Kenneth B. Koestel, 101, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. Kenneth was born on January 3, 1921, in Arlington, the son of John Peter and Beulah May (Breeze) Koestel Jr.&nbsp; On December 27, 1976, he married Mavis M. Cannon, after a 1 month courtship.&nbsp; They shared 38 years of marriage prior to her death on December 17, 2014. Kenneth graduated from Arlington High School, Arlington, Kansas.&nbsp; He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1944 to 1946, when he was honorably discharged after serving in World War II.&nbsp; Kenneth was the co-owner and manager for Pella Products, Inc. and retired in 1984.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mavis Koestel; a brother, Vincent Koestel; and three sisters, Esther Smalley, Corinne Gibson and Velma Hipp.Kenneth is survived by his five children, Gary (Susan) Koestel, Cindy Koestel, Kim (Chris) Humiston, all of Hutchinson, Janet (Daniel) Mora of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Pam (Craig) Hietmann of Richardson, Texas; three step- children, Steve (Diane) Cannon of Hutchinson, Greg (Debbie) Cannon of Maize and Chris (Kathy) Cannon of Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren. Crystal Marie Rising Phillips passed beyond the veil on Friday June 24, 2022.

She was born on June 15, 1978 in Toledo Ohio to Robert Rising and Dorothy Mortimer Rising.

She is survived by her son Taylin Phillips of Herington, daughter Natalie Phillips of Herington as well as her former husband, father of her children and best friend Jimmy R. Phillips Jr of Herington Kansas. She is also survived by her Mother Dorothy and Stepfather Jimmy Daugherty of Lakeland Florida, and her father Robert Rising of Maumee Ohio. &nbsp;She also leaves behind brothers Marc Rising of Las Vegas Nevada, Ryan Rising of Las Vegas Nevada, Shane Rising of Springville Utah, Robbie Rising of Toledo Ohio, Drake Rising of Lambertville Michigan and Aaron Rising of Rossford Ohio. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many many friends from around the world.

She is preceded in death by her Step-Brother Anthony Daugherty of Tulsa Oklahoma.

Crys spent her childhood in Las Vegas, she met her husband Jimmy there and they were married and had two children Taylin and Natalie. She enjoyed working in the Funeral Service Industry where her husband owned Valley Memorial Cremation and Burial in Henderson and Las Vegas. She thoroughly enjoyed serving others in their time of need, especially those forgotten, left behind and young. She later followed Jimmy when he joined the United States Army and they enjoyed traveling the world together with their children, including Hawaii, Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, The Czech Republic, Austria, France, and The Netherlands.

In Honolulu Hawaii, Hickam Air Force Base Crys was the accountant for the Hickam Officers Club where she enjoyed serving and made many new friends. In Germany, Crys was a librarian for Moral Welfare and Recreation assigned to US Army Garrison Ansbach. She enjoyed this assignment as it combined the two passions in her life, reading and making new friends. She was greatly loved by many in the Garrison and continued lifelong friendships from her time there. Crys enjoyed the opportunity to travel and share the world with her children and encouraged them to live life as an adventure and never stop trying something new. &nbsp;She happily served as a military spouse for decades supporting her heavily deployed husband with honor and commitment, as well as raising her children on her own for great amounts of time.&nbsp; Crys served her country and did it well.

Crys was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.&nbsp; She was sealed to her family for all time and eternity in the Washington DC Temple.&nbsp; She thoroughly enjoyed serving her Heavenly Father &nbsp;through the Bishops Storehouse distributing food to the needy.&nbsp; She served in the community whenever a neighbor was in need. &nbsp;Her home was always open to visiting missionaries and considered them her foster children.&nbsp; Her home and dinner table was a destination of choice for home cooking, games and fun.&nbsp;

Crys “belonged” to two dogs which preceded her in death. The Chinese Shar-pei, Beetle Bailey, as well as the much-loved Yorkshire Terrier, Charlie Brown.&nbsp; She is survived by the Dinmont Dandy, Jade who mourns for her greatly.

