On Thursday October 6, 2022, Karen Melita Kliewer of rural Canton, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away. She was 72 years old.

She was born to Jack and Lila (Dodge) Hatfield in Kingman, on September 19, 1950. After graduating from Kingman High School she attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson, majoring in business administration. There she met Don Kliewer of Canton. The two were married in Canton on October 24, 1969. The couple was blessed with two sons, Danny and Jack. As the boys grew up, all of the neighborhood boys simply called her "Mom". Karen enjoyed cheering on her boys during football games; she was always their biggest fan and loudest supporter in the stands. She was employed by the McPherson County Farm Service Agency for 15 years and the Hillsboro Co-op for 10 years. Karen was a member of the Canton Community Church.

Survivors include her husband Don of the home; her two sons, Danny of Wichita, and Jack and his wife Sandy of Moundridge; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends. A brother, Harlan Hatfield preceded her in death.

Barbara Pearle Sheldon, 77, died October 7, 2022, at her home.&nbsp; She was born on June 13, 1945, in Wellington, KS, the daughter of Gilbert and Idotha (Patton) Cottle. Barbara grew up on a dairy farm near South Haven and graduated from South Haven High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southwestern College in Winfield. While there, Barbara met Tom Sheldon, and they were married the day after her graduation, June 5, 1967. They shared 55 years of marriage.

Barbara earned a Master of Religious Education degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in 1969. She served as Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry at the Valley Center United Methodist Church for two years. In 1971, Barbara and Tom moved to Oxford where they lived 4 years, and added two daughters to the family.

In 1975, the Sheldon family moved to Syracuse where Tom was appointed to serve. While there, Barbara served as the church Pre-School Director for 5 years. In 1980, the family moved to Kechi and Barbara served as the Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry at University United Methodist Church in Wichita for 5 years.

In 1985, the family moved to Newton and Barbara began serving as an Associate Council Director for the Kansas West Conference.&nbsp; She served on the Conference Staff in various roles, including 4 years as Coordinator of Nurture, Outreach and Witness.&nbsp; While serving on the Conference Staff, she resourced hundreds of local churches with Christian education training events, visioning and goal setting, program planning, leadership development, staff team building, and consulting regarding matters ranging from personnel to building design.&nbsp; This ministry involved much travel over the western two-thirds of Kansas.

In 2004, Barbara served as the Interim Executive Director of Grace Med Health Clinic. She helped in selecting the new director, which turned out to be an excellent choice.&nbsp; Barbara also served as a Diaconal Minister, and then as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church.&nbsp; The family served at the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church for 6 years, Mulvane church for 10 years and Great Bend for 3 more years.&nbsp; Barbara retired in 2012, making Hutchinson her and Tom’s home.

Barbara is survived by: her husband, Tom of the home; daughters, Lori Sheldon of Haviland and Robin Reed and husband Joe of Albuquerque, NM; grandsons, Matthew Schrag, Ethan Reed, and Quinn Reed; brother, John Cottle and wife, Janice of Enid, OK; sister, Joan Orr of Sedan; foster brother, Richard Geier and wife Donna of Rose Hill; son-in-law, Steve Schrag; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marsha Cottle.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson. Ralph John Espinoza, 73, of Wichita, died October 6, 2022, at his home. He was born November 30, 1948, in Hutchinson, to Fred and Mary (Botello) Espinoza.

Ralph graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended KU. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1969. Ralph was a paint and body by trade up until he retired. In his younger years Ralph was a DJ and had a radio broadcasting license. He loved movies and music. Ralph was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wichita.

On July 27, 1970, he married Victoria Vieyra. They later divorced and she died May 29, 2002. On November 30, 1985, Ralph married Geralyn E. Duarte. She survives.

 He was born July 26, 1949 in Hillsboro to Percy and Lorene (Symes) Smith.  He married Janet Werner July 3, 1971 in Sisseton, South Dakota.  She passed away in 2016.  He married Melissa Wood July 14, 2018 at the Marion Reservoir. Velma May Trinkle, 100, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Parkwood Village. She was born on September 29, 1922 in Preston to Henry W. and Ida (Scheele) Briggeman. Velma married Merle John Trinkle on May 15, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Natrona. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2011. Velma graduated from Preston High School and had gone on to attend Pratt Junior College. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was confirmed in March of 1935 and Bethany Guild. Velma was a retired Sears Employee and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, being outside mowing and tending to her garden. She is survived by her son, Morgan (Deb) Trinkle of Preston; grandchildren, Angela Trinkle of Gainesville, Texas and Sheila (Steve) Lunsford of Preston; and great-grandsons, Tyler Jon Reimer of Preston and Dylan Merle Reimer of Pratt. Norma Lee (Parten) Bright, age 92 passed away on Oct. 5, 2022 at Legend Senior Living, Hutchinson.  She was born on Sept. 30, 1930 at Kembro, the daughter of Carl and Ruth Ione (Mann) Parten.  She was a homemaker and long- time resident of St. John. 

