Guadalupe R. “Lupe” Ochoa, 71, died Feb. 12, 2021.&nbsp; She was born Feb. 20, 1949, in Winslow, AZ, to Fito and Placida (Raya) Moncayo.

Lupe graduated from Winslow High School, Winslow, AZ, in 1967.&nbsp; She worked as a waitress for over 20 years at Anchor Inn. Lupe loved her customers, and worked until November, when she became ill.&nbsp; She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

&nbsp;Lupe is survived by husband of 35 years, Mario Ochoa; children, Tammy Dixon (Jesus Aragon), Adriana Garcia (Douglas Mancia), Emiliano Pablo Raya, and Maria Ochoa (Alex Kayne); sisters, Rebecca Moncayo and Carol Moncayo; brothers, Henry Olague, Gilbert Moncayo, Phillip Moncayo, Richard Moncayo; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of customers and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, William Adrian Dixon; and a brother, Ernie Moncayo.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastors Chris Raigoza and Ryan Raigoza officiating.&nbsp; Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Sandra “Jane” Howard, 77, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 14, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 4, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Edward and Lola (Shook) Swanson.

Jane graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961. She worked for Hutch Vending, Countryside Lanes, and as a farmer’s wife. Jane loved to read and bowl.

Joseph Allen (Joe) Blazina passed this life into eternal life on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 at his home in Hutchinson. Joe was born on March 18, 1951 in Lyons, Kansas to Joseph and Helen(Brozek) Blazina.

Joe married the love of his life, Dawn Ellen (Bitsy) Main on June 24, 1972 in Robertsville, Missouri and to this union one daughter Melissa was born.

Joe was a career gas and oil worker. Working in Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Colorado for over 40 years; most of which was as a pipeline welder. Joe started his own business, Joes Welding and Excavation. Joe not only welded in the oil and gas industry but also for farmers and friends; of which many he did for no charge or recognition; just out of his generosity. Joe loved the outdoors - hunting, fishing, boating, camping and other outdoor activities. He loved to have cookouts at his home with family and friends. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and was so looking forward to this years SuperBowl. But Joe's favorite thing to do was to spend time with Bitsy no matter what they were doing. 

Joe is survived by his wife Bitsy of the home; daughter Melissa and Husband Keith Bishop of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sisters Joan Peterman, Kathy Immesote, Judy Henderson and Janet Herman all of Lyons, Kansas; brothers in law Scott and Kathy Main of Pineville, Missouri and Kelly Main of Westminster, Colorado; sisters in law Kristie Tovar of Winfield and Marla and Mike McGovney of Cunningham, Kansas; grandson Nick Griffin of Hutchinson; numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and brother in law David Main.

Harley S. Beachy, 86, passed away on Feb. 13, 2021 at his home in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born Dec. 25, 1934 to Samuel and Nettie (Miller) Beachy in Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Harley was a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Amish Church.

On May 9, 1957 he married Susie T. Schrock. She survives of the home.&nbsp; They shared over 63 years of marriage.

Other survivors include his children, Daniel (Susan) of Hutchinson, Nettie (Jay) Yoder, Mountain View, Arkansas, David (Carolyn), of Hutchinson, Samuel (Bernita), Uniontown, Ohio, Perry (Sharon), Jerry (Miriam), Jacob (Luane), and Harley Jr. (Elizabeth) all of Hutchinson; 46 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sister, Katie Yoder; brother-in-law, Willis Miller; sisters-in-law, Katie Beachy and Wilma Beachy, all of Hutchinson.

Dale attended schools in the Galva community.

He was a member of United Center Mennonite Church in Galva.

Dale was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Unruh on November 12, 1954 in Galva. She preceded him in death on August 4, 2020.

Leon David Nikkel was born Feb. 21, 1939 to Theodore P. and Helen Sarah (Schmidt) Nikkel. He went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 11, 2021. He was 81 years old. He was a beloved husband and grandfather.

