Vivian L. Beeghly, 91, died February 20, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; She was born February 7, 1929, in Humboldt, NE, to Roy L. and Lola (Schmidt) Smith.

Vivian was a graduate of Humboldt High School, Humboldt, NE.&nbsp; She was a homemaker, bookkeeper, and member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On February 12, 1950, she married Lester G. Beeghly in Sabetha.&nbsp; They shared over 39 years of marriage prior to his death on March 31, 1989.

Vivian is survived by:&nbsp; sons, Lynn Beeghly of Hutchinson, Larry Beeghly of Sedgwick, Neal Beeghly of Wichita, and Gregory Beeghly of Springfield, MO; daughter, Debbie Beeghly of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn, Marguerite, and Sue.

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her parents; husband, Lester G. Beeghly; sons, Robert and Kent; daughter, Jan; and brothers, Lee and Max.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary with The Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2020, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Alfred ‘Al’ Joseph Werth, 88, of Hutchinson, died February 16, 2020, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson. He was born December 13, 1931, in Ness City, to Theodore and Adelaide (Leiker) Werth.

Alfred was a 1949 graduate of Ness City High School and served in the United States Air Force for four years. He retired from Dillon Companies Inc. and was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. On November 25, 1952, Alfred married Cleo Alice Stoecklein at Sacred Heart Church in Ness City. They shared over 61 years of marriage prior to her death on August 30, 2014.

He is survived by: children, David (Denise) Werth of Salina, Marie (Greg) Dick of Hutchinson, Alan (Susan) Werth of Cincinnati, OH, and Paula Mayes of Hutchinson; brother, Orville ‘Bud’ Werth; grandchildren, Michele (Chris) Lambert, Cheryl Werth, Adam Dick, Jordan (Cadey) Dick, Garrett (Gabby) Werth, Tyler Werth, and Michael (Heidi) Mayes; and ten great-grandchildren.

Alfred was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Cleo A. Werth; daughter, Denise Marie Werth; grandsons, John Matthew Dick and Blake Werth; sisters, Betty Weigel and Ruby Augustine; and brother, Art Werth.

Douglas K. Stutzman, 80, of Hesston, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at Schowalter Villa.&nbsp; He was born June 26, 1939 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Clifford and Lillian (Wenger) Stutzman.&nbsp;

Doug lived in Peabody when he was younger moving to Hesston in the mid 1950's. He graduated from Hesston Academy in 1957. He farmed until 1962 in Peabody, KS. Doug then worked at Excel Industries in Hesston two different times during his career (1963-1971, 1987-2004).&nbsp; He held various positions from engineering assistant, shop superintendent and sales/service manager, retiring in 2004. He served on the Excel Board from 1963-2012 &nbsp;He worked at GT Sales &amp; Manufacturing from 1972-1987.&nbsp; Doug attended Catlin Mennonite Church in Peabody as a child, and was a long time member of the Hesston Mennonite Church.

Douglas was united in marriage to Barbara Kathryn Vogt on September 27, 1957 at Halstead, KS.&nbsp; She preceded him in death in 2004. He later married Phyllis May King Kauffman on April 15, 2006. She preceded him in death in 2018.&nbsp;

Douglas is also preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;

He is survived by sons, David (Sharon) Stutzman of Hesston, Steven (Anita Miller) Stutzman of Denver, CO; a daughter, Kathryn (Steven) Ropp of Iowa City, IA; brothers, Don (Elnor) Stutzman of Hesston and Duane Stutzman of Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; step-sons, David (Lynda) Kauffman and Douglas Kauffman all of Hesston and two step-granddaughters.

He was a member of Lone Tree Church in Galva.

He was united in marriage to Twila Schmidt on April 28, 1957 in Fairview, Oklahoma.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his sons, Kendall (Charlene) Becker of Galva, and Delane (Althea) Becker of Canton; daughters, Janet (David) Kurtz of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Kayleen (Kevin) Unruh of Galva; siblings, Viola Unruh of Moundridge, Vernon D. (Elfrieda) Becker of Moundridge, Twila (Cleo) Jantz of Winton, California, and Lovella Koehn of Transylvania, Louisiana; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joann (Curtis) Unruh of Canton, and Agnes Becker of Scio, Oregon.