Crys was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in August of 2020. She fought for two years with intense chemotherapy, radiation therapy as well as endured a double mastectomy.&nbsp; The day before Crys passed beyond the veil she was adamant she was continuing to fight and would beat this cancer. She said “I don’t need Hospice, I am going to beat this and walk out of here”, that is the Crys we all knew and loved.&nbsp; She absolutely never gave up, no matter how sick, miserable or downtrodden she felt.&nbsp; Her friends and family lifted her high and encouraged her and we know that when she could no longer continue, our Heavenly Father picked her up and carried her further.&nbsp;

Private services will be held with the family.

Orval J. Koehn, 81, of Moundridge, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at his home in Moundridge.&nbsp; He was born April 19, 1941 in Galva, the son of Jesse and Hazel (Unruh) Koehn.

Orval was an accomplished tool and die machinist.&nbsp; He worked 27 years for Excel Industries, Inc. and 11 years for Agco Corporation, both of Hesston.&nbsp; Orval retired in 2011.

He was a member of Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, in Moundridge.

Orval was united in marriage to Bertha Jane Becker on April 2, 1965 at Lone Tree Mennonite Church in Galva.&nbsp; She survives of their home.

Other survivors include his five daughters, Darlene Decker and her husband Darwin of Scott City, Ks., Sandra Johnson and her husband Jeremy of Moundridge, Deann Dirks, Loretta Unruh and her husband Joe, all of Paxton, Nebraska, and Trula Koehn of the home; four brothers, John Koehn, Allen (Rowena) Koehn, all of Moundridge, Glen (Nina) Koehn, Big Cabin, Oklahoma, Floyd (Wanda) Koehn, Stapleton, Georgia; sister Letha (Paul) Royer, Hillsboro, KS.; sister-in-law, Gloria Koehn, Moundridge; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Gary Louis Stauffer, 87, of Chandler, Ariz., passed away peacefully on April 13 of this year. Gary was born in Omaha, Neb., to Frank L and Cleota Grace (Correll) Funk. After his parent’s divorce, he moved with his mom and two sisters, Betty (Funk) Hilleren and Jean (Funk) Keller, to St. John, Kan., where Cleo married Emmett Stauffer. They added three more children, Michael Stauffer, Byron Stauffer and Sharon (Stauffer) Bowman to the family.

Gary served in the Army for a short period, before marrying Linda Lou Johnson in 1959. Together they raised two children, Gerald Lee Stauffer and Larisa Lynn (Stauffer) Schmidt, in Pratt. Gary was a self-employed construction engineer, providing essential services to Pratt and surrounding communities. An avid reader and traveler, Gary shared his love of life and adventure with his family through many fondly remembered family trips.

He is survived only by his brother, Michael, and daughter, Larisa. The graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm, June 28 at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt. An informal gathering and celebration of Gary’s life will be held in St. John afterwards.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was born in Timbo, Arkansas, on March 18, 1951,

Sharon is preceded by her oldest son Kurt Richardson and sister, Shiela Hargraves.

She is survived by her husband Adam Hill, son Nicholas Richardson and two grandchildren.

She left behind many friends and family in both Arkansas and Kansas. All who knew her, loved her and she will be greatly missed. A special thanks from her family to Lane and Cavette Dake, Elise Czarnowsky, and the many others who made her last days comfortable. She loved you all.

Cindy was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. &nbsp;Her favorite activity was spoiling her daughters, new grandson, and three granddogs, Jewel, Scarlett, and Allie. &nbsp;Cindy enjoyed volunteering with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for many years, live country music, classic 80’s rock and roll, playing cards, watching Friends, and attending musicals.&nbsp; 

Friends and family remember Cindy for her kindness, witty sense of humor, and loving, generous nature.&nbsp; She was devoted to her job as a Senior Analyst, Commercial Contracts at Enbridge Inc., and spoke fondly of the many colleagues and friends made during her lengthy career in the oil and gas industry.

Donna Mae Tankersley, 87, of Hutchinson, died June 20, 2022, at Sunshine Meadows in Buhler. She was born August 26, 1934, in Wichita, to Elwood “Dick” and Floy (Williams) Dague.

Donna graduated from high school in Wichita. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 60 years, 20 of those years being with Bogue Iron in Wichita. Over the years, Donna lived in Wichita, Hutchinson, Manhattan, and Anchorage, Alaska. She enjoyed boating and was a talented water skier and she enjoyed playing blackjack.

