Susie Belding, 79, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham. She was born on January 25, 1945 in Redfield, Iowa to Gilbert Lionel and Thelma (Ballinger) Beane. Susie married Larry Belding on December 31, 1966 in Redfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2012.

Susie graduated from Dexfield High School in Redfield, Iowa. She worked as a bookkeeper for Kanza Coop. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, reading and watching John Wayne films.

She is survived by her children, Kara (Richard) Davis of Arcadia, Florida and Blayne Belding of Mullinville; brothers, Keith (Norella) Beane of Lathrop, Missouri and Gary (Joan) Beane of Des Moines, Iowa.

Susie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Belding; and brothers, Lee Beane and Paul Beane.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 1:00 p.m - 5:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2024 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt with John Hamm presiding.

Hollis Lavonda Cochran, 63, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. 

Lavonda was born on July 17, 1960, in Parma, MO, the daughter of Charles F. Kerr and Ruth P. (Ford) Mendenhall. On November 14, 1998, she married Fred Cochran in South Hutchinson, KS. 

Lavonda graduated from Burrton High School in 1979 and attended Hutchinson Community College and graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing. Lavonda enjoyed planting a variety of plants and flowers in her gardens, and spending time with her grandkids. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth; stepfather, Keith Mendenhall; husband, Fred; brother, Scott Redger; and nephew, Thorne Redger. 

Lavonda is survived by her three children, Charles Brandon (Krystal) Meyer, Jeremy N. Meyer, Lacy D. (Damon) Grayson; brothers, Johnny Ford, Dennis (Leslie) Redger; sister, Sonja (Russ) Hammer; grandchildren, Devin, Kaden, Jayd, Cassadie, Alexis, Landen, Audriana, Riley, Mason and Mya.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Joel Grizzle officiating. John P. Ludwick, 65, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at his home. He was born on October 31, 1958 in Wichita to Joseph Paul and Mary A. (Cioffi) Ludwick. John married Heather (Norton) Ludwick on May 11, 2013 in Cunningham. They were married for 11 years.

John attended Southeast High School in Wichita. He worked as a carpenter. He was a member of 99 Springs. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and being the comedic relief of his own story. He loved to be around family and outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Heather of 99 Springs; son, Joseph Anthony Ludwick of Havelock, North Carolina; stepchildren, Caity Cline of Manhattan, Kansas and Casen Cline of Perrin, Texas; four brothers; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date.

Joyce E. Koepplin, 80, of Salina, passed away peacefully at her home on June 28, 2024.&nbsp; She was born on September 27, 1943 in Salina, Kansas to Leo P. and Almetta D. (Nolind) Peiffer.

Joyce graduated from Salina High School and Brown Mackie Business College.&nbsp; She married Charles W. Koepplin on October 17, 1963.&nbsp; Joyce was a homemaker while Charles was finishing his service with the Airforce.&nbsp; Joyce then went on to spend a few years working at Montgomery Wards before starting her accounting career with Crestwood Cabinets.&nbsp; She went on to work for Salina Supply where she retired in 2006.&nbsp;

She loved her family very much.&nbsp; Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Koepplin, and her brother Loren Peiffer.&nbsp; She is survived by her sons David Koepplin and Scott Koepplin (Thresa); five grandchildren, Chesna (Matt), Erin (Russ), John (Jaide), Kara (Bre), Megan (Avery) and five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Lilah, Jensen, Jayden, and Evan.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Church of the Cross, 1600 Rush, Salina, Kansas.&nbsp;

Larry Dale Graham, 63, passed away July 1, 2024. Larry was born to Donald and Dorothy (Bell) Graham, May 15, 1961, in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy, his brothers, Danny Graham, Scott Graham, his sister-in-law Teresa (Scott) Graham, and his brother-in-law, Ray Harbold.

He is survived by his children, Dane (Amber) Graham of Arizona, Luke Graham of Hutchinson, and Jennifer (Steve Fierro) Graham of Arizona, his sister, Deanna (Guy Desmangles) Harbold-Desmangles, brother, Jerry (Debbie) Graham, grandchildren, Michael Brown, Nick Brown, Katelynn Brown, Bella Graham, Logan Graham, Brayden Graham, Zaydrian Graham, Monique Fierro, Gabriel Fierro, and several great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 11, at the Homebuilders Shelter in Carey Park, at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to cover his final expenses, and to contact Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home directly.

