Sarah Frances Burris, 89, passed away August 15, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born February 3, 1934, in Heard County, GA, to Joe W. and Fannie Lou (Folds) Thaxton.

Sarah married John J. Meadows on May 27, 1955, in Arizona. &nbsp;He passed away on May 20, 1963. &nbsp;On July 27, 1971, Sarah married Earl V. Burris, Sr. in Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;He passed away on August 24, 2014.

Sarah and husband Earl were co-owners of Standard Press, Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was a registered nurse at Grace Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital, currently Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, retiring in June 1997 with 35 years of service. &nbsp;After retirement, Sarah volunteered at the American Red Cross.

She is survived by: her children, Mark (June) Meadows of Douglas, KS, John (Diane) Meadows of Yoder, KS, Debbie (David) Trotter of Hutchinson, KS, and Larry (Marcia) Meadows of South Hutchinson, KS; stepchildren, Earl V. Burris, Jr. of Texas, Tom Burris of Nickerson, KS, and Pam Holderness of Springfield, MO; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sarah was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; husbands; grandson, Corey Meadows; siblings, Tommy Lou Murphy, Ethel Veal, Ruth Steele, Rebecca Pope, and Joe Thaxton. &nbsp;

Ronald Guy “Ron” Salyer, 88, died August 14, 2023, at his home. &nbsp;He was born August 27, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Dr. Guy and Vera (Hickman) Salyer.

Ron graduated from Menomonie High School, Menomonie, WI, and received his Bachelor of Political Science from the University of Kansas. &nbsp;On October 9, 1959, he married Marilyn Peer, in San Diego, CA. &nbsp;

Ron retired after 20 years of service as an Intelligence Officer in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He then worked as an independent investment broker at Salyer Financial Services in Great Bend, Kansas, where he proudly served on the city council. In 2006, Ron and his wife, Marilyn, moved to Hutchinson where he volunteered with the Reno County Sheriff Senior Patrol Program and the Kansas Cosmosphere. &nbsp;In addition, he was a member of the Hutchinson Civitan Club, Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Doers Sunday School Class. &nbsp;

Ron is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 64 years, Marilyn; children, Matt Salyer (Teri) and Jennifer Showers (Mickey); grandchildren, Gage and Garrett Salyer, Serin Blowers (Aaron), Lauren Showers, and Madilyn Showers; brothers-in-law, Dr. Gary Peer (Beverly) and Carl Peer (Patricia); and sister-in-law, Karen Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Garth Kennedy.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. &nbsp;Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Clara Helmuth Miller, 92, went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS. &nbsp;She was born on April 20, 1931, near Hutchinson, KS, the fourth of ten children, to John and Fannie (Bontrager) Helmuth.

On April 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ira Miller in rural Hutchinson, KS. They shared 60 years of marriage until Ira‘s death on October 14, 2010. Soon after beginning their family, they moved to Mountain View, AR, to assist in a church plant. In February 1958, they moved their family to Iowa City, IA to help Grandpa Miller with his dairy farm. After the dairy farm was sold in 1964, they moved their family back to the Hutchinson area.&nbsp;

Clara realized the need to teach children the way of salvation, so in the 1970’s she began a Busy Bee Bible Club in her home for elementary age children. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for a number of years. Clara was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, KS.

Her favorite hobby was making quilts. Clara made a quilt for each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild. &nbsp;She made a variety of quilts, whole cloth, appliqué, pieced or embroidered. Clara enjoyed her sewing circle as long as her eyesight allowed.&nbsp;

Zuba Ellen Palmer, 84, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson, KS. She was born October 7, 1938 in Moore, Oklahoma to Glen Sr. and Velma (Neally) Moler.

On October 3, 1956, Zuba married Arthur E. Palmer. They shared 45 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing on April 30, 2001. Zuba was a homemaker and thoroughly enjoyed reading books in her spare time. She later went on to enjoy watching television series’ like Blue Bloods, and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

She is preceded by her parents, Glen Sr. and Velma; two daughters, Laura Palmer-Crouse and Terry Witt; two sons, George “Mike” Palmer and Charles Palmer; two grandsons, Christopher Spivey and Andrew Witt; and 4 siblings.

