Fern Elizabeth Regehr was born to Pete and Lizzie Lohrentz on October 13, 1926 in Newton Kansas. She went to be with her heavenly father at the age of 93 on September 25, 2020.

Mom grew up on a farm east of Buhler, KS with an older sister and two younger brothers. She attended a one room schoolhouse and later graduated from Buhler High School. She worked at Bethel Deaconess Hospital until she met and married the love of her life, Arnold M. Regehr on October 1, 1948. It was Mom’s yellow dress that caught Dad’s attention at a birthday party, and the rest is history! To this union were born five children: Ron, Duane, Bonnie, Sheryl and Marilyn.

Eventually, Mom and Dad ended up on the farm east of Buhler, where Mom had grown&nbsp;up. Mom of course kept very busy keeping the home going with gardening, canning, sewing and wonderful meals. She would get up early in the morning to make such things as pies and fried chicken to take to the field during harvest. Mom was also Dad’s right hand man on the farm helping in any way that was needed as well as playing an integral part in the many decisions demanded on the farm. She was adept at milking cows, driving tractor, truck and whatever else was needed at the moment. To help supplement the farm income, Mom drove school bus for the Buhler School district for thirteen years. This allowed her to be with her children and be on their schedule.

In 1991 Mom and Dad moved to Inman KS where they designed and built their retirement home. They enjoyed living there for 20 years after which time they moved to Pleasant View Home in Inman. Mom always loved her flower gardens but in her retirement years she had more time to display her green thumb. She volunteered at the Etcetera Shop in Hutchinson for many years. She enjoyed painting ceramics, many of which were gifted to her children and grandchildren. A highlight for her were weekly quilting times with a group of ladies at church which lasted for many years. Mom and Dad had a heart for shut-ins and mom loved fixing Christmas goodies and meals to take along. In their retirement years, they enjoyed many travels, some in their motorhome, others overseas to Russia, Paraguay and Haiti where they were privileged to hand out Christian literature and help dig water wells.

As the grandchildren came along, Mom always made sure she was well stocked with cookies, ice cream, sweet cereals, popcorn, pop and Werther’s Caramels. The grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she made every effort to attend all of their functions she could.

Mom trusted Christ as her Savior when she was a teenager and was baptized upon her confession of faith at Finamore Lake southeast of Buhler. At that time she became a member of the Hebron Mennonite Church of Buhler. After her marriage she spent the remainder of her years at Bethel Mennonite Church of Inman, serving in different capacities. Her heart for the Lord showed through in her servant’s heart and her and Dad’s desire to see their children and grandchildren walking with the Lord.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Regehr, her parents and sister, Elfrieda Schmidt. Fern is survived by her son Ron (Janet) Regehr of Inman, Duane (Sharon) Regehr of Hesston, Bonnie (Ed) Zahn of Buhler, Sheryl (Tim) Busenitz of Inman, Marilyn (Laurence) Wiebe of Whitewater, 20 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Milford Lohrentz, Buhler, KS and Raymond Lohrentz, Inman, KS.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 at Inman Funeral Home, with the family present. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020 at North Inman Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman. Nicol Louise Cox, 74, died on September 24, 2020 at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. She was born September 12, 1946 in Vallijo, CA, the daughter of Bennie B. and Gertrude E. (Tiedemann) Pyle.

Nicol attended Vacaville High School and graduated in 1964. She later attended Hutchinson Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and graduated in 1986. Nicol worked as a grinder operator for Eaton Corporation. On August 4, 1974, she married John A. Cox in Hutchinson. Nicol was a member of the Carey Park Women’s Golf Association and Arlington Golf Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Nicol is survived by her husband, John; a brother, David Pyle of California and a sister, Gertrude Middleton of New Mexico.

Robert C. “Bob” Unruh, 92 of Goessel, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 at Bethesda Home in Goessel. He was born December 10, 1927 in Goessel, the son of John P. and Justina (Gaeddert) Unruh. 

Bob was married to Erlene (Boese) of Goessel. She survives of the home.&nbsp; 

He is also survived by a daughter, Laurie Pitzer of Anniston, Alabama; son, Doug J. Unruh of Newton, Kansas; two grandsons, Kelly Unruh of Irvine, California and Chris Unruh of San Jose, California; brother, Fred Unruh of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; and daughter-in-law, Sue Unruh of San Jose, California.

Manfred ‘Fred’ Fuchs, 84, died from vascular dementia September 19, 2020. Fred was born in Germany, October 11, 1935.

