Roger W. Schott, 72, died at The Oasis of Golfcrest, Houston, TX, on March 1, 2022.&nbsp; He was born in Hutchinson, KS, on August 8, 1949, to Gerhon Paul Schott and Nola Lavina (Frye) Schott.

Roger attended school in Hutchinson, KS, and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1967.&nbsp; Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served from 1967 to 1971.&nbsp; After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Wichita, KS, to go to college on the GI Bill.&nbsp; Roger met Marilyn Beatrice Carpenter and they were married on August 31, 1974.&nbsp; Shortly after they moved to Kansas City, MO, he began working as a computer programmer for Jackson County Court in Kansas City, MO.&nbsp; Roger then worked as a programmer for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline, and was transferred to Houston, TX, in 1988.&nbsp; Within two years, Duke Energy bought out Panhandle Eastern Pipeline and he worked for them until he was laid off, but Roger decided to remain in Houston and had lived there ever since.&nbsp; He married Adela Gallardo in 1992.&nbsp; Roger was also a substitute teacher in the Cypress-Cyfair School District.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his sister, Ramona (Ralph) Shepherd of Hutchinson, KS; nephews, Robert ‘Robbie’ (Sarah) Shepherd of Hutchinson, KS, and Ryan Shepherd of Wichita, KS; great-niece, Rylie Paige Shepherd of Derby, KS; Suzanne Schott-McElheney of Dallas, TX; ex-wife, Adela Schott of Houston, TX; and stepchildren, Noemi (Gene) Pena of Wellington, TX, Bryan (Jessica) Moreno of San Diego, CA, and Sandy Jasso of Houston, TX.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Dave Childers officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park.&nbsp; Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.&nbsp; Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Keith’s life began on November 13, 1931, in McPherson, KS. He was the son of Ivan and Lydia (Chapin) Allison. Keith served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War years of 1953 – 1955 when he was released from the service to begin studying at McPherson College. 

Keith earned a degree in music at McPherson College, his Masters’ Degree at Wichita State, attended seminary in Dubuque Iowa, and his Doctorate of Theology from the University of Cleveland. Keith married the love of his life, Claudia Jo Stump on August 20, 1955, in Perryton, TX. 

He taught music in his earliest career at Halstead and later at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita. Keith was called to serve as a pastor in the Presbyterian Church after his teaching experience. He pastored the Presbyterian Church’s in McKinney, TX, Cushing, OK, Neosho, MO, El Paso, Tx and finally years&nbsp; as an&nbsp; interim pastor in Halstead, Marion, and Jetmore. Keith loved to travel with his family, especially to Estes Park, CO. 

He was an avid gardener and exceptional woodworker. Keith was also a talented piano player and a very skilled piano tuner, a skill he acquired early on in his family life and a skill he continued to use into his retirement. 

He is survived by his children Kendall (Patty) Allison of McPherson, and Jackie ( Terry) Osborne of Neosho, MO; grandchildren Carlin Turner, Austin Spencer, Derrick Allison, Nick (Abby) Osborne, Jeremy (Caitlin) Osborne, Kendra (Richard) Smith, Brandon (Emily) Allison, Matt (Kaleigh) Allison, Josh (Britney) Allison, Rachel Allison and Heather (Kollin) Retter; great grandchildren Maicy, Oliver, Owen, Oliver S., Tilly, Addilyn, Avery, Gavin , Austyn, Sadie, Devin and Emeryson and several nieces and nephews including one FN.&nbsp; Keith passed away at his home with his children at his side on the evening of Thursday March 3, 2022. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Claudia, son Douglas, brother Vincent Allison and sister Ann Schubert. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday March 8th&nbsp;from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home. Keith’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 9th&nbsp;at 11 a.m. at the Marion Presbyterian Church led by Pastor Jeremiah Lange.

Leola Aletha Osner, 89, passed away on March 2, 2022 at Wheatlands Health Care Center in Kingman, Kansas.

Leola was born March 23, 1932 at Belmont, Kansas, the daughter of Oliver and Aletha Blumanhourst. She attended Kingman Schools. Leola married Howard Osner on July 20, 1951, in Kingman. He preceded her in death in an accidental work-related accident on October 10, 1980. She was a home-maker, Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have many great memories of their grandmother attending their events and taking time to play with them whenever they came over to her house.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Cecelia’s Daughter of Isabel, St. Ann’s Altar Society, lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary and lifetime member in the National VFW Auxiliary. &nbsp;Leola was a very active Busy Bee 4-H leader and she is dearly remembered by many for her enthusiasm and dedication to 4-H.

Survivors are sons: Delbert (Vicky) of Kingman, Dallas (Deb) of Mulvane, and Kevin (Connie) of Dresher, Pennsylvania, daughters: LaReta (Bill) Hageman of Spivey, Karlene (Kenny) Roberts of Pratt, Sondra Oler of Wichita, and Linda (Dave) Jacobs of Fort Collins, Colorado, sisters-in-laws: Mary Blumanhourst, Grace Graber, and Mary Lou Osner. She has 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren: Tim Osner, Nikki Osner (Harley and Riley), Steve and Dawn Hageman (Brady and Makayla), Sherri and Andy Ahlberg (Dreyvn, Staley and Braelyn), Cindy and Ryan Schmitz (Alayna and Lydia), Karly and Curtis Little (Addison, Harper, Luna and Nora), Kelsy and Caleb Gillig, Craig and An Henning (Aemon and Arden), Brock and Naomi Oler (Kylie and Skye), Trey Oler, Jessica Osner, Patrick Osner, Christal Lloyd, Evan Osner, Michael and Amanda Jacobs, and Samantha and Chris Yellow Boy (Alexandria and Scarlett). She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, LaVeta, her parents, Oliver and Aletha Blumanhourst and her brothers, Wayne and Oliver Jr. Blumanhourst.

