Nicholas Deonta Rogers, 33, died on April 22, 2025, in Wichita. &nbsp;He was born October 7, 1991, in Waukegan, Illinois. &nbsp;He was later adopted by Arlen and Susan Goering.

Deonta worked for Lampton Welding in Hutchinson. &nbsp;

He had a passion for his music that he shared with Keyboy. &nbsp;Deonta’s music journey changed when he became a father to his three precious children to whom he was very devoted to.

Deonta had an infectious smile and quick sense of humor. &nbsp;He had a big heart. &nbsp;His compassion and empathy for others extended to many. &nbsp;He was a loyal friend and hard worker. &nbsp;He was a joy to be around.

He is survived by his: mother, Susan Goering (Arlen); children, Jamarion Rhodeman, Marking Rogers and Kahniyah Rogers; siblings, Ashley Rogers, Emily Rogers, Henry Rogers, Sara Andrea Gilbert, Asia Reedy, Wendy Martinez, Derrick Wright, Anastasia Rogers, April Taylor, Joseph Boyle, Erick Wyler and Debi Canady; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deonta was preceded in death by: maternal grandparents, MaryAnn and Willis Goering; and brothers, Matthew Rogers, Joshua York, and Jose Reedy.

There will be a private family inurnment with a public Celebration of Life at a later date.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Annabelle; children, Cheryl Barnes, David Collins, and Charles Mendenhall; and a brother, Timothy Page. 

Karen is survived by her three children, Martha Rochefort, Katherine Mendenhall and Timothy Mendenhall; seven siblings, Terry Page, Linda (Ron) Engstrom, Priscilla Page, Melody Bratcher, Tod Page, Verna (Danny Socha) Page and Doug Page; daughter-in-law, Amber Mendenhall; 27 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS. Burial will take place in Plevna Cemetery, Plevna, KS. Margaret Louise “Marg” Dwyer, 86, of Hutchinson, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born May 15, 1938, in Hutchinson, to Frank and Steffie (Bogdanovecz) Votruba.

Margaret graduated from St. Teresa Catholic High School and earned an AA in Business at Hutchinson Community College. After college, she met the love of her life, Dick Dwyer, and they were married on June 14, 1958, at St Teresa Catholic Church. Lifelong Hutchinson residents, they were blessed with 58 wonderful years of marriage. Margaret was a homemaker; together, they raised 3 children: Debbie, Susie, and Michael. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Margaret and Dick presented “Marriage Encounter” weekends for 9 years and “Evenings for the Engaged” marriage preparation classes for 26 years. She was a long-time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Margaret loved life and spent time with Dick, enjoying God’s nature, taking trips, lake time, reading, playing games, working in the yard with flowers, writing, camping, 4-wheeling in the Sandhills, taking pictures, and being involved in various church groups. She enjoyed her Cursillo faith group each week and playing cards with her two best friends. Margaret was a resource for advice and comfort, had a spontaneous and fun spirit, and had a great thirst for Jesus. She was artistic and enjoyed acrylic, oil, and watercolor painting. Later in life, Margaret found a new passion in photography, and this led her to start a photography business, Mdwyer Originals.

She is survived by: her 3 children, Debbie (Steve) Mullins of Hutchinson, Susie (Mark) Marshall of Wichita, and Michael (Renni) Dwyer of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Mullins of Hutchinson, Jenny (A.J.) Don went to his heavenly home on April 30, 2025. Don found his life’s profession at the age of 25 when he started working for the Kansas Department of Corrections. He made this into a 30 year career before retiring in 2007 as the Deputy Warden of the El Dorado Correctional Facility. Don was born on April 11, 1952 (Good Friday) to Clifford Thomas and Edith Anduss Thomas Hutchinson, Kansas. He met the love of his life Nancy Schadler Thomas in Hutchinson, Kansas at Alco. They were married on November 5, 1977, forty seven years ago. They were blessed with three wonderful children, daughter Erika, son Randall and son Dustin, but these wonderful children had to take the back seat when Don and Nancy became grandparents to 11 wonderful, brilliant, and amazing grandchildren. Don loved traveling with his wife Nancy and together they traveled with various friends and he especially loved watching grandchildren in sports, concerts and plays. He also enjoyed watching the Butler Grizzlies play football and basketball and enjoyed family get-togethers.