Larry Dale Graham |1961-2024|

Sharon May Kessler was born in Salem, West Virginia, on November 16, 1942 to Frank Propst and Dorothy Alma (Cutright) Propst. Sharon passed away on July 1st, 2024 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas due to complications while fighting lung cancer.

She graduated form North High, Wichita, Kansas in 1960. She went on to marry Richard James Mellott of Peabody, Kansas on June 11th, 1961. They were blessed with two children, Connie (Dutton) Mellott (Bill Dutton), Peabody and Rick Mellott (Kara Mellott) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, three grandchildren; Anda Entz (Danny Entz), Eric Dutton (Clarissa Dutton) and Chance Mellott. Four Great-grandchildren Benton and Case Entz, Alexa and Thomas Dutton.

Sharon later married Calvin E. Kessler on April 19, 1986. She is survived by her brother Larry Bake of Eldorado as well as several recent additions to the family. She was preceded in death by her husband Cal, mother Dorothy and three sisters Susie, Verna and Karen.

She enjoyed working a variety of jobs throughout her career, shw was able to retire from the Peabody Senior Center as the head cook after 20 years of service. She adored spending time with friends and family talking, but especially when it involved playing cards or other games.

Sharon will be greatly missed. A special thanks to the angels in disguise, including the family, friends and neighbors who were there with all their love and support for her and her family always.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024 at Petersen Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:00 Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Petersen Family Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date with the family.

Janet Rae Ryan, age 88, died July 1, 2024, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. She was born June 30, 1936, in Harper, KS to Raymond L. and Vivian B. (Patterson) Potts.

Janet graduated from Anthony High School, Anthony, KS in 1954. After her children were raised, Janet owned and operated Kiddies Korner Preschool and Plum Street Kids Kare in Hutchinson, teaching thousands of children throughout a nearly forty-year career. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hutchinson, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Janet was a board member of the Twin Oaks Boys Home and volunteered at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Hutchinson Hospital, and Cosmosphere.

She is survived by her husband, Harold D. Ryan, whom she married on December 24, 1953.

Also surviving are her daughters, Virginia Hoelting (Tim) of Shawnee, KS, Myrna Baird of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Stacy Romano (Vince) of Florence, OR, Holly Leiker, Sam Leiker (Halie) all of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Lucas Ryan Kappenman, Jack Thomas Leiker, Sofia Estelle Romano, Wesley Hayden Leiker, Camille River Romano, Andrew Scott Leiker; brother, Charles Potts (Marilyn) of Anthony; and several extended family members.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Leola Jean Thomas; and son-in-law, Kent Baird.

Cremation has taken place and graveside service at Spring Grove Cemetery in Anthony will be announced at a later date.

Rebel Dee Benton, 62, died June 27, 2024, at Legend of Hutchinson. She was born January 7, 1962, in Hutchinson, to Charles William Blackburn and Ellen Louise (Davis) Blackburn.

Rebel graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community Junior College and Tabor College, with a bachelor's degree of science in nursing. She was a seamstress for The Buckle. Rebel worked as a nurse for Hutch Hospital, Hutchinson Correctional Facility, Topeka Juvenile Detention Center and various nursing homes throughout Hutchinson, McPherson, Buhler and Manhattan. Rebel taught aerobics and water aerobics. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Rebel is survived by: sons, Devin Ojeda of Manhattan, Trevor Ukens of Wichita; 3 grandchildren; mother, Ellen Beachy of Hutchinson; brothers, Michael Blackburn of South Hutchinson, Nile Blackburn of Blackbear, CO, Joshua Blackburn of Jacksonville, FL and Kevin Blackburn of Missouri.&nbsp;

Rebel Dee Benton |1962-2024|

Paul (Butch) Henry Hugot Gibbs, 79, passed away June 18, 2024 in Ruskin, Florida. Butch was born to Pauline Marie Eversole and Paul Hugot on January 30, 1945 in Dodge City, Kansas.