Zuba is survived by her sons, Glen Palmer and Martin Palmer; grandchildren, Meeka Palmer-Lummus and husband Robert, Miranda Palmer and husband John Rex, Matthew Crouse and wife Tanya, Krystal Duerksen and husband Derrek, Rachel Palmer, plus 6 more; 8 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Per Zuba’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Westview Baptist Church, 1325 S. Mary Katherine (Wickstrom) Nolan, 102, of Marquette, KS, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, &nbsp;in Marquette.

Mary was born on August 26, 1920, in Conway, KS, the daughter of E. Birdette and Grace B. (Hollingsworth) Wickstrom.&nbsp; She graduated from Marquette High School and Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, MO.&nbsp;

Mary was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1968.&nbsp; She joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1945.&nbsp; She served as a nurse at several Air Force hospitals and was Director of Nursing at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi.&nbsp;

On March 9, 1969, Mary was united in marriage to Alson V. Nolan, Jr.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on December 8, 2000.

Survivors include: a niece, Cynthia (Mike) Hulse of Marquette, KS; nephews, Todd Parkhill of Los Angeles, CA and Clif Parkhill, Jr. of Oxnard, CA; great-nephews, Brandon Hulse of Marquette, KS, Lance Hulse of Tipton, KS, and Matthew (Diane) Wickstrom of Marquette, KS; great-great-niece, Kimber Grace Wickstrom; great-great-nephew, John David Wickstrom; step-son, Alson Nolan, III of Mesquite, TX; step-grandsons, Jeffery (Lea) Nolan of Fairview, TX and Michael Patrick Nolan of Allen, TX; step-great-grandson, Parker Scott (Olivia) Nolan of Anna, TX; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother &amp; sister-in-law, Bertis &amp; Joan Wickstrom; sister &amp; brother-in-law, Eileen &amp; C.A. Parkhill; and nephews, Eric Lyle Parkhill and David Wickstrom &amp; wife, Peggy.

Deborah Jo Martin passed away August 8, 2023, in Hutchinson, KS.

Debbie was born to Windell Fallis Sr and Eunice Fallis (Baxter) June 10, 1963.

She is survived by her son, Cody Martin of Hutchinson, brother, Windell Fallis Jr. of Salina, Sisters, Tammy (Kevin) Rowse &nbsp;of Wichita, and Lynn (Tim) Dewbre of Pampa, Texas.&nbsp;

Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Windell Fallis Sr, and grandparents, Berwyn and Grace (Phillips) Baxter.&nbsp;

Debbie spent her days painting, or spending time with family and friends, lounging at home. She was a member of the Union Valley Bible Church.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 17th, at Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N Main St, Hutchinson, KS, starting at 10:00. Graveside services will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park.&nbsp;

Jeannine Ann Rayl, 92, died August 12, 2023, surrounded by her family, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born October 31, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Hal C. and Anna (Magyar) Nelson.

Jeannine graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947, and received her nursing degree from Hutchinson Community Junior College. &nbsp;She was one of the first two married women who were admitted to nursing school. For over 45 years, Jeannine worked as a registered nurse, retiring on her 85th birthday. &nbsp;From taking care of patients to teaching nursing students and nursing classes, Jeannine made an impact on everyone with her knowledge, compassion and extraordinary beauty, both on the inside and outside. &nbsp;In 2014, she was inducted into the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System Nursing Hall of Fame. &nbsp;

Jeannine always made time for fun whether it was cooking, fishing, playing bridge, traveling, or taking vacations. &nbsp;She was an avid golfer and played in numerous golf tournaments. Jeannine was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter D and Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, where she served on numerous committees. &nbsp;She was an amazing nurse, but she always put her family first. &nbsp;Jeannine excelled as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. &nbsp;

