Venita L. Waggoner, 88, was ushered into the presence of her Savior on Monday, May 27, 2024 after her 14 yr battle with polycythemia vera. She was born in Anthony, Kansas to Eugene Griffith Gates and Jamima (Garlow) Gates, the seventh of nine children. She was raised in rural Hazelton, Kansas where she attended Sand Creek one room school house until attending Hazelton Schools and was a 1953 graduate at Hazelton High School. She loved competition and playing softball, basketball, volleyball in her school years.

The love of her life, Dee, saw her when she was in 8th grade and stated he would marry her, which he did on June 27, 1953. They began their married life in Fort Riley, Kansas, where their first son Greg was born in 1954. They returned to the Wichita area in 1955 where their daughter Patricia was born. Dee and Venita moved to Corwin, Kansas to be close to family where two more children, David and Jeannie, joined the family circle. 1958 brought heartache at the death of their infant son David. The family moved to rural Valley Center in 1962 where they have remained to this day. 

Dee and Venita rodeoed on weekends until 1967 when she came to know the Lord. They began attending church where she did a 4 year Bible Study with Mrs. Nutter where she grounded her children in seeking the Lord, studying God's Word and living for Him. She was an amazing prayer warrior when God placed names on her heart and when people asked for prayer she would gather the family to kneel and pray at the couch. She wore the beloved names wife, mom, Nana, sister, "Skeeter", aunt, cousin and friend. 

Having learned baking, cooking and all from her mom on the family farm, she was well known for her cinnamon rolls, chicken n noodles, jellies (sand plum fav), cookies and more. In VC she was a waitress at Jones Restaurant, cooked for USD 262 schools, then since 2003 at Baker Funeral Home VC. 

They worked with youth, loved helping around the church, and willing to serve in any capacity. Their greatest love also was their family, and traveled to see their grandchildren excel in so many areas of life. 

Venita is survived by her children, Greg (Sandy) Waggoner of Amarillo, TX, Patricia (Mark) Huston of Hutchinson, KS and Jeannie (Mike) Voges of Valley Center; grandchildren, Boone (Dayna) Waggoner, Amber (Tim) Swartz, Tandolynn (Josh) Hinojosa, Jenna (Brad) Brack, Heather (Doug) Marshall, John (Dresden) Huston, Clay (Brittany) Waggoner, Kelloway Norton; great grandchildren, Colt Waggoner, Emma Waggoner, Jeremiah Swartz, Kelli Waggoner, Aurora Swartz, Caedmon Marshall, Conley Brack, Josiah Swartz, Cora Brack, Ariella Swartz, Illeana Marshall, Audrey Huston, Thane Norton, Heidi Huston, Tyler Moeller and Maggie Moeller; brother Harold Gates, sister Shirley Hamm; brother-in-law David Waggoner, sister-in-law Joyce Waggoner, many nephews, nieces, other family and friends. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband F. Dee Waggoner, infant son David Eugene Waggoner, parents Eugene and Jamima Gates, siblings Merle Gates, Eileen Griekspoor, Dean Gates, Norma Ballard, Robert “Bob” Gates, and Roger Gates, many nieces, and nephews. &nbsp;

Gloria Jane McMurray, 95, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital.

Gloria was born on November 1, 1928, in Thurman, IA, the daughter of Daniel Clayton and Vera Mabel (Ewell) Tillman.&nbsp; She graduated from McPherson High School and attended McPherson College. On December 21, 1947, Gloria was united in marriage to Robert W. Lowe.&nbsp; He died January 17, 1969.&nbsp; On July 7, 1979, Gloria married Samuel H. McMurray.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on September 27, 2007.

She was a CNA at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, helped on the family farm, and also worked at the McPherson Sentinel. Gloria was a longtime member of New Gottland Covenant Church.