His first 17 years were spent in Dodge City. He then moved to Zook, Kansas while attending and graduating from Macksville High School. After graduation, he worked farming. He moved to Larned, Kansas where he met and married the love of his life, Wanda Marie Smith on December 12, 1964. He and Wanda moved to Hutchinson, Kansas in 1968. He worked at General Heating and Air Conditioning. Later he worked at Doskocil in refrigeration maintenance.

Butch enjoyed golf and taking trips on his motorcycle until his health would no longer allow it. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and playing poker. He will be greatly missed by all the friends he made doing these activities.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda, son David, daughter in law Christina, grandsons Colton and Connor, all Ruskin, FL; five sisters, Lavinia Houdeshell, Hutchinson, KS, Sandy Clausen, Canada, Bonita Sickafoose, Montana, Donita Larson, Montana, Carolyn Lugenbeel, Florida; six brothers, Mike Montgomery, Oklahoma, Jeff Boles, Kansas, Tommy Hammons, Montana, Warren Hammons, Montana, Gary Gibbs, Colorado, Duff Gibbs, Wisconsin; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father; two brothers, Roy Hammons, Charles Hammons; four sisters, June Phillips, Allie Gibbs, Tammy Grevelee, and Bessie Hammons.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life may be scheduled at a later date.

He moved to Larned, Kansas where he met and married the love of his life, Wanda Marie Smith on December 12, 1964. He and Wanda moved to Hutchinson, Kansas in 1968. He worked at General Heating and Air Conditioning. Later he worked at Doskocil in refrigeration maintenance.Butch enjoyed golf and taking trips on his motorcycle until his health would no longer allow it. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and playing poker. Wayne E. Brawner, Jr, 74, of Hutchinson, died June 29, 2024, at his home. &nbsp;He was born January 3, 1950, to Wayne E and Rhea Dewater Brawner, Sr, in Waterloo, IA.

He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. &nbsp;After graduation, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Midway in Vietnam. &nbsp;Wayne began working for the Kansas Department of Corrections in 1973 retiring in 2009.

On March 27, 1973, he married Janet Proctor in Hutchinson. &nbsp;They shared just over 51 years together. &nbsp;She survives.

Wayne is survived by: wife, Janet of Hutchinson; and son, Scott and his wife Jeni of Castle Rock, Colorado.

As per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place.&nbsp;

Helen graduated from Lake City Intermediate School in 1947. She loved being a seamstress and made many of her family clothing pieces. She worked for Wal-Mart Shoe Department for 25 years before retiring. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing, especially 2-stepping with Bob.

She is survived by her sons, Charles Cushenbery of Newton, Steve Cushenbery of Cherryvale and Darrel (Jolene) Cushenbery of Goddard; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; previous husband, Lindle Dean Cushenbery; companion, Robert "Bob" Holt; sons, Jerry Cushenbery and Dennis Cushenbery; brother, Buster Moomau; sister, Icy Cary; and daughter in-law, Brenda Joyce Cushenbery.

&nbsp;Sharon Alyne Hillard, 81, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024 at Grand Plains Skilled Nursing in Pratt. She was born on August 26, 1942 in Frankfort, Kansas to Bernie and Della (Dalrymple) Phillippi. Sharon married Lewis Frank Hillard on February 27, 1966 in Wellington, Kansas. They were married for 58 years.

Sharon graduated from Wellington High School in 1961. She was a homemaker and member of the Old Glendale Union Church as well as Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis of Pratt; children, Scott (Chris Wiese) Hillard of Caballo, New Mexico and &nbsp;Kathrine Hillard of Medicine Lodge; sisters, Dianne (Marvin) Thomas of Pratt, Linda (Jeff) Hill of Wellington and Nancy (Bill) Frankum of Colorado; brother, Randy (Rita) Phillippi of Lawrence; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

William W. “Bill” Pickle, 86, passed away June 29, 2024, at Rice Co. District Hospital, Lyons, Kansas. He was born on July 13, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Arthur and Marie (Tucker) Pickle. In 1961, he married Annie Rowland; she passed in April 2003. Bill then married Cheryl Breeden on March 19, 2005. She survives.