Jeannine is survived by: &nbsp;her children, Curtis Sanders (Diane) of Hutchinson, Susan Haines (Fred), and Julie Ross (Robb), all of Sterling; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Reichert, Jillian Miller (Kevin), Luke Haines (Julisa), Jake Haines (Ashlee), Alex Haines (Amber), Riley Ross (Mindy), Katie Schoenhoff (Mason), and Kari Wilkie (Dennis); 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Jeannette Wyatt of Sun City, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stuart Sanders; and her first husband, Stan Sanders; and her second husband, Willie Rayl.&nbsp;

She was a faithful longtime member of Eastwood Church of Christ.&nbsp;

On December 31, 1955, Marge married John K Loewen in Moundridge. They had 66 years together prior to John sadly passing away on October 25, 2022.

Marge is survived by: her three daughters, Debbie Wilson of Hutchinson, Diane Farney (Rudy) of Hutchinson, Donna McCoy (Kent) of Granby, CO; grandchildren, Brian Wilson, Jeni Perko (Jack), Ami Ratzlaff (Tanner), Julie McNeil (Brett) and Megan DeCorte (Chris); 15 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Darrel Bender.&nbsp;

Lew was born on March 2, 1945, in McPherson, KS, the son of Henry Russell and Lenora Geneva (Unruh) Koehn.&nbsp; He graduated from Canton-Galva High School.&nbsp; On September 12, 1966, Lew was united in marriage to Linda Sue Brack in Canton, KS.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two children, Laura and Larry.

He worked at Hay &amp; Forage (AGCO) in Hesston as an assembler.&nbsp; He also was a truck driver for Graves Truck Line.

Survivors include: his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Linda; a daughter, Laura (Marty) Peterson of McPherson, KS; a son, Larry (Misty) Koehn of Moundridge, KS; a brother, Lynn (Vickie) Koehn of Grafton, ND; a sister, Avenell Hines of Galva, KS; five grandchildren, Tony (Stephanie) Peterson, Heather (Nick) Dubois, Zach (Amanda) Peterson, Cody Armstrong, and Andrew Armstrong; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces &amp; nephews and extended family.

Jim D. Schroeder, 72, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Pine Village. He was born September 9, 1950 at Goessel, Kansas, to Richard D. and Olga (Dalke) Schroeder.

He grew up in the Newton and Moundridge areas, graduating from Moundridge High School with the class of 1968.

Jim was a member of the Moundridge United Methodist Church. He was baptized at the Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.

On October 15, 1977, he married Helen Gehring of Moundridge. They made their home of over 45 years east of Moundridge. After 5 years of marriage, they learned they were going to add to their family, but it wasn’t to be, as they lost their son, Jordan, after 7 months of pregnancy. A year later, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kali, who quickly became a Daddy’s Girl. Three years later, they were blessed again by the birth of their son, Cole, who shared a love of hunting and fishing with his daddy.

Jim worked for Action Equipment, and then MJ’s Truck Repair, until retirement in September of 2020. He served as Treasurer on the fire board, Rural Fire District 7 for over 20 years.

Jim enjoyed a lifetime of his favorite hobbies including working on the farm, hunting, fishing, target shooting, and clay rock shooting with his friends and family. Making his grandkids chocolate milkshakes was always his favorite Grandpa duty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jordan; a granddaughter, Abigail Jantz; and his mother-in-law, Beulah Gehring.

Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the home; daughter, Kali (Brad) Jantz of Moundridge; son, Cole (Annie) Schroeder of Farmington, MN; and three grandchildren, Haylee and Trey Jantz, and Madison Schroeder; sister, Peggy (Bob) Fugit of Andover; brother, Russell (Yvonne) Schroeder of Newton; and numerous relatives and friends.

Being a very hard worker, he went into construction and driving Semis to owning his own Fleet of Trucks. He and his late wife Eleanor worked together running the company for many years.&nbsp; In 1953, Roy at St. Louis, Missouri entered the United States Navy, where he served until 1957.&nbsp; He had a great heart, mind and honor in his service to his Nation.&nbsp;

He met and married the love of his life, Eleanor Mae Williams, on July 15, 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him on December 5, 2020. They enjoyed 43 yrs together which involved their business, traveling together, going to church, and the greatest love was spending time with family.

