The Hutchinson Community College men's golf team opens its 2025 spring season on Monday and Tuesday at the Arkansas-Fort Smith Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The Blue Dragons start the spring season ranked No. 2 in the Bushnell/Golfweek NJCAA Division I Coaches' Poll, which was released on Friday.
The Blue Dragons received one first-place vote in the latest rankings. Midland had 10 first-place vote and remained No. 1 in the poll.
The top three teams all remained the same from the last fall poll released &ndash; No. 1 Midland, No. 2 Hutchinson and No. 3 Odessa. Indian Hills jumped up three spots to No. 4 and Central Alabama moved up one spot to No. 5.
Garden City is ranked ninth in the first spring poll of the season. Dodge City is receiving votes.
Midland, Hutchinson and Odessa are the top three teams in the Clippd/Scoreboard NJCAA Division I team rankings. Central Alabama is fourth and Indian Hills is fifth.
The Blue Dragons won two fall tournaments &ndash; The Bent Tree Invitational and the NJCAA National Preview and had five Top 10 team finishes in the fall season.

⛳ Blue Dragons open season ranked No. 2

SALINA, Kan. - Both Hutchinson High basketball teams found that they had to rally past Salina South teams on Friday night at Salina South High, but both were successful coming away with wins.

Hutch High Girls pulled away late for a 44-35 victory. The Hutch High boys had to hang on to get a 50-47 win.

Playing hard fought games on back-to-back nights took its toll on the Salthawks but senior Kaia Smith stepped up to knock down her third 3 point basket on the night give Hutch a lead of five late in the contest to give the Salthawks the win.&nbsp; Senior Grace Posh then added four free throws to top off the win 44 to 35. Ava Krone and Kohlbie Craft each scored eight.

Salina South's Brooklyn Jorden led the Cougars with 13 points

Hutch (14-6) will now host Andover Central (13-7) on Tuesday night March 4th at 7pm at the Salthawk Activity Center in Hutchinson. The Salthawks are the #8 seed in class 5A West in the Hays sub-state. #1 Hays (20-0) will host #16 Great Bend (6-14). Winner's of Tuesday night's games will advance to the the higher seed home court on Friday, March 7th.

Taishaun Govain had 11 plus several big-time rebounds late to get the win.

Salina South's Sawyer Walker led the Cougars with 17 including four 3 point baskets.&nbsp;

Haworth's blast is the first walk-off home run for Wichita State since Garrett Kocis connected for a two-run shot against Kansas on March 23, 2022. The Shockers (3-6) entered the ninth inning trailing 4-3 but got a leadoff hit batter when Fullerton closer Jason Krakoski (0-1) drilled&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/baseball/roster/ryan-callahan/9175" rel="smarttag" rev="9175" data-airgap-id="61">Ryan Callahan</a></dfn>&nbsp;in the leg with a fastball. 🏀 3A boys, 2A girls sub-state action this evening

After being stunned by its first loss of the season, the No. 21-ranked Hutchinson Community College baseball team showed plenty of resiliency on Thursday at Hobart-Detter Field.
Coffeyville shocked the Blue Dragons with a seven-run final inning to rally from four runs down for a 9-6 victory over Hutchinson in Game 1 of a four-game non-KJCCC series. The Blue Dragons responded with&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/mazza_antony_9347">Anthony Mazza</a>&nbsp;leading a 10-hit attack with three hits and four RBIs as Hutchinson run-ruled Coffeyville 15-5 in seven innings.
Hutchinson is now 10-1. The Game 1 loss snapped the Dragons' program-record-tying nine-game winning streak to start the season. Coffeyville is 7-2. Games 3 and 4 of the series will be at Walter Johnson Park in Coffeyville at 1 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
GAME 2 Recap &ndash; Hutchinson 15, Coffeyville 5 (7 innings) Mazza continued his torrid start to the season and extended his hitting streak to 11 games to lead the Dragons in Game 2.
Mazza went 3 for 3 for his ninth multi-hit game of the season with a double, two singles, two runs scored and four RBIs. Mazza's RBI single in the second was part of a four-run inning. He laced an RBI double in the Dragons' three run third inning and drove a two-run single through the right side of Hutchinson's eight-run fifth inning.
The Blue Dragons pounded out 10 hits and took advantage of four Coffeyville errors and 11 Red Raven walks.

