Joyce Maxine Hoschouer |1937-2024|

Joyce Maxine Hoschouer, 86, of Nickerson, died January 25, 2024, at Sterling Village. She was born July 5, 1937, in Riverton, NE, to Raphael T. and Opal E. (Simmons) Benedict.

In addition to being a homemaker, Joyce worked as a nurse’s aide, and at Western Foods, and as a foster parent. Being with family and cooking for them was the most important thing in her life. Joyce was a member of Nickerson Christian Church (now Christ’s Bible Church).

On July 23, 1955, she married Everett E. Hoschouer, in Hastings, NE. He died August 18, 2015.

Joyce is survived by: her son, Stanley Hoschouer (Kayelene) of Nickerson; daughter, Shawna Adams of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Trudie Hoschouer of Lansing; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her father; mother, Opal Braun; son, Steve Hoschouer; sister, Claudene Johnson; niece, Joan Hoschouer; good friend, Bev Herren; and beloved dogs, Honey, Scooter, Bruiser, Sissy, and Yo-Yo.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Wildmead Cemetery on West Cemetery Road, in Nickerson.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, at Elliott Mortuary.