Betty Jo Hunt, 87, passed away on February 16, 2020, at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. The oldest daughter of Emily (Griffee) and Ralston Taylor, she was born on December 18, 1932, in Sterling.

She was raised on a farm outside of Lyons and graduated from Lyons High School. In 1954, Betty married Don Hunt and the couple moved to Hutchinson in 1958. She worked at Hutchinson Community College for seventeen years.

Betty and Don raised three children, Terry, Sue, and Debbie. Many of their family memories revolve around Betty’s love of all holidays, as well as her enthusiasm for diving into new projects. Never an idle moment, Betty’s life was filled with baking, pickling, making jams and jellies, knitting, macramé, tennis, bridge, and endless crafts with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that followed. From childhood on, she always had a book nearby, and her love of reading was passed on to the generations that followed.

Betty’s hospitality led to lifelong friendships with neighbors, co-workers, bridge groups, and the Birthday Club. Her attachment to Nederland, Colorado, rooted in childhood visits to the family cabin there, led to eighteen glorious years of retirement life in Nederland. Hikes and wildflowers were a part of every visit to their mountain home. In 2008, Betty and Don returned to Hutchinson, where they finished out their years with family and friends.

She is survived by: son, Terry Hunt (Renee, Fayetteville, Arkansas; daughters, Sue Carlton (Glenn) and Debbie Hunt (Bob Badgett, both of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Milam; and four nieces.

Betty was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Don Hunt; sister, Peggy Taylor; and brother, Jerry Taylor.

Celebration of Life will be 3 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2020, at Wesley Towers Evan’s Chapel, 700 Monterey Place, Hutchinson. A private family burial will take place prior to the service. Emery D. ‘Bud’ Kittle, 83, of Sterling, died Sunday, February 16, 2020.&nbsp; He was born April 24, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Emery Rueben and Florence Elizabeth (Cook) Kittle.&nbsp;

Bud graduated from Reno County High School in 1954 and Hutchinson Community College in 1961.&nbsp; He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959.&nbsp; He attended Sterling Evangelical Bible Church where God strengthened his faith.&nbsp;

Bud will be lovingly remembered by family and friends as a man who loved God, a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always enjoyed watching his grandkids activities and spending time with family and friends.&nbsp; He lived by a simple code; tell the truth, work hard, and help others whenever you can.

Bud was an accountant in Scottsbluff, NE, where he met his wife, Kathy.&nbsp; On July 10, 1965, he married Katherine Mae ‘Kathy’ Adams in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they lived for 16 years.&nbsp; In 1981, Bud and Kathy returned to the family farm where Bud was born in Nickerson.&nbsp; He enjoyed farming the remainder of his life.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bud is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of 54 years, Kathy of Nickerson; children, Tamara Chesney (Jason) of Nickerson, Emery ‘Buddy’ Dean Kittle, Jr. (Jena) of Olathe; grandchildren, Alan Roberts, Madelyn and Claire Chesney, Jackson, Elias, Allison, and Emma Kittle; daughter from Bud’s previous marriage to Judy Kolb, Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Kittle-Martinez (Buddy Taylor) of McLouth, KS; grandchildren, Jessica Kittle (Brad Ayres, Christopher Kittle; great-grandchildren, Savanah, Nathan, Kylie, Lily, and Isaac; great-great-grandchildren, Cooper and Marshall; sister, Blanche Pearce of Wichita; aunt, Lola Rumford of Abbyville; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

