Clifford Allen Betts, 75, passed away on October 27, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born on March 19, 1950, in Herlong, CA, the son of Henry Allen and Patsy Louise (McClintic) Betts.

Cliff graduated from Herlong High School in 1968 and later attended Junior College in Susanville, CA and Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS. He worked as a machinist for Consolidated Manufacturing for over 20 years. On December 24, 1973, Cliff married Lilah Moore in Hutchinson.

Cliff was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed archery, watching westerns and reading Louis L’ Amour books.

Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Lilah; daughter, Diann (Cagdas) Bayindir; sister, Mary (Gary) Marlow and a granddaughter, Hannah Allen.

Norman Dee “Norm” Lauver, 101, died at his residence on October 24, 2025. He was born October 11, 1924, in Cottonwood Falls, KS, to Dee Seth and Alma Lydia (Nafzinger) Lauver.

Norman graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1942 and attended Hutchinson Community College and Wichita State University. On June 20, 1943, he married Betty Jean Harrison in Hutchinson, she died July 8, 2008. He was a production manager for Kraus Plow until he retired. Norm enjoyed traveling, camping and woodworking.

Norman is survived by: son, Dan (Janette) Lauver; grandchildren, Josh (Melinda) Lauver, Deena Lauver, Barbie (John) Crabtree, Becky (Danny) Johnson, Donielle (Daryn) York; 7 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Norman is preceded in death by: wife; daughter, Rachel Speer; and parents.

Sharon cherished being a grandmother; she was giving, loving and caring person.&nbsp;

Sharon is survived by: her daughters, Angela (Ron) Simmons of Pretty Prairie, and Stacie Petty of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Alyssa Nava, Myranda Shultz, Harley Petty, Ashley Davis, Jordan Gilbert and Nikeya Simmons; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother Ronald Folk; and sister-in-law, Janice Folk.

Bradley Lynn Lofland, 69, passed away September 28, 2025, at Roper St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.

He was born January 25, 1956, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Charles and Janet Lofland. He graduated from Greeley High School in Greeley, Colorado, in 1974.

Brad served honorably in the United States Navy from March 17, 1977, to February 27, 1983, as a Medic at the Navy Hospital in Charleston, SC. Following his military service, he continued his life of service as a Senior Paramedic with Berkeley County EMS, Charleston County EMS, and later with Roper Life Link from which he retired in May 2022.

Brad had a deep love for life and a wide array of interests. He enjoyed woodworking, cycling, racquetball and tennis, traveling to both familiar and new destinations, and was an avid lover of music, movies, and books. He used his life and career not only to save lives but to touch and change them. Brad’s dedication, compassion, and care will be remembered by all who knew him.

Brad is survived by his: children, Brian A. Lofland of Houston, Texas, and Sarah E. Lofland of Barboursville, West Virginia; their sister, Rebecca Harmon of Tempe, Arizona; their mother, Libby Harmon of Charleston, SC; beloved granddaughter, Abigail Johnisee of Charleston, SC; and his sisters, Cheryl Proffitt of Haven, Kansas, and Belinda Taylor and her husband, Allan, of Topeka, Kansas, along with their families.

DeeAnn Carroll Fabin, 82, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away October 21, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born January 24, 1943, in Sterling, the daughter of Harry Floyd and Arlene Eva (Beardslee) Porter. 

DeeAnn was a lifelong Sterling resident. She graduated from Sterling High School and later received her registered nursing degree (RN) from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Wichita. DeeAnn worked as an RN at the Sterling Hospital and Sterling School district. She was the director of nursing at Presbyterian Manor, Sterling, and a nurse at Bob Johnson’s Youth Shelter in Hutchinson, retiring in 2006. DeeAnn was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Sterling. She enjoyed reading and playing cards and dominos with her friends. 

