Kelly Joe Minerd, 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 1, 2023. He was born in Ransom, Kansas on January 20, 1956 to Don E. and Margaret (Jarrell) Minerd. The family lived in Ness City, Kansas until he was 7, then moved to Wichita in 1963. He attended Valley Center schools, graduating in 1974. While in High School he was an outstanding basketball player and held the high scoring record for 30 years.
He worked for the Wichita Public School District 259 for 31 years before retiring. He was the Building Maintenance Supervisor at East High School. He was an animal lover, enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. His greatest love was his family and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Margaret, his brothers Michael Minerd and Kevin Minerd.
Kelly is survived by his son Cole, daughter Lindsey, sister Kathy Mertins, brother Patrick, 9 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 14th at Baker Funeral Home, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, Kansas. Memorials may be designated in Kelly's memory to the Union Rescue Mission, 2800 N. Hillside, Wichita, Ks 67219-4702.