Survivors include: her son, Steve Lowe of McPherson; two daughters, Sandy (Steve) Ratzlaff of Hutchinson, KS and Sheri (Gary) Abell of McPherson, KS; step-children, Vickie (Russ) Dryden of Haysville, KS and Brad (Jane) McMurray of Plant City, FL; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son, Stan Lowe; a brother, Carroll Tillman; a sister, Lucille Wittenberg; and grandson, Corey Bruce.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp; The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 6, at New Gottland Covenant Church with Pastor Dan Parry officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Virginia (Schmidt) Payer Olson, age 98 years, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, at Presbyterian Manor of Wichita, KS. She was born on April 23,1926, in Newton, KS, to Arthur and Edna Schmidt. She was a loving mother, wife, and friend. She was active in her community and was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church.

She grew up on a farm outside of Newton; the oldest of three children, with brothers, Orville (deceased) and Robert.

Virginia believed in the importance of getting a good education and was the first in her family to attend college. While in school, she was president of her Kappa Delta Sorority.

Virginia graduated from Kansas State College (now Kansas State University) with a degree in home economics.

After graduation she taught at Peabody High School, married, became a homemaker to raise her children (Wendell and Beth Martens), later taught at Rosalia High School, and later worked as the compliance officer at the National Bank of Wichita.

Virginia liked expanding her knowledge, determined to always do her best, and had a good sense of humor. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, sewing, volunteering, playing cards, and gathering with family and friends.

She is survived by her son: Wendell Martens of Clarkston, MI, daughter: Beth Humlicek (Don) of Wichita, KS, brother: Robert Schmidt of Newton, KS, step-daughter: Cheryl Payer of New York, NY, step-daughter Leslie (Robert) Higgins of Redondo Beach, CA.

Viola Agnes (McCullough) Shaw, 93, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS.

She was born on April 16, 1931, on the family Homestead in Pritchett, Colorado in Baca County, the daughter of Moody W. and Fanny C. (Kendall) McCullough. She and her family moved to Medicine Lodge, KS in 1935. She attended a one-room country school at Mumford on Ridge Road in Barber County. She then attended Medicine Lodge High School, graduating with the class of 1949. She attended Bible Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX.

Viola worked for 25 years at Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Services (ASCS), (now Farm Service Agency FSA) in Barber County, Pratt County and Reno County. After retiring from FSA, she worked at the Hutchinson Public Library for 6 years.

Viola played the piano and organ since the age of 16. She also played the accordion and was faithful in sharing these God given musical talents with her church, family, and friends. She was a Charter Member of New Hope Baptist Church, Hutchinson, KS. She was the church treasurer for 14 years until she suffered a stroke in 2010.

She was formerly married to Robert Lawson and J. D. Winborne.

She married Jack Shaw Sr., on August 5, 1977. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brothers, Jim, Tom, Jack, and Roy McCullough.

Viola is survived by her children and grandchildren, Judith (Paul) Henson, (David (Katie) Renfro, Benjamin Renfro, Krista (Michael) Marshall), Bill (Roylene) Lawson, (Colby (Jesse) Evans, Zachary (Miranda) Lawson), and Vicky Winborne Stecklein, (Tori (Mark) Ellsaesser, Tyson (Rachel) Stecklein), and twelve great grandchildren. Stepchildren, Jack W. (Dee) Shaw Jr., Diana (Rick) Ries and Terry Jean Keller. Eight step grandchildren, twelve step great-grandchildren and one step great-great grandson.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Highland Cemetery, 803 N. Iliff, Medicine Lodge, KS, with Pastor Harold Nelson officiating. Gayla R. Golden, went to be with her Lord &amp; Savior on May 24, 2024. She passed peacefully at her home in Cunningham, KS at the age of 61.

Gayla battled colon cancer for 4 ½ years.

She was born April 25, 1963 in Parsons, KS to Ned R. and Norma Jean Golden. In 1981, she graduated from Cunningham High School, then went on to get a Fashion Merchandising degree from Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS.