On October 17, 1964, DeeAnn was united in marriage with Mike Fabin in Lyons, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2016. She is also preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Kaye Kilgore. DeeAnn is survived by her two children, Laura Yoder and husband Jay of Hutchinson, KS, and Drew Fabin and wife Kara of Lawrence, KS; three grandchildren, Zach Fabin and wife Alayne, Emily Ewing and husband Luis, and Adam Yoder; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Bennett. 

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 27, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, Sterling, with Pastor Amy Foster officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M., Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.

Winnie Redawn “Wendy” Stude, 61, of Nickerson, died October 21, 2025, at her home. She was born May 9, 1964, in Hutchinson, to Donald B. and Retha L. (Killian) Starnes.

Wendy graduated from Hutchinson High School and Butler Community College. She was the owner/operator of Blume Kennels in Nickerson from 1991-2003. Wendy then became a substance abuse counselor at the Women’s Recovery Center in Hoisington for 10 years and then at Larned State Hospital before her health began to decline. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family and her dog. Wendy also loved to do diamond painting and collecting crystals.&nbsp;

She is survived by: her children, Austin Riley of Great Bend, Lacey Brown of Nickerson, Christopher Blume of Nickerson; grandchildren, Chanler Riley, Tessa Riley, Trista Riley, Auto Koeppen, Aura Brown; nephews, Mikeal Starnes (Hollie), Kyle Stewart (Chelcee) and their children of Hutchinson; loving companion, Gary Presley of Nickerson; son-in-law, David Brown of Hutchinson; stepfather, Everett Graber of Hutchinson; and beloved Pitbull, Ruby.

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Becky Starnes-Corley.

A Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2025, at Elliott Chapel, with Chaplain Tom Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery.

Jerald Wayne Newboles, age 73, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away on October 17, 2025. He was born on December 24, 1951.

Jerald dedicated 25 years of service to Morton Salt and served honorably in the Air Force for 8 years. Jerald graduated from Hutchnson High School and went on to further his education at Hutchinson Community College. His professional and military commitments stood testament to his discipline and dedication.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Jerald enjoyed fishing, car races, and cherished moments spent with friends and family. His presence brought joy and camaraderie to those around him, creating lasting memories in the hearts of many.

Jerald is survived by his son, Nathan Newboles; grandchildren, Kamryn, Jedidiah, and Dominic Newboles; siblings, Wava (Jimmy) Thompson, James (Diane) Newboles, Larry Newboles, Terrell (Jackie) Newboles, and Shelaine Newboles Russell; as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Alberta Newboles; and a sister Debra Newboles.

Wilson Lee West, 90, died Monday, October 20, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson. He was born May 24, 1935, in rural Amy, KS, to Wilson and Bessie (Sharp) West.

Growing up on the family farm in rural Lane County, KS, Lee attended Dighton High School, Dighton, KS, and graduated in 1953. After high school, Lee proudly joined the Kansas National Guard, and after serving his country for 27 years, he retired in 1999 as a Sgt. E5. In Hutchinson, Lee worked as a laborer COOP grain Elevators, and as a custodian for USD 308 school district and Hadley Day Care Center.

Lee enjoyed watching any sports, even if he had no favorite team. Him and Sandra enjoyed watching NASCAR together, their favorite part was the thrill of the unexpected crashes. Each year, Lee anticipated Christmastime, he volunteered for the Salvation Army and loved to ring the bells for donations, his compassionate smile and infectious greetings brought many donations to his bucket and sometimes even hot cocoa. Lee was truly a caring man, when his daughter, April delivered newspapers, Lee walked alongside her for the entire paper route to make sure she made it home safely, he did it for his son, Andrew as well. Those gestures were small, but meant so much to his family. &nbsp;

On October 4, 1969, Lee married Sandra Kay Lock in Hutchinson. They shared over 54 years of marriage prior to her death on February 26, 2023.

Lee was a member of Countryside Baptist Church, Hutchinson for several years, and later joined Faith United Methodist, Hutchinson after his marriage to his wife, Sandra.

