Merlin Jay Miller was born to Mary Fern
Eby Miller and Edgar Jay Miller in Troy, Kansas, on September 10th, 1931. He
grew up with two sisters: Letha and Patricia. Merlin graduated from high school
in 1950, then attended McPherson College.

In 1953, Merlin was dating Delma Joan
Cline. Because he could not get time off to travel to Kansas and get married,
Merlin quit his job. The couple was married on August 28th, 1953.

On the day his father passed away, Merlin
also received his draft notice. He served in the Army for two years. Merlin and
Delma’s first daughter, Cheri Lynn, was born in 1956 at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas,
where Merlin was stationed. After his service, Merlin moved with his family to
McPherson, Kansas.

Merlin and Delma had their second child,
Diane Kay, in 1959. Their third child, Kevin Jay, was born in 1963. Cheri,
Diane, and Kevin have fond memories of their dad leading the 4-H club, coaching
softball teams, playing tennis, and taking them on family vacations. The
Millers faithfully attended Monitor Church of the Brethren. On February 27th,
1989, Merlin lost his wife to breast cancer. Merlin and Delma were married 35
years.

On January 20th, 1990, Merlin married Reta
Raleigh Hoch Gubser. Merlin and Reta were members of the First Baptist Church.
While married to Reta, Merlin began playing golf, woodworking, and rock
hunting. On March 1st, 2004, Merlin lost his second wife to multiple myeloma.
Merlin and Reta were married 14 years.

On August 17th, 2008, Merlin married Jody
Clinesmith Dombaugh. They were members of the First United Methodist Church.
While married to Jody, Merlin became a dog-lover and learned to play Bridge.
The couple enjoyed attending McPherson College ballgames and theatre
performances. Merlin lost his third wife on October 23rd, 2021. Merlin and Jody
were married 13 years.

In his last year of life, despite a
relapse of bladder cancer, Merlin spent his time playing golf, cornhole, and
pool with friends, exercising at The Cedars’ fitness center, and doing jigsaw
puzzles with family. He passed away on October 13th, 2022, with his family near
him.

Merlin is survived by his children and
their spouses: Cheri and Neal Hudson, Diane and Jim Patton, Kevin Miller and
Herb Acevedo; his stepchildren and their spouses: Wyatt and Mary Ann Hoch,
Keith and Gail Hoch, Brenda and Jay Bohnenblust, Dalyn and Mark Cantrell; his
sister, Patricia, and her husband Lowell Yoder, and a brother-in-law, Glenn
Gayer. Merlin is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Colby, Riley, Cara, Adele,
Logan, Erin, Lauren, Braden, Kaelin, Ashley, Whitney, Heidi, Katelyn, Casey,
Cristen; and nine great-grandchildren. Merlin is now reunited with his three
wonderful wives, and we hope for his sake it isn’t awkward.

The family will receive friends from 3:00pm
to 5:00 pm, Sunday, November 20th, 2022, at Stockham Family Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Bonnie Lou (McKee) Fry, age 79, residing in Park City, passed away surrounded by her family on November 3, 2022, after battling metastatic breast cancer for many years.

Bonnie, born on October 2, 1943, grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and graduated from Wichita East High School in 1961. She attended Wichita University.

Bonnie married Carl E. Fry on June 24, 1966 and went on to have two beautiful children; Steven Greg and Kimberly Suzanne. Bonnie was an accomplished woman, wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived a full life and enjoyed traveling, participating in car shows, collecting glass candy containers, flower gardening, and spoiling her children and grandchildren.

She landed her first “real” job at Wesley Medical Center where she retired after working 40+ years at the hospital. She had a lifelong passion volunteering and raising money for Cars for Charity, Ability Point (The Arc of Sedgwick County), and Starkey.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Albert Earl McKee; mother Naoma Vivian (Stone) McKee, both of Wichita; brother Denny Lynn McKee of Rogue River, Oregon; and Sister Patricia Marie McKee-Hilburn of Valley Center.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Carl; son Steven Fry and his wife Windy Fry of Goddard; daughter Kimberly Fry of Wichita; three granddaughters, Abigail Fry of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Faith Fry of Goddard, and Alyssa Fry of Goddard.

Donald W. “Donnie” Scheuermann, died November 6, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Donald was born on August 24, 1953, in Hutchinson, to Jacob and Barbara (Chase) Scheuermann.

John Branson “JB” Tarr died in the arms of his loving wife of 72 years on November 9, 2022, on his 91st&nbsp;birthday, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born November 9, 1931, in Cherokee, OK, to Jesse Cornelius and Lois Fay (Van Wye) Tarr.

JB graduated in 1949 from Planeview High School, Wichita. He went on to earn degrees at Wichita State and Pittsburg State Universities. He was a lifetime educator, teaching mathematics at Junior High, High school and college levels for 60 years. He officially retired from teaching in 1994 from Hutchinson Community College, but missed teaching mathematics, and became an adjunct instructor at NWAC in Arkansas for an additional 19 years.

Many athletes were impacted by Coach Tarr, in football, basketball, and track. He started with assisting in sports at Mulvane High, then coaching a sport for every season in Derby where he was head coach for track. He coached cross country and track at Hutchinson Community College for over 20 years, with a particular passion for long-distance runners.