She moved home after College and lived on the farm, working at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham for 39 years in the laundry and dietary departments. When not working at Hilltop, she was busy working and taking care of horses and spending time with her dogs and farm animals. She was always happiest to be at the farm.

Gayla loved the Lord, her animals and her family was her pride and joy. She loved cheerleading during her school years. She was a member of Cunningham Christian Church and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Gayla will always be remembered by her positive attitude, encouragement for others and many stories that she loved to tell and how her eyes would “sparkle” when talking about her family. She had set a goal to attend both her nieces weddings and was able to achieve that goal.

She is survived by her mother, Norma Jean; brother, Randy (Carolyn) of Pratt; nieces, Destiny (Dusty) Schartz of Hutchinson, Madison (Kasey) Gilpin of Wichita and great nephew, Hudson Leigh Schartz of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her father, Ned R. Golden.

LeRoy A. ‘Sonny’ Blew, 88, of Hutchinson, died May 23, 2024, at his home. He was born January 6, 1936, in rural Reno County, to Elzie Bernard and Elsie (Miller) Blew.

He spent many years as a truck driver for Dillons. LeRoy was a member of several organizations, including the Central Kansas Gun Club, the Hutch Bunch RC Club, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife.

LeRoy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He attended Partridge Community Church. &nbsp;LeRoy served for eight years in the Kansas Army National Guard.

On August 17, 1956, he married Shirley Ann Hirst, in Partridge, KS. They shared over 67 years of marriage before his passing.

LeRoy is survived by: &nbsp;his wife, Shirley A. Blew, Hutchinson; daughters, Cindy Engstrom and LeAnn (Brian) Robertson, Hutchinson; grandsons, Kyle (Jenny) Robertson, Wamego, KS, Dale Engstrom and Kelly (Jana) Engstrom, Wichita, KS; great-grandchildren, Alan, Amelia, Amara, Parker, and Avery; and sister, Ina Baltzell, Colorado Springs, CO.

Walter D. Neufeld, 95, of Inman, Kansas passed away May 24, 2024 at Hospice House of Hutchinson. He was born March 13, 1929 to Abraham F. and Marie (Doerksen) Neufeld. Walter was a lifetime resident of Inman. He graduated from Inman High School with the class of 1947.

He was a farmer and also worked at Buhler Mills in Inman as a wheat buyer. During retirement, Walter did maintenance work and lawn care for twenty years at Pleasant View Home.

Walter was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church of Inman where he served as Trustee and Treasurer. He also attended Union Valley Church. Walter served on the Inman School Board for six years.

Walter married Helen Ann Regier on June 20, 1950. She passed away February 10, 2012. He married Nadine Miller on January 16, 2016. She survives of Inman.

Other survivors include son, Steven (Kathy) Neufeld of Mena Arkansas; daughters Kathy (Aaron) Chaplin of Towanda, Kansas, and Laurie Glenn of Inman; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Ann; sister, Susie Neufeld; brother, Bill Neufeld; sons-in-law, Steve Goering and John Glenn.

Mario was born on November 8, 1953, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. &nbsp;He worked for Tyson Foods for many years until his retirement. Mario had several hobbies, he enjoyed painting and drawing but his favorite was playing in a Mexican polka group. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers, and a sister. &nbsp;

Mario is survived by four sons, three brothers, and seven grandchildren.

Colleen was a graduate of Raymond High School, Raymond, KS, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, and Adela Hale Business College, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. &nbsp;Colleen attended Baptist churches in Raymond, KS, and Hutchinson, KS.

She was a homemaker. &nbsp;Colleen and her husband reigned as the king and queen of the New Orleans, LA, Mardi Gras in 1973. &nbsp;She served as the president of the Newcomers Club of New Orleans.

On July 26, 1952, Colleen married Fred Dean Stockstill at the First Baptist Church, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 68 years of marriage, prior to his death on December 3, 2020.