Lee is survived by: his children, Andrew West and April (Daniela Manigan) West; brother, Gary (Marilyn) West; grandchildren, Alissa McVey, Adam McVey, and Rayne Hedrick; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Sandra; parents; daughter, Amy; and brother, Tracey.

Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life and inurnment will take place at a later date.

Robert D. “Bob” Hickman, 68, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson, Kansas from complications of cancer.&nbsp;

Bob was born in Greeley, Colorado on December 15, 1956, to C.J. (Jim) and Shirley D. (Delbridge) Hickman. He spent the early years of his life growing up with his siblings on a cattle ranch in Keota, Colorado which cultivated the beginning of his lifelong interest in nature. His family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1967.&nbsp;

Bob and his brother joined the Boy Scouts in elementary school in Grover, Colorado. Both of his parents were scout leaders for their troops. Bob was an Eagle Scout with a distinction of Order of the Arrow. He was a camp counselor at Ben Delatour Scout Ranch, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. The summer before high school graduation, Bob was also a camp counselor at Treasure Mountain Boy Scout Camp in Driggs, Idaho which marked a capstone to his time in scouting.&nbsp;

After finishing high school, Bob moved to Kansas to attend Sterling College. Bob graduated from Sterling College in 1979. Thereafter, he moved to Hutchinson and attended MICT school through Hutchinson Hospital.&nbsp;

Bob would meet his future wife, Geri Rietcheck, at the Hutchinson Hospital where she worked. They married on July 30, 1988 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson. The couple began their life together in Bob’s home on the outskirts of Hutchinson with his dog, Al, who shared Bob’s even disposition. Within a few years the family was joined by two children. Bob held a variety of safety and environmental jobs. He retired from KFSA where his client was Mid Kansas Coop.&nbsp;

Bob was a gifted storyteller, amateur astronomer, light-hearted humorist, and unofficial family historian. He was a lifelong learner, avid reader of National Geographic magazine, and knowledgeable conversationalist complemented by a subtle wit and good-natured disposition. Bob was often one of the smartest guys in the room although it would be difficult to recognize from his unassuming nature and easygoing presence.&nbsp;

Bob is survived by: &nbsp;his wife of over 37 years, Geri of Hutchinson; daughter, Emily Hickman of Denver, CO; son, Ryan Hickman of Lawrence; sister, Joyce, Abrames of Tampa, FL; brother, James “Bill” Hickman of Loveland, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Deborah Hickman.

Cheryl Kay McCown, 78, died October 18, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 26, 1947, in Hutchinson to Loren C. and Velma L. (Bearden) McCown.&nbsp;

Cheryl was a Hutchinson High School graduate. She worked as an operator at Tyson’s and Doskocil, before retiring and working at Skaets Steak Shop. Cheryl’s cooking at Skaets brought joy to the Hutchinson community for many years. She loved her two dogs, Storm and Sweet Pea. Cheryl cherished spending time with her “adopted “family, Tammy and five grandchildren.

Cheryl is survived by: her nephew, Jeffrey Bishop; adopted family, Tammy Tidd and Jarrod Mayfield of Hutchinson, and their children, Jadda Tidd, Sequoia, Karin, Axle, Jenzen Mayfield; and her Skaets Family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Donna; and brother, Virgil.

Born August 31, 2024, to Tiffany Makey and Travis Haydon, Tayton’s life was a living miracle. Diagnosed with Trisomy 18, she defied every odd and became a beacon of hope and strength. Her journey was marked by courage, grace, and a sparkle that touched every heart that knew her name.

Tayton had a way of making the world stop and smile. Her eyes sparkled like sunlight through clouds, and her beautiful, cheeky grin carried a light and joy far bigger than her tiny frame. She loved watching Moana with her dad, and the cheerful voice of Ms. Rachel was a daily sound in her home. Tayton was fierce, sweet, strong, and perfectly particular about who she let near her and how things must go. A true boss baby.