Roger Dwight Erteld, 73, of Buhler, died March 2, 2022, at his home. He was born July 30, 1948, in Des Moines, IA, to Dwight D. and Vera C. (Miller) Erteld.

Roger graduated from Iowa Mennonite School in 1966, attended Calvary Bible College, and graduated from Hesston College in 1968. He owned his own business, Roger Erteld Construction, for 47 years. Roger was a devoted follower of Jesus with an insatiable desire to study God’s Word. He was very active in Young at Heart Ministries.

On June 18, 1968, Roger married Kathleen “Kathy” Yoder, in Parnell, IA.&nbsp; She survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Sharon Entz (Leland) of Whitewater, Wendy Bost (Kevin) of Overland Park; and grandchildren, Becca Mellema (Matt), David Entz, and Leah Entz.

A private family burial will be held in Buhler cemetery. A celebration of Roger’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th&nbsp;Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s website.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022, at the church.

Roger Dwight Erteld  |1948-2022| 

Lois Bartel, 84, died peacefully on February 26, 2022, with family at her side, after living at Kidron Bethel in North Newton, since 2007. &nbsp;Lois Agatha Franz was born to Julius A and Agatha Dyck Franz December 26, 1937.&nbsp; She joined two brothers and four sisters.

Lois embraced her Mennonite heritage.&nbsp; She was privileged to have her maternal grandparents from Marienburg, West Prussia, live with the family until she was five.

As a teen she was baptized and became a member of Menno Mennonite Church in Ritzville, Washington.&nbsp; Lois graduated from Lind High School in 1955 and headed 1800 miles east to Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas.&nbsp; She met Gladwin Bartel at a Bethel College Mennonite Church social in which students were grouped according to their birth month.&nbsp; She and Gladwin were married in 1957 and then spent two years in Mennonite Central Committee Voluntary Service at Boys’ Village in Smithville, Ohio, as an alternative to military service.&nbsp; She found her stride as a teacher on the Village grounds for boys who needed guidance because of delinquency.

After serving in Ohio, they returned to Bethel College where Lois earned degrees in Elementary Education and Social Sciences.&nbsp; After graduation she taught two years in Halstead.&nbsp; Lois and Gladwin’s first son, Baron Craig, was born in Newton in 1962.&nbsp; They moved to Wisconsin for graduate studies, where their second son, Kelvin Franz, was born in 1964.&nbsp; The family of four moved to Spokane and then Pullman, Washington, where she earned an MA in Sociology at Washington State University.&nbsp; The family then moved to La Junta, Colorado, in 1970.&nbsp; Lois taught English and Social Studies for twenty-two years in the La Junta Junior High and Middle Schools.&nbsp; As a family they enjoyed camping and visiting the farm where Lois grew up.

Lois walked with God throughout her life, striving to fulfill Christ’s teaching – taught by her parents – that “to have is to owe,” from Luke 12:48.&nbsp; She served on the Mennonite Central Committee Central States Board, was active in Emmanuel Mennonite Church, provided publicity for the Colorado MCC sale, volunteered at the Crossroads thrift and Ten Thousand Villages store, was a long-time member of the American Association of University Women, and served on the Mennonite church’s publishing committee.

The work of the wider church was important to her, although health issues kept her from volunteering for more causes.&nbsp; In addition to writing a book and numerous articles for church publications, she took over publishing the quarterly Franz Family Focus which reflected the closeness of her large extended family. &nbsp;After retirement she and Gladwin took numerous bus tours in the US and Canada.&nbsp; Touring Alaska with church friends was a highlight of their travels.

Grandparenting was a joy of her life.&nbsp; Each son gave them two!&nbsp; Gladwin and Lois moved to Kansas in 2007 to be close to their sons and families and joined the Shalom Mennonite Church community in Newton.&nbsp; It gave her great joy to be able to contribute to worthy causes, including the St. Matthews Payee Program, youth programming, MCC, and activities of Mennonite Church USA.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Gladwin (October 14, 2018), parents Julius and Agatha Franz; siblings Leonard, Henry (Dorothy), Marie (Elmer Ewert), Viola (Ralph Boese), Clara (Walt Reimer) and Judy (Craig Dorsing).&nbsp; Survivors include two sons Barry and his wife Brenda of Golden, Colorado, and Kelvin and his wife Lisa of Newton; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren — Jordan, his wife Kaitlin and son Mason of Hillsboro, Oregon; Leah Schwarz, her husband Gregory and daughter Nora and son Milo of Lenexa; Shaye of McPherson; Aubrey of Kansas City; sister Lucille (Les Harms) of Leavenworth, Washington; brother-in-law Craig Dorsing of Moses Lake, Washington, sixteen Franz nieces and nephews, and their offspring; one sister-in-law Rosalie Neufeld, her husband Robert, and two nephews, all of North Newton.

A memorial service will be held at Shalom Mennonite Church, Newton, when family from four states are able to gather.&nbsp;