Roy is survived by his son Joey Williams, daughters Glenda Inman, Tammy Williams and Debbie O'Brian, grandchildren Jessica, Ethan, Jordan, Kevin, Kayce, Timmy, Bobby, and Shawn, all of Pilot Grove, Missouri; stepson Gary &amp; Melva Geortz of Valley Center, step grandchildren Jacki &amp; Terry Walkins of Murdock, Tyleigh &amp; Christopher Mattison of Hutchinson; brothers Robert 'Bob' Williams of Grain Valley, MO and Ken Williams of Broken Arrow, OK; many other family and friends.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, his parents John and Mary, brothers John, Wilbur, William, Darrell, Roger and his sister Mary, stepdaughter Jeanne Mitchell and granddaughter Sasha Skaggs.&nbsp;

Julia Campbell, 84, of McPherson, Kansas passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 while in the company of family and friends at Cedars.

Julia Mae Campbell, the daughter of Ernest W. and Opal Marie (Mickey) Bowman, was born on May 11, 1939 in Junction City, Kansas. She was one of three children born to this union; Helen, Julia and Orville.

Julia attended school in White City, Junction City and Manhattan. There she met Verlin Campbell and they were married on March 14, 1959 in the First United Methodist Church of Manhattan, Kansas.

They made their home in Manhattan while Verlin completed school at Kansas State University. The young couple then moved to Texas with their first of two children, a son Laurie, followed later by a daughter Justina (Kay). After numerous moves across Texas, the family returned to McPherson so Verlin could help work the family farm with his father and uncle.

Julia was a homemaker and seamstress, raising Laurie and Kay, making many of their clothes and perfecting her cooking skills. Through the years Julia worked for a local tax firm, the courthouse, Alliance Life and finally before retiring from Bank of America. Over the years of her sewing, her passion became quilting. She looked forward to going on bus trips out of state with friends in search of new material for that next quilt. Julia’s second passion was her cats. First was Buttons, then later she brought Buffy into the home. She and Verlin were avid square dancers for several years, and she loved going camping or fishing.

Julia is survived by her husband, Verlin of the home; her son, Laurie Campbell of McPherson, Kansas; her daughter Justina (Kay) Campbell of Hoyt, Kansas; as well as nieces and nephews.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen (Bowman) Knight and brother, Orville.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Monday, August 14, 2023 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Chapel.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

Kenneth D. Armbrust, 92, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.&nbsp; He was an electrician, working at Cessna in Hutchinson and Johns Manville in McPherson.

Kenneth was born on July 26, 1931, in Claflin, KS, the son of William Henry and Wilhelmina Julianna (Lubinus) Armbrust.&nbsp; He graduated from Claflin High School in 1949 and attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; On November 10, 1953, Ken was united in marriage to Maxine Sallee in St. John, KS.&nbsp; They were married for 68 years prior to her passing on December 5, 2021.&nbsp;

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Church.&nbsp; He was a longtime Red Cross volunteer, a Scoutmaster, and a volunteer fireman.

Survivors include: a son, Jim Armbrust (Gerry) of McPherson, KS; two daughters, Patty Armbrust of Wichita, KS and Cindy Ledbetter (Charles) of Mustang, OK; a brother, Bob Armbrust (Barbara) of Hutchinson, KS; sisters-in-law, Kay Armbrust-Feist of Arkansas, City, KS and Roberta Sallee of South Hutchinson, KS; nine grandchildren, Jenny Epp, Kenny Armbrust, Angie Carbajal (Raul), Chris Ledbetter (Haley), Matthew Ledbetter (Jessica), Heather Ledbetter, Gill Ledbetter, Derek Borth (Claudia), and Jessica Morrell (Troy); and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Ron Armbrust; son, Kirby Armbrust; and grandson, Charlie Ledbetter.