Her Mama was her lifeline, her advocate, her constant, and her safest place. Tayton always knew her mother’s arms were where she belonged. In those arms she found her calm, her courage, and her home.

After months in the hospital, Tayton blossomed during the precious time she spent at home — surrounded by family laughter and the peace of ordinary days made holy by love. She was baptized in her Mama’s embrace the Friday before she passed, a sacred moment marking her journey from earthly light to eternal life.

Tayton is deeply loved and forever cherished by her parents, Tiffany Makey and Travis Haydon; her big sister and greatest cheerleader, Payton Makey; her big brother and protector, Braxton Makey; and her Nana Annette, all of Hutchinson. She is forever loved and remembered by her Aunt Taylor and Uncle Chris of Desloge, Missouri; Aunt Katie and Uncle Lance of Hutchinson; and the amazing cousins between them.

She joins in Heaven her beloved Aunt Tearia, Uncle Kyle, Great Uncle Mike, and many grandparents who welcomed her home.

Alex W. Macleod, died October 15, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born January 4, 1932, in Dunoon, Scotland.

Alex is survived by: &nbsp;his spouse, Judy Macleod of Hutchinson; son and daughters from previous marriage, Ian Macleod, Una Macleod and Fiona Macleod; three grandsons, Matthew Goins, Alec Macleod, and Connor Macleod; granddaughter, Anne Macleod; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Patterson, Brian Bevington, and Harrison Goins.

He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his mother and father, Catherine (Livingston) Macleod and John Leo Macleod of Scotland/London, England; son from previous marriage, Ken Macleod; one sister, Etta Morss of London, England; and three brothers, Kenneth, Ronald, and Brian of Toronto, Canada.&nbsp;

Alex was raised in Dunoon, Scotland and educated at St. Munn’s Catholic School and Dunoon Grammar School. &nbsp;He was baptized at St. Munn’s Catholic Church. &nbsp;Due to the local economy, he left school in 1947 and was deployed ferrying army personnel and clearing ammunition from the west coast of Scotland. &nbsp;In 1948, Alex joined the British Merchant Marines and rose through the ranks to Second Mate. &nbsp;During this time, he saw most of the world. &nbsp;

Alex immigrated to Canada in 1957 and was employed by a farm manufacturing firm for 30 years. &nbsp;During that time, he received many promotions in Canada and the United States. &nbsp;Alex was transferred to England for two years and assessed the potential of establishing an “in-house” retail finance arm in the UK. &nbsp;He was promoted to sales manager for construction machinery in North America. &nbsp;Alex retired as sales director for the combine division in North America. &nbsp;For 20 years, he founded and operated B &amp; B Hydraulics, Inc. repair business with Mo Penny, finally retiring in 2007.

In 1955, Alex married Anne McVicar Matheson, in Scotland. &nbsp;He later married Judy Lister, in Des Moines, IA. &nbsp;They lived in Wichita a year before moving to Hutchinson.

Alex was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on the church council and as an elder. &nbsp;During that time, he volunteered calling on shut-ins of church members. &nbsp;In addition, Alex was a former member of the Hutchinson Executive Association, Hutchinson, Reno County Chamber of Commerce, and Crazy Horse Golf Club.&nbsp;

