Dean Wesley Alstatt, 88, passed away July 28, 2022, at Diversicare of Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born July 20, 1934, in Marquette, KS, to Herman O. and Gertrude (Burnison) Alstatt.&nbsp; At the age of three months, Dean’s mother passed way.&nbsp; His father married Florine Harris on October 29, 1938, and she became the only ‘mother’ that Dean would ever know.

He was a graduate of Marquette High School, Marquette, KS, and served in the United States Army.&nbsp; Dean worked as a lineman, an installer, and a repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone, that later became AT&amp;T Telecommunications Company.&nbsp; He was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Hutchinson, KS, the Pioneer Telephone Group, and Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, KS.

Dean married Shirley M. Snell.&nbsp; She died December 23, 2000.&nbsp; On September 24, 2005, he married Judy R. Holmes-Cape, at the Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, KS.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Judy Alstatt of Hutchinson, KS; son, Allen ‘Booner’ Alstatt of Marquette, KS; siblings, Kasey (Beverly) Alstatt of McPherson, KS, Flora (Russell) Malm of Marquette, KS, Vernon (Joey) Alstatt of Manteca, CA, Charlotte Knackstedt of Marquette, KS, and Jayleen Sellhorn of Marquette, KS; stepchildren, Robert (Norma) Cape of Hutchinson, KS, Kelli (Jason) Beggs of Frisco, TX, and Jennifer (Scott) Parker of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Heather Cape, Madison Phelan, and Tanner Trezise; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents; ‘mom’, Florine Harris; mother of ‘Booner’, Shirley Alstatt; infant sister, Delores Alstatt; and brothers, Norman Alstatt and Stanley Alstatt.

Donna was raised in Eaton, Ohio before moving to Geneseo, in December of 2017. She enjoyed singing karaoke and playing bingo. Donna was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Donna was very loved and will be dearly missed by all. 

She is survived by her children, Shawn Renee Cressell, Shannon Lynn Graff, Dawn Angela Peters, Harold Allen Moran Jr. and Brandi Nicole Bloodworth; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins. Donna is preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Richard James Downing Jr., Louie Downing, Robert Daryl Downing and Terrance Joseph Downing.

Penny L. Wood, 74, died July 24, 2022 at her home in Kingman.

She was born Feb. 8, 1948, at Wichita the daughter of Donald and Maxine Brasfield Augden.&nbsp; A lifetime resident of the Kingman community, she was a retired school psychologist for the South Central Special Education CO-OP.

Penny was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Kingman County Historical Society, the Kingman City Parks Board; former member of the Kingman Carnegie Library, Kingman Community Hospital and Horizons Mental Health boards.

On Dec. 26, 1967, she married Mike Wood at Kingman.&nbsp; Other survivors include two sons Kelly and his wife Andrea, and Brent and his wife Jenny; sisters Pud Shields and Cindy Evans; sisters-in-law Martha Ann “Baby” Jones and Susan Wood Moore; and grandchildren Laney Joan, Dawson, Hayden and Ethan.

Ayn was a graduate of Herington High School with the class of 1958, and later graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After college, Ayn worked at KSU, in Governor Robert Docking’s office, and for the Kansas Department of Transportation in Topeka. After moving to Alabama, she worked for Intergraph Corporation, Virginia College, and Books a Million. Ayn’s hobbies included genealogy and she was a voracious reader.

Ayn is survived by her brother; Robert Lee Gilliland (Debra) of Huntsville, AL; nephews James Robert Gilliland (Katie) of Charlotte, NC; David Lee Aldridge (Kristy) of Winchester, KY; and niece Stacy Michelle Wilhold (Gilbert) of Huntsville, AL, and many great nieces and nephews. &nbsp;She is preceded in death by her parents. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington Chapel is serving the family.

Bonnie Mae Bailey, 74, of Medicine Lodge, passed away Wednesday, July 27th at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 2, 1947 in Dodge City, the daughter of Kenneth and Jeanne (Sinclair) Cowles. 