 </figure>Emery D. ‘Bud’ Kittle, 83, of Sterling, died Sunday, February 16, 2020.&nbsp; He was born April 24, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Emery Rueben and Florence Elizabeth (Cook) Kittle.&nbsp;Bud graduated from Reno County High School in 1954 and Hutchinson Community College in 1961.&nbsp; He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959.&nbsp; He attended Sterling Evangelical Bible Church where God strengthened his faith.&nbsp;Bud will be lovingly remembered by family and friends as a man who loved God, a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always enjoyed watching his grandkids activities and spending time with family and friends.&nbsp; He lived by a simple code; tell the truth, work hard, and help others whenever you can.Bud was an accountant in Scottsbluff, NE, where he met his wife, Kathy.&nbsp; On July 10, 1965, he married Katherine Mae ‘Kathy’ Adams in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they lived for 16 years.&nbsp; In 1981, Bud and Kathy returned to the family farm where Bud was born in Nickerson.&nbsp; He enjoyed farming the remainder of his life.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Bud is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of 54 years, Kathy of Nickerson; children, Tamara Chesney (Jason) of Nickerson, Emery ‘Buddy’ Dean Kittle, Jr. (Jena) of Olathe; grandchildren, Alan Roberts, Madelyn and Claire Chesney, Jackson, Elias, Allison, and Emma Kittle; daughter from Bud’s previous marriage to Judy Kolb, Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Kittle-Martinez (Buddy Taylor) of McLouth, KS; grandchildren, Jessica Kittle (Brad Ayres, Christopher Kittle; great-grandchildren, Savanah, Nathan, Kylie, Lily, and Isaac; great-great-grandchildren, Cooper and Marshall; sister, Blanche Pearce of Wichita; aunt, Lola Rumford of Abbyville; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.He was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his parents, and son, Ricky Dean Kittle.&nbsp;Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Sterling Evangelical Bible Church, 3017 N Sterling Rd, Sterling, with Pastor Phil Carroll officiating.&nbsp; Private inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base. Alvin Yuell ‘Al’ Buck, 81, of Hutchinson, died February 14, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He was born May 23, 1938, in Hutchinson, the son of Albert and Oleta (Hamblin) Buck.

Al graduated from Partridge High School and Emporia State University. He served in the Air National Guard.&nbsp; Al was former owner of AB Roofing and worked for Sears and at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; He also officiated high school and college football and basketball games for 17 years.&nbsp; Al was a member of First Christian Church, Hutchinson.

On March 6, 2018, he married Juleta Tennant in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: sons, David Buck (Jami, Wichita, Doug Buck, Hutchinson; granddaughters, Katelyn Williams (Zach, Olathe, Kristin Buck (Luis Miguel, Wichita; brother, Charlie Buck (Cheryl, South Hutchinson; sisters, Luleta Wills, South Hutchinson, Lorraine Warnken (Dave, Hutchinson, Connie Wise (Kenneth, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Al was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Richard, Robert, Bill, Gene, Albert Jr.; and sister, Annabelle Watts.

Ray Vernon Brian, of Hutchinson, passed away February 13, 2020, at his home. He was born August 1, 1931, in Oakley, Kansas, to Roy and Thela Brian.

Ray was a graduate of Fort Hays State University, where he majored in business and played football for the Fort Hays Tigers. Prior to college he served in the United States Navy, where he was on the Navy football team and served as an aviation electrician on the USS Oriskany.

Ray married Phyllis Watkins of Sublette, Kansas, on June 1, 1957.

Ray worked for the Social Security Administration in Dodge City before moving to Hutchinson, where he worked as a field representative, and then assistant manager of the Hutchinson office. Ray was a Freemason, Shriner, member of the Hutchinson Civitan Club, and the United States Golf Association, where he served as a rules official in tournaments. He was an avid golfer and member of Prairie Dunes Country Club for over 40 years.

Ray is survived by: his wife, Phyllis; their children Mitch Brian, Tronda Roselius and Kristi Brian; seven grandchildren, Sam and Zoe Brian, Riley, Erin, and Ely Roselius, Nina and Iris Brian-Smith; sisters, Dora Hopson, Dona Plantz, Mary Torbet; and brothers, Gene Brian and Bob Brian.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Phil Brian; and sister, Sharon Brian.

On May 19, 1962, he married Teresa Savage in Lyons.&nbsp; They shared over 57 years of marriage prior to his death.

D. Earlene Miller, 95, passed away February 11, 2020 at Hospice House in Hutchinson.

Earlene was born September 28, 1924 in Arkansas City, KS, the daughter of Earl and Gusty (Mitchell) Dickerson.

She graduated in 1942 from Arkansas City High School in Arkansas City, KS. She worked in accounting for Barton Salt and Dillons Corporate. She met David E. Miller in Arkansas City and was married January 1, 1949, to this union they were blessed with two children, Jackie and Reid.