He attended Bear Creek School in Jacksonville, Illinois, then proudly served in the United States Army as a mechanic and driver in the 9th Transportation Battalion, 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his time in the service, he landed in Great Bend, and worked for Doonan Truck and Equipment with their tow truck/wrecker department for 38 years prior to his retirement.

Bill was member of the American Legion Post 180, serving as past Post Commander, American Truck Historical Society, and Antique Caterpillar Owners Club of America.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Thomas Charles; three daughters, Pam Pennington of Goodland, Missy Seibert and Jennifer Seibert, both of Hutchinson; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by a grandson, Jody Allen Charles; his parents; brother, Raymond Pickle; and sister, Lucille Pickle.

Linda M. Harding, 84, of Lindsborg, KS and formerly of Abilene, KS, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, surrounded by family at Bethany Home, Lindsborg.

Linda was born on November 25, 1939, in Lindsborg, KS, the daughter of Carl Martin “Haggie” and Emily Mercedes (Train) Hagstrand. She graduated from Lindsborg Rural High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Bethany College.&nbsp; She later received her master’s degree from Kansas State University.&nbsp; Linda started her elementary teaching career in Colby, KS.&nbsp; She taught kindergarten for 24 years at Rural Center Elementary School near Abilene, KS before retiring in 1999.

On July 30, 1961, Linda was united in marriage to Bruce Lee Harding in Lindsborg. &nbsp;This union was blessed with three children, Troy, Katrina, and Inga. &nbsp;

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and sang in the local presentation of Handel’s Messiah for 38 years.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Bruce; three children, Troy Harding (Nancy) of Salina, KS, Katrina McGee of Cortez, CO, and Inga Craig (Danny) of Grants Pass, OR; a sister, Sarah (Robert) Sandquist of Newton, IA; seven grandchildren, Kirsten Harding McClintock (Matt), Erik Harding (Megan), Katlynn McGee Larson (Jason), Konnar McGee, Mason Craig, Annika Craig, and Grant Prichard (Hannah); seven great-grandchildren, Quinn, Wesley, &amp; Eva Harding, Hanley and Ailey McClintock, Jaxon Larson, and Cooper Prichard.

She was preceded in death by her parents Carl “Haggie” and Mercedes Hagstrand and son-in-law, Karl McGee.

Vera A. Sills 91 died June 27, 2024, at Paramount Health and Rehab in Newton. She was born September 11, 1932, in Hillsboro, Kansas to Peter and Martha (Knak) Schroeder. She married John Sills on April 26, 1953, and he preceded her in death.

Vera was a longtime active member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Newton. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, she worked at Southwestern Bell, food service at Newton High School and retired in 1992 from the former Friendly Acres Retirement Home dietary department. Vera was good at playing the piano and enjoyed singing in the church choir and the Newton Treble Clef choir. She was a very dedicated supporter and watcher of KU basketball.

She is survived by Daughter, Sheila (Neal) Williams and Daughter In-Law, Nyla Sills; grandchildren Tonya (Tom) Cowan, Brett (Marissa) Sills, Kelsey (Kyle) Purdon, Ryan (Jay) Williams, Nathan Williams; and great grandchildren Colbey, Kyleigh, Taysley, Maci, Tate, Layla, and Charlotte.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and Son Larry Sills.&nbsp;

Luis Antonio Guerrero Jr., 33, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. Luis was born October 27, 1990, in Stephenville, TX, the son of Luis A. and Enedelia (Riojas) Guerrero.

Luis graduated from Chase High School, Chase, KS. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors and fishing. If he wasn’t outdoors, you could catch him playing his Xbox and listening to music. He loved hanging out with his nieces and nephews.

Luis was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maria Sotelo; and a niece, Chassidy Guerrero.

Terry was born on August 13, 1965, in McPherson, KS, the son of Beauferd Wayne and DeAnn (Williams) Schmidt.&nbsp; Terry graduated from McPherson High School in 1983.&nbsp; On May 7, 1994, Terry was united in marriage to Cheryl J. Becker in McPherson.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two daughters, Paige and Madison.