She was married to Donald Gene Tankersley, for over 50 years before his passing on November 25, 2009.

Donna is survived by: her brother, Elwood “Dick” Dague Jr.; son, Scott Tankersley (Sandy), Hutchinson; daughter, Stacy Ayres (Tim), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Shawna Tankersley, Nikki Tankersley, Justin Tankersley (Angie), Wendy McBride (Josh) and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Don Tankersley; son, Steve Tankersley and sisters, Norma Pallet and Katy Smoot.

She worked as a bookkeeper for over 60 years, 20 of those years being with Bogue Iron in Wichita. Over the years, Donna lived in Wichita, Hutchinson, Manhattan, and Anchorage, Alaska. She enjoyed boating and was a talented water skier and she enjoyed playing blackjack.She was married to Donald Gene Tankersley, for over 50 years before his passing on November 25, 2009.Donna is survived by: her brother, Elwood “Dick” Dague Jr.; son, Scott Tankersley (Sandy), Hutchinson; daughter, Stacy Ayres (Tim), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Shawna Tankersley, Nikki Tankersley, Justin Tankersley (Angie), Wendy McBride (Josh) and 10 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Don Tankersley; son, Steve Tankersley and sisters, Norma Pallet and Katy Smoot.A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Judy was a faithful volunteer for the Marion County Toy Run. She enjoyed cross stitch and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. 

Her loving family includes her longtime partner Robert Thornhill of Ramona; daughter Chelsea (Andrew) Weber of Cedar Point; grandchildren Tucker and Paul Weber and Abigail Smith; and her siblings Joe (Marci) Bickford and Roy (Kaiping) Bickford, both of Lawrence. 

Judy passed away on Friday June 24, 2022, at the Hillsboro Community Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Jessica Smith. A private family celebration will be held, and she will be laid to rest in Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.&nbsp;

Arlyn Frank Tonn, long-time Haven resident, passed away Friday, June 24, at Salem Home, Hillsboro, at the age of 92.&nbsp; He was born July 25, 1929, to Frank and Laura (Stade) Tonn at their home near Haven.

Arlyn received his education at St. Paul's Lutheran School, Haven, and the public schools in Haven.

On June 19, 1949, he married Juanita Fern Schroeder at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clara, Texas.&nbsp; The couple had two children, Arleen and Gary.

Arlyn was primarily an agribusiness man, who enjoyed working side by side with Juanita on their farms.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Haven, and a former member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

Arlyn is survivied by daughter, Arleen (Larry) Smith, Burrton; son, Gary Tonn, Haven; five grandchildren, Jennifer McClain, Halstead, Kristopher England, Bentley, Jessica (Cameron) Koster, Buhler, Jordan (Justin) Seuser, Hutchinson, and William (Kara) Tonn, Hutchinson; eleven great-grandchildren, Madison and Matthew McClain, Ava, Audrey, Asher, and Axton Koster, Quinn, Jett, and Wells Seuser, and Maverick and Noah Tonn; three nieces and one nephew.

Janice E. “Jan” Friesen, 70, of Wichita, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Reflection Ridge.&nbsp; She was born April 10, 1952 in Clinton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Menno J. and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Heinrichs.

Jan graduated from Corn Bible Academy in Corn, Oklahoma with the class of 1970.&nbsp; She later graduated from Tabor College in Hillsboro with a bachelor’s degree.

She worked as an accountant and Chief Financial Officer.&nbsp; Jan worked for the Cedars in McPherson, Mennonite Manor in Hutchinson, and Newton Home Care &amp; Hospice.

Jan was united in marriage to Loren Friesen.&nbsp; From this union, they had three daughters, Nicole, Kerry Lynn and Chantal.&nbsp; They later divorced.

She volunteered her time as a DivorceCare Leader at Central Community Church in Wichita.

Jan is survived by her two daughters, Nicole Friesen of Wichita and Chantal Friesen of Wichita; and brother, Norman Dale Heinrichs of Corn, OK.

She was preceded in death by parents; and daughter, Kerry Lynn Friesen.

wife and mother.

She
married Richard Spence October 19, 1947, at the First Baptist Church in
McPherson.&nbsp; He died October 20, 2009.

