Carol Jeanne Lindsey, 79, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Bethesda Home in Goessel, surrounded by family. She was born on September 27, 1944 in Harvey County, Kansas, to Walter and Pearline (Buller) Wedel.

She was a member of the Faith Community Bible Church in Burrton.

Carol was united in marriage to Lloyd Lindsey on November 22, 1972. They shared 51 years of marriage.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Lindsey of the home; three children, Steven (Jessica) Lindsey of Wichita, Keri (Ron) Estus of Moundridge, and Shelley (Patrick) Lambert of Moundridge; eight grandchildren, Tanisha Wilbourn, Corbin Lindsey, Aubrynn Lindsey, Breegan Lindsey, Thomas Lambert, Shyanne Estus, Brayden Estus and Ri’Lynn Estus; and brother, Dale (Brenda) Wedel of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Pearline Wedel; and brother, Donald Wedel.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at the Moundridge Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mound Township Cemetery, rural Moundridge. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, at the funeral home. He was born on July 12, 1945 in St. Leo, KS, the son of Charles Gehlen and Helen (Youngers) Gehlen.

On September 30, 1967, he married Lurinda Lee (Chance) Gehlen in Medicine Lodge, KS. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2019.

Surviving are one son, Tony (Lydia) Gehlen of Medicine Lodge, KS; two daughters, Nicole (Ian) Mull of Heath, OH and Marsha (Shawn) Finch of Medicine Lodge, KS; Nine grandchildren, Leyann (Kyle) Wampler, Mya (Brayden Hellerud) Gehlen, Katlin (Andy) Gehlen, Shilae Bland, Shiloe Bland, Stephen (Amber) Finch, Aaleyah Finch, Angel Arredondo, and Ruben Arredondo; Eleven great-grandchildren, Jaxton, Dryden, Ava, Elam, Talia, Lillian, Layla, Meyah, Douglas, Kendrick, and Reese;

David “Big Dave” Brian Serviss, 49, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in Pretty Prairie, KS.

David was born on January 17, 1975, in Lyons, KS, the son of David James “Jim” and Cris (Collins) Serviss. On July 15, 1994, David married the love of his life, Heather Jenkins, in Hutchinson, KS. They spent 30 wonderful years together. He was a dedicated employee of Reno County for 27 years – with the majority of those years with Reno County Public Works Department. David loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. David’s greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. David had a passion for hunting and fishing with his boys, no matter the season. He was a jack of all trades and was always there to help his daughter with anything and everything she needed. Being a Papa kept him young and his wallet empty because he spoiled them with every want and need. He never missed a ball game, school concert or family activity with his children and grandchildren. It wasn’t uncommon for David to scroll endlessly for new recipes to try on his smoker or to throw into his ice cream machine for a last-minute family dinner. If he wasn’t relaxing in his chair, he was spending all his free time in his shop tinkering around or working on his mud truck. David and Heather were best friends and could be found travelling near and far, camping, and trying out all the escape rooms they could find. He was a giant teddy bear with the greatest soul who made an impact on all who had the privilege to know him. David is already missed beyond words by so many.

He was preceded in death by his father Jim and father-in-law Tom Jenkins.

Nadeen Carol Winters Wegele, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, great-great- aunt, and dedicated paraprofessional in the field of education, embraced a life filled with faith, family, and service to her community. Born on May 31, 1936, in Seward, NE, to Eleanor and Ernest Winters, she spent her formative years in Wichita, KS, where she thrived in her studies at Redeemer Lutheran School and East High School.

Upon completing her education at St. John's College in Winfield, KS, Nadeen embarked on a rewarding career path that included teaching and later serving as a speech paraprofessional in the Newton Public Schools. It was during this time that she touched the lives of many students, offering unwavering support and dedication to their growth and well-being.

Nadeen's unwavering commitment to her family, church, and community reflected her kind and compassionate nature. She found joy in crafting, playing games, and traveling, and dedicated her time to church activities and volunteering.

Her marriage to Victor Herman Wegele was a source of strength and love, enduring until his passing after 36 years. Together, they raised their children, Judy and Leslie, instilling in them values of perseverance, faith, and love.