Leon graduated from Goessel High School in 1957 and went to Bethel College one year. It was during this time that he met his wife, Karen, who he later married. Leon and Karen Kay Rodgers were married on Jan. 31, 1960. He was working two jobs, one at Hesston manufacturing, as a welder, and Builder’s Concrete.

In the summer months, he would gather a crew and go custom harvesting, starting at Enid, Oklahoma, through Kansas into Sterling, Colorado and up into Gilette, Wyoming and into Wolf Point, Montana.

We lived in Newton at this time and in the fall moved to the Schmidt Farm North of his folk’s home place, after Vince was born. We moved in August of 1961.

During this time, he fed out cattle and farmed.&nbsp; In the winter, Leon drove a truck for Prouty Truck Line, hauling corn to the Port in Houston, Texas, then he would pick up cottonseed meal and deliver it to the local elevator.

Leon loved feeding out cattle and farming. Later he became involved in the Quarter Horse business for about ten years. He won many trophies with his horses, showing them at local fairs along with the Kansas State Fair. At this time he was working at the Salina Sale Barn as a ring man and worked there for many years. Also, during this time, Leon became involved in Team Roping. He would go to many team roping events at Hutchinson and other places. He won a saddle at one of the roping events which he had still enjoyed. Leon held roping events at the Hillsboro Saddle Club.&nbsp; He also held many ropings at home where many local team ropers came. He then struck out on his own and began a livestock order business and was still in business upon his death. He will be missed by many because of his thoughtful and kind ways.

He married Karen Kay Rodgers on Jan. 31, 1960. Of this union was born a son, Vincent J. (Joshua) Nikkel on April 14, 1961. He later went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 9, 2011.

Leon is survived by his wife, Karen of the home, and by his two granddaughters and grandsons, (Jandi) and Ramon Chavez and their daughter, Amelia of Valley Center, KS. and (Taylor) and Clayton Crandall of Concordia, KS.; brothers and sisters, (Joanne) Klassen, Hesston, KS., (Adella) and James Harmon, Cheney, KS., Ted Jr. and Joan Nikkel, Newton, KS. (Helene) and Loren Funk, North Newton, KS., (Nadine) and Virgil Epp, Elbing, KS., Kermit and Saundra Nikkel, Canton, KS., (Rose Mary) and Ed Templin, Rose Hill, KS., (Arylis) and Richard Goertzen, Beatrice, Nebraska.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Vincent Nikkel.

Milferd Leland Schmidt, 92, of Canton, Kansas, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 at Pine Village in Moundridge. He was born Feb. 19, 1928 in Goessel, the son of Peter B. and Susie (Goertz) Schmidt.

He grew up with his three brothers, Peter Jr., Harold, and younger brother, John Henry, and two sisters, Edna and Emma on the parental farm in McPherson County.

Milferd graduated from Goessel High School with the class of 1946.

He was baptized and became a lifetime member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel.

Milferd served his 1-W service at Beatrice Hospital in Beatrice, Nebraska, and MCCVS at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine with other VSer’s. This service became a highlight of his life. After the service, Milferd returned to farming and became the second generation on the parental farm.

Milferd was united in marriage to Marilyn Flaming on May 1, 1953. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Loren (Sandy) Schmidt of Canton, their son, Dustin (Lacey) and their two children, Jackson and Elizabeth, and two daughters, Kari and Madison; daughter, Anne (Mark) Burch of Goessel, their children, Andrea Schmidt and her children, Santana and Summer, Dana (Forest) and her daughter, River, and Josh and Nate; son-in-law, Bruce Berry and children, Zachary (Kadey) and Jadeyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Berry; brothers, Pete Jr., Harold, Elmer and John Henry; and sisters, Edna Ensz and Emma Regier.

Private family services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel, with burial to take place prior to the service at the church cemetery. Abigail ‘Abby’ Lucille Davis, 57, passed away Feb. 10, 2021, at her home. She was born June 3, 1963, in Junction City, KS, to William Ernest and Mildred Lucille (Molar) Otto I.