Survivors
include her four children: David Spence, Hutchinson; Dick Spence, Galva; Monica
and husband Clarence Bounds, Wright; and Denice and husband Greg Dater, Little
River; four grandchildren, Joseph Potts and friend Erica Jackson, Dodge City;

Darlene Kay (Bell) Kasselman was born June 5, 1945 and joined the Lord on June 21, 2022.&nbsp; Born to John Elmer and Ruby (Perkins) Bell in Lyons.

She is survived by her husband Larry D. Kasselman of Valley Center; children Tammy Kasselman (Martin Navarrete), Daron Kasselman (Holly Kasselman); brother Ronald Bell (Patricia); sister Diane Cunningham; grandchildren Samantha Hill (Jeff Hill), Devan Navarrete, Brittany Young (Jake Wright), and Jacob Kasselman; great grandkids: Danielle, Waylen, &amp; Charlie Hayes, Jarrod and Jace Hill, Jianna &amp; Josie Wright; many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Jesse Navarrete.

As a youth she moved from Lyons to Sterling, Hays and finally Great Bend where she met Larry. She attended Brown Machie Business College in Wichita. It was in Great Bend where Darlene got her first glimpse of Larry. She was working in the upstairs office of Montgomery Wards. Larry would come over from the tire shop on Thursday night to pick up his pay envelope of $49.19 cash. Larry encountered Darlene on a double date and later asked his buddy permission to ask her out.&nbsp; Dating less than a year, they went to Pastor Talbet. As pastors are prone to do it wasn’t long before salvation came up. After presenting the love of God through Christ, She readily accepted. She grew in Jesus Christ becoming more and more faithful over 56 years.&nbsp; She worked in real estate in Great Bend and later opened a clothing store called “Tammy’s to provide plus size clothing for women. In 1979 Larry was transferred to Wichita and the family moved to Valley Center. Darlene got a job at Koch Industries which turned out to be more physical than she expected. She got a job with the Ark Valley State Bank for many years.&nbsp; Daughter Tammy was working in home health and Darlene then began working doing the books. They later decided to start their own company which became a family story starting in our home’s basement, relocating four times ending up in Wichita with a satellite office in Hutchinson. In early 2014 Darlene’s mind began changing. The doctor gave her a piece of string and asked to make a circle with it to resemble a clock. She handed him back the string without understanding or trying. The doctor shook his head and sadly told us that dementia and Alzheimers is a cruel disease.

Darlene will be greatly missed by family and many friends and acquaintances. She was a champion of her family and helped many people who needed her help. To have her time back would be most selfish on our part. Christ has built her a mansion above. The family would like to sincerely wish to thank the workers and nurses from All Saints Home Care, Inc., Rivercross Hospice and Phoenix Hospice.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Helena Margo (Bartell) Meyer, affectionately known as “Tootie,” of Valley Center, passed away on June 21, 2022, in Wichita.&nbsp; She was born January 21, 1945, at Plaquemine, LA to Eugene Henry Bartell and Lillian Yvonne (Roseman) Bartell Bryan.&nbsp; Tootie spent most of her childhood and early adulthood in Topeka.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Topeka High School.&nbsp; She married Ronald Harold Meyer on December 26, 1962.&nbsp; Tootie, Ronnie, and their three children also lived in Springfield, MO, Wichita, KS, and Valley Center, (where she had resided for the past 45 years).

Through the years, Tootie worked for several businesses and corporations in numerous occupations.&nbsp; &nbsp;She retired seventeen years ago.&nbsp; Tootie coached girls’ softball and spent a great deal of time attending games and events that her children and grandchildren were involved in.&nbsp; Not only did she support her children and grandchildren, but she also supported domestic animals.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband Ronald Meyer of Valley Center, KS; son Ron L. Meyer (Jeff) of Kansas City, MO; and daughter Chris Woods (Ron) of Belle Plaine; two sisters: Susie Bryan of Roseburg, OR, and Annie Bomberry of Newton; two brothers: Mike Bryan of Topeka, and Louis Bryan of Greeley, CO; six grandchildren: Zachary, Brandon, Melissa, Marcus, Jonathan, and Everett; and eight great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She is also survived by her two four-legged fur companions:&nbsp; Duke and Attack Cat. &nbsp;

Samuel Jay Bucher’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Sam went home to the Lord on June 16, 2022, at the age of 79, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living life to the fullest.