Nadeen's life was a testimony to the importance of family bonds, faith, and service to others. Her laughter, kindness, and encouragement will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jill graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1974, Hutchinson Community College in 1998, and McPherson College in 2001. &nbsp;She worked for Hutchinson Community College as the Disabilities Coordinator/Advisor. &nbsp;Jill was always caring and helping others, whether it was family, friends, students, or neighbors. &nbsp;She was reliable, dependable, and continued to care for others, even as her cancer progressed. &nbsp; Jill left a lasting impression on everyone she ever met with her loving and unselfish character.

Jill was a lifetime resident of Hutchinson, moving with her husband, Ted, to Tennessee in 2022.&nbsp;

She is survived by: &nbsp;her husband of 30 years, Ted Crank of Ooltewah, TN; son, Norman Inch (Sadie) of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Hannah Inch and Emmett Inch; brother, Jack Hughes of Hutchinson; sister, Barbara Clendening of Buhler; mother-in-law, Marie Crank of Hutchinson; and numerous extended family and friends who all loved Jill dearly.

Nancy Jill Crank |1956-2024|

Monica Gross was born to Adam P. and Lena M. (Unruh) Dirks. She grew up on a family farm near Great Bend, Kansas. Following graduation from Pawnee Rock High School, she attended Bethel College. After graduation in 1945, she worked full-time as secretary to President E. G. Kaufman and editor of the Bethel College Bulletin. While working there, she met her husband, Harold H. Gross. They lived in Freeman, South Dakota, after they were married in 1947, where Harold was on the faculty at Freeman Junior College. Their children included twin daughters, Camille and Cheryl, and a son, Cuyler. In 1958, the family moved to North Newton when Harold joined the faculty of Bethel College.

&nbsp;Monica started working again for Bethel College in 1965 as Director of News Service and Editor of the Bethel College Bulletin. After her husband’s sudden death in 1980, she transitioned to supervisor of the Alumni and Development Records until her retirement in 1989, working for Bethel College for a total of 25 years. Monica was active in church life, developing the church library in Freeman. She served as librarian for Bethel College Mennonite Church, including 11 years as the Literature Committee chairman, and served on various other committees. She was open-minded, and believed in inclusion for all people, since everyone is a child of God. She was active in Soroptimist International, Business and Professional Women, American Association of University Women, and Bethel College Women’s Association.

&nbsp;Following retirement, Monica devoted much of her time to volunteer projects including MCC work in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, California, and Texas. She volunteered locally at Book ReViews, the EtCetera Shop, Newton Medical Center Gift Shop, Ten Thousand Villages, and Kauffman Museum. A lifelong book lover and avid reader, she was active in several area book clubs. Gardening was a special hobby that she shared with others, especially those who frequented the walking path at the back of her home where she kept a beautiful flower garden, complete with plant labels. She had a great interest in other cultures and ethnic foods, traveling with family and friends to all 50 states and 35 countries. She loved listening to classical music, attending music concerts or dramas, and playing games with her friends.

&nbsp;Monica loved to travel, and planned vacation trips every year to enrich her family’s experiences. The family visited a different part of the United States every summer. While Harold was on sabbatical leave studying at Heidelberg University in Germany, the family toured all over Europe, the Holy Land, Greece, and Russia and Eastern Europe. When her children’s family were growing up, she combined her love for family with travel, including fun on houseboats and at resorts.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Monica is survived by her daughters, Camille (Yotin) Tantibanchachai of Plano, TX, and Cheryl (Cal) Britsch of Archbold, OH, grandchildren Ryan (Zoe) Britsch, Kari (Tom) Hagan, Matthew (Jamie) Britsch, Jeremy Tantibanchachai, Jason (Andi) Tantibanchachai. Great grandchildren include Nathan Tantibanchachai, Sophia and Nora Britsch, and Max and Molly Hagan. Monica was preceded in death by her son, Cuyler, and husband, Harold.&nbsp;

Celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Bethel College Mennonite Church with a private family inurnment at a later date.