John had a love of numbers, and acted as a statistician for many sports events, to include the National Junior College Basketball tournament and taking surveys at the State Fair. He passed his love of numbers on to the little ones in the family and a frequent sight was to find him working on math problems with them as soon as they could count. He tutored several grandkids from afar, as far away as Australia.

Beyond numbers, he had a love for golf, for birdwatching, for traveling, and for hiking, especially in the mountains. If a family member had an interest, he learned all about it so he could add it to his hobbies.

JB was a member of the Church of Christ, serving as an elder for 3 congregations- College Hill Church of Christ in Mulvane, Walnut and Campbell in Hutchinson, and Bella Vista Church of Christ in Arkansas. He epitomized a life of servitude. JB taught classes at these churches and was willing to also lead the song service and preach as needed. Of note, he and Patsy worked several years as facilitators for Marriage Encounter and counseling young couples. They traveled to South Africa to teach Bible Classes there.

&nbsp;JB is survived by: his wife, Patsy of Hutchinson; daughters, Deborah Herndon (Rex) of Arkansas City, Brenda Graham (Kenny) of Hutchinson, and Penny Pearlman of Coral Springs, FL; son, John Tarr (Kelley) of Brooklet, GA, 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He is survived by one brother, Van Tarr of Mulvane.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dickie Van Tarr; a granddaughter, Holly Jo Hadley; a great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Ehret, and 5 sisters.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2022, at Elliott Chapel, with son-in-law, Kenny Graham and Randall Caselman officiating. Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. at the Mulvane Cemetery, Mulvane, with Robert Hamm officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

Vance Silknitter was born January 23, 1952, in Wichita, to Grant and Genevieve Almack Silknitter.

Vance grew up with the streets of Wichita as his playground. He worked a paper route and had many pets: dogs, a squirrel, and a raccoon, which he used to tease his sister, Sonya Sue. His pet raccoon, Zoro, would ride on his bike with him which was quite a sight. He would catch pigeons along the canal route to keep as pets. Vance had a pretty slick system. He would sell his pigeons to friends, but the pigeons would return right back to him. Upon arrival the bird would be caught and eaten by his raccoon. His friends were none the wiser.&nbsp;After middle school, Vance was sent to Wentworth Military Academy, in Lexington Missouri as a result of getting into trouble and street fights. But military school did not change Vance’s heart. He returned to Wichita and graduated from East High; Dad continued to make poor choices. He was involved in crime and drug use but after two bad car accidents, which should have taken his life. He wanted to know if there was anything more to this life than a good time and near-death experiences. He had some “Jesus freak” friends up in Kansas City from his military school days and decided to go set them straight. But God did a work in his heart and Vance put his trust in Jesus Christ as his Savior. Those around him saw seven demons exit his body when he accepted Christ as his Savior. He didn’t have any friends in Wichita that could encourage him in his new faith, but God took care of that. Through a series of events, he was placed in a house with a Christian roommate, and they began to have bible studies in that home. Vance married and had a beautiful baby girl, but that marriage dissolved, and Dad was a single father for several years.&nbsp;Seems like Vance knew how to do pretty much anything, and if he didn’t know how to do something he would figure it out as he went. He worked as a machinist for 47 years at the Boeing Company and Spirit AeroSystems. After a day of work, he was always ready to come home to his family.&nbsp;Though they grew up in the same church Vance didn’t take notice of his friend’s kid sister, Judy, till she showed kindness toward his daughter Amber. 

Vance and Judy Shaffer were married on December 1, 1979. Now Vance was making some better choices.&nbsp;He fathered seven children and sacrificed greatly to send us to a private Christian school. Vance didn’t miss many Berean ball games, concerts or plays for 27 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a dedicated member of Swiss Church now Whitewater Community Church. He served as an Awana leader and then commander. Vance also served as a trustee for the church. If there was snow, he was at church shoveling it. If the lawn needed to be mowed; he took care of it. He had definitive ideas about how things should be done and made it known.&nbsp;He was an idea man; that can be clearly seen in his garden innovations. Every year, he was fine tuning his craft. He said that he was fulfilling the biblical mandate, “multiply and tend the garden.” Vance went out to water the garden July 29th. He lost his footing and fell to the ground. He spent the next three months traversing the halls of St Francis medical center, moving from room to room, unit to unit. Vance had a great sense of humor which he kept till the end. His faith was never stronger than it was those last three months. He didn’t understand why all this was happening to him, but he knew God was a part of it whatever the outcome.&nbsp;Vance entered eternity to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 7, 2022, surrounded by friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Genevieve Silknitter and brother, Stephen Kent Silknitter.&nbsp;He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy Silknitter, his children, Amber and Mark Baham of El Cajon, CA; Andrea&nbsp; and James Meier of rural Benton; Jennette and Aaron Gaudern of rural Whitewater; Nathan and Patricia Silknitter of Hornick, IA; Clint and Theresa Silknitter of Moundridge; Scott and Madison Silknitter of Whitewater; and Christine and Adrian Condit of rural Shawnee; 24 grandchildren; and his sister and brother-in-law, Sonya and Earl Harris of Colorado.