Lois Bartel, 84, died peacefully on February 26, 2022, with family at her side, after living at Kidron Bethel in North Newton, since 2007. &nbsp;Lois Agatha Franz was born to Julius A and Agatha Dyck Franz December 26, 1937.&nbsp; She joined two brothers and four sisters.Lois embraced her Mennonite heritage.&nbsp; She was privileged to have her maternal grandparents from Marienburg, West Prussia, live with the family until she was five.As a teen she was baptized and became a member of Menno Mennonite Church in Ritzville, Washington.&nbsp; Lois graduated from Lind High School in 1955 and headed 1800 miles east to Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas.&nbsp; She met Gladwin Bartel at a Bethel College Mennonite Church social in which students were grouped according to their birth month.&nbsp; She and Gladwin were married in 1957 and then spent two years in Mennonite Central Committee Voluntary Service at Boys’ Village in Smithville, Ohio, as an alternative to military service.&nbsp; She found her stride as a teacher on the Village grounds for boys who needed guidance because of delinquency.After serving in Ohio, they returned to Bethel College where Lois earned degrees in Elementary Education and Social Sciences.&nbsp; After graduation she taught two years in Halstead.&nbsp; Lois and Gladwin’s first son, Baron Craig, was born in Newton in 1962.&nbsp; They moved to Wisconsin for graduate studies, where their second son, Kelvin Franz, was born in 1964.&nbsp; The family of four moved to Spokane and then Pullman, Washington, where she earned an MA in Sociology at Washington State University.&nbsp; The family then moved to La Junta, Colorado, in 1970.&nbsp; Lois taught English and Social Studies for twenty-two years in the La Junta Junior High and Middle Schools.&nbsp; As a family they enjoyed camping and visiting the farm where Lois grew up.Lois walked with God throughout her life, striving to fulfill Christ’s teaching – taught by her parents – that “to have is to owe,” from Luke 12:48.&nbsp; She served on the Mennonite Central Committee Central States Board, was active in Emmanuel Mennonite Church, provided publicity for the Colorado MCC sale, volunteered at the Crossroads thrift and Ten Thousand Villages store, was a long-time member of the American Association of University Women, and served on the Mennonite church’s publishing committee.The work of the wider church was important to her, although health issues kept her from volunteering for more causes.&nbsp; In addition to writing a book and numerous articles for church publications, she took over publishing the quarterly Franz Family Focus which reflected the closeness of her large extended family. &nbsp;After retirement she and Gladwin took numerous bus tours in the US and Canada.&nbsp; Touring Alaska with church friends was a highlight of their travels.Grandparenting was a joy of her life.&nbsp; Each son gave them two!&nbsp; Gladwin and Lois moved to Kansas in 2007 to be close to their sons and families and joined the Shalom Mennonite Church community in Newton.&nbsp; It gave her great joy to be able to contribute to worthy causes, including the St. Matthews Payee Program, youth programming, MCC, and activities of Mennonite Church USA.Lois was preceded in death by her husband Gladwin (October 14, 2018), parents Julius and Agatha Franz; siblings Leonard, Henry (Dorothy), Marie (Elmer Ewert), Viola (Ralph Boese), Clara (Walt Reimer) and Judy (Craig Dorsing).&nbsp; Survivors include two sons Barry and his wife Brenda of Golden, Colorado, and Kelvin and his wife Lisa of Newton; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren — Jordan, his wife Kaitlin and son Mason of Hillsboro, Oregon; Leah Schwarz, her husband Gregory and daughter Nora and son Milo of Lenexa; Shaye of McPherson; Aubrey of Kansas City; sister Lucille (Les Harms) of Leavenworth, Washington; brother-in-law Craig Dorsing of Moses Lake, Washington, sixteen Franz nieces and nephews, and their offspring; one sister-in-law Rosalie Neufeld, her husband Robert, and two nephews, all of North Newton.A memorial service will be held at Shalom Mennonite Church, Newton, when family from four states are able to gather.&nbsp;

