Paul “Douglas” McCullers, 87, of Sterling, passed away February 23, 2022, at his home. He was born December 17, 1934, in Ocala, Florida, the son of Paul and Amy Hall McCullers.

Douglas has resided in Sterling since 1988, formerly of Marion, Alabama. He graduated from DeFuniak Springs High School in DeFuniak Springs, Florida with the class of 1952, and later attended Auburn University and the University of Florida where he received his master’s degree in education. Douglas was a mathematics professor, retiring from Sterling College in 2001. He enjoyed pheasant and quail hunting, gardening, and carpentry. Douglas served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1955.

On December 6, 1963, Douglas was united in marriage with Omega Davis in New Harmony, Florida. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Judd McCullers and wife Heidi of Sterling; daughter, Teresa Green of Chickasha, Oklahoma; sister, Genevieve Leach and husband Dan of Greensboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Sam McCullers, Carolynn Moore and husband Chris, Serena Green, and Logan Green; five great-grandchildren, Jude, Adrian, Catherine, Cainan, and Ivy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Kathleen Garrison.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Alden Baptist Church, Alden, with Pastor Matt Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Community Cemetery, Sterling.
