
LIBERAL, Kan. — No. 20 Hutchinson (17-5, 12-4) shook off a slow start to defeat Seward (14-8, 9-7) Saturday on the road.
The Dragons trailed 14-2 with a little more than three minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Hutchinson shot just 22.2% in the opening frame as Seward took an 18-10 advantage after one.
The Dragons outscored the Saints by eight in the second quarter to tie things up at 27 headed into the break.
Hutchinson then built an 11-point lead late in the third quarter before Seward came storming back.
The Saints pulled within one with 1:33 left in the contest.
Hutchinson scored the game's final five points to win 66-60.

KaMyra Barber led all scorers with 21 points. She hit a career-high four triples and went 4-of-4 from distance after starting the game 0-1.
Kaia Smith scored 12 points off the bench for Hutchinson.
Trinitee Holmes led Seward with 13 points.
Hutchinson held the league's top scorer, Avery Marchino, to 5-of-13 shooting and 12 points.
The Dragons are home Wednesday, Feb. 4, to face Barton at 5:30 p.m.
