Allison C. ‘Alli’ Carson, 35, of McPherson, died September 21, 2024, at her home. She was born August 29, 1989, in Fort Riley, to Larry and Janie (Meyer) Carson.

Alli was devoted to her children, whom she loved greatly. She enjoyed music and expressed herself through beautiful tattoos. Alli cared for all animals, cats were her favorite. On October 5, 2019, she married Carmen Alvarez and they shared nearly five wonderful years of marriage before her death.&nbsp;

Alli is survived by: wife, Carmen Alvarez of McPherson; daughter, Demi Carson of McPherson; sons, Ezra Carson, Miles Alvarez, both of McPherson; mother, Janie Carson of Hutchinson; brother, Chris (Valerie) Carson of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Tara (Jim Banta) Schroeder of Wichita; niece, Claire Carson of Virginia Beach, VA; uncle, William (Barbara) Meyer of Hutchinson; and numerous cousins.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.&nbsp;

Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held.&nbsp;

Marian Kay Hall, 78, of Moundridge, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Pine Village, Moundridge.

She was born in McPherson, KS on November 13, 1945, the daughter of Lyle and Mattie E. (Van Ness) Switzer.

Marian attended Wickersham Grade School, McPherson Jr. High and graduated from McPherson High School in 1963.

She was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Marian worked as a owner operator of P Club, Mango Tree, Black Fox and La Fox and then worked as an Administrative Secretary for St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, casinos, loved her dogs and spending time with her family.

Marian was united in marriage to Dennis Raymond Hall, Sr. on November 13, 1964 in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, Sheri, Maria, Julie and Dennis.

She is survived by her children, Julie Jantzen (Kirby), of Moundridge, Dennis Hall (Anne) of McPherson, and Jesseca Walter (Kyle) of Hesston; her sister, Jackie Foster (Bob) of Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren&nbsp;and 5 great grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dennis Raymond Hall, Sr. and daughters, Maria Denise Hall and Sheri Kay Hall.

Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home in McPherson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson with Fr. Michael Kerschen officiating. Burial will be at McPherson Cemetery.

Marian Kay Hall |1945-2024|

James Orlando Harms died 24 September 2024 at his home in Newton KS.

He was born in Hillsboro KS on 26 January 1943 to Orlando and Erna (Wiebe) Harms. He lived in Wichita while his father pastored the First Mennonite Brethren Church. In his elementary years the family moved back to Hillsboro. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1960. 

Following high school he attended Tabor College (Hillsboro) for one year. Over the next six to eight years he attended Wichita State University, earning his bachelor’s degree and hours towards his master’s degree. In between times at university he would go back to California. He had fond memories of the many friends he made while living and working there.

On August 4, 1976 he married Elaine Roupp from Oregon in Santa Cruz CA. Their first home was near Goessel KS. In 1986 they moved to Newton KS. After ten years they moved into a small apartment in the commercial building where he had his pipe organ business.

He was very mechanically-minded. He could figure out how to make something work by studying how it was made. He just knew how something fit together. He was also very musical. He played various instruments, making music with his horn or sax in jazz bands or playing violin in the San Jose CA symphony while living there. 

He was a social worker, teacher, printer, builder of auto racing engines, and finally a pipe organ builder and voicer. He knew what he wanted the final instrument to sound like so he designed and built mechanical-action pipe organs and spent much time making them sound like he wanted them to sound. He regretted not being able to restore all the old cars he acquired over the years, specifically Nissan 300Zs and MGs.

He struggled with a disability from a major auto accident in the early 1970’s but kept going. In 2012 he fell and broke a hip from which he never fully recovered with his ability to walk decreasing. But he kept up his spirit. He worked on family geneology, researched and published articles about one specific Mennonite clockmaker from the Mennonite settlements in Prussia and south Russia. He kept abreast of world happenings by reading the international press and various news groups.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlando and Erna Harms.

Leaving to mourn is his wife of 48 years, Elaine, brother Robert (Sandy Wiens) Harms of Guilford CT, sister Marilyn (C Richard) Jeppesen of Slidell LA, nieces Lisa Domingo of Indianapolis IN and Laura (David) Zoppo of Pine CO, and great niece Liv Zoppo.

Cremation has taken place. There are no services planned at this time.

Memorials may be given to the Mennonite Library and Archives at Bethel College, North Newton KS or the Center for Mennonite Brethren Studies at Tabor College, Hillsboro KS.

