Nita Ann McFarland, 73, of Kingman, died October 3, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi Village in Wichita. She was born March 13, 1951, in Syracuse, the daughter of Earl W. and Nina E. (Dimmitt) Seyb.

Nita graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1969 and later received her nursing degree from Hutchinson Community College. She started her nursing career at Prairie Sunset Home in Pretty Prairie, then worked as a surgical nurse for a doctor in Smith Center, and then at Kingman Hospital for over 30 years before retiring as Director of Nursing. Nita also owned and operated Mollie’s Attic in Kingman for many years. She was an avid shopper, reader – especially Clive Cussler novels, and Kansas Jayhawks fan. Nita especially loved attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

In 1970, she married Fredrick Carrithers in Pretty Prairie. He died in 1985. Nita married Merlin L. McFarland on October 16, 1987, in Smith Center. He survives.

Also surviving are: her son, Matthew Carrithers (Shanda) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Megan Pipkin (Kyle) of Cheney; stepchildren, Dustin McFarland (Paula) of Wichita, Jill Fisher (Andy) of Lawrence; grandchildren, Brody Carrithers, Madeline Carrithers, Camdyn Pipkin, Hadley Pipkin, Carter Pipkin; step-grandchildren, Keegan McFarland, Tatum McFarland, Nicole Wieshar, Kennedy George (Virgil), Augden Fisher; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mitchell Carrithers.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Lone Star Cemetery, 3000 W. Sun City Rd., Pretty Prairie.

Following the service, everyone is invited to join the family for refreshments at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church, 201 S. Rhodes St.

She graduated Newton High in 1957. On October 19, 1958, she married Eldon Buss. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Four children were born to this union. Merlyn liked to knit, crochet, tat, sew and quilt. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Hutchinson Collector Car Club and PEO AG chapter.

She is survived by her husband, Eldon Buss of Hutchinson, Kansas; her sister, Rosalea Sudlow; and two children,&nbsp;daughter, Laura Tebbe and husband Sean Tebbe from Overland Park, and son, Trent Buss and Fernanda Lopes from Olathe, Kansas; three grandchildren, Audrey Lovett of Tampa, Florida, Britton Schroeder of Eugene, Oregon and Aydon Buss of Olathe, Kansas; Goddaughters, Mindy Matson of Newton, Kansas and Laura Lobberecht of Jefferson City, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Laurella Kerr; her son, Mark Buss, and daughter Marty Jo Buss.

Barbara Joyce Smith, 85 passed on September 23, 2024. Born October 17, 1938 in Newton, KS, she was the daughter of Randall and Ruby (Moore) Buckman. Growing up in Sterling, KS, Barbara graduated in 1956 from Sterling High School. She married W. Glenn Smith in February, 1957.

Barbara and Glenn eventually settled in Hutchinson, KS with their four children. Barbara began working for Buhler USD as a cook. She enjoyed working in the school system, grade school, middle school, and becoming Kitchen Manager for Buhler High School. After Barbara retired she loved to travel, especially cruising.

Survivors include son Dallas (Carla) Smith of Wichita KS, daughter Julie Smith of Montgomery TX, son Russell Smith of Florence CO. Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son Tedd D. Smith. Husband W. Glenn Smith. Her parents, one sister, and four brothers.

Services in Hutchinson, KS are to be announced.

Hector Beltran Beltran, 69, died September 30, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born November 22, 1954, in Pachera, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Antonio and Maria Del Refugio (Villalobos) Beltran.

Hector was dedicated to his faming and enjoyed raising his cattle and horses. He was a member of the Agricultural Association in Chihuahua, Mexico. He also enjoyed his time spent with his family and grandchildren.

On November 17, 1975, he married Laura Elena Gonzalez in Chihuahua, Mexico. They shared over 48 years of marriage.