Neal Raymond Schmidtberger, 70, of Hutchinson, died June 28, 2024, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born May 30, 1954, in Hays, to Alvin R. and Martina R. (Dreher) Schmidtberger of Victoria.

Neal graduated from Victoria High School in 1972. He worked for more than 40 years as a grocery manager, starting with Safeway and then for Dillons, working in all 5 Hutchinson stores. Neal was an all-around handyman who loved doing for others. He loved playing the guitar and singing at various functions and even wrote some songs. Neal was also known for his whistling everywhere he went. He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Lions Club of Russell, and volunteered on the Food Bank of Reno County board for 20 years.

On October 7, 1977, Neal married Patricia Ann Childs, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: his daughters, Audra Gray and husband Randall of Hutchinson, Jennifer Stringfellow and husband Russ of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jordan and Yelmy Gray, Emily Winkler, Britney Winkler, Sophia Gray, all of Hutchinson, Ellissa and Dylan Becker of Kansas City, Trevor Stringfellow of Hutchinson; siblings, Galen Schmidtberger of Russell, Wayne and Patty Schmidtberger of California, Jim Schmidtberger of Russell, Joe and Debbie Schmidtberger of Lawrence, Brenda Yoder of Russell, Pam and Bill Gasper of Hays, Myra and Tom Meder of Pfeifer, Glenn and Elsa Schmidtberger of California; mother-in-law, Alice Childs of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law, David Childs of California, Galen and Cindy Childs of Abbyville, Craig and Carla Childs of Abbyville; and many extended family members.

Ronald M. “Ron” Dale, 52, passed away on June 26, 2024, at his home in Haven. He was born on September 28, 1971, in Oshkosh, WI, to Robert M. and Marilyn (King) Dale.

Ronald graduated from Haven High School and then received his Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas Wesleyan University. Ronald touched the lives of many as a paraeducator and Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Haven High School. His passion for working with youth extended beyond the classroom and court, as he generously volunteered his time as an umpire for youth in Haven. Ronald's commitment to nurturing and guiding the next generation left a lasting impact on the community, and his presence will be dearly missed. In his spare time, he could be found reading or spending time on the golf course.

Ronald is survived by his brother, Kevin Dale of Castle Rock, CO.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Rayann Rucker, 78, of Sharon, KS, died Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital.

She was born on October 3, 1945 in Anthony, KS, the daughter of Raymond Bloomer and Tharon (Evans) Bloomer. On November 3, 1963, she married Merle Rucker in Attica, KS. He survives.

Rayann was a homemaker. She made wedding and birthday cakes for many years, as well as working part-time at the Busy B in Medicine Lodge. She loved doing arts and crafts. She was a wonderful seamstress, making clothes for her daughter and granddaughters. In later years, she became an avid quilter. Her beautiful quilts were given away during Christmastime to her family. She did a drawing to see who would be the lucky recipient of her quilts. Each family member has received at least one of her creations throughout the years.

Rayann loved going to town to have coffee or play cards with the gang. She would tell her husband, “I’m going to spread some sunshine.” For many years, Rayann was an integral part of the “garden.” We are not talking about any old garden here. It was a big production of many vegetables. The “garden” was known for its tomatoes. She met many people while selling their produce.

Rayann had the best ability to find the good in people. She instilled the traits of never saying unkind words about people to her family. One of Rayann’s joys was going to support her grandkids and children’s activities. If she were unable to attend, you count on a phone call to see how they did in their activity. The activities ranged from county fairs, scouting, sporting events, solos and musicals. She loved every minute of it. She became everyone’s mom or grandma at those events.

