Ryan Gene Simpson, 58, was taken too soon on June 10, 2023, in Fort Scott, KS, as the result of a motorcycle accident.  He was born October 29, 1964, in Kingman, KS to Terry and Norma (Warfield) Simpson.

Ryan graduated from Haven High School in 1983, and received his associate’s degree from Hutchinson Community College. He was employed for over 30 years at the Kroger/Dillons Distribution Center, working most recently as a perishable warehouse associate and trainer for new employees. Ryan was a long-standing member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 795. Ryan enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, taking trips on it with his wife, and making new friends wherever they traveled. He never knew a stranger. Above all, Ryan cherished time spent with his family and was an adoring “Papa” for his two grandchildren, Memphis and Addison. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

On February 14, 1987, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Newquist, in Hutchinson, KS at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.  

Ryan is survived by: his wife of 36 years, Cindy Simpson of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Makenzie and son-in law Nick Messer and grandchildren Memphis and Addison of Manhattan, KS; son, Zach Simpson of Denver, CO; parents, Terry and Norma Simpson of Hutchinson, KS; sisters, Robin and brother in-law Mike Murphy of Dallas, TX and Kathi and brother in-law James Craig of Wichita, KS; in-laws, Harry and Maxine Newquist; brother-in-law, Mike and sister-in-law Annetta Newquist, all of Hutchinson, KS; and many cherished nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Memorial service for Ryan will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Avenue, Hutchinson.

A celebration of life and “Ryans Ride” will be held in the fall. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