Mustow</a>&nbsp;went 2 for 3 with double, two runs scored and two RBIs.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/griffin_leo_z3t1">Leo Griffin</a>&nbsp;was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, an RBI and stolen base.
Starting pitcher&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/perry_gabe_wq1l">Gabe Perry</a>&nbsp;(3-0) pitched a season-high five innings to earn his third win of the season. He allowed only two hits and one earned run with two strikeouts and no walks. Perry,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/pasteur_beau_5exl">Beau Pasteur</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/doty_aiden_00pr">Aiden Doty</a>&nbsp;held Coffeyville to six hits.
GAME 1 Recap &ndash; Coffeyville 9, Hutchinson 6 The Blue Dragons got off to a hot start in Game 1 with two runs in the first inning after an RBI triple by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/stokes_taber_u8n0">Taber Stokes</a>&nbsp;and an RBI groundout from&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/tygart_baker_ked6">C.J. Reid</a>. After the Red Ravens tied the game at 2-all in the second, the Dragons re-claimed the lead in the third with two unearned runs. Mazza doubled in a run and later scored on an errant throw while he was advancing to third on a wild pitch.
The Dragons took a 6-2 lead on a Mustow two-run double to right field in the fifth inning.
Coffeyville threatened in the fifth and sixth innings, stranding five runners on base in those innings. The Red Ravens then scored seven runs in the top of the seventh. Tied at 6-6 with the bases loaded, Nathon Cruz hit a three-run double off the right-field wall for a 9-6 lead.
The Dragons were held to a season-low five hits. Mazza led Hutchinson, going 2 for 3 with three runs, two doubles and an RBI. Stokes, Reid and Mustow each had hits.
Starting pitcher&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bluedragonsports.com/sports/bsb/2024-25/bios/roehler_trenton_pudh">Trenton Roehler</a>&nbsp;worked a season-long five innings and allowed five hits, two runs and had a career-high nine strikeouts.

ANDOVER, Kan. — The Andover Trojan basketball teams celebrated Senior Night on Thursday with victories over the Hutchinson Salthawks.

The Hutchinson girls battled hard, but Andover pulled away late to secure a 54-42 win, marking their 19th victory of the season. In the boys’ game, Hutchinson held a 17-11 lead after the first quarter, but struggles at the free-throw line—going 8-for-21—and late turnovers allowed Andover to come away with a 65-54 win.

Grace Posh and Kaia Smith each scored 17 points for the Salthawks, but Andover responded to an early Hutchinson run to pull away for the 54-42 victory. Asia’h Sullivan and Grier Hand each scored 14 points, while Aliyah Green added 13 to lead the Trojans.

Hutchinson now travels to Salina South for a makeup game that has been postponed twice. The Salthawks currently sit in the No. 8 seed in the Class 5A West, which would give them a first-round home game when sub-state tournaments begin next week. Their opponent will be announced when seedings are released by the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) on Saturday.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Alejandro helped lead UAB past Wichita State on Thursday night with 29 points off of the bench in an 80-72 win.

Vasquez shot 11 of 22 from the field, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 6 for 6 from the free-throw line for the Blazers (19-9, 12-3 American Athletic Conference). Christian Coleman added 14 points while shooting 4 of 10 from the field and 6 for 7 from the foul line. Yaxel Lendeborg shot 4 of 6 from the field and 2 for 6 from the free-throw line to finish with 11 points, while adding eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

Corey Washington finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and three blocks for the Shockers (17-11, 7-8). Wichita State also got 17 points from Xavier Bell. Quincy Ballard finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds. The Shockers ended a six-game winning streak with the loss.

UAB took the lead with 7:12 to go in the first half and did not give it up. The score was 39-34 at halftime, with Vasquez racking up 11 points. Vasquez scored 18 points in the second half to help lead UAB to an eight-point victory.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson High School Salthawk bowling teams competed at the class 5A regional on Thursday at The Alley.

Senior Jacob Bofink bowled 669 series to finish in fourth place and qualify for the state bowling championship. Bofink bowled a 279, 234 and 156 in his three games.

Fellow senior Tanner Cunningham bowled a 569 series to finish 24th individually, but unfortunately did not qualify for state. Cunningham bowled a 181, 190 and 198.

Newton freshman Remington Burke is a state qualifier with a ninth place finish, bowling 235-221-188 for a 644 series. Newton finished fourth place as a team.