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastors Quentin Nuttmann and Henry Blickhahn officiating. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp; The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Macleod, died October 15, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born January 4, 1932, in Dunoon, Scotland.Alex is survived by: &nbsp;his spouse, Judy Macleod of Hutchinson; son and daughters from previous marriage, Ian Macleod, Una Macleod and Fiona Macleod; three grandsons, Matthew Goins, Alec Macleod, and Connor Macleod; granddaughter, Anne Macleod; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Patterson, Brian Bevington, and Harrison Goins.He was preceded in death by: &nbsp;his mother and father, Catherine (Livingston) Macleod and John Leo Macleod of Scotland/London, England; son from previous marriage, Ken Macleod; one sister, Etta Morss of London, England; and three brothers, Kenneth, Ronald, and Brian of Toronto, Canada.&nbsp;Alex was raised in Dunoon, Scotland and educated at St. Munn’s Catholic School and Dunoon Grammar School. &nbsp;He was baptized at St. Munn’s Catholic Church. &nbsp;Due to the local economy, he left school in 1947 and was deployed ferrying army personnel and clearing ammunition from the west coast of Scotland. &nbsp;In 1948, Alex joined the British Merchant Marines and rose through the ranks to Second Mate. &nbsp;During this time, he saw most of the world. &nbsp;Alex immigrated to Canada in 1957 and was employed by a farm manufacturing firm for 30 years. &nbsp;During that time, he received many promotions in Canada and the United States. &nbsp;Alex was transferred to England for two years and assessed the potential of establishing an “in-house” retail finance arm in the UK. &nbsp;He was promoted to sales manager for construction machinery in North America. &nbsp;Alex retired as sales director for the combine division in North America. &nbsp;For 20 years, he founded and operated B &amp; B Hydraulics, Inc. repair business with Mo Penny, finally retiring in 2007.In 1955, Alex married Anne McVicar Matheson, in Scotland. &nbsp;He later married Judy Lister, in Des Moines, IA. &nbsp;They lived in Wichita a year before moving to Hutchinson.Alex was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on the church council and as an elder. &nbsp;During that time, he volunteered calling on shut-ins of church members. &nbsp;In addition, Alex was a former member of the Hutchinson Executive Association, Hutchinson, Reno County Chamber of Commerce, and Crazy Horse Golf Club.&nbsp;Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastors Quentin Nuttmann and Henry Blickhahn officiating. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. &nbsp;Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. &nbsp; The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.Memorials are&nbsp; suggested to&nbsp; Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or New Beginnings, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Rose Mayree Bridgeman Holcomb passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, in Hutchinson, at the age of 97. She was born on the family farm southwest of Abbyville on November 5, 1927, to Leonard Bridgeman and Edith (Ehling) Bridgeman.

A 1945 graduate of Abbyville High School, Rose completed two years of college at Hutchinson Junior College, followed by three years of training at Wesley School of Nursing in Wichita. Graduation took place on September 1, 1950, followed by her wedding to Glenn Theron Holcomb on September 2. With her parents sacrificing for her schooling, Rose chose to keep her wedding simple. Her sister, Charlyne, hosted the wedding at her home with the rest of her family making it a very special and memorable day for her. Here she began a new chapter of a very full and busy life, fulfilling the roles of farmer’s wife, mother, night-shift nurse, High School Sunday School teacher along with other functions in the church, and later a grandmother and great-grandmother. After working more than 35 years at Stafford Hospital, she retired but still stayed busier than she ever expected. Life was full. Yet somehow, in all her roles, she was never pulled in too many directions to live out each role to its fullest. And in all of this, what&nbsp;motivated her the most to serve wholeheartedly was her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ.&nbsp;

Rose was an active church member all her life, serving in various capacities, starting at Abbyville Methodist Church. Upon marriage, she and Theron were active in the Plevna Methodist Church, followed by the last few decades at the Plevna Community Bible Church.

In Rose’s 72nd year of marriage, Theron preceded her in death, passing away in 2023. She was also preceded by two of her sisters and their husbands, Charlyne (Warren) Wilt, Marjory (Reed) Garrett; her brother, Duane Bridgeman; and her brothers-in-law, Gordon Groth, Clifford “Pinky” Busick, and Ronald Haag.

She is survived by: her four sons, Kent (Virginia) Holcomb of Derby, Mark (Karla) Holcomb of Chicago, Gregg (Gail) Holcomb of Plevna, and Kyle (Wendy) Holcomb of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Milbry Haag; her sister and brother-in-law, Connie Busick Depew (Bill); and her sister-in-law, Helen Bridgeman.