Linda Marie Ediger, 80, of McPherson, passed away at 12:03 p.m., Monday, February 28th, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Sedgwick County. Linda was born in Hutchinson, on March 23, 1941, a daughter of the late Pearl Fern Dreibelbis and Lynn W. Gisel. Linda attended Buhler grade schools and graduated from Buhler High School, Buhler, in 1959. Linda Marie Gisel was united in marriage to LaVon Keith Ediger on July 29, 1960 at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church Inman.&nbsp; The young couple established their first home together in North Newton, where LaVon attended Bethel College and Linda Hesston Manufacturing. The couple moved to Aurora, Colorado for two years where LaVon provided alternative service at Denver General Hospital and Linda was an assistant apartment manager.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two sons at this time, Alan and Ron.&nbsp; The family then moved to Brookville, for two years, where LaVon was a school teacher/coach and Linda raised the boys.&nbsp; The family then moved to Clay Center, for six years where LaVon was a teacher/coach and where their daughter Lisa was born.&nbsp; The family then moved to Topeka, where LaVon was a department manager of a lumber company.&nbsp; In 1974 the family moved to McPherson and started Stewart - Ediger Construction where Linda served as the secretary. Linda was a member of First Mennonite Church of McPherson, where she served in various capacities for many years. Linda was a homemaker and took great pride in providing support for her family in this manner. Linda greatly enjoyed her family, grandkids, music, crafts of all kinds, sewing, working in her flower garden, keeping family photo albums and volunteering for many things that provided support for others.&nbsp; She was a member of EHU-FCE and participated in bowling leagues for many years. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 60 years, LaVon Ediger, of McPherson; her children, Alan Ediger (Kaylene), of Goshen, Indiana, Ron Ediger (Lori), of McPherson, and Lisa Talcott (Nathan), of Halstead; her siblings, Dick Gisel (Jan), of Hutchinson, Jean Archer (Mike), of South Lake, Texas, Dennis Gisel, (Dee), of Lawrence; her four grandchildren, Tawny King, Lucas Ediger, Emily Ediger, and Ellea Ediger; and step grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Weston Ediger; and a sister; Betty Malone and her husband Bud. Cecilia Ann Metheny, 89, of McPherson, passed away at 10:35 a.m., Tuesday, March 1st, while in the company of family, at her residence. Cecilia was born in rural Logan, on March 15, 1932, a daughter of Rosa Elizabeth (Glennmeier) and Grover Cleveland Edgett. Cecilia attended the District # 95 country school in Edmond, Kansas and graduated from Edmond High School, Edmond, Kansas in 1950. Cecilia was united in marriage to Morris Elry Metheny on June 3, 1950 at Norton, Kansas. They established their first home together on a farm just North of Edmond. Through the years they lived in Lenora, Hays, back to Lenora, Hooker, Oklahoma, Sublette, Ellis, Goodland, Bazine, and Ness City before coming to McPherson. Cecilia was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She worked as, a clerk for a dime store and a nurses aide for the Ness County Hospital and in McPherson she worked as a clerk for Montgomery Wards, the Cable office, and for the Treasure Chest Pawn Shop, all of McPherson. She also worked as a nurses aide for the Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson, Kansas She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 Ladies Auxiliary and on a local bowling team. Cecilia enjoyed her family, friends, working in her flower garden, and bowling was one of her passions. She treated everyone as an equal and made everyone feel that they were important to her. She was Moma bear to all her kids, and was grandma to all her grandchildren and their friends. She never had a baby that didn't love her. She is survived by her children, Tim Metheny, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Son Jim Metheny and wife Peg, of McPherson, Rodney Metheny and wife Toni, of North Freedom, Wisconsin, Terry Metheny and wife Judi, of Milton, Washington, Vicki Wing and husband Clarence, of McPherson; and Camine Wieden and husband Mark, of Marquette, Kansas; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Metheny; her parents; her brothers, Joseph, Leonard, Floyd, Henry, Louis, Norman Edgett; her sister, Alberta Metheny;and a great grandson, Issiah Malcom Metheny. Nolan Gene Howell, 80, of McPherson, passed away at 9:56 p.m., Tuesday, March 1st, 2022 suddenly, at his home. Nolan was born in rural Larned, Kansas on February 16, 1942, a son of the late Mildred M. (Merkel) and Weldon Gene Howell. Nolan attended the Zook Consolidated School, Zook, and graduated from St. John High School, St. John. He then attended McPherson College where he met JoAnn Reed and also received a Bachelors Degree in History and Political Science. Nolan Gene Howell was united in marriage to JoAnn Reed on June 13, 1964 at the First Baptist Church, McPherson. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson while finishing his education at McPherson College. In 1965 the couple moved to Garden City, for 10 years and they were blessed with the birth of a son, Kent Nolan and then adopted a daughter Angela. In 1975 the family moved to McPherson for 5 years, then moved to Great-Bend, for 25 years prior to moving back to McPherson after retirement.. He was a member of Church of the Brethren McPherson, Kansas, but recently attended the First Presbyterian Church. Through the years Nolan worked for several newspapers in Western and Central Kansas serving as Editor of the McPherson Sentinel in the late 1970's. He then worked for St. Francis Children's Ministry of Salina, Kansas and then as a para for Canton - Galva School System from which he retired. Nolan was a member of numerous Civic and Professional organizations. He enjoyed all kinds of reading but particularly in Kansas history, he was a Enthusiast of the automobile and a collector of miniature cars and books. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years JoAnn Howell, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Kent Nolan Howell, of Topeka, Kansas and Angela Howell, of Inman, Kansas; his siblings, Veneta Ediger and husband Paul, of McPherson, Kansas, Norman Howell and wife Mei-Feng, of Fremont, California, and Janice Wokaty and husband Terry, of Jacksonville, Arkansas; other relatives and a host of friends. Max LaVerne Empson, age 83, of Minneapolis, passed away on Friday, February, 25, 2022 at the Minneapolis Health and Rehabilitation Center.&nbsp; He was born on June 16, 1938, to Grover and Irene Empson.

Max attended a small country grade school and graduated M.R.H.S. in 1956.&nbsp; He excelled in football and track.&nbsp; Max tied for first place in the high jump at the state finals.&nbsp; After graduation, he attended Garden City College on a football scholarship.&nbsp; Max was enlisted in the National Guard for 6 years after college.&nbsp; He raised cattle on the family farmstead, had custom grain harvesting and hay baling businesses.&nbsp; He also managed the Javco station.&nbsp; Later years, he received a Certificate in Hazmat Safety from Western Nebraska Community College and was certified in CPR.&nbsp; He enjoyed going to the Concordia sale barn, machinery auctions and meals at the Trail rider's Cafe that was owned and operated by the Empson family.

He is survived by daughter Lisa Nixon ( Jim) of Leawood, son Brian Empson of Olathe, daughter Darcy Ruhl ( Brian) of Manhattan, Darlene Empson of Manhattan, mother of his three children and Beverly Martin of Green, longtime companion, caregiver and friend, sister Kathleen Wolfe of Salina and brother Randy Empson ( Cheryl) of Payette, Idaho, grandchildren Heather Empson of Topeka, Shannon Nixon of Shawnee, Madilyn and Olivia Ruhl of Manhattan, and great grandchildren Brody and Chloie of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his brother Bilby Empson and parents Grover and Irene Empson.

A graveside service and luncheon will be in the spring.

Norman Eugene “Gene” Griffin, 78, of Hutchinson, died February 28, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born December 19, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Norman and Irene (Abbott) Griffin.

Gene graduated from Partridge High School in 1963. He worked for Cessna for 42 years, as a machinist and supervisor. Gene belonged to the Hutchinson Jaycee’s, serving a term as president. He also served as president of the Hutchinson Collectors Car Club, was a member of Cessna Employee’s Club, Sons of the American Legion, and the Sunflower Rambler’s Campers Club. He also owned and operated the Hoof and Horn Concessions at the Kansas State Fair with wife Elaine for 31 years. He was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

On May 9, 1981, Gene married Ruth Elaine Mead in Hutchinson. They shared 40 years together.

He is survived by: wife, Elaine Griffin of Hutchinson; sons, Steve Griffin (Phyllis)of Bluffton, Indiana, Bob Griffin (Tara) of Hutchinson, Michael Griffin (Valerie) of South Hutchinson; daughters, Jenna Klein of Kansas City, Missouri, Bonna Reusser of Hutchinson, Keri Martens (Doug) of Topeka; sister, Barb Trimm of Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and many good friends.