Son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather were roles he fulfilled with love and laughter. Sam was a true friend and could always bring laughter and a smile to any situation with an unexpected sarcastic comment or observation. He kept us on our toes.

Sam lived a full life dedicated to his family and selfless service. Always having been an anchor for loved ones and friends, his presence will be greatly mourned but his lessons, love, and laughter will remain with us forever. That ornery glint in his eye and quick wit has most definitely been passed on to his sons and grandchildren and the legacy of laughter and love will live on.

Born December 23, 1942, in Salina, Sam was the second of seven children born to John Orris and Marguerite Marie (Roy) Bucher. Sam was a graduate of Arkansas City High School (1960), Cowley County Jr. College (Associates - 1964), and Wichita State University (Bachelors - 1970). Sam served as Sgt. E5 in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1962 to 1968 where he was Squad Leader - 1st Platoon Infantry General Support Specialist and earned the Marksman M-1 w/Rifle Bar commendation/medal. Sam married the love of his life Barbara “Jane” Donohue on September 2, 1966. Sam has served, volunteered, or belonged to: Haviland American Legion Adjutant; Kiowa County Library Board; Haviland United Methodist Church Treasurer and newsletter publisher; United Methodist Men; Haviland Pride Committee President; Boy Scouts of America Scout Leader; Haviland Volunteer Fire Fighter; Haviland Booster Club Member of the Year; various Square Dance Clubs; and he was a Ham Radio enthusiast.

Sam is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane Bucher of Haviland; his sons Orris Jay Bucher of Glendale, AZ; and Wesley (Shawna) Bucher of Dalhart, TX; his grandchildren Stephanie (Raul) Tapia of Phoenix, AZ; Jessica Bucher and Jackson Bucher both of Powder Springs, GA; and Waylon Bucher of Florrisant, CO; his brothers Jon (Susan) Bucher of Searcy, AR; Dan Bucher of Wichita; and James “Jim” Bucher of Arkansas City; his aunt Elamae Roy of Kansas City; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by both parents and his siblings Duane Edward (Ed) Bucher, Neida Marie Dunn, and Marguerite Estelle (Susie) Grimes.

Samuel Jay Bucher’s love of life didn’t come to an end with his death. Sam went home to the Lord on June 16, 2022, at the age of 79, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living life to the fullest. Son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather were roles he fulfilled with love and laughter. Sam was a true friend and could always bring laughter and a smile to any situation with an unexpected sarcastic comment or observation. He kept us on our toes. Sam lived a full life dedicated to his family and selfless service. Always having been an anchor for loved ones and friends, his presence will be greatly mourned but his lessons, love, and laughter will remain with us forever. That ornery glint in his eye and quick wit has most definitely been passed on to his sons and grandchildren and the legacy of laughter and love will live on. Born December 23, 1942, in Salina, Sam was the second of seven children born to John Orris and Marguerite Marie (Roy) Bucher. Helen R. Sheahan, 91, passed away peacefully with her children by her side in her California home Monday, June 20, 2022.

Helen was born Helena Rita Avila on December 9, 1930, in Lowell, Massachusetts, the daughter of John and Eugenia (Jennie) Avila. She married Lawrence R. “Larry” Sheahan, native of Kingman, Kansas on June 17, 1956. Survivors include daughter Brenda “Bernie” Sheahan and son Jerome “Jerry” Sheahan, and dozens of beloved nieces and nephews. 

Helen was a longtime member of Ascension Catholic Church in Saratoga, Calif., the Santa Clara Woman’s Club, and Sister Cities of Santa Clara. She was very proud of her Portuguese heritage but loved being “Irish By Marriage” and an honorary Kansan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence and her brother John Avila. 

She was a graduate of Salem Teacher’s College in Salem, Massachusetts, and, after raising her children, was a long-term substitute teacher in special education. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Church in Willowdale, with a rosary at 10:30 at St. Peter’s. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Teresa Elizabeth Sant, 67, passed away June 20, 2022, at her home in Sterling, where she has resided since July of 2019. Teresa was born August 24, 1954, to Douglas R. and Eloise Y. Constantine Nead in Santa Cruz, California where she spent her early years loving the ocean. 

