
Patricia A. Johnson, 84, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, surrounded by family at the McPherson Hospital. Patty was born on November 28, 1938, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of Elmer C.L. and Elizabeth Fern Martinson.
She graduated from McPherson High School in 1956 and Brown Mackie Business College in Salina, KS. On December 15, 1957, Patty was united in marriage to John LeRay Johnson at the New Gottland Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children, Jeff, Jackie, and Jerri.
Patty worked at Farmers Alliance, the McPherson County Appraiser’s Office, McPherson County Abstract, and was the office manager for the family business, Johnson Electric.
She was a member of New Gottland Covenant Church where she was a former church organist, a Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School volunteer. She belonged to Covenant Women’s Group and was a longstanding member for almost 60 years in Happy Homemakers FCE. She was a leader in the Empire 4-H Club and active member of a local Multiple Sclerosis support group.
Survivors include: her loving husband of 65 years, John LeRay Johnson; three children, Jeff (Karolyn) Johnson of McPherson, KS, Jackie (Charlie) Phillips of Enterprise, KS, and Jerri (Brian) Mackey of Bel Aire, KS; eight grandchildren, Nick (Liz) Johnson, Rebekah (Ransom) Hawthorne, Sarah (Tim) Willis, Cassie (Trevor) Kolinski, Callie (T.J.) Bell, Carlie (Adam) Huser, Allison (Dillon) Flood, and Austin (Maggie) Mackey; 11 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer & Fern Martinson, and two brothers, Donald Eugene Martinson and Bill “Meatball” D. Martinson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 14, at New Gottland Covenant Church with Pastor Daniel Parry officiating. Burial will follow at New Gottland Lutheran Cemetery.