Margaret S. Kennedy, 86, formerly of Hutchinson, died September 20, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Lawson, MO. &nbsp;She was born April 4, 1938, in Memphis, TN, to Charles Ford and Grace Maxine (Henry) Spencer. &nbsp;

Margaret graduated from Messick High School, Memphis, TN, in 1956. &nbsp;She attended Memphis State University, before graduating from Baylor University in 1962 with her Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano. &nbsp;

On August 24, 1962, she married the Reverend C. Mitcheal Kennedy, a Presbyterian minister, in Memphis, TN. &nbsp;He died August 3, 1985.

Margaret was a professional piano accompanist. &nbsp;Her piano career started as a teenager in Memphis, TN, and continued throughout college. &nbsp;After graduating from college, Margaret was the staff accompanist at a graduate school of music in Fort Worth, TX. &nbsp;She later accompanied for the school district in Vinita, OK. &nbsp;Margaret and her husband moved to Hutchinson in 1983. &nbsp;She began accompanying private voice students, but her greatest enjoyment was accompanying anthems written for the piano and for the First Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir. &nbsp;Margaret was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson. She served on several committees at the church, was an elder, and a member of their Chancel Choir. &nbsp;Margaret retired from First National Bank, Hutchinson, in January, 2009.

Margaret is survived by: &nbsp;sons, Charles Kennedy of Overland Park and Joel Kennedy of Wichita; daughter, Meredith Tucker (Bo) of Lawson, MO and four grandchildren, Mitch Kennedy, Brooks Kennedy, Anna Tucker, Lila Tucker, William Tucker and Paige Renfrow; and four great-grandchildren, Bo Tucker, Carlee Tucker, Ziel Brown, and Kashous Kennedy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Spencer.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Elliott Chapel, with Denny Vick presiding. &nbsp;Private family inurnment will take place in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. William “Bill” Leon Teeter, 84, of Little River, KS, formerly of Lyons, KS, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, surrounded by family at the Waldron Place Assisted Living in Hutchinson.

He was born November 22, 1939, in Ravenna, NE, the son of Joseph William “J.W./Bill” and Dorothy Frances (Inlow) Teeter. Bill graduated from Marquette High School in 1957.&nbsp; On August 23, 1958, Bill was united in marriage to Linda L. Ellwood at the Church of Christ in Hutchinson, KS. This union was blessed with three children, Tammy, Mark, and Kent.

Bill was a farmer and stockman most of his life, retiring in 2005. He previously worked at the Lyons Co-op where he also served as a board member.&nbsp; He was a member of Windom Church of Christ.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Linda; three children, Tammy (Craig) Phillips of Ooltewah, TN, Mark (Pam) Teeter of Little River, KS, and Kent Teeter of Garden City, KS; siblings, Max Teeter of El Dorado, KS and Betty Grubb of Manhattan, KS; eight grandchildren, Morgan (Lyn) Williams, Jared (Brittney) Phillips, Jace (Hannah) Phillips, Shaun (Melissa) Teeter, Chris (Sara) Teeter, Jordan (Raena) Teeter, Trey (Sara) Teeter, and Teryn Teeter; 10 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Phyllis Webster and Jim Teeter.

William “Bill” Leon Teeter |1939-2024|

Neva Crotts, 97, passed away September 21, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village, KS. She was born January 1, 1927, to Russell and Gertie Showalter.

She graduated from Castleton High School. She married Herbert Crotts in 1947. He passed away in 2004 They were married 57 years.

She was a resident of South Hutchinson for 71 years. She was a homemaker, a cook at South Hutchinson Grade School, and a bookkeeper for King Brothers Oil Co.&nbsp;

Survivors are daughter Linda Hiebert of Hutchinson; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons; Norman and Gene Crotts; and five brothers and two sisters.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Partridge Cemetery. Friends may call 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

Marilyn Joyce Minter Wolgemuth, age 93, died September 17, 2024, at the Kidron-Bethel Health Care facility in North Newton, Kansas.

Marilyn was born December 16, 1930, to Samuel F. and Carolyn Luker Minter in Abilene, Kansas. She attended Chronister Grade School and Chapman High School. For her senior year, she attended Upland Academy in California. At Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania, she met J. Carl Wolgemuth. Marilyn went on to nursing school in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and after she graduated, she and Carl were married on March 27, 1954, in Abilene, Kansas.