Funeral service will be 10:00am Friday, March 4, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Pastor Henry Blickhahn officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary or 6:00pm to 8:00 pm with the family present at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Rosemary “Rusty” Dirksen entered her eternal life in Christ on Monday, February 28, 2022, passing away peacefully in her home in Goessel. Rusty was born April 27, 1938 in in Sparta, Illinois to John Wesley and Flossie Irene (Lodge) Brown. After graduating from Glendale High School (California) in 1954, she completed airline school and was employed as a teletype operator for TWA in Kansas City. There she met Robert R. Dirksen, and they were united in marriage on May 20, 1958.

Following time in Kansas City and Salina, she moved with the family to St. Charles County, Missouri, where she spent the rest of her married life. Rusty was a stay-at-home mom until 1978, when she returned to the work force. She worked as a teletype operator and office manager until her retirement. Throughout these years she was active in her church, school activities, Athenian Club, and neighborhood events. She also enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. Robert died in 1987, and in 2003, Rusty moved to Goessel, where she remained active with family and church.

Rusty is survived by her son Ron (Sandy) Dirksen (Foley, Missouri); daughter Debra (Keven) Hiebert (Goessel); granddaughter Lauren Hiebert (Emporia); sister Ann Ellison (Freeburg, Illinois); brother John (Ruby) Brown (Steeleville, Illinois); and numerous nieces and nephews in Illinois and Kansas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; brother Jim Brown; and sister Joy Dahlem.

Visitation will be Friday, March 4, from 5:00-7:00 at Miller-Ott Home in Goessel, with family present. Stephen Dale Rhorer, 79, died February 14th, 2022, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born July 24th, 1942, in Hutchinson, to George Rhorer and Violet Hensley Rhorer. A true miracle baby, Steve was born prematurely at barely over two pounds and was frequently reminded by just how lucky he was to have survived.

Steve graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1960. He was a spectacular storyteller and often shared tales from his childhood in Hutchinson. He cherished times visiting with his father at the barbershop, watching his mother work at the dairy, and often recollected the paper route he worked which earned him enough spending money for sodas, candy and vinyl records. It was on this paper route that he first heard blues music, an event that would forever transform Steve into a lifelong blues fanatic. Throughout his life, Steve attended many concerts and festivals celebrating the blues, including a new-to-the-scene James Brown at the Apollo Theatre in New York and Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf in Chicago. He was also an avid music collector.

As a youth, Steve was involved in the Boy Scouts and would go on to become an Eagle Scout. As a young man, Steve attended Hutchinson Community College before joining the Air Force, and finally went on to finish a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Kansas. He was studious and achieved high marks from his professors, taking his education seriously. Steve served in the Air Force from 1962 to 1966, serving in Germany as well as being stationed in Mississippi. When he could get off base, Steve fueled his love of blues music by attending concerts, visiting record stores and absorbing as much southern culture as possible. After his service and graduating from college, Steve went on to become a pharmacist and worked in the profession until retirement. He worked as the head pharmacist at Coberly’s Drug Store for decades and would go above and beyond to meet the needs of his clients.

On October 10th, 1970, he married Barbara Kirkbride in Hutchinson, after falling in love on a blind date. Before the date, Barbara’s friend described Steve as “big, hairy and kind of different”, but despite the unflattering introduction, it was always apparent the two were a perfect pair. The real highlights of Steve’s life included the birth of his children and grandchildren. The family enjoyed many vacations, and not a day passed without love and laughter in the home. Barbara and Steve shared almost 51 years of marriage, and it’s fitting that he left this world to be reunited with her on Valentine’s Day.

Steve was quirky and humorous, and he was sure to open his heart to those he loved. He worked tirelessly without complaint, providing his family with unending love and support. He absolutely lit up around his grandchildren, soaking in the joys of being witness to their experiences.

There are countless ways that Steve will be missed, but we hope you’ll celebrate his life by finding joy in the simple pleasures: a quite walk finding forgotten treasures, telling stories, and of course listening to music that moves your soul.

Steve is survived by his son, Kirk Rhorer (Patti Beedles) of Lawrence; daughter, Stephanie Rhorer (Chad King) of Hutchinson; sister, Kris Peel of Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Patience Westby, Jayde Anderson, and Isla Beedles-Rhorer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Violet Rhorer; and sister, Wanda Morton.

Kerri Lynn Danyluk, 62, of Sterling, passed away February 28, 2022, at her home. She was born March 22, 1959, in Yuma, Colorado, the daughter of Lee and Janet Danyluk. 

Kerri has resided in Sterling for the past fourteen years, formerly of Lyons, Anchorage, Alaska, and Ft. Collins, Colorado from 1978-1998. She graduated from Lyons High School, Lyons, with the class of 1977. Kerri attended Wichita State University on a golf scholarship and later attended Colorado State University. She worked as a pharmacist technician in Ft. Collins, Colorado and Anchorage, Alaska. Kerri was a lab technician at Jacam of Lyons and was a bookkeeper for Rice County Aerial Sprayers of Lyons. She loved playing golf, softball and enjoyed gardening. 

Kerri is survived by her significant other and best friend, Terry Barker of Sterling; daughter, Danielle Sauer of Westminster, CO, and her children, Analiese and Aislynn; brother, Kelly Danyluk and wife Yvonne of Hutchinson; sister, Kate Danyluk and husband John Larsen of Anchorage, AK; aunt, Sue Rierson of Hesston; and nephews, Parker Danyluk of Manhattan; and Pryce Danyluk of Hutchinson; Elliott Larsen and wife Justine of Anchorage, AK, and Avery Larsen and wife Hilary of Anchorage, AK. Richard ‘Dick’ Dale Sims, 92, passed away March 1, 2022, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born July 7, 1929, near Abbyville, to Andrew Johnson and Delphia Elizabeth (Lantz) Sims.