Abby attended Stafford High School and was baptized in the Stafford Church of Christ. She worked for several years in the Housekeeping Department at Wesley Towers Retirement Community, Hutchinson. Abby was a homemaker who thoroughly loved her family, especially the grandchildren.

She and Ricky Davis were together for 39 years, and were married on March 31, 2000, in Hutchinson.

Abby is survived by her husband, Ricky Davis of Hutchinson; children, Amanda (Joshua Kelley) Davis of Hutchinson, Robin (Jeremy) Davis of Hutchinson, and Ricki (P.J.) Davis of Bucklin; siblings, Billy (Brenda) Otto of Hutchinson, Victor (Lora) Otto of Stafford, Valerie (Jeff) Sletto of Blue Eye, MO, James Otto of Kansas City, MO, and Andy (Kris) Otto of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Tamara, Ricky, Mary, Katelyn, Kimberly, William, Elena, Phillip, Lucille, and Adelaina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viva Jean Steierl, 87, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 10, 2021, at her home. She was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Anthony and Viva (Howard) Urban.

Viva graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952. She had many different jobs over the years, including First National Bank and her own cleaning service. Viva had many hobbies including square dancing, reading, card games, and crafts. She volunteered at Delos V. Smith Senior Center, where she enjoyed organizing and helping with the games. Viva attended Grace Episcopal Church.

On Nov. 22, 1952, she married John Steierl in Hutchinson. They shared 62 years together before he passed away on May 29, 2015.

Viva is survived by son, Larry Steierl (Susan), McPherson; daughter, Susan Starlin, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Benjamin Starlin (Brandi), Hutchinson, Ashley Manges (James), Hutchinson, Zachary Starlin, Hutchinson; and ten siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John Steierl.

Robert ‘Bob’ Nathan Kitch, 79, passed away Feb. 12, 2021, at Hutchinson Health and Rehab. He was born Dec. 7, 1941, in Hutchinson, to John Nathan and Volna L. (Reed) Kitch.

Bob was a 1960 graduate of Buhler High School. He was a machinist for Cessna Fluid Power and Mega Manufacturing. Bob was the owner/operator of Bob’s Tire Service, Hutchinson and the caretaker for Eaton Campground, retiring in 2016. He was a member of the Mid States Street Rods, Hutchinson.

On June 30, 1978, he married Velva Jean Chapman, in Newkirk, OK. They shared over 30 years of marriage prior to her death on Feb. 13, 2009.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Susan (Mark) Mattison, and Julie Kitston, both of Hutchinson; step-children, Kim Kienzle, Kevin (Susan) Kienzle, Keith (Sherri) Kienzle, Brent (Jacque) Cully, Brian (Sandy) Cully, all of Hutchinson; step-daughter-in-law, Annette Cully of Hutchinson; sisters, Mae Kerr of Virginia Beach, VA, and Shirley O’Toole of Weed, CA; 15 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

Barton Hospital, Hoisington.&nbsp; He was born December 17, 1939, in

Beverly Joan Lichter July 23, 1960, in Olmitz.&nbsp; She died March 20, 2016.

A long-time resident of Claflin and a veteran of the U.S. Army, 
Donald was an electronic technician for various industries, retiring 
from U.S.D. 354.&nbsp; He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic 
Church, Claflin, where he was involved in religious education and served
 as a Eucharistic Minister and lector.&nbsp; “The Voice of the Wildcats”, as 
Donald was known, enjoyed gardening, baking pies, cheesecake and bread. 
Civically, he had previously served as municipal judge for Claflin.&nbsp; 
Above all, his devotion was to his family, especially enjoying time with
 his children and grandchildren.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Zink and wife Melanie of 
Ellinwood, and Mark A. Zink of Salina; three daughters, Susan R. Zink of
 Lindsborg, Janet M. Klug and husband Kent of Overland Park, and Joni M.