Colleen is survived by: &nbsp;her niece, Kathleen ‘Kathy’ (Duane) Carey of Hutchinson, KS; nephews, Mark (Beth) McKibben of Hutchinson, KS, and Steven (Kim) McKibben of Wichita, KS; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; husband; infant sister, Doris Thompson; and sister, Alberta ‘Bobbie’ McKibben.

Samuel Eugene ‘Gene’ Schrock, 91, died May 22, 2024, at his home. &nbsp;He was born October 11, 1932, in Hutchinson, KS, to Samuel Schrock and Katie (Miller) Schrock.

Gene was an over-the-road truck driver. &nbsp;He enjoyed driving just about anything, from an eighteen-wheeler to a motorcycle. &nbsp;Gene and his wife Carol would jump on their motorcycle and travel the United States. When in the Hutchinson area, he could be found daily at the local truck stop sharing a cup of coffee with his buddies. &nbsp;Other than Gene’s family, his true love was his ‘hobby farm’ that he took great pleasure and pride in when he was there.

On December 27, 1953, Gene married Carol June Bontrager at the Yoder Mennonite Church, Yoder, KS. &nbsp;They shared over 70 years of marriage.

Gene is survived by: &nbsp;his wife, Carol Schrock of South Hutchinson, KS; children, Roger Schrock of San Angelo, TX, Jacque (John) Herdzina of Omaha, NE, Carla (Randy Vickers) of Wichita, KS, and Dee (Stewart) Terbush of Arcadia, OK; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sister, Doris Yoder of Michigan.

Kirk William Stanley, age 46, died May 19, 2024. He was born March 19, 1978, in Newton, Kansas to Ron and Jeanette (Williams) Stanley, then raised in Valley Center KS where he spent the rest of his life. He was preceded by his grandparents, Luther and Katherine Stanley of Valley Center, Kansas. Kirk is survived by his children Welden, Hayden, and Huxley. They were the joys of his life. He is also survived by his parents, Ron and Jeanette of Valley Center, KS, grandparents, Margaret and Gordon Williams of Valley Center, KS, sister Erin Reffner (Jarod), niece and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many treasured friends. He was legally separated.

Kirk had a deep love of farming throughout his life. As a child he would sometimes stand on the playground and watch his Dad farm the area around the school, instead of playing. He held onto that fascination and love. It was only surpassed later by his love for his children when they came along. Kirk will be remembered by man of his willingness and skill to help others. He could always be called upon to help, whether it was fixing something (which he could do like no one else) or rescuing someone stranded or in need. Kirk graduated from Valley Center high School then went on to the Wichita Area Technical College where he studied and excelled in Welding. Being able to weld skillfully helped him and many others in farming and also gave him another way to help others in need.

Kirk's family will always remember how he could light up a room when he walked in with his humor and love; how much he loved playing with his kids (like he was one!) and watching their sports and events; and how proud we are of how he always went out of his way to help others.

Visitation will be held at Petersen Family Funeral Home in Newton, KS on Wednesday May 29, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His Celebration of Life service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Valley Center on May 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

Katie H. Yoder, 80, of South Hutchinson, passed away to see her Heavenly Father May 23, 2024, at Mennonite Friendship Communities. She was born September 19, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Henry A. and Mary (Yoder) Miller.

Katie attended East Eureka School. She was a homemaker, loved canning vegetables with her sisters and participating in quilting bees, and in recent years loved joining in the social activities at Mennonite Friendship Communities. Katie was passionate about her faith in Christ and was very active in her church, Maranatha Church, in rural Hutchinson.

On April 10, 1965, Katie married Lloyd H. Yoder, in Hutchinson. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before his death on January 23, 2017.