Hector is survived by: his wife, Laura Beltran of Stafford; children, Hector (Alma) Beltran Jr. of Phoenix, Mario Beltran of St. John, Laura Ivonne (Luci) Veleta of Stafford; grandchildren, Hector Jr. Beltran, Crystal Beltran, Jose Ernesto Beltran, Xiomara Beltran, Kayla Guadalupe Beltran, Melany Beltran, Viannay Beltran, Mario Jr. Beltran, and Angie Guadalupe Veleta.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and two sons, Omar and Angel Beltran.

Eugenia Emily Rodriguez, 81, passed away September 23, 2024, at St. Francis Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, KS. The daughter of Antonio and Cleofas (Urioste) Flores. Eugenia was born in Villanueva, New Mexico on November 13, 1942.

She was a homemaker and assisted her husband, John in supervising the cross-country teams in Delta, Colorado on away trips, as well as attending numerous cross-country races, track&nbsp;meets, basketball games and summer races of her son, Chris and daughter, Amanda. Eugenia was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church from 1976-2019 and was an Altar Society member. She also attended St. Teresa Catholic Church from 2020-2024.

Her family moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1945. She attended schools there until 1959 when her family moved to Greeley, Colorado. She worked for Wright and Magill until 1962 when she met and married John Rodriguez on June 13, 1963, in Colby, Kansas.

Eugenia is survived by her two sons, John M. (Vera) Rodriguez and Christopher T. (Sam) Rodriguez; two daughters, Lisa R. (Miguel) Martinez and Amanda E. Garcia; two sisters, Rose and Lucy; a brother Tony Jr.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; four sisters, Amanda, Viriginia, Josie and Susie; two brothers, Vidale and Joe; and one grandson.

Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., on Friday,&nbsp;October 4, 2024, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, KS, with FatherJerome Spexarth officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS.

Marianne K. ‘Mary’ Marne, 61, of Haven, died September 27, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born August 3, 1963, in Fargo, ND, and was adopted by James and Mildred ‘Millie’ (Svagera) Marne.&nbsp;

Mary acquired her associate degree from Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE, where she graduated cum laude in electronic technology. She felt drawn to volunteer and dedicated her adult life to rescuing and caring for animals. Mary funded food and veterinarian care with unwavering love and attention to over 95 fosters, adoptions, and rescues since moving to Kansas in 2000. Although she will be deeply missed, 34 of those rescues shall continue to thrive with her animal rescue partner of 32 years in their furever home.&nbsp;

Mary is survived by: partner in rescuing, Janice Schlange, Haven, KS; mother, Millie Marne; brothers, David (Cheryl) Marne, Steve (Debbie) Marne; nieces, Ashley and Brittany Marne; nephew, Aidan Thomy, with all of the family residing in Omaha, NE.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father, James Marne.&nbsp;

Cremation has taken place. Services will take place at a later date.

Carla Faye Goertzen, 49, died Saturday, September 28, 2024. &nbsp;She was born September 24, 1975, in Newton, to Gregory and Viola (Fast) Schultz.

Carla graduated from Buhler High School in 1993, received her bachelor degree from Bethel College, North Newton, and her master degree from McPherson College. &nbsp;Her teaching career began at Lincoln Elementary School in Hutchinson, followed by Prosperity Elementary School, before completing her teaching career at Buhler Grade School. &nbsp;Carla was a gifted, selfless, and humble educator who made her students feel welcomed and loved. &nbsp;She put in countless hours preparing for her classes to ensure every student received the education they deserved. &nbsp;Carla could often be found on the weekends at Buhler Grade School, preparing for the next week of classes. &nbsp;She always went the extra mile with her students’ best interests at heart. &nbsp;As a result, Carla was a finalist for the Kansas Teacher of the Year award in 2012. &nbsp;

In addition to making an impact on hundreds of children’s lives, Carla enjoyed running, especially at Dillon Nature Center or around Buhler with her dog, Avery. She saw the beauty in nature, with a special admiration for birds. &nbsp;Carla was a member of Buhler Mennonite Church, and despite the peaks and valleys over the past two years, she never lost her faith in God.&nbsp;