Don is survived by his wife Nancy of the home, daughter Erika (Jason) VanFleet of Topeka, son Randall Thomas of Whitewater and son Dustin of Kechi. Grandchildren Dylan and Trent Gaskill, Sierra Thomas, Hailey Miller, Lily Thomas, Isabell (Izzy) VanFleet, Laci VanFleet, Logan VanFleet, Bradyn Thomas, Eli Thomas and Riley Thomas. Robert (Bob) Joseph Burkhart, of Hutchinson, KS, passed away peacefully at his home on May 4, 2025. Bob was born on November 13, 1947, in Spearville, KS, to Elred and Esther (Durler) Burkhart.

Bob grew up on a dairy farm just outside Kinsley, KS, where he later met his wife, Sheryl Eining of Spearville. They were married on August 10, 1968, and soon after began their family. After stops in Dodge City, Kinsley, and Liberal, they eventually settled in Hutchinson, where Bob worked for Betts Baking Company. When the opportunity arose to own a ServiceMaster Clean franchise, Bob and Sheryl took the leap. Together with their sons, they built a successful family-run business, where Bob worked happily for 41 years until his passing.

Outside of work, Bob cherished time with his family—whether hunting, racing, or spending time at Table Rock Lake. Never one to sit idle, he was often seen driving around town in search of a good deal or checking in on customers. His favorite time of year was the Kansas State Fair, where ServiceMaster Clean held the cleaning contract. For over 40 years, Bob could be found there from sunup to sundown, making his rounds on a golf cart. He never met a stranger and never turned down a bowl of ice cream.

Bob was a long-time member of Church of the Holy Cross Catholic Church and faithfully served as an usher and Eucharistic minister. He was also a proud brother Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 2131, Kinsley chapter.

Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sheryl (Eining) Burkhart; sons Michael (Shelbi) of Hutchinson, Brent (Tammy) of Hutchinson, and Lance (Karen) of Overland Park; five grandchildren – Jake (fiancée Kate), Jhet (fiancée Tori), Peyton, Haley, and Isaac; siblings – Ron (Rhonda) of Kinsley, Mary Schneider of Topeka, Janel (Doug) Burr of Kinsley, Jim (Marilyn) of Goddard, Don (Julie) of Grain Valley, MO, Gerald (Judye) of Washington, OK, and Tom (Suzie) of Mulvane; as well as countless beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ken.

Bob was a true family man, and his sons and grandchildren were his greatest pride. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and deep devotion to those he loved will be remembered always and missed beyond measure.

Robert (Bob) Joseph Burkhart |1947-2025|

Shirlene Kay Kohler was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 15, 1962, to Erwin and Mary Kay Kohler. She grew up in Cheney, Kansas on the family farm. In the spring of 1982 Shirlene met Rex Roberts. They dated through college and were married in May of 1986 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon Kansas. In April of 1993 they were blessed by the birth of their daughter Courtney.

On May 1st of 2025 Shirlene passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her loving husband, Rex Roberts in Saratoga, Wyoming.

Shirlene leaves behind her husband, Rex Roberts of the home; daughter, Courtney Mann and husband, Torin Mann, granddaughters Jade and Ruby Mann of Little Falls, Minnesota; sister, Dell Strom and husband, Brad of Thornton, Colorado; sister, Kathy Fleegel and husband, Steve of Willmar, Minnesota; brother, Glen Kohler and wife, Michaeline of Cheney, Kansas. Shirlene was a graduate of Kansas State University. She began her career with the Kansas Farm Bureau Insurance Company. Her and her husband later relocated to Denver, Colorado, where she had 35-year career as a Commercial Insurance Underwriter. She retired December 31st of 2024.