 Her memberships included First Baptist Church, Mothers Club, Red Hats and Hesperian Club.  On June 27, 1948 she married John Russell Bright at Beaver, he passed away on Feb. 2, 2015.  Survivors include two sons, Mike (Alicia) Bright, Napa, CA., Keith (Kathleen) Bright, Hutchinson; four daughters, Connie (Bruce) Carey, Sterling, Carol (Don) McLeod, Carthage, MO., Coette (Robert) Lewis, Wichita, Carmen (Steven) Hamilton, Northville, MI; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jan Parten, St. John.  She was preceded in death by her husband Russell; three brothers, Wayne, Kenneth and Marvin Parten. Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022 from 1-7 PM at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with family present from 5-7 PM.

Dr. Roger Ray Tobias, passed away on October 5, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Roger was born in Lyons, on June 2, 1951, to Raymond and Elma Tobias. 

He was a 1969 graduate of Lyons High School and a 1973 graduate of Kansas University School of Business before attending Kansas University School of Medicine. In 1976 he was a member of the second graduating class from the Kansas University School of Medicine-Wichita campus. Roger was a devoted husband to Debbie, married July 27, 1974, in the Danforth Chapel on the Kansas University campus in Lawrence. He was a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force, stationed at Clark Air Force Base, Philippines from 1977 to 1980. Roger and Debbie returned to Kansas to complete his Family Practice Residency at St Francis Medical Center in Wichita. Dr. Tobias then moved his young family to Lyons, and served Rice County residents for over 35 years. In 2017 he retired from a career in medicine to full-time farming south of Lyons. 

A lifelong member of the Lyons First United Methodist Church, he served as a Trustee, Lay Leader, Sunday School teacher, and Choir member. Roger served on many boards including U.S.D. 405 School Board, and the Lyons High School Endowment Association. As President of the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians, he authored “Where Have all the Doctor’s Gone?” which spearheaded a campaign establishing a program to incentivize family practice physicians choosing to live and work in rural Kansas. His most important life’s work was as Father to his three children and Grandfather to his six grandchildren. 

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Elma. He is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter Adrienne (Damon Schmadeke) of Viera, Florida; son Adam (Laura) of Tipp City, Ohio; son Aaron (Kimberly) of Clearwater; grandchildren Lana, Danica, and Derek Schmadeke, Mia Tobias, and Morgan and Caleb Tobias; sister Susie (Drew Adamson) and brother Curtis (Susan). 

Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 10, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, with Pastor Kim Shank officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Joyce Darlene Enlow, 83, of Lyons, passed away October 4, 2022, at her home. She was born June 20, 1939, in Ellsworth, the daughter of George B. and Georgia Hoffman Campbell. 

Joyce was a lifetime Lyons resident. She attended Ellsworth High School. She was a Dietary Manager at Hospital District #1 of Rice County for 43 years. Joyce enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, quilting, hunting and fishing, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. On July 6, 1954, Joyce was united in marriage with Ralph G. Enlow in Lyons. 

He preceded her in death on January 11, 2007. She is also preceded in death by her parents; ten siblings, and grandson, Shawn Enlow. Joyce is survived by her son David Enlow and wife Angie of Lyons; two sisters, Margaret Morgart of Sterling, and Velma Hart of Hutchinson; three grandchildren, Sandy Bradley and husband Jason of Wichita, KS, Amber Tafolla and husband Josh of Hutchinson, and Tiffany Groth of Hutchinson; and seven great-grandchildren. 

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 10, 2022, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Pastor Joel Grizzle officiating. The family suggests memorials be given to Birzer Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.

Lois Ferm, 94, of Lindsborg passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at home.  Lois was born January 16, 1928 in Halstead, to the late Gustav and the late Ella (Penner) Wiebe.  She married Landvis Ferm on January 18, 1947 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg and was a member throughout her life.  