On October 9, 1999, she married Jon Stuart Goertzen, at Buhler Mennonite Church. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Carla is survived by: &nbsp;her husband of almost 25 years, Stuart Goertzen; daughter, Lauren Goertzen, both of Buhler; mother, Viola Juhnke of Buhler; father, Gregory Schultz (Farris) of Cottage Grove, OR; sisters, Jill Reeves (Greg) of Andover and Katelyn Askren (Lincoln) of Buhler; brother, Scott Schultz of Buhler; parents-in-law, Johnny and Mary Jane Goertzen; brother-in-law, Russ Goertzen (Jill); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, stepsiblings; and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Inspire Church (formerly First Church of the Nazarene), 4290 North Monroe Street, Hutchinson, with Pastor Willmar T.  </figure>Carla Faye Goertzen, 49, died Saturday, September 28, 2024. &nbsp;She was born September 24, 1975, in Newton, to Gregory and Viola (Fast) Schultz.Carla graduated from Buhler High School in 1993, received her bachelor degree from Bethel College, North Newton, and her master degree from McPherson College. &nbsp;Her teaching career began at Lincoln Elementary School in Hutchinson, followed by Prosperity Elementary School, before completing her teaching career at Buhler Grade School. &nbsp;Carla was a gifted, selfless, and humble educator who made her students feel welcomed and loved. &nbsp;She put in countless hours preparing for her classes to ensure every student received the education they deserved. &nbsp;Carla could often be found on the weekends at Buhler Grade School, preparing for the next week of classes. &nbsp;She always went the extra mile with her students’ best interests at heart. &nbsp;As a result, Carla was a finalist for the Kansas Teacher of the Year award in 2012. &nbsp;In addition to making an impact on hundreds of children’s lives, Carla enjoyed running, especially at Dillon Nature Center or around Buhler with her dog, Avery. She saw the beauty in nature, with a special admiration for birds. &nbsp;Carla was a member of Buhler Mennonite Church, and despite the peaks and valleys over the past two years, she never lost her faith in God.&nbsp;On October 9, 1999, she married Jon Stuart Goertzen, at Buhler Mennonite Church. &nbsp; &nbsp;Carla is survived by: &nbsp;her husband of almost 25 years, Stuart Goertzen; daughter, Lauren Goertzen, both of Buhler; mother, Viola Juhnke of Buhler; father, Gregory Schultz (Farris) of Cottage Grove, OR; sisters, Jill Reeves (Greg) of Andover and Katelyn Askren (Lincoln) of Buhler; brother, Scott Schultz of Buhler; parents-in-law, Johnny and Mary Jane Goertzen; brother-in-law, Russ Goertzen (Jill); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, stepsiblings; and countless friends.She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Inspire Church (formerly First Church of the Nazarene), 4290 North Monroe Street, Hutchinson, with Pastor Willmar T. Ronald "Ron" Edgar Touzel |1947-2024|

David Seifert escaped this mortal realm on Friday, July 5th, 2024, in Sacramento, California at the age of 55. We think he did it on purpose to avoid having to deal with Facebook friends who would have different political views after the pending presidential election. (He loved to argue but hated Facebook jail.) He was born on April 29th, 1969, in Hutchinson, Kansas. (FYI, he loved Hutchinson, his family, and friends but was planning his exit from Hutchinson the day he was born.)

David was an amazing Hair Stylist, Realtor, and one heck of a Mobile Phone Salesperson.

People would hire David to cut, style, and color their hair from hundreds of miles away and pay him to travel to them, but at the same time he would tell them he was a beautician and not a magician. (People loved him for his ability and telling it like it was.)