Following graduation from Pawnee Rock High School, she attended Bethel College. After graduation in 1945, she worked full-time as secretary to President E. G. Kaufman and editor of the Bethel College Bulletin. While working there, she met her husband, Harold H. Gross. They lived in Freeman, South Dakota, after they were married in 1947, where Harold was on the faculty at Freeman Junior College. Their children included twin daughters, Camille and Cheryl, and a son, Cuyler. In 1958, the family moved to North Newton when Harold joined the faculty of Bethel College.&nbsp;Monica started working again for Bethel College in 1965 as Director of News Service and Editor of the Bethel College Bulletin. After her husband’s sudden death in 1980, she transitioned to supervisor of the Alumni and Development Records until her retirement in 1989, working for Bethel College for a total of 25 years. Monica was active in church life, developing the church library in Freeman. She served as librarian for Bethel College Mennonite Church, including 11 years as the Literature Committee chairman, and served on various other committees. She was open-minded, and believed in inclusion for all people, since everyone is a child of God. She was active in Soroptimist International, Business and Professional Women, American Association of University Women, and Bethel College Women’s Association.&nbsp;Following retirement, Monica devoted much of her time to volunteer projects including MCC work in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, California, and Texas. She volunteered locally at Book ReViews, the EtCetera Shop, Newton Medical Center Gift Shop, Ten Thousand Villages, and Kauffman Museum. A lifelong book lover and avid reader, she was active in several area book clubs. Gardening was a special hobby that she shared with others, especially those who frequented the walking path at the back of her home where she kept a beautiful flower garden, complete with plant labels. She had a great interest in other cultures and ethnic foods, traveling with family and friends to all 50 states and 35 countries. She loved listening to classical music, attending music concerts or dramas, and playing games with her friends.&nbsp;Monica loved to travel, and planned vacation trips every year to enrich her family’s experiences. The family visited a different part of the United States every summer. While Harold was on sabbatical leave studying at Heidelberg University in Germany, the family toured all over Europe, the Holy Land, Greece, and Russia and Eastern Europe. When her children’s family were growing up, she combined her love for family with travel, including fun on houseboats and at resorts.&nbsp;&nbsp;Monica is survived by her daughters, Camille (Yotin) Tantibanchachai of Plano, TX, and Cheryl (Cal) Britsch of Archbold, OH, grandchildren Ryan (Zoe) Britsch, Kari (Tom) Hagan, Matthew (Jamie) Britsch, Jeremy Tantibanchachai, Jason (Andi) Tantibanchachai. Great grandchildren include Nathan Tantibanchachai, Sophia and Nora Britsch, and Max and Molly Hagan. Theda Y. Sorenson, 90, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at her home in Hutchinson, KS. Theda was born April 2, 1934, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of James A. and Thelma M. (Plummer) Woodson.

Theda graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952. She attended Hutchinson Community College, Sterling College and received her Masters Degree in 1981 from Fort Hays University. She was a counselor for Penn Valley Campus in Kansas City, Mo. She retired in 1994. On December 16, 1978, Theda married David Lee Sorenson in Hutchinson. They were married for 15 years before he passed away in 1993. Theda spend her time volunteering for Friends of the Hutchinson Library and was one of the first members of Hutchinson Human Relations Commission. She was also a member of the Bethel AME Church in Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; sisters, Anna Marie Walker and Joyce Hallums; brothers, James F. Woodson Jr., Loyal Woodson, Kenneth Woodson, Jeffrey Woodson, and Gerald Woodson.&nbsp;

She was born November 17, 1957 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Rickey and Rosella Rodriquez. She had worked in food service for Eaton in the cafeteria and Sirloin Stockade. She spent a lot of her time helping to raise a lot of the neighborhood kids.

She enjoyed listening to music and drawing and painting.

She is survived by her companion, Ray Luna, Hutchinson; sons, Ramon Luna and Enrique (Alicia Garcia) Luna, all of Hutchinson; mother of her grandchildren, Bianca Castor, Hutchinson; sisters, Paula Thomas and Alice Mendoza, both of Hutchinson; brother, Richard Rodriquez, St. Paul, Minnesota; grandchildren, Enrique Luna, II, Kilo Luna, Gabe Vargas, Estralla Castor, Alan Salgado, Avelinda Salgado, and Alyssa Salgado; several beloved brother and sister in laws; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Paul Richard Harshberger, Jr., 62, passed away with his family by his side on August 14, 2024, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. He was born April 5, 1962, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the son of Paul Richard and Gloria Jones Harshberger, Sr. He was a graduate of Salisbury Elklick High School, Salisbury, Pennsylvania.

Paul could be best described as a “Jack of all trades.” He was a truck driver a lot of his life though, driving for Dillons and Penner’s. His handle was “Lightening.” He was a member of the Iron Riders Motorcycle Group. He loved gardening and collecting die-cast trucks. But his pride and joy were his grandchildren.