Lois was confirmed at the First Mennonite Church of Halstead.  She came to Lindsborg her senior year and graduated at Lindsborg High School.  When the children were all in school, she went work as a CMA at Bethany Home.

Lois was involved in many clubs and organizations including Westside Club, American Legion Post #140 Auxiliary, Johnathan Club, card club, Jolly Mixers, and Prairie Sunbonnet Doll Club.  She was also a 4-H and Girl Scout Leader.

She is survived by daughters: Leanne Martin of Griffin, GA, and Lori Johnson of Sunrise Beach, MO; son: Lesley Ferm of Roxbury, KS; grandchildren: Jesse (Shana) Koorse, Kyrrha Martin, Jace (Lindsay) Martin, Julie (Alan) Ramsdale, Patrick Cox, Parker Johnson, and Brennan Johnson; and 8 great grandchildren.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 73 years: Landvis E. Ferm; daughters: Lana Cox and Lisa Ferm; brothers: Gustav, Carl, and John Wiebe; sister: Edna Lohr; and grandson: Michael Wheeler.

He passed away at his home in Hutchinson, October 3, 2022. Dean loved acting and directing in the stage theatre programs and chocolate ice cream. He had recently moved back from San Diego to Hutchinson to be with his family.

Steven Lee Schriner, Jr., 39, of Lindsborg, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at Ascension via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita due to complications of a car accident. He was born November 9, 1982 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Steven Lee Schriner, Sr, and Kathryn Elaine (Stier) Schriner. He graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 2001. Steven later graduated from North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit. Steven worked for Rainbow Trucking Inc. as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Steven and Anna Wagoner welcomed four children together. She survives along with their children, Sky Schriner of Lawrence, and Jayce Schriner, Baylee Schriner and Blayne Schriner of Moundridge. He is also survived by sons, Easton and Emerson; mother, Kathy Schriner of Grove, Oklahoma; father, Steven Lee Schriner Sr. of Marquette; brother, Brandon Lee Schriner of Joplin, MO; and paternal grandmother, Judy Schriner of Marquette. Steven enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to make people smile and laugh. He was considered the life of the party! Steven lived his life to the fullest and to the extreme. Above all, he loved spending his time with his kids. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Marlin Schriner; and maternal grandparents, Danny and June Stier. Ronald Lloyd Ringer 87, of Medicine Lodge, died October 4, 2022 at Hilltop Manor Nursing Center, Cunningham.

He was born on September 24, 1935 at Wichita, the son of Lloyd Ringer and Erma (Elliott) Ringer. Ron was a natural salesman and when he was five years old, living in Wichita, he loaded his wagon and walked with a wagonload of newspapers to sell to the waste paper company, well over a mile away. When Ron was six, the family moved to the farm north of Harry on Maize Road. His father gave him his first Guernsey calf and he used his tips as a caddie at Westlink Country Club to buy more cattle. The family milked Guernsey cows and sold raw milk. Ron would run his milk route before school. The family was active in the Registered Guernsey Association and had a photo taken with his boys and father, Lloyd, with J.C. Penney at the state Guernsey sale. Moving to the Cheney area, when raw milk was outlawed, he became an investor in Cream O Gold Dairy in Hutchinson and owned the Wichita distributorship running five retail delivery routes.

Ron went to work after the dairy business for S.C. Johnson &amp; Son and traveled Southwest Kansas calling on warehouses and grocery stores. It was during this time that he fell in love with the Medicine Lodge area. He was asked to open a food brokerage for a company. His son, Rodney was working for another brokerage company when they decided to open their own partnership.

After selling the company for his first retirement he was bored and purchased R&amp;R Liquor at Central &amp; Anna in Wichita. After selling that business and retiring for the second time, he was bored again and purchased Sportsman Wine &amp; Spirits in Garden Plain. After buying land in Barber County, the store was sold for a third retirement. Building a new home in Barber County he opened The Bunkhouse at Wildfire Ranch Bed &amp; Breakfast. Always being a people person the B&amp;B had guests from 47 States, 30 countries, and over 250 towns in Kansas with many becoming regular visitors and friends. He retired for the fourth time at the end of 2020.