Bonnie married Bill Bailey on July 30, 1966 in Jetmore. Bonnie was a 1965 graduate of Jetmore High School, Jetmore, and attended Salt City Business School in Hutchinson. Bonnie and Bill moved to Medicine Lodge, in 1973. While her children were growing up, you would find her at every sporting event, every rodeo event, and at the sale barn looking for that prize goat! For years, Bonnie and Bill owned the Gyp Hills Lounge and Motel (where Martina McBride got her start). Bonnie later became a job coach at Arrow Head West.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Kenny and Jeanne, her in-laws, Chet and Alice Bailey, and brother-in-law John Bailey. She leaves behind her pride and joy – her family. Surviving are her husband, William “Bill” Arthur Bailey of the home; three sons, Justin (Lori) Bailey of Sawyer; Dustin (Mitzi) Bailey of Kingman; and Landon (Lacie) Bailey of Gultry, OK; four grandchildren, Montana Shae, Rilee Swink, Dakota Weippert, and Blazi Weippert; two great-grandchildren, Skylyn and Eli; one sister, Kathy (Bill) Hixon of Tahlequah, OK; sister-in-law, Brenda (Bailey) Gassen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tex Lee graduated from Hutchinson High School and was a trade welder for several manufacturing companies.&nbsp; Tex Lee was the type of person who would do anything for anyone when they needed help.&nbsp; He was a friend to many and loved by all.&nbsp; He loved playing disc golf with his kids and riding his Harley Davidson.&nbsp; His children were his whole world and he dearly loved each one of them.&nbsp; Tex Lee will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Pops; two brothers, Carl Hutson Sr. and Jimmy Hutson; a best friends, Mattt Pritchard; maternal grandparents, Clyde and Betty Briley, &nbsp;paternal grandparents, Neil and Helen Hutson; and several uncles. Jack Franklyn Reffner was born on July 30, 1941 in Wichita, to Charles Fred Reffner and Dorothy (Kehl) Reffner.&nbsp; Jack passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans‘ Home in Winfield, Kansas. He was a rural Valley Center resident for most all of his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Dorothy. Jack is survived by his sister, Vickie Kingsbury (Bill) of Wichita; nephew, David Kingsbury (Zandra) of Ohio, and great nephew, Ryan Kingsbury of Ohio; many other family and friends.&nbsp;

His education began in a one room schoolhouse in Harvey County, Kansas called Centennial. Soon his family moved to Valley Center after Grandma Kehl passed away. Jack attended Valley Center schools, graduating from Valley Center High School, as valedictorian in 1959.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jack earned a B.S degree in mathematics at K-State University, 2 degrees at Wichita State University,&nbsp;B.B.A. degree in Economics and&nbsp;B.B.A. Degree in accounting.&nbsp; He was a member of the AKL Fraternity.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On July 1, 1964,&nbsp; he joined and served in the United States Air Force.&nbsp; He was a ICBM Missile Launch Officer at Grand Forks AFB, Grand Forks, ND. He was a captain at the time of his honorable discharge effective August 1, 1968.

Jack began his career employed in 1972 by Beech Aircraft as a scientific programmer, Boeing Military Airplanes as a software engineer and Bombardier Aerospace as a software programmer until retirement in 2001.

He was a member of MENSA International, American Legion, and Sons of the American Revolution.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jack took pride in being raised on the farm and the heritage of his family roots in this area.

A Graveside service was held with the family on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Kechi Township Cemetery, 6523 N. Hillside, Wichita.&nbsp; &nbsp;A Celebration Life Service will be held at Faith Church with military honors, time and date to be determined.

Renae Colle, 90, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born February 16, 1932, in Lyons, to John and Joanna (Gaw) Bailey.

Renae graduated from Lyons High School as salutatorian.&nbsp; She received her teaching certificate from Emporia State Teachers College and completed her bachelor’s in education from Sterling College. Renae received a master’s degree in adult and continuing education from Kansas State University.&nbsp; She taught at Nickerson Elementary School, primarily 4th grade, for 29 years.&nbsp; She touched the lives of over 600 students. &nbsp;After retiring, she worked as a paraprofessional for several years until memory concerns became more pronounced.

She was an active member of Midland United Church of Christ, rural Sterling.&nbsp; She was involved as a community and project leader in 4-H for the Midland Lucky Clovers and Nickerson Clovers 4-H clubs.&nbsp; Renae was a lifelong avid reader and encouraged education.&nbsp; She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society, Delta Sigma Epsilon Sorority, and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star-Queen Esther Chapter 32.&nbsp; While at Emporia State, she was a member of the Marching Band and was an accomplished pianist and vocalist.