Earlene had many past time hobbies and interests. In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing cards, dancing and listening to music. She enjoyed going on cruises and watching sports, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband David; a brother, Weldon Dickerson and a granddaughter Sherri Lynn Stanford.

Earlene is survived by her daughter, Jackie Lynn Mann; a son, Reid and wife Karen Miller; grandchildren, Kara and husband Paul Kuder, Mark and wife Staci Mann, Stephanie and husband Rob Hyden, Jessica and husband Jonathan Guinn, Paula Miller, David Miller and Fiancée Ashley, and Andy and wife Asama Curtis; great grandchildren, Noah Kuder, Hannah Kuder, Adam Curtis, Ayden Curtis, Ian Guinn, and Sopie Miller; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog, Alex.

Robert P. “Bob” Gehring, 76, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at his home.&nbsp; He was born January 7, 1944 in Halstead, Kansas, the son of Peter J.C. and Anna (Stucky) Gehring.

Bob worked for Moridge Manufacturing in Moundridge for over 35 years.

He was a member of West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge.

Bob was united in marriage to Sharon Nafziger on January 4, 1974 at Moundridge.&nbsp; She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Rodney S. Gehring of Tigard, Oregon; daughter, Rhonda (Shawn) Stucky of Moundridge; two grandsons, Zachary and Connor Stucky; brother, Kenneth (Ruth) Gehring of Burrton; sisters, Leona (Norman) Schroeder of Canton, and Marlene (Edward) Thode of Hutchinson; and sister-in-law, Betty Gehring of Buhler.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Floyd Gehring, Marlo Gehring, and LeRoy Gehring.

Nyla Jean Hobbs (Smith, 85, went to be with the Lord, Feb. 13, 2020.&nbsp; She was born Oct. 16, 1934 in rural Walnut, KS to Carney and Ruby Smith.&nbsp; A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Nyla was blessed with an infectious personality that brought joy to those around her.&nbsp; At the age of three months, Nyla’s father Carney passed away and she grew up with her single mother Ruby.&nbsp;

She graduated from Chanute Junior College and went on to achieve a Bachelor of Science degree at Emporia State Teachers College.&nbsp; Her work experiences included being a fire lookout in the mountains of Glacier National Park and teaching in a one room schoolhouse.&nbsp; Beautiful flowers and delicious meals (the best pies ever) were products of Nyla’s active life.&nbsp; As a faithful lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Nyla demonstrated a love for missions and ministry to children, especially those in need.&nbsp;

Nyla was preceded in death by her mother Ruby. 

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack of Hesston, KS, son, Kent (Shari) Hobbs, daughters, Lori (George) Glover, Kara (Mike) Hoover, Jena Hobbs; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Nicole ‘Nicki’ Diane Hiebert, 45, of Hutchinson, died February 11, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 14, 1974, in Hutchinson, to Dwain and Janice (Hedger) Hiebert.

Nicole was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Special Education program and graduated in 1995. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson.

Nicole is survived by: parents, Dwain Hiebert, Nickerson, and Janice Hiebert, Hutchinson; sisters, Shelly Hiebert (Tim Short, Hutchinson, Paula Lundmark (Brent, New Braunfels, Texas, Lisa Smalling (Charles, Hutchinson; four nieces; four nephews; four great-nieces; and six great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by: paternal grandparents, Pete and Birdella Hiebert; and maternal grandparents, Charles and Kathryn Hedger.

Steven Robert Hawkins, 59, entered his heavenly home February 10, 2020. &nbsp;He was born October 9, 1960, in Hutchinson, to James M. Hawkins and Alice Marie (Allison) Hawkins.

Steven graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1979.&nbsp; He was an optician with Singleton-Joyce Optical for 34 years.&nbsp; After it closed, Steven joined Grene Vision Optical Service. He was a loyal and dependable husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, and employee. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, and faithfully read his Bible and devotional every evening. The most important person in Steven’s life was God, with his family a close second.

On November 24, 2013, he legally married his life partner, Christopher M.M. D. P. Britton in Des Moines, IA.&nbsp;

Steven is survived by:&nbsp; his companion, soul mate, and husband of 30 years, Christopher of the home; mother, Alice Marie Hawkins; siblings, Doug Hawkins and wife Valerie, and Diane Ehling, all of Hutchinson; two nephews; one niece; several great-nephews and great-nieces; his beloved pooch, ‘Willow Grace’; and close friends, who were more like extended family, Todd and Susie Ray and James and Jeannette Richardson.