Donald Vincent Zink

James (Jim) Leon Zook, 82, passed away Feb. 9, 2021. He was born to Aaron Leroy and Naomi Detwiler Zook on Aug. 22, 1938 in Kalona, Iowa.

Jim completed his education at Iowa Mennonite High School graduating in 1956. He attended Hesston College for one year where he met his future wife Janet Schrock. Jim had a successful career as a design draftsman for several companies in the Denver area. He has his name on three patens for parts he designed for kidney dialysis machines.

Jim enjoyed being active. Spending time outside, making items out of wood, working on his model train set display and putting puzzles together. He volunteered at Ten Thousand Villages, Et Cetera shop, and was a member of the Lion’s Club of Hesston. He enjoyed singing with the Kansas Mennonite Men’s choir, and the Schowalter Villa Men’s Choir. Jim and Janet also enjoyed traveling.

Jim and Janet were married on June 11, 1960 at Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church in Garden City, Missouri. They moved to Denver Colorado for Jim to serve in 1-W service. They stayed for 43 years. In 2005 they retired in Hesston, Kansas. He was a member of Hesston Mennonite Church.

Jim is survived by his wife, Janet, Hesston, KS; daughters, Jana (Mike) Miller of Indianapolis, IN and Joanne (Phil) Burckhart, of Buhler KS.&nbsp; Three grandchildren, John (Audrey) Miller of Fishers, IN; &nbsp;Marita (Jason) Illescas, of Indianapolis, IN; Luke Burckhart of Buhler, KS.

A sister Rozella (John) Lehman of Applecreek, OH and brothers Phil (Karen) Zook of Colorado Springs, CO and Les (Grace) Zook of Deep River, IA.&nbsp; Sisters-in-law Leta (Frank) Bontrager of Lakewood, CO, Ruth Zook of Mechanicsburg, PA, Janet A. Zook of Savannah, MO. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Marlin and Samuel Zook.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at Hesston Mennonite Church on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021 at 11 a.m.

He has his name on three patens for parts he designed for kidney dialysis machines.Jim enjoyed being active. Spending time outside, making items out of wood, working on his model train set display and putting puzzles together. He volunteered at Ten Thousand Villages, Et Cetera shop, and was a member of the Lion’s Club of Hesston. He enjoyed singing with the Kansas Mennonite Men’s choir, and the Schowalter Villa Men’s Choir. Jim and Janet also enjoyed traveling.Jim and Janet were married on June 11, 1960 at Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church in Garden City, Missouri. They moved to Denver Colorado for Jim to serve in 1-W service. They stayed for 43 years. In 2005 they retired in Hesston, Kansas. Patricia ‘Patty’ Lea Collins, 67, passed away Feb. 8, 2021, at her home. She was born Oct. 9, 1953, in Hutchinson, to Glenn Dewayne and Betty Lou (Davis) Kite.

Patty was a 1972 graduate of Nickerson High School. For over 23 years, she was the owner/operator of a day care provider business. Patty was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 23 years of service. She attended Temple Baptist Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Patty looked forward to being around horses and going fishing. Her greatest enjoyment in life was when she had the opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren or attend their activities. Patty thoroughly loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Patty is survived by her children, Tiffany (Christopher) Craig, Chris (Dani) Collins, and Brandy (Charles Williams) Collins, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Colten Tipton, Skyler Jones, Shayden Collins, and Maxton Collins; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Connie (Terry) House of South Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Terry Kite.

Rebecca Ann “Becky” Royse, 67, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 9, 2021, at her home. She was born Aug. 17, 1953, in Hutchinson, to William and Mary (Tarvin) Rea.

Becky graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1971, and went on to Hutchinson Community College. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Trimmell in Hutchinson. Becky belonged to the Altar Guild at Emanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a member.

On Jan. 29, 2000, she married Randy Allen Royse, in Hutchinson. They shared 21 years of marriage together.