The first ten years of his life were overshadowed by the Nazi regime. He came to the United States in 1957, and as a proud naturalized citizen and United States Army veteran, he was very concerned about the preservation of our democracy. Fred was a baker at the Rainbow Bakery in Hutchinson for 35 years.&nbsp;

He was married to his ‘Sweetie Pie’, Mary F. Fuchs for 52 years, before her death in 2018.&nbsp;

Fred and Mary had a heartfelt love of animals and enjoyed life on their farm, on the outskirts of Hutchinson. They would spend their mornings sipping Fred’s special chocolate coffee, while watching the birds in the bird sanctuary that he built in view of their living room window. He raised horses, ducks, cared for wild turkeys, deer, and a skunk family that lived in the barn with their farm cats. They were also entertained for years by their iguana, Derf (Fred spelled backwards). Fred’s favorite animals were the dogs, especially his beloved German Shepherd, Hemi.

Fred is survived by his sister-in-law, Virginia (Bob) Hutton and many nieces and nephews. He had a very special relationship with his nephew, Mike Hutton and wife, Sheryl Caryl of Bel Aire, KS.&nbsp;

There was a private burial. Memorials may be made to the Kansas Humane Society, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Barbara Lee ‘Barb’ Carithers, 83, died September 17, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 27, 1936, in Hooker, OK, to Ben and Hazel (Daniels) Bell.

Barb graduated from Hutchinson High School and Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. She owned Barb’s Bail Bonds for over 40 years. Barb enjoyed bowling, dancing, traveling, and casinos (especially the slot machines). She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

Barb is survived by daughter, Brenda Kowitz of Hutchinson; son, Bobbie Kretzer, Jr., of Lansing; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many loving stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Bonnie Galloway; granddaughters, Jacki Scott and Michelle Kretzer; brother, Leroy Bell; and former husband and special friend, Calvin Carithers.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Carey officiating. Masks and social distancing will be required at the church. The family will greet friends following her service. Barbara 'Barb' L. Carithers | 1936 - 2020 |

Ralph Laverne Bryant was born in Ellinwood, Kansas, on June 4, 1925. Only a few weeks before passing peacefully at Hospice House on September 24, 2020, Ralph was digging the velvety soil in his beautiful garden with his strong, bare hands. He was also dancing the two-step, polkas, and waltzes two days a week at Elmdale Senior Center and the MooseLodge right up to March 15, when the senior centers closed. 

Ralph was the son of Alice Viola (Burchart) Bryant and Delbert Walter Bryant of Ellinwood, KS. He had two older brothers (Virgil Marlyn and Clarence Ervin), a younger brother (Lloyd Wayburn) and a younger sister (Deloris Winona). The family farm raised wheat, corn and livestock. 

Three months after graduating from high school, he entered the Navy’s V-5 program to be a WWII pilot. He soloed in Boulder, Colorado. He met Lucy Faye Maxwell while stationed in Dallas, Texas. Ralph was Honorably Discharged on May 13, 1946, as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate Third Class V-6USNR. Ralph married Lucy Faye on Aug 18, 1947 and was married 63 ½ years. Lucy passed June 18, 2011.

Ralph attended Oklahoma Baptist University for one year where he planned to become a minister. After six years of survival farming in Plevna, and three years serving as a farm hand in Partridge, the family moved to Hutchinson where Ralph was employed for 30 years at Cessna Fluid Power as a Buhr machine operator.

Music has always been important to Ralph. He played the trombone in high school and loved the music of the Grand Ole Opry. After retirement at age 61, Ralph took his first piano lesson. At 88, Ralph completed the requirements for the Associate of Arts degree at Hutchinson Community College with a focus on drafting and music. He graduated May 2014 from HutchCC as their oldest graduate and was given a standing ovation at the Hutchinson Sports Arena, complete with horns blowing. His niece, Dr. Cindy Hoss, Vice President of Academic Affairs, awarded him his certificate and a kiss, which brought a surprise to the audience. In 2017, Ralph established a perpetual endowment at Hutchinson Community College in Lucy’s name. The Lucy Faye Maxwell scholarship is a thank you to the Mennonite community in HarveyCounty, KS. It is specifically designed to support and encourage young women from Harvey County where for 25 years Lucy sold insurance for Bankers Life and Casualty. 