Ronald and Charlotte were never shy about making big changes in their lives and doing things with their family while they were young. Working hard and trusting in the Lord they lived a full life together. Ronald married Charlotte (Becker) Ringer, who he met at Rock Springs 4-H Ranch, 196 miles from home, even though they lived six miles from each other. They were married 68 years.

Ron was preceded in death by father Lloyd, mother Erma (Elliott) Ringer, and brother Randal. Ron is survived by wife Charlotte, sons Roger and Rodney. Brother in Law Charles Becker, sister in law Gladys Kerschen, Aunt Shirley (Elliott) Hoppock, cousins Sheila (Bill) Roepka, Mark Davis, Marilyn (Elliott) Ralph Snook, Royce (Penny) Elliott, Jill (Gossard) Jeff Foster, Sue (Gossard) Miller, Mike (Polly) Hoppock, and Doug (Nancy) Hoppock.

Rosary service will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge, on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte, KS on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11am. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery Schulte.

Linda A. Buss, 69, died Oct. 5, 2022 at her home in Spivey, Kansas.

She was born Dec. 23, 1952, at Wichita the daughter of Jacob and Elva Keller Lorenz, Jr.&nbsp; A Spivey resident since 1998, she retired from the weapons maintenance in the Kansas Air National Guard.

On Dec. 30, 1982, she married Michael Buss at Wichita.&nbsp; Other survivors include a step-daughter Ruth A. Talavera; and a brother Max Lorenz.

Family graveside services will take place in the Nelson Cemetery, Cloud County.

Jr passed away on October 3, 2022 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center at the age of 86.&nbsp; He was born on June 19, 1936 in Wichita, the youngest of three children to Leslie Angel Sr. and Delphia (Daniels) Honemann.&nbsp; He also had three step brothers and 1 step sister.&nbsp; Jr married the love of his life, Viola on December 24, 1968 in Miami, OK.&nbsp; They spent 55 incredible years together until her passing in March of this year.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; They were blessed with seven children; Rocky Angel, Jean Angel (Rocket Ryals), Jeffrey Angel, Melinda Webb (Jack), Randy Jenkins (Janet), Felecia Danielski (Don) and Marty Otto.&nbsp; They have 11 grandsons and 9 granddaughters as well as numerous great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Jr and Vi were owner operators of Jr Angel Construction Company.&nbsp; They did all the concrete work and built numerous metal buildings throughout the central United States.&nbsp; In his retirement years he worked just as hard building houses and garages on the land he owned for over 55 years.&nbsp; He loved to fish, hunt, garden, drive racecars and mostly spend time with friends and family. &nbsp;He never met a stranger.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his wife Viola; his parents, Leslie Angel and Delphia Honemann; brothers, Gene and Marty Angel; sister, Lea Angel; children, Jeffrey Angel and Rocky Angel.

Barbara was born on October 31, 1929, to William Washington Burris and Lois Hunt. She spent her childhood in the College Hill area of Wichita. After graduating from Wichita East High School, she attended Stephens Girls College and Kansas State University.&nbsp;

She married Charles Roberts on April 6, 1951, in Dodge City. They had two children, David Eric and Anna Jane.&nbsp;

Barbara had many adversities to overcome in her life, but also many adventures. She traveled a great deal, fostering relationships with wonderful people around the world. She also volunteered extensively, helping in schools, universities, hospitals, and churches.&nbsp;

Barbara is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Estes Eugene Robinson, 76, died October 3, 2022, at his home. He was born August 22, 1946, in Tribbey, Oklahoma, to Calvin and Beulah (Baker) Robinson.&nbsp;

Estes attended Roosevelt High School in Oklahoma before enlisting in the United States Army. Following his service, he worked as a ranch hand, jockey, and in the meat packing industry for Yoder Meats, Winchester, Cal-Maine, and Tyson, where he retired. Estes belonged to the American Dairy Goat Association and the Miniature Horse Association.

