Marcia B. Brown, 66, died September 18, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 12, 1954, in Hutchinson, to Donald Ray and Ruth Maxine (Applegate) Murphy.

Marcia was a 1972 graduate of Fairfield High School, Langdon, and attended Fort Hays State University. She previously was the secretary/treasurer of Mid-States Wool Growers Co-op, South Hutchinson. Marcia was currently the treasurer of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, and the secretary/treasurer for the South Hutchinson After School Kids Childcare Program. As many have expressed, ‘she was a light in this world that brightened many days for many people’, and Marcia was ‘a force to be reckoned with’. She had a sense of humor, a wonderful attitude, and a very deep faith. Marcia was truly a gift to all who knew her.

On August 3, 1974, she married Farrol Brown at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church. They shared over 46 years of marriage.

Marcia is survived by her husband, Farrol Brown of Pretty Prairie; sons, Shawn Brown of Tennessee, and Jeffrey Brown of Nickerson; siblings, Steve (Joanne) Murphy of West Melbourne, FL, Blaine (Becky) Murphy of Hutchinson, Dan (Lynette) Murphy of Wichita, and Kim (David) Criswell of Wilson; grandchildren, Alexis, Eva, Jeffrey Jr., and Kyla; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2020, at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, 206 E. Avenue E, South Hutchinson, with the Reverend Claire Gager officiating.  Masks and social distancing will be required at the church.  Burial will follow in the Lerado Cemetery, Langdon.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation or South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