Renae married Loren Anthony Colle of rural Sterling, on June 1, 1952, in Lyons. They were married for 70 years. She was proud of being a farm wife helping with the multitude of demands of the farm.&nbsp; Renae loved animals, including two pet raccoons, and rescued an orphan lamb, “Fleece.” As much as she loved teaching, family always came first with Renae.

She is survived by: loving husband, Loren of rural Sterling; daughter, Dr. Linda Colle Gerrond (Dr. David) Robbins of Weatherby, MO; sons, Lance (Brenda) Colle and John (Cindy) Colle, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Erica and Ethan Gerrond, Addie (Chris) Coss, Ben (Bridget) Colle, and Kevin and Kaitlin Colle; and great-grandchildren, Kadin Colle, Blaine Ybarra, Olivia Coss, and James, Stasia, Beckett and Mahaleigh Colle.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy.

Celebration of Life will be 11a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Midland United Church of Christ, rural Sterling, with Pastor Will Best officiating. Eugene “Gene” Richard Toews, 87, of Moundridge, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.&nbsp; He was born March 27, 1935 in Langdon, North Dakota, the son of Abram P. and Prisilla (Wiebe) Toews.

Gene was a member of the Grafton Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Grafton, North Dakota.

He was united in marriage to Joyce Katherine Schmidt on December 1, 1957 at Grace Mennonite Church in Halstead.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on December 25, 2021.

Gene worked at Big Chief Manufacturing in Hutchinson, later working for Hesston Corporation and Skyline Manufacturing in Halstead.

He is survived by his four sons, Gary (Elda Mae) Toews of Burns, Randy (Bonnie) Toews of Livingston, CO; Bruce (Susan) Toews of Pisek, ND; and Travis (Juliann) Toews of Grifton, NC; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lorne Toews of Grafton, ND, Jim Toews of Ithaca, MI, and Larry Toews of Park River, ND; and three sisters, Norma Reimer of Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada, Linda Toews of Altona, Manitoba, Canada, and Janet Toews of Grafton, ND.

Arthur (Art) Kenneth Dick, 102, died July 26, 2022, at Sunshine
Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. He was born to Dietrich H. and
Justina (Martens) Dick on March 2, 1920 in Buhler. He was a 1938 graduate
of Buhler High School. He was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church. 
 
On June 15, 1941, he married Eva Gladys Siebert at the First Mennonite Church,
Hutchinson. Art and Eva celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June of 2011
with family and friends. Eva passed away later that year on October 23, 2011.

Art is survived by a daughter, Deborah Cramer
(Wally Maya) Westlake, TX; two sons, Thomas Dick (Julie), Aurora, CO and David
Dick (Patty) Buhler; six grandchildren, Brian Dick (Paige), and children
Brendan, Tommy and Elin; Eric Dick (CC) and children Emily and George; Susan
Philbin (Nick) and children Caroline, Alice, and Meredith; Rachel Myers (Andy)

Waneta was a 1943 graduate of Halstead High School, Halstead.&nbsp; She was also a graduate of Adela Hale Business College, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Waneta was employed as a tax clerk in the Reno County Treasurer’s Office, retiring with many years of service.&nbsp; She attended the Burrton Mennonite Church, Burrton.

Waneta was a farm wife in her early years and enjoyed raising chickens and taking care of her flower garden.&nbsp; She was a member of the Hutchinson Sweet Adelines.

On November 6, 1943, Waneta married Willard N. Schrag.&nbsp; He passed away in 1979.&nbsp; Waneta then married Wayne Showalter on February 8, 1986.&nbsp; He passed away in 1996.

She is survived by:&nbsp; her daughters, Rita Franz of Newton, and Joyce Schnabel of Hutchinson; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Susie Schrag of Inman; sisters-in-law, Marlene Barton of Hutchinson, and Marilyn Schrag of Burrton; brother-in-law, Clifford Dick of Hutchinson; and special friend, Marcella Becker.

Della Bennett, 66, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 with her family by her side in Wichita.

She was born in Wichita, Kansas to Lester Wright and Ardyce (Coble) Wright. She grew up in Valley Center and later became a life long resident of Wichita.

