Roger W. Schott, 72, died at The Oasis of Golfcrest, Houston, TX, on March 1, 2022.  He was born in Hutchinson, KS, on August 8, 1949, to Gerhon Paul Schott and Nola Lavina (Frye) Schott.

Roger attended school in Hutchinson, KS, and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1967.  Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served from 1967 to 1971.  After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Wichita, KS, to go to college on the GI Bill.  Roger met Marilyn Beatrice Carpenter and they were married on August 31, 1974.  Shortly after they moved to Kansas City, MO, he began working as a computer programmer for Jackson County Court in Kansas City, MO.  Roger then worked as a programmer for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline, and was transferred to Houston, TX, in 1988.  Within two years, Duke Energy bought out Panhandle Eastern Pipeline and he worked for them until he was laid off, but Roger decided to remain in Houston and had lived there ever since.  He married Adela Gallardo in 1992.  Roger was also a substitute teacher in the Cypress-Cyfair School District.

He is survived by:  his sister, Ramona (Ralph) Shepherd of Hutchinson, KS; nephews, Robert ‘Robbie’ (Sarah) Shepherd of Hutchinson, KS, and Ryan Shepherd of Wichita, KS; great-niece, Rylie Paige Shepherd of Derby, KS; Suzanne Schott-McElheney of Dallas, TX; ex-wife, Adela Schott of Houston, TX; and stepchildren, Noemi (Gene) Pena of Wellington, TX, Bryan (Jessica) Moreno of San Diego, CA, and Sandy Jasso of Houston, TX.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Dave Childers officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park.  Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