Ralph has helped in the community in many ways. For many years, he had picked up day-old bread at Dillon’s every Wednesday and delivered it to the Food Bank. He was instrumental in supporting and leading Boy Scout Troop #317 sponsored by the Community Church of the Brethren. Ralph served on most of the Brethren Church committees, and was especially helpful as a steward. He was the person to call when there was a building problem with Friendship Day-care and Preschool. He helped procure the grand piano at the Community Church of the Brethren and opened the church when there are piano recitals or other musical functions. Ralph and Lucy were also part of the M-2 Program of the Community Church of the Brethren sponsoring three inmates of the Hutchinson Reformatory over the years with visits, letters, and small gifts at Christmas.

Ralph and Lucy had three children, Darlene (and Mark) Manning of Lee Summit, MO; Michael (and Monica) Bryant of Santa Rosa, CA; and Beverly (and Tom) Hoskins of Hesston, KS. He was blessed with six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2020, in Memorial Park (aka Rayl's Hill), 5905 West 4th Street, Hutchinson, KS. 18, 2020 at her home in Nickerson.&nbsp; She was born November 21, 1962 in 
Burlington, Colorado.&nbsp; The Daughter of James and Bernadine (Griess) 
Bateman.

Diane grew up in Burlington where she worked during the summer on the
 farm of Gene Davis.&nbsp; At age 15 Diane and her family moved to Goodland.&nbsp;
 Being the selfless caregiver that she was she left school after her 
sophomore year to care for her father.&nbsp; She went back to finish high 
school and received her GED in 1981.&nbsp; She attended Fort Hays State 
University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 1996
 and went on to receive her Masters Degree in Counseling from Fort Hays 
State University in 1999.&nbsp; She worked at the Norton Prison as a Staff 
Professional Counselor.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was a Dedicated member of Christ Bible 
Church in Nickerson.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She Married the love of her life, Kenneth M. Mowery on November 3, 1984.&nbsp;&nbsp; He preceded her in death on April 1, 2000.

Eldon L. ‘Van’ Van Etten, 84, died September 21, 2020, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born March 20, 1936, in Anthony, to Clyde L. and Sarah ‘Dollie’ (Richardson) Van Etten.

Eldon graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954, and Baptist Bible College, Springfield, MO, in 1957. He was an exterminator for Hawks Pest Control in Wichita and a newspaper carrier for the Hutchinson and Wichita newspapers. Eldon was a member of Westside Baptist Church, and ‘the man behind the scene’ at Westside Baptist Church, taking care of all the churches’ maintenance. He enjoyed working with wood; whether it was woodworking, or adding an addition to his home. Eldon loved to sing and attend Wichita State Shocker basketball games, holding season tickets for many years.&nbsp;

On June 27, 1954, he married Dixie Mae Weiser, in Hutchinson. She died July 22, 2018, after 64 years of marriage.

Eldon is survived by daughters, Deanna Geide (David Blackwood) of Hutchinson, Melody Bosley (Edgar) of South Hutchinson; foster daughter, Kimberly Rayton (Clarence) of Lawrence; foster son, Brian White of Missouri; son-in-law, Larry Parish of Newton; brother, Francis Van Etten (Glendolyn) of Sublette; grandchildren, Stephanie Haviland, Julia Crawford, Anthony Geide, Jenny Dinsmore, Jeffrey Parish, Jessica Geide, Sarah Parish, Todd Bosley, Tyler Bosley, Kayla Rayton, and James Rayton; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tonya Parish; and brothers, Beryl and Wilbur Van Etten.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Marcia B. Brown, 66, died September 18, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 12, 1954, in Hutchinson, to Donald Ray and Ruth Maxine (Applegate) Murphy.

Marcia was a 1972 graduate of Fairfield High School, Langdon, and attended Fort Hays State University. She previously was the secretary/treasurer of Mid-States Wool Growers Co-op, South Hutchinson. Marcia was currently the treasurer of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, and the secretary/treasurer for the South Hutchinson After School Kids Childcare Program. As many have expressed, ‘she was a light in this world that brightened many days for many people’, and Marcia was ‘a force to be reckoned with’. She had a sense of humor, a wonderful attitude, and a very deep faith. Marcia was truly a gift to all who knew her.

On August 3, 1974, she married Farrol Brown at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church. They shared over 46 years of marriage.

Marcia is survived by her husband, Farrol Brown of Pretty Prairie; sons, Shawn Brown of Tennessee, and Jeffrey Brown of Nickerson; siblings, Steve (Joanne) Murphy of West Melbourne, FL, Blaine (Becky) Murphy of Hutchinson, Dan (Lynette) Murphy of Wichita, and Kim (David) Criswell of Wilson; grandchildren, Alexis, Eva, Jeffrey Jr., and Kyla; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald Rex McMurray was born December 7, 1948 in McPherson, the son of Glenn E. and Virginia Lee (West) McMurray.