A service to celebrate Rose’s life will be held at Plevna Community Bible Church, 110 W. 3rd., Ave., Plevna, Kansas, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. A slide show with highlights of her life will be shown before and after the service. Visitation will take place after the service.

Ezra J. “J.R.” Yoder, 88, of South Hutchinson, went to meet the Lord, on October 15, 2025, at Mennonite Friendship Communities. He was born July 21, 1937, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, to Ezra Sr. and Jemima (Mullet) Yoder.

Ezra grew up in the Old Order Amish church and was a member of Plainview Mennonite Church for many years. He worked as a custodian for Elreka Grade School and Partridge Elementary School. Later in life, Ezra would transport members of the Amish community to visit friends and relatives to different places. He enjoyed spending his free time hunting and loved fishing. Given the opportunity, Ezra would be found at the closest watering hole with his fishing pole.

On November 26, 1959, he married Fern Yoder in Garnett, Kansas. They shared 65 wonderful years together before his death.

On March 29, 1980, Marietta married Michael Morris in Lyons, Kansas. They shared 45 beautiful years together before her death. Marietta and Michael moved to Hutchinson in 1984 and found their community here.&nbsp;

Marietta worked as a cook in various restaurants throughout her life. She enjoyed the solitude of fishing and loved to garden. After moving to Hutchinson, Marietta started gardening and found that she had a green thumb for tomatoes, peppers, and flowers. She was a very hard worker and was full of strength.&nbsp;

Marietta is survived by: beloved husband, Michael Morris of Hutchinson; sister, Lorna Tacelly; niece, Josoline Boy; and many beloved friends.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.&nbsp;

Memorial service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Friends may sign her book Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Weymeth L. “W.L.” Harrison, 88, died October 12, 2025, at Hospice House - Hutchinson. He was born December 1, 1936, on the family farm in rural Pratt County, to Henry E. and Opal E. (Henry) Harrison.

Weymeth graduated from Byers High School in 1954. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Education Degree from Fort Hays State University, Masters from Emporia State University and his Specialist Degree from Wichita State University. Weymeth, or as some knew him, W.L., was a middle school science teacher and later became the principal for Geneseo K-12. He loved farming. In 1972 he left education to go back to work on the family farm near Pratt, KS. He farmed until he retired. On August 13, 1961, he married Carol Elizabeth Parsons in Greeley, CO. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage. After retiring from farming, they liked traveling in their RV and visiting their relatives in Colorado. He enjoyed being outside doing yard work and drinking his daily morning coffee with friends.

Weymeth is survived by: his wife; nephew, Jeff Carlson; and niece, Julie Williamson.

He is preceded in death by: his parents; and brother, Edd Harrison.

Cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.

Frank Lamont “Monty” Stout, 76, passed away October 11, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. &nbsp;He was born June 23, 1949, to Donald and Patricia (Clough) Stout in Sterling, Kansas. &nbsp;

On March 11, 1978, Monty married Linda Motko. &nbsp;They celebrated over 47 years of marriage.

Monty was working at Dillon's warehouse when he heard the road calling. &nbsp;He attended Kansas City Driving School to become an “official” driver in 1972…not that he needed the piece of paper. He left Dillon's in 1978 to become an “outlaw” driver. &nbsp;Monty drove over 8.5 million miles and became friends with many drivers from all across the United States. &nbsp;He has now completed his final run.

Monty is survived by his: wife, Linda; children, Jacob Stout (Cat) of Hutchinson, Zachary Stout (Morgan) of Gardner, Monica Smiley (Todd) of Golden, MO, and two others from a previous marriage; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sheri Stout and Peggy Thomas.

He was preceded in death his: parents; daughter, Joey Tatro; and grandson, Tucker Stout.

