Linda Marie Ediger, 80, of McPherson, passed away at 12:03 p.m., Monday, February 28th, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Sedgwick County.
Linda was born in Hutchinson, on March 23, 1941, a daughter of the late Pearl Fern Dreibelbis and Lynn W. Gisel.
Linda attended Buhler grade schools and graduated from Buhler High School, Buhler, in 1959.
Linda Marie Gisel was united in marriage to LaVon Keith Ediger on July 29, 1960 at Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church Inman. The young couple established their first home together in North Newton, where LaVon attended Bethel College and Linda Hesston Manufacturing. The couple moved to Aurora, Colorado for two years where LaVon provided alternative service at Denver General Hospital and Linda was an assistant apartment manager. This union was blessed with two sons at this time, Alan and Ron. The family then moved to Brookville, for two years, where LaVon was a school teacher/coach and Linda raised the boys. The family then moved to Clay Center, for six years where LaVon was a teacher/coach and where their daughter Lisa was born. The family then moved to Topeka, where LaVon was a department manager of a lumber company. In 1974 the family moved to McPherson and started Stewart - Ediger Construction where Linda served as the secretary.
Linda was a member of First Mennonite Church of McPherson, where she served in various capacities for many years.
Linda was a homemaker and took great pride in providing support for her family in this manner.
Linda greatly enjoyed her family, grandkids, music, crafts of all kinds, sewing, working in her flower garden, keeping family photo albums and volunteering for many things that provided support for others. She was a member of EHU-FCE and participated in bowling leagues for many years.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 60 years, LaVon Ediger, of McPherson; her children, Alan Ediger (Kaylene), of Goshen, Indiana, Ron Ediger (Lori), of McPherson, and Lisa Talcott (Nathan), of Halstead; her siblings, Dick Gisel (Jan), of Hutchinson, Jean Archer (Mike), of South Lake, Texas, Dennis Gisel, (Dee), of Lawrence; her four grandchildren, Tawny King, Lucas Ediger, Emily Ediger, and Ellea Ediger; and step grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Weston Ediger; and a sister; Betty Malone and her husband Bud.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Glidden - Ediger Chapel in McPherson.
The celebration service will be at 10:30 am on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the First Mennonite Church, McPherson with Pastor Willmar Harder officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 9 am on Friday March 4, 2022 at the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church, 43 13th Avenue, rural Inman.
