
Douglas E. Pitzer, 72, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Halstead Health and Rehab, Halstead, KS. Doug was born May 15, 1952, in Sterling, KS, the son of John and Margery (Seacrest) Pitzer.
Doug graduated from Nickerson High School in 1970 and joined the United States Navy on April 11, 1971, and was honorably discharged on January 31, 1973. In 1975, Doug transferred over to the United States Army Reserves where he was in the 346th MP (Esc Gd) 89th ArCom SSG head of Maintenance. On July 6, 1974, Doug married Susan J. Miller in Hutchinson, KS. Doug worked for Master Halco as a branch manager and retired after 15 years. He enjoyed farming, raising horses and cattle. He also enjoyed camping and truck driving. Doug was a member of Faith Community Bible Church, Burrton, KS.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John Lamb II.
Survivors include his wife, Susan J. Pitzer; daughter Courtney (Aaron) Thompson of Germany; siblings, Kennith (Karen) Pitzer, Cindy (Steve) Park; and four granddaughters, Katelyn Thompson, Kira (Braxton) Carr, Eliana Thompson and Anora Thompson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Faith Community Bible Church, 219 N. Harvey St, Burrton, KS, with Pastor Travis Heneha officiating. Memorials may be given to Faith Community Bible Church or Cancer Center of Kansas and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67502.