In the spring of 1982 Shirlene met Rex Roberts. They dated through college and were married in May of 1986 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon Kansas. In April of 1993 they were blessed by the birth of their daughter Courtney.On May 1st of 2025 Shirlene passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her loving husband, Rex Roberts in Saratoga, Wyoming.Shirlene leaves behind her husband, Rex Roberts of the home; daughter, Courtney Mann and husband, Torin Mann, granddaughters Jade and Ruby Mann of Little Falls, Minnesota; sister, Dell Strom and husband, Brad of Thornton, Colorado; sister, Kathy Fleegel and husband, Steve of Willmar, Minnesota; brother, Glen Kohler and wife, Michaeline of Cheney, Kansas. Vern Donald “Don” Davis, 89, died April 30, 2025, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born October 30, 1935, in Kansas City, MO, to Vern Wendell and Wilma Mattie (Phillips) Davis.&nbsp;

Don graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, MO. &nbsp;He worked as a graphic artist for Lowen Sign Company over 35 years. &nbsp;Don later opened his own company, Davis Art. &nbsp;He was a pilot, an avid outdoorsman, and loved backpacking and family vacations to the Colorado mountains. &nbsp;Don was a member of the Sign Painters Union in Kansas City, MO. &nbsp;He also volunteered for Noel Lodge and the Food Bank of Reno County. Don was the ultimate “girl dad”, raising five daughters and loving all his family unconditionally. &nbsp;He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

On My 28, 1955, he married Betty Jean Tallman, in Rogers, AR.&nbsp;

Don is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of almost 70 years, Betty Davis; daughters, Donna Davis, Jeanne Parsons, Janet Davis (Tom Clark), Laura Shea (Tony Oltman), and Sam Davis, all of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his parents; his in-laws; grandson, Jacob Aich; son-in-law, Steve Parsons, and beloved sister, JoAnn McPeak.

Norman Hugh Morray, Jr. was born May 5, 1949 in Emporia. He was the first child of Norman H. Morray, Sr. and Bonnie Sue (Colwell) Morray and was affectionately called Norm, Normie, or Stormie.

He grew up just north of No. 8 school house outside of Madison, KS and graduated with the class of 1967. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his mom working on his 4-H entomology project and attending auctions with his parents. During his high school years he enjoyed industrial arts projects and driving around in his 1938 Plymouth. He always laughed about the time he and some buddies laid the ’38 on its side one night but they righted it and away they went with no damage to the car and the old man never found out. He picked up the aggravating game of golf in high school and he and classmate Bobby Douglas became the ex-officio MHS golf team and competed well in tournaments.

Norm attended KSTC one year, worked at Anderson feed yard, read Emporia water meters, and eventually became a Farm Bureau Insurance agent. This led him to Hutchinson, KS in 1971, when he&nbsp;became an independent insurance agent. He sold insurance and played golf, or vice versa. He was a member of the hole in one club and was Prairie Dunes Club Champion in 1993. He loved entertaining family and friends at the ‘dunes’, his home away from home, just one block away.

But at the age of 68, Norm was struck down by a debilitating stroke. He managed as best he could with the help of dear friends, until such time he returned to Emporia to be closer to family. Normie’s last eight years have been very difficult for him. But now the difficulty is over. Norm died December 19 at Flint Hills CRC.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Paul. He is survived by sisters Carol&nbsp;(Morray) Banister, Tamie (Morray) Fleming and husband Don, brother Brian Morray and wife Jana, plus many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He will be missed but perhaps we will meet again at the 19th hole.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carey Park Junior Golf Association and sent to The Course at Carey Park, 9 Emerson Loop E, Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Norman Hugh Morray, Jr. |1949-2024|

Fern M. Bontrager, 101, of South Hutchinson, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at Mennonite Friendship Communities with her daughter, Nancy, at her side. She was born in Hesston to Annie and Harry Kaufman on October 22, 1923. Fern was their fourth child with her older siblings being Llyod, Erma, Alta, and her younger brother, Glenn. &nbsp;

Fern graduated from Hesston Academy in 1942. On January 13, 1946, Dan Bontrager and Fern Kaufman were united in marriage. They waited until Dan returned after completing four years as medical service personnel member in World War II. They shared nearly 56 years of marriage before his death on October 8, 2002.&nbsp;

The Bontrager’s were proud farmers, working the land and cattle. Dan and Fern enjoyed square dancing and playing pool together as their favorite hobbies. She worked at Haven State Bank until she retired in 1988. After retirement, Fern worked as a cashier at Country Traditions in Yoder, she volunteered at Reins of Hope, and the Et-Cetera Shop.&nbsp;

They were very involved parents with their children, Nancy and Danny. Fern supported the children in school activities, especially the 4-H organization where both Fern and Dan served as leaders. The children would often refer to them as “the best parents ever.”