A few of his favorite nicknames over the years were 2wheel Paul, Precious Paul, and Bad Santa.

On February 7, 1983, he married Sonya Neufeldt at Mennonite Brethren Church, Buhler. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include his daughter, Ashley (Nathan) Harold, McPherson; lots of adopted children; brother John (Amy) Harshberger, Salisbury, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Colton and Kaylee Lauderdale; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Jeanne Harshberger; and a sister, Dianna Harshberger.

MaryLou R. Hageman, 84, of Burrton, died peacefully August 14, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born May 12, 1940, in Mount Hope, to Martin and Suzanne K. (Gehlen) Libel.

MaryLou graduated from Andale High School, in 1958. &nbsp;She drove a school bus and was a homemaker. &nbsp;MaryLou enjoyed collecting and wearing jewelry, especially rings. &nbsp;In addition, she was an avid Coca-Cola collector, and lovingly nurtured numerous farm kittens, along with her daughter, Marietta. &nbsp;MaryLou was a faithful member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson.

On June 7, 1958, she married Clarence Willliam Hageman, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ost, KS. &nbsp;He died June 25, 2021, after they shared 63 years of marriage. &nbsp;

MaryLou is survived by: &nbsp;her children, Molly Perser (Norman), Clinton Hageman (Monica), Mark Hageman (Phyllis), all of Hutchinson, Curtis Hageman (Suzanne) of Towanda, and Marietta Hageman of Burrton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Joyce Preisser, 77, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at her home. She was born on February 12, 1947 in Wichita to Walt and Martha Weninger. Joyce married John Gibson on May 6, 2016 in Greensburg. They were married for 8 years.

Joyce graduated from Maize High School in 1965. She earned her Bachelor in Business Administration from Friends University. She worked as a beautician and as an administrator for a nursing home. She enjoyed oil painting, helping others and spreading the word of Jesus.

She is survived by her husband, John Gibson of Cunningham; children, Robert Fouquet of Kansas, Suzanne Manchester of Goddard, Zach Fouquet of Wichita, Joshua Fouquet of Haysville, and Micah (Carrie) Fouquet of Kansas City, Kansas; inherited daughters, Suzette Gibson of Castle Rock, Colorado and Catrina Gibson of Irving, Texas; brothers, Paul Weninger of Andale, Jerome Weninger of Colwich and Gene Weninger of Colwich; sisters, Patricia (Greg) Kraus of Valley Center and Nancy (Larry) Grey of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Joyce Preisser |1947-2024|

Dr. Douglas Young, a man of compassion and care, passed away at his home in Park Hill, Oklahoma, on July 5, 2024. His legacy is one of dedication to his family, friends, and the thousands of patients he treated throughout more than 50 years in his medical career.

Douglas was born on March 31, 1942, in McPherson, Kansas, to Carl and Roma Young. After graduating from McPherson High School in 1960, he earned a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from the University of Kansas [K.U.],&nbsp; then supported his advanced medical studies working in that field before graduating from the K.U. School of Medicine in 1971.

Following graduation, Doug served as a General Medical Officer and Hospital Administrator for the U.S. Air Force in Sembach, Germany, for the next 3 years. Upon returning to Wichita, he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at the K.U. School of Medicine in 1978. He then became Clinical Instructor of Medicine for the Medical School and Medical Director of Gerontology at Columbia Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, as well as a Physician at the Wichita Veterans Administration Hospital. Later, he joined the Wichita Clinic, where he practiced in the Internal Medicine Department and served as the Medical Director of Immediate Care until 2000. During his medical career in Wichita, he served as Medical Staff President at Columbia Wesley Medical Center as well as President of Sedgwick County Medical Society, awarded Outstanding Physician in Kansas in 1984,&nbsp; and served as a long-term Board of Director member of Kansas Foundation of Medical Care.

Doug moved to Oklahoma in 2000 where he worked in Wound Care and Internal Medicine Departments at St. Michael’s and Deaconess Hospitals in Oklahoma City. He then joined the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 2007, founding and serving as Medical Director for the Cherokee Elder Care Program before joining Cherokee Nation Health Services as Staff Physician in Urgent Care for the next 14 years.