Maize South boys won the regional with a 3476, while Salina South finished second with 3182 and Bishop Carroll finished third with 3174.&nbsp;Hutchinson finished ninth as a team.&nbsp;

On the girls side, it was freshman Alexis Jones with a 465 series to finish 20th and lead the Salthawks.&nbsp;

The Salthawks did not qualify any girls for state.

Bishop Carroll won the regional with a 2915 score, followed by Salina South with 2910 and Maize South in third with 2796.&nbsp;

The class 5A state championship will take place on Wednesday, March 5 at Bowlero Northrock in Wichita.&nbsp;

Senior&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://kuathletics.com/sports/baseball/roster/chase-diggins/16124" rel="smarttag" rev="16124" data-airgap-id="70">Chase Diggins</a></dfn>&nbsp;hit a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth and junior&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://kuathletics.com/sports/baseball/roster/dariel-osoria/16146" rel="smarttag" rev="16146" data-airgap-id="71">Dariel Osoria</a></dfn>&nbsp;crushed a walk-off grand slam to win it. &nbsp; Kansas improved to 8-0 on the season, which is the team's best start since 2014. The Jayhawks trailed from the top of the sixth until the bottom of the ninth when Diggins and Osoria came up with clutch at-bats. KU sent six hitters to the plate in the bottom of the ninth and all of them scored. &nbsp; HOW IT HAPPENED &bull; After a scoreless first inning for both sides, Kansas broke through first with two runs in the second inning. WICHITA, Kan. &ndash;&nbsp;Wichita State dropped its 2025 home opener to the No. 16/15 Oklahoma State Cowgirls 11-2 in five innings on Thursday evening at Wilkins Stadium. &nbsp; After Wichita State starter&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/alex-aguilar/9309" rel="smarttag" rev="9309" data-airgap-id="60">Alex Aguilar</a></dfn>&nbsp;got the first two batters out on four pitches in the top of the first inning, the Cowgirls jumped on the Shocker arm, recording four hits with two outs to score three runs and take an early 3-0 lead. &nbsp; In the bottom half, the Shockers answered with a pair of runs to make it a one-run game.&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/taylor-sedlacek/9318" rel="smarttag" rev="9318" data-airgap-id="61">Taylor Sedlacek</a></dfn>&nbsp;walloped a double into the gap in left-center to drive in&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/ellee-eck/9322" rel="smarttag" rev="9322" data-airgap-id="62">Ellee Eck</a></dfn>&nbsp;to get the Shockers on the board. Later,&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/sami-hood/9312" rel="smarttag" rev="9312" data-airgap-id="63">Sami Hood</a></dfn>&nbsp;reached first on a fielding error, allowing&nbsp;<dfn><a href="https://goshockers.com/sports/softball/roster/lauren-lucas/9314" rel="smarttag" rev="9314" data-airgap-id="64">Lauren Lucas</a></dfn>&nbsp;to come home and make it 3-2. &nbsp; In the second, OSU loaded the bases courtesy of a base hit and some well-placed bunt singles, but the Cowgirls were only able to bring one run home off of Aguilar in the frame, making the score 4-2. &nbsp; In the top of the third, the Cowgirls doubled their lead over the Shockers to 6-2 with a two-run home run down the left field line. &nbsp; After a scoreless fourth inning for both teams, OSU exploded for five runs on six hits in the fifth, taking an 11-2 lead. &nbsp; The Shockers were unable to bring anyone home in their half of the inning, falling in run-rule fashion to the No. 16/15 Cowgirls, 11-2 in five innings. &nbsp; Aguilar suffered the loss for the Shockers, falling to 6-2 on the year.&nbsp; &nbsp; Eck added a double in the fifth to finish the day 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Shockers in the hit column. &nbsp; Next Up The Shockers face the Missouri Tigers on Friday at 5:30 PM at Wilkins Stadium.</div>

The 35-year-old Kelce had been mulling whether to return for a 13th season. But the four-time All-Pro made his feelings clear in a text to Pat McAfee that the host read during “The Pat McAfee Show” on Thursday.

“My dawg!!! I’m coming back for sure,” the four-time All-Pro wrote, according to McAfee. “Gonna try to get to the best shape I’ve been this offseason and get back to the mountaintop. Got a real bad taste in my mouth about how I played in that last game and how I got the guys ready for battle. I can’t go out like that!!!!”