Being at least 12 years younger than her three older siblings, Teresa liked to joke that she was raised by two moms and her dad. Her sister, Rochelle was a mother figure in her life and her mom was Teresa’s best friend. Her dad’s employment took their family to the Reno Area in Northern Nevada; Little Italy San Francisco, CA; and San Jose, CA. She also spent a period of her life in Washington state as well as Washington D.C. Teresa lived almost 40 years in Payson, UT where she raised her three children with the help of her beloved friends and neighbors. She worked at Behling Insurance Agency, and enjoyed sewing, reading, and family history. Teresa joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was 17 and enjoyed serving in various capacities. She loved studying the scriptures, and teaching Gospel Doctrine. Teresa spent years working with the young women and women’s organizations in the church. In her later years she served as an ordinance worker in the Payson, UT Temple. Teresa has a strong love for Jesus Christ and relied heavily on faith throughout her life. 

Teresa is survived by her three children, Jason Sant (Liudmila) of Orem, UT; Joshua Sant (Kimberly) of Sterling; and Jodi Thurman (Kyle) of Portage, MI; sister, Rochelle Barker of Billings, MT; and thirteen grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Yvonne Leibfritz; and brother, Rodger Nead. 

Memorial services will be held in Payson at a future date. Burial will be at the Payson City Cemetery, Payson, Utah.

Leona Mae Totland, 89, passed away June 23, 2022, at Hester Care Center-Wesley Towers, Hutchinson.&nbsp; She was born December 26, 1932, in Goessel, to Leonard and Helen (Schroeder) Schmidt.

Leona loved working outdoors in the yard.&nbsp; She was an accomplished ‘jigsaw puzzle solver’, and a skillful ‘furniture refinisher’.&nbsp; Leona enjoyed attending both musical theatre and sporting events.&nbsp; She loved her friends, her family, and her God with all her heart.

On June 12, 1955, Leona married Jack Eldon Totland, in Tecumcari, NM.&nbsp; They shared over 45 years of marriage, prior to his death on April 26, 2001.

She is survived by:&nbsp; her children, Steven (Meryl Friedman) Totland of Van Nuys, CA, and Tammy Totland of Hutchinson; siblings, Elva Unruh, Norman (Shirley) Schmidt, Arlene (Wilbur) Besore, and Louella (J.B.) Ensz; and sister-in-law, Gayle Schmidt.

Shirley Ann Jones, 87, of McPherson, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Friday, June 24th, 2022 while in the company of family, at her home. Shirley was born in Colby, on March 14, 1935, a daughter of Theresa (white) and Joseph Andrew Laurent. Shirley attended the Colby grade school, and graduated from Colby High School, Colby, Kansas. Shirley Ann Laurent was united in marriage to Earl Vincent Duncan on September 26, 1952 at Colby. The young couple established their first home together in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They were blessed with the birth of seven children, Brenda, Sandra, Gordon, Terri, David, Tammie, and Rebecca. Shirley was united in marriage to Earl Lee Jones on March 16, 1985 at McPherson. This union brought four more children into the fold, Linda, Chris, Patti, and Tammi. Shirley was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked at Lee's IGA and later at Farmers Alliance Insurance Company in the mail room both of McPherson and the Olathe School District working in the Central Kitchen. Shirley was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 153 in Olathe and volunteered for Bluebirds and Campfire Girls. Shirley enjoyed camping, dancing, bowling, gardening in her vegetable and flower gardens, watching old westerns and spending time with her family especially her grandkids. She is survived by her children, Brenda Dietrich, of Topeka, Kansas, Sandy Headley and husband Steve, of Uniontown, Terri Schrag, and husband Don, of McPherson, Dave Duncan and wife Jodi, of Lindsborg, Tammie Eichinger and husband Steve, of Olathe, and Becky Longfellow, of Lenexa; her stepchildren, Debbie Jones, of Olathe, Patti Bagley, and husband Don, of Olathe, and Tammi Cooley, of Olathe; her sister, Maxine Bohn and husband Delbert, of McPherson; her 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren with one on the way!; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Sherri Lea Walker was born to Thelma and Marvin L. Walker on December 9, 1961, in Oberlin. She entered eternal rest at the age of 60 on June 21, 20222, after a prolonged illness. She graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1980. 