Marilyn spent many years in ministry, beginning with four years with the Mennonite Central Committee as a Public Health nurse in the migrant camps in Coalinga, California. It was there they learned of Wycliffe Bible Translators and the need for translation teams to bring God’s Word to people who didn’t have the Bible in their heart language. Marilyn and Carl served with Wycliffe for 20 years, working with the Isthmus Aztec language in a village in southern Veracruz, Mexico. Chris Hurst took over the work they began, and in February 2017, the Isthmus Aztecs received the entire New Testament in their language. Chris says: “I would like to acknowledge the pioneering and compassionate work done by Carl and Marilyn among the Aztec people. They helped us immensely as we took over the work, giving us their time to jump-start language learning and sharing all their linguistic and translation materials with us. They were much loved among the Aztec people, and we were privileged to build on the good legacy they left.”

Besides the translation work, Marilyn labored many hours in the makeshift clinic in their home, treating everything from dysentery to pulling teeth and sewing ears back on after a drunken machete fight at the local bar.

Marilyn spent fifteen years as a psychiatric nurse in Texas and Kansas. She volunteered with the Kansas State Nurses Association Peer Assistance Committee, monitoring impaired nurses. She retired from Prairie View Mental Health Center in Newton, KS, in 1996 and then served three years on the Prairie View Board of Directors.

Marilyn was a member of the Shalom Mennonite Church in Newton and served there as a parish nurse for several years.

In February 2012, Marilyn was named Outstanding Member of the Newton Area American Association of University Women for her exemplary life of professionalism, perseverance, and caring.

Her hobbies included quilting, reading, travel, and quality time with family and friends. She truly loved her varied 59 years as a professional nurse. She authored three books detailing the various seasons of her life (available on Amazon.com): Barefoot Girl: A Kansas Sunflower’s Memoir (her growing up years); Bedpans and Backrubs (her nursing school years); God’s Talk: Bringing the Gospel to the Isthmus Aztecs of Mexico in Their Heart Language (their work in Mexico).

Marilyn delighted in sharing a meal or morning coffee with friends just to talk about whatever subject came up. The 7 PM chat group in the lobby every night was the highlight of her day. People often asked to speak with her when they were having troubles, and she always had a listening ear. She put online puzzles together every day and played UpWords with several friends at various times during the week to keep her mind sharp in her last years. She never tired of being outside in the warm sunshine or gazing at a full moon.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, a stillborn daughter, Joyce, and her husband, Carl.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Carolyn [Candi] (Warren) Bishop of North Platte, NE; two brothers Mahlon (Cathy) Minter of Telford, PA, and Mark (Glenna) Minter of Abilene, KS; a sister Lois (Ed) Hoover of Seneca, MO; five grandchildren: Jake (Brooke) Christopher of Pensacola, FL; Leah (Marc) Ramsey of Scott City, KS; Sharon (Juan) Gallegos of Norfolk, VA; and twins Dave and Joe Christopher. She also has ten great-grandchildren: Journey and Arden Christopher; Madrie, Callyn, Sadie, Asher, Emma, and Allie Ramsey; Everlynn and Bronson Gallegos.

A memorial service and celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on October 12, 2024, at 2:00 PM in Kidron Hall at Kidron-Bethel in North Newton, KS. In lieu of flowers, Marilyn wanted any memorial contributions to go toward the ongoing work with the Isthmus Aztec translation of the Old Testament. Gayle June Williams, 82, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away September 22, 2024, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas. 

She was born May 21, 1942, in Little River, Kansas, the daughter of Olan and Effie (Holler) Irvine. Gayle has resided in Buhler for the past twelve years, formerly of Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated from Little River High School, with the class of 1960, and received her registered nursing degree in 1963 from Mercy School of Nursing, Fort Scott, Kansas.

Gayle was a RN for the Hutchinson Clinic for many years. She is survived by her son, Bradley Williams and wife Jeanne of Kent, WA; brother, Keith Irvine of Haysville, KS; sister, Rosemary Bonin and husband Ed of Salina, KS; two grandchildren, Aubrey Williams and Payton Williams both of WA; great-granddaughter, Ivy Williams of WA; nieces; nephews; cousins; and special friend, Vickie Bornholdt of Hutchinson, KS. Gayle is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Steven Irvine.

