
Shirley (Robertson) Johnson, 93, of Hutchinson, KS, died September 5, 2026, at Hospice House. She was born June 1, 1933, in Union County, SD, to Roscoe and Dovye (Kennedy) Robertson.
Shirley graduated from Hawarden, IA, High School in 1951, and attended South Dakota State University, University of Nebraska, and Hutchinson Community College. Her first job was as a telephone operator, working in both Hawarden, IA and Brookings, SD. After moving to Hutchinson, she worked as an office clerk at Lackey Construction. Shirley was later co-owner of CKC, Inc. Then, along with her husband Roger, she was co-owner of Johnson Ag Services.
Shirley was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, where she served on various committees, the Church Council, as Church Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and Director of Vacation Bible School. Shirley was also active in Beta Sigma Phi, P.E.O. Chapter CM, Soroptimist International of Hutchinson, and was a Girl Scout leader.
She enjoyed playing softball and golfing for many years as well as traveling the world. But most of all, Shirley loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
On October 12, 1952, she married Roger H. Johnson, in Hawarden, IA. They shared nearly 74 years of marriage.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Roger; children Lynn Johnson (Kathleen McMullen) of Dunedin, FL, Teresa Hoffman (Richard Briggs) of Overland Park, Dana Johnson (Natalie) of Centerton, AR; grandchildren, Evan Johnson (Ashley) of Liberty, MO, Andrea Johnson and Alisa Johnson, both of Kansas City, MO, Carlen Huhn (Ryan) of Belle Isle, FL, Nick Hoffman of Littleton, CO, Eric Johnson (Alex) of Littleton, CO; great-grandchildren, Anna Christine Estelle of Kansas City, MO, Colin Johnson and Siena Johnson of Liberty, MO; Bennett Huhn of Belle Isle, FL; and many extended family members, including Ben Robertson (Kathleen) of Hawarden, IA., and Thomas Robertson of Hopkins, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dolly Tone, Doris Wilkison; and brother, Elton Robertson.
Cremation has taken place.
Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary.
A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2026, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502. Private family inurnment will follow at a later date in Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, IA.