Church was a large part of their lives as they were two of the original fourteen families that started what has become Journey Mennonite Church. In later years, Fern’s special friend was Melvin Yoder. He also was one of the original members of the church. Melvin just turned 101 as well and they comforted each other daily for years.&nbsp;

Fern is survived by: daughter, Nancy (Lloyd) Brown of McPherson; grandson’s, Dan (Laura) Bauman of Minneapolis, MN, Gary (LeAnn) Bauman, of Townsend, MT; great-grandchildren, Madison, Macey, and Mason Bauman of Townsend, MT; extended family, Jane and Randy Harder, Brandon and Kristina Harder, Katie Marie Harder all of Haven; many fabulous nieces and nephews; and “special little friend,” Baylor Hopp of McPherson.

She was preceded in death by: parents; adored husband, Dan D. Bontrager; beloved son, Danny L. Bontrager; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Bauman.&nbsp;

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Yoder Cemetery, with Pastor Howard Wagler officiating. Everyone is invited to luncheon following the service at Journey@South Hutch.

Glenda Sue Epley, 80, of Hutchinson, died April 25, 2025, at Cedarhurst Senior Living, Wichita. She was born September 23, 1944, in Wichita, to George Elbert and Lena Gertrude (Beagley) Kerr.

Glenda graduated from Preston High School, Preston in 1962, and soon thereafter, attended and graduated from Adela Hale Business School, Hutchinson. Glenda worked various jobs, such as, Dillons Stores business and trucking department for many years, as a manager for Beal Office Supply, Hutchinson, and a debt collector with Portfolio Recovery Associates, Hutchinson, eventually retiring in 2014.

In her spare time, Glenda enjoyed being artistic with her scrapbooking, crafting, and sewing. In addition, she really enjoyed tending to her garden. A dedicated member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Glenda held many positions supporting her sisters, she also supported individuals with her involvement in the local TOPS Group. &nbsp;&nbsp;

On July 20, 1963, she married Buddy ‘Bud’ Laverne Epley, in Preston, KS. They shared over 59 years of marriage, prior to his death on March 5, 2023.

Glenda is survived by: her daughter, Teri (Dan) Slavenburg of Goddard; grandchildren, Katie (Craig Gorges) Slavenburg, Mason (Christina) Slavenburg, and Tyler Slavenburg; sisters, Donnie Meireis, and Barbara Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

Glenda Sue Epley |1944-2025|

Dale Eugene Beck, 82, died April 28, 2025, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born Sept. 10, 1942, to Edward J. and Elner (Zimmerman) Beck, and grew up in rural Reno County on property homesteaded by the Beck family in 1896.

A 1960 graduate of Fairfield North High School in Plevna, KS, Dale majored in Forestry at Oklahoma State University. He and Diane K. Crow married March 20, 1965; residents of California and southeast Kansas, while Dale worked for the U.S. Forest Service and Crawford County Conservation District, they moved back to the Plevna area in 1970 to begin farming. In 1972, Dale was named Outstanding Young Farmer by the Hutchinson Jaycees.