Terry O’Dell, 59, passed away on Thursday, September 19th, 2024 in Wichita, Kansas. She was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp;

She was a hairstylist for many years. She enjoyed drag racing on the weekends, cooking, country music, being around family and her beloved dog Nemo, and later in life crocheting. She loved every person in her own way.

Preceded in death by Betty Scott her mother, Tracy Proffit her sister, and Todd Platt her brother.

Kurtis Richard Koenigsman, 56, of Hutchinson, died September 23, 2024, at his home. He was born September 18, 1968, in Osborne, to Richard E. and Darla K. (Streit) Koenigsman.

Kurt graduated from Tipton Catholic High School in 1987 and from Hutchinson Community College following. Kurt proudly served the City of Hutchinson for 31 years, where he retired in 2022 as the Central Garage Superintendent. Family was most important to Kurt, spending his time with his wife and providing life guidance to his sons. Kurt’s proudest moments were cheering on his sons through their sports careers and watching them graduate from The University of Kansas and Oklahoma State University. Kurt was ecstatic to become a grandfather in the upcoming months to his first grandson. He was actively involved at Trinity Catholic High School, serving on the school board and booster club, of which he was president for many years. Kurt was a longtime member of Church of the Holy Cross and Knights of Columbus Council #612.

On August 18, 1990, he married Donice M. Kitson, in St. Leo. She survives.

Kurt is survived by: his wife of 34 years, Donice; sons, Brandon Koenigsman (Chelsea) of Sedgwick, Eric Koenigsman (Cassidy Galloway) of Hutchinson; expecting grandson; parents, Richard and Darla Koenigsman of Bel Aire; brother, Robert Koenigsman (Kathy) of Wichita; sister, Gina Hansmann (Tony) of Rogers, Arkansas; 5 nieces and nephews; a great niece &amp; nephew; constant companion, Izzy; and grand-puppies, Lyla, Dano, Daisy, and Tripp.

Virginia Lucille (Guild) Rexroad, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, in Hutchinson, on September 17, 2024. In her 91 years, she was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. &nbsp;

Virginia was born August 12, 1933 in Winfield, KS, to Frank and Halcyone Guild. She had two older sisters, Frances Jean who did not survive birth, and Gwenda Lea Guild Pratt.&nbsp;

Virginia was raised in Winfield, and graduated from Winfield High School in 1951. She attended Oklahoma State University as a business major, and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was active in music during her school years, playing flute in band, orchestra, and ensembles. She played piano for her own enjoyment throughout her life. &nbsp;

She married William (Bill) D. Rexroad on February 22, 1953. They were married for 61 years. Bill and Virginia knew each other growing up in Winfield and started dating at the end of their senior year in high school. &nbsp;Virginia and Bill had four children: Susan J. Byler (Roger) of Topeka, KS, David C. Rexroad (Christina) of Hutchinson, KS, Gary A. Rexroad (Angie) of Lawrence, KS, and Joseph B. Rexroad of Chipita Park, CO. Together they had eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. They also had many beloved nieces and nephews. Virginia also had a special relationship with her sister’s daughter, Pam Herr (Mike) of Cascade, CO.

Virginia was predeceased by her parents, her sister, and her husband.&nbsp;

Over the course of her life, Virginia was a devoted mother to her four children. &nbsp;She worked at Hutchinson Community Junior College for a period of time. &nbsp;In 1978, she, her husband Bill, and son Gary, started the company, Electrex, Inc. which makes electrical wiring harnesses. After retiring, Virginia did volunteer work through R.S.V.P. in Hutchinson. &nbsp;In 1995, she signed on as volunteer office worker for the Hutchinson Police Department and worked there for nearly twenty years. &nbsp;She received awards of recognition for her volunteer work, including the President’s Volunteer Service award in 2010. &nbsp;Virginia was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. &nbsp;She was a Stephen Minister, a Disciple of Bible Study, and involved with Walk to Emmaus.

