Cynthia (Cindy) Lee Rankin, 61, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Newton.
Cindy was born on November 30, 1960, at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas to Roy and Miyoko (Noda) Robinson. She grew up in Sedgwick, and moved to Newton, shortly after graduating from Sedgwick High School in 1979. She attended Hutchinson Community College and Wichita State University earning a degree in Administrative Justice with minors in Sociology and Psychology. After graduation, Cindy worked for Harvey County as a 911 dispatcher for 18 years. She also worked for Hesston College as a Systems Operator for 5 years, was the Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police in Bel Air for 5 years and was a substitute teacher for USD 373 for 2 years. Cindy volunteered for the Girl Scouts of America and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
Cindy married the love of her life, Steve Rankin, on June 6, 1987, at the First Christian Church in Newton, Kansas.
Cindy enjoyed scrapbooking, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends.
Cindy is preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Janet Brock.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Steve; brother, John Robinson, and wife Debbie; brother-in-law, Mark Rankin; sister-in-laws Kathy and Pat Rankin; nephews, Tyler Robinson, Joshua Robinson, Calley Piland and nieces, Hana Moore, Emily Robinson, Amanda Piland, Jamie Peschka, Stephanie Nelsser, and Fawne Richert; 12 great-nieces and nephews; many other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Meridian Center, 1420 East Broadway Street, Newton, Kansas. Guests are invited to wear pink in honor of Cindy.
There will not be a visitation nor viewing as cremation has taken place.