She is survived by: her son, Curtis L. Yoder (Tiziana Del Vecchio) of Casagiove, Italy; daughter, Gayle Yoder of Topeka; grandchildren, Matthew Warren of El Dorado, Alexia Yoder of Monticello, MN, Christian Tyler Yoder and Darin Yoder of Centennial, CO, Katianna Yoder of Casagiove, Italy; siblings, Eldon Miller of Clayhole, KY, Melvin Miller (Alma) of Walnut Creek, OH, Fannie Yoder of Broadway, VA, Irene Yoder of Leburn, KY, John Miller (Darlene) of South Hutchinson, Velma Yoder (Henry) of Hutchinson, Ruth Miller (Ervin) of Overland Park, Arlene Mast (Joe) of Cambridge, VA, Esther Miller (John) of Bourbon, IL, Ben Miller (Marlene) of Wichita; sister-in-law, Vi Miller of Crawford, MS; and many extended family members.

Katie was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Dennis Miller; sister-in-law, Ella June Miller; and brothers-in-law, Albert Yoder and Alvin Yoder.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Maranatha Church, 3115 Blanchard Ave. SW, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Emma “Ruth” Harris, 85, passed away May 17, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born January 9, 1939, in Mesilla Park, NM, the daughter of Emil Donal and Sallie Irtle McGee Wooldrige. She was a 1958 graduate of Pecos High School, Pecos, TX. She had worked as a clerk at the Pecos, TX grocery store and for over 20 years at the Phillips 66 in Aurora, CO. She took care of and loved all her grandchildren.

On August 28, 1991, she married Lonnie Gaylon Harris in Reeves County, Pecos, Texas. He passed away on November 10, 1991.

Survivors include her children: Sally (James) Nail, Texas, Ann (James) Akins, Texas, Jo Kay (William) Sullivan, Kansas, and Lonnie (Sue) Harris, Washington; two brothers, Daniel Wooldridge, North Carolina and Joe Wooldridge, Texas; 2 sisters, Mary Hoffman, and Frances Loden, both of Texas; 19 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 14 great great grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; sons, Leon, Ronnie, and David Harris; a brother, Donald Wooldridge; and a sister, Lavern Marcotte.

Daniel Lee “Dan” Wicks, 65, died May 21, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita. &nbsp;He was born August 24, 1958, in Kansas City, KS, to David Eugene and Dorothy Jean (Lees) Wicks.

Dan graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1977. &nbsp;His passion for vehicles led him to own his own business, Dan’s Auto Repair &amp; Sales, for over 40 years. &nbsp;In addition, Dan was a landlord, owning Wick’s Rentals. &nbsp;He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, music and animals, especially dogs. &nbsp; Dan’s career in the vehicle business was also his hobby. &nbsp;After work, he could most likely be found working on vehicles in his garage.

In 2004, he met Keith Barnes, Jr. and they became inseparable.&nbsp;

Dan is survived by: &nbsp;his husband, Keith; brother, Darren Wicks (LuAnn), all of Hutchinson; numerous nieces and nephews; and his “lucky” dog, Sassy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;

Dwane Michael Jones, 70, of Pratt, Kansas died Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with his wife and son by his side.

He was born on June 5, 1953 in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Virgil and Helen Louise Mooney Jones, Sr. Dwane was raised in the Hutchinson area where he attended Hutchinson High School.

He married Barbara Kay White on June 17, 1972 in Hutchinson. They continued to live in Hutchinson until moving to Pratt 12 years ago. Dwane and Barbara were member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Pratt.

Dwane had been a truck driver for over 45 years, logging over 500,000 miles during his career. He had worked for Dillons before becoming and over the road truck driver.

Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home; son Jeffrey Owen Jones and wife Cyndi of Pratt; brothers Virgil Wesley Jones, Jr. and his wife Angela of Hutchinson, Carl Jones of Nevada, Tommy Jones of Hutchinson; sisters Brenda Yingling and husband Randy and Tina McCoy all of Hutchinson, Mary Gray of Arkansas; and three grandchildren Owen Tyler Jones, Maddie Kay Jones, and Konnar Michael Jones.