Virginia loved to swim, to go for walks, to do and teach Tai Chi and chair yoga, was an avid gardener, and loved to cook vegetarian. Virginia loved to play games with her family and friends, especially Mexican Train Dominos, Rumicube, Quirkle, and Mahjong on Sunday afternoons. She was also an amateur archeologist and volunteered for years on digs throughout Kansas, sponsored by the Kansas Anthropological Association. She also participated in digs at a slave quarters in Tennessee, and a dinosaur find in Montana. One of her greatest pleasures in life was a chai latte at Metro Coffee Shop in Hutchinson. She loved to be included in any activity possible with her kids and grandkids. &nbsp;She was the kindest, most loving, and compassionate person we have ever known.&nbsp;

Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Elliott chapel, with Reverend Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp;

She was also an amateur archeologist and volunteered for years on digs throughout Kansas, sponsored by the Kansas Anthropological Association. She also participated in digs at a slave quarters in Tennessee, and a dinosaur find in Montana. One of her greatest pleasures in life was a chai latte at Metro Coffee Shop in Hutchinson. She loved to be included in any activity possible with her kids and grandkids. &nbsp;She was the kindest, most loving, and compassionate person we have ever known.&nbsp;Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Elliott chapel, with Reverend Kim Biery officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Dixie L. Versolenko of Valley Center, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. 

 She was born on Monday, January 21, 1946 to James and Marcia (Henricks) Snavely of Neodesha, Kansas. She graduated from Valley Center High School in 1964 and completed her Bachelor of Science Degree at Friends University, Wichita, Kansas in 1992. Dixie married Ace H. Todd in 1967. 

She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and then AT&amp;T from 1968 to 1998.  After retiring she moved to Salem, Oregon.  Dixie found love again and married Alvin G. Versolenko in her Salem home on May 20, 2000. 

They soon moved to rural Monmouth, Oregon, which Dixie discovered her passion for horses. They owned Hidden Haven Horse Ranch for six years until Dixie's accident with one of her horses which tempered her enthusiasm. 

 They then moved into Dallas, Oregon in 2007. Dixie also had a love of dogs and there were always at least two running under her feet or lying on her lap. Dixie and Al enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel all over the United States. 

Dixie delighted in her flower beds and spent many hours working in them.  She loved visiting and laughing with family and friends.  Her hobbies included dancing, reading, sewing, movies and spending time in the mountains of Oregon. 

Dixie and Alvin divorced in 2018, and she relocated to Harlingen, Texas, residing there for four years. She then returned to her home town of Valley Center, Kansas where she finally truly enjoyed retirement and being single. 

 Preceding Dixie in death were her parents. Surviving her is her family of friends. 

 A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 5, 10:00 a.m., at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, 100 S. Cedar, Valley Center, Kansas.

George Andrew Ledom, Jr., age 97, of Buhler, Kansas, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024 in his assisted living apartment at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community.

He was born on Thursday, July 28, 1927 in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of George Andrew and Hazel Iva (Brown) Ledom, Sr. He was born in the bedroom of the house his father bought in 1926. When George

was about 2 years old, his father bought 80 acres northwest of Ottawa and rented out the house in town to an aunt and uncle. About 6 years later, his father moved the family back to their house in Ottawa. In July 2023, at 95 years young, George sold the family house and moved away from the home and city he knew like the back of his hand. Leaving Ottawa was extremely difficult for him, but it was time to move on

to a new life, to be near his younger daughter and her husband, to wait for God to take him Home.

George graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1945. That summer while George was working at a downtown tin shop, Mr. E. C. Quigley from Kansas University, visited, wanting him to play

basketball at KU. George received a letter from Mr. Quigley and one from Phog Allen, the KU coach. As tempting it was to play basketball at KU, George chose to attend Ottawa University, graduating in 1949.

In late 1948, OU student George spotted a beautiful woman crossing Main Street. After some inquiries, he learned that she hailed from Denver, Colorado and she also attended OU. On Sunday, December 31,

1950, George was united in marriage with that beautiful woman, Margaret Lorene “Woody” Woodruff at her family’s home in Denver, Colorado. Much later in their lives, Woody suffered a stroke. George took

care of her for 9 years, learning to do laundry and cook. He became well known for his barbequed ribs and oatmeal bars. Eventually another stroke made it too difficult for George to care for her and she

Woody and George enjoyed a full life sharing thousands of hours laughing, hiking on their “40” south of town, feeding numerous dogs and cats, horses, birds and squirrels. But most of all, they loved sharing

their time and love with family and friends. George spent his last 14 months in Buhler and his love for family and friends was greatly reciprocated in visits, phone calls, and cards from those who loved him.