Monty Stout |1949-2025|

Caroline Helen McKee, 87, formerly of Hutchinson, died October 11, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in McPherson. &nbsp;She was born March 10, 1938, in Wild Cherry, AR, to Raymond Orland and Grace Teresa (Conway) Shong.

Caroline graduated from Ellinwood High School, Hutchinson Community Junior College, and received her bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University. &nbsp;She worked over 20 years for the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS), in the Food Stamp program (now known as Kansas Department for Children and Families or DCF). &nbsp;After retiring from SRS, Caroline worked at the Hutchinson Public Library. &nbsp;She was elegant, yet onery, and enjoyed riding on the back of her son, Christopher’s motorcycle. &nbsp;Caroline also had an appreciation for horses, plants, and cats. &nbsp;She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Caroline was of the Catholic faith.

Caroline is survived by: &nbsp;son, Christopher McKee (Rhonda) of McPherson; daughter, Teresa Schartz of Texas; grandchildren, Devin McKee (Amanda) of Bennington, KS, Kaley McKee of Moundridge, Jonas Jones of Texas, and Candace Valadez (Kristopher) of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Brooke McWhorter, Brady McKee, Bryley Roush, Brett Edwards, and Brin Edwards; and her two spoiled feline babies.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; stepfather, Raymond H. Cox; brothers, Russell Shong and Richard Shong; and sister, Stella Owens.

 </figure>Caroline Helen McKee, 87, formerly of Hutchinson, died October 11, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in McPherson. &nbsp;She was born March 10, 1938, in Wild Cherry, AR, to Raymond Orland and Grace Teresa (Conway) Shong.Caroline graduated from Ellinwood High School, Hutchinson Community Junior College, and received her bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University. &nbsp;She worked over 20 years for the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS), in the Food Stamp program (now known as Kansas Department for Children and Families or DCF). &nbsp;After retiring from SRS, Caroline worked at the Hutchinson Public Library. &nbsp;She was elegant, yet onery, and enjoyed riding on the back of her son, Christopher’s motorcycle. &nbsp;Caroline also had an appreciation for horses, plants, and cats. &nbsp;She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Caroline was of the Catholic faith.Caroline is survived by: &nbsp;son, Christopher McKee (Rhonda) of McPherson; daughter, Teresa Schartz of Texas; grandchildren, Devin McKee (Amanda) of Bennington, KS, Kaley McKee of Moundridge, Jonas Jones of Texas, and Candace Valadez (Kristopher) of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Brooke McWhorter, Brady McKee, Bryley Roush, Brett Edwards, and Brin Edwards; and her two spoiled feline babies.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by: &nbsp;her parents; stepfather, Raymond H. Nellie May Rinkel, 75, the daughter of George and Velma Hackler, was born on April 20, 1950, in Beaver, Oklahoma. &nbsp;She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. &nbsp;She graduated from Sylvia High School in 1969. She was a part of Sylvia High School's final graduating class. While in school, she enjoyed playing sports and working on the family farm. After graduating, she moved to Hutchinson, Kansas, and held various positions, including working at a yarn shop, laundromat, and Lowen Sign Company.

On November 14, 1970, she married Stanley Royce Rinkel. What started as a blind date ended in 54 years of marriage. Nellie and Stan embraced traveling adventures, exploring the back roads of Colorado, Texas, and Missouri on motorcycles and camping along the way. One of her passions was spending time outside in the garden, growing vegetables and flowers. Before having children of their own, they fostered. They were blessed with raising four children. Nellie's greatest joy was her family. There were no obstacles too big when it came to Nellie's devotion to her children. In addition to all the normal motherly duties, Nellie homeschooled her children. She learned to swim at the age of 38 to teach her daughter, and she later became a lifeguard.

