purchasing her new red Ford Escape SUV, which she called “Boomie”.&nbsp; She was a proud Ford owner! &nbsp;

Debbie also loved all the pets and children in her life.&nbsp; She loved her sister Kelly’s dog, Keva, a mini golden doodle.&nbsp; Debbie would yell out, “Keeeve!”&nbsp; when she walked into the house, and Keva would run to her, wagging her tail and giving all her attention to Debbie. &nbsp;

Debbie missed her step-grandchildren after moving back to Kansas, but she doted on all her great nieces and nephews to help fill the void.&nbsp; She was excited to find just the right gift at Christmas and made a point to recognize each of them on their birthdays.&nbsp;

Debbie had many health challenges throughout her life.&nbsp; She approached each with strength, cheerfulness and a big smile. She will be missed. &nbsp;

Survivors include: her parents, Jay and Marilee Keagle of McPherson, KS; three sisters, Lori (Phil) Havens of McPherson, KS, Kelly (Hal) Havens of Lenexa, KS, and Stephanie (Darren) Whitcher of Lenexa, KS; nieces and nephews, Josh(Christy), Derek(Courtney), Audrey(Matthew), Kasey(Curtis), Brian(Kay), Abby, and Sam; great nieces and nephews, Caleb, Nathan, Landon, Lila, Graham, Cody, Jake, Teddy, Xander, Quinn, and Violet; three step-children, Dylan Boomhower, Melody Murray, and Lyric Carter; step-grandchildren, Sapphire, Matthew, Trevor, Alexis, and London; and many extended family and friends.

Carol Ann Giles, 75, died February 10, 2023, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born May 22, 1947, in Wichita, KS, to Elmer Lester and Wilma Lucille (Nossaman) Spain.

Carol graduated from Kingman High School in 1965 and went on to become an LPN at Hutchinson Hospital where she retired. Carol attended Solid Rock Bible Church, South Hutchinson.

Carol is survived by sisters, Sandra Polley and Evelyn Stucky, both of Hutchinson.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Solid Rock Bible Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

She was born May 22, 1947, in Wichita, KS, to Elmer Lester and Wilma Lucille (Nossaman) Spain.Carol graduated from Kingman High School in 1965 and went on to become an LPN at Hutchinson Hospital where she retired. Carol attended Solid Rock Bible Church, South Hutchinson.Carol is survived by sisters, Sandra Polley and Evelyn Stucky, both of Hutchinson.Cremation has taken place.