Dick was a 1946 graduate of Abbyville High School.&nbsp; He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.&nbsp; Dick worked at Cessna (Eaton Corporation) as a Production Control Manager, retiring with over 42 years of service.&nbsp;

After retirement, he and his wife, Karen, enjoyed traveling in their RV.&nbsp; Dick liked to fish and farm, but the activities that brought him the greatest joy were when he was spending time with his family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was a member of the South Hutchinson Lions Club, the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Hutchinson, Good Sams Camping Club, and the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

On February 14, 1959, Dick married Karen Kae Marsh, in Abbyville.&nbsp; They shared over 63 years of marriage.

He is survived by: his wife, Karen Sims of South Hutchinson; children, Denise Hulse of South Hutchinson, Robin (Tim) Yates of Hutchinson, and Kristian (Trisha) Sims of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Amanda Hoschouer, Jessica Yagel, Brian Sims, Jr., Brandi Sims, Joseph Yates, Jacob Yates, Jeremy Yates, Jon Yates, Madison Sims, and Kolton Sims; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Skiles and Audrey Seaton; and brothers, Andrew J. (Mollie) Sims, Jr., Jerry (Pat) Sims, and Steve (Carol) Sims.

Dick was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; son, Brian Sims; sister, Helen Rose; and brother, Gordon Sims.

Donovan married Evelyn Marie (Law) Bradford on February 8, 1953 in Jetmore. They were married for 69 years. Don attended Jetmore High School. He attended one year of college at Dodge City Community College. He was a business owner including Motel, Restaurant and Movie Theater in Kinsley. He was also a custom harvester and maintenance provider at Skyline School. He was a member of Free Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing the steel guitar and bass guitar in his band, playing harmonica at the nursing homes, collecting antiques and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Donis Harper of Mulberry, Kent (Susan) Bradford of Ormond Beach, Florida, Doran Bradford (Chantel) of Independence and Jolyn Bradford of Sawyer; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Don is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melodie Dawn Self; brother, Arlyn Bradford; and sisters, Betty Faulkner and Dickie Jackman. She was born July 13, 1919, in Kingman County the daughter of Artie and Rosa Sallee Dean.

A lifetime resident of the Penalosa, Lerado and Pretty Prairie communities, she was the former owner of the H&amp;R Block in Pratt and retired from Jim Hill Accounting.

Mary Alyce was a member of the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church; and was a former 4-H leader.

In 1939, she married Roy Jones; he died in 1999.&nbsp; Survivors include sons Jay and Max; daughters Rosalee Cooper and Constance Jones; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Lerado Cemetery.

Terry Lamont McGillivray, 63, of Burrton, died February 24, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born February 2, 1959, in Ulysses, to Chester “Mont” and Kathleen (Komma) McGillivray.

Terry graduated from Buhler High School in 1977. He served in the United States Navy from April 1977 to April 1983. Terry was an operations supervisor at Forest Products Supply in Newton. He previously worked at Collins Ambulance/ Wheelcoach Corporation as a production manager. Terry was an outdoorsman through and through. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, boating, any thing outside. Terry also belonged to Duck’s Unlimited. His cabin at Kanopolis Lake was his second home and where he loved to be more than anything.

On August 16, 1991, he was married to Rose Collins, who was his soulmate and love of his life.

Terry Lamont McGillivray, 63, of Burrton, died February 24, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born February 2, 1959, in Ulysses, to Chester “Mont” and Kathleen (Komma) McGillivray.Terry graduated from Buhler High School in 1977. He served in the United States Navy from April 1977 to April 1983. Terry was an operations supervisor at Forest Products Supply in Newton. He previously worked at Collins Ambulance/ Wheelcoach Corporation as a production manager. Terry was an outdoorsman through and through. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, boating, any thing outside. Terry also belonged to Duck’s Unlimited. Lizzie Schrock, 94, of Hutchinson, Kansas, died February 26, 2022. She was born September 9, 1927, in Hutchinson, to William A. and Rebecca (Nisly) Miller.&nbsp;

Lizzie was a mother and grandmother, a gardener and quilter, and dedicated to her faith in God and her church. During a summer of voluntary service with Mennonite Central Committee in Gulfport, MS she met Henry Schrock of Medford, Wisconsin. They were married June 8, 1952.They raised their children, first in rural Reno County, Kansas and then in Eden Valley, Minnesota. After retirement, Lizzie and Henry returned to Hutchinson. They were married for almost 67 years. Lizzie was a member of Center Amish Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.

Lizzie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, her parents; brothers Daniel and Levi Miller, and sisters Mary Yoder, Emma Miller, and Edna Nisly.&nbsp;

Surviving are children: Althea Salomone and husband Raymond of Mentor, OH, Virginia Schrock and husband Chris Moffatt of Richmond, VA, Mildred Sheppard and husband Jonathan of Monroe, WA, Wesley Schrock and wife Jean Ann of Arlington, KS; and grandchildren, Joseph, John, and Maria Salomone, and Joel, Peter, and Daniel Sheppard; and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth High and Anna Schrock.

Tammie Jo Suffield, 62, passed from this life on February 27, 2022. She was born to Fred Harvey and Colleen B (Regier) Yoder August 11, 1959 in Newton. 

Tammie was united in marriage to Edwin “Butch” Suffield June 14, 2008. Tammie was a lover of all animals. She and Butch enjoyed life together on their Peabody farm raising cows, chickens, horses, guineas, and an occasional goose. She had a special love for her dogs and cats that were her special family. She worked as a CNA at Peabody Health and Rehab for many years, her greatest joy was seeing the residents daily enjoying the best life they could. 