Della graduated from Valley Center High School in 1974. She went on to attend some business classes. As a young lady, she participated in Rainbows. After graduation, Della married Richard Kuhlman and had 4 children. Della was a believer in Christ and raised her family in the faith. They attended College Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom and later went to work at McCormick-Armstrong. Della then married Cranford Bennett where she gained 3 stepchildren. They were members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Della was a very caring person. She loved crafting, reading, baking, gardening, camping, and traveling. She loved making Halloween costumes and Christmas candy with her children and grandchildren. She relaxed by reading her Danielle Steel books and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Della loved being outside going on long walks, camping with family and friends and traveling to see the great outdoors. She had many adventures in hot air ballooning, traveling to places like Cabo San Lucas, whitewater rafting in Colorado and enjoying the mountains.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Ardyce Wright, her son, Jeremiah Kuhlman, her brother, Dean Wright, her sister, Kathleen Head (George), and her grandson, Wesson Kuhlman.

Curtis attended the Wickersham grade school, McPherson, Hutchinson schools and graduated from Nickerson High School, Nickerson. Maintenance for 2 and 1/2 years in North Carolina along with his brother Clark until his unexpected death; and for Seimens as a Material Coordinator until his health would not permit him to work. Curtis was always a family man first and foremost. He loved fishing, fishing, fishing, hunting, camping, and anything outdoors. He was very reliable and brutally honest and stubborn but he had the biggest heart and was one of the hardest working men. Curtis Dean Hall was united in marriage to Robin W. Nakamura October 10, 2003 in Texas. Curtis Dean Hall, 62, of Inman, Kansas passed away Friday, July 22nd 2022 at his son's home. Curtis was born in McPherson, Kansas on December 9, 1959, a son of Leota (Morland) and Dewain Hall. Curtis attended the Wickersham grade school, McPherson, Hutchinson schools and graduated from Nickerson High School, Nickerson. Allen Edward Boyer, 84, of Loveland, CO, passed away in the presence of his family on July 21, 2022. Allen was born on July 8, 1938, to Charles and Winona Boyer in Danbury, NE. 

After graduating from Solomon High School in 1956 he spent his summer custom cutting wheat and then joined the Army where he became a paratrooper for the 101st Airborne. After 3 years in the service, he was honorably discharged. 

In 1965 Allen married his wife of 57 years, Vada Koehn. They raised two children, Tameria Janae (Boyer) Dishman and David Austin Boyer. Allen spent 17 years as a brick and stone mason and then worked for Johns Manville where he retired after 20 years. Allen loved spending time with family and friends hunting, fishing, camping, boating and playing cards. It was an annual event to meet his brothers and nephews on opening day of pheasant season and spend the day together. In addition to family he was especially close to his friends Charlie Johnson, Loren Boughman and Steve Marquez.

After retiring in 2004, Allen and Vada moved to Loveland, Colorado where he continued with his favorite pass times, as well as watching Tommy and Braiden participate in sports. Allen and Vada were blessed with making new friends in Colorado and enjoyed spending time with them as well. Allen was a dedicated and loving husband, Dad and Grandad. 

He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Winona (Ruby) Boyer, son David Austin Boyer, siblings Lois Zapp, Ardis Boyer, Enid Zapp, Richard (Dick) Boyer, Charlene Duck, and Ron Boyer. He is survived by his wife Vada Boyer, his daughter Tameria Dishman her husband Barry Dishman, three grandchildren – Chelsea Martin, Tommy Dishman and Braiden Dishman, sister Roberta Garten Johannes, sister-in-law Kathy Boyer, many nieces and nephews and many friends.

