Katherine ‘Katie’ Estrella, 92, died September 20, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society - Hutchinson Village. She was born March 22, 1928, in Ness City, to Carl and Clara (Schlitter) Leiker.
Katie was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361 Ladies Auxiliary, where she loved to dance. Katie also was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where she served on the Altar Society.
On April 26, 1948, Katie married John Estrella Sr. in Hutchinson. They shared 72 years of marriage. He survives.
Also surviving are: daughter, Kathy Hedrich (Glen), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Joshua Estrella (Brandy), Hutchinson; Janelle Ortiz, Topeka; Tiffany Seibel (Matt), Winter Garden, FL, Todd Howard (Sarah), Overland Park, Kristin Hedrich, Hutchinson, Andrew Hedrich (Kalene), Hutchinson; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughters, Barbara Estrella, Rose Howard; son, John Estrella Jr.; grandson, Elliott Hedrich; sisters, Christina Reger, Julitta 'Julie' Davis, Clara Leiker, Mary Leiker; and brother, Patrick Leiker.
Parish Rosary will be 9 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2020, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m., both at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., with Father Michael J. Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