David had a passion for rescuing abandoned Pugs. During his life, he had a total of eleven Pugs of which seven of them were rescued by him and his Husband Brent. Nine of the eleven have passed but two are still alive and full of Pug personality.

Gardening and cooking were a couple of David’s passions. He even had a French Provencal style flower garden in 117-degree heat Las Vegas when he lived there. (Pictures to prove it will be on display.)

David was very smart and if you asked him a question he would give you an answer. He knew everything, even when he was wrong, and to challenge him to a debate was never a promising idea.

DAVID SEIFERT 1969 - 2024 “REST IN PARTY”

When David’s Husband Brent was battling cancer, David cooked, cleaned, helped Brent go to the bathroom and shower, made sure rehabilitation was followed through, visited him daily during Chemotherapy, and so much more.

HE SAVED BRENT’S LIFE because that was the giving and caring person that he was.

He leaves behind an enormous and supportive family and group of friends. His Husband Brent Showalter, Brent’s Daughter Kaitlynn (who he considered his own Daughter), Kaitlynn’s Husband Tyler, and Brent’s Granddaughter Olivia. His sisters Amy Ratley, Diann (Paul) Stropes, nieces Jennifer (Michael) Warner (Wesley, Aiden, and Joel) Leah Ratley, Alexis Ratley (Macie and Mateo McAllister.) He was proceeded in death by Father and Mother Stanley and Beverly Seifert, Grandma’s Opal Dunn and Gladys Eales, Grandpa's Harry Seifert and Ora Dunn, and niece Laura Ratley.

A PARTY of Life will be held Saturday, October 5th, 2024, in Hutchinson, Kansas, at Carey Park Homebuilders building from 10:00 a. m. to 2:00 p.m. (Doors open at 9:45 a.m.)

A lunch buffet and beverages will be served and dancing as well, so get ready to boogie. More details to follow.

David Seifert |1969-2024|

LaRae D. Dosch, 88, passed away on September 29, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. She was born February 16, 1936, in Linton, North Dakota to Joseph and Winifred (Coonen) Mitzel.

LaRae graduated in Linton, ND in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, Anton “Tony” Dosch on May 28, 1956, in Bismark, ND. LaRae and Tony moved to Hutchinson in 1968.

She was a Brownie and Cub Scouts leader for many years. LaRae held a church membership with Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in South Hutchinson. She was also a loyal member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed life at her vacation home in Bella Vista, AR and most recently enjoying her ocean view from her condo on the beach in Ormond Beach, FL. She was a member of the Bernards Catholic Church and The Alter Society. LaRae and her family spend Sunday evenings playing card games and putting puzzles together. She enjoyed cooking, reading books, music and loved to decorate and entertain for the holidays.

LaRae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; a brother, Gary Mitzel; and three sisters, JoAnn Leuke, Joyce Mitzel-White and Mary Mitzel.

Survivors include her sons, Anton Dosch Jr. and wife Becky, Joseph Dosch and wife, Cris; daughters, Candace Beasley and husband, Rusty, Joyce Armbrust and husband, Steven; a sister, Noreen Sandwick; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until service time with the family present to great friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30 th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Stan Richardson, 72, died peacefully in his sleep after an extended
illness. He was born in Kingman, Kansas, to Irl Newton and Doris
Warner Richardson. Stan graduated from Winfield High School in 1970. 


Beginning at the age of twelve, Stan
learned all aspects of construction by working alongside his father
and uncle. As a young adult, he moved to Reno County. In 1974, he
joined forces with his cousin, Randy Richardson, and they started
their own construction company. After many decades in the business,
he hung up his hammer and saw (that it was time to retire.)

On February 14, 1979, Stan married
Ann Myers in Wichita. They shared 45 years of marriage. 


Stan is survived by his wife, Ann;
sons Jon (Janice) Richardson, with their two children, Nolan and
Everly, and Ross (Selby) Richardson, with their two children, Lola
and June, all of Hutchinson; mother, Doris Richardson, two sisters,
Alice Simmons, and Susan (George) Lowe, all of Winfield; and many
in-laws, nephews and nieces.