George worked thirty-two years as a civil engineer, working twenty-two years for the City of Ottawa as the city engineer until retiring in September 1989. Earlier he worked for the Gas Service Company and the

Kansas State Highway Commission. One of his most demanding and satisfying jobs was during late 1968 to early 1970, working for Kansas Department of Transportation as project engineer during the construction of the K-68 Highway bridge over the Marais Des Cygnes River in Ottawa.

He was a member of Ottawa First United Methodist Church, Ottawa Lodge #18, Ancient Free and Accepted Mason where he was Past Master; Union Chapter #15, Order of Eastern Star where he was Past Worthy Patron; Ottawa Elks Lodge #803, AARP, and Ducks Unlimited.

Along with his wife Woody, he was preceded in death by his parents George, Sr. and Hazel Ledom, brothers Jack Ledom and Robert Ledom, and son-in-law Michael Shaw.

George is survived by his daughters, Valerie Shaw (Art) of Hermleigh, Texas and Karla Hein (John) of Buhler, Kansas; grandsons, Micah Shaw (Aimee) of Canterbury, New Hampshire, and Matthew Shaw (Gaby) of Iquique, Chile; granddaughter, Emma Essery (Rob) of Garland, Texas; great granddaughter Catherine Shaw and great grandson Jack Shaw of Canterbury, New Hampshire.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Dengel &amp; Son Mortuary, Ottawa. The family will greet friends from 5:30-7:30pm, Wednesday, September 25, 2024, also at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa.

Merle E. Rose, 86, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024 at Grand Plains Skilled Nursing. He was born on June 7, 1938 in Pratt to Harlie and Ruby Jo (Ricks) Rose. Merle married Beth Irene (Wehling) Rose on November 26, 1960 in Isabel. They were married for 63 years.

Merle graduated from Cullison High School in 1957. After attending Pratt Community College for 1 year, he went on to Automotive School in Kansas City. He was drafted into the United States Army and served at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked as a mechanic and farmer. He was a member of Cullison United Methodist Church until closing and then Pratt First United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge #1451 and American Legion Post-Isabel. Merle served his community as a member of the Soil Conservation Board and Farm Bureau Board, Cullison Methodist Church Trustee Chair and Township #9 Treasurer. He enjoyed farming, traveling, going on a drive and hunting, especially with his brother, Floyd in the Rocky Mountains. He loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; daughter, Leigh Ann (Doug) Eubank of Kearney, Missouri; son, Shane (Sheri) Rose of Pratt; grandchildren, Mallory (Jordan) Gonzalez of Liberty, Missouri, Cole (Catherine) Eubank of New Bloomfield, Missouri, Zackary (Maddi) Rose of Meade and Mackenzie (Walker) Schrag of Derby; eight great-grandchildren with another on the way; sister in-law, Phyllis Wehling of Hutchinson; and numerous, nieces and nephews.

Merle is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd Rose; and great-granddaughter, Violet Jayde Rose.

Cremation has taken place. Janice graduated from Pratt High School in 1956. She worked for the City of Pratt. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Southwest 4-H Club Leader, T-Bird Club, Bonomi Club and EHU. She enjoyed her grandchildren, cooking, scrapbooking, traveling, crafting and shopping.

She is survived by her daughters, Lori (Kenneth) Kreutzer of Pratt and Jennifer "Jenny" (Jack) Hacker of Coats; grandchildren, Kenneth "Cole" (Megan) Kreutzer, Jonathan "Chase" (Ashlee) Kreutzer, Jessica (Rachel) Navarro, Devin (Emily) Hacker, Daniel (Jessica) Hacker and Jackie Redinger; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Perdue; siblings, Jimmy Greenstreet, Ida Mae Cochran, Lloyd Greenstreet and Ruth Ann Ferrin.

James Edward Titus, 82, of Wichita, Kansas entered his heavenly home on Saturday, September 14, 2024. He was born in Wellington, Kansas to James Robert Titus and Florence Ruth (Daily) Titus. He was raised in Cowley County, Sumner County and Sedgwick County. He took drafting in high school and after graduation at WSU. He was an engineer at Boeing, and then with Kansas Gas &amp; Electric (KG&amp;E) where he retired after 45 years. James was also a member of the Masons and Scottish Rite. &nbsp;

On November 9, 1963, he married the love of his life Jean (Waring) Titus. They raised their sons in the West Wichita area where he enjoyed spending time with them, even including them at the Model A Club where he started with his Dad and brother. He loved collecting car tags, attending gun shows, being an Assistant Scout Leader with the Boy Scout Club his boys were involved in. They enjoyed campouts and he helped start the Halstead Trappers Rendezvous with the Boy Scouts Quivira.