Vance’s life began on January 23, 1952, in Wichita. He is the son of Grant D. and Genevieve V. (Almack) Silknitter. Vance was a 1970 graduate of Wichita East High School and had attended Wentworth Military Academy. He was united in marriage to Judy Shaffer on December 1, 1979, at Mt. Olive Christian Church in Wichita and enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Vance worked for Spirit (Boeing) AeroSystems as a machinist for 47 years. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Vance coached his kids when they were young and enjoyed hunting and being outdoors with his family. He grew an outstanding garden every year and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labors with friends and neighbors. Vance had a strong faith in our Lord and was an active member of the Whitewater Community Church (Swiss Church) for many years. He was also the Awana director at church for some time. Vance loved his animals, especially his Irish Setter Sable. 

His great joy by far though was his family which includes his wife Judy of Whitewater; children Amber (Mark) Baham of San Diego, CA, Andrea (James) Meier of Benton, Jennette (Aaron) Gaudern of Whitewater, Nathan (Patty) Silknitter of Hornick, IA, Clint (Theresa) Silknitter of Moundridge, Scott (Madison) Silknitter of Whitewater and Christine ( Adrian) Condit of Shawnee, OK; 24 grandchildren and his sister Sonya (Earl) Harris of Bailey, CO.&nbsp; Vance passed away on Monday November 7, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Stephen Silknitter. 

His family will gather with friends on Friday November 11, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at the Whitewater Community Church where his memorial service will be held on Saturday November 12, 2022, at 11a.m. Private family graveside services will be held at Swiss Church Cemetery, Whitewater. After a day of work, he was always ready to come home to his family.&nbsp;Though they grew up in the same church Vance didn’t take notice of his friend’s kid sister, Judy, till she showed kindness toward his daughter Amber. Vance and Judy Shaffer were married on December 1, 1979. Now Vance was making some better choices.&nbsp;He fathered seven children and sacrificed greatly to send us to a private Christian school. Vance didn’t miss many Berean ball games, concerts or plays for 27 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a dedicated member of Swiss Church now Whitewater Community Church. He served as an Awana leader and then commander. Vance also served as a trustee for the church. If there was snow, he was at church shoveling it. If the lawn needed to be mowed; he took care of it. He had definitive ideas about how things should be done and made it known.&nbsp;He was an idea man; that can be clearly seen in his garden innovations. Every year, he was fine tuning his craft. He said that he was fulfilling the biblical mandate, “multiply and tend the garden.” Vance went out to water the garden July 29th. He lost his footing and fell to the ground. He spent the next three months traversing the halls of St Francis medical center, moving from room to room, unit to unit. Vance had a great sense of humor which he kept till the end. His faith was never stronger than it was those last three months. He didn’t understand why all this was happening to him, but he knew God was a part of it whatever the outcome.&nbsp;Vance entered eternity to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 7, 2022, surrounded by friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Genevieve Silknitter and brother, Stephen Kent Silknitter.&nbsp;He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy Silknitter, his children, Amber and Mark Baham of El Cajon, CA; Andrea&nbsp; and James Meier of rural Benton; Jennette and Aaron Gaudern of rural Whitewater; Nathan and Patricia Silknitter of Hornick, IA; Clint and Theresa Silknitter of Moundridge; Scott and Madison Silknitter of Whitewater; and Christine and Adrian Condit of rural Shawnee; 24 grandchildren; and his sister and brother-in-law, Sonya and Earl Harris of Colorado.Vance’s life began on January 23, 1952, in Wichita. He is the son of Grant D. and Genevieve V. (Almack) Silknitter. Vance was a 1970 graduate of Wichita East High School and had attended Wentworth Military Academy. He was united in marriage to Judy Shaffer on December 1, 1979, at Mt. Olive Christian Church in Wichita and enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Vance worked for Spirit (Boeing) AeroSystems as a machinist for 47 years. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Vance coached his kids when they were young and enjoyed hunting and being outdoors with his family. He grew an outstanding garden every year and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labors with friends and neighbors. Vance had a strong faith in our Lord and was an active member of the Whitewater Community Church (Swiss Church) for many years. He was also the Awana director at church for some time. Vance loved his animals, especially his Irish Setter Sable. His great joy by far though was his family which includes his wife Judy of Whitewater; children Amber (Mark) Baham of San Diego, CA, Andrea (James) Meier of Benton, Jennette (Aaron) Gaudern of Whitewater, Nathan (Patty) Silknitter of Hornick, IA, Clint (Theresa) Silknitter of Moundridge, Scott (Madison) Silknitter of Whitewater and Christine ( Adrian) Condit of Shawnee, OK; 24 grandchildren and his sister Sonya (Earl) Harris of Bailey, CO.&nbsp; Vance passed away on Monday November 7, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Christina Lynn (Moody) Radtke, 68 passed away November 8, 2022 at St. Luke Living Center after a three year battle with cancer.

Chris was born February 14, 1954 to Martie and Virgie (Orram) Moody in Newton. The family lived in Moundridge, then moved to Florence in 1965 before settling on the family farm east of Marion in 1967. She met Bud Radtke a year after she graduated from Marion High School in 1972, and they were married in Salina, on July 30, 1977. The couple later purchased the family farm east of Marion where they raised their children, Travis, Traci and Trent.

Chris worked at the Florence nursing home for 29 years until the facility closed, after which she worked at Casey’s General Store in Marion for 15 years. She made the Best Pizzas Ever! As a side job for 40 years she sold Avon. Chris enjoyed reading, sewing, collecting, and visiting casinos. She had a love for all animals. She enjoyed her birds, rabbits, chickens, ducks, lambs and dogs. But her greatest love was for her grandkids- she adored them all and would do anything for them.

