
Norman Lee Morelan, 72, of Plevna, died November 9, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born February 12, 1953, in St. John, to Arvy and Ruth (Schmidt) Morelan.
Norman was affectionately recognized as “Stormin’ Norman” and was known as a Jack of all trades. Immediately after high school, he moved to Des Moines, Iowa to help family and work at their tire shop. After moving back, Norman worked at Pratt Cement Plant, Central States Gas Company and began working in the oil field where he became fluent in all positions. He worked at Vincent Oil, Kirkman Oil, Younger Energy, and Bullseye Oilfield. Norman also ran a gas station in Turon for his treasured uncle Wiley. He was a diligent man who worked long hard hours and did not complain. Norman loved spending time with his family and put their needs above his own.
Norman is survived by: beloved partner of 22 years, Donna Leslie of Plevna; children, Chris (Lisa) Morelan and Casey Morelan, both of Pratt; mother of children and friend, Cathy Morelan of Pratt; grandchildren, Colton (Tasha), Chase (Hailey), Cassidy, Tyler (Cassie), Brandon, McKenna, Kameron, Kambrey, Harper, Julian, Bentley, Brody, and Colton; one adored great-grandson, Karson Lee; and loving canine companions, Mika and Sammy.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Anna Hately; brother, Arvy Jr. Morelan; and sister-in-law, Marla Rogge.
Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. November 14, 2025, at Abbyville Community Church, 201 W. Ave. G, in Abbyville, with Pastor Dale Levering officiating. Burial will follow at Abbyville Cemetery. Friends may sign his book Tuesday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
Cremation has taken place.