Nellie was a member of the Church of Christ. She spent her time serving various ministries, including the soup kitchen, bus program, VBS, clothing room, and WBS ministry. Her faith guided her throughout all of life's challenges.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Velma Hackler; daughter Vicky Rinkel, and brother-in-law Mike Suiter.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Rinkel, her children; Chari Rinkel, Samuel Rinkel (Brittany) and Chris Rinkel of Hutchinson; Sisters, Georgie (Tom) Barger of Houston, Margie Suiter of Greenville Texas; Brothers, Ralph (Debbie) Hackler and Bill (Shirley) Hackler of Hutchinson; Grandchildren; Cohen Evans, Cooper Rinkel, Jude McCullers and Adrian McCullers of Hutchinson; many nieces and nephews; a host of friends.&nbsp;

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, KS. After the service, there will be a “Cookies and Memories Celebration” at the Eastwood Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.&nbsp;

Wallace Eugene “Wally” Farthing, 89, died October 11, 2025, at The Arbors at Waldron Place, Hutchinson. He was born on January 30, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Lewis Sylvester and Lulu Wavey (Trotter) Farthing.

Wally graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954 and attended Hutchinson Community Junior College. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1958, serving for eight months. Wally worked at ADM Mill, Inman, for over 30 years, retiring as the supervisor of the mill. He enjoyed being the pitcher in his church’s softball league, as well as being a youth group leader. Wally was a Girl Scout Troop leader for his daughters’ troop. He enjoyed bowling with his bowling league on Thursday nights. Wally was a handyman and could fix everything that he worked on. He was an outdoorsman and loved spending time camping and fishing at Kanopolis Lake. Wally liked to hunt frogs, pheasants and quail. He had a servant’s heart; Wally loved to help everyone he met. Wally was a member of First Baptist Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp;

On December 29, 1958, he married Sarah Ann Pankratz, in Buhler. They shared over 38 years of marriage, prior to her death on June 28, 1997.

Wally is survived by: his children, Gena (Tony) Jones of Olathe, Maria Farthing of Arkansas City, Andrea (Scott) Ward of Hutchinson, Neil Farthing of Wichita; grandchildren, Brent (Eve) Ward, Rachel Ward, Cameron Ward, Andrew Jones, Trevor Jones and Sarah Farthing; great-grandchildren, Zoe Ward, Kenzie Ward, Conner Ward, Emily Ward and Arcadia Farthing; four nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; and brother, Howard Farthing.

Ann W. Smith, 86, of rural Inman, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, with family by her side.

She was born on March 11, 1939, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Marvin W. and Ida (Kingsley) White. Following her mother’s passing when Ann was just nine days old, her father later married Ida’s dear friend, Gertrude, who helped raise Ann as her own.

Ann graduated from McPherson High School and went on to earn both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Kansas. She dedicated 38 years to teaching mathematics, beginning her career in the Kansas City area in the early 1960s. In 1965, she joined the faculty at Hutchinson Community College, where she taught until her retirement in 2000. In recognition of her lasting impact on students and colleagues, she was the recipient of the Golden Dragon award, and in 2005, she was honored with the Distinguished Faculty Member award.

On July 20, 1963, Ann was united in marriage to Wayne Edward Smith at Prairie Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas. The couple began their married life in Lawrence before moving to the White family farm in 1965. Together, they were blessed with two sons, Jeffrey Wayne and Michael Scott. Ann and Wayne shared 57 years of marriage before Wayne’s passing on October 19, 2020.

Ann had a deep love for the family farm and remained actively involved, even driving the tractor until just a year and a half ago. Over the years, she witnessed and embraced many changes in farming technology. She was also a skilled cook—her bierocks, meatloaf, and fried chicken were family favorites.

Though private by nature, Ann cherished a close circle of dear friends. She and Wayne shared a love for travel, taking memorable trips to New Zealand, Australia, Alaska, and Hawaii. She also traveled through her involvement with the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In her free time, Ann enjoyed reading, sewing, and cross-stitching.