Doug's curiosity, love of learning, and passion for medicine were evident throughout his life. He never sought fame or fortune but made significant contributions, such as the Cherokee Elder Care Program and establishing new courses on drug interactions and elderly care for medical residents at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. Similarly, his dedication to helping those in need led to the establishment of Project Access in Wichita, a program connecting uninsured individuals with medical providers. During the last three years of his medical career, he served as the telehealth ‘Covid’ physician for the Cherokee Nation, impacting hundreds of Tribal patients and their families during the COVID epidemic.

Beyond medicine, Doug had a passion for life, art, and the history of Native Americans. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ramona Kay. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharilyn Young; sister, Carlene Berg (Jim), their three daughters Trina, Autumn, Heather, and their families; stepdaughter, Arriane Alexander; stepson, Tobin Gump (Bobbie), grandson Carson Gump; son, Charley Young (Teresa), their children Suzanna, Mila, Rowen and William; daughter, Jessica Goodpasture (Tim), their daughters Savannah and Josie; and daughter, Megan Young and her son Nicholas.

His legacy is one of dedication to his family, friends, and the thousands of patients he treated throughout more than 50 years in his medical career.Douglas was born on March 31, 1942, in McPherson, Kansas, to Carl and Roma Young. After graduating from McPherson High School in 1960, he earned a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from the University of Kansas [K.U.],&nbsp; then supported his advanced medical studies working in that field before graduating from the K.U. School of Medicine in 1971.Following graduation, Doug served as a General Medical Officer and Hospital Administrator for the U.S. Air Force in Sembach, Germany, for the next 3 years. Upon returning to Wichita, he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at the K.U. School of Medicine in 1978. He then became Clinical Instructor of Medicine for the Medical School and Medical Director of Gerontology at Columbia Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, as well as a Physician at the Wichita Veterans Administration Hospital. Later, he joined the Wichita Clinic, where he practiced in the Internal Medicine Department and served as the Medical Director of Immediate Care until 2000. During his medical career in Wichita, he served as Medical Staff President at Columbia Wesley Medical Center as well as President of Sedgwick County Medical Society, awarded Outstanding Physician in Kansas in 1984,&nbsp; and served as a long-term Board of Director member of Kansas Foundation of Medical Care.Doug moved to Oklahoma in 2000 where he worked in Wound Care and Internal Medicine Departments at St. Michael’s and Deaconess Hospitals in Oklahoma City. He then joined the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 2007, founding and serving as Medical Director for the Cherokee Elder Care Program before joining Cherokee Nation Health Services as Staff Physician in Urgent Care for the next 14 years.Doug's curiosity, love of learning, and passion for medicine were evident throughout his life. He never sought fame or fortune but made significant contributions, such as the Cherokee Elder Care Program and establishing new courses on drug interactions and elderly care for medical residents at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. Similarly, his dedication to helping those in need led to the establishment of Project Access in Wichita, a program connecting uninsured individuals with medical providers. During the last three years of his medical career, he served as the telehealth ‘Covid’ physician for the Cherokee Nation, impacting hundreds of Tribal patients and their families during the COVID epidemic.Beyond medicine, Doug had a passion for life, art, and the history of Native Americans. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ramona Kay. Paul V. Burwell 88, of Hutchinson, KS passed away August 12, 2024, at HRMC. Paul was born on August 6, 1936, to Ira and Cecil Burwell in Halstead, KS.

Paul Began his early career life as a bellhop at the Leon Hotel in Hutchinson. He enlisted in the United States National Guard in 1955. He served 33 years with the Guards, retiring in 1988. He was a sanitation truck driver with the city of Hutchinson and was given the nickname, "Shorty" by his coworkers. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Hutchinson.

On November 22, 1958 Paul married the love of his life Norma J.&nbsp; "Toots" Snell. Together Paul and Norma Built a life on love and faith.They purchased their first home together in 1962, and he's lived in that home ever since. Paul and Norma had one daughter, Debra Lynn Burwell, who was stillborn on October 21, 1959. Paul and Norma shared 53 years of marriage before her passing on November 20, 2011.

Paul is survived by nieces Christina Cobb of Hutchinson, Buffy Countryman of Salina, Sharlan Graber of Topeka, and many other neices, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one cousin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma, daughter Debra, three sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

A Memorial service will be held at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 10:30 am. Interment will take place after the service at Fairlawn Burial Park. Kevin A. Hickey, 62, of Lawrence, KS, died November 9, 2023. &nbsp;He was born September 5, 1961, to Gerald and Teresa (Martin) Hickey.