Stan was preceded in death by his
father.

A memorial service will be held at
10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Friends
will be welcomed by the family at 9:30.

Stanley Irl Richardson |1952-2024|

Ann Marie Mosier, 94, passed away on September 26, 2024, at 8:54 a.m. in Hutchinson, Kansas. Ann Marie Mosier was born on August 19, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Robert Edwin Adam and Ruth (De Young) Adam.&nbsp;

She graduated from Sterling High School in 1948. On September 1, 1949, she married the love of her life, Ronald Veere Mosier. They lived the first 64 years of their married life on a farm southwest of Sterling, Kansas; the remainder of their lives was lived in South Hutchinson, Kansas. To them were born two daughters, Linda Kay Lippelmann and Beverly Ann Lagana. In 1951, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.&nbsp;

Ann belonged to Chapter W, P.E.O., the Sterling Sorosis Club and several other women’s groups. She served on the board of the Sterling Presbyterian Manor for six years. She worked several years as a bookkeeper for Cundith and Wilkey Accounting in Sterling, Kansas. Ann attended the Sterling Evangelical Bible Church for 64 years and then attended Journey Mennonite Church in South Hutchinson, and South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.&nbsp;

Ann is survived by: daughters, Linda (Roger) Lippelmann of Lyons, Beverly (Gary) Lagana of Ellwood City, PA; grandchildren, Brooklyn (Nathan) Walker of Hutchinson, Mark (Jaclyn) Lippelmann of Wichita, Jackie (Kevin) Conti of Monaca, PA and Michael Lagana of Aliquippa, PA; great grandchildren, Katelyn Titus and Silas Walker of Hutchinson, Matthew and Miles Lippelmann of Wichita, Emily and Ryan Conti of Monaca, PA.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Ronald V. Mosier; sisters, Phyllis Creason and Dee Daly; brothers, Bob Adam and Jack Adam.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024, at Elliott Mortuary with the Reverend Mike Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Sterling Community Cemetery. Bernice Lee Davis, died July 8, 2024, at Newton Presbyterian Manor. She was born on December 6, 1930, in Neosho, Missouri, to Harvey and Bertha Morris Van Buren.

She was raised on a dairy farm and graduated from Neosho High School in 1948.

Bernice married John Davis on April 6, 1952. They later divorced. They had two children, Roger Lee and Barbara Jean. Bernice enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

She was a military spouse who eventually resided in Hutchinson, Kansas. She&nbsp;worked at several local convenience stores but mostly enjoyed spending time&nbsp;with her family.

Bernice is survived by: son, Roger (Kim) Davis, Manhattan, KS; daughter, Barbara Armstrong, Wichita, KS; granddaughter, Rebekah Gamble (Jovann); grandson, Zachary Davis; great-grandchildren, Pierce Gamble and Emory Davis; as well as numerous friends.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wayne Van Buren; and grandson, Mike Armstrong.

A memorial graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Betty Bachman presiding.

She met Merlin Nelson September 7, 1952 and she married him on January 11, 1953 at First Methodist Church, Stafford, Kansas. Merlin passed away June 17, 2001 after 48 years of marriage. She loved spending time with family, gardening, reading and being on the farm.

She is survived by her daughters, Alice Rose (Marvin) Oldham of Hutchinson, Kansas and Mary Lee Nelson of Wichita, Kansas; Twin sister, Ethel Miller of Newton, Kansas; Grandson, Jeffrey (Darcy) Oldham of Hesston, Kansas; Great-granddaughter, Haley Nicole (Alexis) Hernandez of Winnie, Texas; Great-Great-Grandson, Sage Oliver Hernandez of Winnie, Texas.