In 1954, Donna graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont, KS. &nbsp;She was the owner and operator of the ‘B Beautiful Salon,’ retiring with many years of service. &nbsp;Donna was loved by everyone.

She married George King in 1954 in Dennis, KS, and together they had two sons. &nbsp;In 1998, Donna married Randolph ‘Ranny’ Anderson.

Donna is survived by: &nbsp;her husband, Ranny Anderson of Hutchinson; sons, Richard King and Ronald (Brenda) King, both of Hutchinson, KS; grandson Ryan (Grace) King of Hutchinson, KS; granddaughter, Amanda (Mathieu) Graber of Wichita; stepsons, Roy (Dawnell) Anderson of Hutchinson, KS, and Kyle Anderson of Wichita, KS; nephew Steve (Donna) Standley of Wichita, KS; a great-nephew; a great-niece; and numerous great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Donna Louise Anderson |1936-2023|

Douglas Duane “Doug” Cook, of Hutchinson, Kansas, died peacefully on June 27, 2023. Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and friend who will be missed by many. &nbsp;He was born in a stone house in Carneiro, Kansas in 1932, and moved to Hutchinson when he was 10 years old. In the interim, his family moved to Oatman, Arizona where his father worked in a gold mine for four years during the Depression.&nbsp;

Doug met his best friend and the love of his life, Carol Lee Herr, from Great Bend, at a bar in Hutchinson in 1952. They married soon after and had two daughters, Melinda and Kim. Their lives in Hutchinson were extremely full, thanks to the many friendships they had over the more than 70 years they called it home together. From Friday night dinners at The Anchor Inn, quarter games of pool, working every September at the Kansas State Fair, and to countless moments with friends in between, Doug and Carol thoroughly enjoyed each other and others loved to be in their presence.&nbsp;

Doug loved cars, trucks, motorcycles, go-karts, tractors and anything else with an engine. He bought his first car at age 16, and then had to learn to drive it. &nbsp;Doug was a member of the Prairie Pups Motorcycle Club for many years, participating in Motocross and some wonderful road trips with his friends. Carol accompanied him on some of those trips, including a 2-week motorcycle trip through Mexico in 1974. Neither Doug nor Carol spoke a word of Spanish, but they somehow managed to get their motorcycle repaired when it broke down and were able to make their way back to Hutchinson.&nbsp;

Work was important to Doug, and he inspired many others with his work ethic. He was proud to report that he had held 24 jobs in his life, starting with delivering prescriptions on his bicycle for the Peter Rabbit Delivery Service in Hutchinson at age 10. Doug eventually joined Lowen Corporation where he worked for 53 years, including several years as Senior VP. &nbsp; He felt blessed by the many relationships he developed while working at Lowen’s. During Doug’s time at Lowen’s, he hired and mentored many young people who became lifelong friends. He loved to give young people a chance, and they, in turn, worked hard to follow the example he set for them. Doug always worked hard to do his best at any job he undertook, and prided himself on doing a job correctly, and to the best of his ability.&nbsp;

After retirement, Doug took care of Carol during her long illness and concentrated on the many projects waiting for him in one of his several garages. &nbsp;He also enjoyed visiting estate sales where he bought many ‘good bargains’, eventually accumulating 130 shovels and 98 hammers that were “just too good to pass up”.&nbsp;

Doug also excelled as a grandfather. He loved to do projects with each of his grandchildren, and was always interested in their many activities, whether in Topeka, Austin, Fort Collins, or Boise. Doug was known to show up in Topeka, ready to build a pergola for Cook, Caleb, and Grace, or to build a clubhouse for Grant and Hale in Austin over a Thanksgiving weekend. His grandchildren treasure their many memories of time with their grandfather.&nbsp;