She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon, KS, the Quilting Guild, Harper, Altar Society, County Election Board, Parish Council, County of Aging, 4-H club leader for Sharon Valley 4-H Club and secretary/treasurer for the Sharon Senior Center.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Merle Rucker of Sharon, KS are one daughter, Angie (Vern) Kisner of Copeland, KS and their children, Shaelyn (Travis) Budke and Connor and Delaney of Hays, KS and Evan Kisner of Kansas City; one son, Ed (Bev) Rucker of Hoxie, KS and children, Quenton of Tribune, KS, Tabor of Hays, KS, Victoria (fiancé Tanner Grant) of Hays, KS and Elyssa of Hoxie, KS; two brothers, Galen (Marigene) Bloomer of Wichita, KS and Mike (Shelly) Bloomer of Haysville, KS; many nieces and nephews. Rayann was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Tharon (Evans) Bloomer.

Juan met and married the love of his life Nancy Aguero on August 29, 1997.

A man of resilience and kindness, Juanito worked at Moundridge Manufacturing Inc until his illness forced him to leave. Despite his challenges, Juanito found joy in watching sports, particularly his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and had a passion for fixing cars in his free time. Known for his humor and willingness to help others, Juanito's warm presence and storytelling endeared him to all he encountered.

Juanito is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Rodriguez, and his devoted sister, Monica Mosqueda. He will be forever remembered by his nieces and nephews: Monique Smith, Maria Smith, Michael Trillo, Danielle Trillo, Gabriela Rodriguez, Angel Rodriguez, David Trillo, Antonio Mosqueda, Darrian Horton, and Jonathan Aguero. Angela graduated from Enterprise Academy in 1985 and attended Hutchinson Community College.

She was married to and had three sons with Charles Johnson; they later divorced.

Nell Pruitt, 80 passed away peacefully, Saturday January 27th. She was born March 25,1943 in Hutchinson, daughter of Lawson C and Elfie Mae (Worth) Britain.

Nell graduated Hutchinson High School in 1961. She went on to Beauty School where she dyed her hair pink and gave at home color jobs to the girls in the family. You’ll still find her pink school brush in the bathroom drawer. Nell loved being a homemaker, she was also a master gardener with beautiful blooms year-round. Nell enjoyed sewing and was quite good. She would re-upholster furniture and sew clothes for her family, even the granddaughter’s dolls. Nell would make special fun birthday cakes for the kids. Don and Nell loved Christmas baking together for family and friends. Following her love of cooking and food, she was the Superintendent of the Foods Department at the Kansas State Fair Domestic Arts Building for many years. Nell was also an avid volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives for many years.

Nell married Brian Cole in 1962; they had two daughters, Renee and Penny. She married Don Pruitt, the love of her life in July 1983 and gained 6 stepchildren.

 </figure>Nell Pruitt, 80 passed away peacefully, Saturday January 27th. She was born March 25,1943 in Hutchinson, daughter of Lawson C and Elfie Mae (Worth) Britain.Nell graduated Hutchinson High School in 1961. She went on to Beauty School where she dyed her hair pink and gave at home color jobs to the girls in the family. You’ll still find her pink school brush in the bathroom drawer. Nell loved being a homemaker, she was also a master gardener with beautiful blooms year-round. Nell enjoyed sewing and was quite good. She would re-upholster furniture and sew clothes for her family, even the granddaughter’s dolls. Nell would make special fun birthday cakes for the kids. Don and Nell loved Christmas baking together for family and friends. Following her love of cooking and food, she was the Superintendent of the Foods Department at the Kansas State Fair Domestic Arts Building for many years. Harold John Dirksen, 95, died June 25, 2024, at Hospice House. He was born June 15, 1929, in Hutchinson, to Peter John “Pete” and Bertha Luella (Prichard) Dirksen.

Harold received his GED while serving in the United States Army and attended the Salt City Business College. He was a Staff Sargent of the United States Army and served for eight years, as well as a member of the United States Air Force, where he served for four years. Harold worked as a clerk for the Morton Salt Company for over 35 years. In retirement, he and his wife, Fumiko, began dealing antiques at local flea markets. Harold was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time fishing around Cheney, Neosho and Abilene. He liked to find and collect old bottles.

On January 13, 1954, he married Fumiko Tanaka, in Tokyo, Japan. They shared over 74 years of marriage.

Harold is survived by: wife, Fumiko Dirksen of Hutchinson; children, Diana (Charlie) Mitzner of Abbyville, Steve (Tina) of Salina; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