     Sherri worked as a CNA, a waitress, and a babysitter until her health prevented her from doing so. Then she cared for her mother for many years while in Oberlin, following her parents to Lindsborg in 2005. She loved her nieces and nephews as well as visiting with her best friend, Donna, and her many friends at Blue Stem Pace. 

     Sherri was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Sandra; and brother, Rick. 

     She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Marvin C. and Kris Walker and nephew Dylan Walker, all of Lindsborg; nephews Rick Walker and family of Louisburg, Mike Walker and family of Banks, Oregon, Andrew Walker; and niece,  Allyson Walker of Emporia,

Kathleen Ann Cunningham Ziegler, 85, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

She was born June 8, 1937, in Zenda, the daughter of William and Rose Mary Thissen Cunningham.&nbsp; A lifetime resident of Kingman County, she worked at the Copa Kitchen until she retired.

Kathy was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Kingman; and was a volunteer for the NU-2-U store for many years.&nbsp; She loved baking, garage sales, auctions, puzzles and her family.

On March 2, 1957, she married Lester Ziegler at Zenda.&nbsp; Other survivors include sons Don (Deb), Terry (Terri), Mike (Kim); daughters Marilyn (Doug) Rodman, Nancy (Greg) Burnett; brother Jimmy; sisters Wilma, Judy and Alicia; grandchildren Megan Rucker, Claire Ziegler, Brandon Ziegler, Christopher Ziegler, Trevor Ziegler, Hannah Alexander, Dillon Burnett and Kayla Burnett; great grandchildren Audrey, Brooke, Miah, Nova, Brooks, Briggs, Maisyn, Brinlee, Saylor and Allison; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her sisters Joan, Dorothy, Mary, Eileen and Patricia; and a grandson Garrett Rodman.

Calvin Neal, Jr. was born on January 19, 1966 to Calvin Neal, Sr. and Birdie Louise Biggs in Oklahoma City. He was known to all as “Junior”. He attended Willow brook Elementary, Parker Elementary and Star Spencer High School.

Calvin was a life member of Greater Coates Temple Church of God in Christ under Superintendent Ernest Byrd until his death. He played the drums and sung in the choir. His favorite song was “Holy Ghost”. No one could sing it better.

Calvin loved to make people laugh. He loved to play his oldies music and old gospel. He loved to call you and play his favorites. He loved his animals. He would often send you pictures of his gigantic fish. He loved to cook and BBQ. Most of all he loved his family. He loved his grandchildren. He never met a stranger.

God called Calvin home on June 20, 2022, after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Neal, Sr. one sister Coretta Evette Neal-Woods and one daughter Jacquelyn “Mercedes” Malloy. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Birdie Louise Biggs; seven children, Domnick Meadows, Calvin Neal III, Marcus Meadows, Michael Neal, Juanita Neal, Jasmine Flowers, and Kellie Addison; one brother Lonnie V. Neal; two sisters LaTasha Jackson and Lawonda Neal Stanfield; two special brothers, Charles Woods and Marvin Preston; and his favorite hanging buddy Frantz Stanfield III. He has 34 grandchildren. Calvin also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved the gentle giant. He will truly be missed.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Calvin Neal, Jr. was born on January 19, 1966 to Calvin Neal, Sr. and Birdie Louise Biggs in Oklahoma City. He was known to all as “Junior”. He attended Willow brook Elementary, Parker Elementary and Star Spencer High School.Calvin was a life member of Greater Coates Temple Church of God in Christ under Superintendent Ernest Byrd until his death. He played the drums and sung in the choir. His favorite song was “Holy Ghost”. No one could sing it better.Calvin loved to make people laugh. He loved to play his oldies music and old gospel. He loved to call you and play his favorites. He loved his animals. He would often send you pictures of his gigantic fish. He loved to cook and BBQ. Most of all he loved his family. He loved his grandchildren. He never met a stranger.God called Calvin home on June 20, 2022, after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Neal, Sr. one sister Coretta Evette Neal-Woods and one daughter Jacquelyn “Mercedes” Malloy. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Birdie Louise Biggs; seven children, Domnick Meadows, Calvin Neal III, Marcus Meadows, Michael Neal, Juanita Neal, Jasmine Flowers, and Kellie Addison; one brother Lonnie V. Neal; two sisters LaTasha Jackson and Lawonda Neal Stanfield; two special brothers, Charles Woods and Marvin Preston; and his favorite hanging buddy Frantz Stanfield III. He has 34 grandchildren. Calvin also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved the gentle giant. He will truly be missed.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Mamie Lee Graham, 78, of Burrton, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at NMC Health in Newton.&nbsp; She was born June 20, 1944 in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Vernon Joseph and Virginia Irene (Litton) Sheib.