Doug is survived by: his two daughters and their husbands, Melinda McMichael (James) and Kim Jones (Clif); grandchildren, Amy McMichael Paddock (Richard), Grant McMichael, Hale McMichael (Rebecca Thrower), Cook Jones (Jaci Kettler), Caleb Jones (Marie), Grace Jones (Aaron Mohr); and great-grandchildren, Luke Paddock, Hayes Paddock, Liam McMichael, Lawrence McMichael, Maggie Jones, Robbie Jones, August Mohr, Vivienne Mohr, and one on the way. He was also close to and treasured his relationships with his many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;Doug was preceded in death by: his wife, Carol Lee Herr Cook; brother, Loren Cook; and sister, Norma Hayes.&nbsp;

A family graveside service at Memorial Park is planned, followed by a memorial service to honor Doug at the First Congregational Church, 3401 N. Plum Street, Hutchinson on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Neither Doug nor Carol spoke a word of Spanish, but they somehow managed to get their motorcycle repaired when it broke down and were able to make their way back to Hutchinson.&nbsp;Work was important to Doug, and he inspired many others with his work ethic. He was proud to report that he had held 24 jobs in his life, starting with delivering prescriptions on his bicycle for the Peter Rabbit Delivery Service in Hutchinson at age 10. Doug eventually joined Lowen Corporation where he worked for 53 years, including several years as Senior VP. &nbsp; He felt blessed by the many relationships he developed while working at Lowen’s. During Doug’s time at Lowen’s, he hired and mentored many young people who became lifelong friends. He loved to give young people a chance, and they, in turn, worked hard to follow the example he set for them. Doug always worked hard to do his best at any job he undertook, and prided himself on doing a job correctly, and to the best of his ability.&nbsp;After retirement, Doug took care of Carol during her long illness and concentrated on the many projects waiting for him in one of his several garages. &nbsp;He also enjoyed visiting estate sales where he bought many ‘good bargains’, eventually accumulating 130 shovels and 98 hammers that were “just too good to pass up”.&nbsp;Doug also excelled as a grandfather. He loved to do projects with each of his grandchildren, and was always interested in their many activities, whether in Topeka, Austin, Fort Collins, or Boise. Doug was known to show up in Topeka, ready to build a pergola for Cook, Caleb, and Grace, or to build a clubhouse for Grant and Hale in Austin over a Thanksgiving weekend. His grandchildren treasure their many memories of time with their grandfather.&nbsp;Doug is survived by: his two daughters and their husbands, Melinda McMichael (James) and Kim Jones (Clif); grandchildren, Amy McMichael Paddock (Richard), Grant McMichael, Hale McMichael (Rebecca Thrower), Cook Jones (Jaci Kettler), Caleb Jones (Marie), Grace Jones (Aaron Mohr); and great-grandchildren, Luke Paddock, Hayes Paddock, Liam McMichael, Lawrence McMichael, Maggie Jones, Robbie Jones, August Mohr, Vivienne Mohr, and one on the way. He was also close to and treasured his relationships with his many nieces and nephews. &nbsp;Doug was preceded in death by: his wife, Carol Lee Herr Cook; brother, Loren Cook; and sister, Norma Hayes.&nbsp;A family graveside service at Memorial Park is planned, followed by a memorial service to honor Doug at the First Congregational Church, 3401 N. Douglas Duane “Doug” Cook |1932-2023|

Sharon Lea Fowler, 78, died August 9, 2023, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born June 13, 1945, in Dodge City, to Carl and Eleanor Maree (Hink) Hickey.

Sharon worked for various companies. &nbsp;Later in life, she received her Commercial Driver’s License. &nbsp;Sharon was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On May 4, 1967, she married James William Fowler, in Dodge City. &nbsp;He died May 22, 2013, after they shared 46 years of marriage.&nbsp;

Sharon is survived by: &nbsp;daughter, Jodi Fowler of Hutchinson; son, Dr. Jim Fowler (Edwana) of North Dakota; grandchildren, Jessica Weiss (Brian Jr.) of Colorado and Anthony Wilkinson “J.R.” (Megan) of Hutchinson; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her brothers, Donald Hickey and Ronald Hickey; son, Monty Fowler; and grandson, Terry Fowler.