Dwane is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ricky Lee Jones and John Waldon Jones; and brother-in-law Charles “Chuck” Gray.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 5th, Dwane’s birthday, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Pratt.

Step-brother Rusty Phillips (Brenda) of Wichita, KS. Nephews David Fields (Brenda) and Randy Fields (Margo) all of Wichita, KS. Several nieces and other nephews. Many dear and beloved friends. 

Preceded in death by her parents Olen Fields and Verildean "Sally" Phillips, step-father Les Phillips, and half-brother Raymond Fields.

Monica Lane Svaty, 77, the loving wife of Karl Svaty and mother of Sonya, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024.

Monica will be honored with a Celebration of Life at home, to be announced. 

Monica was born July 6, 1946, and raised in Newton, Kansas by her parents, Lucius and Polly Miller. Monica graduated from Newton High in 1964. Following graduation, she attended Emporia State University before transferring to Kansas State University in 1966 to join Karl (Jerry). Monica and Karl were married on November 22, 1967, and both graduated in May, 1968. Monica had earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. In the summer of 1968, a beautiful daughter, Sonya, was born to the family. Shortly after, Monica considered becoming a substitute teacher and wrote a letter to the Manhattan school district. They called immediately to request a visit, and when they learned her sister also taught there several years prior, she was offered a math teaching position in the high school. After two years of graduate school, Karl was awarded a master's degree in engineering and obtained employment in New Jersey. Although quite a change, Monica quickly adapted. Unfortunately, Karl's position only lasted until February 1971 when he was summoned to become a US Army Lieutenant. After spending some time at several Army posts in the US, Karl was assigned a position in Europe as a tank platoon leader in a tank battalion. Monica and Sonya

Monica's sense of adventure, her ingenuity and creativity in solving any sort of problem and kindness to all creatures great and small will be remembered by all who loved her. Monica is survived by her husband Karl and daughter, Sonya of Chicago, her sister-in-law Anne Svaty and partner Mike of Lafayette, LA, her sister Paula and husband Jack Swickard of Littleton, CO, other nieces and nephews, and her rescue cat, Abby. Viola Ruth Barnt, 88, of Burrton, died May 20, 2024, at Haven House. She was born September 2, 1935, in Codell, to John Orvin “J.O.” and Carrie Viola (Cline) Bice.

Viola graduated from Codell High School in 1953. She worked as an EKG technician at the Hertzler Clinic in Halstead for nearly 30 years before retirement. Viola loved gardening, quilting, and various other crafts. She was a member of Burrton United Methodist Church.

On September 5, 1954, Viola married Loran “Lee” Barnt, in Codell. He died July 11, 1989.

She is survived by: her daughters, Donna Martin (Ron) of Mount Hope, Deb Jones (Casey) of Adrian, TX; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Burrton Cemetery.

Doctor Gregory Dean Postier D.C., 38, of Manhattan, Kansas passed away on May 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and passion for life and health.&nbsp;

Greg was born on October 8, 1985, in Hutchinson, Kansas and raised in Inman, where he graduated from Inman High School before pursuing higher education, first at Hutchinson Community College and then at Kansas State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. His journey in healthcare continued at Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2012. Greg began his profession at Goble-Heal Chiropractic clinics in Indiana, and in the fall of 2015, he fulfilled his dream of opening his own practice, Postier Chiropractic.&nbsp;

Greg was passionate about helping others reach their best physical lives as a Chiropractor who specialized in the Gonstead method. He was intentional when he sat with his patients and helped them dream of what life could be like if they didn’t carry the weight of physical injury or pain. He loved being able to educate people on the importance of the nervous system in every other part of their body’s functioning. &nbsp;He loved reading testimonials about how his work was able to change his patient’s lives in such tangible ways.

On a more personal note, to know him was to love him.