Tammie leaves to mourn her passing, husband, Butch Suffield, son DuWayne Suffield and wife Jodi, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister, Teresa Maples, sisters in-law, Wilma Hypsha, Juanita Birkle, Linda Olsen (Harold), Koni Yoder, brother-in-law Roger Hett. Many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and nieces and a host of friends and neighbors. Tammie was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Colleen Yoder and brother Glenn Yoder.

Miles E. Hoffman, 65, of McPherson, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born June 30, 1956 in Webb City, Missouri, the son of Rodney and Norma (Ritchie) Hoffman.

He grew up in Moundridge and attended McPherson High School.

Miles loved to travel around and rode his bicycle all over the United States.

He is survived by his brothers, Doyle “Tom” (Brenda) Hoffman of McPherson, Randy (Lori) Hoffman of McPherson, Tony Hoffman of Moundridge, Bill Bruce of Wichita, and Tom Bruce of Wichita.

Miles was preceded in death by his parents; and stillborn daughter, Catherine Hoffman.

Norman Richard McVey, 77, of Byers, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 27, 1944, in Liberal, to John Hobart and Florence Maurine McVey.

Norman graduated from Kismet High School where he played basketball and worked on the family farm. After graduating high school, he attended Hays University. After his time studying at Hays, he enlisted in the Army, where he proudly served 4 years in Vietnam. After returning state side Norman married the love of his life Bonnie Lock on August 15, 1970 and raised 2 children. 

He worked as a farmer and cattleman while growing his family. Norman also spent many years driving a Maintainer for several different counties. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Liberal, KS. Norman had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was always willing to help his neighbors and anyone in need.

Norman is survived by his loving wife Bonnie McVey, Son, Richard (Sue) McVey of Greensburg; Daughter, Rachelle (Joey) Sharp Stanford, MT; one brother, Bob (Janice) McVey of Kismet; 2 sisters, Joyce Buck of Perryton, TX; Carolyn (Ace) Overton of Amarillo, TX. Grandchildren, Renee McVey, Cody (Vickie) McVey, Brett (Halie) McVey, Alexandra (Jacob) Vap, Vaughan Keimig, Whitley Keimig. Great grandchildren, Axel, Ruth, Emersyn, Adalynn. Clifford “Cliff” Loren Gaiser, 81 passed away on Friday, February 25th, 2022 at NMC Health in Newton. He was born February 23rd, 1941 in Newton, to Katherin and Vernon Gaiser. Cliff met Patsy White at the First Christian Church in 1956, where they later married in front of family and friends on August 5th, 1961.

Cliff was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and community member. He will be missed by all those that knew him. As a family we often laughed that half of Newton knew him. You couldn’t go anywhere with him without stopping to talk to several people.

He was an active member of the First Christian Church and recently was given a title of Elder Emeritus, a title he was honored to receive. He loved getting together with his friends for a cup of coffee and going on fishing trips. Yardwork, gardening, and woodworking were some of his favorite hobbies. Many of his woodworking pieces were sentimental gifts given to friends and family. He even entered some woodworking pieces into The Harvey County Fair. He was always talking about his sons and grandkids. He always rooted for KU in sports but sometimes supported K-State to represent some of his grandkids that graduated from there.

He attended automotive school and then worked at Firestone for 12 years. After Firestone he opened his own business, CG Tire, which started out of his pickup truck. In the 80’s he expanded by opening up a shop in Newton and his son, Brian, joined the family business, thus becoming CG &amp; Son Tire. Cliff retired from CG &amp; Son Tire in 2013. He was actively on the Harvey County Sheriff’s reserves for 30 years.

Cliff was preceded in death by his parents Katherin and Vernon Gaiser. He is survived by his wife Patsy of the home; sons Brian Gaiser of Wichita and Scott Gaiser of Newton; siblings Merle (and Pearl) Gaiser of Illinois and Carol (and Larry) Hague of Newton. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Krysta (and Nathan) Goetzinger of Andover, Kayley Gaiser of Lawrence, Melissa Gaiser of Newton, and Rebecca Gaiser of Wichita.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at First Christian Church in Newton, with The Reverend Gary Bell presiding. The burial site will be family only at the Restlawn Gardens of Memory cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, March 4th with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.

Paul “Douglas” McCullers, 87, of Sterling, passed away February 23, 2022, at his home. He was born December 17, 1934, in Ocala, Florida, the son of Paul and Amy Hall McCullers. 

Douglas has resided in Sterling since 1988, formerly of Marion, Alabama. He graduated from DeFuniak Springs High School in DeFuniak Springs, Florida with the class of 1952, and later attended Auburn University and the University of Florida where he received his master’s degree in education. Douglas was a mathematics professor, retiring from Sterling College in 2001. He enjoyed pheasant and quail hunting, gardening, and carpentry. Douglas served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1955. 

On December 6, 1963, Douglas was united in marriage with Omega Davis in New Harmony, Florida. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Judd McCullers and wife Heidi of Sterling; daughter, Teresa Green of Chickasha, Oklahoma; sister, Genevieve Leach and husband Dan of Greensboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Sam McCullers, Carolynn Moore and husband Chris, Serena Green, and Logan Green; five great-grandchildren, Jude, Adrian, Catherine, Cainan, and Ivy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kathleen Garrison. 