Private graveside service will take place at Fort Dodge Veterans’ Cemetery, Dodge City. Cremation has taken place.

In memory of Steven Dennis Moore, also known as Steve, Dad, and Grandpa, who passed away in Hutchinson, KS on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 6:03 A.M., 2 months after his 75th birthday.

Steve was born on June 6, 1948 in Hutchinson, KS. His parents were Otto David Moore and Marian Altabell Patten-Moore, the youngest of 8 siblings: Wesley, Beverly, Eugene, Connie, Allan, Kermit, and Patricia (all deceased).

He was married to Roxyanne Starner in Hutchinson and had two amazing children, Penny and Dustin. Steve graduated from Haven High School and enjoyed spending his time fishing and racing. Achievements include being a standout dad and grandpa.

Steve is survived by his wife, Roxy; daughter, Penny and husband Robbie; son, Dustin and wife Angel; as well as 6 grandkids: Steven and wife Tiara, Robbie S. and wife Allie, Derek and Penny, Nikki, Gavin, Baby Jake; and 4.5 great grandkids. And of course, his beloved pets, Duke and Munchkin Moore.

Marianne Redinger, 95, of Red Rock, Texas, died August 6, 2023, at Buda Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care, Buda, Texas. She was born on April 22, 1928, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Daniel and Hazel Edna (Brooks) Cavanaugh.

Marianne was an assembler for EATON Corporation in Hutchinson for 27 years. She was a parish member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bastrop, Texas and Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Marianne married Cecil Redinger on June 11, 1948, in Hutchinson. He died December 28, 2007. Survivors include her children, Marsha Ireland and husband Edwin of Red Rock, TX, and Sharon Anderson and husband Sheldon of Little River; grandchildren, Scott Anderson, Shaun Hicks, Michelle May, Megan Villagomez, Michael Ireland, Meredith Gonzales, and Cody Ireland; several great-grandchildren; step sister, Rae Anne Del Pozzo, California; step brother, David Anthony Riccardo, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Effie Cavanaugh; sister, Colleen Armbruster; and step-sisters, Carma Lee Karstens and Trudy Warren. Margaret Dee Ann England, 80, died August 8, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born February 9, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Robert and Maxine (Bramley) England.

Margaret graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1961 and then from University of Nebraska in Omaha with a degree in construction engineering. She retired from Reno County Public Works. Margaret loved her family and spending time with them. She loved all animals, especially cats.

Margaret is survived by: sisters, Beverly Stauffer, Jane Yunker, Debbie Beougher, all of Hutchinson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside service will be 2 pm Monday, August 14, 2023, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Huntsville. Friends may sign the book from 9 am to 5pm Friday and Saturday or from 1 to 8 Sunday with family present from 5 to 7 pm at Elliott Mortuary.

Gary was born to Darwin and Lois Buck on September 28th, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He moved to Wichita when he was 9, graduating from East High in 1968. 

He attended Wichita State University, where he earned a master’s degree in anthropology and bachelor’s degree in psychology. He was also a founding father of the Beta Iota chapter of the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. He later moved to northern Idaho for 7 years where he was employed as an archaeologist until he sought a career change as a teacher. He attended the University of Idaho, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in science and education, majoring in history.

Gary started his teaching career in 1990 at Buhler High School before coming to Wichita Public Schools in 1992, where he taught at Hadley, Mayberry, East and Northeast Magnet before retiring in 2011. He taught social studies and was a special education facilitator.

As a substitute, he taught at Jardine, Mayberry Middle School, Northeast Magnet, and Southeast High.

Gary enjoyed archaeology, cars, rock concerts, college sports, gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his friends and family. He encouraged people to be who they are, and inspired countless students.

Survived by his wife Annette Buck, daughter Heidi Buck, sons Alex Buck and Cody Buck (Christine), grandson Dylan Buck, granddaughter Isabella Smickenbecker and nephew Kevin Stowe, many other family and friends.