To love him was to know that one of the most epic qualities about Greg was his ability to embody numerous sides of himself all at once. He could go from being ornery and pranking to being compassionate in an instant and laser focused on fixing any of your problems that he was able to. This was a quality he even claimed was a critical piece of his “provider theory” that he took pride in developing and detailing over the course of his life.&nbsp; In fact, this would have been a topic for chapter 3 of his future book on the subject.

He wore many hats over the years and was involved in a wide variety of hobbies and causes to include: being a hardworking farm kid, an avid outdoorsman, an adept “provider”, a catfishing champion, a bird hunter, an intense fisherman, an amateur model (even if his role was “coach/dad” and not an “athlete”), a skilled handyman, a junior college mascot, a playful prankster, a fierce advocate for the underdogs (especially the teens he supported as a volunteer with the Flint Hills Foster Teen Camps for the last 7 years), a devoted friend, brother, son and nephew, and of course a very passionate and gifted doctor.

With his mind always active on improving and caring for people around him, he found peace in the quiet, focused moments of dialing in his kayak for the next adventure and he would spend countless hours fine tuning all his equipment. From the days he started fishing in the creek near his home, he started dreaming of owning a boat and spending as much time fishing as possible. Potentially the only thing he loved more than his time fishing was persistently thinking up witty banter that would “provide” laughter and smiles to those in earshot. This was a skill largely shaped by his childhood friendships that he remained fiercely loyal to throughout his life.

While his provider theory was often mentioned in jest, he also deeply personified the essence of being a generous giver. It meant something deeply for him to be able to

give anything, he could to those around him to help them survive and live more fully, be it through sustenance (in other words fish) or the deepest form of empathy that supported people on their terms. He gave so much more in his short life to the world and people around him than most people are able to give over a century.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Carlene Postier, grandparents Lynn and Lenore Postier and Quinton and Ella Juhnke, and&nbsp;<a>uncle</a>&nbsp;Dwayne Juhnke.&nbsp;

Greg is survived by his beloved cat Hobie, fiancée Amy Billinger, sister Lori (Matt) Elwonger, uncle Lowel (Jackie) Postier, aunt Norma Juhnke, and cousins Jesse Postier, Amanda Postier, Darin (Cassie) Juhnke, and Colette (Travis) Terrel.

Greg's passing has left a profound emptiness in the hearts of his many friends, who remember his warmth, kindness, helpfulness, humor, and unwavering friendship. His adventurous spirit, dedication to his profession, and love for family and friends will live on in the stories and memories shared by all who had the privilege of knowing him.&nbsp;May the heart-warming and amusing stories he “provided” us all continue to bring laughter and comfort to all those who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM Rock Hills Church, Manhattan, KS with visitation to follow the service.&nbsp;Formal Attire not required (he would hate that unless that’s how he saw you regularly). If you have any pictures or stories you would like to share with the family, there will be an opportunity to share at the service.

Wanda Raye (Pedersen) Schmitz of Newton, KS passed away peacefully on May 19th, 2024 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas with family present. After a long battle with cancer, she is now free of pain and at peace.

Wanda was born to Jerry and Sharon (Murdock) Pedersen on October 14th, 1961 in Onawa, Iowa. She was raised by her Grandparents Dale and Etta Waples in Axtell, Kansas. She attended Axtell Public School and graduated in 1979. She married William Schmitz on September 13th, 1980 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell, Kansas. Wanda and William were sweet on each other since the 7th grade but were too bashful to do anything about it until after graduating high school. To this union was born a son, Paul; the biggest joy in her world besides marrying William.

Wanda loved being a homemaker, cooking, baking, gardening, needlework, and just taking care of her family.

Wanda was preceded in death by baby daughter Stacey, her Grandparents Dale and Etta Waples and her father Jerry Pedersen.

Wanda is survived by her husband William, son Paul and beloved chiweenie dog, Sofia; sisters Theresa (Jerry) Sarmiento of Wichita, Kansas, Kimberley (Leonard) Henke of Akron, Iowa and brother Jerry Pedersen of Coffeyville, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews.