Incorporating as Prairie Farms (1981), Dale and Diane raised livestock and three children while expanding their farming operation. They were recognized by Greater Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce as 1985 Farm Focus Couple; and Dale received the Reno County Conservation District Lifetime Stewardship Award (2011). His community support included service to Plevna Community Bible Church, Fairfield USD 310 Board of Education, Reno County Soil Conservation District, area co-op boards—and donating 122 pints of blood to the American Red Cross (1990-2020).&nbsp;

Despite lacking depth perception in one eye, Dale earned his IFR pilot license via Roberts Flying Service in Sylvia, KS (1981) and co-owned Cessna N23323. Prairie Farms was featured in an Audubon Society special produced by Judith Dwan Hallet (1992) that aired nationally on TBS and PBS; aside from his on-camera role in “Battle for The Great Plains”, Dale problem-solved plane-mounting equipment for some of the documentary’s flyover shots.&nbsp;

Dale and Diane purchased property in Estes Park, CO (1993) and enjoyed relaxing there. In 2015, Dale moved Diane to Dillon Living Center, and later Mennonite Friendship Communities (MFC). In January 2022, Dale left their farm and moved to MFC himself.

Dale is survived by: sister, Kay Bachus (Terry), Green Mountain Falls, CO; children, Renae J Burt (Kevin), Austin, TX, Carma Morin (Joe), Estes Park, CO, and Seth Beck (Jacki), Plevna; grandchildren, Tristan Burt (Haley), Evan Burt, Jake and Ethan Beck, Dakota (Cassie) Parkhurst, and Jenaka Parkhurst; and great-granddaughter, Margaret Louise Burt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife of 58 years, Diane (August 2023).

Celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2025, at Elliott Chapel, followed by burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until the service. Visitation with family will be 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, May 15, at the mortuary.

The funeral service will be livestreamed and the link will be active beginning at 10:20 a.m. the day of the service.

His community support included service to Plevna Community Bible Church, Fairfield USD 310 Board of Education, Reno County Soil Conservation District, area co-op boards—and donating 122 pints of blood to the American Red Cross (1990-2020).&nbsp;Despite lacking depth perception in one eye, Dale earned his IFR pilot license via Roberts Flying Service in Sylvia, KS (1981) and co-owned Cessna N23323. Prairie Farms was featured in an Audubon Society special produced by Judith Dwan Hallet (1992) that aired nationally on TBS and PBS; aside from his on-camera role in “Battle for The Great Plains”, Dale problem-solved plane-mounting equipment for some of the documentary’s flyover shots.&nbsp;Dale and Diane purchased property in Estes Park, CO (1993) and enjoyed relaxing there. In 2015, Dale moved Diane to Dillon Living Center, and later Mennonite Friendship Communities (MFC). Leigh E. Dutton, 51, passed away on April 22, 2025, at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, KS. Leigh was born on February 9, 1974, in Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of Laverne and Susan (Cline) Seifert.

Leigh graduated from Nickerson High School in 1992. She was self-employed as a Masseuse. Leigh enjoyed going to concerts, watching movies with her dogs and spending summer vacations with her grandson, Slade.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Susan Seifert.

JoAnn was born on March 3, 1954 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Anthony and Mary Jo Vecchiarelli. &nbsp;A graduate of Trinity Catholic High School, JoAnn earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Saint Louis University in 1977, majoring in Speech-Language Pathology. During her time at SLU, she served as head cheerleader and was also active in her sorority, Theta Phi Theta.&nbsp;

Following graduate school, JoAnn moved to Kansas City, where she would assist in launching the Speech-Language Pathology program at Saint Luke’s Hospital. It was in Kansas City that she met “Smitty”, her partner for the next 42 years.

Upon welcoming their son Jonathan, JoAnn stepped away from her career as a speech therapist to focus on ‘her boys’. &nbsp;She was a devoted wife and mother, ever generous with her time to causes she held dear – her Catholic faith, family, education, and the less fortunate. She lived her values and inspired others to do the same, and the world is a less compassionate place without her light in it.&nbsp;

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Duaine Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Olivia Smith; grandson, Teddy Smith; and brothers, Charles Vecchiarelli (Polly) and Vincent Vecchiarelli (Kelly). &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary Jo Vecchiarelli and her daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Smith.&nbsp;

James Lee Huffman, 77, died April 28, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in Hutchinson. He was born July 2, 1947, in Scott City, to Robert and Elizabeth (Kohl) Huffman.