On January 22, 1972, he married Virginia Ann Shea, in Hutchinson. They shared 50 years together.&nbsp;

Estes is survived by: his wife, Virginia Robinson, Hutchinson; daughters, Lisa Price (Terry), Watts, Oklahoma; Lynn Gomez (Jose), Hutchinson; Carrie Colpetzer (Max), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Ashlyn (Buck), Ember (Cody), Ashlee (Robby), Jadyn (Dominick), Stephy, Rylan, Alexis; great-grandchildren, Alice, Harvey, Harlie, Terrek; and brother, Johnny Robinson, Hobart, Oklahoma, and so many nieces and nephews

Estes Eugene Robinson, 76, died October 3, 2022, at his home. He was born August 22, 1946, in Tribbey, Oklahoma, to Calvin and Beulah (Baker) Robinson.&nbsp;Estes attended Roosevelt High School in Oklahoma before enlisting in the United States Army. Following his service, he worked as a ranch hand, jockey, and in the meat packing industry for Yoder Meats, Winchester, Cal-Maine, and Tyson, where he retired. Estes belonged to the American Dairy Goat Association and the Miniature Horse Association.On January 22, 1972, he married Virginia Ann Shea, in Hutchinson. David Earl Harding passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2022 after battling prostate cancer. David was born in Isabel, to Earl Everett Harding and Margaret (Thompson) Harding on September 4, 1940. He grew up working on the family farm, hunting and fishing, participating in Scouts, and playing sports. He graduated from Isabel High School in 1958 and attended Pratt Junior College in Pratt, on a basketball scholarship, continuing his education at Kansas State University and Fort Hays State while working to put himself through school. David was recruited to the Kansas Highway Patrol in 1962 as one of the youngest troopers ever hired in the state. His patrol territories included Hutchison, Russell, and Hays, where his specialties were nabbing DUIs, car chases, and recovering stolen vehicles. David was introduced to Doris A. Jorns on a blind date in 1963 and they married later that year in August, 1963. A son, Reece, was born in 1966, David’s own “Little Trooper” who eventually grew up to serve on the Wichita city police force. David began a more than 30-year career with Farmers Insurance Group (FIG) in 1968 as a Claims Adjuster in Wichita. While living in Wichita, a daughter, Ann Marie, was born in 1971. Much like her father, she was in a hurry to arrive, and they almost didn’t make it to the hospital in time. In 1976, David accepted a promotion from FIG and moved the family to Denver, Colorado, and soon thereafter to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he worked as a Regional Budget Manager. In 1984, he was promoted to Branch Claims Manager in the Moore, Oklahoma FIG office. While in Moore, he also served as the FIG Liability Manager for the state of Oklahoma, tasked with managing a $500 million budget and supervising a team of over 100 employees. David retired from Farmers Insurance Group in 2003. In retirement, David enjoyed working on old cars, especially his 1949 Ford, taking care of his lawn and garden, eating out and grilling at home, watching football games, fishing, traveling to see his grandchildren- of whom he was always very proud! - and spending time with family and friends. David is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Margaret. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris, his son Reece Harding, daughter Ann Ashmon, son-in-law Scott Ashmon, grandchildren Gunnar and Elsa Ashmon, and his siblings Evelyn (Jack) Jessup, Shirley (Joe) Wood, Vicki (Dennis) Chinn, and Vernon (Mary Lou) Harding, as well as several nieces and nephews. Peggy married John "Jay" Hightower in 1949 in Lindsay, Oklahama. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1977. In 1981, she then married Billy Smith in Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2010. Peggy graduated from Lindsay High School in 1950. She worked in the cafeteria at Andover High School and then became an insurance agent with State Farm in Wichita. She enjoyed playing dominoes, cards and bingo, going to the casino and shopping. She is survived by her children, Sherrie (Johnny) Mitchell of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Toni (Terry) McNabb of Kansas City, Missouri; Sandy (Steve) Frahm of Ashland, Nebraska; Karen (Dwayne Rosenbaum) Householter of Pratt; and Lisa (Jen Fuller) Bergrud of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Mariko (Chris) Geffert, Nicole (Ryan) Jones, Shauntel (Chad) Minks, April (Jacob) Israel, Brian (Amy) Frahm, Andy (Anna) Frahm, Kristin (Adam) Johnson, Michael Frahm, Ashley Householter, Erika Householter, Meagan Householter and Luke Bergrud; and 18 great grandchildren with another on the way. James E. Huddleston, 86, died on October 2, 2022, in Sedgwick, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 3, 1936, the son of Jess and Della (Pittman) Huddleston.

On January 6, 1957, James married Sylvia Karen Ann Wilson. They later divorced and James remarried.

James joined the United States Marine Corp on September 2, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. He would quickly climb the ranks and become Corporal. During his service he was stationed overseas in Okinawa and Iwo Jima Japan, during the Korean War.

James enjoyed fishing, camping and horseback riding. He coached his daughters in softball.