He grew up in Canton, Kansas with his sister, Wendy and was a graduate of Canton High School and McPherson College. Don had been a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin for many years and was a retired salesman. He was an accomplished vocalist and had been a member of the Canton United Methodist Church. His two nieces, Jami and Jill, were the light of his life.&nbsp; Don entered into eternal rest on Friday afternoon, September 18, 2020 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee following an extended illness. He will be missed greatly by his family and dear friends.

Survivors include his sister, Wendy Brotton and her husband Kim of Canton; his nieces, Jami North and husband Adam and their daughter, Anna of Galva and Jill Lee and husband Matt and their son, Jake of Overland Park; two brothers, Jan (Martha) Wilson, Huntsville, Texas and Hal (Julie) Wilson, McPherson; a sister-in-law, Jo Ellen Wilson, Lyons; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friend. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Goldie McMurray and Virginia Lee and Jim Doane; his brother, Kim Wilson and his girlfriend, Mary Wishmon.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked in public relations, and in purchasing, sales, and consulting for Hutchinson Floral. Erma was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Wesley Singers, Friends of the Library, and PEO Chapter BY.

On April 2, 1942, she married Martin Mayfield, in Hutchinson. He died January 17, 1993.

Erma is survived by daughters, Ginger Mayfield (Bill Forst), Hutchinson, Janet Mayfield (Randy Morse), Kaslo, BC, Canada; sons, Bill Mayfield (Sarah), Hutchinson, Larry Mayfield, Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Kathy Mayfield, Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; stepfamily, Janice Jabara (Larry), Greg Payton (Paula) and their families; and numerous extended family members.

Katherine ‘Katie’ Estrella, 92, died September 20, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society - Hutchinson Village. She was born March 22, 1928, in Ness City, to Carl and Clara (Schlitter) Leiker.

Katie was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361 Ladies Auxiliary, where she loved to dance. Katie also was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar Society.

On April 26, 1948, Katie married John Estrella Sr. in Hutchinson. They shared 72 years of marriage. He survives.

Also surviving are: daughter, Kathy Hedrich (Glen), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Joshua Estrella (Brandy), Hutchinson; Janelle Ortiz, Topeka; Tiffany Seibel (Matt), Winter Garden, FL, Todd Howard (Sarah), Overland Park, Kristin Hedrich, Hutchinson, Andrew Hedrich (Kalene), Hutchinson; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

He graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1949.&nbsp; Don served in the United States Army from 1951-1953.

He was a member of Goessel Mennonite Church.&nbsp; He was a charter member of Young Farmers Association, was on the Meridian Township board for over 32 years and was a Trustee at Goessel Mennonite Church.

He was united in marriage to Harriet Jane Klassen on May 25, 1957 at Halstead.

Don is survived by his son, Keven (Debra) Hiebert; daughters, Natalie Hiebert and Marjean (Chad) Deines; granddaughter, Lauren Hiebert; and sisters-in-law, Jo Larson and Katie Klassen.

Patricia Lynn Kirkland, 53, of Wichita, died September 17, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. She was born May 29, 1967, in Medicine Lodge, to Bob and Pearl (Lynch) Hignight.

Patricia graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1985, and attended Hesston College. She was a former &nbsp;member of Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

In 1993, Patricia married Scott Kirkland. They later divorced.

She is survived by: mother, Pearl Hignight; son, Justin Kirkland (Ashley); and granddaughter, Addylynn, all of Hutchinson.

Patricia was preceded in death by her father, Bob Hignight.

He married Elaine Dorothy Schroeder on September 3, 1966 in Buhler. She died March 25, 1994.

Survivors include six children; Donna Calderon, Anita Myers, Glenn Rice, Bruce Rice, Cheryl Albrecht, Cynthia Rice; a brother, Calvin Rice; and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother; Virgil Rice.

Dorothy Moon Beeman died peacefully at home on September 13, 2020, after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Denver, she was born on May 5, 1929, to Francis Gordon and Lillian Moon. She graduated from Denver East High School, Colorado Women’s College and the University of Denver, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. After college, she was a teacher at the Wallace School (subsequently known as the Wallace Village for Children), which provided innovative treatment and rehabilitation to children with brain injuries and other disabilities.