Mamie married John Wesley Graham on November 14, 1959 in Auburn, Nebraska.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on June 28, 2021.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet (David) Baker of Lynchburg, VA; son, Bill (Dianna) Graham of Nickerson; six grandchildren, Tyler (Jaclyn) Baker, Austin (Alexandria) Baker, Hillary Baker, Wesley (Jamie) Graham, Joshua (Jaimie) Graham, and David Graham; three great-grandchildren, Ellianna Grace Graham, Boden David Baker, and Ellison Ruby Baker; and twin great-grandchildren on the way; sisters, Darlene (Tony) Toogood of Nebraska City, NE, Elsie Benecke of Craig, Colorado, and Linda (Rick) Myers of Newton; and brother, Vernon Bernard (Donna) Sheib of Nebraska City, NE.

Mamie was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vera Jean Senn and three infant siblings, Bobby Jean, Carol Sue and Evelyn Irene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Haven Baptist Church. Private family burial will take place at Valley Township Cemetery, rural Burrton. Friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 27 at Ott Funeral Home.&nbsp;

In Loving Memory of Carla Cavin: August 24th, 1952 – June 21, 2022 Carla Faye Cavin passed away peacefully in her home on June 21, 2022, in the presence of her loving husband, son, family and friends. Carla was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on August 24th, 1952, to parents Carl and Donna Vincent. She attended Buhler High School and Hutchinson Community College. On November 24th, 1979, she, along with her sons BJ and Mikey, were joined in marriage to Don Cavin and they settled in as a family in Dewey, OK. For 29 years, Carla worked as a staff support specialist and bus driver for the Dewey School system where she enjoyed her time with both kids and staff. She also managed the books for the family business. Carla also enjoyed working in the yard, mowing and tending to plants and flowers. She was an avid sports fan and tireless supporter of her two favorite teams - the Dewey Bulldoggers and OSU Cowboys. Carla fought a courageous battle for breath with COPD that in the end limited her mobility and diminished her physical capabilities but was unable to diminish her outlook on life and love for family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Donna, her oldest son BJ, parents-in law Bill and Lois and sister-in law Gayle. She is survived by her husband Don Cavin, son Mikey Cavin, brothers Ron Vincent and Don Miller and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and uncles. The family is very appreciative of the end-of-life care and support provided by Compassus and the tireless care provided by Becky Vincent and our special friend, Judy Sanders. A celebration of life and remembrance will be held at the Dewey High School Auditorium, Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 am, casual attire is expected. Debra Ann Kelso, 65, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away
Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at her home.&nbsp; She
was born July 28, 1956 in Moundridge, the daughter of Eugene “Gene” D.
and June J. (Stucky) Graber.

She graduated from Moundridge High School with the class
of 1974.&nbsp; Deb later graduated from Salt
City Business College.

Deb was united in marriage to Scot Kelso on June 24,
2000 in Arkansas.

She was a member at Whitestone Mennonite Church in
Hesston.

Deb worked as the assistant to the CEO of Halstead
Hospital, later following the CEO to Wesley Hospital in Wichita, where she
worked until her passing.

She is survived by her husband Scot Kelso of Hesston;
son, Dustin (Cassie) Koehn of Newton; mother, June Graber; two granddaughters,
Lakyn and Kinzie Koehn; and sister, Connie (Keith) Schrag of Moundridge; 

Deb was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Dale
Graber.

Graveside services
will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2022 at St. Mary’s Cemetery,
Newton. A celebration of life service