James was an independent paint contractor. Later he worked for Boeing. He retired from Boeing at 59 years of age. He went to work at the Best Western Airport Hotel and retired a second time, after 18 years.

James is survived by his daughters, Connie Stout and Cindy Martindale. He had 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great greatgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by both of his wives, his brother, Harold and his parents.

Following James’ wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held shortly at the American Legion in Sedgwick. His ashes will be strewn out over the Walnut River at his favorite place.

Joshua Aaron Ribble, 42, died on September 30, 2022, at NMCHealth in Newton.

He was born on April 1, 1980, in Belleville, IL, the son of Dale and Caroline (Foat) Ribble. He attended Newton Bible Christian School, Berean Academy and Parkview Christian School in Lincoln, NE, where he graduated from with the class of 1998. Josh would later attend Butler Community College.

On June 17, 2000, Josh was united in marriage to Jaci Smith in Newton. The couple celebrated 22 years of marriage this year.

For the past 15 years Josh was employed as grind shop lead at Harlow Aerostructures in Wichita.

Josh attended the Newton Christian Church in Newton. For several years Josh and Jaci lovingly opened their home and fostered children.

Josh enjoyed attending Chloe and Caity’s dance recitals and taking recital videos. Josh loved photography and had a gift for capturing beautiful scenes – though his favorite photos usually involved his family. When he wasn’t creating videos or taking photos you could find him playing computer games with his girls or fixing computers.

Josh is survived by his wife, Jaci Ribble; daughters, Chloe and Caity Ribble; parents, Dale and Caroline (Foat) Ribble; brothers, Jon Ribble and Dan Ribble; sisters, Raychel Hurdle and Beth Ann Bennett; and numerous other friends and family members.

Patricia S. “Pat” Scheck, age 82, passed away October 2, 2022 at Diversicare of Sedgwick, Sedgwick.  She was born on July 26, 1940 at Anthony, the daughter of Grant E. and Maxine D. (Frank) Martin. 

 Pat was a resident at Diversicare of Sedgwick, having recently relocated from Legend of Hutchinson.  She was formerly a resident of Macksville, from 1961 to 2019.  She was a 1958 graduate of Attica High School and then attended one year at Pratt Community Junior College.  She worked several jobs over the years, including as a waitress at the Char-Burg in Pratt, a homemaker, a bookkeeper for A &amp; S Repair in Macksville, a librarian at the Macksville City Library, a CNA at Leisure Homestead in St. John, and a salesclerk at ALCO in Larned.  She retired in 2005. 

 On November 28, 1959 she married Linus F. Scheck at Pratt.  He preceded her in death on May 20, 2019.  Her memberships included, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and Altar Society, Belpre.  She enjoyed reading books, scrapbooking, counted cross-stitching, latch-hooking, playing the piano, and loved playing cards. 

 Survivors include three sons, John L. Scheck, Wichita, Jeffery J. Scheck (Angela), Belpre, Jay A. Scheck, Great Bend; a daughter, Julie K. Scheck (Bernadette Romero), Wichita; a brother, Robert Martin (Mary), Eureka; a sister, Joyce Thomas, Hennessey, OK; two grandchildren, Andrew Scheck (Kate) and Cody Rosenhamer (Reagan); three great-grandchildren, Jacelyn Scheck, Kole Scheck, and Kylee Scheck; and one great-grandchild on the way.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wallace Martin; and a brother-in-law, Eldon Thomas.

Carol attended Sullivan grade schools, elementary school and graduated from Sullivan High School, Sullivan, Indiana in 1956. Through the years carol worked for Sandstone Heights in Little River. Carol enjoyed her birds and deer, dogs, cats, all her farm animals, puzzles, cooking, crocheting and spending time with friends and family. Carol S. Godfrey was united in marriage to James A. Teeter on June 3, 1995 at their home in rural Marquette. She is survived by her son, Mike Teeter, of Marquette; her sister Betty Peach. Margaret Ann Darrah Sheets, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Cedars House, McPherson.

Margaret, daughter of Andrew J. and Lydia (Prosser) Darrah, was born on July 27, 1929, in the McPherson Hospital and lived her entire life in McPherson. She attended the McPherson public schools and McPherson College, where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education. She enjoyed her two years of teaching at the Groveland School and one year at Mitchell School. She was a lifetime member of the Congregational Church.

