Robert E. Smalley 96, died July 10, 2023 at his Newton residence. He was born July 27, 1926 in Newton, Kansas to Eugene O and Abbie (Powell) Smalley. He married Carroll Royston at First United Methodist Church in Newton and she preceded him in death on December 1, 2018.
Robert was a long time active member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton. He owned and operated Smalley's T.V. and Maritime repair as well as selling real estate through Smalley Realty. He served his country in WWII in the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his daughter Susan (Leon) Scott; sons mike (Kendra) Smalley and David (Barbara) Smalley; one brother Norman (Barbara) Smalley. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Jeff Smalley and one brother Jack Smalley
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in Newton with The Reverend Kim Andrews officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday July 16, 2023 at Petersen Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Newton.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or First United Methodist Church and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