Chris is survived by her sons Travis (Amy) Radtke, Trent (Robyn) Radtke, daughter Traci (Aaron) Helmer all of Marion. Grandkids Morgan Radtke Jenna and Wyatt Helmer, Quinn, Dexter and Lincoln Radtke. One Brother Kim (Carolyn) Moody of Ulysses, and three sisters Cheri Thompson of Eudora, Konnie Hamilton of Loomis, California, Cindy (Mark) Naff of Lawrence. James Franklin (Jim) Gosnell, of Warrensburg, Missouri, formerly of Blairstown, Iowa, died Monday, November 7, 2022, at the Warrensburg Veterans Home. A graveside service will take place Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown, Iowa.&nbsp; The family will host a celebration of life gathering beginning at 12:00 noon at the American Legion Hall in Belle Plaine, Iowa.

Jim was born June 4, 1941, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to James and Alma Margaret (Peggy) Gosnell. He was united in marriage to Beverly Karen Boyer on December 31, 1964, in Unionville, Iowa. The Gosnells spent 48 years in Blairstown, Iowa before moving to Ankeny in August of 2020, then Jim moved to Missouri following Karen's death in January 2021. Jim was a Radarange Inspector for Amana Refrigeration and a long-time member of the Marengo Church of the Nazarene. Jim is survived by his daughters, Vonita (Michael) Hill of Eureka, Missouri and Tammy (James) Gauer of Olathe, Kansas; son, Nicholas (Pamela) Gosnell of Inman, Kansas; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Simmons, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Karen; his brother, Bill; and his brother-in-law, Norman M. Simmons, Sr. Though dementia made his final years difficult, he had a love for talking about heaven in his lucid moments that gives us no doubt that his hope resided there. He loved Jesus and believed that he is the one and only way to true eternal joy. What a day of rejoicing it is for us to know he is where he always wanted to be. We want everyone who reads this to join him.

Eldon Lee Belote, 83, of Nickerson, died November 9, 2022, at his home. He was born April 14, 1939, in Sylvia, to Harold I. and Edna E. (Dunn) Belote.

Eldon attended Sterling High School. He worked as a refrigeration air-conditioning technician at KDOT for 33 years. A hard worker, Eldon also worked at McQueen Auto Salvage and did some farming, but was most passionate about auto body repair. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.

Eldon is survived by: his companion, Grace Hockett of Hutchinson; children, Cherl Blanton of Stafford, Delois Marler (Rob) of Newton, Cindy Ragsdale (Jim) of Hutchinson, Donald Belote (Teresa) of Lyons, Rex Belote (Tammy), Lonnie Belote (Dainta), Eldon Belote II, all of Hutchinson; brothers, Wesley Belote of Wichita, Larry Belote of Sylvia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Lloyd and Harold; and a granddaughter, Mackenzie Belote.

Donald Dean Rounds of McPherson, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at McPherson Hospital at the age of 95.&nbsp;

Donald was born on October 4, 1927, at 703 Walnut, Enid, Oklahoma. He was the first child of Jasper William Rounds and Hazel Marie (Smith) Rounds.&nbsp;

The family moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma when Donald was nine months old.&nbsp; He attended the first four grades of school at Lincoln.&nbsp; The family moved to McPherson, Kansas in 1938.&nbsp; Donald finished the fifth grade at Washington Elementary School and sixth grade at Roosevelt School.&nbsp; He attended Park Junior High and one year at McPherson High School.&nbsp; He graduated from Central College Academy in 1945, where he played basketball and softball.&nbsp; It was at this time, he started using the name Don, much to the displeasure of his father.

World War II was coming to a close so to avoid the draft, Don talked his parents into signing papers so he could enlist in the Navy.&nbsp; Four weeks into boot camp, Don had the opportunity to transfer to the Seabee Branch of the Navy.&nbsp; He was stationed on Samara Island in the Philippines for nine months.&nbsp; He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd&nbsp;Class.

Don completed Associate Degree at Central College in McPherson, in 1948.&nbsp; He played basketball and baseball while in college.

Don married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Alene Meyer.&nbsp; They were married at Cole Memorial Free Methodist Church in Kansas City, on July 1, 1947.&nbsp; The couple was blessed with three sons; Michael Dean, Bradley Kent, and Brett Kelly. Joyce preceded Don in death on July 21, 1987.

Don worked as Assistant County Engineer and retired from National Cooperative Refinery Association as Products Pipeline and Terminal Superintendent, after 30 years of service.&nbsp; The family moved from McPherson, KS in 1960 for Don’s employment with NCRA.&nbsp; Don moved back to McPherson in 1990 to be close to his family, church friends, and college friends.

On October 17, 1991, Don was united in marriage to Neva F. (Duncan) McCormick, in McPherson.&nbsp; They enjoyed married life together for 23 years.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on April 6, 2014.