Alma Ruth Schmidt 90 died September 24, 2024, at her North Newton residence. She was born March 19, 1934, in Meade, Kansas to Cornelius K. and Mary (Reimer) Isaac. On May 27, 1961, she married Olin W Schmidt at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade, Kansas and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2011.

Alma was a longtime active member of the Grace Hill Mennonite Church in rural Whitewater, Kansas. She was a graduate of the Meade Bible Academy, Tabor College and earned her MA from Emporia State University. She was a retired English professor teaching at Phillipsburg High School, Berean Academy, Tabor College, Butler County and Hesston College.

She Volunteered at Et Cetera Shop the Enlite program at the Newton Public Library and was a member of the Bas Bleu Book Club. Alma also spent many years teaching Sunday school at Grace Hill Mennonite Church.

Alma's greatest joy was her family, and she looked forward to spending time with her children, grandchildren, great granddaughter and many friends.

She is survived by her son Darryl (Stacy) Schmidt; daughter Carmen (Paul) Wade; Brothers Menno, Dwayne, and Ken Isaac; sisters Mary Ann Spira, Betty Friesen, and Joan Becker. Six grandchildren and one great granddaughter also survive her.

Alma is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother John Isaac and sister Sharon Schell

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at Grace Hill Mennonite Church with Pastor Weldon Martens presiding. Private family interment will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Michael L. “Mike” Barnes, 74, passed away September 22, 2024, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. He was born January 3, 1950, in Hutchinson to Albert E. and Mary Metts Barnes.&nbsp;

While having completed most of his education in Garden City, KS, Mike graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. &nbsp;He attended Hutchinson Community Junior College and Oklahoma Baptist University. Mike worked for Jackson’s Ice Cream in Hutchinson two days shy of 45 years. While there, he did everything from maintenance to production to vacation relief. He retired in 2016.&nbsp;

On the 18th anniversary of the day they met, May 7, 2001, Mike married Donna Stucky Ocker. They shared 23 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Mike is survived by: his wife, Donna; sons, Paul (Kristi) Ocker of Minneapolis, KS, and Travis (Amanda) Ocker of Lawton, OK; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Ron (Carol) Barnes of Peculiar, MO; sister-in-law, Mona (Charley) French of Cameron, MO; brother-in-law, Richard (Connie) Stucky of Pretty Prairie; nephews, Ryan Barnes and Neil Barnes; and niece, Emily Barnes Craig.&nbsp;

Allison C. ‘Alli’ Carson, 35, of McPherson, died September 21, 2024, at her home. She was born August 29, 1989, in Fort Riley, to Larry and Janie (Meyer) Carson.

Alli was devoted to her children, whom she loved greatly. She enjoyed music and expressed herself through beautiful tattoos. Alli cared for all animals, cats were her favorite. On October 5, 2019, she married Carmen Alvarez and they shared nearly five wonderful years of marriage before her death.&nbsp;

Alli is survived by: wife, Carmen Alvarez of McPherson; daughter, Demi Carson of McPherson; sons, Ezra Carson, Miles Alvarez, both of McPherson; mother, Janie Carson of Hutchinson; brother, Chris (Valerie) Carson of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Tara (Jim Banta) Schroeder of Wichita; niece, Claire Carson of Virginia Beach, VA; uncle, William (Barbara) Meyer of Hutchinson; and numerous cousins.&nbsp;

Marian Kay Hall, 78, of Moundridge, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Pine Village, Moundridge.

She was born in McPherson, KS on November 13, 1945, the daughter of Lyle and Mattie E. (Van Ness) Switzer.

Marian attended Wickersham Grade School, McPherson Jr. High and graduated from McPherson High School in 1963.

She was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Marian worked as a owner operator of P Club, Mango Tree, Black Fox and La Fox and then worked as an Administrative Secretary for St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, casinos, loved her dogs and spending time with her family.

Marian was united in marriage to Dennis Raymond Hall, Sr. on November 13, 1964 in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, Sheri, Maria, Julie and Dennis.