James graduated from Nickerson High School in 1965. He served in the United States Navy and Navy Reserves for six years. James worked as a mechanic for over 40 years at the Kansas Department of Transportation and Bob’s Truck Repair, Hutchinson. James enjoyed working on cars and coaching his children’s baseball teams. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson.

On November 20, 1970, he married Kathleen “Kathy” Joyce Ward, in Hutchinson. They shared over 52 years of marriage, prior to her death on December 7, 2022.

James is survived by: his children, Mike (Emily) Huffman of Manhattan, David Huffman of Kechi, Teresa Huffman of Hutchinson; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Blachford of Alden, Jean (Mike) Ober of Cottonwood, AZ, Vera Frye of Lyons, Dee Huffman of Skiatook, OK, Joe (Leslie) Huffman of Hutchinson, and Barb (Lou) Winterfield of Fountain Hills, AZ.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Kathy Huffman; and brothers, Frank and Tom Huffman.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Angela Kay Smith, age 57, of Hutchinson on April 26, 2025. Angie passed peacefully, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with early onset Alzheimer’s.

Born on July 5, 1967, in Hutchinson to Donald Linebaugh and Karen Owen. Graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1985. Angie met Lance while working at Dillons 5th and Adams in 1986. Encouraged by their friend Sarah, who told Angie she needed to get to know Lance. &nbsp;The two quickly formed a special bond and found something lasting. &nbsp;They were married August 15th, 1987.She was married to her devoted husband, Lance, for 37 wonderful years. Together they have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. Angie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

&nbsp;Angie worked many years at Dillons as a Pharmacy Technician. She took off and stayed home to raise their children and had a small daycare. Angie last worked for the Hutchinson Clinic as a Surgery Scheduler for many years.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Angie found immense joy in spending time with her family, particularly with her children and grandchildren, who brought her so much happiness. She cherished family vacations, especially Caribbean Cruises or Disney World and treasured the memories she made with those she loved.

Angie is survived by her husband, Lance Smith; her children, Heather Smith, Brittany Aden (spouse, Zach Aden), Dallas Smith (spouse, Chloe Smith), and Nickolas Smith. Grandchildren; Jersey, Braydee, Blaze, Noah, Caleb, River, and Sutton. sisters, Kim Linebaugh, Annette Dixon (spouse Eddie Dixon), and Michelle Pease. &nbsp;Parents; Karen Owen and Donald Linebaugh. Angie was also Aunt Gigi to many nieces and nephews.

Angie’s love for her family and her kind-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on through her family.

Verla Marie Brewer, 74, died April 24, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;She was born May 24, 1950, in Little River, to Trammel Edward Elliott and Verne Delores Clapp.

Verla dedicated over 40 years of her life to Hubco, where she worked in many roles and helped create thousands of their bags. She had a deep love for gardening, especially flowers, and enjoyed painting, watching birds, playing cards, BUNCO, and creating Wahoo Boards with her beloved husband. Verla and her husband, Clinton, shared an immense passion for dancing. After taking lessons together, they eventually went on to teach others how to dance — a joy they loved sharing.

Verla was a familiar face at the Hutchinson Moose Lodge #982, as well as the Senior Center at Elmdale Park and the Delos V. Smith Senior Center. Her faith was important to her; she was a former member of Eastwood Church of Christ and a current member of First Christian Church, where she was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship.

On February 21, 1968, Verla married Clinton Bernard Brewer in Hutchinson. They shared 57 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on March 18, 2025.

Verla’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by: daughters, Carrie Brewer of Salina and Penny Bettles of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Michael Bettles of Salina; sisters, Edna Keeler of Hutchinson, Janice Kitson of Texas, &nbsp;Jaunita “Irene” Monroe of Haviland, and twin-sister, Betty Crawford (David) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Rachel Storm, Mason Bettles, Bryson Bettles, and Jaxson Bettles; great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Storm, all of Salina; sister-in-law, Anita Brewer of Salina; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Trammel Elliott; mother, Verne Harsh; husband, Clinton Brewer; daughter, Jennefer Brewer; brothers-in-law, Francis Monroe and Jack Brewer; and sister-in-law, Linda Briner.