He is survived by his son, Kelly (Linda) Rounds of McPherson; four grandchildren, Wayne (Brittany) Rounds, Kenny (Stacey) Rounds, Lacee Green, and Kim Robinson; two step-grandchildren, Christy (Erik) Velazquez and Cameron (Carol) Crick; seven great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, a brother, Bob Rounds, two sisters, Elsie Landess and Wanda Wash; two sons, Michael Dean Rounds and Bradley Kent Rounds.&nbsp;

Alvin was born on March 31, 1929 and grew up working on the family farm west of Pretty Prairie and helping neighboring farmers. He graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1948.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On November 7th, 1951, Alvin joined the Army and served in the Korean Conflict as a member of the Prisoner of War Command at the Kojedo prison camp. He was honorably discharged on October 28th, 1953.

Returning home, Alvin took a job for Santa Fe shops in Wichita, where he met and married Arlene Kaufman (Krehbiel) on July 16, 1956. Together they raised four children.&nbsp;

In 1962, the family moved to Topeka, where Alvin finished 37 years as a carman for the Santa Fe Railroad. Upon retirement, Alvin and Arlene returned to Pretty Prairie in 1994 where they were active in the community as well as the Pretty Prairie 1st Mennonite Church where they were members. Alvin and Arlene also delivered meals for the Senior Center.

Alvin was an expert welder and enjoyed carpentry and engineering creative solutions for his garage. His family remembers his sharp pool skills, his love of cars, his harmonica collection, and his wry sense of humor.

Rose grew up on a farm outside of Buhler, KS, with her Mom and Dad, Albert and Thelma Warkentin, and her older brother, Gene, and younger sister, Betty Joyce.&nbsp; It was a hard life, but a good life.&nbsp; After graduating from Buhler High School, she met and married her first husband, Dick Mills, and together her first son, James Richard, was born.&nbsp; When that marriage dissolved, Rose married her second husband, Robert Diasio, to whom two sons were born, Robert Jr., and David.&nbsp; After that marriage came to an end, she packed up her three boys and moved back to Kansas from Texas.&nbsp; These setbacks did not deter Rose from following her drams.&nbsp; She went to Salt City Business College, worked part-time at the airport, all while raising her three boys.&nbsp; After graduation, Rose landed a job at what is now known as J&amp;J Drainage Products Company, Hutchinson, where she worked 33 years until retiring at the age of 65 in 2000.&nbsp; She was an avid reader of romance novels, but her favorite book was The Bible.&nbsp; Rose also loved watching Nascar and Kansas City Chiefs football games.&nbsp; Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Whenever they would visit, her world would light up.&nbsp; Rose, Mom, and Grammy will be missed greatly, but we will carry on her love, light, and legacy!

She is survived by: her three sons, Jim Mills and Bob Diasio of Hutchinson, and David (Marcia) Diasio of Sterling; grandchildren, Teea (Tony) Wilson, Cody Mills, Ryan Diasio, Colton Mills, and Danielle (Ryan) Mitchell; great-grandchildren (who were the lights of her life), Chauntea Grissom, Lillyona and Cillian Mills, Jaiden and Easton Diasio, Taliyah Wilson, and Rhett and Maddox Mitchell; sister, Betty Joyce (Larry) Krehbiel; sister-in-law, Betty Warkentin; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family friends, Annette Morgan, Kelly Hartley, Sarah Smith, and Brian Fitzgerald.

Mary Ann graduated from Kingman High School in 1962, and Adela Hale School of Business in 1963.&nbsp; She worked at Farmarco as a bookkeeper and a variety of other jobs before retiring.&nbsp; Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, especially working in her flower beds.&nbsp; She was also quite creative making numerous items by hand. Mary Ann would spend countless hours crocheting, quilting, knitting, wheat weaving, and working on stained glass.&nbsp; She was a member of the Norwich Christian Church, where she enjoyed the ladies’ groups as well as all the fellowship and support the church provided to her. &nbsp;

Bruce L. Caudillo, 52, of Hutchinson, died November 5, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born September 6, 1970 in Hutchinson, to Ben and Linda (Guthrie) Caudillo.

Bruce graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, in 1990. While in high school, he participated in football and boxing.

He was a member of Moose Lodge #982. Bruce was a passionate Chiefs and KU fan. His family remembers him as a gentle giant. He enjoyed people and was often lost at events, only to be found talking to people and giving hugs.

Leo L. Holmes, 96, of Hesston, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at his home. He was born on November 23, 1925 in Hanston, the son of Elmer M. and Flora Mae (Goller) Holmes. He graduated from Hanston High School with the class of 1944. Leo later received his Aviation Management degree from Denver University. He also later obtained his private pilot's license and FAA Airline and Engine Mechanic license. Leo served in the United States Army in central Europe during WWII from 1944-1946, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Marita Heald on February 21, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. He worked as a technical writer for Aviation &amp; Farm Equipment. Leo later worked for Boeing for 17 years, where he was involved with modifications to Air Force One and Air Force Two. He was employed for 12 years at Hesston Corporation, and from 1970-1973, Leo owned and operated Holmes Dodge and Implement in Burwell, Nebraska. He was a member of the Hesston Kiwanis Club where he served as President and received distinguished Presidents Award with Honors. Leo was also a member of the Hesston United Methodist Church. Leo and Carolyn were instrumental in getting the Hesston Senior Center started. Leo is survived by his wife, Carolyn of the home; daughter, Marita Jo (Brent) Steckly of Beaver Crossing, NE; three sons, L. Monte (Monica) Holmes of Goshen, IN, Marshall (Renee) Holmes of Hesston; and Mitchell (Michelle) Holmes of St. John; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Leo L. Holmes  |1925-2022|  

&nbsp;Dale Arthur Schamle was born November 24th, 1934, in Vassar, to Charles J. Schamle and Julia K. (Fawl) Schamle. He passed away Thursday, November 3rd, 2022, in Hutchinson.