A graveside service will be held, Thursday, July 28th 2022 at 10am at the Elmwood Cemetery in Lindsborg. Military honors will be provided by members of the American Legion Post 24 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 with Mark Casebeer playing trumpet.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Doris Elaine Spradlin was born on February 10, 1930, in Hutchinson, to George E. and Edith (Waldo) Spradlin. George and Edith lived in Hutchinson until 1935, when they moved their family to McPherson. George and Edith also had a second daughter Donna. Doris was baptized at the First Christian Church of McPherson, when she was 8 years old. Doris attended school in McPherson, graduating from McPherson High School in 1948. Then she went on to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital’s Nurses training in Hutchinson and became a Registered Nurse on June 19, 1951. Doris worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Weir Pierson and Dr. E.C. Brandsted. She enjoyed working for Dr. Brandsted, especially delighting in the obstetrics patients and their newborn babies. She remained working for Dr. Brandsted until they both retired from active practice. Doris was married to Carl W. Swanson at the First Christian Church in McPherson, KS, on October 21, 1955. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage before Carl passed away on March 17, 2011. She was the mother of a son Dale and a daughter Lori. Doris and Carl were fun grandparents to Karin, Leslie and Adam. They were game to keep the grandkids so that their parents could get away now and then. They attended as many of Leslie’s sporting events as they were able. They lovingly created and maintained “the pond” where the family could gather for fishing and for celebrations. The great-grandsons Jacob and Dylan grew up enjoying being at the pond – they could ride in the paddle boat, swing, or play in the sandpile. Many extended family celebrations were held there. Doris planted flowers that made the pond a very attractive place to gather and organized all the meals that took place at the pond. When great-great-grandson Derek arrived in November 2019, the family was able to take 5-generation photos with Doris! She made sure she had M&amp;M’s on hand for Derek’s visits to Brookdale as he got older. Doris loved sewing, making quilts for her family in her retirement. They are cherished heirlooms, especially now. After Carl died, Doris became very proactive for herself, selecting an apartment and moving to McPherson from the farm; deciding when it was time for her to cease driving and selling her car; selecting Brookdale as the assisted living facility where she would live…This was a huge blessing to her family. She was always a step ahead so that the decisions were hers, and not something they had to force upon her. She very much enjoyed gathering monthly at Hank’s with local members of her high school graduating class until the Covid-19 pandemic brought that to a halt. She also belonged to a Birthday Club of special friends who met monthly. Doris delivered Meals on Wheels in McPherson for more than 15 years, with either Carl or Lori. Doris was profoundly saddened by the sudden death of her daughter Lori on April 5, 2022, and her health went into a steady decline until her death on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the age of 92. She is survived by her son Dale Swanson and his wife Kris of McPherson, her three grandchildren Karin Krehbiel and her husband Jay of McPherson, Leslie Lyman and her husband Justin of Overland Park, and Adam Swanson who lives on the family farm; her two great-grandsons Jacob Krehbiel and his wife Katlynn of Salina and Dylan Krehbiel of McPherson; her great-great-grandson Derek Krehbiel; her sister Donna Dooley of Edmond, OK, and her nephew Dana Dooley of Texas; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, her daughter Lori, her brother-in-law Joe Dooley; her nephews Tad Dooley and Joel Dooley. We, her family, would like to thank Brookdale Assisted Living and Kindred Hospice for their tender care for Doris in the last days of her life. She was so appreciative of all of you. Janice Kay (Wilkins) Stowell Rothchild, 78, of Monett, Missouri, passed away on July 25, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after a short illness. She was born March 1, 1944, in Little River, the daughter of Vern and Fern Major Wilkins. 

Janice graduated from Lyons High School, Lyons, with the class of 1962. On September 6, 1963, she married Melvin G. Stowell in Lyons. They shared 27 years of marriage, before his death on January 1, 1990. On December 12, 1992, Janice married Lyman Daryle Rothchild in Lyons. They moved to Dodge City in 1993 where they resided for 1 1/2 years, before moving to Monett, Missouri in 1995. They shared 30 years of marriage. Janice is survived by her husband, Daryle of the home; daughter, Donna Stowell Starling and husband Bill of Branson West, MO; son, Darrin Stowell and wife Shanna of Joplin, MO; stepson, Brian Rothchild and wife Chris of Superior, NE; stepdaughter, Shelly Rothchild Achtemeir and husband Brad Beatrice, NE; stepson, Travis Rothchild and friend Jamie Baloun of Superior, NE; sister, Sharon Wilkins Bechtel and husband Carl of Emporia; cousin, Gay Wilkins Hansen of Lyons; grandchildren, Kade Stowell and Gavin Stowell, step-grandsons, Taylor Starling, Chandler Starling, Isiah Achtemeier, Noah Achtemeier, Trenton Rothchild, Tage Rothchild, Tate Rothchild, and Taygun Rothchild and step-granddaughters, Olivia Achtemeier and Brady Achtemeier. Kathryne Rondella Ansell Shaw was born on July 7, 1974, in El Paso, TX to Ronald Downing and Orpha Kriepe. Kathyrne passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Kathryne graduated Andress High School with the Class of 1992 and attended some college afterwards. On August 8, 2021, she married David Shaw in Navarre. Kathryne worked in sales and jewelry. She was blessed with 6 children and 4 grandchildren. Kathryne loved jewelry design, music, and classic muscle cars. But more than anything Kathryne loved her family. All her children’s friends were also treated as her own. 