Kevin graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College and Puget Sound Electrical Program. &nbsp;He served in the United States Coast Guard where he received the Distinguished Service Medal. &nbsp;He was an electrician for BNSF Railway Company.

Kevin is survived by: his wife; siblings: Marty (Jenni) Hickey, Brian (Diane) Hickey, Maureen (Doug) Wulf, Colin (Carolyn) Hickey, Megan Hickey; nieces and nephews: &nbsp;Sean, Sarah, Kevin, Kyle, and Alexander Hickey and Connor, Kate and Kelly Wulf, and Daci (Justin) Carter.

Darlene Andsager died on Wednesday, August 14, of complications of dementia. Born in Long Beach, California, on March 26, 1933, she lived in Kansas for more than 75 years, mostly around Hutchinson.

Darlene was a realtor with Century 21 for about 20 years. She also drove a school bus for USD 313 (Buhler) and was a writer for the Inman Review/Buhler News. She was a cashier at WalMart for a short period in the 2000s.

Darlene married Forrest “Bill”/“Andy” Andsager on October 6, 1948. They lived in Dodge City for a few years, then moved to Hutchinson when he was appointed as manager of the Singer Sewing Machine store. Both loved horses, and they were longtime members of the Sand Hill Saddle Club. Darlene was a founding member of the Kansas Girls’ Barrel Racing Association.

Darlene is survived by her two children, Julie Andsager (Thanos Papanicolaou), Knoxville, Tenn., and Jon Andsager (Menchie Morales), Frisco, Texas. She is survived by her nephews Larry Van Horn (Sharon), Wichita; Stephen Andsager, Columbia, Mo.; Kevin Andsager; Darin Andsager; and Tim Kerwood; and nieces Judy Corcoran, Hutchinson; Pam Schell, Sterling, Colo.; Frances Seaworth, Fort Collins, Colo.; Karen Benedict (Carter), Burlington, Colo.; Jana Miller, Fort Worth, Texas; Kim Andsager, Hutchinson; Lisa Judd, Wichita; and Joyce Anderson, Wichita. Brothers-in-law Richard Andsager (Mary Ruth); Marvin Andsager, Hutchinson; and sister-in-law Phyllis Kerwood, Wichita. Beloved former daughter-in-law Dawn Seymour, and numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Darlene in death were her parents, John Ernest Hill and Anna Grace Hill, of rural Hutchinson; her husband, Forrest; and her parents-in-law, Willis and Rosa Andsager, of Plevna. Geraldine Faye “Gerry” Gough, 90, of Hutchinson, died August 14, 2024, at Hester Care Center. She was born July 8, 1934, in Abbyville, to Robert L. and Hazel E. (Birket) Breidenstein.

Gerry graduated from Arlington High School in 1952 and from Salt City Business College. She was a teller at Hutchinson National Bank for 38 years. Gerry enjoyed gardening, sewing, and camping, as she and Mel traveled all over the county with NOMADS. Gerry also volunteered for nearly 30 years with the American Diabetes Association and at Hutchinson Hospital. She was a member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, serving as church treasurer and in U.M.W., and helped for many years in the church’s cafeteria at the Kansas State Fair.

On April 5, 1952, Gerry married Melvin E. “Mel” Gough, in Arlington. They shared nearly 71 years of marriage before his death on March 25, 2023.

She is survived by: her sons, Rodney Gough (Patty) of Wichita, Randy Gough of Winfield; grandchildren, Billy Douglas, Rachel Keeton (Lauren), Ashley Barton, Corey Gough; eight great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Pat Herring of Richwood, TX; and many extended family members.

Gerry was preceded in death by: her parents, daughter, Rene Faye Short; sister, Vera Oliver; and great-granddaughter, Jaedyn Douglas.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2024, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, 206 E. Avenue E, South Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Abbyville Cemetery.

Terry Yost passed away peacefully in his home on 8-13-2024 passing at the age of 75.

He was born in Kansas City Kansas on 12/18/1948. His childhood in Newton instilled a lifelong passion for outdoor activities. Terry was a letter carrier in Hutchinson, Kansas for 30 years.&nbsp; Moving to Coffeyville Kansas after his retirement.&nbsp; He and Jan enjoyed 51 years of marriage.