Hazel Whomans, 96, of Hutchinson, died February 10, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village. She was born June 15, 1923, in Kingman, to Glenn William and Mary Elizabeth (Nowlan) Richardson.

Hazel was a 1941 graduate of Kingman High School and 1967 graduate of Tech School of Nursing. John and Hazel lived in Kingman, KS, from 1943 - 1974, Alamogordo, NM, from 1974 -1995, and then moved to Hutchinson in 1995.

She was a homemaker and retired Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Hazel was a Sunday School teacher, volunteer for Betty Dare Sunshine Auxiliary, Alamogordo, NM, and various other charities. She enjoyed family quilting bees, crocheting baby hats, and knitting blankets for the Salvation Army and hospital. Hazel was a member of South Hutchinson Christian Church.

On April 16, 1943, she married John William Whomans in Kingman. They shared over 58 years of marriage prior to his death on October 18, 2001.

Hazel is survived by: son, Robert E. (Mary Ann) Whomans of Newton; daughters, Marjorie M. Keezer of Newton, Mary Ann Yahnke of Norwich, and Joyce (Nelson) Lancaster of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Doris Richardson of Winfield; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, John W. Whomans; son, Paul C. Whomans; siblings, Louise Lord, Lois Tucker, Wallace Richardson, Tom Richardson, Newton Richardson, Agnes Cragun, and Leonard Richardson.

Edward F. ‘Ed’ Doherty, 98, of Hutchinson, died February 8, 2020, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born October 31, 1921, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the son of The Reverend E. S. Doherty and Elizabeth Anne (Skuce) Doherty.

Ed attended Haviland High School for three years, graduating from Bucklin High School in 1939. He was granted a B. A. degree from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1947, and a M. Ed. Degree from the University of Colorado in 1951. Ed also completed additional graduate studies at the University of Kansas. Ed was a Social Studies teacher and head basketball coach at Stockton and Anthony High Schools for six years. A resident of Hutchinson since 1955, he retired from Cessna Fluid Division, where Ed held the position of Director of Personnel and Planning.

On December 20, 1946, he married Hazel Fae Hurlbut in Salina, Kansas. They shared 66 years of marriage before her death on March 11, 2013.

Ed is survived by: daughters, Linda Hopwood and husband Jim, Spring Hill, and Janet Ellis and husband Richard, Hutchinson; granddaughters, Jennifer Hopwood and husband Tim Dickson of Omaha, NE, and Erica Hopwood of Manhattan, KS; grandson, Corey Ellis of Chicago, IL; and great-grandson, Theodore Dickson.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Hazel F. Doherty; sister, Rosaleen Murray; and great-granddaughter, Rosalie Dickson.

Ed was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving with the 412th Medical Collecting Co. in British and Dutch New Guinea, the Philippine Islands, and Japan. Ed was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson/ Reno County Chamber of Commerce (where he was elected twice to the Board of Directors, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post 68, Service Corps of Retired Executives, charter member of Hutchinson Civitan Club, where he served as their first President.

Ed was deeply involved in community service at local and state levels. He served as Drive Chairman for the Community Chest Organization. Based on that experience, he helped to create the task force which brought the establishment of the United Way of Reno County. He served the City of Hutchinson as Chairman of the Human Relations Council, City Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals. In addition, Ed was appointed to represent the Reno County Commission on the Board of Horizons Mental Health Center, serving one term as Chairman. He was on the Board of Hospice of Reno County, when it became an affiliate of Health Care, Inc. Ed was a founding member and early president of the Hutchinson Personnel Relations Council, which evolved into Central Kansas Society for Human Resource Management. Although Ed left the field of education as a teacher after six years, it remained a major interest both personally and professionally. The growth of the Cessna Fluid Power Division created major training demands that emphasized the need for increased emphasis on vocational education at both local and state levels. Working with the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship, Ed helped develop a training program at Cessna known as ‘Earn While You Learn’ that became a national model. When the Area Vocational- Technical School concept was created, Ed served on a three-county task force designed to bring one of the six schools allocated to Kansas to this area. He served for nine years on the General Advisory Committee of the Central Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School, which now operates as a division of Hutchinson Community College. The U.S. Congressional legislation, which created the Area Schools, also provided that each state must form a State Advisory Council for Vocational Technical Education, charged with evaluating progress within the state. Ed was appointed to the Kansas Council as an industry representative and was subsequently elected as its first chairman. During the 1980’s, he served as Chairman of the Education Committee of the Kansas Council of Commerce and Industry, and as a Trustee of Kansas Wesleyan University, where he chaired the Academic Affairs Committee.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, with The Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Private family inurnment will take place in the Fairlawn Burial Park Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