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Alden Baptist Church, Alden, with Pastor Matt Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling.&nbsp;

Paul “Douglas” McCullers  |1934-2022| 

Marie Estelle Twitchell, 95, of McPherson, passed away at 8:56 a.m., Sunday, February 27th, at Cedars House. Marie was born in Washington, DC on March 24, 1926, a daughter of Air Force Colonel Francis Bernard and Margaret Elizabeth (Rieve) O'Donnell. Marie attended Linthicum Heights Elementary School, MD. She then attended and graduated from the institute of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD. She also attended the Bard Avon School at Baltimore; She also studied at the San Antonio College and St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas; and later graduated from the McConnell Airline Stewardess School, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, KS 67460. She was a former member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA; and Santa Rosa Catholic Church, Georgetown, TX. She was baptized on April 25, 1926, at St Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Baltimore, MD by Monsignor John J. Murray. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Woodlawn Plantation Alexandria, VA., for 14 years. She worked for the U.S. Government for several years in Colorado and Texas. Her favorite job was in the Public Information office at 4th Army Headquarters in the Quadrangle at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. when General Jonathan M. Wainwright was the Commanding General. She worked for two years as the Administrative Assistant to the state manager of the Texas Company before her marriage on May 2, 1953. Marie Estelle O'Donnell was united in marriage to Alvin Twitchell at the Catholic Chapel in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, on May 2, 1953. Alvin died on January 13, 2013. As the wife of career Air Force Officer Colonel Alvin Twitchell, she accompanied him on military assignments to Europe and throughout the United States. They settled in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972. In 1974 Marie went to work in Mount Vernon, Virginia at Woodlawn Plantation, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She and her husband Al both retired in 1989 and began their world travels. In 1996 they moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas where they enjoyed 13 years of warm weather, playing golf and playing duplicate bridge. In 2009 they moved to the Cedars in McPherson, Kansas to be near their daughter Patricia and husband Gary Goad. Marie was active as an golfer and avid duplicate bridge player, as well as a Red Cross volunteer, secretary, parliamentarian or committee chairman of various Officer's Wives's clubs, Girl Scout troop organizer and troop leader, Cub Scout Den mother, toastmistress, hospital volunteer at Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria and President of the Griffiss AFB Women's Golf Assn. She is survived by her children, Patricia T. Goad and husband Gary, of McPherson, Kansas and Douglas J. Twitchell, of Portland, Oregon; her brother, Francis B. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 3rd 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in McPherson, with Fr. Ben Shockey officiating. Marie Estelle Twitchell, 95, of McPherson, passed away at 8:56 a.m., Sunday, February 27th, at Cedars House. Marie was born in Washington, DC on March 24, 1926, a daughter of Air Force Colonel Francis Bernard and Margaret Elizabeth (Rieve) O'Donnell. Marie attended Linthicum Heights Elementary School, MD. She then attended and graduated from the institute of Notre Dame, Baltimore, MD. She also attended the Bard Avon School at Baltimore; She also studied at the San Antonio College and St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas; and later graduated from the McConnell Airline Stewardess School, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church McPherson, KS 67460. She was a former member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Alexandria, VA; and Santa Rosa Catholic Church, Georgetown, TX. She was baptized on April 25, 1926, at St Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Baltimore, MD by Monsignor John J. Murray. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Woodlawn Plantation Alexandria, VA., for 14 years. She worked for the U.S. Government for several years in Colorado and Texas. Her favorite job was in the Public Information office at 4th Army Headquarters in the Quadrangle at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. when General Jonathan M. Wainwright was the Commanding General. She worked for two years as the Administrative Assistant to the state manager of the Texas Company before her marriage on May 2, 1953. Marie Estelle O'Donnell was united in marriage to Alvin Twitchell at the Catholic Chapel in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, on May 2, 1953. Alvin died on January 13, 2013. As the wife of career Air Force Officer Colonel Alvin Twitchell, she accompanied him on military assignments to Europe and throughout the United States. They settled in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972. In 1974 Marie went to work in Mount Vernon, Virginia at Woodlawn Plantation, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She and her husband Al both retired in 1989 and began their world travels. In 1996 they moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas where they enjoyed 13 years of warm weather, playing golf and playing duplicate bridge. In 2009 they moved to the Cedars in McPherson, Kansas to be near their daughter Patricia and husband Gary Goad. Marie was active as an golfer and avid duplicate bridge player, as well as a Red Cross volunteer, secretary, parliamentarian or committee chairman of various Officer's Wives's clubs, Girl Scout troop organizer and troop leader, Cub Scout Den mother, toastmistress, hospital volunteer at Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria and President of the Griffiss AFB Women's Golf Assn. She is survived by her children, Patricia T. Goad and husband Gary, of McPherson, Kansas and Douglas J. Twitchell, of Portland, Oregon; her brother, Francis B. O'Donnell and wife Sally, of Derby; her three grandchildren, Courtney Wilkey and husband Tanner, of Sterling; Brian Goad and wife Kara Janae, of Cimarron; and Zach Twitchell, of Portland, Oregon; her five great-grandchildren, Brynley Janae Goad, of Cimarron, Kopper Leland Goad, of Cimarron, Annie Marie Wilkey, of Sterling,&nbsp; Kason Goad, of Cimarron, and Hank Wilkey of Sterling; other relatives and a host of friends. Opalea " Opal" ( Lirley ) Cyr, 94, was born July 10, 1927, in Edna, to Ramie and Lizzy Lirley, number 9 of 10 children.&nbsp; She passed away on Febraury 25, 2022 in Clearwater.

Opalea graduated from McClave High School, McClave, Colorado, in 1946.&nbsp; She was employed at the McClave State Bank in McClave, and First National Bank in Wichita. Opal was married in 1954 to Mervin Cyr.&nbsp; she was a member of the Eastwood Church of Christ in Hutchinson.

Opal is survived by her husband, Mervin; sister, Pat; 1 child, Roger Cyr of Clearwater; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Bierly; brothers, Paul, Clyde, Allen, and Ray; sisters, Lucille, Ruby, Hazel, and Alice.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum St., Hutchinson, at 11:00 a.m. with a private family burial to follow at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd., Hutchinson.