He is survived by wife Jan, son Joshua, (Violeta) and grandchildren Alejandra, Alex, and Nicholas.&nbsp; Great grandchildren Luciano and Mattias. Terry is preceded in death by daughter Melissa.

Leasial William Orndoff, 72, passed away in Ellinwood, Kansas on August 7th, 2024. 

Born October 17, 1951 in Marshall, Arkansas he was the son of John Wesley and Eugenie May (Lea) Orndoff. 

Leasial spent decades working in the oilfield before retirement. 

He married Patricia Ann (Hammersmith) Collins on September 10, 2010. She survives of the home in Ellinwood, Kansas. 

Other survivors include sons, Shawn Orndoff, Columbus, OH and James Orndoff, Lake Charles, LA; stepchildren, William and Roger Collins, Kelly Baker, Tracy Menges, Patty Collins; grandchildren, Chase, Jarah, Lane, Karter, and Kamryn Orndoff and many step-grandchildren. 

Leasial also had 7 siblings and was preceded in death by his parents.

Leasial William Orndoff |1951-2024|

Edmund L. Stay, Sr., grandad, gpa of Rogers, AR, formerly of Hutchinson, KS, met his Lord &amp; Savior August 12, 2024, while surrounded by his wife and children. He was ready and looking forward to seeing Jesus and his great grandson, Dominic again who was killed in an accident at age 15.

Ed was born in Schenectady, NY on March 7, 1939, to Fredrick and Winifred Stay. He joined the Navy in May of 1956 and was honorably discharged in May of 1958. While stationed in Hutchinson, KS he met his future wife, Lorana Carter. They were married on August 5, 1960.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, John and Laura Carter; 2 sister-in-laws; 4 sisters; 3 brother-in-laws; and 5 brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years; son, Wesley (Jackie) of Gravette, AR; son, Eddie (Esther) of Monroe, WA; daughter by heart, Nancy Curtis of Gravette, AR; 6 grandchildren, Zachary Stay, Madison Parsons, Mary (Michael) Heath, John (Joy) Stay of Bella Vista, Mason Curtis, and Quincy Curtis; 11 great grandchildren, Miah, Carmella, Henley, Thatcher Parsons, Sadie, James, Florence Heath, Adaline, Arabelle, Ayo, Avalynn Stay, and one due in December; sister, Doris Clark of Hutchinson, KS; sister, Bonnie of NY; and many nieces and nephews that were very special to him and he loved dearly.

Ed has been cremated and a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Baptist Church, 1599 West Olive Street, Rogers, AR 72756 officiated by Pastor Ed Pearson. A memorial service will be held at Westside Baptist Church at 400 West 12th in Hutchinson, KS on August 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

June J. Campbell, 86, of Goessel, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the Bethesda Home. She was born on June 30, 1938 in rural Tampa, Kansas, to Elvin and Elrena (Redger) Bergman.

She was a member of the Spring Valley Mennonite Church, rural Canton.

June was united in marriage to Earl R. Campbell on June 28, 1956 in rural Tampa. They shared 47 years of marriage before his passing on April 4, 2004.

She worked as a CNA and TA at Newton Medical Center. She also sold Avon for several years.

June was involved with the EHU quilting group. She enjoyed throwing Tupperware and Stanley parties. She loved traveling with Earl.

June is survived by her five children, Rhonda (Jim) Ewertz of Sterling, Rick (Connie) Campbell of Canton, Rita (John) Krehbiel of Ottawa, Roger (Marla) Campbell of Goessel, and Robyn Campbell of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Sally) Bergman of Belle Plaine, and Verlin (Flora) Bergman of Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Randy; grandchildren, Michelle Campbell, Jodi Campbell, Matthew Campbell and Jesse Campbell; and brothers, Alvin and Larry Bergman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Spring Valley Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Kenneth A. “Bo” Dunn, 90, of Abbyville, died August 12, 2024. He was born February 19, 1934, in Abbyville, to Wayne C. and Mildred M. (Waddle) Dunn.&nbsp;

Ken graduated from Abbyville High School in 1952 and attended Wichita Technical Institute. He served in the United State Army as Corporal from 1954 to 1956. He worked as a field technician for Unisys Corporation, fixing computerized bank machines. Ken enjoyed farming, camping and traveling across the country in his motorhome.&nbsp;

He was a member of Abbyville Community Church, Abbyville Senior Citizens and Abbyville Booster Club.