Dale was raised and attended school in the Ottawa, area, helping his father on the family farm before and after school. He met the love of his life, K. Darlene Hoffman, in Ottawa, and they were married on February 5th, 1955, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Dale became an over-the-road truck drive for Grave’s Truck Line, retiring after 35 years of service, and millions of miles logged. He was recognized numerous times for his accident-free driving record during his years behind the wheel.

After his retirement, Dale worked for Holy Cross Catholic School in Hutchinson, Kansas, as a maintenance man, where he developed friendships with both the staff and the children, who loved to see “Mr. Schamle!” He also enjoyed mowing lawns for several years and was a whiz on his riding mower.

Dale’s interests and hobbies were many, but he enjoyed spending time with family the most. He and Darlene loved to travel and took the family on many vacation trips. He began a family tradition of campouts at Pamona Lake, where the entire family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and assorted friends would gather for camping, skiing, laughing, and making memories. Many great stories about these campouts still circulate when the cousins are together.

Dale and Darlene enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, discovering many beautiful and interesting places during their marriage. A caravan trip through Canada and on to Alaska was one of Dale’s fondest memories, resulting in new friendships that endure to this day.

Dale was a long-time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, forging many friendships through the church. One of his greatest memories was a group trip to the Holy Land in 2016, accompanied by his son Douglas, and daughter-in-law Martha. It was the trip of a lifetime for him.

Dale passed along his love of woodworking, as well as his appreciation of classic cars, to his sons and grandsons. He was always content to spend hours in his woodshop or his garage, working on a new project.

Dale is survived by his children and grandchildren; Douglas Schamle (Martha), their children Weston, Denise, and Darren; Cathy McMurphy (Doug), their children Steve, Connie, Rachel, and Rex; and John Schamle (Jody), their sons Michael and Jayden. He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, his sister Darlene Cook (Cecil), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the world’s best cat, Elvis.

He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Charles J and Julie Schamle; his beloved wife, Darlene; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Patricia Schamle, Donald and Phyllis Schamle.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 12th, 2022, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson. The Rosary will be at 9:30 A.M., followed by mass at 10:00.

Darlene Hoffman, in Ottawa, and they were married on February 5th, 1955, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.Dale became an over-the-road truck drive for Grave’s Truck Line, retiring after 35 years of service, and millions of miles logged. He was recognized numerous times for his accident-free driving record during his years behind the wheel.After his retirement, Dale worked for Holy Cross Catholic School in Hutchinson, Kansas, as a maintenance man, where he developed friendships with both the staff and the children, who loved to see “Mr. Schamle!” He also enjoyed mowing lawns for several years and was a whiz on his riding mower.Dale’s interests and hobbies were many, but he enjoyed spending time with family the most. He and Darlene loved to travel and took the family on many vacation trips. He began a family tradition of campouts at Pamona Lake, where the entire family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and assorted friends would gather for camping, skiing, laughing, and making memories. Many great stories about these campouts still circulate when the cousins are together.Dale and Darlene enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, discovering many beautiful and interesting places during their marriage. A caravan trip through Canada and on to Alaska was one of Dale’s fondest memories, resulting in new friendships that endure to this day.Dale was a long-time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, forging many friendships through the church. One of his greatest memories was a group trip to the Holy Land in 2016, accompanied by his son Douglas, and daughter-in-law Martha. It was the trip of a lifetime for him.Dale passed along his love of woodworking, as well as his appreciation of classic cars, to his sons and grandsons. He was always content to spend hours in his woodshop or his garage, working on a new project.Dale is survived by his children and grandchildren; Douglas Schamle (Martha), their children Weston, Denise, and Darren; Cathy McMurphy (Doug), their children Steve, Connie, Rachel, and Rex; and John Schamle (Jody), their sons Michael and Jayden. He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, his sister Darlene Cook (Cecil), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the world’s best cat, Elvis.He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Charles J and Julie Schamle; his beloved wife, Darlene; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Patricia Schamle, Donald and Phyllis Schamle.Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 12th, 2022, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Marian Helen Lipe, 94, entered the Gates of Glory on November 6, 2022, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, &nbsp;Buhler.&nbsp; She was born September 10, 1928, in rural Inman, to John and Marie (Thiesen) Pauls.

Marian graduated from Inman High School. She was an avid pianist and singer throughout her life, the secretary of the Golden Belt Community Concert Association for numerous years, a long-standing member of the Parnasses Club, the Central Baptist Church choir director, volunteered at the Great Bend food bank as well as the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp; Marian was the church secretary for First Southern Baptist Church for 20 years and Mitchell United Methodist Church for 10 years, retiring at 87 years of age.&nbsp; From the Hutchinson News in April 2016: Marian discovered something she never expected while working for the house of God. “What I remember most about starting to work is, we have five children, so I was somebody’s mom, I was somebody’s wife.&nbsp; Then I became my own person- and I like it.”