Becky is survived by: husband, Randy Royse, Hutchinson; daughter, Reagan Biggs (Nick), Goddard; son, Brent Parrish (Denise), Newton; stepsons, Scott and Jeremy Royse, both of Salina; sister, Melia Stoll (Roger), Liberal; brother, Bob Rea (Sue),&nbsp; Springdale, Arkansas; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sherry Lynn.

Sharen R. Morain, 77, of Haven, Kansas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1943 in Burrton, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond James and Georganna (Baker) Riggins.

She graduated from Burrton High School with the class of 1961.

Sharen was a long-time resident of Liberal, Kansas, where she worked several jobs as a hairdresser, travel agent and jewelry store clerk.

She was united in marriage to James Morain on August 26, 1987 in Liberal.&nbsp; He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her children, Chris (Mary) McElwain of Halstead and Michelle (Scott) Jackson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Sharen was preceded in death by her parents.

Larry C. Miller, 79, of Newton, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021. He was born October 17, 1941 in Harper, Kansas, the son of Norman and Ruth (Stutzman) Miller.

He was a graduate of Attica High School and Hesston College.

Larry was a lifelong resident of Crystal Springs. He was a farmer and mechanic, working alongside his father at Miller Machine Shop, developing the same skills and abilities as his father. Larry was sensitive, intelligent, a good worker, creative and had good mechanical aptitude. They both had the ability to create, build, or modify machines to perform certain jobs/tasks better and more efficiently. He eventually took ownership of the shop and changed the name to Crystal Springs Machine Shop.

Our family is grateful for Larry’s friends and neighbors in the Crystal Springs community who looked out for him and alerted us when Larry began having difficulties with dementia.

Larry is survived by his sister, Margaret (Harold) Winsinger of Hesston; brother, Keith (Lois) Miller of Edwardsburg, Michigan; niece, Brenda (Bruce) Eitzen of Hesston; nephews, Randy (Christy) Winsinger of Dunnellon, Florida, Bradden (Kristen) Miller of Anacortes, Washington, and David (Lindsay) Miller of Granger, Indiana.

Chester L. Koehn, 103, was born in rural Moundridge on Jan. 20, 1918 to David and Susie (Boese) Koehn. He passed away peacefully at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas on Feb. 7, 2021.&nbsp;

 He served in the army in World War II, from Dec. 8, 1942 until being honorably discharged on Dec. 4, 1945. For almost 55 years, he was a member of American Legion Post #340 of Moundridge.&nbsp;

Prior to his service, he met Leola R. Wedel. Their relationship grew, but was interrupted by his service. They continued to correspond during his absence, and upon his return, they married on June 30, 1946 at Emmanuel Mennonite Church. They enjoyed over 71 years together, until she passed away on May 6, 2018. His remaining years alone were filled with the pain of the loss of her.

He is survived by a son Lyle Koehn and wife Joyce (Lutz) of Wichita; three granddaughters, Julie Sinak (Matthew) of St. Louis, MO., Victoria Cornitius (Matthew), of Wright, KS, and Rebecca Koehn of Kansas City, KS; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Wiggers of Moundridge; sister-in-law, Norma (Eck) Koehn of Moundridge; brother-in-law, Gerald (Joyce) Wedel of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven and wife Bette (Cripe); five brothers, Martin (Mike), Lewis, Herman, Robert and Leonard; four sisters, Laura (Koehn) Koehn, Selma R. Koehn, Amanda A. Koehn and Maizie Mae Koehn.

After several years at Emmanuel, Chester and Leola became and remained active members of West Zion Mennonite Church until their passing.&nbsp;

After the army, Chester worked for the Goering Hardware Implement until his retirement in the 1980s. After his retirement, he spent his time building woodworking projects, including six Grandmother Clocks, many metal jigs, templates and several miniature steam engines.&nbsp;

Beverly graduated from Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College. She was a lifelong resident of Hutchinson until 16 months ago when she lived with her daughter and family in Houston, Texas.&nbsp; She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, active in the United Methodist Women, and served on various church committees and organizations.&nbsp; In addition, Beverly volunteered at the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, Fair Price Clothing, and Sew ‘N Sews.&nbsp; She was named Reno County’s “Hometown Hero” in 2014.&nbsp; Beverly worked for Dillons, Collingwood Grain, and the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp; Her most cherished job was a stay-at-home mother for many years.