She will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering patience, vibrant and ornery spirit, her creativity, and the love she shared with everyone who knew her.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that Verla and Clinton are together again after only 37 days, dancing, laughing and holding their precious daughter, Jennefer.&nbsp;

Marcella Joyce Risley, 86, left Pretty Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, Kansas to join her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ on April 26, 2025.

She was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Charles Allen and Rosella (Graber) Risley the first of seven children.

She graduated from Adams High School, Wichita Business School and Prairie Bible Institute, Alberta, Canada.

Marcy taught Child Evangelism Classes, worked at Back to the Bible Broadcast in Lincoln, Nebraska and did mission work in Bogota, Columbia with New Tribes Missions.

She owned and operated Marcy’s Alterations for thirty years retiring at age 80.

Marcy is survived by her brothers Leroy and wife Elaine, Kenneth and wife Therese; sisters Wanita Lampe, Arlene King and husband David; thirteen nieces, nephews and their spouses and children. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jeanette Helm and her husband Raymond, Gloryanne Simons and her husband Floyd; and brother-in-law Larry D. Lampe.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church where she was a member with Pastor David Roth presiding. &nbsp;The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman. &nbsp;Burial will be in the Kingman Mennonite Cemetery.

 </figure>Marcella Joyce Risley, 86, left Pretty Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, Kansas to join her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ on April 26, 2025.She was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Charles Allen and Rosella (Graber) Risley the first of seven children.She graduated from Adams High School, Wichita Business School and Prairie Bible Institute, Alberta, Canada.Marcy taught Child Evangelism Classes, worked at Back to the Bible Broadcast in Lincoln, Nebraska and did mission work in Bogota, Columbia with New Tribes Missions.She owned and operated Marcy’s Alterations for thirty years retiring at age 80.Marcy is survived by her brothers Leroy and wife Elaine, Kenneth and wife Therese; sisters Wanita Lampe, Arlene King and husband David; thirteen nieces, nephews and their spouses and children. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Jeanette Helm and her husband Raymond, Gloryanne Simons and her husband Floyd; and brother-in-law Larry D. Adrian Montes, 65, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, KS. Adrian was born on December 2, 1959, in Juarez, Mexico, the son of Francisco and Felicitas (Candia) Montes.

On August 22, 1978, Adrian married Maria L. Arevalo in El Paso, TX. He worked for the City of Hutchinson as a water maintenance operator and retired after 30 years in 2022. Adrian was a member of the Central Kansas Gun Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; two sisters; a granddaughter, Ximena Hernandez and one nephew, Mundo Silva.

Adrian is survived by his wife, Maria; two daughters, Adriana Montes and Mirna (Rene Gutierrez) Montes; one son, Adrian (Mirna Bonilla) Montes Jr.; one sister, Linda Sifuentes; six grandchildren, Martin Ramos, Roman Gutierrez, Rolan Gutierrez, Francisco Hernandez, Mia Gutierrez and Kamila Hernandez; and three great grandchildren, Mariana Ramos, Eileen Ramos and Martin Ramos Jr.

A Parish Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Rae Ann Cuda, 78, died April 25, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born on September 27, 1946, in Pittsburg, KS, to John Harman and Coral Arline (McClure) Chastain.

Rae graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1964. She attended Fort Hays State University and earned her Master of speech-pathology from Wichita State University. Rae worked as a speech therapist for USD 308 and surrounding schools. After her retirement, she continued her passion in speech therapy by working at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and local nursing homes. Rae enjoyed photography; she used her talents to publish a set of photo-based speech therapy flashcards. She also liked to write and was an author of many books, including mysteries and children’s books. Rae was a friend to everyone; she was instrumental in high school class reunions and monthly get-togethers. She was a former member of Park Place Christian Church, and current member of Calvary Chapel.