On February 7, 1947, Marian married Raymond C. Lipe, in Inman.&nbsp; They celebrated 59 years of marriage before he passed in 2006.

Marian’s joyous heavenly homecoming party consists of: the recent passing of her son, Gary; her daughter and son-in-law , Sharolyn and Duane Meyeres; husband, Raymond; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Harry Bettin; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mildred Pauls; along with nephews, other family members and countless friends.&nbsp; WE are certain that it was a joyous event.&nbsp; We are certain that her daughter Sharolyn made it extra extravagant.&nbsp; And most importantly, Jesus was at the head of the line welcoming her home.

Fred’s life began on March 10, 1935, in White City. He is the son of Fred and Orlena (Kohls) Herpich. 

 Fred is a graduate of Woodbine High School and served his country in the United States Army Reserve before returning home to help on the family farm.  Fred was a lifelong farmer in the area and also ran a carpentry crew for many years.  He was an avid car collector and enjoyed his coffee group at the Hitching Post. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Abilene.  Fred was united in marriage to his wife of 64 years, Gladys Hamilton on January 2, 1958, in Oklahoma. 

 He is survived by his wife Gladys of Abilene; daughter Jennifer (Joel) Phillips of Florida; grandchildren Ashley Johnson of Emporia, Hanna Phillips of Florida, and Haley Phillips of Virginia; great grandchildren Briley or Gauge Johnson and his sister Alvera Waymeyer of Topeka.  Fred passed away at his home on Monday November 7, 2022.  He is preceded in death by his parents, son Rick Herpich, infant daughter of Nancy Herpich, and sister Florence Steely.

Mary Jane was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church. She was a retired Dialysis Nurse for DaVita working in New Mexico and Kansas for 27 years.&nbsp; She is survived by her son Patrick Miller and his wife Alexis; son Thomas Hershberger and his wife Rosemary; daughter Kimberly Lavato and her husband Michael; brothers Sharmen (Beth), Jim (Kay), and Dennis (Patti) Carter. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Betty Dody, Newton, former director and owner of Candy Cane Corner Nursery School, passed away November 7, 2022, at the age of 90.&nbsp; She was born December 4, 1931, in Bucklin, to Frank and Bertha Hoffman. She was a 1949 graduate of Bucklin High School. In 1951 she received an associate’s degree and teaching certificate from Dodge City Junior College, and

taught school in rural Dodge City. She married Donald E. Dody, August 6, 1950, at the First United Methodist Church in Bucklin, and remained married to Don for 70 years until his death in 2020.

Betty spent her entire career providing an unconditional loving, nurturing and learning environment for many children in Newton as owner of Candy Cane Corner Nursery School for 30 years; and after retirement in 1996, she was Lead Staff for Infants at Sunshine Day Care Center. She was honored during her career to be selected in 1969 as Business and Professional Newton Area Women of the Year. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Newton where she volunteered in the church nursery and was a member of Rachel Circle and UMW. She had fond memories as a member of the Sassy-Brassy Red Hatters.

Betty is survived by her son, Terry (Deb Scott) Dody of Manhattan; daughters, Susan Hutton of Wichita and Judy (Dean Long) Carnes of Overland Park; former daughter-in-law, Ginger Dody of Emporia, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Jerome “Jerry” Leonard Land was born on October 2, 1933, at the home of his grandmother in Juniata, NE to Charles L. and Josephine L. (Fifield) Land. After graduating high school in Omaha in 1952, he joined the army and served during the Korean war, stationed in Germany. He attended college and graduated with a degree in draftsmanship after which he went to work for the Metropolitan Water District in Los Angeles.

In 1958, he married Jacqueline Strahan in San Bernardino, CA, adopting her son, Steve. The couple had two more children, Linda and Todd.

He married Ruth Potter Black Milliken on April 13, 1991, at Clark, NV. They lived at several locations in California where Jerry owned a pest control business, The Fly Guy. He was always a diligent and conscientious worker and a savvy business owner.

After retirement, he and Ruth moved to Moundridge, and later to McPherson, to be near family. Jerry was an expert woodworker and made many beautiful pieces of furniture for his and Ruth’s home as well as making gifts for family members. He and Ruth always had a beautiful home, and they enjoyed sharing it with family, especially on the 4th&nbsp;of July holiday when there was usually a cookout and fireworks. Jerry enjoyed being around the extended family and celebrating many holidays with 3-4 generations. Jerry and Ruth attended McPherson Free Methodist Church and more recently, Cornerstone Bible Church.

Jerome Leonard Land passed into eternity on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, after several years of declining health. He was eighty-nine.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Land of Hutchinson; sister, Dolores Phelps of Florida; daughter, Linda Hess (Robert) of Twin Falls, ID; and sons, Steve Land and Todd Land (Jerry Reinke) of Joplin, MO; grandchildren, Serena Riley, Skylar Land, and Ryan Land; brother-in-law, Larry Potter of Inman; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; stepson, Wesley M. Black; brother-in-law, Richard Potter; sister-in-law, Judith Potter; and great nephew, Christopher Shepard.

A memorial service will take place at Stockham Family Funeral Home in McPherson at 11:00 AM, on Friday, November 18, 2022, with Rev. Tom Mayse officiating.&nbsp; Burial with Military Honors will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

A. Ralph Jordan, Jr., 87, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital.&nbsp;

Ralph retired from John’s Manville prior to owning &amp; operating Ralph’s Lawn Care.&nbsp; He then was a driver for Midway Motors and a greeter for Walmart.