In September, 1960, she married Robert C. Beeman and together they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 10, three days before her passing. She was also a long-time member of Chapter CN of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband, Bob, her daughter Missy Fagerstrom and Missy’s husband Brian (all of Denver), and by her son Chuck and granddaughter Julia Wiese Beeman, and Chuck’s companion Margarita G. Pérez (all of Miami, Florida).

Dorothy will be interred in a private ceremony at St. John’s Cathedral in Denver. Garland Virgil Longhofer, 94, of Hutchinson, died September 14, 2020, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born March 16, 1926, to S.E. and Goldia (Smith) Longhofer.

Garland was a 1944 graduate of Dickinson County Community High School, Chapman, KS. He was in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946, and served in Okinawa and the Occupation of Japan. Garland received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and Masters of Education degree from the University of Kansas. He was a teacher and counselor in Ellis, Burlington, Osawatomie, and 26 years at Hutchinson High School. Garland was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, since 1960.

On August 22, 1948, Garland married Martha Josephine ‘Jo’ Easter, in Abilene. They shared almost 64 years of marriage, prior to her death on July 31, 2012.

He is survived by his children, Tom (Cindy) Longhofer of Wichita, Jane (Charles) Briscoe of Marrero, LA, and Becky (Dave) Grant of Derby; grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Laurie, Scott, Jeffrey, Kyle, Kimberly, Katie, and Christopher; and eight great-grandchildren.

Jeffrey Todd Mundhenke, 51, of Hutchinson, passed away September 8, 2020, at his home. He was born on February 3, 1969, in Wichita.

&nbsp;The beloved son of Gary and Sherry Mundhenke, he wrestled and played football while attending Hutchinson High School. Jeff then graduated from Pittsburg State University, where he was starting tackle on the 1991 National Championship football team. He was a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. Among many recreational pursuits he loved biking, disc golf, and volunteering at the Hutchinson Animal Shelter. However, nothing was as important to Jeff as family.

On November 25, 1995, Jeff married the love of his life, Christy Jo Smith. She survives as do their three children, Ciara of Elgin, Illinois, Derek of Kansas City, Missouri, and Veronika of the home. He is also survived by his mother, Sherry Mundhenke of Hutchinson; sister, Sarah Waggoner (John) of Burrton; sister-in-law, Wendy Furbeck (Darren) of Dearborn, Missouri; three nieces; two nephews; a great niece and nephew; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; Gary Mundhenke; his in-laws, Teddy Smith and Warren Smith; two brothers-in-law, Larry Smith and Eric Sierck; one aunt; and one uncle.

Jeff was the proverbial “gentle giant”. A big man, but he had an even bigger heart! Jeff never met a stranger, only friends he hadn’t met before. He was passionate about the fair treatment of people and of animals; stories of his animal rescues are myriad. His was a kind a loving soul that will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.

Marie graduated from high school in 1948 and junior college in 1950. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed collecting dolls. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

On June 16, 1950, she married James ‘Jim’ Hawkins in Hutchinson. He died September 29, 2016. Marie and Jim were inseparable, and shared 66 years of marriage, prior to his death.

Marie is survived by children, Diane Ehling and Douglas Hawkins (Valerie); son-in-law, Christopher Britton, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Andrew Ehling (Jodi) of Las Vegas, NM, Zane Ehling (Jenni) of Garden Plain, and Abby Ehling (Francisco Florencio) of Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Cora, Morris, George, and Archie, Brecklynn, Sawyer, and Alice; and sister, Mae Smith of Hutchinson.

Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Ann Robbins, age 80, of Hutchinson, peacefully passed from this life on September 10, 2020. She was a restaurateur prior to her retirement.&nbsp; Roberta enjoyed boating, watching baseball, auto racing, and collecting stuffed animals. She and her husband, Wayne, were members of Zion Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

Roberta was born March 4, 1940, in Denver, CO, to Robert and Dorothy (Shelton) Williams.&nbsp; She lived some of her adolescent years in Puerto Rico, before relocating to Kansas City, where she graduated from Shawnee Mission High School. As an adult, Roberta worked as a waitress, secretary, data entry clerk, and restaurateur.

She relocated to Hutchinson to marry Eldon ‘Woody’ Wood, who preceded her in death. Roberta married Wayne Robbins, who survives, in 1983, with whom she was happily married.