On February 26, 1972, Rae married Donald Wayne “Don” Cuda, in Hutchinson. They shared almost 43 years of marriage, prior to his death on February 10, 2015.&nbsp;

Rae is survived by: her son, Jason (Trisha) Cuda; grandchildren, Aidyn and Scarlett Cuda, all of Avondale Estates, GA; brothers, Jim (Pam) Chastain of South Hutchinson and John (Sharon) Chastain of Hutchinson; nieces, Amy Chastain of Alva, OK and Kayla Salas of Hutchinson; as well as several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Cuda; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Chastain.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Luke Helmuth officiating. Graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Crocker Cemetery, 8892 NE Highway 171, Pittsburg. Wilber Dale Redd, 91, died April 23, 2025, at Sunshine Meadow Retirement Community, Buhler. He was born December 9, 1933, to Archie and Gladys Redd.

Wilber graduated from Buhler High School. He served in the United States Army in the late 1950s. He retired in 1996 from Eaton after being a machinist for 23 years. Wilber liked to tend to his garden and backyard. He enjoyed spending time with his animals, helping others and hunting. Wilber loved to go to the Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees.

On November 19, 1988, he married Sue Forgay, at the Community Center in Arlington. They shared over 36 years of marriage prior to his death.

Wilber is survived by: his wife, Sue; children, Rick Brawner and Renee Morford, both of Hutchinson, Steve (Jacki) Redd of Wichita, Kenneth Redd of South Hutchinson, Kathaleen Redd of Buhler, Sharon (Lou and Lori Bernardo) Redd of Wichita, Ginger (Tim) Dierkson of Medicine Lodge; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Immesote of Webb City; brothers, Karl Redd of Arkansas and Allen Redd of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Walter Redd, Floyd Redd; sister, Carlene Poe; and daughter in-law Francie Redd.

Nathan Alan Kaufman, 48, of rural Hutchinson, died April 25, 2025, at his home. He was born July 31, 1976, in Hutchinson, to Daniel L. and Elizabeth A. (Pratt) Kaufman.

Nate graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1994. He spent many years doing what he loved - driving truck and farming for his uncle in Nebraska. Nate also loved horses, riding, roping, and working cattle for close family friends. He was baptized in, and a faithful member of, The Shepherd’s Chapel in Gravette, AR.

Nate is survived by: his parents; brother, Jason Kaufman (Tami) of Hutchinson; niece, Korie Kaufman of Manhattan; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Per Nate’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Murray D. Reimer, 70, of Hutchinson, died April 23, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center after a long health battle. He was born April 8, 1955, in Fowler, to Arnold and Helen (Loewen) Reimer.&nbsp;

Murray attended Tabor College in 1974 and graduated from Friends University in 2000 with a Bachelor’s of Science. He worked for Prairie Land Partners, AGCO Corporation, and Straub International as an agricultural mechanic for 40 years. &nbsp;

In 1979, he married Ama Boese. They shared 46 years of marriage before his death.&nbsp;

Murray was an active member of the First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson. He participated in the church choir and was the sound tech for Sunday morning services. Murray especially enjoyed the pot luck dinners at the church.&nbsp;

Murray followed motor sports avidly whether he went to the drag races or watched NASCAR on television. He could tell you everything about the sport. Murray enjoyed visiting with friends and family albeit in person or on the phone. &nbsp;

Murray is survived by: beloved wife, Ama Reimer of Hutchinson; sons, Drew (Rebekah) Reimer of West Virginia, and Ethan Reimer of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Josephine Reimer of West Virginia; sister, LaVera (Tim) Isaac of Oklahoma; brother, Leon (Ethel) Reimer of Meade; and numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Memorial service will take place at First Mennonite Church, 52 Rambler Rd. Hutchinson, KS, with dates to be announced.&nbsp;

Veneta Marcella Chapin, 69, of Hutchinson, passed away April 21, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born August 21, 1955, in El Dorado, to Elmer Wagner and Glady’s Mariana (Hublitz) Roland.

Veneta moved to Hutchinson from Medicine Lodge in 1995. She was very passionate about her family and was always willing to help anyone. She loved playing bingo, golf, and hanging out with her family on their land in Medicine Lodge. In addition, Veneta was an avid dog lover and would care for all animals.