John Lee Zielke, 89, formerly of Hesston, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home in Shell Knob, Missouri, on February 7, 2020.

John was born on February 1, 1931 in Hutchinson, Kansas to John W. and Dora Froese Zielke. He graduated from Buhler High School, Buhler, Kansas in 1948 and attended Hutchinson Community College. John played on the 1947 and 1948 state championship basketball teams. These teams were later inducted into the Kansas Athletic Hall of Fame.

After college, John pursued his interest in farming. In the mid 1950’s he began a long career at Hesston Corporation as Systems Engineer.

On September 30, 1951, John was united in marriage to June Josephine Froese. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2001. This union was blessed with four children; Kathie, Karen, John A. and James. John and June made their home in Hesston for many years.

On March 23, 2003 he married Myrna Wells at Shell Knob, Missouri, where they made their home until his death. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: wife Myrna, of the home; daughters Kathie Keimig (Michael, Sterling, Kansas; Karen Zumwalt (David, Wichita, Kansas; sons John A. Zielke (Heidi, Hesston, Kansas; James K. Zielke (Patti, Weddington, North Carolina; stepdaughter Sharon Winsler (Pat, Shell Knob, Missouri; stepson; Ron Wells (Connie, Topeka, Kansas; sisters Betty Campbell, Lakeway, Texas; Connie Panushka, Lakewood, Colorado; brother R. Keith Zielke (Diane, Lakewood, Colorado; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren , 7 step grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp; Preceding him in death were parents John W. Zielke and Dora Froese Zielke.

Gene Yoder, 93, passed away Feb. 6, 2020, at Schowalter Villa. He passed peacefully with Beth holding his hand. He was born Gene Yoder, in McPherson, Kansas June 29, 1926.

He married Dorothy Miller on April 9, 1949.

He is survived by: his children Ken Yoder, Brent (Carla) Yoder, and Beth (Keith) Hostetler; grandchildren, Tracy Yoder-Feit, James Reardon, Mike and Kyle Yoder, Kelsey Ronan, Colin Click, and Alex and Sara Hostetler; great-grandson, Aidan Yoder; and his brother, Dale Yoder.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy and his parents Lawrence and Orpha Yoder and sister Vesta Giltner.

Luella Jane Regier, 88, passed away January 31, 2020 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born July 4, 1931 at Rushville, Nebraska, the daughter of Lawrence and Ruby (Westervelt) Holmes. Jane graduated from Creighton Nebraska High School with the class of 1948.&nbsp; She attended Grace Bible Institute of Omaha, Nebraska, Bethel College at Newton, Kansas and received her registered nursing degree from Bethel Deaconess Hospital in 1958.&nbsp; Jane was a homemaker and had a passion for quilting, sewing and gardening.

On October 4, 1958 she married Leland J. Regier at Creighton, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2014.

Survivors include her children, Steven Regier of Fresno, CA.,Thomas Regier of Hutchinson, KS., and James (Tracy) Regier of Overland Park, KS., five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She is also preceded in death by her son, Paul; and sister, Mildred Nelson.

Eric Michael Schmidt, 34, died February 7, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born January 5, 1986, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Paul and Colleen (Butler) Schmidt.

Eric was a graduate of Norwin High School, North Huntingdon, PA, and WyoTech, Blairsville, PA. He was employed at Safelite Auto Glass, Hutchinson, and a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson.

On July 13, 2013, he married Victoria Swenson in Boswell, PA. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Julia and Nathan.