After 56 years of marriage, Jean preceded him on January 31, 2020. He was also preceded by his parents, and daughters-in-law Vonda Titus and Wendy Titus.

James is survived by his sons James O. Titus (Barb) of Halstead, Jeffery L. Titus (Deb) of Wichita, Jason D. Titus (Jessica) of Wichita, Robert Dodson (Connie) of Kechi; grandchildren: Christopher Titus, Nicole Bough (Thomas), Austin Titus, Amber Powers (Drew), Chelsey Titus, Corey Titus (Skiler), Casey Titus (Ashlyn), Chase Titus, Macy Trujillo (Kody), Danielle Titus and Payton Titus; 15 great grandchildren; brother Robert Titus and wife Sandi, nephew Rob Titus and niece Debbie McVey; many other family and friends.

Betina Mae “Tina” Ford, 61, died September 21, 2024, at her home in Valley Center, with her husband and daughter by her side. She was born November 22, 1962, in Hutchinson, to Ronald Eugene “Ron” Southards and Gracie Mae Walters.

Tina graduated from Pratt High School in 1980, and Sidney’s Hairdressing College. &nbsp;She most recently worked over 12 years as a paraeducator for Valley Center High School. &nbsp;Tina enjoyed reading all types of genres, making crafts, and always had music playing from her Pandora account. Most of all, she cherished her time spent shopping and receiving pedicures with her daughter and granddaughter.&nbsp;

On December 12, 1981, she married Russell “Rusty” Ford, at Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

Tina is survived by: &nbsp;her husband of almost 43 years, Rusty of Valley Center; daughter, Meghan Graham (Ian); granddaughter, Ava Graham, all of Wichita; stepmother, Kay Southards of South Hutchinson; brother, Alan Southards of Lawrence; sister-in-law, Chanin Aumiller (David) of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: her father, Ron Southards; her mother, Gracie Walters; &nbsp;and a son, Randall J. “Randy” Ford.&nbsp;

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2024, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Mark Summers officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Evelyn L. “Evie” Seybert 76 died September 23, 2024, at her Newton residence. She was born November 2, 1947, to Preston and Nellie Bolmer. She was raised by her mother Nellie and Step-Father William “Bill” Oxford. Evie attended church school and college in Dodge City, Kansas. She became a Para for special education which she truly loved. One of Eveyln’s greatest joys was spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. Being there Nana was her favorite title.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Betty Richardson and Phyllis Clark.

Survivors include daughter Kandi (wife Lisa Yearwood) Dietrich, sons Justin (wife Kayla) Seybert and Steven Pope, five wonderful grandchildren Jake, Addie, Emma, Charlie and Ember, brother Virgil (Cathy) Oxford, nieces and nephews and a multitude of caring friends who prayed with her and loved her.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday September 27, 2024, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chip Bungard officiating. Private family interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice of Charity and left with Petersen Funeral Home.

Karen Kay (LeRoy) Westhusin passed away on September 21, 2024, at Redbud Village in Plainville, KS, at the age of 60. She was born on October 21, 1963, to Kenneth Ray and Orpha Alice (Witt) LeRoy in Great Bend, KS. Karen married Fred R. Westhusin on December 29, 1995, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. They were blessed with two children: Isaac and Kathryn.

Karen grew up on a farm by Hudson, KS. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1982. She then attended Barton Community College where she received her Associate’s Degree as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant.

From a young age, Karen’s passion for flowers blossomed during a floral class in high school, sparking a lifelong dream of owning a flower shop. She brought that dream to life by crafting her own wedding flowers. Karen was skilled in various crafts, including knitting and crocheting, often creating heartfelt gifts for family and friends.

An active volunteer, Karen dedicated her time to the local food pantry, blood drives, and funeral dinners, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. She also served as past member of the DOI and was a member of the Rooks County Health Center Auxiliary.

Outside her professional and volunteer endeavors, Karen cherished moments spent camping, attending the Rooks County Fair where her children showcased their animals, and traveling to visit family. She had a special tradition of baking and mailing sugar cookies to her nieces and nephews on Valentine’s Day and holidays, spreading sweetness and love.