On July 3, 1954, he married Betty Joan Birket, in Abbyville. They shared over 64 years of marriage, prior to her death on April 14, 2019.

Ken is survived by: children, Kelley (Tom Wilson) Lester of Arlington, Bret (Stacey) Dunn of Abbyville, Stacey (Wayne) Baughman of Abbyville; grandchildren, Jonathan (Lori) Dye of Sand Springs, OK, Krystal (Justin) Watkins, Tyler (Amanda) Radi, Whitney (Mike) Knutson, all of Hutchinson, Kelcey Dunn of Abbyville, and Dalton Dunn of Dundee, OR; great-grandchildren, Cody, Harley, Corbin, Hudson, Izzy, Sterling, Meadow, Livi and Levi.

Barbara graduated from Pomona High School in 1952. &nbsp;She was a member of Crosspoint Church- Hutchinson. &nbsp;She enjoyed making stuffed rabbits for the grandchildren, crafting ceramics and making all types of greeting cards on the computer.

She married Willard Bennett on July 27, 1954. &nbsp;They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. &nbsp;They had two sons- Bruce and Bradford “Brad.”

Barbara is survived by: her husband, Willard; son, Brad (Laura) Bennett of Benton, KS; grandchildren- Lindsay (Dan) Mallard of San Antonio, TX, Darby (Jake) Kite of Grain Valley, MO, Jared (Sarah) Bennett of Wichita, Melissa (Montana) Ralstin of Overland Park, Kelsie (Brandon) Bollinger of Clearwater, and Tabitha (John) Payton of Hockley, TX; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; son Bruce Bennett; and sister Kay Todd.

Melva Dean Tremaine, 81, of Sterling, Kansas, peacefully crossed over to her eternal home on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Melva was born January 29, 1943, in Stigler, Oklahoma. She was the seventh child of eight born to Doctor Franklin and Dorothy Ash Dover Watley. Melva attended York College, York, Nebraska in the fall of 1961, where she met the love of her life, Ronald Walter Tremaine. Ron and Melva were married on August 26, 1962, and enjoyed just shy of 62 years together.

Melva earned her bachelor's degree in health information management from St. Scholastica University in Duluth, Minnesota. She spent her professional career in medical records coding and administration, retiring in 2012.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, watching birds and the squirrels outside her dining room window, and spending time with her family. She was especially known for her “Melva Blankets” that have been used to swaddle more babies than we know! Melva was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, most recently worshipping with the Sterling Church of Christ.

Melva is survived by her husband, Ron (Sterling, KS), brother Jerry Watley (Cassville, MO), son Mark and his wife Bonnie (Nickerson, KS), son Eric and his wife Jenny (York, NE), daughter Kari and her husband Dave Savage (Webb City, MO), foster daughter Betty and her husband Bob Reitz (Trenton, MO), fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Melva was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Julie, brothers Norman Watley, Orlin Watley, and Dale Watley, her sisters Joyce Eubanks, Shirley Gault and Velma Wiltfong.

Lonnie Ray Ensminger, 86, a lifetime McPherson County resident, peacefully entered the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Bethesda Home in Goessel, KS.

Lonnie was born May 22, 1938, in McPherson, KS, the son of Clarence Ray and Lillian Grace (Hulse) Ensminger. He attended elementary school in a one room school, West Fairview, and graduated from McPherson High School in 1956.&nbsp; On August 19, 1961, Lonnie was united in marriage to Loueen Marie Lough at the Hebron Lutheran Church in Burdick, KS. This union was blessed with daughters, Lona and Lori.

He was a machinist, mechanic, and Assistant Superintendent of Electrical Production at McPherson Board of Public Utilities where he worked for 41 years, retiring in 1998. Following retirement, he enjoyed tinkering with &nbsp;Cushman motor scooters.

Lonnie was a United States Navy veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post #24. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and Cushman scooters, camping, traveling in his 5th wheel trailer, and spending winters in Rio Grande Valley, TX. For many years, Lonnie and Loueen loved being winter snow birds in Texas. He belonged in the Kansas Cushman Club and was a member of Countryside Covenant Church. Most of all, he loved his God, God’s word, and his family. He and Loueen had a blessed marriage and wonderful relationship with their daughters and grandchildren, crediting it all to their forgiving and loving Lord. He loved spending time with family and working on projects with and for anyone.