She is survived by her children, Julie Jantzen (Kirby), of Moundridge, Dennis Hall (Anne) of McPherson, and Jesseca Walter (Kyle) of Hesston; her sister, Jackie Foster (Bob) of Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren&nbsp;and 5 great grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dennis Raymond Hall, Sr. and daughters, Maria Denise Hall and Sheri Kay Hall.

Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home in McPherson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson with Fr. Michael Kerschen officiating. Burial will be at McPherson Cemetery.

 </figure>Marian Kay Hall, 78, of Moundridge, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Pine Village, Moundridge.She was born in McPherson, KS on November 13, 1945, the daughter of Lyle and Mattie E. (Van Ness) Switzer.Marian attended Wickersham Grade School, McPherson Jr. High and graduated from McPherson High School in 1963.She was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Marian worked as a owner operator of P Club, Mango Tree, Black Fox and La Fox and then worked as an Administrative Secretary for St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson.She enjoyed gardening, reading, casinos, loved her dogs and spending time with her family.Marian was united in marriage to Dennis Raymond Hall, Sr. on November 13, 1964 in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, Sheri, Maria, Julie and Dennis.She is survived by her children, Julie Jantzen (Kirby), of Moundridge, Dennis Hall (Anne) of McPherson, and Jesseca Walter (Kyle) of Hesston; her sister, Jackie Foster (Bob) of Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren&nbsp;and 5 great grandchildren.Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dennis Raymond Hall, Sr. and daughters, Maria Denise Hall and Sheri Kay Hall.Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home in McPherson.Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson with Fr. James Orlando Harms died 24 September 2024 at his home in Newton KS.

He was born in Hillsboro KS on 26 January 1943 to Orlando and Erna (Wiebe) Harms. He lived in Wichita while his father pastored the First Mennonite Brethren Church. In his elementary years the family moved back to Hillsboro. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1960. 

Following high school he attended Tabor College (Hillsboro) for one year. Over the next six to eight years he attended Wichita State University, earning his bachelor’s degree and hours towards his master’s degree. In between times at university he would go back to California. He had fond memories of the many friends he made while living and working there.

On August 4, 1976 he married Elaine Roupp from Oregon in Santa Cruz CA. Their first home was near Goessel KS. In 1986 they moved to Newton KS. After ten years they moved into a small apartment in the commercial building where he had his pipe organ business.

He was very mechanically-minded. He could figure out how to make something work by studying how it was made. He just knew how something fit together. He was also very musical. He played various instruments, making music with his horn or sax in jazz bands or playing violin in the San Jose CA symphony while living there. 

He was a social worker, teacher, printer, builder of auto racing engines, and finally a pipe organ builder and voicer. He knew what he wanted the final instrument to sound like so he designed and built mechanical-action pipe organs and spent much time making them sound like he wanted them to sound. He regretted not being able to restore all the old cars he acquired over the years, specifically Nissan 300Zs and MGs.

He struggled with a disability from a major auto accident in the early 1970’s but kept going. In 2012 he fell and broke a hip from which he never fully recovered with his ability to walk decreasing. But he kept up his spirit. He worked on family geneology, researched and published articles about one specific Mennonite clockmaker from the Mennonite settlements in Prussia and south Russia. He kept abreast of world happenings by reading the international press and various news groups.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlando and Erna Harms.

Leaving to mourn is his wife of 48 years, Elaine, brother Robert (Sandy Wiens) Harms of Guilford CT, sister Marilyn (C Richard) Jeppesen of Slidell LA, nieces Lisa Domingo of Indianapolis IN and Laura (David) Zoppo of Pine CO, and great niece Liv Zoppo.

Cremation has taken place. There are no services planned at this time.

Memorials may be given to the Mennonite Library and Archives at Bethel College, North Newton KS or the Center for Mennonite Brethren Studies at Tabor College, Hillsboro KS.