Beverly married Richard (Dick) Caywood in 1962, and they had three children: Richard (Rick), Timothy (Tim), and Julie. In 1981, she married Thornton (Todd) White, who had four adult children: Debbie, Ty, Marsha, and Hoby.

Beverly is survived by: children, Rick (Rondi) Caywood, Tim (Jenny) Caywood, all of Hutchinson, Julie (Wes) Cooper of Tomball, TX, Debbie (Mike) Zarnowski, and &nbsp;Marsha (Jim) Barnes, both of Hutchinson; brother, Robert Culver of Hutchinson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: Todd, after sharing 39 years of marriage; her parents; a sister, Mary Beth (Friesen) Simpson; and sons, Hoby White and Ty White.&nbsp;

Dr. Dean Carter, 74, died Feb. 6, 2021, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Cresco, IA, to Lawrence and Adelaide (Lickteig) Carter.

He moved to Hutchinson in 1975 and opened Carter Podiatry Center in South Hutchinson, until his retirement. Dr. Carter was involved in the Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps, and enjoyed golfing and attending high school sporting events. He was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, and was faithful in reciting the rosary daily.

Dr. Carter is survived by two sisters; one sister-in-law; four nieces; one nephew; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Parish Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, 2631 Independence Road, Hutchinson, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. &nbsp;Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin, MN.&nbsp;

Sylvia Sue Morley, 80, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 6, 2021, at her home. She was born Dec. 10, 1940, in her home in rural Chase County, to Allen and Alice (McCracken) Bond.

Sylvia graduated from Matfield Green High School and Friends Bible College. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Education from Emporia State University. Sylvia’s teaching career spanned 43 years as she taught English at the middle school, high school, and college levels at Lyons, Valley Center, Belleville, Dighton, Utica, Chase County, and Barclay College.

She was an avid reader and quilter, and enjoyed needlework of all kinds. Sylvia was a member of Hutchinson Friends Church and was very involved in Friends Women and One Mission Society. She was a church pianist for many years and her ultimate piano experience was accompanying the Barclay College Choir one semester.

Sylvia’s biggest accomplishment was her daughter, Nancy. She loved being a part of her life by attending all of her activities and sporting events. Once Sylvia’s grandchildren came along, that just added another delight to her life.

Sylvia married Loren D. Morley in 1977. He died in 1990.

She is survived by daughter, Nancy Whiteman and husband Mark of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Rebecca, Austin, Nicholas, Lukas Whiteman; and 12 first cousins.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Bond; stepsister, Vonna Fine; and stepbrother, Virgil Scott.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Hutchinson Friends Church, 1200 E 14th&nbsp;Ave. Burial will be 3 p.m. in Homestead Cemetery, Cedar Point. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Ruby Jean Oldehoeft, 88, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 6, 2021, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson. She was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Assaria, to Martin and Anna (Pearson) Olson.

Ruby graduated from Assaria High School in 1950. She was a homemaker and also worked for JC Penney’s in Emporia. Ruby loved to go fishing with her husband and spend time with her grandchildren. Her loss will be deeply felt by all that knew her. Ruby was kind to everyone she met and special to her caretakers, as well as her family.&nbsp; She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

On Nov. 29, 1953, Ruby married Wilfred Walter Oldehoeft in Assaria. They shared nearly 64 years together before he passed away on Nov. 3, 2018.

She is survived by daughter, Kris Crainer, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Caleb Crainer, Los Angeles, California, Holly Binns (Brad), Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Merrick Binns, Hutchinson; brothers, Arthur Olson, Rancho Cucamunga, California, John (Mary) Olson, Salina; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilfred Oldehoeft; sisters, Mary Anne Daily, Bette Burdette; and brothers, Carl and Raymond Olson.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