Kathryne is survived by her father, Ronald Downing and step-mother Sylvia Downing, husband; David Shaw, daughters; Brittany Downing (Tony Huff) of Arizona, Neveah Shaw, and Jasmine Shaw of White City, sons; Kevin Ansell (Molly Mercer), Andrew Ansell (Alexus Barlow-McKenna), and Joshua Lewis all of Herington, grandchildren; Elara Huff, Elias Huff and Bryson Hughes, brother; Larry Shay, sister; Karen Wilson, step-brother Jesus Benitez, step-sister; Annette Benitez Carrillo, Kathryne is also survived by many other family members and friends. Judy Ann Weigel, age 80 died July 26, 2022 at The Arbors at Waldron Place Memory Care Assisted Living in Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born February 17, 1942, in Munjor, to Felix and Elizabeth (Herrman) Schumacher.&nbsp; Everyone who knew Judy, knows she was a “social butterfly” and her greatest talent was her “gift of gab”.&nbsp; This earned her the nickname of the Munjor Lilly early in life.

Judy had a passion for music she inherited from her father at an early age.&nbsp; During High School she would often travel with her father on the weekends playing her saxophone while he played the accordion in the Hermanettes polka band for anniversaries and weddings all over Kansas.&nbsp;

Judy graduated from Hays High School in 1960, where she was crowned homecoming queen.&nbsp; While still in high school, she worked at her uncle’s beauty salon after school, helping wash client’s hair.&nbsp; It was there Judy became interested in being a Cosmetologist.&nbsp; After high school she attended Sidney’s Hairdressing Academy in Hutchinson, KS while living with her sister Alma and her family.&nbsp; Judy absolutely loved all children.&nbsp; Her nephews often share stories about waiting at the front door for Judy to get out of school so she could rescue them from the house for a bit as she walked them to Peter Pan for ice cream cones.&nbsp;&nbsp;

While working for another uncle at his local ice cream parlor in Hays, KS, Judy met the love of her life Darrell, as he chased her around the ice cream cabinet one day when he delivered milk and ice cream from the LK Dairy.&nbsp; They married April 29, 1961 and shared almost 40 years of marriage prior to his death April 17, 2001.&nbsp; As Darrell climbed the corporate ladder with Dillon’s Food Stores they moved across Kansas and Arkansas, sometimes transferring within weeks or months after the last move.&nbsp; Judy’s social nature was a godsend during these times as she worked to help Darrell and their three girls adjust to the constant moves. She quickly found work either at local salons or opening her own salon in their home.&nbsp; Once Darrell got assigned to the Dillon Offices as a Meat Market supervisor, Judy retired for a few years before purchasing Faircrest Beauty Salon in 1980 the year their oldest daughter graduated from High School.&nbsp; She continued to manage and work as a stylist at the salon until 1994 after her and Darrell paid the last college bill for their girls.&nbsp; Judy often said, besides raising her three daughters her greatest accomplishment and gift to the girls was their college education.

Judy had numerous hobbies and interests.&nbsp; Her greatest joy was traveling all over Kansas to attend as many of her grandchildren’s sporting events as she possibly could.&nbsp; She also enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and going to the casinos.&nbsp; Judy was known as a “wicked” card player.&nbsp; She enjoyed following politics and everything going on in her country.&nbsp; After her husband, Darrell died, Judy volunteered selling tickets at all the Trinity High School Basketball games, where she was known as “Grandma Judy” by all the Junior and High School students and staff.&nbsp; She was a member of Church of the Holy Cross (where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Rosary Leader) and St. Teresa Catholic Church.&nbsp; She absolutely cherished all of her thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.&nbsp; She often thanked her girls for bringing such amazing son-in-laws into the family.

Judy is survived by:&nbsp; children, Sandra Pangburn (Steven) of Hutchinson; Stacey Cahn (Robert) of Derby; Suzanne Schowalter (Travis) of Overland Park; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was proceeded in death by: her husband, Darrell; her parents; infant brother, Harry Schumacher; sister, Alma Aich; brother, LeRoy Schumacher; and a nephew, Ricky Schumacher.

Parish Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m., both at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating. Cynthia (Cindy) Lee Rankin, 61, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Newton.