Ralph was born on April 28, 1935, in &nbsp;Tulsa, OK, the son of Amiel Ralph Jordan, Sr. and Lucile Lois (Cheairs) Jordan.&nbsp; He graduated from Russellville High School in Russellville, AR in 1953.&nbsp;

Ralph was united in marriage to M. Belle (Pletcher) Folck on December 22, 1977, in Russellville, AR.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on December 9, 1989.&nbsp; He married Pat L. (Holt) Guy on July 31, 1993, in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; She passed away May 4, 2018.&nbsp;

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

He is survived by: two daughters, Janice Riley (Bob) of Phoenix, AZ and Marsha Rasdon (Gary) of Russellville, AR; two step-daughters, Lani “Lana” Bowser (Gary) of McPherson, and Darla Williams (Bradley) of McPherson; a sister, Pollee Gough (Jim) of Clovis, CA; four grandchildren, Melissa Collins, Daniel Connerly (Sarah), Bryan Connerly (Jessica), and Garren Rasdon; six step-grandchildren, Kelcey Guy (Holly), Jared Guy, Justin Guy, Shalonda McGill, Shaun Bowser (Izumi), and Cheyann Williams (fiancé, Ben Barber); 8 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and many extended family &amp; friends.

(Holt) Guy on July 31, 1993, in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; She passed away May 4, 2018.&nbsp;He was a member of First United Methodist Church, McPherson.He is survived by: two daughters, Janice Riley (Bob) of Phoenix, AZ and Marsha Rasdon (Gary) of Russellville, AR; two step-daughters, Lani “Lana” Bowser (Gary) of McPherson, and Darla Williams (Bradley) of McPherson; a sister, Pollee Gough (Jim) of Clovis, CA; four grandchildren, Melissa Collins, Daniel Connerly (Sarah), Bryan Connerly (Jessica), and Garren Rasdon; six step-grandchildren, Kelcey Guy (Holly), Jared Guy, Justin Guy, Shalonda McGill, Shaun Bowser (Izumi), and Cheyann Williams (fiancé, Ben Barber); 8 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and many extended family &amp; friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Belle and Pat; sister, Patricia Jackson; step-son, Todd Guy; and step-grandson, Cole Bradley Williams.The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 11, 2022, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Emily Spearman Cannon officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until service time, Friday, at the church.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, November 11, at Jamestown Cemetery in Jamestown.

Shari Rae (Goering) Henson was born in the McPherson Hospital on April 20, 1973, to Bryce and Irene (Shannon) Goering.&nbsp; She was the third of three children.&nbsp; She lived most of her life in McPherson except for four years in Leadville, Colorado, from the fall of 1975 to the fall of 1979.&nbsp; Shari was baptized in the First United Presbyterian Church of Leadville on June 5, 1977.&nbsp; The family returned to McPherson in 1979, and Shari attended school in the McPherson School district through her senior year, graduating from McPherson High School in 1991.&nbsp; She attended Hutchinson Junior College where she studied Office Technology.&nbsp; On March 8, 2003, she was united in marriage to Richard (Rich) Henson, and they were blessed with a daughter, Hailey Rae, who was the light of their lives.&nbsp; Over the years, Shari worked at CertainTeed Mfg., Court Trustee’s Office, McPherson Middle School, Heartland Vet Clinic, and Lincoln Elementary School.&nbsp;

Shari was a member of the First Christian Church in McPherson.

Family was very important to Shari, and she always enjoyed family get-togethers and sharing the holidays with family.&nbsp; She also loved attending all of Hailey’s sporting events, especially her softball games, and enjoyed going to programs and sporting events of her nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was especially close to her brother and sister, and their children became like her own.&nbsp; Somewhere along the way, Shari developed a green thumb and became the “plant doctor” for friends and family.&nbsp; She especially liked succulents, and the Henson home was always filled with a variety of plants.&nbsp; Shari was also well known by family and friends for giving the best hugs.

After a long and hard-fought battle with kidney cancer, Shari Rae Henson, 49, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 8:45 PM on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at her home in McPherson surrounded by family and friends.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father, Bryce Goering; her paternal grandparents, Ed and Teresa Goering, and maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Wilma Shannon, all of McPherson; one uncle, Gene Shannon of Cassoday, KS; and two aunts, Betty Norris-Madron of McPherson and Bonnie Goering of Kansas City, KS.

Survivors include her loving husband, Rich, and daughter, Hailey; her mother, Irene (Shannon) Goering; her brother, Shawn Goering and his wife, Kim; her sister, Shannon Renee Saverino-Owens and her husband, Brad; her brothers-in-law, Keith Myers, Jr. and Dean LeGron and his wife, Jara, all of McPherson; and a sister-in-law, Roberta Ann Arell of Wichita.&nbsp; There was a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She is also survived by several cousins and a special uncle, Buck Nelson.&nbsp; Shari was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.&nbsp; She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank all those who sent food, participated in fundraisers, and in general, showed their love and care in so many ways.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the First Christian Church with Pastor Abby Walker officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family asks that all attendees wear bright colors.&nbsp;&nbsp;A private scattering of the ashes will be held at a later date.