Margaret met her husband, William J “Bill” Sheets, in 7th grade, when they both played clarinet in the school band. From then on they were inseparable and married on August 12, 1950, in the Congregational Church, McPherson. There were two children born of this marriage, John “Brent” born January 31, 1952, and Mary Margaret born March 4, 1954. She became a stay-at-home mom, but was also active in PTA, Congregational Sunday School, 20th Century, Progressive Literature, Domestic Art, Chapter EU of PEO, and was a life member of Hospital Auxiliary. 

Margaret spent several years volunteering at her children’s school as Room Mother, as well as Den Mother for the Scouts. A friend asked if she and Bill would open her home for a student of the Experiment in International Living. They agreed and this experience led to an interesting lifelong friendship with a student from Thailand. Wipapan quickly became a much loved member of the family and is still keeping contact with her “American family”. They also hosted another group from Mexico.

Margaret was able to give her mother much attention while Lydia lived at the Friends Inn in downtown McPherson and later when she entered the Cedars Care Home on East Kansas. She went daily to the Cedars to give her mother help and saw the need for such a facility. This led her to become an active member on the Cedars Board where she served for a number of years.

After that, she and Bill enjoyed many traveling experiences and spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her flowers and gardening, her dogs, and spending time with her friends and family. After she lost her eye sight, she loved listening to her audio books and music. She was able to cope with several health issues, including diabetes and loss of eye sight, which later required she and Bill moving to the Cedars Assisted Living. After Bills passing she transferred to the Cedars Health Care and she established many friendships with fellow residents while living there.

Margaret passed peacefully under the care of Kindred Hospice at Cedars Health Care, 805 N Maxwell, McPherson. She is survived by her son Brent and daughter-in-law Debbie Sheets of McPherson; her daughter Mary and son-in-law Brad Spilman of Shawnee. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kim Veer (Matt) Melville, SK Canada; Timothy “T.J.” Dearing (Lindsay) McPherson; Tommy Dearing (Amie) Maryville, TN; Chad Spilman (Alisa) Littleton, CO; Andy Spilman (Sophia) Blanchard, OK; Allison Wade (Vince) Overland Park; and fourteen great grandchildren, Garrett and Kendall (Veer), Trace and Teague (Dearing), Jacqueline and Olivia (Dearing), Jake, Braeden, Caleb and Olivia (Spilman), Sam, Addie and Ellla (Spilman), and Lydia (Wade).

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill Sheets; and her sister, Mary Jane Ashen-Brenner.

A Religious Service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 at First Christian Church (DOC) in McPherson, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating. The family asks that you please join them following the service for a meal at the church.

Margaret Ann Darrah Sheets, of McPherson, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Cedars House, McPherson. Margaret, daughter of Andrew J. and Lydia (Prosser) Darrah, was born on July 27, 1929, in the McPherson Hospital and lived her entire life in McPherson. She attended the McPherson public schools and McPherson College, where she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education. She enjoyed her two years of teaching at the Groveland School and one year at Mitchell School. She was a lifetime member of the Congregational Church. Margaret met her husband, William J “Bill” Sheets, in 7th grade, when they both played clarinet in the school band. From then on they were inseparable and married on August 12, 1950, in the Congregational Church, McPherson. There were two children born of this marriage, John “Brent” born January 31, 1952, and Mary Margaret born March 4, 1954. She became a stay-at-home mom, but was also active in PTA, Congregational Sunday School, 20th Century, Progressive Literature, Domestic Art, Chapter EU of PEO, and was a life member of Hospital Auxiliary. Margaret spent several years volunteering at her children’s school as Room Mother, as well as Den Mother for the Scouts. A friend asked if she and Bill would open her home for a student of the Experiment in International Living. Roger Maris Loesch was born Dec. 2, 1960 at Coldwater. His parents were Jack A. Loesch and Margaret Ann (Maris) Loesch. She preceded him in death. 

Roger's early childhood was spent in Protection, then later in Munjor. He attended Munjor Grade School and graduated from Thomas More Prep in Hays.

 Roger had a love of the great outdoors, animals and books. He also loved his husky, Dakota.  He had many jobs throughout his life and they were usually outdoors. Since early childhood, Roger was a seeker of knowledge. Even though he loved the internet, he still preferred his books. 

Roger is survived by his father; stepmother; two sisters; his children; grandchildren; aunts; uncles and many cousins.