Cindy was born on November 30, 1960, at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas to Roy and Miyoko (Noda) Robinson.&nbsp; She grew up in Sedgwick, and moved to Newton, shortly after graduating from Sedgwick High School in 1979. She&nbsp;attended Hutchinson Community College and Wichita State University earning a degree in Administrative Justice with minors in Sociology and Psychology.&nbsp; After graduation, Cindy worked for Harvey County as a 911 dispatcher for 18 years.&nbsp; She also worked for Hesston College as a Systems Operator for 5 years, was the Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police in Bel Air for 5 years and was a substitute teacher for USD 373 for 2 years.&nbsp; Cindy volunteered for the Girl Scouts of America and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

Cindy married the love of her life, Steve Rankin, on June 6, 1987, at the First Christian Church in Newton, Kansas.&nbsp;

Cindy enjoyed scrapbooking, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp;

Cindy is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Janet Brock.&nbsp;

Cindy is survived by her husband, Steve; brother, John Robinson, and wife Debbie; brother-in-law, Mark Rankin; sister-in-laws Kathy and Pat Rankin; nephews, Tyler Robinson, Joshua Robinson, Calley Piland and nieces, Hana Moore, Emily Robinson, Amanda Piland, Jamie Peschka, Stephanie Nelsser, and Fawne Richert; 12 great-nieces and nephews; many other family and friends.

Edward E. Miller, 80, died July 25, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center of complications from open-heart surgery. He was born July 1, 1942, in Hutchinson, to John D. and Emma (Helmuth) Miller.

Edward accepted Christ as his Savior in his youth and served the Lord faithfully. He was a loyal member of Center Amish Mennonite Church for 63 years and served as church treasurer for 40 years. A man of few words, Edward was deeply committed to his wife, his family, his church, and to the God he served faithfully and without fanfare.

Edward attended Elmhirst School. He worked for Architectural Millwork for 25 years, then was employed as a painter for 32 years, both for Yoder's Painting and more recently for Nisly and Son's Painting. Edward enjoyed spending time with family, doing yardwork, and reading.

On March 8, 1964, he married Alma Miller, in Hutchinson. They shared 58 years of marriage. She survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Glenda Miller and Carla Miller of Partridge; Gerald Miller (Cathy) of Guys Mills, PA; Keith Miller (Miriam) of Hutchinson; LaVon Miller (Twila) of Partridge; Norma Shetler (Tony) of Partridge; brothers, Jay Miller (Verna), James Miller (Miriam), Arno Miller (Linda), all of Hutchinson; David E. Miller (Barbara) of South Hutchinson; Nathanael Miller (Gloria) of Partridge; Andy Miller (Frieda) of Canon City, CO; sisters, Barbara Nisly of Hutchinson; Rebecca Miller (LaVerne) of Partridge; sister-in-law, Becky Miller of South Hutchinson; 18 grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Fannie Miller; brother, Albert Miller; brother-in-law, Larry Nisly; and a sister-in-law, Esther (Yoder) Miller.

Sunday, July 24, 2022, in Wichita.&nbsp; He was born September 8, 1952, to
William and Lorene Smith Olson.&nbsp; For a majority of his life, he was a
resident of Pretty Prairie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two
sisters, Wilda Miller and Reva Goheen, and his former wife, Sheri Olson.

He is survived by his three daughters,
Christina Gardner (Patrick), Kelly Chandler (Shane), and Erica Depenbusch
(Jesse), nine grandchildren, Addison Gardner, Kaleigh Wetzel (Ashlyn), Gabriel
Gardner, Christian Chandler, Savannah Chandler, Adia Sisson, Haley Sisson,
William Sisson, and Joseph Depenbusch, three great granddaughters, and one
sister, Delta Sullivan (Roger).

Peggy graduated from Buhler High School in 1967, and McPherson Vocational School of Nursing in 1968.&nbsp; She was a Licensed Practical Nurse.&nbsp; Peggy started her career in 1968 at Grace Hospital, retiring March 2011 from Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after 42 ½ years of service.&nbsp; She was a member of TOPS 9153 and a lifelong Nazarene, most recently attending First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson.

On August 8, 1973, she married Lawrence M. “Larry” Moffett, in Hutchinson.&nbsp; They shared 48 years of marriage before his death on January 5, 2022.

Peggy is survived by:&nbsp; daughters, Pamela Gosnell (Nick) of Inman and Carol Church (Nathan) of Great Falls, MT; brothers, Dennis Teter (Sherry) of Buhler and Douglas Teter (Vicki), of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Daphne Church, Kaitlyn Church, Ephram Gosnell, Ezra Gosnell, and Ezekiel Gosnell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; an infant brother, Billy; and a brother, Richard Teter.