Eric is survived by: his wife, Victoria Schmidt of Pretty Prairie, KS; children, Julia and Nathan of the home; parents, Paul and Colleen Schmidt of North Huntingdon, PA; parents-in-law, Michael and Gayle Swenson of Yoder, KS; grandmother, Lois Schmidt; and aunts, Kathleen, Patti Jo, and Patricia.

He was preceded in death by: his grandfather, Paul W. Schmidt; grandmother, Ethel Butler; and uncle, Lt. Colonel Bernard Meisel.

Michael graduated from Austin Catholic Preparatory School, Detroit, MI.&nbsp; He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit and his master’s degree from the University of Michigan.&nbsp; Michael served as a school principal, before becoming a computer programmer for Accenture Consulting.&nbsp; He enjoyed stamp collecting.&nbsp; Michael was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Cave Creek, AZ, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

On June 23, 1973, he married Emily Dyer in Flint, MI.&nbsp;

Michael is survived by:&nbsp; his wife of almost 47 years, Emily of Hutchinson; son, Marc Ronan (Hollie) of Hutchinson; daughter, Susan Gourley (Vicki) of Benton, AR; three grandchildren, who called him ‘Papa’, Brendan, Grace, and Gavin Ronan, all of Hutchinson; sister, Patricia Redding (Peter); and sister-in-law, Peggy Ronan, all of Troy, Michigan.&nbsp;

Virgil Leroy Tucker, 73, died February 4, 2020, at his home. He was born May 2, 1946, in Winfield, the son of Carl W. and Audrey L. (Brittingham) Tucker.&nbsp; Virgil graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1964.&nbsp; He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1992, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer.

After returning to Hutchinson, Virgil attended HCTEA and studied automotive technology. He then taught automotive technology at HCTEA and Barton County Community College, in addition to working at AutoZone.

Virgil was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, AMVETS, and V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361.

On March 29, 1975, he married Susan J. DeGraff in Chula Vista, CA. They shared 42 years of marriage before her death on November 22, 2017.

Survivors include: sons, Richard, Roger, Lee, Jack, Eric; daughter, Roxanna Cox; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Amber, Charlene, Carlene; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Virgil Allen Tucker.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2020, at Elliott Chapel. Virginia Lee Brawner, 99, passed away February 3, 2020 at her home.

 </figure>Virginia Lee Brawner, 99, passed away February 3, 2020 at her home. Virginia was born October 13, 1920 in rural Hutchinson, KS, the daughter of George E. and Mary Anna Sears Bacon.She attended rural Maguire Elementary School, Hutchinson High School and Grace Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1941 as a Registered Nurse and worked a short time at Special Nursing before working as a First Aid nurse at Cessna Aircraft in Hutchinson. There she met Leo Brawner of Woodward, OK, and was married January 9, 1943, to this union they were blessed with four children, Bonnie, Anita, Lowell and Craig.Virginia joined the Clay Valley Methodist Church and attended until about 1976, when she and Leo joined the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She has been active in the church; teaching, signing in the choir, planning retreats and greeting and as a Recording Secretary; also a Delegate to Annual Conference for several years. 4-H was an important part of her family as they raised horned Herefords. Virginia was the Haven 4-H Community Leader for 10 years. In 1947, the family moved to Haven due to Leo’s failing health. Virginia worked in the Colonial Manor Nursing Center (also Haven Training Center) for 18 years; teaching Nurse Aid classes and became the Director of Nursing. She retired as a RN after 71 years. She was also a hospice volunteer of Reno County Hospice, secretary of Haven Tree Board and assisted Prairieland Food Program taking orders to those shut-in. More recently she has been a secretary, bookkeeper, caregiver and friend to all. Remember her smile and love for everyone. Her motive was “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and be “more like Jesus”. Her prayers were simply “God bless everyone and keep us safe from evil and harm, heal those who are ill and comfort those who are grieving”. Today is a celebration with the Angles who saved her life in a train accident in March 2000 and have taken her to her new home in Heaven with Jesus. Don’t miss me, just remember me.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leo; a son, Lowell, a sister, Georganna Froestschner and son in law, Larry Norton. Virginia was loved and cared for by many relatives, friends and her Pleasant Grove Church family.