Roberta is survived by husband, Wayne Robbins of Hutchinson; sons, Ron (Christina Ivers) Scrogham of Irving, Texas, and Michael (Cindy) Scrogham of Virginia; sisters, Connie (Roy) Adelman of Arizona, and Michelle Balfre of Oregon; stepchildren, Larry Robbins and Kathy Stowell, both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Austin Robbins of Hutchinson, Anne Divine of Colorado, Marie Divine of Virginia, Tiffany (Carl) Jones, Angel (Justin) Pennington, Cody Scrogham and LeAnn Scrogham, both of Virginia; and great-grandchildren, Addyson Jones, Blake Jones, Miley Pennington, and Bri Scrogham, all of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon ‘Woody’ Wood; and grandson, Michael Ray Scrogham, Jr.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Salvation Army, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

William Elroy ‘Bill’ Briggs, 79, of Hutchinson, died September 13, 2020, at his home. He was born September 8, 1941, in Hutchinson to Verner and Ethel (Hester) Briggs.&nbsp; As the Lord blessed him with great Light in his life, it was only befitting that Will passed on a bright sunny afternoon and on a Sunday, the Lord’s Day. Will’s greatest joys were his salvation and the family with which God had blessed him. On the final days of his life, Will was surrounded by all of these loved ones, before God called him home.&nbsp;

Will graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1959. He joined the United States Air Force and served his country for 21 years. His many talents were put to great use during his service in roles such as a career advisor, a personnel technician, and an aerospace photographic systems technician. On November 26th, 1965, Will married Cheryl Ruth Martin Wenzel in Hutchinson. Together, they shared a wonderful marriage of 54 years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing the guitar, games, fishing, and treasure hunting. As a member of the Westside Baptist Church of Hutchinson, he also enjoyed studying scripture. He was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68. More than anything, Will loved spending time with family.

He is survived by wife, Cheryl Briggs, Hutchinson; sons, Tod Briggs (fiancé, Nonnie), Jeremy Briggs (wife, Tiffany), both of San Antonio, TX; and Michael Briggs, of the home; sisters, Bernice Reed, South Hutchinson, and Colleen (Charles) Nichols, De Soto; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Will was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Scott and Jeff Briggs; brother, Lester Briggs; and sister, Patricia Brawner.

Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Eldon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary.

Garrett Jones, 29, of Hutchinson, died September 7, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 11, 1991, in Moses Lake, Washington, to Shawn and Christi (Chadwell) Jones.

Garrett graduated from McGavock High School, Tennessee, in 2009. Following high school, he joined the Kansas Army National Guard, serving overseas twice. His time in the military gave him a passion for mental health and suicide prevention for veterans. Garrett was a corrections officer at Hutchinson Correctional Facility, where he served on SORT and SST. He loved gaming, fishing, guns, and his dog, Rocco. Garrett also enjoyed working out and spent much of his time at the gym. More than anything, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Barbara J. Davis, 69, died on September 11, 2020 Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, KS. She was born October 9, 1950 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Eugene Bertrand and Elizabeth Jane (Kempf) Slama.

Barbara attended Hutchinson High School, graduating in 1969. On April 21, 1984 she married Paul Davis in Hutchinson. Barbara was a PBX operator at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and for many years owned her own business, From My Heart to Yours, where she was a dealer for Boyd Bears, Angels and Beanie Babies. She loved to do crafts. She made jewelry, mop dolls, and angels of all kinds. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and creating different crafts for them to do together. Barbara was also a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed playing Bunco. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bruce and Dwayne Slama, sister, Susan Axtell and nephew, Curtis T. Axtell.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Paul; daughter, Michelle Schrag and husband Grady; brother, Curt Radi and wife Lisa; three grandchildren, Devin Wiens and wife Alecia, Keegan Schrag and Kellen Schrag; four great grandchildren, Jayden, Maysen, Braedyn and Jasey Rae Wiens; three nieces, Angie Meuten and husband Brandon, Krystal Watkins and husband Justin and Kenzie Thomason; three nephews, Tyler Radi and wife Amanda, Keaton Radi and wife Tammi and Reid Thomason and wife Tiffany.

Josephine Frances Burkey, 86, died on September 11, 2020 at her home in Hutchinson, KS. She was born May 25, 1934 in Dodge City, KS, the daughter of Joseph and Wilma (Potter) Withrow.

On April 30, 1972, Josephine married Stephen Burkey in Wichita. They enjoyed 40 years together before he passed away in 2013. Josephine was a member of the VFW, Women’s Bowling Congress and Hutchinson Bowling Hall of Fame. Josephine loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, especially cookies for her grandchildren and for events that Trinity Catholic Jr &amp; Sr High had. She enjoyed attending Trinity’s school events and watching the children in sports.
